Dragon Ball: DAIMA is the most recent anime series based off of the iconic manga by the late Akira Toriyama, and its recent premiere already took the world by storm. Naturally, Bandai Namco took this as an opportunity to add its characters to more than one Dragon Ball video game.

Firstly, there's the recently released 3D arena fighter, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO. Bandai Namco had already announced that Goku (Mini) is going to be added to the roster a few weeks ago, but now the company posted a new trailer regarding ??the contents of the second DLC in the game's Season Pass.

This will add two fighters from Dragon Ball DAIMA to the game: Vegeta (Mini) and Glorio, the new character who made his debut in the fi?rst episode of the show. Unfortunately, Bandai Namco didn't reveal any in-game footage or a release date for neither of them.

The Season Pass of Sparking! ZERO is shaping up to be really exciting, with this trailer reminding us that the Season Pass will not only add Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in its first DLC, but also that there is also going to be a third DLC, although Bandai Namco will announce which characters will be featu?red in it on a later date.

Dragon Ball: DAIMA is also appearing in two older DBZ games

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has been getting constant updates and DLCs since its original release back in 2020, and now it's time for Dragon: Ball DAIMA to make its appearance in this beloved action RPG. Bandai Namco announced the Adventure Through The Demon Realm DLC, which will partia??lly cover the events of the show.

What's especially interesting is that this is only Part 1, hinting that Bandai N?amco will release a Part 2 in the near future. It's most likely that the company split this campaign into 2 parts as to not spoil the entire plot of the new anime.

Lastly, Goku (Mini) will also arrive to Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 as a DLC character, alongsid??e a new set of equippable skills based off of him for the game's customizable avatar. There's also going to be a Free Trial available for those who may want to try him out, although Bandai Namco didn't confirm a concrete release date for neither the DLC or the Free Trial.

This was definitely the most shocking announcement of the bunch, seeing as Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 is an action RPG from 2016 that is getting updates and DLC packs to this day,? which is keeping the game and ?its community alive.

We are getting so much Dragon Ball content in 2024!

With the release of Sparking! ZERO and Dragon Ball: DAIMA, this is definitely a great moment to be a Dragon Ball fan. Furthermore, multiple simultaneous collaborations like these show how this franchise? can have perfect brand synergy.

It seems Shueisha, Toei Animation and Bandai Namco are aware that most Dragon Ball fans don't play just one game so, instead of prioritizing their most recent release, they decided to add new content to games that are relatively older. It wouldn't be a surprise if these companies already have plans to add DLC from later episodes of Dragon Ball: DAIMA to these games in the near future, as Toei Animation releases new episodes with new characters, new tra??nsformations and new battles.

Bandai Namco has announced that it will hold another Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour presentation in 2023 �The live stream event, which debuted in Fe??bruary this year, will take a look at the current and upcoming titles spawning from the legendary anim??e franchise.

While details on 2023's Battle Hour are currently slim on the ground, we can expect Bandai Namco to showcase Dragon Ball games such as Dragon Ball Super Card, Dragon Ball Legends, and Arc System Works' excellent tag-fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ. It is currently unknown whether any unannounce??d games or DLC will be revealed on the stream, but one can only assume that the publisher will be bringing new news to the table and not leave the fans walking away empty-handed.

More details on the eve??nt, including a date, will be announced on December 3. We will, of course, bring you all of the pertinent information right here on Destructoid.

Goku is still powering up in a galaxy far far away

Can you beat the sheer spiritual power of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC? I submit that you cannot! More is on the way, and a new Bandai Namco YouTube video shows us exactly what that entails.

It's none other than Goku (Ultra Instinct -Sign-), which is not a typo, nor is it a Guilty Gear sequel. It's simply a DLC character by way of the "Awakened Warrior Pack," and it's coming this summer in part because of the "Conton City Vote," where players selected Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC they wanted to be added in from a poll of five characters. Framing it as a "wish" from a dragon in-universe is low-key a really ??cool way to do this.

As a reminder, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 arrived in 2016, before the new console generation was even here. It eventually came to Switch a year later, and is still going strong on that platform, as well as PC, PS4, and Xbox One: the Switch isn't being left out of this DLC run either. It's a testament to how long Bandai Namco will stick with something that sells; a stark contrast to games that don't get that same love.

