Even though the Harvest Festival holiday event just started on World of Warcraft, a new event has also gone live today. The Turbulent Timeways event is offici??ally underway, enabling Timewalking for previous expansions at the end of Season 2. The event will run through October 30th and feature Timewalking for a different expansion e??ach week.

Players can utilize the Timewalking dungeons to level up while also earning unique rewards, or, if they are already max level, can obtain heroic raid-quality loot each week. Also, a new XP potion called Distilled Knowledge of Timeways increases your experience gains when killing monste??rs and completing quests, increasing by completing Timewalking dungeons. Once fully upgraded, the buff will give you an additional 30% experience. Needless to say, this is definitely an ideal time to level alts.

Finally, a new mount is up for grabs for receiving the aforementioned buff each week. So essentially, player??s who complete four Timewalking dungeons each of the five weeks of the event will rec?eive the new mount titled Sandy Shalewing.

They say it’s “falling�in love because you eventually hit the ground. If a recent bump has you feeling vindictive, Yacht Club Games might have the catharsis for you. They’re hosting a Valentine’s Day event through the Steam version of Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon that will give you the opportunity to squash your ex like t?he horrible insect they are.

The idea is simple. Send in?? the name of the object of your derision via a Google Survey I’ll link below before February 13th. All of the names will be collected and dropped into and upcoming preview update. Then, on Valentine’s Day, the Beetos that spawn will be renamed with monikers from the list of ex-lovers. That’ll teach them to play games with your hear??t.

Here are the details:

1. Send us your ex’s first name via this Google Survey by 2/13!
2. We’ll input all of the submitted names into our upcoming Puzzler’s Pack DLC Early Preview update on Steam.
3. On Valentine’s Day (02/14/23), the squashing spree will begin!
4. This Steam-only event is all for fun, so we’ll remove all the names after the event. The event will officially end on 2/15/23!

The event is free, so long as you own Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon on Steam, so it’s the perfect time to get back at Chad for sleeping with your cousin at your grandfather’s funeral. Or ??whatever it is he did.

I don’t really have the need to squash any of my exes. They tend to range from, “well, that was unfortunat??e,�to, “I would ra?ther just never see them again.�However, my dating life was rather uneventful, so maybe you’ve got someone who deserves to be flattened.

Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon is available on PC, Mac, PS4, and Switch, but the Squash your Ex even??t is exclusive to the Steam v??ersion.

Stalk 'n' slasher Dead by Daylight is getting set to celebrate the suitably spooky Lunar New Year, and will do so via a new limited-time event, bringing with it new in-game decorations, a slew of limited cosmetic items, and brand new skins for its Resident Evil heroes Jill Valentine and Ada Wong.

The Resident Evil x LNY collection will give players the opportunity to bedeck Jill Valentine in her battlesuit, perhaps best remembered for its appearances in the Resident Evil Revelations series, while Ada Wong takes a trip back in time for her iconic split-legged cocktail dress and heels combo, which the sultry spy wore for her debut appearance in 1998's Resident Evil 2, and is easily the most iconic of her l?ooks to date.

Speaking of which, in addition to these new outfits, a new skin for killer "The Blight" will see it transform into the warped and tragic visage of Dr. William Birkin, the Umbrella scientist responsible for the creation of the devastating G-Virus, who ultimately succumbs to its own horrifying mutations. While most of the Lunar New Year cosmetics are time-limited, these three skins are permanent additions to the Dead by Daylight catalog.

Aside from the Resident Evil content, Dead by Daylight will also be celebrating the Lunar New Year with the new Moonlight Burrow event. This will see the realm decorated in creepy, rabbit-themed iconography, while affording players boosted Bloodpoints and themed rewards. Be sure to keep an eye out for the returning Red Envelopes, which will feature a variety of rare prizes and in-game bonuses. An indie advent calendar for Switch owners

Nintendo is ringing in t??he holidays with a special event spotlighting independent games. The Inside the House?? of Indies Holiday Event starts today and runs through this Friday, highlighting new and upcoming indie games headed for the Nintendo Switch.

Each day of this week, Nintendo will upload a new video at 9 a.m. PT. Each one will shine a light on updates, announcements, and news from ??Nintendo's indie partners.

For a good example of what to expect, today's Day 1 spotlight features two new games and two upcoming launches. First up are Floppy Knights, a deckbuilding tactics game with a very charming art style, and Mortal Shell, a grim Soul?s-alike, both making their way to Nintendo Switch today.

