Wanted game sold well, funnily enough
Sega has stated that it is “proactively pursuing” plans to port more “previously released” titles to the PC platform, following the success of Persona 4 Golden, which launched on Steam in June and racked up over half a million sales in scant weeks.
Speaking , Sega Sammy CEO Haruki Satomi and CFO Kouichi Fukazawa stated that the publisher was not only looking into re-releasing other titles to the Steam platform, but that it was also investigating the possibility of launching future releases on PC alongside their console brethren. , the phrasing of the statement suggests that Sega may be referring to multiple game franchises, not just Persona.
Sega seem to be the only people surprised by the success of Persona 4 Golden‘s PC port. Fans have been crying out for titles such as Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 FES, and Persona 5 Royal to receive PC ports for years. Now that Sega has seen a favourable bottom line, it’s hopefully only a matter of time before these long-requested classics find themselves ported to Steam, to be enjoyed by new communities of players.
The PC port of Persona 4 Golden features high-definition visuals, English and Japanese voicetracks and support for achievements and Steam Trading Cards. It is available to purchase on Steam right now. You can read Chris Carter’s thoughts on the port right here.
