Toby Fox, the creator of hit indie titles like Undertale and Deltarune, just surprised his fans with a sudden announcement about the current development of Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune on his personal Twitter/X account.

//twitter.com/tobyfox/status/1851836949847281963

After sharing an illustration of Kris, Susie and Ralsei in Halloween costumes (Drawn by his colleague and the main artist for both games, Temmie Chang), Toby Fox updated his followers on the progress of the next two chapters of Deltarune. He said that he's eager to s?how people what he? and his team made since 6 years ago, and confirmed that chapters 3 and 4 will "100% come out in 2025".

Curiously enough, he also explained that the specific time in which he will release these chapters will rely on localization and console porting, which is no surprise, considering that Chapters 1 and 2 of Deltarune are also available for free on Pla?yStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and that his team even localized them in other languages, like Japanese.

Will Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 be free? Or paid content?

Needless to say, fans are ecstatic about this sudden announcement, seeing as Deltarune Chapter 2 came out in 2021, more than 3 years ago. In case you forgot, Toby Fox released Chapter 1 of this new project out of nowhere in 2019. While he claims that the world of Deltarune is seemingly unrelated to Undertale, this game still managed to grab people's attention for similar reasons, like its memorable characters, its intriguing lore and its?? unique gameplay.

The first two chapters of Deltarune are 100% free, which fans all around the world certainly appreciated, but Toby Fox still hasn't confirmed whether Chapters 3 and 4 will also be free or not. Curiously enough, in the past, he has claimed that he wants to release Chapters 3, 4 and 5 as a sing??le paid title. Regardless of what he ends up going for, these are ??such fun and unique games that he definitely deserves the monetary support from fans, especially after giving away the first two chapte?rs for free.

Fun that doesn't break the bank

For some, the Nintendo Switch can be an expensive investment. Once you've purchased the console itself, there are additional Joy-Con controllers, the Nintendo Switch Online membership, and, of course, first-party titles like Super Mario Odyssey?? that almost never seem to go on sale, even years after their r??elease.

Thankfully, there are some a??wesome games on this system that cost absolutely nothing to play and are most certainly worth your time and attention. Here are? the 10 best free-to-play games on Nintendo Switch you can enjoy right now.

Asphalt Legends Unite

Asphalt 9: Legends is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop

Those missing the Burnout series may want to check out Asphalt Legends Unite by Gameloft. The intense speed, the outrag??eous tricks, and the decent graphics all go a long way in this racing experience. Performing tricks to increase your boost meter is satisfying, and being? able to ram opponents into the walls is even more so. If you can ignore the micro-transaction-heavy side of Asphalt Legends Unite, you’ll find an underrate?d gem of a racing title for free.

Deltarune

Toby Fox’s follow-up from the Undertale series Deltarune is entirely free-to-play with no microtransactions in sight. The story is suitably entertaining, while Toby Fox maintains the much-loved, oddly-natured lore of the Undertale world and characters. As you’d expect from the series, there is some stellar battle music and a unique pixel art style. If you’re a fan of Undertale, this is a must-play.

Fall Guys

Fall Guys is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Epic Games

One of the most adorable free-to-play games you can play on the Nintendo Switch is Fall Guys. Against 59 other players, you’re competing to get the crown at the end of several mini-games. You’re going through tough obstacle courses with the silly physics of the game, scoring goals by heading a ball into the net or trying to outlast other players from disappearing platforms. It’s a lot of fun.? I’ve only ever been able to get a crown once, but when I finally got it, I felt like a million Show-Bucks.

There are cosmetic items you may want to buy in Fall Guys, but the good thing is that they don’t affect the sta?ts of any player.  This isn’t pay-to-win. Something to keep in mind is that developer Mediatonic organizes free events, giving you costumes for finis?hing tasks.

Fortnite

Some hate it, and others love it, but no matter where you stand you can’t deny that Fortnite is a smash success. Epic Games brings out compelling maps and guns that keep its fanbase entertained. The battle pass every season provides a lot of value, and the quests the developer provides are entertaining enough to keep you invested in the chaos of the game. I personally disliked the building elements of the original concept, but there is now a popular Zero Build mode that has consumed my gaming schedule.

