In Fields of Mistria, Saturday might be the best day of the week, because that’s when the Saturday Market comes to town and you have a chance to get your hands on items that you ca?n’t usually g??et.

The Saturday Market can also be incr??edibly helpful if you have request items to hand in, or simply?? want to get your daily conversation in with each villager, because everyone congregates in the middle of town to do some shopping.

How to unlock the Saturday Market in Fields of Mistria

Repaired bridge in Fields of Mistria

Before you can peruse the stalls of the Saturday Market and spend all of your Tesserae, you’ll need to repair the bridge. When you first begin a playthrough, the bridge that you hop over with Balor has been damaged i??n the recent earthquake, and without the bridge, the vendors for the Satu?rday Market can’t get into town.

The quest to repair the bridge will? arrive in the mail on ??Spring 3 of the first year, and you’ll need the following resources to complete it:

  • 60 Wood
  • 60 Stone

How many stalls are there at the Weekend Market?

Currently, there are four stalls at the Weekend Market in Fields of Mistria:

  • Merri’s furniture stall
  • Louisâ€?clothing stall
  • Vera’s hair salon
  • Darcy’s café

Items available at each stall will vary week on week and both Louisand Vera’s ??stalls will stop selling items once you’ve purchased everything that’s currently on offer. Darcy and Merri will continue selling their ready-made items, but they will stop selling recipes once all currently available ones have been purchased.

Will we get more vendors at the Saturday Market?

Future vendors at the Saturday Market in Fields of Mistria

According to the early access roadmap from NPC Studio, there will be more Saturday Market vendors coming to Mistria at some point in a f??uture update, but it?’s not been confirmed when this will happen.

It’s not due to ar??rive as part of the first planned major update, which is expected before the end of 2024, but it is included?? in the future update plan. There is some knowledge of who these vendors will be, but more information will become available closer to the time they’re added.

There are a lot of resources in Fields of Mistria, and a lot (though d??efinitely not all) of items can be purchased from one of the various vendors. The General Store is a great first place to look if you’re hunting for something.

There are two types of stock at the General Store, permanent and seasonal. Permanent stock includes furniture, tools, and ingredients, while seasonal stock is all of the seed?s that you can use to gr??ow crops on the Farm.

The stock displayed at the beginning of a playthrough is not the full list of items which can be purchased, as further stock is added after you upgrade the General Store as part of the main story quest “Repair the General Storeâ€?

Before you upgrade the Store, there are still a lot of items which can be purchased there. It’s where you’ll need ??to go to get basic tools, and the first seeds you need to ?start your farming business.

Ingredients

Ingredients are permanently in stock at the General Store regardless of the season. You’ll only really need to purchase these ingredients prior to repairing the Mill as part of the main story quests, but it’s still handy to be able to g??o back and get them if you’re running low on resources?? or are out of season to grow them.

Flour 200 Tesserae
Rice 200 Tesserae
Rock Salt 50 Tesserae

After repairing the General Store, only one f?urther in??gredient becomes available:

  • Honey (100 Tesserae)

Tools

If you’re looking for your first tools, or have made the mistake of thinking that your Shipping Bin is a storage chest like I did during my first playthrough, you can get t?hem from the General Store. Again, these are always in stock and have no seasonal li??mitations.

Note: You get the Worn Axe, Worn Pickaxe, and Worn Bug Net through completing quests. These currently cannot be purchased back if you accidentally sell them, so make sure to keep t?hem close to you at all times.

Item Cost
Worn Shovel 500 Tesserae
Worn Watering Can 150 Tesserae
Worn Hoe 150 Tesserae
Worn Sword 150 Tesserae

After you’ve repaired the Store, you’ll also be able to purchase the second Bag Upgrade, which will set you back 2,000 Tesserae.

Furniture

There are limited pieces of furniture available to purchas??e from many vendors, including the General Store, but most decorative items are crafted after unlocking the recipes. Regar?dless of the season, you can always purchase the following items at the General Store.