Speaking of Bandai Namco, that new logo is super jarring! I've gotten so accustomed to the stark contrast of orange and yellow with distinct lettering, and now it feels like I'm linking a bootl?eg ch??annel. I'll get used to it in turn, but it's way harder to spot at a glance.

In addition to a free update, "Legendary Pack 1" will launch as pa??id DLC on March 18. It'll feature Toppo and Pikkon, as well as a Janemba mascot.

The trailer below will give you a quick ov?erview of what's up, with a decent chunk of footage and story bits. The publisher notes that this pack will include a "new story," and will feature Trunks battling against Fu. There's even a little teaser at the end!

Toppo Trumps

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 isn't done adding new content and characters just yet. Publisher Bandai Nacmo has announced, (via Japanese magazine V-Jump), that the next DBZ star headed to the action-RPG's roster is the leader of the Pride Troopers himse??lf, Top?po!

Driven by a desire for justice and sworn to his duties as a guardian of pea??ce, Toppo, (or just "Top" for English dub fans), is one of the ultimate allies for the forces of good - loyal, respectful, and unyielding. There are no images of The Warrior of Justice in-game just yet, but mo?re information is expected in the very new future.

Toppo will not be coming along, as the same update will also see the arrival of the previously revealed Pikkon – all-powerful warrior from the Other World – who will be ready to wreck heads with his devastating marti??al arts abilities and range of Ki Blast attacks. Alongside Toppo and Pikkon, the new content drop will include character skins, Expert Missions, and Hero Colosseum figures. Update 12 is expected to launch this spring.

Pikkon is out in spring 2021

You can believe there are three games that are still being actively developed for in the Dragon Ball Z series? Such is the power of those balls.

In addition to FighterZ and Kakarot, Xenoverse 2 (which came out in 2016) is still getting DLC! At this point, the roster is insanely impressive and expansive, dating back to nearly every er??a of the show. You have your stock big ones like Trunks, Goku, and Gohan (all shapes and sizes!), but they also delve into minor ??or tertiary baddies like Zarbon and Lord Slug.

You can add Pikkon to that list now too! According to Weekly Jump in Japan, Pikkon is headed into the arena in spring of 2021. Yes, we're coming up on five years of active development for this project. It's good to be a Dragon Ball fan,?? as there's always something new to enjoy.

I still remember playing Dragon Ball Z: The Legend on the PlayStation for the first time and being blown away with just how many cast members it had; compared to the SNES fight?ers I had experienced before it. Sometimes there's something magical about stepping into the shoes of a character tha?t's relatively obscure, but you're big on.

Anime RPG Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gets a whole lot cooler today, as the launch of its "Ultra Pack 2" DLC brings two more characters into the fold - Maajub and Android 21 - the latter of whom won hearts with her debut performance in last year's Dragon Ball FighterZ.

A nefarious scientist for the Red Ribbon Army, ?Android 21 is a force to be reckoned with both behind a computer screen and on the battlefield. She is capable of devastating attacks and even turning her opposition into tasty treats. Yikes. You can see her in action in the trailer below, rocking her studious lab coat?? look.

Majuub is the f??usion of Majin Buu and Uub, a young fighter rocking both a mohawk and some devastating kicking techniques. Once a timid child, he Uub was taken under the wing of series protagonist Goku, transforming into a fearless warrior for good. Fusing with Majin Buu only add??s to his capabilities in battle. Like Android 21, Majuub has the ability to turn his opponents into candy.

Alongside the two new characters, Ultra Pack 2 includes five new Parallel Quests, eight Super Souls, new skill??s, and a selection of outfits and customisation acces?sories. It is available to purchase today on all formats.

Following on from her successful debut in Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball FighterZ, femme-fatale scientist Android 21 will be making her presence known in upcoming action-RPG Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

As reported in the latest issue of Japanese publication V-Jump, Android 21 will arrive as part of a paid DLC pack "this winter". The character was designed as one of the primary antagonists for Dragon Ball FighterZ (although her s??tory arc is a little more involved than first meets the eye), and quickly won over an army of fans with her great visual design, complex moveset and mischievous-but-deadly personality. Her penchant for turning her hated foes into sweet treats is also quite the party trick.

