Madden 25's new BOOM Tech system introduces physics-based tackling, improved ball carrier mechanics, and new? catching and pre-play features.

In the first Madden 25 blog, EA provided a deep dive into BOOM Tech, which has been two years in the making. To start, BOOM Tech offers realistic control with every tackle, meaning players can punish ball carriers with devastating hit sticks or fly past offensive linemen with new truck, dive, and stiff arm animations. In addition, the new data-driven physics take into account timing, weight, speed, strength, and player ratings in one-on-one ball plays. The new hit stick makes it possible to tackle ball carriers harder than ever before based on the angle of impact, stick-skill, and accuracy of the cut sticks, big hits, and? trucks.

Players will feel the tackles as if they were on the field the?mselves thanks to the new sound effects and controller rumble hactics when a crunching tackle connects just right. Offense also gets an overhaul thanks to Boom Tech. A new ball carrier balance and recovery system makes it easier for running backs to counter the hit stick, break a tackle, and recover their balance before going down.

As for when players can try out the new BOOM Tech system for the first time, Madden 25 launches on August 16.

EA confirmed that players can transition their Road to Glory character from EA Sports College Football 25 into Madden 25 Superstar mode. It's been 10 years since players could use this feature in NCAA College Football 14 before the series went on a lengthy hiatus. The ability to pay athletes opened the do??or for EA to revive the franchise, and now football fans will have the exciting opportunity to take a created avatar through all four years of college and then under the bright lights of the NFL.

If players want to take advantage of the transition feature, the $150 MVP bundle includes Deluxe Editions of Madden 25 and College Football 25. In comparison, purchasing the Deluxe Editions separately costs $200, so if you already planned on getting both titles, you can save $50. EA Sports College Football 25 launches on July 19, while Madden 25 hits shelves on ?August 16. This gives players just under a ?month to get a head start on their Road to Glory Journey, which should be plenty of time to knock out a few college seasons.

Madden 25 Superstar mode features new NFL Draft Combine drills so players can show off their EA Sport??s College Football 25 avatar's skills and improve their draft stock. Based on your avatar's Combine performance and college career stats, they will ?be drafted by an NFL team between the first and seventh rounds. EA also implemented a new Superstar quest system that challenges players to improve their relationship with the media, coach, and teammates. In addition, there are new upgrades to Player Grading that revamp player progression and make the transition from being a rookie to a seasoned veteran more realistic.

After months of requests from the community, FC Mobile Tra?ining Transfer will finally arrive in Ultimate Team as part of the upcoming update.

The new system could be a complete game changer, as it will help players reduce a lot of grind. Anyone who has played the game will know how important it is to train cards, but the process isn't infinite. After a certain point, the resources become scarce, which also hinders squad development. The FC Mobile? Training Transfer, as planned by EA Sports, will help to reduce many he??adaches.

FC Mobile Training Transfer Guide

The FC Mobile Training Transfer process will ??be pretty straightforward, and a new currency will be introduced for the same purpose. You'll be able to earn Training Transfer points, which will be used to shift the XP from on?e card to another.

• Select Training Transfer from the menu.
• First, select the card from which the training will be transferred.
• Second, select the card which will receive the XP.
• Click on the 'Transfer' button to complete the process.

There are still going to be a lot of strategies involved with the transfer process. First, the training transfer will be limited if the target player has a lower rank. In such cases, the ext??ra XP will remain with the original card, and you can transfer it once the rank of the target card is high enough. Additionally, ranks of the cards won't be affected?? by any transfer of training.

You should also remember that 10% XP will be lost in each transfer. Training Transfer points, required in every exchange, won't be infinite either. However, there will be plenty of in-game activiti?es from which players can earn these points.

FC Mobile Training Transfer will be available after the update on June 11. This update will also introduce a new Euro 2024 tournament mode in Ultimate Team. You ca??n select any of the qualified nations and write your own history.

Fans of American football are no doubt looking forward to the annual entry in EA's Madden NFL series, officially titled EA Sports Madden NFL 25. As such, we've compiled everything we k??now about this year's game, including when it'll launch and which platforms it will be available for.

When will Madden 25 release?

As expected, EA has confirmed via digital store listings like Steam that Madden NFL 25 will launch this August; specifically, August 16. This means it will come out a month after EA Sports College Football 25, another American football sim from EA.

What platforms will Madden 25 release for?

Unsurprisingly, Madden NFL 25 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Aside from being the most current platforms, this has been the case for the last several games ever since 2020's Madden NFL 21. Anyone who's still on last-gen consoles don't need to worry about missing out, though, as the game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. They aren't being sold separately though; standard editions of the PS5 version come with the PS4 version, and standard editi?ons of the Xbox Series X|S version come with the Xbox One version.

