Fallout 4 has some very interesting and even zany weapons for players to make a mes?s with as they explode mutants in The Commonwealth. One of these, the Cryolator gun, is a unique weapon that can be obtained right at the beginning of the?? game, and it doesn’t take much work to get it.

  • Go to the Red Rocket truck stop and get Dogmeat
  • Return to Vault 111 and the Overseer’s office
  • Command Dogmeat to Fetch and he’ll grab the Cryolator from the case
  • Trade with Dogmeat to take the Cryolator from his inventory

Getting Fallout 4’s Cryolator weapon

While in Vault 111 at the very beginning of Fallout 4, players will end up in the Overseer’s office, which has a few goodies to grab before heading out into the irradiated wasteland. One of these, the Cryolator, is tantalizingly displayed in a box behind a Ma?ster level lock. Many people will assume they h??ave to come back later after leveling up lockpicking, but it’s actually simpler than that.

Head out of Vault 111 and skip the exploration of Sanctuary for now. Instead, progress straight ahead, in an easterly direction, and cross the large wooden bridge. You’ll know you’re going in the right direction if you see a tower in the distance with a white ball on top or a Red Rocket sign on an old building. Sniffing around the Red Rocket is Dogmeat, who will become your fait???hful companion if you’ll have him.

With the panting K9 in tow, return to Vault 111. Hit the red button in the nearby t?railer to get the elevator working again, then hop onto it and head back to the Overseer’s office. Make sure you’ve looted everything else in the room. Move the cursor over Dogmeat and hit the A button (on Xbox) to Command him. Then press Y for Talk, Y again for Fetc?h, and X for Items.

Dogmeat will begin searching and grab the Cryolator out of the locked box for you. Note that, while he usually does it right away, it may take a few tries. Open the Command window again, but this time hit X for Trade. This will open the t??rade ??interface, and you’ll see that Dogmeat is holding the Cryolator and 200 Cryo Cells for you to grab.

You now have one of the most powerful weapons in Fallout 4. Firing its cryogenic sp?ray continuously at most enemies will cause them to freeze in place for a short time. While not the best gun in the game, it’s still incredibly fun to goof around with for a while and will definitely give your fledgling Sole Survivor a leg up in the ghoul-ridden post-apocalypti?c wasteland.

Fallout 4 is a nearly perfect experience out of the box, but that doesn't mean a little tweaking with some mods can't make things even better. Mods have traditionally been a PC-only experience, but Bethesda has made it a streamlined and painless process to install mods in Fallout 4 on both PC and console.

Install Fallout 4 mods on PC/console with Bethesda.net

fallout 4 mod menu on pc

  • Launch Fallout 4 on your preferred platform.
  • From the main menu, select Mods.
  • You’ll be presented with a scrollable list of available Fallout 4 mods.
  • Select the desired mod to view the detailed mod description page.
  • Favorite the mod for later use or Download it to install immediately.

Uninstall/disable Fallout 4 mods with Bethesda.net

  • From the Fallout 4 main menu, select Mods.
  • Scroll to the My Library category.
  • Select the desired mod to view the detailed mod description page.
  • Click Disable or Delete, depending on preference.

OR

  • From the Mods menu, press the appropriate button to select the Load Order option at the bottom of the screen.
  • Select the desired mod and hit the indicated hotkey to Disable or Delete it.

A perk of installing mods through Bethesda.net is that you can browse mods on the website to install later. As long as your Bethesda account is linked to your Fallout 4 gam??e, any mod favorited on the website will ??show up in-game in the Mods menu under My Library or My Favorites.

Keep in mind that, if playing Fallout 4 via Game Pass, there are two different versions of the game: console and PC. Mods favorited or installed on PC (and via Bethesda.net) will not show up in the game on console; ?you’ll have to do everything twice if you’re saving The Commonwealth on both platforms.