Bandai Namco will be bringing a "Lite" version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to the Nintendo Switch this summer. Similar to the same free-to-play version on Xbox One and PS4, this glorified demo will include five story missions, the "Hero Colosseum" mode, a cut-??down version of online battles, and the ability to transfer your save to the full version of the game. Lite users will also be able to play with owners of the full game, which could be very useful with the Switch's ad-hoc play.

According to Japanese magazine V-Jump, the Lite version will be a limited-time download on the eShop when it launches. I'm not sure what the reason for that is, but you'll need to download it before it goes away if you want to try out Xenoverse 2 on Switch.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that it will soon be releasing a free "lite" version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for PS4 and Xbox One. Releasing on March 20, players will get a taste of the full game with a bunch of compromises. This free version includes a sampler of the s?tory mode, online battles, the "Hero Colosseum" mode, and the ability to transfer save data to the full game.

The story is basically the prologue and intro from Dragon Ball Z, featuring the story? missions "Raditz's Attack," "The Saiyan Threat," "Ruckus on Planet Namek," "The Ginyu F??orce Strikes," and "The Galactic Emperor." That's basically the first few story arcs all available for free, which is neat enough.

The online mod??e will allow players of the lite version to participate against owners of the full game. I'm not sure what kind of limitations are present with regards to character selection or abilities, but you'll likely get stomped into oblivion if you go up against people with hundreds of hours on their saves.

Seeing as how fighters like Dissidia NT and Dead or ALive 6 recently launched free versions, it's no surprise that Bandai Namco is trying to jump? into that pool. This seems to be the new norm for fighting games moving forward, which is either a good or bad thing depending on how you view them. At least you can see if the game is to your liking without wasting your money.

By way of V-Jump we now know of a new mode coming to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which is amazingly still being updated two years later in the wake of FighterZ.

Titled "My Raid Mode," the gametype pits a raid boss against five players. The catch? The raid? boss is playable. Evidently it'll utilize an in-universe item called the "D?ark Demon Realm Crystal," and allow you to play as Mira, Fused Zamasu, or Demigra. There's an exclusive cosmetic in it for you if you play it.

The update is coming sometime this winter and will be part of a free update. Although platforms haven't been listed specifically it is expected to hit the existing PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch editions. It's neat how Dimps/Bandai Namco are able to work on this while Arc System Works handles FighterZ simultaneously: Dragon Ball is big enough to command that much labor!

Dragon Ball GT villain coming this Summer

As revealed by Namco Bandai in the new issue of Japanese publication V Jump, Super Baby 2 is headed to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 as a downloadable character soon.

Super Baby 2 appeared as part of the Dragon Ball GT arc as a villain driven to avenge his dying race, the Tuffles. Despite his immense power - taken?? from what little of his heritage remains - Baby, as the name suggests, is a childish antagonist thrown to wild temper tantrums and selfishness.

No specific date was given for Super Baby 2's debut, other than the vague release window of Summer. So no doubt we'll be seeing him wreak his personal brand of vengeance very soon in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, available now on PS4, Xbox One,?? PC and Nintendo Switch.

Goku's such a silver fox

Ultra Instinct is one of the better additions to the Dragon Ball canon introduced in Dragon Ball Super, as it's a form that allows Goku to basically dodge any attack and looks cool as heck. And now that form is coming to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in a way we didn't expect. 

Goku's "perfected" Ultra Instinct (complete with silver hair) has yet to be seen in the series proper, but now we have a good look at Goku's final form ever (since the series is ending). In Xenoverse 2, he has "Accelerated Battle Aura" which charges his ki and allows? him to perform another attack even if his rush attack misses. 

With Jiren coming as well, fans can re?live their favo??rite Tournament of Power moments. Unfortunately there are no pricing or release date details as of this writing.

