I think it’s pretty safe to say that Stick it to The Man! was easily underneath everyone’s radar when it landed on PlayStation 3 and Vita last month. The game garnered one of our highest reviews of the year, thanks to it’s highly unusual art style and excellent comedic chops, and after getting some hands-on with the PC version that is now available on Steam, I feel like quite the fool for waiting so long to see what all the hype was about.
For the most part, the port to PC is pretty straightforward. Options are very minimal for graphic configurations, with only shadows and depth of field settings toggable between off and on. Resolution, at least for my rig, is capped at 1920×1080, but then again this game is all about its incredible hypnotic art style that, I can only assume looks, just as good on systems that meet the game’s minimum requirements.
Controls work just as smoothly for those inclined to go the keyboard and mouse route as they do with a controller. While the game carries a fair amount of platforming, the jumping mechanics are tight and there is never any pressure to make difficult jumps while running from secret agents that could othಞerwise make keyboard controls cumbersome in a more frantic action title.
Additionally, some of the finickiness of trying to grab things using a controller is resolved with the accuracy that a mouse can offer. My only complaint, which is extremely 💦minor, is that there is no option to remap any of the keyboard controls.
Aside from that, there really isn’t any reason for those who — like myself — missed the PlayStation versions of Stick it to The Man! to not give the game a go now that it’s available for PC on Steam. Even better yet, the game can currently be grabbed for o — a whopping 40 percent off its normal price.
