Brighter Shores early access build has a host of different console commands available for the users, and they wi??ll help you surpass some of the limitations when it comes to general functionality.

The new launch has been pretty popular among gamers, and its free-to-play nature has drawn in new players to the genre. So far, the console commands available in the game are largely basic in nature. In fact, they are mostly related to the settings side of things, rat?her than allowing you to use them as cheats. Nevertheless, some of them are incredibly helpful, and they allow you to bypass some of the limitations that are part of the default client.

Complete list of Brighter Shores console commands

Let's first take a look at the full set of console commands available currently in Brighter Shores.

Command Function
build_string prints the build string of the client
clear clears all console text
close closes the console
fake_lost_context simulates losing the GPU context
fake_out_of_driver_memory simulates running out of driver memory
fake_out_of_total_memory simulates running out of total memory
get returns the value of a variable
help shows every available console commands and key presses
quit immediately quits the client
resize Attempts to resize the window according to the specified dimensions
set sets a variable value

As I mentioned, the console commands don't help you to enable hacks like God Mode by any chance. Given the nature of Brighter Shores, that will be completely unfair on the?? general popular base, and allow some to gain an undue advantage.

There are variables as well that are part of the console commands. It's best not to tweak with them, as they're related to the developer side of things?? in Bright??er Shores.

Variables Values
show-zones true, false
roster-servers Any string
show-heap-memory true, false

The fourth and current final area of Brighter Shores, called Crenopolis, is also the biggest zone in the MMORPG. In fact, it's massive size compared to the other three areas can really make it quite overwhelming if you don't know where to look. This is the complete Brighter Shores Crenopolis map so you can see where you need to go to find ?certain NPCs or quest locations.

Brighter Shores Crenopolis Map and Key Locations

As the largest area in all of Brighter Shores, Crenopolis is home to all the normal services such as a Dye area, Storage Rifts, Portal Stones, and an Obelisk. But there are also many areas that serve as raidable buildings?? as part of Crenopolis' Detective profession. There are also many trade stalls for you to interact with for the Merchant profession.

Alongside the standard services, there are some Crenopolis unique ones as well including the Council Office, the Guardho??use, and the Merch?ants Guild. Despite the massive size of the city, it's actually relatively easy to navigate once you know the layout.

Crenopolis Teleport Locations

There are two Portal Stones in Crenopolis, with the first one being located just outside the city and to the west. You'll encounter the Crenopoli??s Outskirts Portal Stone just outside the West Gate of Crenopolis as you first head towards the area. You can find the ??Portal Stone just south of the Cyclops East Pass.

The second Po?rtal Stone is located in the far east of the area, inside the city of Crenopolis. The Crenopolis Market P??ortal Stone is the fastest way to get around on the actual inside of the city, and can be accessed by going south from the East Player Market.

Merchants Guild

The Merchants' Guild in Crenopolis is the main hub for completing the Merchant profession is Brighter Shores. The Merchants' Guild, which is located on the eastern side of the city, is home to the Guild Bounty Board which you will use to complete delivery bounties for th?e Merchant profess?ion. Just keep in mind you can only have six active bounties at a time.

If you're actively trying to progress through the Merchant profession, you'll constantly unlock more bounties that you can unlock at the Guild Bounty Board at the Merchants' Guild in Crenopol??is, so you'll frequent this locale.

Guardhouse

The Guardhouse is essentially the central hub for the Detective profession in Brighter Shores. Inside the Guardhouse you will find the Guardhouse Lobby that has the Detective Depot NPC. Here you can purchase the various tools required for the Detective profession including handcuffs, magnifying glasses, binoculars, and evide??nce books.

Further inside the Guardhouse is the Investigation Hall that has access to Investigations that you will need to level up Detective. Finally, the Interrogation Room and Guard's Archive are both home to various passive activi?ties you can do to level? up your Detective skill while offline or AFK.

Council Office

A Crenopolis exclusive area, the Council Office serves as the only place in all of Brighter Shores that you can change your name othe??r than the first time you purchase a Premium Pass subscription and are prompted to do so.

Keep in mind, however, that you will still need an active Premium Pass subscription in order to interac?t with the NPC inside the Council Office? and actually change your name.

City Dyes

Like the other major areas, Crenopolis is home to a City Dyes building where you can paint your various armors to stand out from other players in Brighter Shores. You can also dye various weapons to help stand out as well. The City Dyes area in Crenopolis is located in the southeast area of the city off of Ratm??ore Road.

Tannery

In the south??east corner of the map, just outside the actual city of Cr??enopolis, you will find the Tannery to the east of Tanners Road. At this building you can bring Hides you purchase from the Hide Stall on the Waterfront, which you can gain discounts for by leveling your Merchant profession.

Once you bring the hides to the Tannery in Crenopolis, you can use the hides on the various Tanning Stations to turn them into Leathers. From here, you can either sell your Leathers at the Leather Stall in the Outer Market in Crenopolis, or store them in your Leathers Storage until the fifth area of Brighter Shores is added to the game whi??ch will have Armorcrafting that uses the Leathers.

Crenopolis Storage Rifts

There are three Storage Rifts in Crenopoli?s, which like the other areas,?? allows you to store items for professions in them and will automatically apply them to the applicable storage.

The first Storage Rift in Crenopolis? is found in the northwest corner on Murkwell Court. It can be accessed by heading North from Lord's Road West, then north from Hopton Corner, then north again on Rat Alley. This is right next to the Crenobelisk area as well.

The second Storage Rif??t can be fo??und on the northside of Crenopolis on Private Road. From Thadwick Square, head north onto Peacock Road South then north again on to Peacock Road Central. From here, head east onto Private Road and you will find the Storage Rift.

The third and final Storage Rift in Crenopolis can be found on the southern part of the map on Thimble Lane. This is a particularly useful Storage RIft because you can head south to Waterfront, by hides from the Hide Stall, head east to the Tannery and turn t?hem to Leathers, then back to the Thimble Lane Storage Rift to store the Leathers.

Crenopolis Obelisk

All areas have an Obelisk in which you can tune your equipment to, which allows previously Untuned gear to?? be used in that zone. The Obelisk in Creno??polis is located on the northwest side of town, accessed by heading down Rat Alley then onto Murkwell Court, and then north to the Crenobelisk. Equipment tuned at this Obelisk will be useable for the Watchman profession in Crenopolis.

The Gatherer profession gains a lot of importance in Brighter Shores once you reach Hop??eforest, and leveling it up quickly almost?? becomes a necessity if you want to proceed through the in-game content.

Like every profession, leveling u??p Gatherer requires you to perform the tasks that directly contribute to it. At first, this profession will seem similar to Forager, but there are some key differences between the two. Without any more delay, let's look at how the profession exactly works in Brighter Shores an??d how you can level it up pretty fast.

How does the Gatherer profession work in Brighter Shores

To level up Gatherer, you'll have to pick up different items. These would mainly be wild plants, which are common ??in the Hopeforest region. Some of these items are important to level up the Chef profession?, as they help you to complete specific recipes.

Most of the items you'll pick as a Gatherer will be required for Alchemist recipes. Brewing potions will be crucial to clear content in Hopeforest, as fights with enemies like the Giant Newt can ??be extremely difficult if you're not using them. Leveling your Gatherer profession will directly help you to improve your Alchemist profes??sion as well and save your resources from having to get more motions.

How to level up Gatherer fast in Brighter Shores

The main objective is to pick up the different things you can find in Hopeforest. Picking the higher-level items will help yo??u gain more XP and level up your Gatherer profession quickly. If you plan to focus on your Gatherer profession, try to clear out your inventory as much as possible. Only keep a couple of XP Hopeforest Potion, which helps you get 5% extra XP from all your activities. This will allow you to level up all your professions quickly.

If you want to obtain an even better value from your work, try not to sell any raw ingredients. Instead, process them into potions and cooking recipes, allowing you to get better returns from the items you collected. You'll also level up your Chef and Alchemist professions quicker through this process, which will help you prepare better for the Mines of Mantuban region.

The third area in Brighter Shores is the Mine of Mantuban, a cavernous mine with plenty of rocks and ores veins and home to the goblins and gnomes. Even though it's technically the smallest zone of the four, it can be tricky to traverse due to an underground river that splits some of the maps in half. This is the completed Brighter Shores Mine of Mantuban Map as well as all the points of interest so you can get wher?e you need to.

