We knew Fall Guys content was heading to Fortnite's creative mode, but now a unique obstacle course looms over the island in Battle Royale, as the bumbling bean obstacle stages just dropped today. The crossover is ready to reward eager players with loot f?or ??their swift Bean parkouring skills.

Players will need to find Golden Bean statues on the island in order to get started. You'll then be whisked away from the murder and mayhem of Battle Royale for a brief run through the obstacle course. Conquer the courses as fast as possible to get better loot to take back to the island! Of course, once The Storm moves in, the course becomes off limits. Completing quests while running the obstacle course can also earn you a unique Fall Guys back bling and music track.

Looking the part - Fortnite characters get Bean makeovers

The cute thing about this is that your skin will be "Bean'd" when you visit the obstacle course. A large number of the Fortnite original characters have been given Bean forms to take into both this fun crossover, and the full Fall Guys islands you can visit elsewhere in Fortnite. These ope??rate similarly to the Lego versions of characters, with th??e results being extremely mixed.

Epic has also added a bunch of Fall Guys Islands that play more like traditional modes of Fall Guys. The team at Mediatonic Labs helped make these, similar to how Psionix helped make the Rocket Racing levels.

So, what's next for Fall Guys?

As for the future of Fall Guys at large, it's been an incredibly rough time for the team at Mediatonic. Publisher Epic Games laid off hundreds of employees in 2023, and while an Epic statement to Kotaku clarified the entire team at Mediatonic wasn'?t laid off, it's clear the studio was still hit hard.

Given the nature of both games are so compatible here, one would hope Epic values the team over at Mediatonic, and has more plans for the Fall Guys folks going forward.

Fortnite recently added Fall Guys content into its Battle Royale mode. An obstacle course looms over the snowy northeast corner of the map, ready to be tackled. Completi??ng several quests on this course will grant you some unique rewards, so gr??ab them before the event ends on August 15.

How to get started

When you dive out of the Battle Bus, you might be tempted to just glide over to the obstacle course. That won't work, however! You'll be rifted away immediately. To access the obstacle course, you'll need to find one of several Golden Bean st?atues around Classy Courts.

Only 8 people can be on the course at once. You can see how many are active by looking at the numbe??rs hovering over the statues. Once there's room, interact with the statue ??and you'll be teleported to the course.

Each quest and how to complete them

Fortunately, these quests aren't terribly difficult, though they might sound vague at first. There's some goals for completing them, grantin?g unique rewards for this event. Remember, when you're teleported to the island, you have 90 seconds to complete the course. The?? faster you do, the better your rewards.

Fortnite's Fall Guys collaboration event has officially arrived, and with it comes multiple obstacle courses in Creative Islands and Battle Royale mode. However, to access the course in BR mode, you'll need to find special statues known as Bean Idols, which only appear in a certain area. Hfere's how to find Bean Idols during the Fortnite X Fall Guys event.

Bean Idol locations in Fortnite X Fall Guys event

Bean Idols are golden statues that spawn exclusively in Classy Courts. As you exit the Battle Bus and glide toward this landmark, you'll spot the obstacle?? course in the sky, with light beams surrounding it. Each light shows the location of a Bean Idol.

If you're already on the ground in another region, you can run over toward the obstacle course and Fall Guys character ico??n on your map near Classy Courts. As you approach the area, you'll spot the lights in the sky, allowing you to find the statues and participate in the obstacle course.

What do Bean Idols do in the Fortnite X Fall Guys event?

Bean Idols are the key to participating in the Battle Royale version of the Fall Guys obstacle course. Once you interact with the statue, your character will turn into a Fall Guys bean. A timer will begin immediately after, giving you a limited time to complete the obstacle course to maxim?ize your rewards.

Although other players won't directly hurt you during it, they can sabotage your efforts and slow you down. You can also get caught in the Storm if you're unlucky with circle spawns, so keep an eye on your map and the Storm timer as you're running the? cour??se.

Your rewards after completing the Fall Guys obstacle course depend on your time. Earning gold will reward you with valuable, rare weapons and consumables, while lower tiers will give you more common items. Nonetheless, they're great prizes to claim as long as you don't get elimin??ated shortly after.

The Fortnite x Fall Guys collaboration has officially begun its first stages, with Fall Guys skins and maps available to explore. However, one way to play Fall Guys early before the v30.40 update on August 6 is by creating and playing maps through Fortnite's Creative mode.

How to play Fall Guys in Fortnite 30.30

Playing Fall Guys in Fortnite in v30.30 requires creating a Fall Guys island through the Unreal Editor (UEFN) or Creative mode. While UEFN is a PC-exclusive program that enables you to design Fortnite experiences, Creative is a mode directly in Fortnite that that allows you to create maps.

Generally speaking, playing Fall Guys through Creative is easier unless you're already familiar with UEFN. With that said, if you've never played Creative, you can access it by searching through the available modes in Fortnite, selecting it, and loading into the mode until you enter your wo?rld.

After entering your creative world's hub, you'll find a golden portal and a terminal. Interacting with this terminal lets you create and select new islands. Create a new island and select Fall Guys to se??e the list of starter islands. Choose any that look ?interesting before entering the golden portal to access your world.

Now, your character will look like a Fall Guys character, and you can play through premade?? obstacle courses. Alternatively, you can make your own using empty grids or modify the starter island to unleash your creativity.

As of now, this is the only way to play Fall Guys in Fortnite's 30.30 update. However, in 30.40, we'll see new additions to this collaboration, including the ability to play other people's Fall Guys island and cosmetics to fit the theme.