Install Fallout 4 mods on PC via Nexus Mods

You can also install mods for the game on PC via Nexus Mods, the biggest Fallout 4 modding site. Many of the mods on Nexus are already on Bethesda.net, bu??t if a desired mod is only available on Nexus, the installation process can be simplified by first installing the Vortex Mod M?anager.

fallout 4 nexus mods manager download
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Download, install, and launch Vortex Mod Manager from Nexus Mods.
  • Go to the Nexus Mods website and select the Fallout 4 mod you wish to install.
  • Read the Requirements section of the mod. If you are missing any of the requirements, you'll need to download those first.
  • Go to the Files tab of the desired mod.
  • Click Mod Manager Download. A dialog box opens. Click Download again.
  • This will start the mod download with Vortex. Go to the Downloads tab in Vortex.
  • Once the mod is finished downloading, click Install.

Otherwise, on PC, you'll need to follow specific instructions to manually install the mods and ensure they work with each other. Mod managers like Vortex handle this for you, but either way, you'll be doing some tinkering to make sure everything plays well together. It might take some trial-and-error, but soon you'll be playin?g in a modded Wasteland all your own.

Even longtime fans of the franchise can find themselves a little stumped about how to throw grenades in Fallout 4??, because it’s not entirely obvious. Bethesda changed up the mechanics from previous games a bit and then didn’t provide clear guidance on the new way to do it.

Throwing grenades in Fallout 4 on console

Players will of course first want to equip a grenade, which can be accomplished by pressing B on the controller to open the Pip-Boy. Under the W??eapons section of the Inventory (INV) tab, select the type of grenade you want to wreak havoc with, and then press ??A to equip it.

Fallout 4 throwing a grenade
Screenshot by Destructoid

That arduous task done, exit the Pip-Boy. It won’t appear as if you’ve got a grenade equipped, but a grenade icon should now be visible on the right side of the HUD, above the ammo indicator. This will also tell you how many grenades ?you have left. Hold down the right bumper (RB) and you’ll hear a clicking sound. Aim with the reticle dot in the center of your screen, release RB, and you’ll throw the grenade.

Throwing grenades in Fallout 4 on PC

For PC gamers playing Fallout 4 with a mouse and keyboard, the method is pretty much the same. Instead of RB, you’ll want to press and hold the Left Alt key. Again, you’ll hear a click to replicate removing the pin. Pick your targe??t with the reticle and release the Left Alt key to let fly?.

fallout 4 grenades and mines help menu

In case you ever forget how to throw a grenade in Fallout 4, the Help section provides a handy reminder. The “grenadesentry summarizes this information for both console and PC users, including how to even equip a gren??ade or mine in the first place. There’s also no need to rush to throw the grenade because there is no timer, so it won’t explode in your hand.

Few things are more satisfying than tossing a grenade into a group of ghouls and watching them go flying in all directions. Now, for players preparing to jump into Fallout 4’s long-awaited next-gen update, it won’t be a challenge just figuring out how to t?hrow the darn things.

Following the announcement of Pentiment and Grounded heading to the Nintendo Switch, it seems like Hi-Fi Rush is slamming its way onto the PS5 this March.

The reveal arrived a bit earlier than intended, mind. It seems Bethesda's LATAM YouTube channel pulled the trigger a little too e??arly, confirming the game's release on Sony's console on March 18. The video was swiftly taken down. But an off??icial announcement will probably arrive shortly, now that the cat has officially escaped the bag.

//twitter.com/Wario64/status/1760335033590489447

Hi-Fi Rush is the third Xbox game to head to other platforms

As mentioned, Hi-Fi Rush will be the third game to leave the shelter of the Xbox umbrella. Before the video was unceremoniously unleashed, Pentiment and Grounded were reve?ale?d for the Switch during today's Partner Direct.

The move directly follows a podcast last week in which the Xbox team confirmed that four Xbox-published games were heading to other platforms. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said the change would allow the publisher to "invest in maybe future iterations of those, sequels to those, or other ??games like them in our portfolio." The podcast was announced after rumors began to swirl that Xbox-exclusive games were going elsewhere and that Microsoft may go third-party only in the wake of rising development costs.