Brighter Shores Mine of Mantuban Map and Key Locations

As you complete Hopeforest's Main Story quest you'll unlock the third area in Brighter Shores, the Mine of Mantuban. Unlike the first two zones which are accessible to all players including those who are on Free-to-Play accounts, the Mine of Mantuban is the first zone that requires users to have a Premium Pass subscription to access the zone.

While Mine of Mantuban is the smallest zone of the four currently in Brighter Shores, it has a bit of tedium to navigate due to an underground river that runs through the center of the mine, mea??ning you have to loop around to?? access the top half of some maps, or head around and under to access the bottom half.

Mine of Mantuban Teleport Locations

There are two Portal Stones in Mine of Mantuban, with one accessible right from the start and the other accessible after unlocking the Bronze Gate area while working through the Mantuban's Legacy quest. Here are the two Portal Stones in Mine of Mantuban in Brighter Shores:

  • Mine Southwest Portal Stone - Located in the far west of Mine of Mantuban, accessible immediately after entering the area for the first time.
  • Mine Deep Portal Stone - The second portal stone can be found in the far northeast of Mine of Mantuban, accessible halfway through the Mantuban's Legacy quest after unlocking the Bronze Gate areas.

The Bone Vats and Boneworks

In the western part of the Mine of Mantuban you will find the Bone Vats and the Boneworks. This is the crafting area for the Bonewright profession, one of the five professions available in the Mine of Mantuban. The Bone Vats area has two storage locations for Bones and Timber. This is also where you will prepare various Bones to? be used with Timber to ?be crafted into various weapons for the Guardian class.

The Boneworks is where you will actually use the prepared Bones and Timber to craft into various Guardian Weapons. Any weapons crafted here will level up your Bonewright profession and wil?l also be Untuned, meaning they can be tuned to any of the four zones to be used there.

Stonemasonry Room and Sculpting Room

At the far southern area of the Mine of Mantuban, beyond all the ??mines where you can mine ores and stone, you will find the Goblin area that also leads to the Stonemasonry and Sculpting rooms. Here you will find storage locations for both Timber and Stone. In the Sculpting Room, you can prepare Stone to be used when crafting.

In the Stonemasonry Room, you can use prepared Stone and Timber to craft weapons for the Hammersmit?h class. Any weapons crafted here will level up your Stonemason profession and will also be Untuned, meaning they can be tuned to ?any of the four zones to be used there.

Goblin Workshop and Gnome Forge

Just above the Stonemasonry and Sculpting Rooms, you will find the Goblin Quarters as well as the Goblin Workshop. Inside th?e Goblin Workshop, you can smelt ores down and then forge them into various weapons using Ingots and Timber to le??vel your Blacksmith profession.

As ?you progress in your Blacksmith profession you will even?tually need to head to the northeast area of Mine of Mantuban to continue Blacksmithing. Throughout your progression of the Blacksmith profession, you will head back and forth between the two crafting areas.

Any weapons forged using ?Ingots and Timber will be for the Cryoknight class. Any weapons crafted here will level up your Blacksmith profession and w??ill also be Untuned, meaning they can be tuned to any of the four zones to be used there.

Storage Rift Locations

Th?e Mine of Mantuban has two Storage Rift locations which you can access after completing the Spider's Nest quest in Hopeforest which unlocks access to the Storage Rifts.

The first Storage Rift is located in the western part of the Mine of Mantuban inside a long narrow area called the Mine?? Cart Tunnel. This tunnel connects the Abandoned Mining Cavern with the Bridge Cavern, and the Storage Rift can beside in the middle of the tunnel.

As for the second Storage Rift, you can find it on the northeast side of the Mine of Mantuban, north of the undeground river. You need to cross the Upper Bridge then head west into the Upper River Bend, then north again into ????Rockling Cave where you will find the Storage Rift.

Leech Pools and Gassy Grotto

There is a very unique mechanic in the Mine of Mantuban that requires you to fill the crafting tables for Stonemason, Bonewright, and Blacksmith using gas. In order to do this, you will need to head to the west side of Mine of Mantuban to the area called the L??eech Pools where you can collect Gas Leeches. Then head east through the Bat Cave, into the Gassy Cave, and then into the Gassy Grotto.

Here you can intera??ct with Gas Vents as long as you have Gas Leeches that will fill them up with gas. Return to the crafting tables and you can interact with tanks connected to them to add the gas to the machines allowing you to use them for? crafting. Gas Leeches, filled or not, cannot be stored anywhere, so you will want to collect and fill these as needed.

Mine of Mantuban Obelisk

The Mine of Mantuban Ob??elisk which can be used to tune any Untuned Gear to the Mine of Mantuban zone, can be found in the middle of the area. From the Mine Entrance, head south down the Mine Cart Tunnel, across the Bridge Cavern, and into the Bat Cave. Continue south to the Andesite Site then head east into the Gassy Cave and north into the Rocky Passage. Cont??inue north into the Big River Cavern then go south into the Mossy Corner that leads to the Tenebrous Tunnel.

East of the tunnel is the Kobold Cavern, before you'll head north into the Riverside Goblin Cavern. Head east along the underground river to reach the Upstream Gobling Cavern and then the River Bend. Once at the River Bend, head south and yo??u will find the Mine of Mantuban Obelisk.

One of the first side-quests Brighter Shores players will stumble onto as they explore Hopeport revolves around finding the estranged Brannof Family's lost fortune. Finding this hidden treasure trove isn't easy, but it is a fantastic way to familiarize yourself with the standard A-to-B pattern most Bright Shores' quests follow.

The road to the Brannof's inheritance is long and winding, but you'll reach the gold at the rainbow's end if you follow my lead. Here's how to find the Brannof inheritance in Brighter Shores.

How to start the Brannof Inheritance Quest in Brighter Shores

Brighter shores Brannof Inheritance Hayley Brannof
Screenshot by Destructoid

You'll receive the Brannof Inheritance quest from Haley Brannof, owner and operator of Hopeport's Scrapyard. Starting from Town Square, head south until you reach the Central Waterfront. Then, h??ook west to the Sea Road. The Scrapyard is a small bui??lding to the northwest.

Once you're in the Scra??pyard, talk to Haley. After you listen to her family's tragic history and agree to help her reclaim her inheritance, Haley explains you'll need to decode four clues split amongst the Brannof's descendants. She'll give you her clue immediately, which shows a spiral symbol. Then she'll give you the names of the other three clue holders: Lord Brannof, James Newtap, and Oswald Hadley.

How to get Lord Brannof's Falcon Clue

Brighter Shores Brannof Inheritance Lord Brannof's tracking spell
Screenshot by Destructoid

Lord Brannof is the ruler of Hopeport, and you can find him going about his lordly duties in Br??annof Hall. Just head west from Town Square to get there. Lord Brannof will be in the room to the north. Lord Brannof is, understandably, suspicious you'll try to run away with the treasure once you find it, so he asks you to allow a tracking spell to be cast on you before he parts with his clue.

To place yourself under surveillance, head back to the training grounds and speak to Sultar Malzak. Once you've explained the situation, he'll head to Brannof Hall. Head back to Brannof Hall and watch Malzak cast the tracking spell. Once thoroughly ensorcelled, L?ord Brannof will give you his clue, which features a falcon symbol.

How to get James Newtap's Clue

Brighter Shores Brannof Inheritance James Newcap
Screenshot by Destructoid

James Newtap ??has the next clue you'll need. The handyman is fixing a perpetually leaky pipe in the Pipe Alley, w??hich you can reach by heading east from Town Square until you reach the second screen of Old Street East and then hooking into the alley between the Cloakroom and The Forager's Wearhouse.

Newtap isn't particularly interested in the treasure, but he still wants something in return for giving you his clue. That something is a potion th??at will restore his lost hair. Luckily, Ebsworth of the Hopeport Apothecary knows how to brew such a potion. Head to the Apothecary to talk with him and learn how to brew it.

Quick note: you must have raised your Potion profession to level fifty. Raising your level in any profession to that high of a level is tricky, so you'll want to take advantage of Brighter Shore's Passive Activity system t?o raise your Potion professi?on passively while you work on other things.

