After the unanimous critical acclaim of Andor, and the relative success of Ahsoka, The Acolyte promises to be Disney+’s next big bet in the Star Wars universe. Let’s see what all the fuss is about.

What is Star Wars The Acolyte?

Unlike The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, which take place in the times between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens, The Acolyte is the series’ boldest attempt at a prequel yet. It’s set during the last days of the High Republic, which began five centuries before the destruction of the original Death Star. It’s a time of prosperity for the galaxy, but one constantly threatened by the threat of the dark side.

The journey begins around one century before the prequels, with a Padawan and her Jedi Master taking a detour from what’s common in this universe, and going on sleuthing adventures as they uncover dark secrets and conspiracies.

The Acolyte cast and crew

The show is helmed by Leslye Headland, who’ll also direct some episodes. The remaining episodes will have Kogonada and Alex Garcia Lopez in the director’s seat.

The cast will have Amandla Stenberg as the protagonist, Lee𝔍 🤡Jung-jae as her master, and also feature names such as Carrie-Anne Moss, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dafne Keen, and Manny Jacinto.

The Acolyte rumors and possible spoilers

The story of Darth Plagueis that Senator Palpatine tells Anakin in Revenge Of The Sith has become a beloved piece of lore among fans, and many theorize that The Acolyte will show us Darth Plagueis himself. This is but a rumor but, if confirmed, could also guarantee the presence of a young-ish Palpatine.

Are the events of The Acolyte the catalyst for the downfall of the High Republic? We’ll see.

The trailer for Star Wars Acolyte will come out March 19, and the show will begin streaming on Disn🥀ey+ onꦰ June 4.