All three games confirmed today were revealed in a report by The Verge last week. The only game in the report that hasn't yet hopped the fence is Sea of Thieves. But with three games out of the four now confirmed for other platforms, we'll li??kely hear word on ??Rare's PvPvE pirate adventure soon enough.

Hi-Fi Rush was surprise-launched in January 2023 on Xbox and Game Pass. The cel-shaded, rhythm-based game became an instant hit and quickly earned a passionate fanbase. We loved it, awarding it the best Xbox game of 2023.

We've known that Amazon's Fallout TV series has been in the works since July 2020. Today, we get our first good look at the series' live-action world thank??s to a brand new batch of images.

Vanity Fair released the first set of promotional images from the upcoming video game adaptation. In addition to that, the outlet also had a chance to pick the brains of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the power couple who are showrunners of the Fallout TV series, just as they were on HBO's Westworld.

In the new images, we get to see quite a bit of the Amazon Prime Video series' vibe. There are images of one of the series leads, Lucy (Ella Purnell), both inside and outside her home of Vault 33. We get several looks at The Brotherhood of Steel and their iconic Power Armor Suits. As well as? a couple of looks at Walter Goggins' Ghoul character, who looks fiendishly fantastic.

Image via Amazon/Vanity Fair

The Vault??, uniforms, Power Armor Suits, and of course the post-a??pocalyptic world, all look incredibly accurate to the video game series from Bethesda Softworks and Interplay. And from what Nolan and Joy have conveyed, the story will be faithful to the game franchise too.

Prior to today, the only glimpse of the world we've had was a tease from Amazon back in October 2022. Now, we have a bit more t?o go on. Like the game series, the TV world takes on the aesthetic look of 1940s or 1950s American culture. But, similar to the game series, the show begins with a nuclear war that devastates Earth in 2077. Following the nuclear event, the?? story jumps a whopping 219 years where the core of the Amazon series is set.

The Fallout TV show is scheduled to begin s??treaming?? on Amazon Prime Video in April 2024. Variety's piece is the beginning of what's likely to be a few months of publicity as we near the show's launch. With initial images shared, hopefully a trailer is likely to follow somet??ime soon.

This year's Tokyo Game Show will run from September 21 until Sunday, September 24, and some big presentations are planned. Microsoft has announced that its Xbox Digital Broadcast will be making a return. The company will be sporting a Japanese theme featuring  Maneki-neko the good luck cat, Mount?? Fuji, and Japanese lanterns.

You can catch the show on September 21 at 09:00 AM UTC on YouTube. If you're lucky enough to attend the event, you'll also?? have the chance to gain entrance to an exclusive in-person event?? with Xbox's Phil Spencer.

What to expect from Xbox Digital Broadcast

According to the announcement, you can expect to hear progress updates from Bethesda Softworks and Xbox. ?Microsoft is also planning to reveal new games that are coming to Game Pass.

There are a few upcoming games that have confirmed Game Pass day one launches, including Clockwork Revolution and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. Microsoft's announcement could e??xpand the list even further.

As for Bethesda Softworks, its progress update could go in a few directions. Though Redfall launched to a less than enthusiastic reception, Bethesda has assured gamers that it won't be leaving it out to dry?. The update could be related to upcoming content for ??the game.

In contrast, Starfield has enjoyed a successful launch, and there are a few announcements the publisher could make about the game. Already, modders have done a good job of giving players even more freedom, though Bethesda's Creation Club hasn't been released for the game yet. Bethesda could discuss this, or it could reveal more information about Starfield's upcoming Shattered Space DLC which we're still? entirely in the dark about.

If last year's Xbox Digit?al Broadcast is anything to go by, it'll be an event packed with great reveals. Microsoft won't have Tokyo Game Show to itself, as plenty of studios and publishers have confirmed their attendance, including Square Enix, Atlus, Sega, and Sony, to name a few.