The Fortnite x Fall Guys collaboration officially begins on August 6, with a quick sneak peek already available in a particular mode. While this doesn't let you go all-out with playing through obstacle courses and completing quests, you can check out what your favorite skin looks like as a Fall Guys character even before this update releases.

How to use Fall Guys skins in Fortnite

The only way to get Fall Guys skins in Fortnite before the collaboration officially begins on August 6 is to make a Creative island. By heading into your Creative world, finding the island terminal next to the teleportation portal, and making a Fall Guys island, your regular skin will convert to a small bean-like character you'd find in Fall Guys.

Make sure you're specifically choosing a Fall Guys starte??r island when making your new world. Pic??king any other template will cause your regular character to spawn in.

The downside? You'll revert to normal once you swap back to Fortnite's Battle Royale or LEGO modes. In other words, this isn't a permanent chang??e, and it mainly serves as a way to have fun with the skins until the collaboration officially begins.

Nonetheless, even if you only keep the skin while on your island, you can use this to check out what your favorite skins look like as Fall Guys characters. For example, I was able to use my go-to character,?? Explorer Emilie, and see how she looks in this new form. You can do this with just about any skin to see how they change.

The Fall Guys and Final Fantasy XIV crossover is finally happening as part of the MMORPG's Patch 6.51, launching October 31. Players can participate in obstacle courses inspired by the free-to-play title within the Golden Sau??cer casino/theme park.

Initially announced in July, the crossover teased FFXIV characters crossing a bright obstacle course. Fall Guys, meanwhile was receiving skins from the critically acclaimed MMORPG. Outside the stills shown within the teaser, the details are light on the FFXIV side. That is still the case since the blog post ??announcing?? the patch tells fans to stay tuned for more details.

As of now, the crossover's webpage is also giving the same instructions, so hopefully, more details arrive soon. Based on the images shown, players will race others while avoiding various dangers and collaborate with others to collect gems. The Fall Guys influence is evident here, but the events have details from Final Fantasy titles.

The event tonally fits with what the Golden Saucer goes for, which is grand and extravagant fun for any attendees. In my experience playing Final Fantasy XIV, chucking players into an arena with dozens of others is something the casino would do. Plus Fall Guys is the perfect game to coll?aborate with on ?this event given that it's that title's premise.

It's unknown how long this event will go on, especially since the FFXIV skins in Fall Guys are no longer availabl??e. Hopefully, the courses live up to their potential enough for fans to sink more hours earning prizes in the casino.

The beans have new friends in Buzz and Woody, as these two characters arrive in a Fall Guys-Toy Story crossover this week. The official Twitter page announced the news on Monday??. Ep??ic Games has provided no specific timing. This comes shortly after the announcement of a price hike of the in-game currency Show-Bucks last week.

It seems likely that this Fall Guys Toy Story crossover may replace the current Fame Pass, which has Final Fantasy XIV characters run?ning around in this unusual battle royale. If you are reading this on Monday, you still have time to get the Fame Pass and unlock at least some of the characters like the Fat Chocobo.

According to Epic Games, the price of Show-Bucks will be going up on October 27 for the United States and other territories. For example, you'll need to pay $8.99 for 1,000 Show-Bucks. Thankfully, it seems like this Toy Story promotion could arrive before that timeframe.

The bump in Show-bucks also arrives in the wake of layoffs at parent company Epic Games. Last week, it cut 16% of its workforce, ar??ound 83??0 employees.

"For a while now, we've been spending way more money than we earn, investing in the next evolution of Epic and growing Fortnite as a metaverse-inspired ecosystem for creators," said Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney in an official blog post. "I had long been optimistic that we could power through this transition without layoffs, but in retrospect I?? se?e that this was unrealistic."

Epic Games and Disney have collaborated before

It hasn't been fully confirmed yet how these layoffs have affected the Mediatonic team. But the Fall Guys publisher Epic Games and Disney have collaborated many times. Fall Guys has previously featured characters from Encanto and The Jungle Book. In Fortnite, you can play as Star Wars heroes like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. We've also been able to shoot foes as Captain America and The Hulk in Fortnite.

Disney continues to keep Toy Story in the limelight. Back in June 2023, the kart racer Disney Speedstorm added Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and Bo Peep in its second season. That game currently has Aladdin characters you can unlock.

With all these crossovers, it makes you wonder if we'll hear more about the fifth Toy Story movie soon.

It seems like Fall Guys has been making the rounds lately. I mean, sure, the game has kind of been everywhere since it launched back in 2020. But its collaboration momentum certainly shows no signs of slowing down. So hot on the heels of Fall Guys coming to Final Fantasy XIV, we have official confirmation that the upcoming Super Bomberman R 2 will dip its hands into the Fall Guys pot as well.

These two franchises have certainly enjoyed a good relationship up to this point. After all, Super Bomberman R Online had already crossed over with Fall Guys in 2021. What makes this one a bit interesting, though, is that Super Bomberman R 2 will have the�guy from Fall Guys shortly after launch. It’ll arrive on September 14, to?? be specific. Call?ed the “Bean Bomber�here, you’ll be able to unlock the little fellow from the title’s in-game store.

The Bean will join a few other cameo characters that were previously pointed out by Destructoid’s own Zoey “corn chips are no place for a mighty warrior�Handley. These include the likes of Dracula and Princess Tomato, making Super Bomberman R 2 something of a crossover fest. Considering it’s ??hard to tell when and if we’ll ever see a lot of these classic Konami characters, I'll welcome these? small cameos when I can.

Super Bomberman R 2 will launch on PlayStation 5, ??PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 13. Those with physical copies can play the game a day earlier on September 12.

Yes, Final Fantasy XIV will have a two-way crossover with Fall Guys. Legendary director Yoshi-P of FFXIV and XVI fame recently took center stage at Final Fantasy Fest to announce the c??ollaboration least likely to appear on anyone's bingo card.

