It’s still a Nintendo joint
Remember Bayonetta 3? It feels like it was announced forever ago, but it’s still in the works. Amid all of the rumors like the fact that it’s an open world game and extremely ambitious, we’re still just left with the vague teaser trailer to go on. as to when that would change, to no avail.
Here’s what producer Hideki Kamiya had to say in regards to showing the game off before the end of 2021:
“It was more of a not definitely ‘something will come out this year’, but if there is a year, then something should happen, right? f you remember last time, I said that even though everyone was asking about Bayonetta 3, maybe you should tell everyone to forget about it for a whil🅘e. I kind of need to keep to that stance for now because ultimately, it’s not our decision what to say and when to say it. As much as everyone is clamoring to see it, we are rea♕lly, really waiting to release it too.
Everyone who is working on the project is of course very proud of what we’re doing and wants everyone to see what we’re doing. As much as fans are waiting for it, we are waiting for the day when we can show it. We want everyone to cheer us on as we run to the final stretch. We want to show it too!”
Platinum boss Atsushi Inaba chimed in that there’s “no need to worry,” and that the game is proceeding as planned: a sentiment Kamiya has꧙ said basically every few months sin🦩ce the game was announced.
That announcement, mind, was in 2017. It’s crazy that things would progress to the point where we haven’t even seen it in four years, but that’s Nintendo for you. They have a penchant for dropping news very early, then reworking it into oblivion, or being very careful with their marketing. Metroid Prime 4 is in a similar boat.