You'll need a lock of Hair Beast Hair and a Scrap Rat to brew a hair loss potion. You can find the Hair Beast Hair from the Hair Beasts on the Rubble Road. The Rubble Road is north of Sea Road, past Overgrown Pond. You'll want to be at least a tenth-level Guard before you try to take on a Hair Beast since they're pretty tough. Hair Beasts won't drop Hair unless you've talked ??to Ebsworth, so make sure you speak to him before you go hunting.

Getting a Scrap Rat is more complicated since you need to catch the grimy rodent alive. As their name implies, Scrap Rats live?? in the Scrapyard, so you'll? need to head back there after Ebsworth gives you a hunk of Red Cheese, the little vermin's favorite snack.

You can use the Red Cheese on a Scrap Rat directly, but that won't let y??ou catch one. Instead, click on the bathtub in the room's corner and put the Red Cheese under it. Once a Scrap Rat has taken the bait, click on the bathtub again and pull out the broom, holding the bathtub up to catch your quarry.

How to get Oswald Hadley's Clue

Brighter Shores Brannof Inheritance Oswald Hadley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The last clue holder is tricker to find than the others because Haley only gives you their last name, Hadley. Luckily, you don't have to look far to find someone with that surname. Oswald Hadley is a regular at t??he Delectable Dab Resutant, and you can find him sitting at the table off to the right of the entrance.

All Oswald wants for his clue is a serving of Bigeye Gurnard Soup??. You'll need to have at least sixty-one levels in the Cooking profession to make this dish, so you might have to p?ut this clue off until you've leveled the skill up enough.

To cook the Bigeye Guranrd soup, you'll need Stock and a Bigeye fish. Once you're a sixteenth-level cook, you can buy the stock from Kevin, and once you're a?? fifty-ninth-level fisher, you can fish Bigeye at the Pirate's Hideout. Once you've got them, read the Recipe Book in the ??Restaurant's kitchen to learn the recipe. Serve it to Oswald, and he'll give you his clue.

How to find the Brannof Inheritance

Once you've got all the clues, it'?s time to start treasure hunting. You'll need to pick up an Ink and Quill before you d??o this, so stop by either Captain Jal Degreene's office or Lord Brannof's chambers and grab one of their desks.

To find a clue, look for the symbol on the O??verworld and check it. You'll find the spiral symbol on the wall next ??to the scrapyard and the falcon symbol on a pillar on the first screen of their Wasteland. Once you've crossed them off, you can triangulate the treasure's location!

Once you're into the second map of Brighter Shores, the Sc?out professio??n will be of extreme importance when it comes to clearing in-game content.

In many ways, the Scout profession works pretty similar to Guard, which is the first profession you pick up (rather, start with) inside the game. The nature of the two professions is pretty similar as well, but there are subtle differences. Let's take a look at how you can become an expert Scout in Brighter Shores and the activities that yo??u'll need to prioritize ?in order to level up quickly.

Brighter Shores Scout profession explained

In many ways, the Scout profession is an upgraded version of the Guard profession. While both profe??ss??ions will be active at the same time, you'll need the former to defeat enemies in the Hopeforest region. When it comes to combat rules, however, it's pretty much the same.

Enemies marked in red will always attack you if you come too close. Those marked in orange won't attack you unless you start a battle first. It's quite natural that the enemies in Hopeforest are far more complex, and some of them can even attack you with ranged damage. Thankfully, you'll have the use of a new set of weapons and armor to dispose of the dangers. Let's take a look at how you can level up this profession in Brighter Shores.

An image of Brighter Shores
Image via Fen Research

How to level up Scout profession fast in Brighter Shores

Leveling up Scout is pretty similar to leveling up the Guard profession. You'll want to engage with and defeat as many enemies as possible. But always try to be careful not to start a fight with a foe you can't possibly defeat. Additionally, the Hopeforest region allows you to pick a faction once you discover the Magic Cave.

Aligning with a faction will ??make your attacks better against certain types of enemies, but you'll also be on the receiving end of greater damage. Always make sure to focus on the elemental weakness of an enemy you're going to face.

Lastly, having the XP potion boost enabled in Hopeforest will help you gain 5% extra XP. Unlike a few other professions, leveling up Scout entirely depends on you playing Brighter Shores and gaining the XP directly.

Where to get the Hand Rake

You can purchase the Hand Rake for 43 Silver and 200 Copper from the merchant V??encent the Shopkeeper located in the Timberwell Supplies shop in Hopeforest. You will also need to be Level 4 in the Gatherer profession to be able to purchase the Hand Rake.

To reach the Timberwell Supplies, you want to head to the southwest corner of Hopeforest as indicated on the map above, then head to the Timerwell Suppleis? shop located off of Timberwell Side Road. Once you reach Timberwell Green, the wide open area with Ash Trees and access to the Carpentry Shop, head west to reach the Side Road and then north to enter Timberwell Supplies. You'll find Vencent the Shopkeeper behind the counter ready to sell you the H?and Rake.

Even though you can purchase the basic 1🌟 Hand Rake at Level 4, there are three total Hand Rakes and three Sickles you can purchase throughout the leveling process of Gatherer. Here are all the other Hand Rakes and?? Sickles you can purchase for Gatherer:

Level Tool
4 1🌟 Hand Rake
48 1🌟 Sickle
111 2🌟 Hand Rake
144 2🌟 Sickle
221 3🌟 Hand Rake
454 3🌟 Sickle

All six tools for Gatherer can be purchased from the same Vencent the Shopkeeper NPC in the Timberwell Supplies shop in Hopeforest. Make sure you upgrade y??our tools when you can to have access to gathering the highest level materials and earning the most XP.

It's only been a few days since Brighter Shores launched in Early Access, and An??drew Gower already has a huge community update to share regarding his vision behind the game's progression system. Although there has been some fear and confusion surrounding its episodic nature and how skills carry over, Gower has laid out a complet??e explanation for everything.

In a recent update post from the Brighter Shores team, Gower almost immediately clarifies that any profession levels you gain during episode one in Hopeport will remain even after you venture i??nto the game's second area, Hopeforest. Although you won't directly use these professions in the forest, they'll remain on your character as a Hopeport-specific skillset.

In short, if you decide to teleport or run back to Hopeport during your playthrough which you will do very often, even after entering episode two and beyond you'll have your five starting skills at the same level you left them. Those 25 fishing levels you spent hours grinding for Lost Shipment won't go away anytime soon. You just won't need to fish while you're running around in Hop?eforest.

Gower also explains why, exactly, he implemented this system. He details that his goal was to create an enjoyable experience for both players that grind for hours a day and those who only spend a few min?utes. As he explains further in the post,

However, when we introduce new episodes we? want them to be fun for everyone. But if there was a single combat profession across the whole game, and the monsters in episode 5 started at level 100 for example, then all the players who play a lot would already be a way higher level than that. They would find it way too easy, skipping past a huge chunk of the start of the episode, and then find that they don't have much to do. Conversely, all of the players who only play a little would find it way too hard and wouldn't be able to take part in episode 5 at all!

Gower continue??s to highlight alternative solutions to this issue, explaining that features like autoscaling and level caps have their own cons that can outweigh their benefits. By splitting each region into various professions and keeping past ones intact in previous zones, you can freely swap back and for?th without losing progress.

I'll admit that when I first discovered Brighter Shores' variation of skill progression, I was also a little skeptical of whether I'd enjoy it. Although woodcutting and carpentry sounded fun, I wasn't looking forward to having to swap back and forth between Hopeport and Hopeforest if I wanted to make a few potions or catch a fish. Around eight hours later, and it's starting to ?grow on me.

Alongside these concerns, Gower mentons some changes Brighter Shores' team has planned, including some additions they've already implemented. Their November 8 update for the game introduc?ed minimap routing, keybind customization, and improved quest difficulty indicators, showing they're very aware of recent community feedback. He also mentions that adding?? content combining multiple combat levels across various areas is still on the table, so we may see some late-game bosses with some interesting new mechanics by the time the game fully releases.

One of the first five professions you have access to in Brighter Shores is Fisherman, accessible in the first zone of Hopeport. Most of the fish you will fish up in Brighter Shores are used in two of the other Hopeport professions: Alchemist and Chef. We've put together this Brighter Shores Fisherman Guide so you know the best way to level the Fishing profession and where you can find all?? the fis??h as you level up.

