Enshrouded has grown even further this week. Melodies of the Mire is the next update for the open-world multiplayer survival game. And don't worry: "Melodies" isn't some meaningless alliteration. The new Enshrouded - Melodies ??of the Mire update lets you skip through a new bi?ome as a musical bard, if you wish.

Obviously, you want to skip through the biome as a musical bard. Who wouldn't? Thankfully, you won't even have to do it alone. You can craft instruments, ranging from a lute to a flute, and even a harp. There are multiple instruments, allowing you and a few buddies to traipse through the world as your very own band of bards. Frankly, allowing players to stop and bust out a jingle is something every game should try to implement. You can't let the pirates of Sea of Thieves have all the fun, right?

Enshrouded - Melodies of the Mire update brings more to explore

Moving away from the melodies, we should cover the "Mire" part of "Melodies of the Mire." The Blackmire is an expansion of the Revelwoods. This vertical-focused biome lets you bounce high into the trees using jump pads. A new enemy type called the Vukah is already waiting in the branches, however, waiting for a fight. The update comes with new tree and terrain types, along with props and furniture to craft. If you don't mind having the Vukah as neighbors, the update also lets you build a treehouse in the mire. Doesn't that sound cozy?

??That's not all the update brings. You can also check out a new weapon, the Dual-Wielded Daggers, and a vanity system that lets you hide some equipped gear.

Enshrouded update includes the community's top-voted change

The Enshrouded community has been clamoring for player-based quest progression, and they finally have it. Melodies of the Mire includes player and world progression, allowing you to complete quests even if someone on the server already did. The change has more than 19,000 votes on the Enshrouded feedback page. I'm guessing a lot of people are going to be happy with the update.

You've got until Monday, June 3 at 10 a.m. PT to choose from what I would say is a pretty good list of titles.

Take a quick look on the sales page to see for yourself. Want 30% off Sons of the Forest? Of course you do. How about 33% off Project Zomboid? An odd number, but sure! Or maybe you want to get Stranded Deep, Valheim, or Subnautica for 50% off each. Even Palworld is there, at 10% off the regular asking price.

Summer lovin'

These events seem to come around more often these days. However, we're not quite at the big Steam Summer Sale just yet. That begins in a few weeks. You can keep an eye on the SteamDB countdown if you reall??y want to see exactly when it's scheduled to begin.

Crafting and survival games feel lik??e they shouldn't be as popular as they are. But as we can see here, there are still so many offerings, largely from more independent studios. A lot of them are pretty decent as well, in my experience.

There are definitely more than a few in the sale that I'm keen to try out; Sons of the Forest, Project Zomboid, maybe even Enshrouded. Can I afford all these games? Check back wit?h me later?.

It seems we're spoiled for choice at the moment when it comes to Early Access survival games inspired by other franchises. Palworld has been making more money than God, but Keen Games' recently released Enshrouded has been doing pretty well, too.

A recent Twitter/X post from the developer is proud to announce that its title has "reached over one million players." This is after just four days. While that may pale in comparison to Palworld's six million sold in a similar timefram??e, it's still a mass??ive accomplishment.

In fact, Enshrouded is currently at the number three spot on Steam's Top Sellers list, just behind "Pokémon-with guns" �with Steam Deck still at number one, because of course it is. Whether either of thes??e can be toppled by the newcome?r remains to be seen at this stage.

What is Enshrouded?

If you haven't played it yet, Enshrouded is a survival and crafting game that's taking cues from the likes of Valheim. It's "set within a sprawling voxel-based continent" and tasks you with a journey "across ??the mountains and deserts of an open world."

It's currently only out on Ste?am at the moment, but Keen Games is "keen" (ha!) to release it on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, hopefully later thi?s year.

It definitely feels like this genre is getting quite full at the moment. There's just something about games that encapsulate survival released in alpha or beta states that's appealing to a lot of people. Last year it was Sons of the Forest, and now we've got Palworld and Enshrouded.

However, given that the latter has a current player peak of 160,405, according to SteamDB, it?'s probably not likely to take on the might of t?he former.