At first, it looks like the only thing these two games have in common is their status as multiplayer juggernauts, but the concept looks like great fun. While we still don't know the exact nature of the upcoming minigames, we know that we'll get to play as characters from Final Fantasy XIV as they try to make it through Fall Guys-like obstacle courses.

Eight Final Fantasy-inspired costumes are making their way into Fall Guys, as well as emotes, celebrations, and more. Ever wanted to look like a Fall Guys-ified Alisaie, Alphinaud, Goobue, Namazu, or just a simple Chocobo? You can get them all and more by acquiring the Warriors of Light ?Fame Pass on August 22.

We still don't have the release date for the Final Fantasy XIV Fall Guys-themed minigames. We just know some of them will be wa?iting for players in the Gold Saucer once the 6.5x patch series begins to roll out.

You can currently play FFXIV on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. It'll release for the Xbox Series X|S featuring crossplay in Spring 2024.

Fall Guys has always had a great lineup of themed costumes, from Sonic to Ratchet & Clank to Portal. Their newest collaboration with yet another fan-favorite franchise is dropping January 5, and this time fans will get an opportunity to don skins from one of the most beloved animated series of recent memory: Invincible. Skins for Mark, Omni-Man, and Atom Eve will be available for purchase in the Fall Guys store in collaboration with Skybound Games, so don't be surprised if you see some new super-friends soaring through your matches soon. Of course, Fall Guys is a family friend?ly game, so we won't be seeing quite as much blood and gore as we're used to from these characters.

Amazon Prime's acclaimed animated series Invincible is based on a comic series of the same name, written by Walking Dead comic author Robert Kirkman. Season one was a massive success when it dropped in 2021, even spawning a series of popular memes, and while we know another season is supposed to drop sometime this year, it's anyone's guess as to when we can expect it. Some fans are hoping that this Fall Guys collab means we'll be getting an update soon, and I'm certainly in ?that boat myself.

Fall Guys has also seen a resurgence since it went free-to-play last year, and rightfully so. I returned to the game recently after not having touched it since 2020, and it's probably even more fun than I remember due to all the new stages and content that they've added. My backlog has been keeping me plenty busy as of late, but Fall Guys is one of those games I know I'll be coming back to when my schedule clears up a bit. Certainly as a fan of the Invincible series, it'll be wo??rth logging on to see if I?? can't secure some of these new skins.

Mediatonic has launched one final event to round out the 2022 season of its madcap multiplayer title, Fall Guys �Now available on all platforms, the coming weekend will give Disney-lovin' beans the opportunity to bag three character skins pulled from the studio's excellent 2021 feature, Encanto.

Three members of the Madrigal family have received the ba?ttle royale bean treatment, namely the quirky Mirabel, the mysterious Uncle Bruno (complete with rat!), and, everybody's favorite, the mighty Luisa! In addition, a new Wearable allows players to don the Madrigal Miracle Candle �a symbol of pure love that is able to bestow seemingly impossible magic on t??he family's descendants. Just watch out for hot wax on the ol' noggin.

In addition to these four skins, players can also purchase two new emotes �featuring some sweet dance steps, as well as a selection of nicknames and nameplates. And woe b??etide anybody s?tanding in her way.

A list full of frustrating, chaotic fun

Fall Guys seems to have just caught the end of the battle royale trend, but it's easily one of the silliest and fun games to take on the genre. You and your friends all take on the role of a little bean-shaped creature and run the gauntlet of different obstacle courses akin to the slapstick fun of the classic American gameshow, Wipeout. Don't forget you can also dress y??our bean up in all kinds of?? goofy costumes to make your run all the more giggle-inducing.

Of course, as much as we all love Fall Guys, any game is going to get a bit stale after we play it for a certain number of hours. That's why we've compiled this list of awesome games to check out if you want to play Fall Guys, but you also don't want to play Fall Guys. In other words, here are seven games that are just like your favorite plat??former? battle royale game, but different, and also ranked.

7. It Takes Two

It Takes Two's gameplay has a much greater focus on cooperation than Fall Guys, but maybe this Game of the Year-winning co-op adventure game could be a nice way to make up after you sabotage a friend. The game might be a bit different than what you're used to if don't usually reach for on-rails, storytelling-centric titles, but it could be a good change of pace if you're up for it. You'll certainly still have to do plenty of platforming, and It Takes Two has a beautiful, colorful art style that should satisfy even the stuffiest of Fall Guys players �if such a thing even exists.

6. Among Us

The game that took the world by storm! Among Us is another great option if you're looking for some goofy fun with a social deduction twist. It would be the perfect time to jump in, as well, because the developers just announced a new game mode: Hide n Seek. Players have to complete tasks like usual, only the votes and decision-making have been removed to make for a more fast-paced experience, if that's your kind of thing. All you have to focus on is doing your tasks and staying alive, ??which kind of sounds similar to a particular platforming battle royale game, does it not?

5. Stick Fight

Do you ever think about those old-school stick figure animations from the golden days of the internet? Because I certainly do. Now you can take on the role of your very own stick figure and beat the crap out of your friends �that's what video games are all about, after all. Maybe you need a way to take on your friends after they threw you off of the Big Shots stage in Fall Guys, and the co-op fighting game Stick Fight absolutely has you covered.

4. Golf With Your Friends

As a lifelong mini-golf fan, I'm willing to admit that I'm partial to the sport �and that includes any silly, albeit unrealistic video game interpretations. Golf With Friends is the perfect title if you're looking for silly ways to sabotage your friends, an??d lets you do it in style. You can play with up to 12 players in a game, and with a grand total of 234 different holes to play on in 13 different themed courses, it's not likely you'll run out of games to play anytime soon. Just get eleven of your closest friends together, and try not to wail on each other with your proverbial putters.