How to level the Fisherman profession

In Brighter Shores, you'll level Fishing by simply catching fish around Hopeport. From Level 0, you'll want to purchase a Fishing Spear for 12 Sil??ver at Melv's Fishing Supplies in Hopeport. This will allow you to use your Spea??r to do some Spearfishing for the early catchable fish including Flounder, Eel, and Gurnad.

A good rule of thumb when leveling Fishing is to constantly upgrade your Fishing equipment as you unlock it, and always fish the highest level fish you have unlocked. For example, start with Mottled Flounder then switch to? Lesser Eel at Fishing Level 2 and Sandy Pufferfish at?? Level 4. Higher-level fish not only give more XP, but you can sell them for more money at the Fish Stall.

You also unlock a better Fishing Spear at Level 15 that costs a whopping 12?6 Silver, but adds 5% more XP when Fishing, so it's worth grabbing. Other equipment will be required to catch certain fish, such as a Fishing Rod to start catching Dab and other fish you can't catch with a Fishing Pole.

How to AFK Level Fishing

Like other professions, you can start AFK or offline leveling your Fishing skill in Brighter Shores upon reaching Level 20. At?? Level 20 you'll start earning Knowle?dge each time you do any actions. Once your Knowledge bar reaches 100%, you will receive a Knowledge Point. You can invest this Knowledge Point into unlocking passive skills for the profession of your choice.

The first passive skill you can unlock for Fisherman is the ability to catch Common Dab at Level 20. By spending one Knowledge Point on this skill, you can then offline and AFK fish up the Common Dab in Hopep?ort to slowly gain XP while offline or idle.

In the event you know you are going to be offline for a while, check your Fisherman tab and look for the highest level Fish with a blue circle next to it. This indicates the fish can be caug??ht while idle or even offline, so start the process before logging out to ensure you'll come back to some XP and fish. Of course, these fish give a lot less XP compared to normal fish, but it's at least a way to continue leveling passively.

All Fish Locations in Brighter Shores

The Carpenter profession is one of the most useful in Brighter Shores, and it will have plenty of applica?tions as you explore the Hopeforest region.

The Hopeforest region is distinctly different from Hopeport, and as the name suggests, there are plenty of trees. Naturally, you'll be using the Woodcutter and Carpenter professions quite a lot. Doing so will level up both professions?, but you'll want to gain as much XP as possible to unlock new possibilities in terms of items you can create.

Brighter Shores Carpenter profession explained

The Carpenter profession, linked closely with the Woodcutter profession, allows you to process the raw wood. This will help you create valuable items that can have different uses in quests, and you can always sell them for money. Most of the wooden recipes will always result in double carpentry p??roducts.

Leveling up the Carpenter profession is really important, as it will unlock more reci??pes. Once you've leveled up to a ?certain degree, some of the items you create using wood can be processed a second time as well. Such items, like poles, can fetch high value once you sell them at the Carpenter's Workshop.

How to level up the Carpenter profession in Brighter Shores

To level up, you'll want to engage i?n activities that directly result in you gaining experience points. For Carpenter, you'll have to process as much wood as possible at the Carpenter's Workshop. This workshop is located at Timberwell Green, and the job can get a bit tedious.

Thankfully, the process will benefit you in several ways. For starters, your woodcutter profession will also be boosted (although you can buy the wood if you want to reduce the grind, and I won't recommend this method). You'll also get some useful items by processing the wood. Even if you might not have direct use for those items immediately, you can always sell them to gain money in Brighter Shores.

Performing the activities with the XP potion active will also?? help you gain 5% extra expe??rience points (anything extra helps).

As I mentioned, you can get wood from Gwen's Lumber, but this will cost a lot of extra money, and the process isn't sustainable at all. It's better to grind the hard way and get all the wood by yourself. You can also unlock the branches for the Carpenter Passive Activities, but I am not a fan of that method either. To make it effective, you'll have to depend on the Woodcutter's Passive Activities.

While it might sound boring, the best way to improve your carpentry skills in Brighter Shores is to consistently obtai?n wood and then proce?ss it in the workshop.

One of the several quests in Brighter Shores' mai?n storyline involves finding a Giant Crystal in the Hopeforest location,? and this mission can be pretty hard to complete.

The nature of the quests changes radically once you get to the second episode, an?d Hopefrost is filled with corruption. Driving the corruption away can be a difficult job, and you'll realize that?? as soon as you find the Giant Crystal of the corruption. That said, knowing what to do will make your life a lot easier.

All Giant Crystal items locations in Brighter Shores

The Giant Crystal of Hopeforest is part of the Nullify the Corruption Quest, and it requires you to find some specific item. This quest is part of the main storyline, so you can't miss it by any chance. Before starting the quest, make sure to open the Magic Cave and pick a faction of your liking.

This process will make you interact with a Dryad, wi?thout whom opening the Magic Cave is impossib??le. Make sure that your Woodcutter profession is at least at level 8 and Scout is at least at level 20. You are also going to need plenty of potions, so make sure to stock them up.

An image of Brighter Shores

Once done, head?? to the Crystal Clearing location. Here, you'll find the Giant Crystal and your fellow guards, who are all under the negative influence of corruption. Once you dispose of the threats, the Dryad will instruct you t?o find specific items to get rid of the corruption.

Getting the two Glowing Beetles is eas??y, as y??ou can find them in the surrounding areas. The remaining items will be much harder to find.

Item Location How to find
Glowing Mushroom This item is located in the Mushroom Grove, which can be found by going west to the Overgrown Trail. Then go south through the Bramble Path, and you'll be where you need to be. Just pick up the mushroom and add it to your inventory.
Glowing Fern This item is located near Hopeforest Ferry, and you'll actually have to repair the ferry. For this, you'll need two As Logs. Then, take the logs to the Carpenter's Workshop and convert them into Ash Planks. Add the four Ash Planks to your inventory, and take the road to Mine Road West. Then, head south through the Tree Lined Trail and Tree Lined track. Once you repair the ferry, you'll be attacked by a Giant Newt. Avoid the orange colored tiles unless you want to take d??amage and get stunned.

You can attack the Newt once it attacks and comes to the surface. After a few hits, it will go back into the water, ??and then the process repeats. Just complete it a few times to kill the Giant Newt.

Once the creature is defeated, the ferry will take you to a small area across the river with two zones. Pick up the Glowing Fern and add it to your inventory.

Glowing Honey To get this item, head north from the Hopeforest Central Portal Stone (where you teleported to after picking up the Glowing Fern). Once you reach Stump Clearing, turn left, and go to Bear Clearing. Once again, head north and cross the bridge to reach Two Headed Bear Clearing. The Glowin??g Honey can be found hanging from a tree, but you'll have to defeat the Two-Headed Bear before you can attempt to retrieve this resource.

The key is to avoid a special attack, which can do a lot of damage. Once you manage to defeat the bear, you can collect the honey in a Jar (make sure to carry it with you).

Once you have completed collecting all the items, go back to the Giant Crystal, and clear it of the corruption. This will progress the main story of Brighter Shores, and puts you in t?he brink of unlock??ing the next chapter.

Grinding in Brighter Shores will undoubtedly get tedious over time, especially when you have to level up each Profession. Fortunately, you can use two handy tricks to make it feel less monotonous, saving you a whole lot of time. Here's how to AFK XP farm in Brighter Shores.

Brighter Shores AFK XP farming guide

To AFK XP farm in Brighter Shores, you can create concoctions at the Apothecary shop or utilize a Passive Activity. The second option allows you to accumulate XP even when you're not actively playing Brighter Shores. However, if you're just starting out, the Apothecary method is a good way to get a head start, as t?he Passive Activity requires?? a significant amount of grinding to unlock.

Acquring materials for the Apothecary Profession is the first thing you need to do for this method. You'll collect Brown Kelp from the Forager Profession during the beginning stages. Then, you'll work your way up to other materials with the Secateurs tool. Collect as many items as possible to create a bun?ch of recipes at the Apothecary. Set yourself up at the Reagent Preparation Station, and your character will start crafting all available concoctions automatically.

Use this time to step away from the keyboard, allo??wing you to come back for some nice and easy Alchemist XP points. You can also use the Standard Potion Station to make potions, which provides even more XP.