Item Cost
Potted Plant 100 Tesserae
Scarecrow 160 Tesserae
Wheelbarrow 200 Tesserae
Basic Wooden Chest 250 Tesserae

Whether you’re trying to complete the Fish Wing in the Museum, or get through the Earth Seal door, there’s one fish you’ll need to find in Fields of Mistria â€?Archerfish.

Thankfully, the Archerfish is a Mines fish, and that means that you don’t have any weather or seasonal restrictions when it comes to hunting it. Sadly, that doesn’t make it easier to find. As an uncommon fish, you’re lik??ely to be fishing for a while before you come across this little spitter.

For context, Archerfish are a very real fish which will hunt its insect prey by shooting a stream of water at them from beneath the surface. While Archerfish in Fields of Mistria aren’t about to start spitting at y??ou while you’re fishing, it’s a fun piece of trivia that I’ve never had an opportunity to share. And now you know.

How to catch an Archerfish in Fields of Mistria

Tide Caverns in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

To find an Archerfish, you’re going to have to first unlock the Mines, reach level 20, and unlock the Water Seal. This will give you access to Tide Caverns (Floors 21 - 40), which is precisely where you’ll need to?? be to catch an Archerfi??sh.

Archerfish have small shadows, but they’re not the only fish in the area with the same size shadow. The Sapphire Betta is another small fish caught in the Tide Caverns, and it is a common fish, so you’re likely to stock up on them while hunting for Archerfish. On the plus side, Sapphire Betta can also be donated to the Museum, can be given to Balor as a liked gift, and each one sells for 40?? Tesserae.??

To make it easier on yourself, make sure to unlock the following Perks at Caldarus' Statue when they become available:

Perk What it does Level Essence cost
Appealing Reeling Fish will become attracted to your bobber from further away 1 10
Perfect Catch Uncommon and rare fish become more common 15 40

How to use Archerfish in Fields of Mistria

The Earth Seal in Fields of Mistria

Outside of donation to the Museum, the only real use for an Archerfish is to make your way through the Earth Seal. This will provide access to Deep Earth (Floo?rs 41 - 60 of the Mines), allowing you to gather Silver Ore and Emeralds, as well ?as giving you the ability to catch more fish or bugs for the Museum.

If you’re a fan of chocolatey goodness and indulgence, then I’ve got good news for you. Fields of Mistria’s v0.11.6 update add??ed a new and gloriously decadent?? recipe to the game Chocolate Cake.

Although Chocolate Cake itself isn’t new to Mistria, having been sold at Darcy’s Stall and found in Treasure Chests previously, this is the first time that we ?can cook this tasty treat. This gooey, melt-in-the-middle dessert is a 3-star, level 20 recipe made in tier two Kitchens. It takes 40 minutes to cook, so make sure y?ou leave enough time between starting the preparation and the end of day at 2 a.m., lest you pass out in the cake mix.

How to get the Chocolate Cake recipe in Fields of Mistria

As with all things cakey in Fields of Mistria, the recipe for Chocolate Cake can be obtained from Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market. It’s among the most expensive recipes, and will set you back 400 Tesserae.

Remember,?? if you’ve not purchased all of the recipes on offer from Darcy’s Stall, you may have to wait a few weeks before Chocolate Cake shows up.

There are four necessary ingredients when it comes to making Chocolate C??ake, and they’re as you’d expect if you’ve ever made a cake in real life:

  • 1 Chocolate

    • Has a chance to appear at Balor’s Wagon for 200 Tesserae. As this is a fairly common ingredient, or otherwise liked gift, I advise that you stock up on Chocolate whenever it appears for sale.