A good week to be Dragon Ballin'

Hot off of yesterday's news that Nappa and Captain Ginyu are coming to next year's Dragon Ball FighterZ, it was also announced in Japanese publication V-Jump that Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is receiving its own roster boost.

Both Android 13 and Tapion are coming to the fighter as paid DLC characters. Tapion is the star of the 1995 movie Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon, whereas Android 13 is renown as the antagonist of 1992's Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13, where he punched Goku in the balls. Although no release date or price was announced, it?? is to be expected that ?these dudes will show up to collect skulls soon.

Also coming to Xenoverse 2 is the new "Hero Colosseum", a free update for all players that will update the game with new story concept and allow for figure-based battles.

Its portability is MAXIMUMER!

I have a confession to make. I've never played the Xenoverse games.

I wrote off the first entry due to the poor reviews it received at the time. When the second rolled around, I was distracted by the multitude of other g??ames that were coming out at the time and afterwards, and told myself I'd?? pick it up later. Flash forward to now, and I finally have my first taste of the series.

Unfortunately, the base game doesn't n?ecessarily click with me, and the exclusive features for the?? Nintendo Switch version aren't necessarily helping its case either.

So let's get the elephant in the room out of the way. I'm not a fan of how the combat plays out, and it feels like the only real diversity in the moveset is the interchangeable special moves. It's also a letdown to see the game retread the same arcs from Dragon Ball Z that most of the games do, while also not making the most of the 'what if' scenarios it presents. However, I know you're not here for my thoughts on the core game, you're here to find out about the Switch version. If you haven't played or read about Xenoverse 2 before, you can check out the review by our own Christian Chiok.

Performance wise, the game looks and runs fine, albeit at 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS. In comparison to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, it holds up well. When docked the game runs at 1080p, while in portable mode it downgrades the resolution to 720p. The only real downgrade from the other version is some minor environmental objects like grass being removed. Regardless, it still looks pretty good, and this could be attributed to the cell-shaded direction the game took. However, Xenoverse 2 does bump up the frame rate to 60 FPS if you are in a one-on-one figh??t such as versus.

There is one noticeable problem in regards to performance. Conton City, the main hub world, occasionally suffers fr??om slowdown. For whatever reason, it's not clear. It can occur at any point in the city, and it's inconsistent. Even the act of opening your main menu or the emote menu can potentially trigger the slowdown, that's how unpredictable it is. The slowdown doesn't render the hub city unplayable when it happens, however it is slow enough that it will annoy many.

Now let's?? talk about the exclusive new features for the game. It's possible for players to face each other using only a single Joy-Con controller. You would think this would lead to a convoluted control layout as a result, which it does to a degree, but it also somehow works. If a friend came over and asked to play a round, I genuinely wouldn't mind using this layout for a round or two. The game also has local multiplayer for multiple Switches, but because I did not know anyone locally with a copy I was not able to try this featur?e.

The same can't be said for the motion controls however. When enabled, they override the button commands for your specials, and require either one hand or two hands to pull off. To summarize it in a nutshell, they work as well as an early Wii game. It's either triggered with?? no effort, or it doesn't register at all. After 10 minutes of trying, I could not get the gestures for the iconic Kamehameha to be consistently recognized, that's how bad it was. Also, should you enable the motion controls, they cannot be turned off mid-mission, as I found out by going into a mission right after the tutorial for them.

Another major selling point for the Switch port was two exclusive free DLC packs in the form of the story and missions of the original Xenoverse, along with a character unlock. On paper the former sounds great, but in actuality it is poorly executed. The biggest thing that holds this back is that you do not get to do these missions whenever you want. In order to access any of them, you have to do the Xenoverse 2 equivalent. Want to play the missions involving the Buu arc from the original Xenoverse? Have to beat the Xenoverse 2 version of the Buu arc. If anything, this insane unlock method only helps expose how minimal the changes are to the missions between the two games at times. These missions are also done with your Xenoverse 2 character meaning no, you can't retcon in a different character to be the hero from the previous game, it has ?to be one of the generic defaults. This DLC takes up 2GB of spa??ce, and is only available until October 31.