How to AFK XP farm with Passive Activity in Brighter Shores

Now, let's move on to the following Brighter Shores AFK XP farming method with the Passive Activity. You'll unlock this feature after you've acquired Knowledge Points, a system available to those who reach Level 20 with? a specific Profession. Here's what steps you need to tak?e:

  1. Reach Level 20 in a Profession
  2. Continue to level up in this Profession until you gain a Knowledge Point
  3. Unlock the Passive Activity
  4. Participate in designated Passive Activity
  5. Log out of Brighter Shores
  6. Return to gain some XP

As an example, I focused on leveling up the Guard Profession by engaging in repeated battl?es. Once I reached Level 20, I got the chance to earn the next reward with the Street Louse Passive Activity.

More grinding is involved after this, but it doesn't take as much time as the Level 20 step. If you are trying to do this route, just start defeating enemie??s again, and you'll gradually see your Know?ledge Points go up. At 100 percent, you can unlock the Street Louse via the Knowledge section. Go to Wilhope Passage near the Hopeport Obelisk to begin this task.

Street Louse Passive Activity

Start attacking?? the Street Lice there, where you'r??e permitted to log out and begin the AFK XP Farm.

Once you return after some time has passed, you'll receive a notification that provides your XP for the designated Profession and some money. The longer you're gone, the more rewards you'll collect. That way, you can level up your character without too much grinding, saving you the stress of constan??t Profession activities.

As you explore the first area in Brighter Shores, Hopeport, you may stumble across the Fallen Monument area located in the southwestern area of the Overgrown Fields. There's not much direction as to what you're supposed to do with this area, so we've put together a Fallen Monument Pieces guide so you know how the mechanic works in Brighter Shores.

What is the Fallen Monument

The Fallen Monument in Brighter Shores is the rumble and ruins of an old monument that was destroyed many years ago. An NPC at the Fallen Monument is working on rebuilding it, and will enlist your aid for help in doing so. After speaking with the NPC, she will inform you that she has to rebuild the Fallen Monument in stages, requiring different-sized pieces for each stage. Onc??e you collect Monument Pieces, you can return and sell them to the NPC to make some Silver for helping her rebuild the Fallen Monument. However, once you've given her the total number of pieces she needs for a specific Stage, she will no longer buy pieces of that size.

In the final stage for repairing the Fallen Monument, you need Miniscule Monument Pieces which requires Level 490 Forager to collect. The time required to grind out levels for professions in Brighter Shores is quite s?ignificant, so no ?one is near close enough to have gathered the required Monument Pieces to finish rebuilding it. As such, no one knows what will actually happen when the Fallen Monument is completely repaired.

An important note is that despite Brighter Shores being an MMORPG, the repair status and progression of your Fallen Monument is exclusive to yo??ur account, meaning you will not see the repair progress achieved by other players. Only you can fix your?? Fallen Monument.

How to get all Monument Pieces to repair the Fallen Monument

How to get all Monument Pieces to repair the Fallen Monument

In Brighter Shores, the entire process of collecting Monume??nt Pieces goes through the Forager profession. As such, you will need to level the Forager profession in order to collect all the Monument Pieces needed to rebuild the Fallen Monument. The very first Stage of repairing the Fallen Monument requires Huge Monument Pieces whic??h you can begin collecting via the Forager profession at Level 14 Forager. Here are all the Monument Pieces you will need to collect to rebuild the Fallen Monument and the Forager Level you will need to do so:

Fallen Monument Stage Monument Pieces Needed (Size) Forager Level Required
Stage 1 Huge Monument Pieces 14
Stage 2 Hefty Monument Pieces 23
Stage 3 Substantial Monument Pieces 53
Stage 4 Chunky Monument Pieces 71
Stage 5 Large Monument Pieces 107
Stage 6 Big Monument Pieces 119
Stage 7 Medium Monument Pieces 155
Stage 8 Average Monument Pieces 173
Stage 9 Fair Monument Pieces 228
Stage 10 Middling Monument Pieces 265
Stage 11 Small Monument Pieces 377
Stage 12 Weeny Monument Pieces 415
Stage 13 Teeny Monument Pieces 452

Every Profession in Brighter Shores is anchor?ed by a tool of the trade, each one a gateway to valuable resources a?nd character XP. While some items can be found relatively easily, others might not be as apparent.

So, if you're struggling to get proper Foraging tools, here's how to get and use Secateurs in Brighter Shores.

Where to find Secateurs in Brighter Shores

You can purchase Secateurs at the Forager's Warehouse (Old Street East) for 13 Silver and 200 Bronze. However, to unlock this option, players must reach Level 2 of their Forager Profession. This can be achiev??ed by searching through Brown Kelp during the tutorial. To locate the warehouse, go toward the right side of the map to spot a brown-c??olored house.

Zoom in closer, and you'll see the door?way to the Forager's Warehouse. Deadly crows will be nearby, but you can just pass them to get inside.

Speak to Ella to claim one Secateurs with Silver and Bronze. If you don't have enough, you'll need to do some grinding. You can do so by fighting with the e?nemies outside and selling goods to the merchants. Silver?? might be the more challenging to find since you'll only get a few of them at a time. The best way to get it during the early stages is by selling bundles or recipes.

For example, you can sell 10 Flounders at the Frequently Fresh Fish Stall to claim one Silver. Not much, I know, but at least it gets you something. You can sell other unwanted resources at the Training Grounds (Quartermaster), The Delectable Dab's Kitchen (Head Chef), The Forager's Warehouse, and Stone Street's Apothecary Shop. Once you have enough money, you can now get the Secateurs in Brighter Shores.

How to use Secateurs in Brighter Shores

With the Secateurs in hand, a world of possibilities opens up. You can start foraging higher-level plants, such as the Creamy Wallplants outside the Forager's W??arehouse. Snip them away with the Secateurs, and you'll soon be gathering this valuable resource.

You can utilize Creamy Wallplants with the Brown Kelp, creating a 20 percent Preparation Healing mixer at a Reagent Preparation Station. This mixer is particularly valuable as it significantly boosts the healing properties of the potion, taking it a step above the standard 10 percent. Then, use the mixer at a Standard Potion Station to obtain the healing potion. This can all be done at the Apothecary Shop, which isn't too far from the Fora??ger's Warehouse.

By the time you reach Forager Level 4, you can use the Secateur to pick up White Periwinkle at Brannof Boulevard. Combine it with the Horn Shell utilizing a Level 4 Alchemist rank to gain the 5% Preparation XP Hopeport mixer. A completed potion gives ??you five percent more experience points while at Hopeport, making? it much easier to level up. You can likely use the Secateur on other Forager-related items, so make sure to increase your rank for better ingredients.

If you want to level up your professions in Brighter Shores?? faster, you'll have to focus on something called Passive Activities and ?how they work inside the game.

There are over 15 different professions curren?tly available in Brighter Shores, and you unlock them gradually by playing the game. You can also level them up by performing various types of tasks that match their corresponding profession. However, leveling up certain professions can be harder, and that's? where Passive Activities can have some huge advantages.

How do Passive Activities work in Brighter Shores

Passive Activities do precisely what their names suggest, and they make your in-game grind easier. Typically, you unlock a profession and level it up by performing a task??. So, if you're trying to level up as a Fisherman, you'll want to catch fish. The same applies to all other professions as well.

Passive activities help you automatically gain XP for a particular profession. Th??is allows you to use your energy to level up other professions. The passive XP that you gai??n in this fashion will also unlock different rewards that are applicable as you level up a profession.

An image of Brighter Shores
Image via Destructoid

The XP that you gain with Passive Activities works at a slower rate. Gaining XP with the help of activities that you directly perform will always work faster and help you level up quicker. That doesn't necessarily?? mean that the passive system is useless. In fact, it allows you to gain XP and rewards even when you've logged out.

As much as you may love Brighter Shores, it's impossible to play non-stop throughout the day. This passive growth system will ensure that you keep gaining valuable XP and rewards even when you're not playing ??the game (although the?? pace of obtaining them might be slower).

To get more Passive Activities, you'll need something called Knowledge Points. You will gain this item as you keep leveling up your professions (you can check your progres?sion?? from the Professions tab). Once you have gained a Knowledge Point, you can invest it to unlock a new Passive Activity.

