I guess it’s as ‘definitive’ as we’re going to get, though
Look, Konami doesn’t have a lot of options. It’s a bad place to work, and its most creative talent was loyal for much longer than necessary. So we’re getting Metal Gear Survive, to re-use some assets and try to make some money. Also released today, just over a year since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, is Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience.
Unlike past, notable Metal Gear re-releases, like Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, the “Definitive Experience” merely bundles Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Online, and Ground Zeroes (plus DLC) in one paꦉckage, a💯s many modern games do. It costs $50 on PS4/Xbox One, $40 on PC (out October 13).
It’s also not all that “definitive,” given Hideo Kojima, no longer with Konami, never got a chance to even finish the game and never will. This is just adapting the language of modern game publishing (“Definitive Edition!!!!”) without even doing as much work on past re-releases in the series. But if you missed the game first time around and want one item, I guess this is for you.
