Step into the shoes of Mio or Zoe, two game narrative writers embarking on a unique adventure in Split Fiction. With one story unfolding in a captivating sci-fi world and the other in a fantasy realm with a nostalgic RPG charm, you’ll be drawn into a narrative unlike any other. But when Mio and Zoe find themselves trapped in a simulation of their own games, they must join forces to find their way back to reality.

Will Split Fiction be available on PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass?

At the time of writing, Split Fiction hasn’t been confirmed for the PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription. Though, an Xbox Game Pass integration may be likely due to the perks of EA Play. At the most, it could be arriving at a later date for GP users, as we’ve seen with some titles in the past.

Split Fiction trailers

During the 2024 Game Awards, we got our first glimpse into Split Fiction, depicting the two distinct worlds of Mio and Zoe. For the fantasy side, we see dragons coming to life as you nurture them to become the mighty fire-breathing creatures they were born to be. You’ll then get transported to sci-fi, where you can take on a ball form and unleash powerful blows with an exo suit.

The latest Official Co-op Gameplay trailer gives a sneak peek into Mio’s sci-fi world, showing a thrilling battle on the road. Then, the game transforms into a shapeshifting venture with Zoe’s fantasy universe, where you’ll have control over various creatures.

You and your teammate can also branch off from the main story with the upcoming Side Stories feature. You’ll discover these narratives in portals, providing an incredibly unique experience that will spice up gameplay. This includes riding in the dunes while on the back of a gigantic Sandfish or exploring the galaxy with nothing but an astronaut suit. Although these Side Stories won’t be as crucial as the main narrative, they have the potential to be just as monumental with their entertaining and whimsical minigames.

Will Split Fiction have local co-op and crossplay?

Like It Takes Two, Split Fiction offers a local or online co-op experience. To play online, you must have a Friend’s Pass, which you’ll receive when you buy Split Fiction. Keep in mind that both parties don’t need to own the game, as it only requires one person to have the base game, even if they share different platforms. That means crossplay is available across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