The Magic Cave is perhaps the most important location you get to visit in the Hopeforest region of Brighter Shores, and it involves you picking between on??e ??of the three available functions.

As you begin your adventure, Hopeforest will remain locked. You'll have to clear the quests in Hopeport before you can make your journey to the second region. Entering?? the Magic Cave will allow you to pick the faction you want, but before that, you'll need to know where to find it in the first place.

How to go to Magic Cave in Brighter Shores

While opening the Magic Cave is relatively easy, reaching it will take you at least a few hours. Episode 1 must be complete, as?? you'll need access to the Hopeforest region.

  • Once you reach Hopeforest, search for all your companions.
  • Go to the Dryad Glade and kill the Mutant Stag to save the Dryad.
  • As a thank you, you'll get a Dryad Leaf.
  • Head northwest, and you'll find the Thin Trail.
  • Go past the Narrow Path near Tangled Lane.
  • To open the Magic Cave, you'll need the help of the Dryad. Use the Dryad Leaf to summon him.

Once the cave is? opened, head inside to pick a faction.

All factions in Brighter Shores

There are three available factions in Brighter Shores. All of them have their? respective strengths and weaknesses, and you can pick only one of them.

Faction Element of use Threat Weapons
Cryoknight Cryonae (Ice Magic) Tempestae (Lightning Magic) Metal
Guardian Arborae (Nature Magic) Cryonae (Ice Magic) Bone
Hammermage Tempestae (Lightning Magic) Arborae (Nature Magic) Stone

Which faction should you pick in Brighter Shores?

This is one decision you can make based on wh?at you like. As I said, every faction counters one another they will have a weakness against one and do extra damage to the other. Some of the enemies you com??e against in Hopeforest will do attacks of all three types mentioned in the table above. Simply put, all three factions will thrive against some and struggle against the rest.

Irrespective of your choice, always pay attention to the enemy attack types and their immun??ity. You'll want to concentrate on their elemental weaknesses, as that will allow you to do extra damage. Concentrating on these decisions will be far more critical on most occasions, but having a faction that does favorable damage will be? helpful.

A name might not have much value in Brighter Shores, as it certainly won't help you to clear out the contents ?or grind q?uicker.

But still, Brighter Shores is a game best enjoyed with your friends, and having a cool name could have a special value. When ??picking a name for the first time, you might not have put much thought behind typing a few letters. Thankfully, there's a way to rectify and change your name if you're not satisfied with what you used the first time.

Brighter Shores name change explained

While you can change your name in Brighter Shores, the method is limited i??n the sense that you can't use the feature if you're free to play. The ability to change name is available onl??y to those who have an active subscription to the Premium Pass.

If you have already subscribed to the Premium Pass, you can use the Rename feature to choose a new name. This can also be done later with the help of Eri?c Inkwell, who can be found at Crenopolis.

An image of Brighter Shores name change
Image via Destructoid

Access to the Premium Pass offers even more customization options. Free-to-play users have no way of using unique names, and they will always have a suffix at the end of th??eir title. Unique names can't have a duplicate inside the game, which makes your title feel unique.

Do note that the ability to change your name will be available as a pop-up the first time you log into the game after subscribing to the Premium Pass. You'll be able to change it again from Eric Inkwell once you've unlocked Crenopolis and the quests of that region. You'll always need an a??ctive membership to the Premium Pass for this function.

The Premium Pass also offers plenty of extra gameplay content, as it unlocks two extra regions - Mine of Mantuban and Crenopolis. The regions come with their own places of interest, professions, and more. If you're still unsure about buying the Premium pass, make sure to check out ??our review of the microtransaction and its offerings.

Even though you'll start your journey alone, you won't have to play it solo for too long with Brighter Shores' multiplayer mechanics. You must complete a particular objective to reach this point, giving you access to various co-op features. Here's how to add friends in Brighter Shores.

How to play with friends in Brighter Shores

To add friends in Brighter Shores, you must unlock the Level Up quest in the Main Story. This part of the narrative involves the game's tutorial stages, requiring you to find Delana's Bow, defeat goblins, and craft some potions. Once you've completed these steps in Hopeport, you'll gain access to the Priva??cy Settings. Changing these specs is crucial, as it can lock you out of specific co-op features.

Open the Setting?s in the top-left corner of the scree?n (Gear symbol). Select 'Change' via the Privacy Settings. Then, press 'Anybody' on the '4. Who can you send friend invitations to?' section. You can also select the box for the third section if you want your friends to send an invitation to you instead.

For more access, ensure to click on 'Anybody' or 'Friend' for the other prompts, including accessibility with direct messages and whether or not people can see when you're online. These specs are mainly just additional features and are not necessarily required for Brighter Shores' adding friends process.

With the correct features activated, adding friends in Brighter Shores is a breeze. Simply click on Community, the people icon in the bottom-right corner, and press the Friends section to access the Invite Friend interaction. Enter t??heir full name in the box, and don't forget to include any # suffix to ensure it works properly.

Those who have buddied up with a fellow player in-game can also add them as friends through the Community ?section. Look at Nearby Players to see a list of everyone around you. Then, select the name of the person you want to add and press 'Send Fri??end Invite.'

When this option is unavailable, the other party has likely turned off specific specs in their Pr??ivacy Settings. That means you won't be able to perform an interaction s?uch as this.

In Brighter Shores, you can have up to 200 friends and a limit of 50 messages in you??r inbox. If you need to add anything more than that, you'll likely need to delete some to make room.

Brighter Shores might not offer you too many choices at the beginning of a new adventure, but there are several professions to explore as you ??gradually progress through the game.

The latest MMO utilizes professions in a slightly different fashion, but they allow you to perform several tasks. All your available professions are active at the same time, and they gain XP based on the nature of the task. As you become more proficient in different occupations, you'll gain better rewards and quicken your in-game progression. Let's take a look at all the available professions in Brighter Shores.

Complete list of professions in Brighter Shores

Professions in Brighter Shores aren't picked when you're making your character for the first time. Instead, they get unlocked gradually as you complete specific tasks. Certain ?professions are part of the main questline, whereas a few might remain hidden (but you can discover them quite easily).

Episode Profession
Hopeport Guard
Hopeport Chef
Hopeport Fisher
Hopeport Forager
Hopeport Alchemist
Hopeforest Woodcutter
Hopeforest Scout
Hopeforest Gatherer
Hopeforest Carpenter
Mine of Mantuban Miner
Mine of Mantuban Minefighter
Mine of Mantuban Blacksmith
Crenopolis Merchant
Crenopolis Detective
Crenopolis Leatherworker
Crenopolis Watchperson
Stonemason

Some of the professions ??are pretty easy to unlock. While we all begin as a Guard in Brighter Shores, you can unlock Forager, Fisher, Chef, and Alchemist as part of th??e starter quest. This is pretty easy to complete, and you won't have to think too hard.

It's more than likely that the professions restricted to Mine of Mantuban and Crenopolis can only be unlocked if you're subscribed to th?e Premium Pass. You can pay a nominal fee to access the additional content, which will help you to quicken your progress.

Make sure to check out this guide if you want to learn about unlocking the Forager and Fisherman professions. Additionally, you can also use Knowledge Points to improve the efficiency of these and all other professions available in Brighter Shores.

The Brighter Shores saga starts out as a free-to-play game until you eventually come across its premium features. If you're on the fence about it, we're here to explain if buying the Premium Pass is worth it, including details on perks and p??rices.

Is the Brighter Shores Premium Pass worth it?

The first thing you should do to help solidify your decision is to simply play the game. Fortunately, the early stages are free to access, giving you a better idea of what Brighter Shores has to offer. If you still want to play more after you've done all you can in Hopeport and Hopeforest, buying the Premium Pass is definitely worth it. You'll gain access to more areas with the premium?? bundle, providing you with many more quests and professions.

I suggest seeing how far you can get with Brighter Shores Early Access storyline, then make your choice once? you're locked out of content. But now, the question remains: How much does the Premium P??ass cost?

All Brighter Shores Premium Pass costs

Brighter Shores offers four tiers with the following subscriptio??ns:

  • Free: $0 (limited amount of content)
  • Subscription: $5.99 every 30 days
  • 90-Day Pass: $23.99 one-time purchase
  • 365-Day Pass: $74.99 one-time purchase

If you're still unsure about the purchase, the $5.99 a month lower tier is a good starting point. You can cancel at any time and then consider the higher tiers if you're enjoying ?the game. It's important to note that the prices listed above are fixed for the Early Access period, but Fen Research has indicated that it may increase as more episodes are added.