F-Zero 99

F-Zero 99 is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Destructoid

F-Zero 99 brings the chaos of the o??riginal SNES? game and puts you in a race against 98 other players. Similar to Tetris 99, you’ll need to survive as they bash into you and in some cases, self-destruct around you on purpose. The controls are stellar as you drift around each corner and spin to dish damage to your foes. It’s a phenomenal take on the classic game. You’ll ??need Nintendo Switch Online to play this free game, however.

Brawlhalla

If you’re getting tired of playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after all these years, you might want to try Brawlhalla for free. It has a charming comic-like art style and a simple yet engaging battle system that has you constantly switching between two combat styles. The game’s cross-play, so?? you can check it out with all your pals on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even mobile.

There are also pop culture icons who’ll never join Smash, like the WW??E’s John Cena and SpongeBob SquarePants fighting each other. They’re available as skins via paid DLC.

Pokémon Unite

Pokémon Unite is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Tencent

Pokémon Unite is an absolute delight. It takes the MOBA mechanics of a game like League of Legends and places it into a thrilling 3v3 battle arena. T??he action is frenetic as you master each Pokemon's specific moves and work together to defeat the enemy team. The graphics are quite delightful, despite the game being available on both mobile and the Nintendo Switch. Like the previous entry on this list, there is also crossplay between those two platforms.

Something to keep in mind is that there are multiple microtransaction??s in the game. There are cosmetics such as costumes for your Pokémon and trainer, a battle pass, and other purchases that your ?wallet should be scared of. You can earn in-game rewards, however, through the free battle pass and performing well in Ranked.

Rocket League

Image via Epic Games

Rocket League is a simple concept that works so well on the Switch. You drive RC cars on a football/soccer pitch, flipping and turbo-boosting in order to score goals. If you need help as a beginner, on the other hand, you can enlist your friends from all platforms and still have fun on the field, There are car skins, antennas, rocket trails, and more to unlock through paid content, but some rewards are given to you periodically as you p??lay.

Smite

Smite is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Hi-Rez Studios

With over 100 gods to choose from and a console-friendly third-person perspective, Smite is one of the best MOBAs out there. There are beginner-friendly modes like Arena and Joust (3v3) to get you started and accustomed to learning your favor??ite characters. Then there's the Conquest mode with an expansive map and 5v5 combat. Each move adds a strategic element to the battle; for example, Cupid's Heart Bomb is a ranged attack that slows enemies on impact, while Hades can pull in his foes towards him with Pillar of Agony. Like most other free-to-play games, there are real money cosmetics to purchase.

Tetris 99

Tetris 99 is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop

One of the best free games on Nintendo Switch, Tetris 99 is engrossing as you survive to be the very last player standing. You have to keep up with the ever-increasing tempo of the gameplay and finish lines to send them to an opposing player. The action gets pretty intense at times, but is always worth it thanks to the compelling and rewarding gameplay. Thankfully, there are no microtransactions in Tetris 99, and you unlock??? new skins for your playfield by finishing in-game tasks.

Tetris 99 comes free with your Nintendo Swit?ch Online subscription.

Palia

Palia is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Singularity6

The world of Palia is expansive, and it’s completely free to dive in and explore. As with many cozy games, there are a selection of NPCs who can be befriended or even romanced, and they all have a seemingly endless number of quests for you to complete. Palia also benefits from almost monthly updates, which add new side content, items, and activities to take p??art in.

The only thing that will cost you anything in Palia is premium store outfits, tool skins, or glider skins. But choosing not?? to hand over your cash has zero effect on your game?play, so it’s easy to ignore if you don’t want to spend anything.

Disney Speedstorm

Disney Speedstorm is like Mario Kart if it was free, and all of the drivers were beloved Disney characters with cars themed around them. You can drift, charge up your Nitro Boost and even knock other racers off the road by side swiping them. Again, presumably heavily inspired by Mario Kart, racers can also pick up sprites along the track to give them power ups, which can the??n be used to gain a??n advantage in the race.

Sky: Children of the Light

Sky: Children of the Light is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop

Sky: Children of the Light is a social game in which you can meet and befriend other players. In Sky, your only task is to explore the seven realms, unlocking new cosmetics and inc?reasing the level of your Cape. This Cape is your means of transportation, as it allows you to fly through the skies of the realms, taking yo?u further into the wilds. You can chat and send gifts to friends, play musical instruments, and a whole lot more.