Is it actually called Madden NFL 25?

There was speculation on what exactly this year's Madden NFL game would be called since EA already named the 2013 entry Madden NFL 25 in celebration of the series' 25th anniversary. Rather than go with anything radically different, EA's elected to simply call this year's entry EA Sports Madden NFL 25.

Admittedly, the 2013 Madden NFL 25 isn't exactly the easiest to buy, what with it being over a decade old. After a decade-long hiatus, EA Sports' College Football is coming back. Not only is it reviving?? a beloved series for football fans, but it's also bringing all 134 FBS (formerly Division I-A) schools along fo??r the ride.

It's no Mutant Football League, but it'll do

First released as Bill Walsh College Football in 1993, the series was renamed College Football USA in 1996, and NCAA Football in 1998. Then, the NCAA opted not to renew its licensing contract with EA in 2013 due to a legal dispute regarding player likenesses. Despite plans to continue under the College Football name, EA put a pause on the series after several conferences revoked their licenses with the publisher.

On February 2, 2021, the official EASPORTSCollege X account made a post stating "College Football is coming back." Fast forward to this morning with the announcement that all 134 FBS schools would be in the next entry in the series, College Football 25.

Additionally, per The Athletic, players on any of the teams within the included 134 FBS schools can opt-in for inclusion in the title. In return, they'll receive $600 and a copy of the game. Initial rosters will include up to 85 players and those who don't opt-in will have a generic avatar as their stand-in. The Athletic anticipates at least 11,000 players to be represented, so EA would be shelling out $6.6M at minimum if they all opt in. With that kind of payout, EA needs to ship a massive number?? of copi?es to recoup costs.

Fortunately for the publisher, college football in the States is a huge business, with individual teams in the Big Ten generating upwards of $134M a year. After a 10-year absence, EA could be well-poised to strike, like an oilman in the Te??xas oil b??oom.

It's been over ten years since the release of EA Sports' NCAA Football 14. The college football fanbase has been rabid for its reintroduction for years. They'll get their first?? look at the series' evolution soon.

The official EA Sports College Football X account updated its profile today to reveal the franchise's new logo. Alongside that, we also got a College Football 25 teaser trailer that announced the game would be fu?lly reveal??ed in May.

We've known since November that EA was targeting this summer for College Football 25's release. However, after previous delays, fans may have been speculative as to whether the college football sim could actually meet its target. Those same fans were playfully called out in today's College Football 25 teaser. "Yeah, it's really happening."

EA's NCAA series was beloved during its run. Many football fans considered the franchise to be superior to its sister series, Madden. Unfortunately, due to complications in college sports around name, image, and likeness, EA shelved it following the release of NCAA Football 14.

The NCAA series was renowned for nailing the authentic atmosphere of college football. The fans, the mascots, the rivalries, the stadiums, all of it faithfully recreated in video game form. The Collge Football 25 teaser trailer seems to hit on all those nostalgic notes, assuri??ng returning fans t??hat this reincarnation will be worth the patience.

With a reveal in May and release in the summer,?? we won't have to wait much longer to find out.

EA realigns its sports, games, and IP efforts

Electronic Arts has announced a shake-up within the publisher, realigning its internal efforts. EA studios are being split amongst two organizations: the existing EA Sports, and ?EA Entertainment.

EA Entertainment will look to encompass the publisher's owned IP, as well as licensed IP production. "We’re building the future of interactive entertainment on a foundation of legendary franchises and innovative new experiences, which represents massive opportunities for growth," wrote EA CEO Andrew Wilson in today's announcement.

Laura Miele has been appointed as President ??of EA Entertain??ment, Technology & Central Development, working alongside leads like Vince Zampella, Samantha Ryan, and Jeff Karp.

EA Sports, meanwhile, will still head up the company??'s sport efforts. Cam Weber is President of EA Spor?ts. Both organizational branches will report to Wilson at the top.

Via IGN, this would put Respawn, DICE, Ripple Effect, Ridgeline Games, Full Circle, Motive Studio, EA Seattle, BioWar??e, and the Originals label, as well as mobile projects, under Entertainment. Sports would, meanwhile, look after Sports endeavors.

"This evolution of our company continues to empower our studio leaders with more creative ownership and financial accountability to make faster and more insightful decisions around development and go to market strategies," Wilson said. "These steps will accelerate our business, drive growth, and deliver long??-term value for our people, our players and our communities."

Today's news also notes that Chris Bruzzo is retiring,? and Chris Suh is leaving EA.