All Brighter Shores Premium Pass Perks

The Brighter Shores Premium Pass comes with these perks:

  • Access to Hopeport (included with Free tier)
  • Access to Hopeforest (included with Free tier)
  • Access to Mine of Mantuban
  • Access to Crenopolis
  • Create a unique character name without a # suffix
  • Exclusive armor dyes (when you reach Crenopolis)
  • Change your name (when you reach Crenopolis)
  • Player-to-player trading (when you reach Crenopolis)

The Mine of Mantuban allows you to take on the Min??er, Minefighter, and Blacksmith professions. Crenopolis also provides more career opportunities, including Detective, Leatherworker, Merchant, and Watchperson. Initially, you'll begin with professions like Alchemist, Forager, Fisherman/Fisherwoman, Chef, and Guard. These careers will be a part ??of the Free tier, which can help you understand the game's Profession system.

Crenopolic harnesses many other features, specifically with the name change system. If this all sounds like something that interests you, it should certainly give you more than enough reason to get the Premium Pass. But, of course, you can always stick with the free path to save some money in your pocket. It should also be noted that player-to-player trading has yet to be accessible in-game. According to the Brighter Shores Premium Pass description, this mechanic will be "coming soon" for ?these particular users.

The main story quest in Brighter Shores will introduce you to the MMORPG's mechanics and professions while also taking you through all four of the game's zones. Starting in Hopeport, you'll join the Guard and eventually be attacked by enemies and forced to defend. One of your fellow guards, Delana, loses her Bow and asks you to find it for her. Here is where to find Delana's Bow for the Main Story quest in Brighter Shores.

Where you can find Delana's Bow

You can find Delana's Bow by heading into the Guard Barracks building located directly behind Delana, and then looking behind the light blue Bed on the north end of the Barracks. You'll see the Bow sticking up behind the bed which you can?? interact with to pick it up for Delana. Head back outside and talk to Delana and tell her you have found her bow, then hand it over to her.

Handing ov?er Delana's Bow to her will complete this part of the Main Story quest and allow to continue forward with it. You'll then have to line up with your other fellow Guards before going out and defending the Town Square from the attacking enemies.

A good tip when doing quest??s like this where you need to find certain items that may be hidden or harder to see, is to use your Sense ability by clicking the Eye icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. When you use Sense, your character sends out a pulse that will highlight everything on the map you are currently on that can be used, interacted with, or picked up. This is a great way to find hard to see items and also to see which interactable spots are located on the map for you to use your various professions on.

As you start to level up your character in Brighter Shores, Knowledge Points will have immense val??ue to help you improve your character.

In Brighter Shores, there are plenty of professions, and they don't work like the typical class system in MMO. You d??on't get to pick one of them. Instead, all of them will be available at the same time, and you'll have to level them all up t??ogether. This is where the Knowledge Point system comes in, and it can help you level up things far more quickly.

How to get Knowledge Points in Brighter Shores

The process of getting a Knowledge Point is directly related to the level of your profession. Whenever you gain XP by taking part in an activity, you'll contribute to achieving a Knowledge Point. The progress can be seen from the Professions tab, which will show your current progress and the exact rewards that you'l?l receive.

Every form of activity that you undertake will help you increase your progress in gaining a Knowledge Point. It's unclear as of writing (since I have gained just o?ne so far) if you can stack Knowledge Points or i?f you'll have to spend them immediately. If it's the latter, there are three ways to spend these valuable points in Brighter Shores.

How to use Knowledge Points in Brighter Shores

Knowledge Points can be used in thr??ee different ways.

  • Unlock Passive Activity
  • Increase XP of a specific profession
  • Sell for money

The recommended use is to ??unlock Passive Activity, which allows you to gain passive XP for a profession of your choice. You can also use a Knowledge Point to increase the Passive Activity level of a specific profession, which will unlock ??better rewards.

If you no longer have any Passive Activity to unlock, the Knowledge Points can be used to increase the XP for a profession to get new rewards as w??ell. Make sure not to spend your points on getting money, as that's the least advisable way to spend ??this resource.

Forager is one of the several professions available in Brighter Shores, and unlocking it is relatively easy.

In fact, the unlock condition is directly part of the main quest, and hence, you can't miss it by any chance. If you're strictly sticking with the main quest, this will be the second profession you'll u?nlock. The process begins after you've enlisted as a guard and cleared the tutorial, so read to know what you exactly need to do.

How to become a Forager in Brighter Shores

Becoming a Forager is easy - just pick a resource from off the ground. When you're starting?? out, t?his is tricky. Most of the decisions you make are strictly based on the main quest.

  • Clear out the first couple of goblins.
  • Help out the civilian to carry his goods safely.
  • Return to your captain, and you'll find that one of your fellow guards is gravely injured.
  • Go to the Apocethary, and you'll be tasked with finding Brown Kelp.
  • This item will require you to travel all the way to the docks.
  • You'll pass through four different regions, but you can't get lost because all paths that aren't required will be locked.
  • Go to the coast and pick up some of the Kelp lying around. You'll find three ores to pick up and get all of them.
  • Picking the first one will automatically unlock the Forager profession for you in Brighter Shores.

You can also unlock the Fisherman profession along the way. This can be done from the Eel Bridge location, and you'll have t?o travel over the spot to complete the quest. If you're still confused as to how to do it, make sure to check this guide out.

If you've already unlocked the Fisherman profession, this guide will help you out with th??e correct locations where you will be able to find the fish to catch.?? Once you've unlocked a profession, make sure to complete tasks that will help you level up your profession and gain Knowledg??e Points along the way.

Fisherman is the second profession you get to unlock in Brighter Shores. Naturally, it can be u??nlocked pretty early, but this profession isn't a part of ?the main quest. Hence, it's pretty easy to miss as you run around the map finding vital resources.

  • Complete the tutorial for the goblin attack to take place.
  • Fend off the initial batch of goblins and help out a civilian to ferry his goods to a cart in the Town Square.
  • Once you return, you'll find that one of your allies has been gravely wounded in the battle.
  • You'll have to head out to find Brown Kelp to save their life.
  • Go north from the Town Square, and you'll come across the Eel Street Bridge. You'll have to cross the bridge, and two goblins will be waiting for you.
  • Once you defeat the goblins, look down below the bridge.
  • A fish will be highlighted in bright blue.
  • Click on it, and you'll unlock the Fisherman profession.

Becoming a Fisherman in Brighter Shores will allow you to fish in suitable spots. However, you can't do that immediately, as you won't have the necessary equipment. To catch fish, you'll need a fishing rod. Make sure to check out our fishing guide if yo?u?? want to become an expert angler and catch fish whenever you want.

Alongside the Main Quest in Brighter Shores, each of the four regions have five unique and exclusive quests that can be?? completed for various rewards and to work towards completing the zone. In Hopeport, the first quest you can tackle is The Lost Shipment. We've put ??together an extensive The Lost Shipment quest guide to help you complete the entire questline.

Requirements

While you can pick up this quest at any time by visiting Brannof's Dining Room in Hopeport, there are a few requirements to actually completing the quests. In order to catch a Fetid Flounder you'll need Level 25 Fishing, and to fight enemies at the end of the quest you'll need a certain Guard level and some equipment. You'll also need some Silver and Copper at various points of the quest to progress. These are the full requirements to complete The Lost Shipment in Brighter Shores:

How to start The Lost Shipment quest

You can start The Lost Shipmen quest in Brighter Shores by heading to Brannof's Dining Room located on the western side of Hopeport. From the Town Square, head west onto Brannof Boulevard and then west again into the building called Brannof Hall. Head west one more time into th?e next room and you wil??l be in Brannof's Dining Room.

Inside Brannof's Dining Room you will find the NPC Cohen, who starts The Lost Shipment. He tells you?? that a shipment of weapons is missing and tasks you with finding it before informing you that you should follow up with Captaini Shirker of the ship the Vincible who is currently docked at port. He also hints that a patron of the Hooked Hand tavern probably has a lead as well.