3. Overcooked 2

Overcooked 2 is widely considered one of the best co-op party games ever made, and I'm inclined to agree. You and your friends will be thrown into the kitchen, and will make progressively more complicated food in progressively precarious situations. Want to see if you can make a delicious pasta dinner i?n a kitchen suspended by multiple hot air balloons? You've got it! Want to try your hand at making mouth-watering steak over a horrifying lava pit? This one's all you! Just make sure you don't take things too seriously, because this game? has threatened some of my friendships in a very real way.

2. Ultimate Chicken Horse

Ultimate Chicken Horse is one of my per??sonal favorite party games of all time. The premise is simple �you and up to three other friends play as a delightfully adorable barnyard animal, and have to reach the goal at the end of a platforming stage to progress. The catch is that you play each map repeatedly until only one player is left standing, and in between each round, players can choose an obstacle to add to the course. Things get really chaotic really fast, and its fostering of friendly trash talk and occasional self-sabotage makes for an awesome game you won't want to put down.

1. Gang Beasts

If you need something that's going to capture the same slapstick-y, ragdoll ridiculousness of Fall Guys, Gang Beasts is your best bet. This beat-em-up co-op title can be played with up to four players, where you e?nter arenas full of various hazards and attempt to take out your opponents.

Gang Beasts blew up a bit on YouTube's Let's Play scene in the lat??e 2010s, and it's been a friendship-threatening staple of parties ever since. As if that wasn't good enough, the game also still has that dress-up mechanic? that we all just can't get enough of, so you can don a silly hat or pair of glasses as your friend throws you into an industrial-grade grinder.

Another batch of recognizable beans are headed to the wild and madcap world of Mediatonic's battle royale release, Fall Guys �Following on from recent crossovers such as Doctor Who and Hatsune Miku, this new event sees the arrival of three legendary World Warriors of Capcom's Street Fighter franchise.

Three skins have been (bean?) made available to purchase in the Fall Guys in-game store, representing the stoic martial arts expert Ryu, his shadowy and demonic rival Akuma, and the British special forces agent Cammy �who has certainly been getting around in recent years. Yes, she's wearing pants again. Chill. Additionally, new nameplates replicating the classic Street Fighter II aesthetic are also available, as well as some fun "Hadoken" and "Shoryuken" emotes. ACKSHUALLY CAMMY DUSNT ?DO A HADOOKEN ACKSHUALLY.

If you fancy taking these famous scrappers for a spin in the Blunderdome, then move fas??t, as they will be removed from sale on November 30. While we can promise that you'll see your chosen fave playing fast and loose alongside their fellow beans, I'm afraid that performing Akuma's Wrath of the Raging Demon is, unfortunately, out of the question. Sorry, tryhards.

Legendary British sci-fi show Doctor Who is the latest franchise to get its bean on in the madcap world of Mediatonic's Fall Guys �The topsy-turvy battle roya?le title currently has a new range of cosmetic items up for grabs, all pulled from the time lord's great canon of chrono-crossing adventures.

Three of the fourteen Doctors are represented in this new event, immediately recognizable thanks to the quirky hero's penchant for fabulous fashions. We have the wild scarf and Autumnal style of the iconic Fourth Doctor, as portrayed by Tom Baker in the 1970s. Also available is the most recent incarnation of the character, the Thirte??enth Doctor, played in groundbreaking fashion by Jodie Whittaker since 2018.

As part of the new in-game event for Hatsune Miku "The Sound of the Future," players will be tasked with bagging glowsticks and spring onions as they battle their way through Fall Guys' typical?? 1 vs. 100 battle royale action. Mediatonic has revealed the newest collaboration for its madcap battle royale title Fall Guys �SNK superstars Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from hit slugfest The King of Fighters have had their finely tuned anatomies squished into bizarre bean form, and are coming to the free-to-play title this week.

Mai and Terry, who first found fame in the legendary one-on-one fighter Fatal Fury, have been faithfully recreated in their iconic wardrobe. Mai is rocking her notoriously revealing kunoichi gear while Terry?? is keeping the spirit of '91 alive in his denim jeans, sleeveless jacket, and famous baseball cap. I mean, they're certainly faithful recreations, but Good Lord they both look pretty durn weird.

WWE, a company that has absolutely no need to point eyes in other directions right now, has revealed that it is teaming up with two major video game brands for a pair of brand new in-game promotions, that will see its ring-rocking superstars feature in Epic Games' Fortnite, Psyonix' Rocket League, and Mediatonic's Fall Guys.

Battle royale juggernaut Fortnite will soon be welcoming the presence of one of the industry's biggest and most successful all-time stars: The Doctor of Thuganomics, John Cena. Cena will be dropping onto the landing zone on all platforms July 29, kitted out with his trademark jorts, inflatable finger melee tool, WWE title "Back Bling," and iconic "You Can't C Me" taunt. Unfortunately, it does not appear that playing as Cena will afford?? you the ability to hit your opponents with the Attitude Adjustment.

I ??expect Cena to be banned from online play almost immediately given his natural camouflage abilities.

For those of you who prefer your battle arts of the vehicular persuasion, then Rocket League is also currently feeling the pro-wrestling vibe. From July 28, players can purchase brand-new octane decals for their road rippers of choice. The two new designs are styled after the color schemes and shirt logos of both John Cena and the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

The WWE SummerSlam Octane Decal Bundle will retail for ?500 credits.

