The NEOGEO X is a curious piece of hardware. On one hand, it’s a bit pricey for what it offers, especially considering that you can’t pop in actual NEOGEO AES cartridges. On the other hand, goddamn, is it a sexy-looking piece!

The system came pre-loaded with 20 titles (plus a limited 21st game card for Ninja Master’s), but a new “Mega Pack” scheduled to release across North America on June 25 will expand that library by 15. Coming out on the same day are five previously announced “Classics” packs that break apart the “Mega Pack” collection as follows:

• Vol I: Sengoku, Metal Slug 2, Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy
• Vol II: Samurai Shodown III, Savage Reign, Super Sidekicks 3
• Vol III: The King of Fighters ’96, Blazing Star, Kizuna Encounter
• Vol IV: Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Shock Troopers, World Heroes 2 Jet
• Vol V: The Last Blade, Blue’s Journey, Art of Fighting 3
  

Every pack will include a travel charging cable and a system update that offers control tweaks, audio fixes, and even a new . According to Amazon, the “Classics” will each run , while the “Mega Pack” will run . Amazon also curiously lists the release date as June 6, but I’d trust the over that.