A new look for EA

While the change seems large, it seems like a lot of EA is staying the same. EA is already making some big shake-ups in the game department, as a recent report revealed EA is in talks to shift Star Wars: The Old Republic development to a third-party studio.

On the Sports side, EA is looking to kickstart its own soccer franchise post-FIFA in EA Sports FC, as well as reboot its college football efforts.

The Entertainment side ??do??es seem like it could be positioning EA to do something with its IP outside the realm of games, but we'll have to wait and see on that front.

Another week, another tedious story of rich men jumping on a bandwagon just as the wheels fall off. Electronic Arts has announced that its EA Sports division is partnering with multi-million dollar clothing company Nike in a?? n?ew endeavor that will bring blockchain elements to the former's range of popular sports titles.

EA Sports will work in alignment with Nike Virtual Studios in order to bring the sportswear manufacturer's new NFT range, known as ".Swoosh", to t??he studio's range of annual releases. One would assume this refers to titles such as EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA), Madden, and EA Sports PGA Tour. Details were not released on how the controversial blockchain technology would be incorporated into its video games, but the publisher noted that details will follow in the near future.

License to bring in UK teams for six-year period

As Elec?tronic Arts prepare for a life without the official FIFA branding, the publisher is reportedly already taking steps to ensure the future of its hugely lucrative footballing franchise, reaching out to the UK Premier League in order to secure licensing for its teams and players.

According to a report from Sky Sports, EA is in the process of negotiating with the Premier League to come to terms on a partnership for the upcoming EA Sports FC series �essentially the "FIFA" series sans official endorsement from the FIFA organization itself, which officially parted ways with Electronic Arts with the publishing of recent release FIFA 23, bringing an end to an almost 30-year partnership.

The EA x Premier League deal is, according to Sky Sports' sources, in its closing stages, and is said to have a worth of around ÂŁ488 million (roughly $588 million USD). This figure, if correct, is believed to be around double the value of the previous deal between the two participants. The new contract will reportedly last for six years and will? see EA retain its role as the lead partner of the Pre?mier League, while also retaining its licensing for the use of 20 UK teams and their corresponding players.

As for FIFA itself, the group has previously suggested that it intends to launch its own football game franchise, and is currently seeking a developer for this as-yet-untitled new series. The celebration is being removed in light of recent events

A touchdown celebration animation is being removed from Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 23, in light of recent real-world events. The CPR celebration will be taken out of the game, after Buff??alo Bills safety Damar Hamlin colla??psed on the field on January 2.

The celebration in question has the scoring player lie down the ground, while their teammates run over and give fake CPR to "revive" them. EA Sports told CBS Sports that celebration will be removed from the game r??elatively soon.

"EA Sports is taking steps to remove the celebration from Madden NFL 23 via an update in the coming day??s," a spokesperson told CBS.

Hamlin collapsed on the field during the Bills' game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2. He went into cardiac ??arrest, and personnel had to perform CPR on Hamlin.

Damar Hamlin has since been discharged from a hospi?tal in Buffalo and will continue rehabilitation at?? home.

This isn't Madden NFL's first time seeing real-world events collide with in-game features. EA removed former ?Las Vegas Raiders?? head coach Jon Gruden from Madden NFL 22 in 2021, following his resignation over remarks made in emails. Concussions and brain injuries have also been an ongoing topic for the Madden series, with some games working to address their portrayal of the issue.

The return of virtual college football is still a ways away

Electronic Arts' return to college football is still a ways off. EA Sports confirms it's?? aiming for a summer 2024 revival of its college football series.

Speaking to ESPN, EA Sports VP and general ??manager Daryl Holt s?aid the timing is due to how much of an undertaking this will be.

"That's the best date fo?r us to bring the game that we think is going? to meet or exceed our player expectations," Holt told ESPN. "And cover the breadth and scale of what we want in the game. We're trying to build a very immersive college football experience."

Part of this involves use real college football players in the game. Before, using players' likeness in a new EA Sports college football seemed like a non-starter. But as Holt describes it, "the road's open now, but it's stil??l under construction."

This echoes some comments from July 2021 about the possibility of using real players in the virtual experience. An EA source told ESPN that players ?will be compensated if they appear in-game.

Back to school

EA first announced back in February of 2021? that college football would be returning to the EA Sports fold. Alongside today's window, EA also confirms ??that both Road to Glory and Dynasty modes will be in store for the new series.

Since we've been without virtual college football since 2013, this news probably sparks some hope for fans of the sport. Multi-year partnerships with UWCL announced

This year's final collaboration between Electronic Arts and FIFA, FIFA 23, is the first title in the long-standing series to feature women's club football. And, in addition this long overdue feature in smash-selling franchise, EA Sports has also announced its intention to invest in women's football via a serie??s of new initiatives.

