Marvel Entertainment released the newest character reveal trailer for the upcoming team-based hero shooter, Marvel Rivals.

Moon Knight, the focus of the trailer, was ??revealed to be among the 25 playable heroes and villains available on the game's launch roster. Some of his abilities and their combat utility are on display in the short reveal.

Moon Knight appears to have a damage-per-second centered design that is adept at mid-range skirmishes. His primary fire lacks overall damage output but deals knockback that can push opponents off the map for quick kills. Moon Knight's oth??er abilities look useful for dealing burst damage, cleaning up kills on low-health enemies, and using his glide and super jump to enter and exit the fray at will.

His ultimate technique is an area-of-effect attack that opens up a portal above a hostile location, raining d??own massive fists that smash into the ground, dealing damage on the way. For overall stra?tegy, Moon Knight looks to harass enemies from a distance, then uses his movement options to get into the fight in a favorable position. From there, he can cause mayhem in the enemy team's back-row and escape unscathed.

Moon Knight's inclusion in Rivals isn't surp?rising considering the popularity of the hero's TV mini-series starring Oscar Isaac, though Marvel hasn't spoken much about the character or a follow-up season since the show aired in 2022.

Marvel Rivals is free-to-play and officially launches December 6 on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store. The game's entire 25-character launch roster is also free-to-pla??y and won't require players to unlock them before use.

On September 26, SNK announced Street Fighter's Ken Masters and Chun-Li are joining the roster of its upcoming Fatal Fury title. The announcement was made during the developer's block at Tokyo Game Show along with a teaser trailer.

Coming just days after Fatal Fury protagonist Terry Bogard's release in Street Fighter 6, the news that Capcom characters are crossing?? ove??r into SNK's intellectual properties as well, lit the fighting game community on fire.

Beloved YouTuber Maximilian Dood's hilarious reaction to the trailer is already being memed into oblivion, and questions of what's next in this working relationship between tw??o fighting game titans? are swirling in the rumor pool.

Fighting game players, especially of the older generation, are familiar with past crossovers between Capcom and SNK, such as the Capcom vs. SNK games and SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos. These crossover? titles hold a legendary reputation and were foundational in the development of the FGC. They run so deep in the community that the CvS games held spots at EVO ?when it was still called Battle by the Bay.

2003 was the last time gamers received a full crossover fighting game from the two developers, but with Terry and Mai Shiranui in SF6 and Ken and Chun in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, it's very likely one is in the works. But the Street Fighter crossover isn't the only one SNK is working on presently, as the company strangely announced soccer star Ronaldo's involvement in its new title just one day before that.

Fatal Fury is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and? PC before its release on April 24, 2025.

Epic Games Store is well known for providing free games, and sometimes, those 100% off deals are just too good to pass up. August 22 will see the addition of hit KRAFTON title The Callisto Protocol and Gigantic: Rampage Edition. 

The two titles will be available for free between August 22 a??nd August 29 and if you download both of them during this time, you’ll be getting $70 USD worth of content for absolutely free.

The Callisto Protocol initially released on various platforms back in 2022, and the reviews from players at the time weren't favorable. Players were left baffled by the juxtaposition between the spooky atmosphere and clunky combat, which focuses heavily on Melee patterns and combos. Admittedly, if you're wanting a Dead Space-esque, terrifying romp through a futuristic sci-fi horror, then it's understandable that being forced into close ?combat with repetitive infected and mutated foes is not going to light your world on fire.

The PC release date announcement isn't all Square Enix revealed, either. Along with the glorious news that PC players finally get to experience the action-driven RPG, there’s also a brand new trailer �‘Deliverance�/p>

Before Final Fantasy 16's September 17 PC debut, or September 18 for folks in Japan, you can play the demo right now on both Steam and Epic Games Store. The FF16 demo co?vers th?e opening section of the game, and save data carries over to your purchase of the full version.

Publisher PQube and developer Octeto Studios announced the date along with the new trailer below. You can spot some real Skies of Arcadia vibes at first glance. When this one launches, it'll be plundering the skies on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, an?d PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. 

You might have already taken these wings for a spin yourself at this point. Sky Oceans had a demo during Steam Next Fest in June, offering up a brief taste of the life of a dogfighting sky pir??ate. The aerial battles themse?lves are turn-based, giving you the option to attack or evade enemy fire when necessary. If your crew's gear isn't cutting it, you can take some time outside of battle to reinforce equipment, boost your arsenal of weapons, and improve overall agility.

