So, Disgaea 5 is horny/funny s-CRY-ed? Watch the full opener

‘Dis guy, ehhh?

This may be me projecting. I think about s-CRY-ed a lot. I don’t know why. And it certainly did not invent the “guy with cool arm” genre. Still, the first half of this trailer reminded me a lot of s-CRY-ed, and then the second haไlf was full of characters with weird ♌horns (sometimes one, sometimes two), luchador masks, and all sort of zany junk. 

While Disgaea is “very anime,” the series always does a good job at being more than that. It’s often endearing and earnest, thanks to good writing and localization. Plus it has a distinctive, lovely art style–all the same reasons I liked Disgaea 4.

And if you check out the gameplay trailer, Disgaea 5 looks pretty nuts. It’s coming to Europe and North America this year (3 Anno Luigi).
