To keep the Minecraft juggernaut rolling along, Mojang is getting ready to release version 1.21 of its mighty IP. As part of the said update, the studio is introducing a new mob for when you think the game isn’t hostile enough.
Say hello to the bogged. This is a skeletal creature that fires poison-tipped arrows. A recent post on the puts a little bit of a lovey-dovey spin on the mob. Because it was announced on Valentine’s Day.
With 🌟its green, gooey look and vacant eyes, the bogged is actually a variant on the classic skeleton and, as the name implies, can be found in the more swampy areas of the game.
When can I give it a hug?
The bogged is set to come out with the 1.21 update (which is due sometime this year), but you can test it now in snapshots, which are essentially beta tests for new Minecraft features. The post gives some instructions:
To install a snapshot, open up the and enable snapshots in the “Installations” tab. To enable preview/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, then follow .
As of late 2023, the game has sold over 300 million copies since it launched in 2011 (or 2009 if you’re counting the alpha build). It’s no secret that it’s been one of the most successful releases in gaming history, and the fact that it’s still going today is pretty gnarly stuff.
It’s been a good while since I was sucked back into Minecraft‘s world. Not sure whether a new green enemy is enough to entice me back in. But that could be because I’ve recently got back into No Man’s Sky. That’s eating into a lot of my downtime at the minute.