The story has yo?u traversing the world above the clouds as Glenn Windwalker, who certainly has a name suited for?? adventure. The actions you and your squad take throughout the narrative can shape the future of communities around the world, each providing their own unique characters, dilemmas, and related sub-quests.

Whether or not Sky Oceans lives up to its inspirations is still, if you'll pardon the expression, up in the air. Personally, we don't have nearly enough sky-far?ing RPGs featuring rag-tag pirate crews, so the more the mer??rier.

About a billion and six years ago, I played an indie puzzle game about connecting and stacking little balls of goo in order to reach an end goal. I realize I'm probably not selling that idea well, but it's exciting to know that the sequel �the aptly named World of Goo 2 �will be releasing at the end of this week.

Scheduled to come out on August 2, the follow-up to 2008's World of Goo has been in the pipeline for almost 16 years. So much has changed since then, but 2D Boy's upcoming game looks as though it's retaining what made the original such?? a charming experience.

According to Tomorrow Corporation �which is collaborating on the project �the sequel will b??e "bursting with undiscovered new species of Goo," adding that we'll be able to explore a "new story spanning hundreds of thousands of years and watch the world change."

More like World of Two...amirite?

One thing about World of Goo 2 is that �according to the studio �while you'll be able to buy it off?? th?e official website completely DRM-free, it's also going to be available on the Epic Games Store and the Nintendo Switch eShop. Doesn't look like it's coming to Steam or any other platform. Whether this will change cannot be said at this stage.

Personally, I am looking forward to this one. The original had lashings of character, a unique style that blended colorful landscapes with cutscenes that look like they wouldn't be out of place ??in a Tim Burton animation. Plus all that Goo, innit.

It is a shame the new game won't be on Steam, as the first World of Goo is on there. I ??would definitely urge anyone who's interested in physics-based puzzle games to give it a go. You'll laugh??. You'll cry. You might even goo a bit.

Following an action-packed demo, a launch date has been locked in for Iron Meat. Heavily inspired by Contra with an extra hel??ping of body horror, Retroware's run-and-gunner hits consoles and PC on September 26, 2024.

When Iron Meat touches down, it'?ll be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, itch.io, and Epic Games Store. There's al??so an exclusive limited edition on the way to PS5 and Switch from Strictly Limited. These will be the only physical versions released around the world.

Strictly Limited is dubbing its physical release of Iron Meat a "Speed Run," as it will arrive day and date with the digital release. They promise "no pre-order or additional waiting time," with more details to come soon. 

I really enjoyed the couple of stages I got to play of Iron Meat. It sticks incredibly close to the template Konami's Contra series provided, but the action set pieces, enemies, and boss designs left me wanti??ng to see what else ?it has in store. 

Also like Contra, Iron Meat lets two players get together for some classic couch co-op. There are 30 unlockable skins, as well, each with interchangeable parts. Now you won't have to run and gun through the whole thing looking like a dollar store Probotector. I may come for the gory side-scrolling action, but I'm willing to stay for a little Iron Meat fashion mix-and-matching.

With reports that Embracer Group allegedly cancelled an upcoming Deus Ex game, hopes of a return to the series have been fading. The industry is in a sad state now, so if you want to cheer yourself up with a dose of Adam Jensen, you can pick up Mankind Divided for free next week.

That's one of the titles being given away over on Epic Games Store. The other is an indie puzzle from 2013 called The Bridge. Both will be available between March 14 and March 21. They will be replacing the sci-fi combat game Astro Duel 2.

While it may not be the most lauded Deus Ex entry out there, it's still a nice lit??tle freebie for those who have yet to play it.

Things are so up in the air for Eidos-Montreal's celebrated series. With voice actor Elias Toufexis being told to stop talking so much about Adam Jensen, there's definitely a sense that we won't ever get to see a follow-up to Mankind Divided.

It's a story we're all getting sick of hearing, no doubt. The video game industry is in dire straits at the moment, as huge publishers issue redundancies and studio closures. Eidos was one of those recently, which effectively put a nail in the Deus Ex coffin. Honestly, it's hard to keep up with the amount of job losses that hav?e occurred these past 12 months or so.

While we won't likely get to see a new Deus Ex entry, maybe take some comfort in being able to get a copy of the latest installment for free. Sorr??y, didn't mean to bring the mood down ther?e.