The latter piece of DLC is actually extremely useful. By unlocking all characters early on, it makes the versus suite much more attractive, but also has another benefit. It means that if you go to do the offline parallel quests, you have end-game characters available to you. This potentially makes the early game a little easier, as being able to blast t??hrough the parallel quests thanks to characters like Broly and Cooler means more experience and abil??ities sooner rather than later. This DLC is only available until October 31 as well, although honestly I feel it should be permanently free to make the Switch version more attractive.

As for the rest of the DLC, it's not included in the base game and sold at the same price. This means $29.99 USD for the season pass like everyone else. However, when you remember that the other versions are regularly discounted due to being a year old, along with a complete version coming to PlayStation 4, it makes it hard to justify grabbing the Switch version ??over waiting for the other? versions to go on sale.

Overall, the port comes off as a mixed bag in the end. On one hand, with the exception of the slowdowns in Conton City, it's a very well put together port of Xenoverse 2 that happens to also be portable. I genuinely hope more ports are done as well as this one in terms of performance in the future. On the other hand, it's going for a higher price than the other versions are, it doesn't include any of the DLC packs, and the free DLC that gives it an advantage will no longer be available after this month. If you haven't played the game yet, it's definitely an option worth considering if the portability justifies the higher price to you, however it's hard to justify a double dip if you've played and beaten it before. Then again, having Broly, aka the best Dragon Ball character??, in portable form is a pretty great sellin??g point.

Poor timing

Launching for PlayStation 4 on November 22, 2017 in Japan, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Deluxe Edition brings all four "Super Packs," Goku Black, and a code to download a Future Trunks Arc PlayStation theme. It'll cost 6,100 yen?? which is about $53 but will likely be a full $59.99 when it comes west.

These DLC-included bundles as well as years of patches and updates are the main reason I don't play games until they're a year or more old anymore. This news comes just 11 days after the Switch version of Xenoverse 2 launched, ?where none of the DLC was included and the seas??on pass for the same content is being sold for $29.99.

If you held out and bought the Switch version, you're probably not too happy about this. Especially if you just bought the season pass too. The Switch version does include a Xenoverse 1 story mode since that first game never released on Switch? if you want to compare value.

It gets the job done despite camp

Unlike the Wii U, we could eventually live in a universe where we see games launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. Typing those former thr??ee has become muscle memory for me, as that's generally the agreed upon trifecta for the last five years or so, but the popularity (or Nintendo's push to make it popular) of the Switch has changed that.

This commercial for Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 on Switch is over-the-top and campy as hell, but it actually does a decent ??job at showing you what the game is about in a general sense and in re?gards to what the Switch port offers. ;

I think it's one of ??the most effective Switch commercials to date actually, as Namco Bandai spends an inordinate amount of time on each mode of play (TV, portable, local) in an easily digestible ??fashion. Is it cheesy? Sure, but it gets the job done.

It ain't easy

Given how obsessed the majority of us have been with Dragon Ball Z lately with the English airing of Super, the upcoming release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Switch, and Dragon Ball FighterZ looming on the horizon, this little bit of awesomeness slipped ri???ght passed us...for a few months. 

Although this has been floating around since May, it deserves far more attention. Found by Tristan Cooper on Twitter, mad geniuses CaliKingz01 and LeonExodio have modded Kermit the Frog into the PC version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. 

How does he look in action? Like a golden god according to this entertaining video from YouTube channel Dante's Gaming. Kermit the Frog should be i??n more fighting games, yeah? This is the best.

Switch the dragon

I didn't expect to enjoy Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 as much ??as I have, but even this long after its release I'm still playing DLC and have gotten my character to level 80. So the prospect of a portable one scares the hell out of me. 

This Japanese trailer for the Nintendo Switch port shows off what it's going to look like. It's essentially the same as long as you don't care about a lower resolution and frame rate drop. They're going to be adjustable to an extent, sure, but visuals mean a lot to some folks. Not to me! I'm gonna be too busy motion-controlling kamehamehas and smiling like a big idiot. And if the Western release includes the story ?campaign of the f??irst game like the Japanese one will, I'm for it.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 comes to Nintendo Switch September 22. It's going to be ?a good holdover until the big show.