My Hero Ultra Rumble

My Hero Ultra Rumble is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop

Ultra Rumble is a MOBA fit for any fan of the Anime or Manga, and sees you grouped into parties of three in order to take out the rest of the 24 players in a match. The map you play on shrinks over time, leaving just two teams of three battling it out against each other. There is a Gacha element to Ultra Rumble, but don’t let th?at put you off. You have six characters unlocked by default, so you’v??e got plenty to work with right off the bat.

Pokémon Café ReMix

Image via The Pokémon Company

If any of the games on this list are perfect for simply relaxing and zoning out, it’s Pokémon Café ReMix. Using the touchscreen capabilities of your switch, you need to swipe at a pool of Pokémon faces in order to fulfil the orders of other Pokémon, who will then eventually come and work for you and unlock new recipes. It’s weirdly add?ictive, and also adorable on top, so definitely worth it g??iven the lack of payment needed.

Guardian Tales

If you want a dungeon crawling game with cute graphics, then Guardian Tales is very much recommended. Originally released on iOS and Android back in 2020, and then coming to Nintendo ?Switch in 2022, you need to use all the tactics at your disposal to lure enemies into the open so you can complete each area. It can get a little frustrating at times??, but it’s immensely satisfying and you can join guilds with other players, allowing you to take on even bigger and stronger enemies.

Angry Bunnies: Colossal Carrot Crusade

Angry Bunnies: Colossal Carrot Crusade is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Cypronia

If you’ve ever played Angry Birds, then you’ll have a good idea what to expect from Angry Bunnies. It’s the same concept with some slight twists you fire bunnies out of a hop-powered cannon to try and take dow??n structures at the other end of the playing arena, which have been constructed by wildlife critters. I stumbled across this by accident, and then quickly racked up more hours playin??g than I’d care to admit.

Tricky Doors

Tricky Doors is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Five-BN

Tricky Doors is a puzzle-game-meets-escape-room experience that will really make you think outside the box, but it’s not too difficult that ?it becomes ultimately frustrating. There are a long list of mini-games and small quests to complete, and the different rooms in which you find yourself trapped are absolutely jam-packed with detail,? so you’re unlikely to ever find yourself becoming bored.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades

The Elder Scrolls: Blades is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Bethesda

Compared to the Elder Scrolls titles that you may be more familiar with, Blades is ?much more linear and you’re essentially forced into one-on-one combat situations in order to progress. However, that doesn’t detract from the fun experience that this game offers. There are three modes: Abyss, which is an endless dungeon to test yourself against, Arena, which is player versus player multiplayer, and Town, which is a town for you to rebuild a??nd upgrade.

Hamster Playground

Hamster Playground is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via We Dig Games

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a hamster whose sole purpose in life is to navigate various mazes and competing with other hamsters? No? Just me? Well if you haven’t wondered, then perhaps you should, because Hamster Playground is just that. Not only? are you playing as a hamster, but you can also dress up your hamster in a huge variety of costumes. It’s adorable and incredibly fun, as long as you don’t take it too seriously.

Undertale and Deltarune developer Toby Fox has posted an update on the highly anticipated Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. He says the Chapters are develop??mentally complete and are in the process of being localized for every regio??n in which they'll be released.

In Fox's last update on Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4, he explained how the game would go on sale once Deltarune Chapter 4 was complete. While the blog post he's shared explains how all of his work on developing both of these Chapters is done, they're not finished and ready to go on sale just yet. He anticipates that Deltarune Chapter 3 will be ready for proper testing by mid-October and that he'll know more about where Deltarune Chapter 4 sits in the next update blog he posts.

Not quite ready for your eyes

According to Fox, the content for Deltarune Chapter 3 was completed a while ago. At the time of writing, 8-4, a Japanese localization company, is working on the game's translation. Its job is to ensure that every line is displayed correctly in J?apanese. Then, in mid-October, the plan is to begin testing the game on PC to work out if everything is ready to go for a full release or if more work is required.

Deltarune Chapter 4 is much further behind, but its development also came after Chapter 3, so it's to be expected. The content for both Chapters 3 and 4 was completed on September 1, 2024, which was an internal goal Fox and others in the team had set. Chapter 4 may need a few big fixes here and there, but the bulk of the work needed is the Japanese localization. This will happen as soon as Chapter 3 is fit for ??player?s, and a preliminary run-through is already underway.

