NIS America has cut ties with Atlus and will no longer distribute the Sega subsidiary’s games across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, NIS America managing director Takuro Yamashita tells .

“Atlus became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega,” said Yamashita. “It always cherry picked its EU publishing partner based on who offered the highest minimum guarantee on a title by title basis. I noticed that it was very difficult for NIS America to establish an equal-partnership with Atlus.

“Atlus and its European games have contributed a lot to the expansion of NIS America in Europe. I would like to express my greatest appreciation to them for that.”

Destructoid reached out to Atlus for comment on the matter. A company representative would only confirm that Odin Sphere Leifthrasir‘s European release will be unaffected by the matter.

This development follows an announcement last month, where Sega indicated its 2013 acquisition of Atlus had been complꩵeted and ๊revealed plans to publish all Atlus titles in the Americas moving forward.

At the time, Sega asserted the move would have “no impact” on Europe or Oceania.

It’s currently unclear on if or how Sega intends to bring upcoming titles like Persona 5, Etrian Odyssey V, and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