If you had told me last year that 2017 would be a banner year for all manner of Dragon Ball-related news, I probably wouldn't have believed you. Not because the idea of more new Dragon Ball-related games arriving was so unbelievable, but more related to the notion that they could be headline news. But lo, here we are, and times are good (for Dragon Ball fans, at least). Dragon Ball FighterZ ended up being one of the best-??received games of E3.

Now Bandai Namco isn't about to leave Nintendo fans empty-handed, though, and they're bringing the thoroughly decent Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to a Switch near you and yours. The game, slated for a September 22nd launch, promises to be just like its original incarnations on the PS4 and Xbox one, except with some added, Switch-exclusive features. These include a 6-player mode for "grand Dragon Ball adventures", as well as optional motion controls for doing moves like the iconic Kamehameha and Spirit Bomb. As a new Switch owner (I've already lost one of my Joycon grips!), I'm intrigued by the 6-player mode, but I have to say the motion control bits may leave me cold, if they're anything like the motion controls present in Ultra Street Fighter II.

Fused Zamasu

In case you haven't heard, Dragon Ball Super is the new hotness that started airing in 2015. It continues after the Majin Buu arc and brings Goku and the gang into a whole new era of Super Saiyan levels, including God, Berserker, an??d Rage.

Super is heavily incorporated into Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which is still chugging after being releas??ed late last year. A new trailer showcases what's new for the fourth DLC "DB Super Pack 4," that just released today, including the new stage, storyli?ne, and the characters of Fused Zamasu and Vegito.

While it's possible that more DLC could be coming, all eyes are in FighterZ right now from Arc System Works.

Right after giving us a launch window for the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Bandai? Namco also unveiled the release date for the fourth (and possibly final) DLC pack -- June 27.

New costumes and characters are in (Fused Zamasu, Vegito Blue, Future Trunks), as well as the Goku Black storyline from Dragon Ball Super. Zamasu looks like the most flashy of the bunch, and even though the visuals can't hold a candle to FighterZ??, they still mos?tly capture the spirit of the show.

Xenoverse 2 will also get a free update "around the same time" as the DLC that adds in a few undisclosed features and fixes. I still need to get around to most of the add-ons as I watch the storylines in Super, but I might just wait ??on a GOTY editio??n and give up my base game.

900p docked and 60fps for single battles

We shared the news that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 would arrive on the Switch later in 2017 (almost a full year after the original launch), but now by way of the official site we have a more technical breakdown of?? what to expect from this port.

According to the site, the game will run at 60fps with singular battles, and 30fps with multi-fighter battles. As usual the docked and handheld resolutions differ, with a 720p limitation for handh??eld mode and 900p for docked.

This shouldn't make anyone mad as the most competitive element, 1v1 on a big screen is more than adequate, but it pales in comparison to the beautiful Arc System Works helmed Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 already came and went on multi??ple platforms last year, but Bandai Namco has revealed that the Switch version is now set for a firm September 7 release date in Japan. Wait, Switch version? Yeah, I forgot all about that one! Don't worry, it's confirmed for the west too and will likely drop around that same timeframe.

According to the V-Jump magazine reveal it'll have the Time Patrol campaign DLC packed-in, as well as a quick unlock for all 70-ish characters. It's a bummer that it's not all of the DLC though. Seeing as this is basically a GOTY edition a year later it really should have everything -- and there's been a lot of DLC so f?ar (four major packs, to start, one of which is?? still incoming according to PC datamining).

Phenomenal cosmic power, itty bitty living space

Although I would prefer another entry in the Budokai series, as that first trilogy played like a goofier Tekken, I'm glad as many people as possible are going to have access to one of the most fun Dragon Ball games in quite some time, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. 

A Nintendo Switch port of the title was recently confirmed for a Fall 2017 release in Japan, but now will also release in the West at that time as well. The port will feature motion controls (can't wait to Yamcha my way through that), ad-hoc play with up to six players, and two p??eople can fight on one system with a Joy-Con each. 