Firstly, EA will contribute $11 million USD via its "Starting XI" fund, which will be invested in women's clubs, leagues, and up-and-coming players. This will be followed in 2023 by a new internship program, which will be extended to all of its women's footballin??g partners in order to help support and finance new and upcoming players as they begin their journey to glory within The Beautiful Game.

FIFA's final days keep EA in the premiership

It's the turn of long-time developer/publisher Electronic Arts to share its results from the most recent quarter of the 2023 financial ye?ar. And while many publishers are showing a slump in overall reven??ue, EA seems to be relatively healthy, powered by its ongoing dominance over the sporting game industry.

Overall revenue for EA is up 14% year-on-year, which translates to a meaty $1.77 billion USD. Net income is also up �offering a huge 52% rise which equates to $311 million. It will probably come as zero surprise that the FIFA franchise is still one of the aces in EA's portfolio, with FIFA Mobile an??d microtransactions service FIFA Ultimate Team continuing to grow in both re?venue and users. FUT has, notably, seen its user base rise by 40% in the past 12 months.

It also seems that EA's purchase of Codemasters was a very savvy decision, as the UK developer's F1 22 has actually outperformed on the publisher's expectations. Codemasters was, of course, purchased by EA for $1.2 billion back in early 2021. EA was hoping that the acquisition would give it a dominant stake in the racing game marke?t, and it seems that the British studio is already delivering on those hopes.

This year's FIFA entry, FIFA 23, will be the final football sim released with the official FIFA branding. While EA has a huge task ahead in rebranding one of the biggest and most profitable gaming franchises on the planet, the community knows where its dedication lies, and it seems hugely unlikely that the loss of the FIFA brand will harm EA's bottom ??li?ne in the bigger picture.

This year's FIFA will be the last

Electronic Arts has announced that its partnership with FIFA is coming to a close. The video game publisher confirms today that after over two decades, EA will be splitting off and making its own series, dubbed EA Sports FC.

The rebrand will take effect in 2023, so this year's virtual soccer title will still be under the FIFA name. Then, in summer 2023, the EA Sports FC franchise will become the new franchise.

In a blog penned by Cam Weber??, the EVP of EA Sports and Racing, the publisher confirms that many aspects of their previous soccer games will rema??in intact. This includes Career, Pro Clubs, Volta, and of course, Ultimate Team. The licensing will still remain in effect too, including partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and the MLS.

Weber writes that?? this independe??nt platform will bring an opportunity to "innovate, create, and evolve." The publisher is looking to increase the number of partners it works with, and expand to "new authentic experiences."

The long game

The writing has been on the wall for this move. Earlier this year, VGC reported that EA CEO Andrew Wilson was look??ing at breaking off its relationship with FIFA. According to VGC's sources, Wilson call??ed the FIFA license an "impediment" to Electronic Arts' ambitions.

Weber had even floated the idea of EA Sports football without FIFA involved in a letter last year. "As we look ahead, we’re also exploring the idea of renaming our global EA SPORTS football ??games," Weber wrote at the time. "This means we’re reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all our other official part??nerships and licenses across the football world."

Despite tensions mounting, this is still a major shift for the sports scene. After one more year of FIFA football, the series will be moving to a new name. Seems like we'll have to wait until next year to hear if the changes amount to more than a name, however. EA says it will share more info about its new era in summer 2023. Until then, I suppose there's always FIFA 23.

The squads are leaving the sports games in response to the invasion of Ukraine

Electronic Arts says it will remove Russian teams from several FIFA games, as well as its NHL series. The national team and all Russian clubs will be removed from FIFA 22, Mobile, and Online, and NHL 22.

This lines up its partners FIFA and UEFA's recent decision to suspend all Russian clubs and national teams from competition. EA says it is also "actively evaluating" other related changes to other areas of its games. The IIHF also announced a similar ruling over Russian and Belarusian teams.

These moves are in response to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia. "EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine," reads today's statement.

EA is now one of several tech companies who have ?altered their services in response to th?e invasion.

The games industry has been issuing responses on the matter throughout the week as well. Several game studios in Ukraine have spoken on the matter, and many ?studios and publishers are calling for humanitarian support and offering donati??ons, through game sales and their own contributions.

This isn't the first time EA Sports games have had to respond to real-world issues. In 2020, the Washington NFL team name was updated to a generic one in Madden NFL 21. And last year, Madden replaced Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden with a generic likeness over reports on remarks he'd made.
