Sakamoto Days anime gets January 11 release date

The retired assassin is coming soon!

Sakamoto Days‘ anime adaptation has long been announced, but a new announcement finally revealed its specific release date. The anime’s official website released its main promotional video detailing the official premiere date, runtime, and opening theme.

According to the promotional video, Sakamoto Days will start airing in Japan on January 11, 2025. It will air for two consecutive cours, with the second cour starting in July 2025. Award-winning musician Vaundy, who wrote Chainsaw Man‘s ending theme, “Chainsaw Blood,” composed the anime’s opening theme, “Hashire SAKAMOTO.”

The anime’s official social media handle also releases the anime’s key visual, showcasing the anime’s key characters.

TMS Entertainment is handling the anime adaptation, with Masaki Watanabe directing it. Taku Kishimoto is in charge of the scripts for the series, while Mo Moriyama creates the character designs. The༒ voice acting staff includes Tomokazu Sugita (Taro Sakamoto), Nao Toyama (Aoi Sakamoto), Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shin Asakura), Ayane Sakura (Lu Shaotang), Ryota Suzuki (Heisuke Mashimo), Natsuki Hanae (Nagumo), Taku Yashiro (Shishiba), and Saori Hayami (Osaragi).

The anime is based on Yutu Suzuki’s manga of the same name, which is currently published on Weekly Shonen Jump. The story follows Taro Sakamoto, a formerly renowned hitman, as he enjoys a peaceful retirement with his family. However, that very peace is disturbed when people from the underworld pay him a visit. With an out-of-shape body from retirement, Sakamoto must defend himself and the peace he has known.
