Paramount Pictures and Xbox are teaming up to give you a chance to get your hands on exactly what you've been looking for: a pizza-scented Xbox controller. The cheesy (hehe) event is to celebrate the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie that releases on August 2.

??The Xbox Wireless Controllers come with a built-in scent diffuser shaped like a pizza slice. There's a controller variation for each of the Turtle brothers: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michaelangelo. The announcement provided no details on the type of pizza we can smell from the controller. I mean, what exactly are we talking about here? Just cheese? Pepperoni? An aromatic supreme pie? Just say it isn't pineapple.

Those who need help getting hungry for a pizza while they game can enter to win one of the controllers pretty easily. Cowabunga, dude!

The controllers themselves have pretty cool TMNT-themed skins, but the "pizza diffuser" looks a bit off. It kind of looks like one of those plastic doggy squeak toys. This is obviously very gimmicky but I guess it could be cool getting a whiff of pizza-y goodness while playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.

Also part of the event is a new TMNT DLC for Minecraft. T?he turtles-themed DLC all??ows you to play as any of the four turtles and explore iconic locations such as the Turtle Lair and fight baddies like Krang.

If y?ou're not confident you will win one of these ??limited controllers, there's still a chance to smell the 'za. Gamers in the NYC area can head over to the Xbox Gaming Lounge at the Microsoft Experience Center on Fifth Avenue and sniff the controllers from 4-7 p.m. EST on August 2.

Is Lilith up to no good?

It took a bit longer than I expected, but the Diablo 4 hardcore contest has come to an end. Blizzard revealed on Twitter that 1000 qualifying players have hit level 100 on hardcore mode and will have their names carved into history. Unfortunately, the contest has been plagued by? dram?a before it even began, and then some. Shortly after revealing the list of ??1000 winners, the tweet became flooded by players claiming they should be on the list but aren't.

Although simple at a glance, the rules were also very specific. Upon hitting level 100 in hardcore mode, you had to send a public tweet to the Diablo Twitter account including three specific things: the #Diablo4Hardcore hashtag, your full Battle.net BattleTag, and a picture or video that proved you have reached character?? level 100 on hardcore mode and earned the "Tempered Champion" title for doing so.

I've looked through a lot of the replies, and unfortunately, some of the entries I checked didn't appear to follow the contest rules.? Some tweets didn't include the correct hashtag, their BattleTag, or even a proper screenshot. It's definitely a bummer ??if you technically win but fail to qualify due to a typo in the confirmation tweet. But let's ask the real question here. Why was the contest handled this way?

The contest was very archaic

It's 2023. We're talking about a contest that takes most players at least 100 hours to complete. The road to hitting level 100 in Diablo 4 is not easy, especially if you're playing hardcore mode. I understa??nd wanting to generate more buzz across soci??al media, but the results themselves should not have been validated this way.

I understand that Diablo 4 doesn't have leaderboards yet. Perhaps the contest should have waited until it does. But, even without leaderboards, I'm sure there is a better way to confirm who actually hit level 100 rather than via a screenshot with the proper hashtag. Sev??eral websites even tracked the progress of hardcore characters, so surely Blizzard could h??ave done this th??emselves?

At the end of the day, the results look accurate bas??ed on the rules put in place. But did it have to be this way? I think not. Here's to hoping the next contest has easy-to-implement systems in place to help prevent human error.

I've never played this one but I watched the trailer, and there's a lot going on! Life is all about change. I recently moved to Denver to get a nice change of pace in life, but now have found myself back in Phoenix among the cacti and sand. I was in a snowy hot tub three weeks ago, and now I'm looking at 96 degrees this Saturday. 96 degrees in March! Why?! I miss the?? ice forming in my hair as I enjoy the single-digit temperature around me while Tears for Fears lulls me into ultimate Good Vibes mode. Pic included for posterity's sake.

Well I'm back in the desert now, which just goes to show that life is full of changes. Feelin' the pangs for some more Lo Wang

Since returning to Earth after traveling the voids of space for the Kidney Stone, the secret eighth Infinity Stone, and rescuing the world from very painful urination, I've settled back into giving away games. Sure, I could have kept my lifestyle as a playboy Space Pirate, traipsing from galaxy to g??alaxy with my whimsical misadventures and wanton promiscuity �but then who would give you guys free stuff? I didn't exactly have a choice in the whole thing.

Well, in my travels I met a shaman who gave me keys for Shadow Warrior 3. I'm not sure what a space mage was doing with video games from Earth, or how he knew my exact pants size ??(even the length!), but either way, I can't use 'em so I figured you guys would like them.

