It seems like a new Xenoblade Chronicles game is in development. Following a stir of speculation that came up over a voice actress’ comment, is now reporting that a new Xenoblade Chronicles is in development.

Back in June, voice actress Jenna Coleman appeared on the YouTube channel Din’s Meteorite to discuss her time working on Xenoblade Chronicles and the recent Switch remaster. During the discussion, one part about her role in the first Xenoblade Chronicles brought up an𒀰 odd hint about a possible new entry.

“God, when was the first game? Ten years ago?” said Coleman. “It was a long time ago, I did it pre-Doctor Who days and then when they did the second one, they just asked me to come back, and I think they’re going to do another.” Coleman pauses for a moment, pondering if it’s “common knowledge.” “Yeah, I think they’re going to do another.”

Fanbyte’s Imran Khan says according to his sources, he can confirm that’s the case. The new Xenoblade is reportedly nearing the final stages of development at Monolith Soft, but its release date may be held bac꧃k for any number of reasons.

According to Fanbyte’s report, the game is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, taking place in the far-flung future with “a few returning characters who have long-outlived their human counterparts” from the previous games.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was reportedly set to be revealed earlier this year, and may still be announced before the end of it, but it’s had a difficult time, both with development amid the pandemic and in optimizing the game for the Nintendo Switch. It’s reportedly aiming for more character models on screen at once than any previous title.

The report concludes by noting that, as always, take these rumors with a grain of salt, and no in-development game is guaranteed to be the same as rumored or even released. For Xenoblade fans eager for more after the extra bit of content that arrived as part of the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, however, it seems like they might havꦜe someth📖ing to look forward to.