  • 1 Flour

    • Produced at the Mill using 1 Wheat, or otherwise purchased at the General Store for 200 Tesserae
    • It’s possible for Flour to drop from any type of Treasure Chest

  • 1 Sugar

    • Produced at the Mill using 1 Sugarcane, or otherwise purchased at the General Store for 115 Tesserae
    • It’s possible for Sugar to drop from any type of Treasure Chest

  • 1 Egg

    • Dropped from female chickens
    • Can possibly be found for sale at Balor’s Wagon for 50 Tesserae
    • Possible reward after exchanging 10 Shiny Beads at the Chicken Statue

Is Chocolate Cake worth making in Fields of Mistria

March and Eiland in Fields of Mistria

Of all the new recipes, Chocolate Cake is possibly the most worthwhile. In terms of gifting, Eiland loves Chocolate Cake while March likes it?, so if you give them Chocolate Cake, you?’ll get 20 or 10 friendship points, respectively, at least.

Once baked, Chocolate Cake sells for at least 470 Tesserae, which is a pretty profit if you’ve grown your own ingredients. In terms of energy and health, Chocolate Cake will restore 110 of each when consumed, which is more than enough to get you through a few levels of the Mines in good shape.

Pan Fried Bream is a recipe that was added to Fields of Mistria in the v0.11.6 update, and unlike some of the other recipes, ?this one is very easy to cook from a relatively low level. Let’s look at where to get the recipe and ingredients.

Thankfully, you don’t have to grind very hard before you can cook this fish-based meal. Pan Fried Bream is a 1-star, level 2 recipe that can be cooked at any tier of Kitchen. It takes 20 minutes to p??repare.

The recipe for this fish dinner can be purchased at the Sleeping Dragon Inn for 150 Tesserae. As with all other recipes which are sold by vendors, you may need to buy up all of the recipes on offer before? this one shows up for ??sale.

All recipes that are sold at the Inn have an equal chance to show up on any day, so make sure to chec??k back daily if you’re looking for this recipe or any other particular one.

You’re only going to need two in?gredients to make this dish, and the main one can be found only in Summer:

  • 1 Bream

    • Found in Rivers during the Summer with no weather or time restrictions. Bream is a fish with a large shadow.

  • 1 Oil

    • Purchased for 60 Tesserae from either Balor’s Wagon or the General Store.
    • Can also drop from either Wooden or Copper Treasure Chests

The Mines in Fields of Mistria

Pan Fried Bream is definitely not the most popular gift in Fields of Mistria, but most villagers feel neutral about it, so you’ll get at least three friendship points with whoever you give it to. The exception to this is Hayden, who dislikes any fish or fish-based dishes.

When consumed, Pan-Fried Bream will restore only 24 energy and health, although this is still enough to save you if you’re in trouble down in the Mines. It sells for 80 Tesserae, which is a small p?rofit compared to the cost of Oil.

Iced Coffee isn’t new in Fields of Mistria, we’ve been able to buy it from Darcy’s Stall for a while. However, the recipe is now obtainable thanks to the v0.?11.6 update---here’s how to get it and how to make this chilly caffeinated drink.

Iced Coffee is a 2-star, level 10 cooking recipe that can be cooked at any tier of Kitchen, including the one ??in the Sleeping Dragon Inn. It takes 20 minutes to prepare, so avoid cooking it close to 2 a.m.

As with a lot of drink recipes, you’ll need to wait for Saturday to roll around if you want to unlock the Iced Coffee recipe because it’s sold at Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market for 300 Tessera??e.

Of course, this poses some problems, especially if you’ve not been buying up all the recipes she can carry. Make sure to buy ?all the recipes you see, but if this ??one doesn’t show up, you’ll need to wait for the next week. Restarting your game does not re-roll the recipes on offer.

There are three different ingredients required to make Iced Coffee??, only one of which requires a specific season:

  • 1 Ice Block

    • Foraged from around Mistria in the Winter. It’s usually found on the darker blue areas of ground around trees, and one spawns on the north bank of the river directly above the Farm.