The remaster of the original three Tomb Raider games was released not that long ago. For PC user?s, there was a choice between purchasing it on Steam or Epic Games Store. However, there seemed to be some notable differences between the two versions, which the developer has now acknowledged.

According to a post from The Gamer a couple of days ago, fans began to notice that Tomb Raider I-III Remastered was different on EGS than on Stea?m?. For starters, the Epic Games version had different skyboxes in places like the Colosseum, and the Greece levels had "new light holes."

Since then, a post on the Steam page has noted that EGS had a build of the remaster that h??ad "incomplete assets," and the download contained "some work-in-progress materials" that weren't meant for public consumption.

Update also imminent

Aspyr has now fixed the problem, uploading the correct version to Epic. However, some �such as a reporter from Eurogamer and the aforementioned The Gamer article �have noted this incomplete build had better-looking assets than the Steam version??. This could suggest that the two?? downloads are not evenly matched, for whatever reason.

That aside, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is also getting its first update soon. In the same Steam post, the developer thanked fans for their "continued support, shares, and feedback" on t?he games, with an update said to be in the wor?ks.

We ?don't exactly know what's coming, ??but the studio says it anticipates sending this update out "in the next few weeks."

In the early hours of this morning, a ransomware group claimed to have hacked into Epic Games, taking personal data, such as names, payment details, and passwords. However, the Fortnite and Unreal st?udio has since responded to concerns that anyone has gained access to files?, saying it's investigating but hasn't found any evidence so far.

According to the Australian site Cyber Daily, a group calling itself the Mogilevich gang is claiming to have gotten hold of around 189GB of personal information from Epic. Some of the data said to have been stolen include “email, passwords, full name, payment information, source code and many other data.�/p>

The group is asking someone who works for the company to "buy the data." While no price has been mentioned, a deadline of March 4 was given, though there was no clue about what would happen if the?? demand for money wasn't met by this date.

No contact made to Epic

In a statement to Eurogamer a?? few hours ago (plus the above tweet), Epic Games has said it's moving fast to investigate these claims.

However, Epic says there is "zero evidence right now that the ransomware claims from Mogilevich are legitimate." The messag?e goes on to say the studio began investigating "within minutes" of seeing the "screenshot of a darkweb webpage in a Tweet from a third party."

A recent post on Twitter from Editor-in-Chief of Bleeping Computer Lawrence Abrams says th?e group is looking for $15K for the allegedly hacked data. However, until Mogilevich contacts Epic, this could well be nothing more than an empty threat. We'll be keeping an eye on this story, though.

If roguelites, transforming robots, and tearing corrupt corporations down from within are all on your to-do list, Metal Mind might just be up your al?ley. Publisher 2P Games announced that the latest from developer WHIRLLAXY LIMITED is set to launc?h on Nintendo Switch and PC (via Epic Games Store) on March 7, 2024.

Any of the ideas here might not be novel on their own, but the trailer certainly has my interest piqued. I'll admit, a lot of that has to do with the visuals. Yes, it's another pixel art roguelite, but so far I'm digging the designs, effects, and how it all appears to work in tandem with the core cust??omization mechanic.

Throw in a pl??ot to liberate your fellow robots and overthrow an organization full of crooked politicians, scientists, engineers, and secret agents and you have my attention.

The aforementioned nogoodniks at the corporation known as AWC are looking to remove sentience from robots and exercise total control over every single automaton. Natu??rally, that means you have to build your own transforming mecha with the help of more than 100 weapons and a variety of core component mods. Th?e weapons can range from rapid-fire naval artillery to flaming chainsaws and laser cannons, and they can be augmented with mods that address overheating issues, raise your firing rate, and more. 

The level of randomization that comes along with weapon and mod pickups moves Metal Mind firmly into roguelite territory, hopefully keeping each run interesting Beyond that, it looks like the meat of the game lies in mixing and matching what you find and the top-down combat that follows. When Metal Mind makes its way to Switch ?and Epic Games Store it'll be priced at $17.99 with a 15% discount at lau?nch.

A number of people would have been disappointed to learn that Epic changed its mind about offering the retro Fallout games for free via its store. However, some good news is on the horizon, as the company will launch them as part of its storefront giveaways. Just not yet.

According to a recent report from IGN, Epic has been in touch with the publication to say the classic Fallout releases will be up for grabs "later this year." A spokesperson confirmed that the first two games plus Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel will be included.