Finally, over in the cutesy bean-bashing world of Fall Guys, three new costumes are headed to the in-game store. These outfits are stylized after three top WWE stars: The video game-lovin' Xavier Woods, legendary deadman The Undertaker, and yer boy Moyse's favorite, Asuka. These three skins will be available to purchase within Fall Guys during this week's "Blundermania" promotion, ??which will ta??ke place between July 28 and August 1.

Refunds en route for affected accounts

Mediatonic has humbly announced that it has fixed a frustrating bug in its madcap battle royale release Fall Guys that was causing players to automatically spend ??in-game cash when visiting the game's store. The fix comes after the developer ?had previously denied that the bug was even in existence, suggesting that players were simply accidentally purchasing the cosmetic items themselves.

Reddit first complained about the bug before the weekend, with one user providing an example of how simply viewing items was instead causing the game to roll out the "Show Bucks." A Mediatonic support team member was quick to deny the problem, however, confidently telling the user that they had, indeed, purchased the items themselves and that no refunds would be issued. After some investigation, however, it seemed that the store was indeed ??bugged and auto-buying gear for hapless browsers.

Late on Friday, Mediatonic confirmed the bug's existence on Twitter and noted that it was working on an immediate fix. Smarting a little from the tone of the support team response, the developer noted that it would be issuing refunds for all in-store purchases that were made between the period of June 21-July 15, and would also be gifting all Fall Guys players the "Grandis" bean.

In a separate statement to news outlets (including VGC), Mediatonic noted that the original response to p?layers' complaints was "not acceptable." It's not uncommon for players to make in-game mistakes and blame the games themselves, so it's understandable that the support team might have thought that this was the case here. Unfortunately, the response's super passive-aggressive nature was certainly knee-jerk, given that a simple investigation was all that it took to confirm the issue with the store.

Fall Guys, which recently went free-to-play, is available now on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The colorful slapstick title recently hit an amazing milestone of 50 million total players.

Fall Guys proves it has legs

Fall Guys has been one of the most successful online games over the past few years, and for good reason. After the flood of battle royale games we got, it was a nice change of pace to have one that was a colorful, goofy platformer that we could play with friends. I know I certainly got swept up in it when it first came out, and had a blast trying something new even if I was terrible. Now, Fall Guys is seeing even more success, and I couldn't be happier that a creative and genuinely fun idea is getting the lov??e it deserves.

The official Fall Guys account tweeted this morning that the game has officially surpassed 50 million players! Exciting news for a game with such humble beginnings. If you're wondering why the game is just now garnering such a big player base, it's because Fall Guys just switched to a free-to-play model with battle passes and all that good stuff on June 21. The other significant change was t?hat it moved off of Steam? and onto the Epic Games Launcher, and was made available on Xbox and Nintendo Switch for the first time.

After the rerelease, Fall Guys garnered 20 million playe?rs in 48 hours, which is a pretty impressive feat for a game that's over two years old. Now it's more than doubled that after two weeks.

If nothing else, this scenario has proved that the free-to-play model can be pretty effective at getting players to try a new game, and because the outfits are such a fun part of Fall Guys, the battle pas??s system should work well for them. Here's hoping that? the game continues to stick around for a while, because every time I see clips of it, it just makes me happy.

I ??guess now is a better ti?me than any to jump back on the train, and try to claim a crown of my own once and for all.

Sweet Thieves are made of these

A new Fall Guys event is rolling in on Thursday, bringing some more Assassin's Creed theming. Abstergo's Challenge adds some new objectives to complete for prizes, while Eivor and Odin roll into the Fall Guys Store.

Abstergo's Challenge kicks off on July 7, with a bunch of objectives themed around the game mode Sweet Thiev?es. This is the mode w??here one team plays invisible beans, trying to steal away candy, while the guardians of the candy try to grab and capture them.

Beating objectives like winning as a Thief or Guardian, as well as carrying enough candy an??d pressing buttons, gets you points in Abstergo's Challenge. Prizes include a title, pattern, and a shiny Apple of Eden-styled backpack.

Odin the All-Father and Eivor the Wolf-Kissed will also be available as costumes in the Store, at 1200 Show-Bucks apiece or 2000 for the bundle. These do cost cash, as opposed to the challenge cosmetics. Still, option's ther?e if you want to round out your Ezio Auditore costume from the seasonal pass with some more modern assassins.

Stealth drop

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout launched into free-to-play, landing on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles, and Epic store in the process. Players have had some criticisms of the new monetization model.

It's also been a pretty good excuse to dip back into Fall Guys, though. Despite sharing some criticisms about the new model, I've still enjoyed dipping back in and playing, as the physical comedy and antics of the ultimate knockout royale hasn't really faded ?for me. Free-to-play has made it easy to convince friends to hop on and try it out, too.

I do wonder why so much Assassin's Creed stuff has been streaming into the game. It makes more sense than some other Ubisoft properties, I suppose; though I really would l??ove to see a bean-shaped Sam Fisher.

Fame and Kudos are touchy subjects

Multiplayer platformer royale Fall Guys went free-to-play last week, with its first free season and a new model launching across new and old platforms. A lot of players have been dipping back in, or jumping on for the first time. But some Fall Guys fans, especially long??-time players, seem frustrated with the changes made to its monetization model.

Prior to the free-to-play launch, Mediatonic's competitive game-show-style platformer Fall Guys was a one-time b??uy game. With the move to free-to-play, the model has shifted from using Crowns (wins). Now Crowns just go towards a separate, smaller cosmetic track.

The price of Fame

One major area of frustration is with Fame, the currency used to progress in the seasonal pass. It's similar to the battle pass model used by games like Fortnite. Fall Guys players ea?rn Fame for every match pla?yed, which then goes towards levelling up in the pass.