Over the course of reviewing Starfield, I logged almost 100 hours. I spent them building outposts on exotic planets in distant star systems, and rising the ranks at my corporate "desk job" at Ryujin Industries in the cyberpunk-like city of Neon. I romanced Sarah, developing a relationship and—I think—getting married on a ??paradise planet, with beautiful and accurately orbiting moons looming above.

I have a strange history with Bethesda Game Studios titles. Like many people, I'm a fan of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. But maybe less like most people, I've never completed any of them. It has nothing to do with the quality, but these games were just always missi??ng some sort of hook to dig into me pe?rsonally, to keep me playing.

It might be easy to recommend Starfield because it's a Bethesda game. You've spent hundreds or thousands of hours in other Bethesda titles, so why not this one as well? But I want to tell you why Starfield deserves to be played. Not just because it's a ??Bethesda title, but because it's a truly incredible experience that I enjoyed every second of the way. One that, even now, I'm itching to return to.

Welcome to Constellation

Your open-world adventure in Starfield begins just as we saw in the Starfield Direct back in June. You are a? new employee of Argos Mining at a new mining site where a strange object has been discovered. As the new guy, you're sent in to check out and obtain the object so it can be sold to a buyer. Upon touching the object, you have an intense vision that causes you to temporaril?y black out.

When you wake up, the buyer has arrived. The buyer is?? Barrett, a member of Constellation, an organization dedicated to space exploration and findin??g out the secrets of the galaxy. Barrett informs you that due to your interaction with the object—which he calls an Artifact—you should be the one to take it back to the other Constellation members.

But it turns out Barrett was being tracked by some pirates who want to take the Artifact off your hands. This is our first taste of combat in Starfield, a big part of this open-world RPG.

[caption id="attachment_400538" align="alignnone" width="640"]Starfield review combat screenshot Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

A familiar yet refined combat system

Fans of the combat system in previous Bethesda Fallout titles will feel right at home. There is no VATS, but most of the other staple gunplay is there. There are many different types of weapons types including rifles, pistols, shotguns, swords, and more. You can also utilize various different types?? of grenades, land mines, and other explosives. You'll find a plethora of weapons throughout your adventure with unique attachments, modifications, and bonuses. In true RPG fashion, these bonuses increase the stats on your weapon, making them more effective.

The combat in Starfield is fluid and fast-paced. As you progress you'll find better weapons t??hat keep combat fresh and fun. You'll also gain other other effects over the course of the story that further evolve combat in interesting ways. There are constantly new additions to your combat arsenal, allowing you to strategize to take down tougher enemies many levels higher than you. Of course, you can have a companion nearby to help out as well. You can even give them specific weapons and gear you want them to use, which is definitely worth doing.

Some of the best weapons I found inflicted various status effects such as corrosive or fire damage. Crafting weapons lets you get exactly the type of gameplay yo?u're looking for, too. Want? to get up close and personal? Use a powerful shotgun and melee weapon combo. Prefer to keep it at range? Try a long rifle and assault rifle setup. Up to ten weapons can be equipped in quick slots at a time, so you can easily adapt to any sort of fight. However, these slots are also used for other actions like healing via consumables.

[caption id="attachment_400529" align="alignnone" width="640"]Starfield Review screenshot 1 Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Can't forget your ship

Eventually, you'll find yourself engaged in combat in space as well. You'll start with the Constellation ship Barrett gives you, but will eventually outgrow it. Space combat itself is more active, as opposed to a space sim; more like Everspace 2 than Elite Dangerous. You also have to manage where power is being routed to your ship in real time, which can be exhilarating in the middle of a space battle, as you route power between weapons, engine?s, and shields. Oh, and don't forget to save some power for the grav-drive, just in case you have to warp out to prevent losing y??our ship.

Ships have their own stats too, and some ships have their own special focus. Early on, I actually stole a ship from a mining outpost that had a massive cargo hold. It wasn't the best in combat, but the player can upgrade every aspect of their ship, including its weapons. For those just wanting a quick ?upgrade, you can do so by simply purchasing a better ship part that automatically replaces the existing one. But if you're feeling more creative, there's an intricate and in-depth ship-building system where you can literally build and upgrade your ship piece by piece.