The original plan was to have all three available on Epic Games Store between February 22 and February 29. However, it was quietly pulled, being replaced by Super Meat Boy.

Some love is needed for these cult hits

It's a bit of a shame we don't exactly know when they'll be available for free. All we know is that it'll be sometime this year. At least it's happening at all, given that fans had the rug pulled out from underneath?? them recently.

There's a good chance a lot of people reading this have only experienced Fallout 3 and beyond. When Bethesda took over the franchise for the 2008 installment, the series went from having more of a cult status on PC to being a mainstream, AAA relea?se.

As and when the older games do become free on Epic Games Store, I would urge you to try them out. They're a different beast to the Bethesda entries, but it will give you a greater appreciation of just what Fallout used to be like.

Epic Games Store pre-orders are now live for Enotria: The Last Song, which is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, ??and Steam. PS5 and Steam pre-orders will arrive later, and for now, you can see a cinematic preview in the new release date trailer below.

In the world of Enotria, players can don role-changing masks and unveil the land's secrets through the power of Ardore. The land is apparently stuck "in an endless play," and as the Mask of Change it's up to you to take on enemies and free all ??the actors who find themselves unwillingly living out r?oles in an endless script.

Combat sounds like it might favor a more aggressive playstyle a la Bloodborne, with the ability to chain parries and implement qu??icksteps to swiftly avoid attacks.?? There's also a posture-breaking system that opens enemies up for a counterattack, triggering an "Awakened" buff.

Pay to play (early)

Pre-order bonuses for the Standard Edition include the original soundtrack extract and a single weapon material upgrade. Deluxe Edition pre-orders pack in that plus a digital art book extract and more in-game content, from exclusive weapon skins to bonus DLC. Beyond that, folks who opt to pre-order the Deluxe Edition will get to play Enotria: The Last Song 72 hours earlier than everyone else. Hopefully,?? there will be impressions flo??ating around before that to better determine just how enticing an incentive that is.

Do you have room in that big heart of yours for another fighting game, but don’t know what to try? 2022’s DNF Duel is free on Epic Games Store as part of their holiday giveaways. You have 24 hours to claim it.

I’ve heard of DNF Duel but know next to nothing about it. There was a lot of PR stuff coming at us in the lead-up and some excitement around the launch, but I think the fighting game market is pretty jammed up with heavy hitters to the point where it maybe didn’t catch fire. It’s a tough market for newcomers. It’s a spin-off of Dungeon & Fighter, which I also don’t know a whole lot about.

When I hear the acronym “DNF,�my mind first goes to “did not finish,�and then afterward goes to �em>Duke Nukem Forever.�/em>

I do know something about the Epic Games Store. It gives away a lot of free games and doesn’t make any money for Epic. I installed it for Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed and uninstalled it once that game came to Steam.

DNF Duel does seem like a good time, though. You certainly can’t argue with the price of free. However, you’ll have to act no??w-ish, since the sale is only for?? 24 hours. It ends on December 21, 2023, at 11am EST.

For some Destiny 2 players, the holidays may have just arrived early. From now until December 20, most of Destiny 2 is free to claim through the Epic Games Store,

The acquisition won't cost a dime, and the content will remain in your library. That said, the Epic Games Store will become the default Destiny 2 destination for those who take up this offer. This is the first of several giveaways from Epic, with 17 reportedly set to arrive over the comin???g days.

Players have been asking for a more accessible entry point in Destiny 2 for years. While the base game is free to play, Destiny's expansions haven't seen much, if any, price drop since release. Sentiment recently came to a head following a round of layoffs at Bungie and the confirmation of the next expansion's delay. 

Just after these events, Bungie debuted Season 23 and a new microtransaction alongside it. Dubbed a "Starter Pack," the contents included a few Exotic weapons and materials that could all be earned free in-game. From there, conversations reemerged around how expensive it was to start Destiny 2. Some even called on Bungie to make older expansions cheaper.

What Destiny 2 expansions is Epic Games Store giving away?

The Epic Games Store is offering the Destiny 2: Legacy Collection for free until December 20. This pack includes all of the currently released expansions in the game except for the newest, Lightfall. That includes Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen. It's important to note that this bundle does not include the Destiny 2 base game, but that is also free.

Between the three expansions, players get a good chunk of content. This includes three Campaigns, three Raids, two Dungeons, four Strikes, and several activities across three new destinations. Of those three Campaigns, The Witch Queen is by far the best, but the others still offer some hi?ghs. And, of cou?rse, each expansion has its Exotic loot to chase. Some of the best weapons come from these expansions, like The Lament, Witherhoard, and Leviathan's Breath.