The move to free-to-play has caused some friction, as noted by Gamerant. Some users have discovered that the difference in Fame between finishing in a later stage or getting knocked out immediately is negligible, though. Some players suggest it might be faster to bl??ast through the pass by simply losing.

The frustrat?ion here's a bit understandable. I can say through my own playing over the last week, pass progression started out fast but felt like it slowed ??down the further I went. The challenges help, but the Dailies and Weeklies are limited.

Crowns are king

Winning also used to carry a more direct cosmetic boon than it does now, too. Where Crowns used to turn in??to spendable currency for cosmetics in the shop, they now just go towards a longer cosmetics reward track. Those are fun to unlock, with some golden nostalgia lying way, way d?own the line. But it also means that, coupled with Fame fall-offs, winning just doesn't carry the same bounty for some.

"Games aren’t fun if it feels like there are no rewards and Fall Guys is giving the players very little," said one user in a long analysis of the new systems.

Some tension was to be expected over adding more monetization into Fall Guys via the purchasable Show-Bucks (similar to Fortnite V-Bucks). But there seems to be frustration over not just one or two things, but several aspects of the new model.

I say all this, while I have been largely unaware and blissfully enjoying a return to Fall Guys. The shows introduced in some seasons between when I stopped playing and now are a blast, and the move to free-to-play has made it easy to convince friends to download and try it out. Mediatonic posted that it hit a 20-million player milestone ?within the first 48 hours of its ??first free season.

That's all in the short term, though. Mediatonic's new approach to Fall Guys could cause some long-term tension.

It seems as though slapstick battle royale title Fall Guys, (previously Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout), is pulling in the punters once again �developer Mediatonic has announced that the past weekend saw the madcap multiplayer game hit a dizzying high of 20 million players, following the release of the long-time-coming Nintendo Switch and Xbox ports as well as the unlocking of Fall Guys as a free-to-play title.

Originally released on PC and PlayStation back in 2020, Fall Guys quickly won over th??e hearts of players worldwide with its very silly but immensely ??compelling action. For the uninitiated, players take control of one of 60 individually controlled "beans" before competing against 59 other players in a series of fun games and challenges to be crowned the Last Bean Standing.

With simplistic controls and gameplay, a welcoming "game show" aesthetic, and an ever-growing wardrobe of silly costumes and accessories, Fall Guys enjoyed a staggeringl??y healthy launch period, befor??e tapering off somewhat in 2021, though it is still very easy to find a full lobby of players ready to rumble. By adding further console ports, and unlocking the paid entry to the title, Mediatonic has clearly given its smash-hit title a fresh shot of adrenaline, ready to delight and frustrate players all over again.

Falling, free falling

The frenetic platformer royale Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout goes free-to-play and adds some new platforms today. The Free For All season is live now, and Fall Guys is officially launched for Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles.

News of this update arrived last month, revealing Mediatonic's gameshow-style competition is coming to new platforms. With today's update, Fall Guys is now free to play on all platforms. It also has cross-play across all platforms, so the party doesn't stop when you swap over. Mediatonic also confirms in an FAQ that the new season makes Fall Guys cross-progression as well.

Today's update also marks the launch of the new Season Pass. Everyone gets access to 50 levels, while legacy players—those who bought Fall Guys when it first launched—get the whole thing free.

Grab a hold of the ledge

Some more updates are in store for Fall Guys today as well. Alongside the new cosmetics in the Season Pass, some new courses a??????????????????????????re being added. Hex-A-Ring, Volleyfall, Speed Circuit, Track Attack, Bounce Party, The Swiveller, and Blast Ball are all added in to the game.

An Auto Grab option is also available, letting players automatica??lly grab ledges. You can also now dive-grab Tails and Crowns, which is sure to make some of those protect-your-tail rounds more interesting. Voice Chat is also enabled in?? Parties.

One note is that while Steam owners will continue to be able to play Fall Guys and get all the updates, the platformer royale won't have a Steam store page anymore. Any new players picking up Fall Guys on PC today will need to play through the Epic Games Store.

With all the new cosmetics and courses, as well as cross-platform play, it really does seem like a good summer to get back into Fall Guys. Time to get my hot-dog s?uit out of the closet and chase some Crowns.

The 'big' update was pretty big after all

The platformer battle royale Fall Guys is making some big moves soon. Mediatonic announced today that Fall Guys is going free to play, headed to both Nintendo Switch and X?box, and teased a good deal more on the ho??rizon.

Today's teased "Big" update was a showcase of what's coming to the knockout fest on June 21. It starts with Fall Guys going fully free. While previously Fall Guys did require an up-front payment, now it will be free for everyone to download and play. Those who bought and played Fall Guys before June 21 will get a special Legacy Pack, with a stockpile of cosmetics and a free Season Pass for the fir?st new season.

Obstacle-dodging and physics competitions are coming to new platforms, too. The long-awaited Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions of Fall Guys debut on June 21, as well as an upgraded PlayStation 5 version and an Epic Games Store spot. The PC side has an addendum, though: new players will not be able to download and play Fall Guys on Steam anymore. Previous owners will still be able to access and get updates through Steam. It sounds similar to the way Rocket League's move to Epic went down. With Mediatonic under the Epic umbrella now, it makes some sense.

The news keeps coming, though. Season 1—it seems like Mediatonic is resetting the seasonal counter for the big expansion—also introduces the Season Pass. It's a bonus version of the free progression path that can be purchased with in-game currency Show-Bucks. It will be a 100-level pass, allowing players to unlock the next Season Pass if they max out the current one, and Fall Guys will s??till have a free progressio??n path. Kudos also carry over.