Overall, even the slightest ship upgrades are worthwhile. I was once having trouble taking out some higher-level pirate ships for a side mission so I decided to upgrade? the weapons on my ship and give it another try. Before, I was barely making a scratc?h to their shields and hull HP, but with the new upgrades I was decimating both.

[caption id="attachment_400537" align="alignnone" width="640"]Starfield review screenshot 5 Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

So much to do in the vast field of stars

After taking out the pirates you will head to New Atlantis, the capital city of the United Colonies. It is here you will meet your fellow Constellation members. Afterward, the main story of Starfield begins as the player is tasked with tracking down more of these Artifacts and trying to figure out their purpose. At this point, Starfield becomes a massive open-world sandbox. From here o??n out your journey is whatever you want it to ?be.

Personally, I did a little bit of everything. This is where Starfield really shines: the freedom to do what you want in a massive sandbox. I'd often warp to a system where I planned to complete a main story mission, only to encounter someone needing my help. Hours later, I'd be lightyears away from where I originally warped, constructing a new outpost and genuinely forgetting how I got there. I didn't help because it felt like I needed to, but rather I wanted to. The writing in Starfield is top-notch, even in side missions that may seem like an inconse?que??ntial part of the galaxy.

There's really so much to do in Starfield. For those into exploration, you can literally scan every planet and moon in the entire game. Each planet has its own resources, flora, fauna, and special landmark sites on them. Findi??ng and scanning everything a planet has to o?ffer will grant Survey Data, which you can then sell for a nice profit or return to Constellation to advance their exploration efforts.

Resources aren't just for looks, either. You can mine various deposits scattered amongst the surface by hand, or even build a mining outpost to extract resources from a planet while you are away. Over time you can even build up your outpost to have production facilities as well, converting your resources into various manufactured goods. Eventually, you can have several outposts on various different planets all automatically sending resources to each other. Starfield essentially takes the settlement building from Fallout 4 and cranks it up to 100. And at the end of the day, this is still just one of the many things to do in Starfield.

In fact, a lot of the fully fleshed-out activities could literally be their own game. I spent hours climbing the ranks of the corporate ladder of Ryujin Industries, a megacorporation in the city of Neon. Not because I had to, mind you. In fact, I'm sure some people may never even experience this part of Starfield. Ryujin Industries is your typical corrupt megacorporation, doing anything to increase profits. My first job was to do a coffee run to the Terrabrew down the street, but before I knew it I was planting evidence and considering assassinating a high-value competitor. I won't say Ryujin is Starfield's Dark Brotherhood... but maybe?

Over the course of my playthrough, I did a little bit of everything. Whatever Starfield threw my way, I was excited to try. I once stole an item worth a measly 500 credits—it was an honest mistake, I swear—and didn't even realize I had the stolen item on me. Apparently, there was now a 550 credit bounty on my head, and a United Colonies ship spotted me leaving a planet and apprehended me. I definitely didn't think all this fuss was worth it over a measly 550 credits. But on board, the ship captain, a higher-up in the UC military, basically blackmailed me into working for the UC to have my charges dropped, or face harsher penalties. This started a whole new plot line where I was now ?infiltrating the most infamous pirate gang, the Crimson Fleet, as a double agent for the United Colonies. I'm not joking when I say this entire plotline could have been its own game.

Character growth done right

In total, there are 80 different skills across five different trees from which to choose when building out a character in Starfield. Each skill also has four ranks, requiring the previous ?rank and completion of a challenge tied to it to unlock the preceding rank. And each successive rank is better than the previo??us.

The physical tree focuses on skills that increase your physical prowess. This includes melee damage but also health, carrying capacity, food and drink effectiveness, and more. For those more interested in how they socialize with others in Starfield, the social tree give increases your efficiency with things like diplomacy, intimidation, and persuasion. The combat tree—as the name would imply—focuses primarily on increasing combat effectiveness, such as increasing damage with ce?rtain weapon types. The science tree enhances your scientific capabilities, such as scanning and outpost efficiency, and even increases the resources obtained by mining and harvesting. Finally, the tech tree focuses primarily on increasing the effectiveness of your ships, as well as hacking (lockpicking) and how y?ou interact with robotics.

