Now that the dust has mostly settled on Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the question remains over when those games will start to trickle onto Xbox Game Pass. Xbox head Phil Spencer seems to still want Call of Duty and other big titles on t🅺he pass, but it remains to be seen when it could happen.
In an interview with , Spencer said the “flagship” franchise for Activision Blizzard is “still coming” to Game Pass.
“Our intent is the full portfolio of games from Zenimax, Activision Blizzard, and Xbox Game Studios – will be on Game Pass, day one,” Spencer told Game File.
Recently, Xbox confirmed that Activision Blizzard games are making their way onto the Pass, starting with Diablo IV on March 28. The door is open, but Microsoft advises players that there may be a “lag” on making Call of Duty games available on Pass.
The future of Activision Blizzard games on Game Pass
With such massive hits in the Activision Blizzard library, putting those titles on Game Pass could be a significant advantage from Microsoft’s acquisition.
Many video game players, especially more casual ones, probably only play Call of Duty and maybe a few other games here and there. If Xbox consoles allow them to play the new games from day one with just a subscription fee, it could lead to a massive shift towards Xbox, eitherꦓ through its consoles or just its services.