It's a free-for-all

Mediatonic also confirms in its FAQ about the update that Fall Guys will be cr??oss-play and cross-progression across all platforms. So if you're on PC and head over to Switch, you can carry over that progress. It will require making an Epic Games Account.

The studio recommends you log in on your original platform first, if you haven't played since Epic Games Accounts were introduced to Fall Guys. And it's totally possible; I'm a lapsed Fall Guy myself. But this new update sounds pretty rad, and that's before getting to all the new obstacles and costumes on the way. Plus, today's stream ended with a tease of what's to come: a course creator. The big Fall Guys update rolls out on June 21.

Something large is on the way for Fall Guys, it seems. Developer Mediatonic announced today that they're hosting a Fall Guys stream even?t on May 16, teasing it as "The Big Announcement."

The stream will take place on YouTube and Twitch, going live on May 16 at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

Mediatonic isn't saying anything else about it at this time, other than it's a "big" announcement. The studio has been teasing a bit on social media, but as far as ?concrete details go, we'll have to wait to know for sure.

...the harder they Fall Guys

There's room to speculate, of course, on what this Fall Guys stream may contain. The platformer royale has been gradually adding content ever since its first launch, with new seasons bringing new minigames ??and physi??cs-based mayhem to the party.

Mediatonic did PC and PlayStation cross-platform lobbies working in Fall Guys fairly recently. Alongside that news, the team also addressed the potential Xbox and Switch versions that have been floating around for some time. They were in the works and on the way, just not arriving with that update. A decent guess at a "big" announcement for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout would be the party platformer coming to Nintendo?? Switch and Xbox consol?es.

Or it could be yet another surprising, sometimes baffling crossover with a major property. If covering Fall Guys over the y??ears has taught me anything, it's expect the unexpected.

With that in mind, I'm just interested in hearing what the team's working on. There was a good summer where I was infatuated with Fall Guys and though the daily call has dissipated, it's still a game where I won't say no to playing a round or two. It's a novel concept that's worked really well with iteration, and I'm down f?or more excuses to get sent flying off platforms by giant malle?ts and obstacles.

The party just got bigger

The obstacle course-royale Fall Guys is bringing its platforms much closer together. Today, Mediatonic launched a new update that will let PC and PlayStation players play Fall Guys in full cross-platform lobbies.

While cross-platform play was previously possible in Fall Guys with Custom Shows, this new update expands it out to all playlists. This means you can now team up across platforms to compete in the online playlists, ranging from Squads and Duos to the classic Main Show??.

It works by linking your Epic account to the Fall Guys service. Once you're hooked in, anyone on your PlayStation, Epic, or Steam friends list should show up. You can find more info on linking the accounts here.

Today's update also comes with an update on the Xbox and Switch versions of Fall Guys. While it's still in the works, Mediatonic says i??t is coming—just not with this update.

There's also a new game type on the way, and this update adds a few fixes and patches too. Even after the summer of its breakout success, Fall Guys is still tumbling on with new content.

It's a bummer the extra platforms are still seemingly a ways off. In the meantime, though, at least the player base won't be so split across current platform lines. Cross-progression was already pretty handy, but full cross-platform Fall Guys parties are nice for those who don't want to download a game twice or swap co??nsoles around for a quick match with pals.

Criminy, that's weird looking

As part of 2021's ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog 30th anniversary celebrations, developer Mediatonic has announced that one of The Blue Blur's most famous friends, Knuckles will be making something of a cameo appearance in battle royale title Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

As depicted in the video below Knuckles �who made his first appearance in 1994's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 �will be getting a tribute skin, which will be made purchasable from the Fall Guys in-game store from November 12. The all-red ensemble features the famous dreads, steely glare, spiky gloves, and smirking grin on the high-'tude echidna, though I can't help but feel it looks pretty dang unnerving once applied to one of Fall Guys' many hapless "beans." Sonic the Hedgehog fans can bag the Knuckles skin in Fall Guys for 22,000 Kudos �that's 11K for the top half and 11K for the bottom half. I do feel that they've missed a trick by not adding the classic Sonic "Bwong!" jumping sound... N?o, that's not right... "Boooaw!"... No... "Buwoop!" That's closer. Eh, you all know what I'm talking about anyway. The Knuckles gear will be removed from the store on November 14, so interested parties Gotta Go Fast if they want to pick it up!

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is coming to the end of its fifth season, with a festive sixth season surely on the horizon. Available ??now on PlayStation and PC platforms, Nintendo Switch and Xbox ports are exp??ected at some point in the future.

A whole boatload of games

The virtual Gamescom is underway, as today Geoff Keighley hosted its Opening Night Live showcase for 2021. It was a pretty packed show that had its? own half-hour pre-show, featuring a slate of up?coming games.

There was a lot to see and unpack. This isn't an exhaustive list of everything that was announced today, but a rundown of some of the big topics, surprising reveals, and wacky moments that filled o??ver two hours of showcase.

The big news was a lot of release dates and windows for some major games. Halo Infinite's campaign and multiplayer was confirmed to be launching on Dec. 8, following a store leak and report saying as much. Horizon Forbidden West has been officially pushed back to February 18, 2022. And Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga locked in a spring 2022 window, alongside a charming trailer that took us thro??ugh the nine films.

As for new, never-before-seen games? The long-rumored Marvel-meets-tactics game from Firaxis premiered as Marvel's Midnight Suns. It's coming in March 2022, stars a custom commander?? of your own design, and most importantly, has a kickass Ghost Rider.

The new Saints Row also showed off both a cinematic trailer and some gameplay. It seems like a tonal reset for the series, taking things down from Saints Row IV to more in the area of Saints Row 2. You can check out some early impressions of it, alongside some extra details, in our preview here.