Speaking with the Clientele of The Hooked Hand

The Hooked Hand can be found on the beachfront in southern Hopeport. From the Town Square, head south across the Eel Street Bridge then further south across Eel Street until you reach the Central Waterfront. On the northern side of the Central Waterfront, to the left of ??the ent?rance back to Eel Street, you will find The Hooked Hand.

Insid??e The Hooked Hand you'll find several NPCs you can sp?eak to: Nelson, Wellington, Harris Slant, and Grood the Barkeeper. The two sitting at the table on the right, Wellington and Nelson, are who you need to speak to. However, they aren't too keen on speaking to a Guard of Hopeport, which you are, so you need to appear more presentable.

Unequip all of your weapons and armor and then speak to Wellington and Nelson. Choose the option 'I wish I could find a seller of Carthian plumbatae.' The two seem confused and think it's a fruit, but thankfully the other NPC in The Hooked Hand, Harris Slant, overhears your con??versation and offers a lead: a dangerous man known as The Illusion.

You'll have to communicate with The Illusion in secret throu?gh the Frequently Fresh Sish Stall on Eel Street, but to send a message you'll first need a Fetid Flounder.

How to catch a Fetid Flounder for The Lost Shipment

In order to catch the Fetid Flounder quest item in Brighter Shores you need to be at least Level 25+ in Fishing. Head south of Hopeport to the coast then west until you reach Sea Road. From here, head North to the Overgrown Pond. Inside the small pond here you will see a single Fetid Flounder swimming around. As long as you have Level 25+ Fishing and a Fishing Spear, you can catch the Fetid ?Flounder. Now it's time to write out the actual Carthian plumbatae? order to The Illusion.

How to write an order to The Illusion

The second part of contacting The Illusion is to write a note with your order for the Carthain plumabatae to put inside the Fetid Flounder. Head north to the ??Guard Outpost in Hopeport, and then into Captain Degreene's Office. ??On the desk behind Degreene you will see both a Paper and a Ink and Quill. Pick them both up which will add them to your Toolbelt.

Now click on either the Ink and Quill or? Paper on your Toolbelt and choose to use it with the other. When asked what message to write, choose to place an order for 2 Carthian?? plumbatae.

Both the Fetid Flounder and the Weapons Order will be in your quest-related inventory located in the top right corner after clicking on The Lost Shipment quest. Click on either one of them and then choose 'Use Item On' and choose the other item to combine them. You will get a confirmation that you stuffed the note into the Fetid? Flounder.

Head back to the Fishmonger in the center of Hopeport and choose ??to Talk to him. Choose the option 'Would you be interested in this Fetid Flounder?' to which he will offer you 98 copper. Not exactly big money, but that's ??not your intent here.

Once you've handed over the Fetid Flounder, you'll notice the Bush to the left of the Fishmonger can now be interacted with. Do so and choose 'Lurk Behind' to hide behind the bush which will trigger a cutscene showing a Furtive Stranger buying the Fetid Fl?ounder from the Fishmonger.

Speak to Captain Shirker

Follow the Furtive Stra??nger to the nearby Wilhope Crossing and then further East to Wilhope Passage, then immediately North to Monoob Row. You will see the Furtive Stranger head inside the building on your left. Unfortunately, you need more information to enter this building, as the current options you have when trying to get inside the locked door will not grant you entry. It's time to do the other part of this quest.

Return South then head East into Little Square. Head south to Limpet Lane then South again to the East Waterfront. In the southeast corner you will find the Vincible, a ship docked at Hopeport. Take off your equipment and Speak ??with Captain Shirker on the Vincible and tell him you can entertain him somehow. If you try talking to him with your equipment on, he'll say he doesn't want to squabble with guards.

Captain Shirker will indicate he'd like a good meal from The Delectable Dab. Choose the option 'Why don't we go there now?' and he will immediately head there. Head to The Delectable Dab which is located on the north e?nd of town off Stone Street. Talk to Captain Shirker inside and order the Chicken Pie, and hand over the 2 Silver 760 Copper for the meal.

When Captain Shirker asks about your job, tell him you are an aspiring ?hero. Afterwards, ask him about his meal, and then finally tell him you heard he lost a shipment for Cohen the steward. He will get angry, after which you need to choose the option 'You met an imposter? That's terrible. You must be so annoyed.' Offer to track down the imposter for him, after which he will give you the ?man's description.

Track down the man in the Blue Waistcoat

Head to the ??Town Square and you will find the man in the Blue Waistcoat standing in the southwest corner??. Tell him you know he recently acquired plumbatae and then tell him Captrain Shirker told you. He tells you that he gave the weapons to The Illusion who is planning to sell the weapons to the Emperor of Bevah who is sending his assistant Monobrow Sam but has been delayed by storms. However, to disguise yourself as Monobrow Sam, you'll first need a monobrow.

Visit the Hairdresser

Head east from the Town Square to Old Street West and enter the building on the right, which is the Hairdr?esser. Speak with the Hairdresser and tell him you'd like a monobrow. If you're wearing a helmet, you'll need to remove it first. It will cost 8 Silver and 280 Copper to get the monobrow haircut. When he finishes, sure enough, your character will have a monobrow. Once you're finished with the quest, you can return to the hairdresser to have it removed if you do not like the look.

Return to the locked door on Monob Row

Leave the Hairdresser then go East onto Old Street East and South down Tim's Alley to Little Square then West to Wilhope Passage and north onto Monob Row. Interact with the Locked Door and say 'I am Monobrow Sam.' They will unlock the door so head inside and you will see a Level 30 Thief and Level 30 Furtive Stranger. Talk to the Thief and choose 'I'd like to see these w??eapons.' He will break open the crate to reveal the plumbatae to you, at which point you can tell him you're talking them for yourself.

This will trigger combat with the Level 30 Thief so make sur??e you have decent Guard equipment on. I had mostly Level 15ish equipment and was a Level 20 Guard when I fought this battle. After defeating the Thief, you will heal up and then immediately fight the Furtive Stranger. It was a close battle but I won. If you lose the fight simply return and the door will be opened ?allowing you to fight again.

The Lost Shipment quest Rewards

After defeating the enemies, your fellow guard will show up and tell you to take a set from the crate in the center of the Thieves' Den as a reward, so make sure you do so. For completing?? the Lost Shipment quest you will receive the following rewards:

  • Rare Carthian Plumbatae
  • 15,600 Fisherman XP
  • 17,200 Guard XP

Developer Fen Researcher's CEO, best known for his work on the original RuneScape, Andrew Gower, has confirmed that while the company's next game, Brighter Shores, will have PvP, it won't be availa??ble at launch.? When it does arrive, it'll be optional and unique.

In a post on Twitter, Gower explained how Brighter Shores will be labeled as early access until PvP is added later down the line but didn't giv?e a timeline for how long that would take. He says this is because he wants the game to launch when the team originally planned to get it out to fans, Q3 2024, and doesn't want them to have to wait any longer. He added that he has what he believes to be an interesting vision for what the game's optional PvP could be.

To PvP or not to PvP

While Andrew Gower says PvP probably won't be available in Brighter Shores at laun??ch, it's still an incredibly important feature that the team is striving to perfect and implement as soon as possible. I think it makes a ?lot of sense to introduce it after launch because the game boasts a "huge number of professions to try," which would be overwhelming to someone like me if there was also an entire PvP side of the game to contend with.

//twitter.com/AndrewCGower/status/1825649640487682273

The majority of your time in Brighter Shores will be spent engaging with each job and filling a role in the game's world. For example, you might enjoy adventurin??g and gathering treasure or resources from various biomes, while someone else could really enjoy mining, smithing, and ultimately selling weapons and armor. How you spend your time is up to you.

Fitting PvP into a world like this will be tricky, but it's been done before. There could be optional PvP worlds or PvP arenas, but w?e won't know exactly what Gower has planned until we get more information or an update from him directly.

The key takeaway from what Gower has shared should be that PvP will be yet another layer of content in Brighter Shores. Once you're used to the basics that this admittedly quite large-sounding world has to offer, then PvP will come along to change how you perceive each ??session.

PvP in games like RuneScape and even Destiny 2 require skill, but there's always an element of min/maxing stats with the best armor and weapons. If Brighter Shores'? PvP is similar, then it could require you to shift your focus to mining and smithing for better gear so you can win more battles than you lose.