  • 1 Milk

    • Dropped from female cows, or can otherwise be purchased from either the Sleeping Dragon Inn or Balor’s Wagon for 120 Tesserae.
    • You can also potentially get Milk after exchanging 10 Shiny Beads at the Chicken Statue, or from Wooden Treasure Chests.

  • 1 Coffee

    • Perhaps the most vital ingredient, you can get Coffee from either Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market, or from Balor’s Wagon, for 100 Tesserae
    • It’s also possible to get Coffee from Copper Treasure Chests

Reina and Ryis in Fields of Mistria

While it isn’t on any of the villagers loved gift lists, it is liked by both Reina and Ryis, so you can get at least 10 friendship points ??by giving it to them.

Outside of this, I??ced Coffee isn’t?? particularly useful when it comes to energy or health, only providing 10 of each when consumed. However, Iced Coffee will provide you with a speed boost if you drink it, so if the thought of hot Coffee doesn’t take your fancy, you could always substitute this chilled version. You could also sell it, as it sells for 105 Tesserae.

Jasmine Tea is not a new type of Tea to Fields of Mistria, as we’ve previously been able to purcha??se it from Darcy during the Saturday Market. However, the v0.11.6 update added the recipe into the game, so now you can make it yourself.

Jasmine Tea is a 1-star, level 8 recipe and can be made by interacting with any tier of Kitchen. It takes 20 minutes to prepare, so make sure you don’t run out of time and pass out at 2 a.m. Here’s how to get it and how to make this aromatic beverage in Fields of Mistria.

How to get the Jasmine Tea recipe in Fields of Mistria

The Jasmine Tea recipe is, perhaps unsurprisingly, obtained from Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market for 150 Tesserae. If you’ve not been buying up all of her available recipes, you m?ight have to wait a ??few weeks before Jasmine Tea appears.

Each recipe? sold by Darcy has an equal likelihood of appearing on any Saturday, and restarting the day does nothing to change which recipes are on offer, potentially making this one a little difficult to get your hands on.

Despite being a floral recipe, you’ll need?? to gather ingredients in two opposing seasons in order to? make Jasmine Tea:

  • 1 Tea

    • Grown on the Farm in Summer, with seeds being purchased from the General Store after it’s been upgraded for 150 Tesserae. It takes five days to mature and then reproduces every three days as long as it’s watered daily.

  • 1 Jasmine

    • Foraged around Mistria during Winter, or grown on the Farm during the same season. Jasmine Seeds can possibly drop while foraging wild Jasmine after unlocking the level 1 “Prepared Pickerâ€?Perk at Caldarusâ€?Statue.

Should you make Jasmine Tea in Fields of Mistria?

If you’re looking for a good gift for either?? Elsie or Josephine, Jasmine Tea is loved by both of them.

Outside of gifting, Jasmine Tea will sell for 185 Tesserae, and when consumed, will restore 34 health and stamina. While this isn’t groundbreaking, it will serve you well if you’re about to be knocked out by a Ore Clod or Enchantern down in the Mines.

As part of the v0.11.6 update in Fields of Mistria, a number of new recipes were added. One? of these recipes is Rosemary Garlic Noodles, which will come in handy as a gift for a couple of villagers.

Rosemary Garl??ic Noodles is the perfect Fall dish, made mostly with ingredients foraged or grown in Fall. Imagine dark evenings, a warm fireplace, and a lovely bowl of buttery noodles. Delicious.

The recipe for Rosemary Garlic Noodles can be purchased in the Sl??eeping Dragon Inn for 400 Tesserae, but you’ll need both luck and funds on your side, especially if you haven’t been purchasing the daily recipes which are sold ther??e.

All recipes available for purchase at the Inn have an equal chance to show up for sale on any day, so you may need to buy a lot of recipes ?before you come across the one for Rosemary Garlic Noodles. Once unlocked, the recipe is listed under the “Main Coursesâ€?section when interacting ?with a Kitchen.