Did you watch th??e video above? There was a giant demon chicken thing and I'm a little confused. Not because they're super uncommon or anything, but because the magic lady had some Rita Repulsa hair going on there. Weird!

Suffice to say Lo Wang did it again, people. This time he unleashed an ancient dragon and now must stuff it back into the to-go box from whence it came. It's not a?s easy as folding down the sides and sitting on top of it until it squishes down enough to close the latch, mind. Something about a dead god's mask, a dragon egg, and maybe an old Kenny G vinyl. They don't have boxes for these anymore so it's hard for me to cheat off the back of it, but I'm pretty sure all of those are right. If I could turn back time

What's the big deal with Sifu? Like, every time ??I wake up I'm older. So, what, now you build a game around that mechanic? I've been doing it for 35 years, people; get with the program!

Well I guess it's differ?ent when you're a kung fu master. Also different when you die you come back to life, but exponentially older. And since, you know, no one has made any games about Wes Tacos.

Not yet, anyway.

Where was I? Oh yeah, my super ultra best friends over at Tinsley (get your peeps to get working on that Wes Tacos game, Tinsley crew) hooked me up with some Sifu keys to give away!

Read our official review here, but suffice it to say if you like a challenge, this one's for you! Sifu is a story of vengeance. A bunch of young punk martial artists up and killed your fam. Now, it's up to you to hunt them down, taking out any and all minions along the w??ay. Learn new moves, acquire? new techniques, and most of all, don't die! Each life ages your character, taking him from an angsty teen to a tired septuagenarian with the experience to fight, but the body to fail. Balance your life lest you age out of fulfilling your mission.

But there's good new??s! Like any difficult game, the a-ha! moments come when you master the game's mechanics and improve as a player, as opposed to ethereal skill points determining your fate. I'm terrible at video games so I've never personally experienced such an epiphany, but I'm guessing if you're here you're much better at this sort of thing than I am. Pretend in the gif below that video games are the badass bearded dude, and I'm the little weenie flying off the edge. It's pretty bad.

What's the hungriest you've ever been? If it came down to it, would you eat trash? The family pet? Your cousin Pat? These are the questions posed by multiplayer survival game Dread Hunger. As I don't know how to cook I'd probably be screwed e?ither way, but now you can experience for yourself just how far you'd go to survive!

Well, this is a new one to me! Dread Hunger is an eight-person survival game with a twist -- two players are traitors, sent to kill the others using any means necessary. Like sabotage o??r magicks or outright murder. Then, I guess you can eat them! Ya gotta survive, right? ??That's kinda the point of the game.

• Survive the Arctic
  Build fires to stay warm, fend off wolves and other predators, and hunt for food to stay alive in the brutal and unforgiving Canadian Arctic.

The release of Dying Light 2 Stay Human is creeping ever closer as we approach the new year. Many of us are still wondering if it will be able to live up to the original, but Destructoid’s very own Eric Van Allen see??med to have a positive experience during ??his hands-on preview with the game. It sounds like things are shaping up nicely.

I’ve recently been accosted with a somewhat more disturbing question regarding the franchise. Have you ever wondered what the world of Dying Light smells like? I can’t imagine it’s super pleasant. There are rotting corpses everywhere, some of them even running towards you, and many of the characters I met in the first game looked like they hadn’t bathed in? months. However, two?? of our lucky readers will get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to find out themselves!

So, what exactly is a Dying Light 2 "Scents of t??he City" kit? That’s a great question! I’m still not entirely sure myself. It’s a box containing a bunch of bottles with, presumably smelly, liquid inside. One of them has the word “blood�on it, so I don’t even know if this is totally legal. Can you just ship bottles of blood? I guess this could end up as a learning e?xperience for all of us.

There are seven more liquid-filled bottles within, as well as a beaker, four empty long glass tubes, and a couple of plastic droppers. The box also contains four recipes to concoct different fragrances. Whatever our lucky w?inners do with it, I feel like I’m legally obligated to say, please, don’t drink the smelly liquids in the somewhat sketchy-looking cardboard box that you get in the mail from internet strangers. Don’t do it. It might be really funny for a few minutes, but it’s almost certainly a terrible idea. Also, maybe wear gloves and safety goggles while handling it. Or don’t. I’m not your dad.

SkateBIRD’s name pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the core concept. You’re a bird, and you skateboard! Apparently, there’s a little bit more going on as well, but you can read about all that in Zoey’s review.

Even if it isn’t perfect, there’s something about the game that still draws me to it. By “something,�of course, I am most definitely referring to both being a bird and being able to? skateboard. These are two things I have never been able to do very well in real life.

