At launch, Monster Hunter Wildsā biggest debate isnāt about its expected low difficulty, as many anticipatedāitās aboutš graź¦phic performance problems.
This shift in focus is actually surprising, considering how much the MH community was worried about the game’s difficulty leading up to release.
MH Wilds launched on February 28 to mixed reviews on , currently sitting at just 47% positive ratings. Most of the negative feedback centers on poor PC optimization, wšith players reporting severe frame rate drops, even on high-end GPUs.
However, many players claim to be rušnning the game smoothlyāeven on mid-range setups that require lower settings.
Some Monster Hunter Wilds players think launch performance is actually great
Several players shared that their performance on MH Wilds launch has been better than expected, with some even reporting improvements over the gameās beta test last year, despite not upgrading thšeir hardware.
“Not sure what people are talking about. My performance has been very smooth on ultra […] Ā and I’m only using a 6750xt,” one player wrote. “Beta 2 was crashing as soon as Iād leave the camp on lowest settings, but I havenāt even noticed a dropped frame yet playing on medium now,” another one added.
Some players also mentioned that while others reported issues on PlšŖayStation 5, their experience had been smooth.
“Framerate mode is super solid on the release version on both PS5 and PS5 Pro. Itās like a locked 60, with the pro having more fidelity and being more stable,” one player explained. “Runs and looks amazing on PS5,” a second one agreed.”
Updating your graphics card drivers might be the MH Wilds performance fix, as devs already suggested
Monster Hunterāsą½§ official support page on X advised players experiencing performance issues to update their graphics drivers and turn off compatibility mode as a potential fix.
While itās common for developers to blame player configurations, šsome users confirmed that updating drivers actually resolved theiš§r issues, for both Nvidia and AMD cards.
“Update your graphics drivers […] I have a 3060ti and Iām running medium,” a player recommended. “Performance was way better than beta for me (Also might have helped that I upgraded drivers),” another replied.Ā Several others mentioned that updating drivers did fix the problems for them
Many others echoed similar results, suggesting that a simple driver update might solāve the problem for a large portion of players.
If you’re running into performance issues, make sure to install the latest optional drivers, as mandatory updates may not yet include optimizations for MH Wilds. As of Feb. 28, theź¦ŗ drivers optimšized for Wilds are:
- AMD: 25.2.1 Optional Update
- Nvidia: GeForce Game Ready Driver version 572.80
