Netflix Sonic Prime series gets a quick teaser

The animated Sonic universe keeps on expanding. Today, we got a quick teaser of a new Sonic animation coming to Netflix, Sonic Prime.

Sonic Prime‘s suitably features the hedgehog himself, racing along what looks like the Green Hill Zone. We don’t get much more than a good look at the animation style for this series, but it at least gives us a good idea of what’s in store.

Not many more details are out right now. According to a , Sonic Prime will see the Blue Blur attempt to save a new multiverse. It’s also, apparently, a journey of self-discovery and redemption. Dang, was the original Sonic movie teaser really that bad?

No premiere date’s been set yet for the 24-episode series.

Sonic on top of the world

It’s certainly been a good few years for the blue hedgehog, at least in media at large. Both the first and second Sonic the Hedgehog movies had huge debuts, making Sonic the presumptive leader in video game ༒movie attendance.

The open-world Sonic game, Sonic Frontiers, is expected sometime later this year and sounds pretty cool so far. Sonic the Fighters appeared in the law-and-order spinoff of the Yakuza series with . Even some classic Sonic the Hedgehog games are getting a with a bunch of neat futures. Though, that particular collection has caused some trouble, both with its pre-order scheme and tangential de-listings.

With Netflix at least, Sonic’s fortunes could continue to be golden. It has been home to a bunch of video game adaptations, from Cuphead to The Witcher. The streaming platform has been having some public trouble too, due to and . Hopefully the Blue Blur isn’t caught up in the churn.