When I was 12, I bought a skateboard because all of my friends were doing it. I practiced almost every single day for a?bout six months, and the only trick I managed to learn was how to ollie. The skateboard only went a few inches above the ground, but still, I could do it. I was proud. After achieving such glory, there was only one possible next step: I quit because skateboarding was hard, and riding a bike was faster.

In today’s contest, you can win a copy of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus for PS4, Switch, Steam, or Xbox!

The original release of Doki Doki Literature Club was, to put it lightly, a pretty da??ng intense experience. Despite its cutesy cover art and adorable trailer filled with lighthearted music, it came bearing the warning words “this game is ?not suitable for children or those who are easily disturbed,�and I’d say that might be a bit of an understatement.

That version is still available for free on Steam if you want to go in completely blind and aren’t 100% sold on it just yet. However, an updated premium version just released this week called Doki Doki Literature Club Plus, and it features new side stories, music, and a visual upgrade to 1080p. I haven’t checked it out yet myself, so I can’t vouch for how much the update adds to the experience, but if it’s anything like the original, it’s defini?tely worth playing if you have the stomach for it. Luckily, we’ve also gotten our hands on some keys to give away to the community!

In today’s contest, you can win a copy of Save me Mr Tako: Definitive Edition for Switch or Steam!

Back when it originally launched, Save me Mr Tako was a really cool game that paid homage to the Game Boy. It looked and played the part well, but it was held back from being an easy recommendation by a handful of small annoyances. If you’re curious about my full thoughts on it at the time, you can read them here in my review.

The point is that the game had some issues at launch, and Christophe Galati, the creator, wanted to address them at the time with updates. Unfortunately, the game’s publisher, Nicalis wasn’t willing to pay for it, so it seemed unlikely to happen. Over two years later, however, Galati managed to part ways with the publisher and rereleased it with the intended updates last month as Save me Mr Tako: Definitive Edition.

Based on the implemented changes detailed over on Galati’s Patreon page, it seems like the majority of the issues I had have now been addressed. The camera behavior, game physics, and level design have all been tweaked to answer complaints from fans. Three d??ifficulty modes h?ave also been added, which can be switched between mid-game. One of them is even a “Classic�mode, where you can play it in its original form. If you want that old school challenge, it’s still there. However, the other two modes sound much more forgiving for folks just looking to have a chill time.

The big caveat to all of this is that owners of the original game didn’t receive the Definitive Edition as a free upgrade to their existing copy. Due to the publisher change and delisting of the original title, that just wasn’t possible. It’s unfortunate but understandable. Luckily for you, we’ve received a few copies of the Definitive Edition to give out to you dorks!

Here’s a brief summary of what Tako is all about for the uninitiated:

In a world where humans and octopuses are at war, Tako is a pacifist little octopus who rescues a woman from drowning one stormy night. A fairy sees this act of bravery and grants him the ability to survive on land. As he travels across the world, Tako defies his family and his people to try to resolve ??conflicts between humans and octopuses, plunging him into the very roots of this dysfunctional world.

Tako will solve puzzles, turn enemies into platforms by spitting ink at them, explore mysterious dungeons and fight tenacious bosses on his mission to end the war between the undersea Octopus kingdom and the terrestrial Human realm. Will you help this bra?ve octopus to spread his message of tolerance and teach both species to coexist in peace and unity?

I remember walking through the video game section at Toys"R"Us as a kid, and they had this huge wall full of games. The thing was that they didn't have fancy demos or anything. I couldn't actually try them out first, so it was all just sort of guess work. I had to make my choice based on a picture of the cover art and a brief description that may or may not be accurate. Once I finally picked one, I had to grab a paper ticket, proceed to the register, and pray I had made the right decision. Needless to say, they were not all winners, but a lot of that cover art ??was still pretty dang wonderful.

Mighty Goose

Geese are pretty much ?the entitled assholes of the avian order. They're mean, they're aggressive, they're numerous, and they make that awful noise. They're really a nuisance. But hey, we've gotten some ?good video games from them as of late! Well, here's another.

Waddle, run, and gun through nine destructive levels clearing out high fidelity pixel art enemy bases so intergalactic nature can finally heal. Customize an honorable goose with a gaggle of gun arm upgrades and alternate ammo options to reunite the Mighty Goose squad. Rescue animal companions like Regular Duck to aid in combat with different? and strategy-changing abilities like the Sprint Boots and Chonker Bombs.

The leader of team Mighty Goose is Mighty Goose, but his friends refer to him as Goose. As a professional avian space stalker, rivals are always bound to rear their ugly beaks, like fellow fowl Raven. The villainous Void King sends Raven and his army to imprison Goose’s animal friends in Void bases and take out the belligere??ntly blaring bounty hunter for good.

Seriously, geese are on a real hot streak as ?of late.
