It’s taking a pit stop
A new Need for Speed game is coming out this year, but it will not be present at E3 2019. A announced the unsurprising news and then shattered hopes that we’d get a glimpse of the racer next month. It seems EA isn’t quite ready to show off what the future of NFS is.
EA DICE’s Ben Walke stated, “Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us.” Considering the last entry, Payback, wasn’t well received, that seems like a good plan.
With E3 likely going to be dominated by Microsoft and news of a new Forza, I can’t blame EA for waiting on this. It would be wiser to pick a time when nothing else is going on than to dump a bunch of info on a title that will inevitably be compared against the likes of Microsoft’s juggernaut.