What isn't included in the Destiny 2: Legacy Collection

Though the name Legacy Collection might imply content from Destiny 2's beginning, this isn't the case. Famously, Bungie vaulted most of the early years of Destiny 2. Nearly everything except some gear from vanilla to Forsaken has been sliced out, including Campaigns and quests. Forsaken itself was split, with the Dreaming City locale and the Last Wish Raid now sold as a Forsaken Pack.?? Bun?gie tossed everything else into the vault alongside the Red War Campaign.

So, aside from the Forsaken Pack, the Destiny 2: Legacy Collection includes most of the "legacy" content still available in-game. Two things it does not include, however, are Dungeon Keys or the 30th Anniversary Pack. Starting with The Witch Queen, Bungie began splitting the Dungeons from the included expansion content. In?stead, accompanying Dungeon Keys were sold separately or included as part of bundles for the annual pass. 

Legacy Collection players can do the Dungeons for Shadowkeep and Beyond Light, but The Witch Queen Dungeons will remain sealed without the add-on. The ??same fate is in store for those hoping to get Gjallarhorn or play some of the fun Dares of Eternity activity. Both were introduced as part of the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack and are similarly sold separately.

How does switching to Epic Games Store work?

Knowing that there's a bevy of free Destiny 2 content waiting to be claimed, some players might wonder if it's worth switching from another platform. The short answer is that, as long as players don't mind using the Epic Games launcher, it's worth it. That said, players shoul?d keep a few things in mind to ensure the experience is smooth.

First off, interested gamers should know how Destiny 2 handles cross-platform play. It's easy to link accounts on multiple platforms, and Destiny 2 supports seamless cross-play. Players can access their characters with all their equipment anywhere Destiny 2 can be played. But DLC purchases don't transfer.

If players have already purchased Lightfall, the 30th Anniversary Pack, or the Forsaken Pack, hopping over to Epic Games means rebuying these items. The Legacy Collection might still end up being the better deal for some players. The included expansions still typically?? sell for their full $30?? value.

Whether Epic Games Store is trying to nab a few regular users or this is Bungie's olive branch, this bundle should hopefully turn a few interested players into true Guardians. It's something the community and Bungie desperately need: some new regulars to help kickstart the population before The Final Shape.

It's been eight years since developer MidBoss released 2064: Read Only Memories, but we're inching ever closer to a return to Neo-San Francisco. A new trailer arrived for Read Only Memories: Neurodiver with yet another upda??ted release window, this time penciling the cyperpunk sequel in for sometime in the first half of 2024.

When Neurodiver was first announced in June 2019, it was planned for a 2020 launch on PC and Mac. More platforms were added as the release window slipped further. It was moved to Q1 2021, then Q1 2022, and finally Q3 2023 before the latest jump to spring 2024. That release is currently set for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. You can see some of the characters, story, and inspiration behind the series in the trailer below, comp?le?te with narration from creative director John "JJSignal" James. 

Neurodiver has ES88 attempting to track down a rogue psychic known as Golden Butterfly, who is hiding in the memories of others and slowly corrupting them. With an ever-changing form, Golden Butterfly's motivation is a mystery. It's up to you to use your own psychic abilities and your genetically-engineered Neurodiver creature to connect with the fragmented memories, repair them, and?? ultimately put a stop to Golden Butterfly.

These events are set about five years after the story that went down in 2064. As such, there are a handful of returning cast members you'll get to reunite with, like Lexi and Tomcat. MidBoss is once again attempting to deliver a loving sendup to the Japanese adventure games of yore, and that love is particularly potent in the FM synth-infused soundtrack. If you want to sample it all while waiting for launch, the "Pilot Memory" demo is currently available on Steam.

Turnip Boy is through evading taxes; now he's taking things to a new extreme. Turnip Boy Robs a Bank was originally slate?d to launch in 2023, but publisher Graffiti Games announced a delay that pushes the heist back ever so?? slightly to January 18, 2024. 

This time around, Turnip Boy has joined the Pickled Gang to commit a whopper of a crime. In the process of delving deeper into the titular bank, you'll steal valuables, tangle with cops, hassle hostages, and get in plenty of shootouts. You can see the particularly pungent pickle Turnip Boy has gotten into i??n the new trailer below. 