To date, Fox explains that six people have played through Deltarune Chapter 4, and everyone's enjoyed it. That's all well and good, and the previous titles, Undertale included, really speak for themselves. But it would still be best to reserve judgment on how good each Chapter is until you've play?ed them for you?rself.

The final development detail from this blog post, which also includes a huge list of merch you can buy to celebrate Undertale's 9th anniversary, is a tidbit on Deltarune Chapter 5. Don't get too excited. While yes, this Chapter is now being worked on, it's the project that those who have completed work everywhere else are moved o??nto. It's a great start, but we won't be seeing that fifth Chapter very soon at all.

Deltarune, the successor to the glorious Undertale, caused quite a splash when its first chapter came out of the blue and free of charge back in 2018. Deltarune Chapter 2 kept the hype train moving when it came out in 2021, but we've since been waiting for Chapter 3. Here's what we know and what we think we know about the upcoming adventure in the Undertale-verse.

Deltarune Chapter 3 Development update

Back in February 2024, Toby Fox released a newsletter to inform fans that his team is working on chapters 3, 4, and 5 all at once. In it, Fox explained that the upcoming chapters will feature a great??er level of complexity and that he's now working with more people to get the game done. That's likely why the development is taking more time, but Fox also assured fans that everything is now in place for development to get much faster. The update also said that the team is mostly working on chapter 4, as the third chapter only needs to conclude the Japanese localization and some bugtesting to be ready for release.

Deltarune Chapter 3 price

We know the upcoming chapters won't be free, but there's still no information on pricing regarding any of the upcoming episodes and the whole Deltarune package. If the original price point of Undertale is anything to go by, you shouldn't expect any of the upcoming episodes to cost you mo??re than $15 each.

We still don't know when Deltarune Chapter 3 will come out, but with what we know from Fox, that could be any moment now. Even if he announces a release date, he likely won't give more than a week's worth of a heads up. If you want to get up to speed with the previous chapters before Deltarune Chapter 3 hits like a meteor, you can get both for free on the Switch eShop or Steam.

Ready to return to the Dark Worlds? According to a press release, Deltarune Chapter 3 is close to completion and a change in release is incoming. Deltarune will go on sale once its fourth chapter is finished, rather tha??n waiting for th??e fifth.

Earlier today, Toby Fox celebrated the fifth anniversary of Deltarune's original release. He also provided an update on the highly anticipated third chapter of Deltarune. The newest chapter is playable from start to finish, but not ready to? be released. "Obviously, releasing a game takes many more steps than just finishing the gameplay and graphics," states ??Fox.

However, he mentions that work has started on the fourth chapter, which his team is very excited to continue. "When we started Chapter 3, to be honest, it took a lot of trial and error to figure out how it would work," says Fox. "But, with Chapter 4, I already feel very confident ab??out how we can progress."

Shifting release plans

Originally, Deltarune, a spiritual successor to Fox's Undertale, was going to get a full release after Chapter 5. Now, the game will be available to purchase after Chapter 4's release. Speaking on the subject, Fox brings up "My original plan was to release Chapter 3, 4, and 5 together. However, the finish line of Chapter 5 is still pretty far off... and I don't think anybody really wants to wait that long to release a??????????????????????????nything. Especially me."

In anticipation of Chapter 4, the Deltarune team has added a new producer to help speed up the process. As Chapter 2 released in 2021, the news of quicker releases for future chapters will make many hearts skip a beat. Speaking of Chapter 2, Fox shared an interview with the team that??? talks about the process of creating the game.

No release date or price was given for the full game, though the original Undertale (PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch) was $14.99. Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 are available for free on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

The Undertale creator shares some of his latest musical creations

The latest Pokémon game is out in the wild, and players have been exploring the new region of Paldea. As it so happens, some of the tunes playing while they roam around this Pokémon world were penned by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale.

Fox announced he'd be working on Scarlet and Violet's soundtrack before the game's release. Now, Fox has shared his exact contributions in a newsletter mailing list that he spun up for fans of Undertale and Deltarune. (Destructoid has received a copy of this because yes, I would like to receive news about Undertale and Deltarune.)