A new Outlast game, dubbed Outlast Trials, also showed off some gameplay in a new trailer and seemed like a pretty scary time. Something a little less terrifying to ease your mind: some Jungle Book skins are coming to Fall Guys! I did not see this coming whatsoever, but I'm kind of a fan of the big ol' Baloo suit. And if you've been playing Splitgate, the Halo-meets-Portal mash-up FPS, a new season launched today with a new map, battle pass, and game mode.

A few other games locked in release dates too, including martial arts action-brawler Sifu, set for Feb. 22, 2022, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge also got set for 2022 alongside a gameplay reveal of April O'Neil.

As for the near-future, dragon-riding game Century: Age of Ashes announced a Nov. 18 launch, Riders Republic is hosting an open beta, Call of Duty: Vanguard showed off some single-player gameplay, and Cult of the Lamb looks like an adorable barnyard hellscape. Looking forward to that one in 2022.

Plus, it's a great time for cameos, as Aloy's Genshin Impact debut was showcased, and Morgana from Persona 5 will be rolling into Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania. And all of that isn't even counting the pre-show, where King of Fighters XV was locked for a Feb. 17, 2022 release date and Dream Cycle, the new game from the creator of Tomb Raider, was revealed.

Knock out some in-game goals starting July 26 to unlock the Ratchet outfit

Besides the bouncy new jungle levels, one aspect of Fall Guys Season 5 that I've been wondering about was the so-called limited-time events with "short-d??uration challenges" that dole out unique rewards for players who earn points by completing in-game goals. We're getting our first taste of this new system with a sought-after Ratchet costume.

There's actually two costumes �one fo??r Ratchet (July 26 through August 1), one for Clank (August 6 through August 15) �and in both cases, players will need to check off objectives on their to-do list. The more points you earn, the more goodies you'll unlock.

For these events, there will be themed banners, patterns, and emotes based on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, as well as separate top and bottom costume pieces. Some example goals include div??ing 50 times, qualifying in a Survival round 10 times, earning Silver and Gold medals, and at the high end, winning a game of Duos (don't sweat it too much).

From the look of thi??s rewards page, the Ratchet costume should be within reach for many players, even with the one-week w??indow in mind. Unless you're busy, of course.

Unlike the normal Fall Guys seasonal battle pass structure, I can see t??he accelerated FOMO hook of these limited-time costumes really pushing me to ??get in there and play. As long as they're cool enough rewards, and the grind isn't too demanding, I'm okay with it.

At this point, I'm just going to expect that most if not all of ??the extra special crossover skins will surface in limited-time events. Can't say I blame 'em!

All that's missing is a snow cone and nachos

It's time for another Fall Guys check-in as "once or twice a season" players like me return to see what's been spruced up. Season 5's jungle theme wasn't what I had pictured, but in practice, Mediatonic has come up with neat levels that speak to my inner 3D plat?former fanatic. They'd feel at home in a bouncy water park, which is a perfect summer vibe.

There are six new rounds in Season 5 �a mix of obstacle-course races, slippery item-co?llecting, and even a maze finale that has some players complaining about bad luck.

I'll come right out and say it: the highlight has to be the lilypad "drums," which are a blast to bounce between. They're featured in multiple levels, but I like them best in Lily Leapers, a race with a lo??t of potential routes, some mo??re challenging (and quicker) than others.

A similar stage, Treetop Tumble, throws in frog obstacles that rhythmically ?inflate and defla??te just enough to keep you on your toes as you're tiptoeing across dodgy walkways.

Stompin' Ground is the wildcard level, and it feels fresh. It's a simple setup �you just need to steer clear of charging rhinos �yet it's trickier than it seems. Above all, I love ?the look of the padded mechanical beasts. The art team is flexing on this one, big time.

Circling back to my 3D platformer remark, I've got such a soft spot for Bubble Trouble. It's in the same spirit as the hoop-jumping games from prior seasons, but it feels better to collect/pop bubbles, and the balancing is just right. There's a nice risk-reward factor to sticking around one ar?ea until it's completely tapped out versus breaking off from the group ahead of time to a different zone right before a fresh set of bubbles is populated.

I've got a few clear favorites in Fall Guys Season 5, as ex??pected, but I am surprised that I don't outright hate any of the levels. There's usually one in the pack.

My least-liked round is Pegwin Pool Party, due to the finicky nature of these roaming critters. If you have a Mario Party mini-game that you always fumble �to a mystifying degree �you can relate. This one's a competition to grab and hold ??a pegwin for a certain amount of time, and the struggle is real. Is my d?epth perception really this poor?

The final round, Lost Temple, is divisive �but I feel like they all are, depending on who you ask. It's a maze with fakeout doors and plenty of opportunities to botch jumps along the way to the hilariously, infuriatingly slippery floating crown. Day one has been brutal to watch, and that goes for me too. It sounds like certain players enjoy the map in theory, they just don't like having so much of a "luck" factor in a final round. I? feel like that's the whole point! Some are bound to be more purely technical and skill-based than others.

You'll also find Duos and Trios in Season 5, though I opted to play solo this time.

As for seasonal outfits, skins, and other rewards in Season 5, there's a Guy Spelunky costume calling my name. You can get the Spelunky pants by leveling up your battle pass to tier 21, and the plump-nosed top will be unlocked at tier 26 ??�??so, not too bad.

I know myself well enough to know that I'll probably only check out Fall Guys Season 5 for one more session, if that, but I had a lot of fun with these levels today (even though I blew the finale twice). Can I stand to miss out on the Spelunky costume? Maybe, maybe not.

Even if you're down for just a casual run-through, at least give Lily Leapers ??a go.
