Marvel Rivals will shift to a two-month format starting in season three, with a new hero added every singl🎀e month, NetཧEase Games announced today.
NetEase said, “relative systems will be adjusted accordingly,” but the developer’s goal is to “keep the excitement alive” by each season.
Season two, coming next week, will add Emma Frost as a Vanguard hero, while season 2.5’s update will add Ultron as a new Strategist. The season will also bring new team-ups, including Stars Aligned (Captain America and Winter Soldier), Mental Projection (Emma Frost, Magneto, Scarlet Witch), and Arcane Order (Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch).
Season three should presumably begin in July after season two’s three-month length, which means there should be six new heroes coming after Ultron throughout the rest of the year. This will bring the total roster up to 45 characters in the game’s first year.
Elsewhere in season two, there will be sever🃏al buffs and nerfs, with the patch notes due to come out next week before the update drops on Friday, April 11, but heroes like Peni Parker, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, Mr. Fantastic, Moon Knight, and Rocket Raccoon are set to be improved via buffs or new/changed team-ups.
In Competitive play, picks and bans will now be introduced in Gold III, which is way earlier than before when it began in Diamond III. NetEase says it will be “increasing the weight of individual performances” on the ladder, so you will gain or lose more or fewer points based on how you play.
It sounds 🌄like season two will be a big draw to get players back in the fold who may have strayed away from the game during 🐭the lengthy season one because the additions sound promising for when it goes live on April 11.