In it, the developer writes that he had the honor of making a few songs for the game. These include the tracks "Tera Raid Battles", the "Academy Ace Tournament", and "Battle! Zero Lab". (Beware of spoilers if you go dig?ging ??into that last one, by the way.)

Fox also composed "Area Zero", which was re-arranged by Pokémon composer Go Ichinose. Fox also apparently wrote a "majestic theme melody" for the song "Academy", which ended up used as a field theme for the?? game. All songs usin?g the melody were made by other composers.

Turn up the PokéTunes

I had a sneaking suspicion that certain tunes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, particularly the ones that play during the endgame section, had to include co??ntributions from Toby Fox. So it's nice to have those guesses ?validated.

This isn't the first time Fox has contributed to a Pokémon game, as Sword and Shield also had tunes from Fox in the soundtrack. But it's nice to see this collaboration continue, and especially see how it's helped shape the sonic direction of Pokémon.

As for Fox's personal projects, Deltarune is still in development. We heard earlier this year that there won't be another chapter in 2022, and Fox confirms as much in his newsletter. There's a lot of minutiae in the update, but it sounds like progress is proceeding apace for Deltarune??. Until then, we'll al??ways have Area Zero to hold us over.

No more Deltarune until 2023

As a veteran of internet culture and creative, interactive storytelling, Toby Fox has been revered for years now as the creator modern classic game Undertale, as well as his newest game Deltarune. The first two chapters of Deltarune were released back in October 2018 and February 2019 respectively, so it's been quite a while since fans have seen an update on the game. This week, however, Fox took to Twitter to provide a much-needed Deltarune update.

"We don't be able to put out any new chapters of DELTARUNE this year," Fox said. Well, at least he's straightforward. Then he teases "something special" coming up to celebrate the anniversary of Undertale and Deltarune Chapter 2, so there's something coming relatively soon.

We'll jus?t have to hold out a bit longer. For what it's worth, you can't really blame Fox for taking his time considering he's pretty much the only one who works on these games. Making a game at all is an impressive enough feat, let alone doing all the coding, art, music, and so on completely by yourself.

//twitter.com/tobyfox/status/1566962055470784519

In the meantime, though you can get your next fix of Undertale at an awesome pop-up ev?ent so long as you live in Southern California, anyway.

From September 15 through October 10, Requiem Café in Anaheim will be hosting an event in honor of Undertale's seventh ??anniversary, which includes special themed food and drink items like colorful macarons and milk tea, as well as exclusive merchandise like shirts, mugs, tote bags, and more. The café is not tak?ing any reservations for the event, but walk-ins are of course welcome.

If nothing else, a delicious peach tea with strawberry and spicy mango and some chocolate blood orange donuts will be enough to get me by. Make sure to check out the menu, because it all looks amazing.

Back for round two

DELTARUNE IS SO MUCH FUN! We burned through the first chapter last week and dabbled in the second, so tonight we're seeing where the last of the demo ends with another Deltarune stream.

More chapters will presumably be released with the full game and I absolutely can't wait. This game? legit?? makes me laugh so hard I cry, the characters are loveable and hilarious, the music is great, the art is super well done. It's just SO creative, I'm totally hooked.

I hadn't played Undertale all that much before, but chat's been telling me they're very similar games (duh) so if we finish up chapter two tonight I might dig into Undertale to see what that's all ab??out. So gla??d you guys recommended me this game! We've got some puzzle games we could crack open as well. See you tonight!

Drop by Destructoid’s Twitch channel every Friday starting at 9:00 p.m. Eastern to join us.

Miss last week’s stream? Catch the video-on-demand for Deltarune chapter one.

Everyone needs more Susie in their lives

Honestly, I would have thought that nobody wants any more drama in their lives right now, but, in case you wish for more, then you can bask in the glorious news that Toby Fox's emotional RPG Deltarune Chapter 1&2 is now available to download on both PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The new console ports follow the adventure's respective PC releases from October 2018 and September 2021.