With so many options, you can really specialize your character however you w?ant. You get a skill point to place every time you level up, and there is no max level. So in theory, you can always keep leveling up and obtaining new skills. To give you a rough idea of how many skills one might obtain, I was level 35 when I completed the main story missions.

A beautiful galaxy full of life, choices, consequences, and Unity

I'm sure a lot of people are going to be updating their desktop wallpaper after playing Starfield. Bethesda has created a beautiful piece of our galaxy, in many different ways. I don't think I've ever played a game where I've stopped and enjoyed the view so much. My PC is certainly not a beast by any means. In fact, my CPU is over five years old and my video card, the RTX 2080 Super, is several series behind. But Starfield is extremely well-optimized. I was able to maintain 60FPS or higher for most of my playthrough on High settings. The soundtrack is equally beautiful, reminding me a lot of Interstellar. There's not a single track ??I didn't enjoy, and they all fit with the theme of space and exploration.

Visuals and music aren't the only beautiful parts of Starfield, though. Many characters have their own charming personality as well. This is enhanced by the facial animations in Starfield which are vastly improved over previous Bethesda titles. Over time connections are built with your Constellation companions. Throughout your adventure, they'll often join you as a companion or crew member on your s??hip. They each have their own reason for being part of Constellation, as well as their own side missions that further flesh out their story. You'll have to make some tough choices along the way, and in turn, there are some rough consequ??ences. There's some real weight behind the decisions you'll make, which maintains its intensity throughout the entire game.

There are moments when the beautiful surroundings and intriguing characters come together so well that creates a very realistic feeling. The stakes can be high in Starfield, but sometimes you have to stop and take in the beauty as well. I'm purposefully keeping this review spoiler-free, but know that some of the big-picture narratives of Starfield hit pretty hard. The ending won't be for everyone; but for me, as the credits rolled, I sat and thought for a whil?e about life, the universe, and my interpretation of it. A definite first for me afte?r completing a game.

A future as bright as the sun

Even though this is Bethesda's biggest game yet, it may also be its least buggy. Sure there are some trademark silly Bet?hesda title bugs, like characters loading in bald with no hair, or NPC's getting stuck walking into a chair or behind held in place by a little mug on the floor. But throughout my nearly 100 hours I never once encountered anything game-breaking.

There are definitely some things I feel could enhance the Starfield experience even further. Even though you can land right next to mission objectives and points of interest on a planet, it would have been nice to have access to some sort of planetary vehicles or even rideable creatures to get around a bit easier. This is especially true when taking on the task of trying to survey and scan an entire planet. Some plants and creatures only exist in specific biomes, and it can be a long-haul trekking from one to anothe??r.

I also think it would have been a great touch to be able to actually fly your ship down onto a planet, or fly around in a planet's atmosphere as opposed to only landing and lifting off. Not only would this be fun, but it would?? help add to the freedom of being able to truly explore a planet.

Upon completing Starfield you do unlock a New Game Plus mode. Interestingly, NG+ is actually intertwined with the story of Starfield, which is pretty unique and very intriguing. I will say that the bit of NG+ I have played has been just as fun as my first playthrough. Without spoiling anything, I can confirm it adds a ton of replayability to Starfield and even more content to experience in an already massive open-world ??game.

I'll be honest, even as I wrap this up, I still feel like I've forgotten to include some of the incredible features Starfield has to offer. I know I left out a lot of memorable moments I experienced throughout my play. Realistically, this review could be triple the length it already is. But I don't want that; I don't want to spoil anything. Starfield is a truly incredible experience that will be special for everyone. Explore the piece of the galaxy Bethesda has created how you want to, and create your own stories. It's where Starfield really excels.