Those two are out now, but two more games were revealed for the Switch's future slate. One is a port of Pupperazzi, the adorable photo sim game about taking pictures of pups around town, arriving in early 2023. The other is a new game from Paratopic creators Arbitrary Metric, Roman Sands RE:Build. Set in a decrepit facility as the world ends, it has quite the laundry list of genres, including visual? novel, adventure, puzzle solving, h??orror, and survival simulation. Sounds right up my alley.

A holiday of indies

That's just day one for the House of Indies. But Nintendo has four more days of news lined up, running now through December 23. There's still quite a bit more to reveal, and at least anticipated game that's had a December window already set.

While it's a bit different from an Indie World Showcase or something, I kind of dig this model. Games get their own day to thrive, and each new video can be a little surprise. With lots of travel and hol??iday time in the near-future, I imagine a couple indie games to whi??le away the hours are a welcome surprise-drop for Switch owners too.

Sweet Thieves are made of these

A new Fall Guys event is rolling in on Thursday, bringing some more Assassin's Creed theming. Abstergo's Challenge adds some new objectives to complete for prizes, while Eivor and Odin roll into the Fall Guys Store.

Abstergo's Challenge kicks off on July 7, with a bunch of objectives themed around?? the game mode Sweet Thieves. This is the mode where one team plays invisible beans, trying to steal away candy, while the guardians of the candy try to grab and capture them.

Beating objectives like winning as a Thief or Guardian, as well as carrying enough candy and pressing buttons, gets you points in Abstergo's Challenge. Prizes include a title, pattern, and ?a shiny Apple of Eden-styled backpack.

Odin the All-Father and Eivor the Wolf-Kissed will also be available as costumes in the Store, at 1200 Show-Bucks apiece ?or 2000 for the bundle. These do cost cash, as opposed to the challenge cosmetics. Still, option's there if you want to round out your Ezio Auditore costume from the seasonal pass with some more modern assassins.

Stealth drop

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout launched into free-to-play, landing on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles, and Epic store in the process. Players have had some criticisms of the new monetization model.

It's also been a pretty good excuse to dip back into Fall Guys??, though. Despite sharing some criticisms about the new model, I've still enjoyed dipping back in and playing, as the physical comedy and antics of the ultimate knockout royale hasn't really faded for me. Free-to-play has made it easy to convince fri?ends to hop on and try it out, too.

I do wonder why so much Assassin's Creed stuff has been streaming into the game. It makes more sense than some other Ubisoft properties, I suppose; though I really woul?d love to? see a bean-shaped Sam Fisher.

Abstergo's Challenge will be live in Fall Guys from July 7 through 11.

An advent calendar, but with armor pieces and cosmetics

As everyone goes home for the holidays, it looks like you'll have reason to boot up the Xbox between annual festive traditions. 343 Industries announced the Winter Contingency event for Halo Infinite today??: a series of daily gifts just for logging on and playing.

Starting today, Dec. 21, and running through Dec. 30, there will be ten unique Holiday-themed rewards to acquire. Just log i??n and play a match of Arena or Big Team Battle. And while the rewards roll out in December, the event runs until J?an. 4. So if you miss a day or two, you can get right back on track later on.

It's essentially an advent calendar, but with Halo cosmetics. And the reward??s look pretty fun, including some festive peppermint colors and emblems.

It'll help tide you over until the Fracture: Tenrai event re-opens in the new year with its new progression. And with those new playlists adding in Slayer, SWAT, Fiesta, and FFA-specific modes, it'll be easy? to hop in for a quick match of Fiesta and snatch a festive co??smetic in the process.

Just make sure you set a reminder or something, because while there are a few days of leniency, the Halo Infinite ??Winter Contingency event only r??uns through Jan. 4, 2022.

Blindfolded Sekiro, a Slay the Spire run, and more

Charity speedrunning event Awesome Games Done Quick has finalized the schedule for its 2022 event. And it's a pretty solid, surprisingly mode?rn lineup filled with a lot of runs that seem like they'll make for excellent showcases.

??The event will run from Jan. 9, 2022 through Jan. 15. If you're new to Games Done Quick, runners will showcase their talents of getting through games in sur??prising ways as fast as possible. Demonstrations happen around the clock, and often categories will feature unique parameters or even competition, adding some extra fun.

Highlights in my eyes are definitely some of the stranger runs. I'm a big Slay the Spire fan, so a four-character unseeded run of the game sounds incredible; same goes for the Hades All Weapons Race and Risk of Rain 2 Any% runs. With a Returnal run on?? the schedule too, it's a good year for roguelite r?unning.