The first game from developer Snoozy Kazoo, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, was released in April 2021, sending players out on a quest to take down a corrupt mayor. The sequel keeps the top-down perspective intact with the same delightful pixel art and even ??more felonies to commit. Roguelite elements are back, as well, and the many collectables available range from wearable h?ats to cassettes full of fresh jams. There's also the promise of the "deeper history of Turnip Boy's world," so if you've been following a character called Turnip Boy for the lore, you're in luck. 

Back when Turnip Boy Robs a Bank was first being shown at events like the ID@Xbox Fall Showcase in 2022, it was planned for this year. When it drops in January it will be available on Xbox One??, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those who want to try their hand at violent, veggie-based bank robberies will also be ab??le to do so on Xbox Game Pass.

The Epic Game Store's Black Friday sale 2023 has kicked off, bringing plenty of discounts for games. Most notably, Epic is offering a 33% off coupon during the sale, which can be applied toward Alan Wake 2.

The Epic Coupon can be used throughout the event. It lets buyers take 33% off any checkout purchase that rings up to $14.99 or more. Even though Alan Wake 2 is already set at a reasonable $49.99, using the coupon during the sale will drop it to an even more reasonable $33.49 USD. I may be biased, but that's a damn good deal for a very recently launched GOTY contender. It's a fantastic game that can last you up to around 30 hours.

The Epic Coupon seems to be pretty much the sale of the Epic Games Store Black Friday sale. You can find a host of games at a discount, but the coupon itself seems to be what's taking off the big, meaty chunks. The rules of the coupon state that it can be used at checkout, and you'll get another every time you "complete an eligible transaction." And by that, Epic means any purchase, solo or combined, that adds up to $14.99 or more. Likely, that means you can apply it to Assassin's Creed Mirage Deluxe Edition, even though it's already listed at 20% off.

Having both games already on such a st?eep sale isn't such bad news. The year has been full of bangers, so some may at least appreciate the softer hit on their wallets.

At the other side of the aisle, the Steam Store has also started Black Friday shenanigans with its Autumn Sale, which also lasts until November 28.

Epic Games is in court trying to prove that Google is running an illegal monopoly with their Google Play store. As part of the trial, Epic Games Store boss Steve Allison has admitted that the Epic Games Store is still not profitable, according to reporting by The Verge.

If this sounds extremely familiar, it’s because Epic tried to get a similar ruling against Apple. It went pretty poorly for them at that time. I guess all those layoffs the company performed freed up enough budget to pay their lawyers for another go. If at first you don’t succ??eed.

Speaking of not succeeding, the Epic Games Store doesn’t seem to be. We knew it wasn’t turning a profit from emails revealed in 2021. Part of this is because the company has been doling out money to try and secure exclusivity for certain titles and giving out others for free to try and drive adoption of the platform. More specifically, the leaked emails showed that Epic paid $146 million for Borderlands 3 to be exclusive to the platform.

To put it more into perspective, Epic thought if they gave out free games, secured exclusives, and gave developers a better share of the sales, they would be able to get people to adopt their platform and secure 50% of the PC market. They previously said they expected to start bringing in an annual profit by 2023. Four years later, that strategy still hasn’t worked. Meanwhile, this past September, they laid off 16% of their workforce. When that fails, I suppose the nex?t logical step is to sue your way to success. We’ll see how that works out for them this time.

Psyonix has announced that Rocket League will be getting rid of all of its player-to-player trading systems before the end of 2023. "Player-to-Player Trading will be removed from Rocket League ??on December 5 at 4 p.m. PST," says the official announcement. The good news, though, is that you'll still have an opportunity to trade in duplicate and/or unwanted Core, Tournament, and Blueprint Items for a "random new item of higher rarity," according to the attached FAQ.

Psyonix also explains that item lending was not a supported action, with all trades considered final. The support team cannot help players reverse trades, with that in mind, and as there will be no official way to trade items in Rocket League from Dec??embe??r 5 onwards, any third-party services offering trades from that point on will be considered fraudulent. Finally, Psyonix has also pointed out that trades are not getting rolled back on December 5. Instead, the players' inventories will be locked in, and the player-to-player trading feature will be permanently removed from the game.

Why is Rocket League removing player-to-player trading?