I wasn't sure if it could be done, but Bethesda has managed to raise the bar for sandbox games even higher. In the end, Starfield is an epic sandbox open-world RPG with a beautifully immersive universe, a captivating story, and fun and compelling gameplay the whole way. I'm so happy to have experienced Starfield organically, and I rea?lly hope you get to as well.

In case it's not enough to have Vasco as a companion in Starfield, you can also have him as a companion in real life. The official Xbox Gear Shop has revealed an exclusive Starfield Vasco Funko POP! which is available for pre-order now.

The 4.05-inch tall charismatic and loveable vinyl fig??ure robot companion can sit on your shelf at the price of $17.99 plus shipping.

Unfortunately, Vasco won't be there in time for you to start your journey in the stars in Starfield. In fact, V?asco won't ship out until Fe?bruary 2024.

The orange, red, and white Funk POP! actually looks prett?y cool. It's a pretty good representation of Vasco as well, even with the VAS-119 identifier on the front.

Even though it would be cool to have an army of Vasco's, you are limited to only three units per order.  According to the listing, the quantities are limited for the exclusive fi?gu?re.

I wonder if we'll see other members of Constellation such a??s Sarah Morgan or Ba?rrett in Funko POP! form eventually.

Starfield releases on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be on G??ame Pass day one. If you pre-order the pr?emium edition you can get access a few days early on September 1.

Sorry, I had to. The Starfield pre-launch hype continues with a specially crafted song from Imagine Dragons. The song, titled Children of the Sky, incorporates the main theme music from the open-world RPG. In the video for the song, we also get a special fly through the world—well, universe—of Starfield.

In the video we get a look at the protagonist, our playable character, walking across the surface of various planets with beautiful skyboxes above. Some of these views are ones we haven't seen before, but that's to be expected as Starfield has over 1,000 planets in total.

Imagine Dragons is no stranger to making music specifically for games. Their hit song Radioactive was used heavily in the promotion of Assassin's Creed III back in 2012. Also, Imagine Dragons has made music specifically for League of Legends and its hit animated Netflix series Arcane.

Whether you're a fan of Imagine Dragons or not, one thing is certain about Starfield: the hype is very real. If you are a fan of the song, it's already available on all music streaming platforms like Spotify.

Starfield releases on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be on Game Pass day one. I?f you pre-?order the premium edition you can get access a few days early on September 1.

During the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 stream, two cool dudes—Todd Howard and Geoff Keighley—stood on stage and discussed Starfield.

"People have been wondering what the main questline is going to be after you create your character," Geoff explained to Todd, highlighting the deep character customization system in Starfield. "I sa??w even someone on the internet this week created you I think, did you see that? Someon?e tweeted out a picture that they had somehow figured out to get you in there."

Todd laughed, then followed up with "I see a lot of things on the internet...I'm?? not sure that's ?real."

So that got me wondering: Did someone actually make Todd Howard in Starfield? After doing some searching, I was able to find this image of what appeared to be a pretty accurate portrayal of Todd Howard in Starfield:

[caption id="attachment_398417" align="alignnone" width="640"]Todd Howard Starfield photoshop Image via @sergioodoardi on Twitter[/caption]

It looks like Todd Howard was right

As great as it looks, Todd Howard was right. It's not real. Even though it may look like a detailed version of Todd Howard in Starfield, it's just a fake. More than likely just a really good Photoshop. As @FabianoLPeres on Twitter pointed out, the hair shaders that we've seen from videos highlighting the character creation simply do not match up. Don't get me wrong, the hair shaders look great and very d??etailed—but not to this extreme.

Also, the Twitter user that first posted the Todd Howard in Starfield image, @Sergioodoardi, has posted another Starfield character creation fake: Commander Shepard from Mass Effect. However, in t??his? image, it's a lot more obvious that this is just intended as a funny photoshop.

With the Early Access launch of Starfield rapidly approaching, it won?'t be long until we start seeing some cool creations. I'm sure we'l?l end up seeing a pretty solid depiction of Todd Howard after all.

Starfield releases on PC and Xbox Series X|S on September 6. It will also be on Xb??ox Game Pass.