There's a surprising number of recent releases on the list this year, including Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Axiom Verge 2, Lost Judgement, and bonus game Resident Evil Village. It ??seems like runners have spent a lot of time already breaking down the newer games for sh?owcase-ready runs.

Some impressive exhibitions are on display as well, like The Centurion category for Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and a blindfolded Any% run of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I don't even know how you get that done. And I'm also a sucker for long RPG runs, so count me in for the five-hour estimate Final Fantasy XIII run on Tuesday morning.

Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 will once again be held online this year, for the health and safety of its staff and participants. And GDQ has, in my view, made an excellent jump to virtual events due to health concerns over the last year or so. Last year's event raised over $2.75 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. I'm eager to see how this year's ev?ent shapes up, too.

Game announcements will still roll out, though

Blizzard Entertainment has announced it won't be hosting a BlizzConline event early next ye?ar any more. The company has said it will be putting that energy into supporting its teams and progressing development of its games instead.

This news arrives as Activision Blizzard has been at the center of several investigations following a lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, alleging discrimination and a toxic workplace culture. Employees have organized letters and a walkout. Several Blizzard members have already departed the company, including top-level leadership like J. Allen Brack and the former Overwatch executive producer.

Some references to Blizzard employees within its own games have also been removed following some departures. The gun-toting cowboy of Overwatch was recently renamed to Cole Cassidy as part of these revisions.

In today's statement on BlizzConline, the company says that despite not hosting a BlizzCon event in Feb?ruary, it will still be making announcements and updates for its games. "We're proud of our teams and the progress they've made across our games," the statement reads. "We have a lot of exciting upcoming news and releases to share with you."

Blizzard also says it is taking some time to "reimagine" what Blizz??Con might look like in the future:

"Whatever the event looks like in the future, we also need to ensure that it feels as safe, welcoming, and inclusive as possible. We’re committed to contin?ual communication with our players, and we see BlizzCon playing a big role in that going forward. We’re excited about what we’ll do with the event when we revisit it in the future."

It's time for some fun, frights, and a whole lot of candy

Halloween is getting closer, and for the Guardians of Destiny 2, that means another Festival of the Lost. The festivities kick off today, and Bungie has revealed all that's coming to the Tower and beyo??nd as part of this ??year's celebration.

Starting today, Oct. 12, and running through Nov. 2, players wi???ll be able to participate in new activities and earn new cosmetics. A dinosaur theme is taking the lead this year, after the dinos took the lead over monsters in the voting earlier this year.

#TeamDino ??ornaments will be available in the Eververse store. A Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle is also up for grabs, and even more activities are available to complete for res??ources, too.

Haunted Sectors will take Guardians to Nessus and the Moon, with some creepy new enc??ounters to fight through. And the Book of the ?Forgotten waits for you to return its missing pages.

The Festival of the Lost is overlapping with the very-long current season of Destiny 2, Season of the Lost. This season is extended due to the upcoming expansion, The Witch Queen, getting pushed back a bit to February.

Regardless, it's been a pretty good season so far, with lots of interesting story hits and a good set-up for a big conflict to come when The Witch Queen arrives. Players will need to get ready to binge any previous Destiny 2 content they might not have got around to yet, as Bungie also recently confirmed that the Forsaken campaign would be headed into the content vault.

There will be an in-person audience, too

The Game Awards are returning this year, and? today they set a date, as well as some in-person plans. Ceremonies will get underway on Dec. 9?, 2021, live from Los Angeles.

No time's been set yet, but The Game Awards 2021 will be hosted in-person at?? the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, CA. The ev?ent will still stream live everywhere, for those who aren't in attendance.

The show was held online and without an in-person audience last year, due to health and safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, however,?? it sounds like festivities are back in some form.

Host Geoff Keighley tweeted that he's excited to be back to a "full-scale show"  for The Game Awards 2021, which includes having the Game Awards Orchestra live on stage again. The event will be invite-only, and the health and safety protocols f?or? the event will be revealed at a later date.

Of course, The Game Awards isn't just an awards show, but also a hub for lots of reveals, trailers, and surprises. Last year we got lots of trailers, capping the show off with a surprise teaser for a new Mass Effect. And we also saw Vin Diesel in an Ark game, some Dragon Age, and the reveal of a new Perfect Dark.

What will this year hold for the years to come in gaming? It's anyone's guess, though even just having the orchestra back and a little bit of pageantry does sound exciting. We'll see what's in store as we get closer to ??The Game Awards 2021 on Dec. 9.
