RE4 Separate Ways DLC: How to solve the collection room lock puzzle

I was completely caught off guard by how many puzzles I’d have to complete in the Resident Evil 4 remake Separate Ways DLC. Like, waaaaaay caught off guard. Like, this is a huge puzzle-to-gameplay quotient here! No worries though, we have the solution to the Chap𝓀ter 5 collection room lock puzzle so you can be on your way and keep kicking ass.

Follow the footsteps from the entrance carefully

The solution to the puzzle is on the ground. No really! When Ada triggers her detective vision iris view, she’ll be able to see footsteps on the ground. Go back to the entrance of the room and look at the ground carefully.

Notice how the person in question goes to one exhibit first, then another exhibit, then a third? That’s the exact order of the lock you’ll need to open to get the Blue Butterfly item. You can follow those footsteps yourself to discern the symbol order. Note the symbols must be selected from left to right: in other words, the first exhibit is on the left, the second exhibit is in the middle, and the third exhibit is the symbol on the right side of the lock.

Use the three specimen hints to figure out the order of symbols on the lock

The solution to the puzzle is as follows:

• Scarab/Beetle (left symbol)
• Cow head (middle symbol)
• Lizard (right symbol)

Enter the symbols in that order and the case will unlock! The Blue Butterfly item is yours.