Also the newest DLC, DB Super Pack 4, releases in June for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and features some new missions as well as Fused Zamasu and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegito. I'm sure that string of letters means something to those watching the subbed episodes of Dragon Ball Super, and not waiting for the dubbed ones like me. The dub just got to the Resurrection F arc, so I'm pretty psyched to watch something I've already seen stretched out over ?fo??urteen weeks.

I did a Kamehameha, dammit!

Some new details have surfaced about the port of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to the Switch. Along with the requisite motion controls (you can "perform" a kamehameha) comes ad-hoc co-op pl?ay for up to six players, single joy-con  1v1 multiplayer action and a few time limited bonuses for picking up the game on launch.

The first timed special comes in the form of the entire campaign from the first Xenoverse game. Called "Time Patrol," there is no time frame for how long this option will be available. I'm?? guessing it will be free DLC?? for the first few weeks or so. The second bonus will be available in first print copies of the game and it pertains to a code to unlock 70 characters immediately.

No word on whether or not this port will be heading West, but the game will be launching in Fall 2017 in Japan. The Switch is region free, so if you've been waiting for this game on a portable console, at least y?ou can play it on a US unit.

When I started playing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 last October, I had no idea I'd still be playing six months later. It's not the greatest game, but it's got the kind of content that's pretty great to mash through for a short bursts at a time.? It's been especially great given the amount of support it seems to be getting lately too. 

The third DLC batch, DB Super Pack 3, will be available April 25th and features Dragon Ball Super characters Zamasu, Goku Black Rosé (*ruff*) and Bojack from Bojack Unbound. Along with the characters are new skills, new quests, ?and new costumes. 

I've promised myself to only watch Super's English dub (which seems to be just wrapping the Battle of Z ar??c), but seeing Goku doing bad guy stuff might be what it takes to put me onto the rest of the series' run.

This April's DB Super Pack 3 DLC will focus on Dragon Ball Super's Future Trunks Saga, including three new characters: Bojack, Zamasu, and Goku Black Rose. Wait. I haven't followed Dragon Ball Super but "Black Rose?" Really?

Bojack will also be available as a Master once you acquire his clothing, which is now available via the TP Medal Shop. Also included are three new Parallel Quests, five new skills, four new costumes, five Super Souls, and two emotes.&nb??sp;

Less than 9,000 minutes

Are you an owner of an Xbox One who couldn't get a Switch today? Maybe you did, but weren't able to buy Breath of the Wild...although you could just grab it digitally. There is also the third option of you being an Xbox One owner and only wanting that console. Well, if you fall into any of these categories and have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, you can now play Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 or Battlefield 1 for the entire weekend.

You'll have until the end of Sunday, March 5 to play as much of either (or ??both) games as you'd like. This includes access to the multiplayer and campaign portions of each title, which could conceivably eat your entire weekend. I'm not sure you'll be able to raise your power level to over 9,000 in only three days, but you can try!

Free and paid DLC incoming

Bandai Namco pledged to support Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with updates and DLC, and today we're getting a glimpse at what those plans will look like in practice. The game's first u??pdate is due a month from now, on December 20, and this is what players are getting for free:

• New skill for SSGSS Goku: Awakened Skill Kaioken times 10!
• New skill for Hit: Awakened Skill Pure Progress
• Six new costumes
• Four new attacks
• A new event for everyone: Frieza's Siege! Be ready to defend Conton City against Frieza's Army, there are 10 new Jersey costumes to win!
• A new Raid Quest featuring Evil Yamcha, with an exclusive title to win!

There's also five new teachers (Future Gohan, Bardock, Cooler, Android 16, Whis) who can teach you 20 new attacks, but that content will be tied to Bandai Namco's VIP Corner.

On the paid DLC front, we're looking at:

• Two new playable characters: Cabbe (with his Super Saiyan transformation) and Frost (Final Form)
• One new master: Hit
• Five new attacks
• Three new Parallel Quests
• Two new costumes
• Five Super Souls
• Two emotes

This stuff is also releasing on December 20, available through either the season pass or as a standalone add-on. I didn't need a reminder that I'm out of the loop on Dragon Ball, but this sure is one! I've got some wiki trawling ahead of me. ??Not sure my browser can handle that many tabs, though.