To say too much about Deltarune is to spoil its carefully crafted world and characters, but needless to say that fans of Toby Fox's seminal 2015 classic Undertale will find themselves at home in this follow-up, which features new and familiar faces and locales from the emotional and personal fantasy adventure. Players can create a personalized avatar before diving into the 8-bit world of Deltarune, which is somehow both unnerving and charming at one and the sam?e time. Be sure to tell Susie I said "Hi"... But be cool about it... yeah?... actually forget I said anything... Tell her...

Deltarune Chapter 1&2 is available to download and play for free on Switch via Nintendo eShop and PS4 via PSN. Fox recently stated his intention to release the three remaining chapters as one drop at some point in the distant future. When this happens, Deltarune will launch as a full-priced purchase, essentially making the first two chapters an extremely generous demo. You can check out more details about Deltarune Chapter 2 in our own Eric van Allen's impression piece right here.

The cold never bothered me anyway

The second chapter of Deltarune dropped Friday, and over the weekend, a lot of people logged on to see what's next for the Undertale follow-up.

But it's possible that most folks who played through it missed the optional route it held, one fans are calling the "Snowgrave" route. It isn't just a little tough to find?, but it's got some big departures from the "usual" route.

The route was reportedly found by Discord user "Great Brandini," and the methodology of getting to it—and what transpires therein—has been archived in a Google Doc here. I'll say here and now, you should probably beat Deltarune Chapter 2 before checking this guide out. The odds are high that you won't stumble upon this naturally unless you're prone to backtracking, but even describing how to get there entails some mild spoilers. And it feels like an alternative route too; it's already being compared to the darker route of Undertale where the player kills? every monster, often referred to as the "Genocide" route.

Note: Deltarune Chapter 2 spoilers to follow. Don't read on if you want to stay unspoiled!

The Snowgrave route of Deltarune, as fans are dubbing it, can kick off once you've split off from the main group and met up with Noelle. This side character becomes a prominent part of Deltarune Chapter 2's story, but here in the Snowgrave route, we see what happens if we go down a darker path. Rather than killing every monster, y??ou can use Noelle's power to freeze them all, ma?king her more powerful in the process.

By using Noelle's ice powers to freeze everything, you start to radically shift the world, much like killing the monsters in Undertale did. As you keep winning and freezing everything in sight, everything comes to a head in the Berdly fight, which has a much different ending if you follow the guide. Once you see it through, you're locked into the Snowgrave route, and things only get darker from there. A new boss, new scenes, and some pretty dark implications of what's transpired—a?nd your role in it—make for a pretty different route to the finale.

I'll refrain from elaborating further, in case you want to experience it yourself. I haven't yet played the route myself, though I've skimmed some playthroughs and guides to verify it. And well, if you thought Deltarune has been a little too cheerful for the time bei?ng, th??e Snowgrave route might just be for you.

Deltarune and Undertale developer Toby Fox has confirmed that his team is working on at least three more chapters of Deltarune. And while these first two chapters are free, it will eventually be a paid product. I'm really curious to see how decisions like these might carry fo?rward into later chapters, or if I'll even want to carry an outcome like this forward. But another part of me is curious... so maybe I'??ll keep a Snowgrave clear file around, just to see where it goes from here.

Chapter 2 is available now on PC

Toby Fox, the brains behind beloved RPG Undertale and its follow-up, Deltarune, has announced his intention to develop three more chapters for the latter, following on from the successful PC launch of Deltarune Chapter 2 last week.

Speaking in a brand new blog post, Fox thanked his team of collaborators and revealed his plans to develop Deltarune chapters three, four, and five all for release on the same day. At that time, Fox will sell Deltarune's first five chapters for an undisclosed price though Fox noted that Deltarune will cost more than Undertale did at launch. ?Chapters 1 & 2 are currently free to download, with Fox deciding to give away the latter chapter gratis as "the worl??d has been really tough for everyone recently."

"Originally I had planned to release chapters only when all (of) them are finished, but honestly, it's hard both for creators and fans to go a long time without a release," says Fox in the blo??g post. "So, I changed my mind. I think most people will be happy about this[...] So, next time you want to ask "when's chapter 3", you can ask "when can I buy Chapter 3/4/5? I'll give you a lot of money... I won't know the answer until it's done, though."

While Deltarune chapters 1 & 2 can be downloaded for free, Fox notes that this is not usually the case for indie releases. "If you can afford it, spend the money ?you saved from getting this ga?me for free by supporting other indie devs," he suggests.