This all may come as a bit of a surprise to some, given that Rocket League used to host a fairly comprehensive item-trading scene back when it was available on Steam. The whole system was very similar to those of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Team Fortress 2, both of which have proven remarkably successful over the past decade or so. After Psyonix was bought out by Epic Games, however, the game was taken off sale on Steam, shifting over to a totally free-to-play model instead, and item trading was the last holdover from that era of Rocket League's history.

"We're [removing player-to-player trading] to align with Epic’s overall approach to game cosmetics and item shop policies, where items aren’t tradable, transferrable, or sellable," said Psyonix. "This opens up future plans for some Rocket League vehicles to come to other Epic games over time, supporting cross-game ownersh??ip."

Psyonix is, at least, being totally up-front about the entire ordeal. Players are given plenty of time to trade away over the next couple of weeks, though it should be obvious that the game's economy is about to undergo massive changes in the comi??ng days. Not necessarily for the better, of course.

Originally revealed back in April, Apogee Entertainment and Emberheart Games' Vexlands is here for everyone to try. The release window is still penciled in for sometime in early 2024, but now a new demo offers a taste of adventure. Despite the fact that this one has curses, monsters, and other threats, there are plenty of opportunities to relax throughout. Check out some of the open-world cr?afting in action in the new trailer below. 

Vexlands is billed as a "cozy crafting adventure," but you'd be forgiven for not seeing much of that in the preview. Developer Emberheart Games is looking to strike a balance between cozy and perilous with this one. Sure, you could strike out in a??n attempt to explore the land and hunt for resources. You could also take some time to rest and relax in your ever-expanding homestead. Decorate your place, tame wild animals, fish, and farm if that's more to your liking.

Are you a cozy enough dude to cleanse the land?

When you're done chilling, there's still going to be a world to save and tiles to unlock. Vexlands features procedurally generated environments with dynamic weather, and each area can unveil something either helpful or harmful. You might find artifacts hinting at the past, or precious resources for trading or crafting. Or you might run into some nasty enemies or a sudden strike of lightning. You can roll the dice yourself with the demo, which is live on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Vexlands will als?o be available on GOG when it launches.

Everything comes full circle as Jean-Claude Van Damme prepares to join the lineup of Mortal Kombat 1. The inspiration for Johnny Cage is now a skin for the character, and he's on display in a new trailer. Van Damme provided his likeness and voice for the skin, which lets him fire off quips with the klassic kast. 

After trading blows that make Bloodsport seem tame, Van Damme closes out the clip with a brutal finisher. It's only appropriate that said finisher is delivered to Johnny Cage. Quite the gruesome price to pay for a life in the copycat spotlight. The video is age-restricted on YouTube, so you'll need to click through to watch.

Splits Decision

The very existence of the Mortal Kombat series can be traced back to JCVD. Co-creator Ed Boon wanted a fighter with Van Damme at the center of it, but the action film star declined. Thus, the notoriously gory, original fighter that still has us ?all double-checking our s?pelling of combat was born.

The Jean-Claude Van Damme character skin for Johnny Cage will be available as part of the Kombat Pack. As previously detailed, you can get that pack in the Premium Edition and Kollector's Edition versions. Van Damme will be released alongside six new early access DLC characters, including Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda Takahashi, Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander. There will also be five new Kameo Fighters, all of which will be available post-launch. The Van Damme skin will be usable at launch, ?so start practicing? your splits now.

It's been two years since bullet hell roguelike Ira launched in Early Access. Now it's almost ready to blast off outta there with Nicalis setting a PC launch date for October 3, 2023. Ira will be available for $19.99 on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. 

Ira puts players in the role of a girl named Yeon, who channels an ancient god's powers to battle the forces of Chaos. Korean studio ABShot is behind this one, which mixes anime-style art with bullet hell shooting and roguelike game design. You can see a samp?le in the PC release date trailer below.

Bringing a bow to a laser fight

If you're a fan of the bullet hell brand of shooters popularized by developers like Toaplan and Cave, you'll be right at home in this colorful maze of lasers. In addition to godly powers, Yeon wields a bow in her quest to locate the scattered remnants of the Ira crystal. Over 150 different bows can be found throughout the game along with various active and passive power-ups. Some might say 150+ bows is overkill, but can you ever really have enough? There are 150 unique relics and 43 bow+relic combo synergies on top of that, and Yeon can summon five Apostles to perform ultimate skills and trigger passive perks. 

