As previously announced, the remaster will feature early development versions of levels that were cut from the final game. There’ll also be hours of commentary from developers available to help you learn more about the world Naughty Dog created. The new post gives us the names of the new levels: Sewers, Jackson Party, and Boar Hunt.

Dataminers had p💖reviously discovered that the Jackson dance was supposed to be a playable section of the game, though it never made the final cut. a boar-hunting segment of the game that was scrapped for the sake of pacing.

It was supposed to feature Dina and Ellie hunting, and it was meant to show Ellie being unable to let go of killing the boar. According to Druckmann, this was “part of her dealing with her PTSD.” During the boar’s dying moments, Ellie hears Joel’s screams.

Old game, new features

The remaster will take advantage of the PS5’s power to bring you reduced loading times and an unlocked framerate option for TVs that support VRR. You’ll also get visual enhancements, including native 4K output in Fidelity Mode and 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode. Additional improvements include “increased texture resolution, increased Level-of-Detail distances, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more.”

New details regarding the roguelike survival mode have also been revealed. This mode will have you taking on randomized encounters that end with a boss battle. You’ll have several gameplay modifiers available, and you’ll be able to play as various members of the cast, including Dina, Jesse, Lev, Tommy, and more. These playable characters will have different traits to match differing playstyles, and there’ll be unlockable skins for them. There are also new unlockable skins for Ellie and Abby.

The photo mode has been beefed up with new features such as “dynamic lighting, Frame Forward, and Gaze Direction, as well as new frame and logo options.” Perhaps most excitingly, the game will have full DualSense support. Hence, you’ll be able to enjoy haptic feedback as well as adaptive triggers “to allow every weapon to feel distinct.”

The announcement of a remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 hasn’t been celebrated by everyone, with some calling it a cash grab. Fortunately, if you own the original version, you’ll be able to upgrade for $10.