As for the roguelike elements, Ira's six stages consist of procedurally generated maps and weapon drops come at random. Early Access feedback seems mostly positive on Steam, where folks have been providing feedback since August 31, 2021. We'll find out how the final version shapes up soon.

Get ready for throwback action because developer Maple Powered Games is working on a new G.I. Joe beat 'em up. The studio announced G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra with Q1 2024 release plans on Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. 

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra promises both online and couch co-op for up to four players in Story and Arcade Mode. Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Roadblock, and other classic characters are getting in on it, so you can shelve your figures for a while after launch. A trailer accompanied Maple Powered Games' announcement, providing an idea of how the retro-style brawler looks.

The forces of nostalgia are firing on all cylinders. There's music from Tee Lopes (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge) with vocals from Crush 40 vocalist Johnny Gioeli. We've also got rough animation that honors the stupendously goofy spirit of the G.I. Joe cartoon. Then it all ends with a quick dash of in-development gameplay footage, which looks like a slightly slower beat 'em up in the vein of The Punisher or Captain America.

Wherever there's trouble

Some locales planned for Wrath of Cobra include G.I. Joe headquarters, "The Pit," Cobra Island, and Cobra's secret underwater base. You won't get much of a feel for it from the trailer, but apparently Wrath of Cobra sports a parry system. That should come in handy when dealing with enemies like Ninja Vipers, the Crimson Guard, and HISS Tanks. Man, I'd say I miss '80s toys, but you can literally go to Target and pick up exact replicas right now. 

However this turns out, at least it's likely to have a killer soundtrack. I don't know that it will reach the heights of the villainous twist theme song from 1987's G.I. Joe: The Movie, but there's plenty of time to dream big.

Can you survive in the world of The Lord of the Rings? If you've been asking yourself that question your whole life, you'll be able to find out soon enough. Publisher North Beach Games via IGN revealed plans to launch cooperative survival game Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria on October 24, 2023.

When Return to Moria first launches it will be available digitally on PlayStation 5 and PC via Epic Games Store. There will also be a physical release for PlayStation 5 on December 5. Beyond that, an Xbox Series X|S version will follow in early 2024.

The deep places of the world

It's been a while since we first heard about Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. Announced back in June 2022, this one is going for a survival twist as players create their own Dwarf before venturing into the treacherous mines. Players will have to craft superior armor and weapons to tough out the challenges that await in the dark and foreboding locale. Your ultimate goal involves recovering treasures and restoring the mines to their former glory, if you can make it out alive.  

Thankfully, there's at least a little bit of safety in numbers. While you can play Return to Moria solo, there's an online multiplayer component that sounds like the main attraction here. It was also previously confirmed that Tolkien scholar Corey Olsen �AKA The Tolkien Professor �is onboard ??as a consultant. We'll see how sturdy our Dwarves really are when the mines open on? October 24.

We got word of a sequel to cyberpunk hack-and-slasher Ghostrunner back in May 2021, and now we have a date. 505 Games set Ghostrunner 2 up as another drop in a jam-packed bucket on October 26, 2023. 

Along with the news came a new trailer for the first-person followup, which continues the story of Jack, a veritable cyber ninja who was thought to be one of the last active Ghostrunners. The new gamescom story trailer dips its toes into what's ?new this time around. This includes a quick look at the absurdly fast motorcyle and some of the vehicular combat that comes along with it. There's also a nasty AI?? cult to contend with, which doesn't sound too divorced from reality.

Ghostrunner 2 features a totally revamped progression system, with new abilities and paths available. According to 505, the sequel hopes to be more approachable to both new and experienced players alike. There's also a new block and perfect parry system, for those who pride themselves on their flashy CQC skills. It sounds like there's more freedom in the encounters and exploration, too, particularly when it comes to taking on bosses.

Rev 'em up

Those looking to pick up Ghostrunner 2 when it launches can dig through a few pre-order options. The $39.99 Base Edition is both physical and digital, and the $49.99 Deluxe Edition and $69.99 Brutal Edition are digital. Picking up the Brutal Edition grants access to the sequel two days early on October 24. There's also a Season Pass with a new mode and four asset packs, a bonus animated skin and a motorcycle skin. If there's a way to make my motorcycle look as ridiculous as possible, count me in. 

Ghostrunner 2 will dash to PlayS?tation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC when it launches on October 26.

A fun tactical Sci-fi RTS epic

This new version of the multiplayer mixes the two, so Homeworld races can compete against Homeworld 2 races with up t?o eight players on 23 maps.