Rosemary Garlic Noodles is a 3-star, level 20 recipe, and must be cooked at a tier two kitchen. It takes 40 minutes to cook one serving, so make sure you’ve got plenty of time ?to make it without passing out at 2 a.m. by the stove.

To make Rosemary Garl??ic Noodles, you’ll need to find or make four ingredients:

  • 1 Rosemary & 1 Garlic

    • Foraged around Mistria during Fall, or otherwise grown on your Farm during the same season. Seeds for each can possibly drop while foraging wild versions, after unlocking the level 1 “Prepared Pickerâ€?Perk at Calderusâ€?Statue.

  • 1 Noodles

    • Made at any Kitchen using 1 Flour, which can either be purchased from the General Store for 200 Tesserae or made at the Mill using 1 Wheat.

  • 1 Butter

    • Made at the Mill using 2 Milk, or can possibly be obtained from the Chicken Statue after exchanging 10 Shiny Beads.

If you’ve got all the ingredients, or you’re currently going through Fall, then Rosemary Garlic Noodles are an easy gift to give both Reina and Valen, as it’s included i?n both of their loved gifts.

Outside of this, Rosemary Garlic Noodles will restore 60 health and stamina when consumed. While this isn’t the most rewarding meal in that sense, it will prevent you from being knocked out in the Mines if you find yourself in trouble.

NPG Studio has been very generous with its updates to Fields of Mistria thus far during early access, and this week gives us w??hat might be the most exciting patch yet.

This isn’t the first major update that was promised in the early access roadmap, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t incredibly exciting things included in the v0.11.6 patch, with everything from new i?tems and recipes, to much-needed (and much-requested) quality of life improvements.

Although it’s not the most exciting of updates, and technically a small improve?ment, I’m most excited (and I know I’m not going to be alone in this) by the newly added ability to press and ??hold when it comes to purchasing multiples of the same items or crafting multiples of the same recipe. Gone are the days of furious, repeated clicking. Glorious.

Press and hold is a really nice improvement in Fields of Mistria

Quality of life updates

  • Robes and Coats subcategory has been added to the tops/body section in the Character Customization menu

Reina is one of the many future romanceable villagers in Fields of Mistria and, like al?l of them, she comes with her own likes and dislikes. Giving her gifts that she loves increases your friendship with her faster, while giving Reina hated gifts wonâ€??™t do you any favors.

Reina is the daughter of Josephine and Hemlock, older sister to both Maple and Luc, and can usually be found in or around the Sleeping Dragon Inn. She loves to cook, and is a rich source of recipes if you complete some of her Request Board quests

With her love of cooking, it should come as no surprise that Reina loves receiving food-based gifts. Most of Reina’s loved dishes can be cooked using gathered resources, so I’ll list their recipes below. However, if you get lucky, you can find the dishes for sale at the Sleeping Dragon Inn or Balor’s Wagon on any day.

While most of Reina’s liked gifts are still food-based items, there are some items here that req?uire no cooking at all. Liked gifts will provide 10 friendship points when given, or double that if given on a birthday, so if you can’t get your hands on any loved gifts, it is definitely worth giving a liked gift instead.

What not to give Reina in Fields of Mistria

Reina's reaction to a disliked gift in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you want to build a friendship or more with Reina, you’ll need to avoid giving her any of the universally disliked gifts in Fields of Mistria:

  • Junk items such as Fiber, Hay, Cattail, Acorn, Pinecone, Sod or Sap
  • Any bugs

As well as this, one thing that Reina really hates is a Tunnel Millipede, and I can’t say I blame her. Creepy crawl?ies aren’t the kind of gift I’d like to get, and Reina feels similarly. You won’t lose friendship points if you give one to her, but she will react with confusion and, in the case of Tunnel Millipedes, suggest that you save the bugs for her brother.

Once you’ve got animals on your farm in Fields of Mistria, it can get a bit confusing trying to tell them apart at a glance, especially when you’ve got? a few that are the same color. Thankfully, there are lots of different Animal Cosmeti??cs you can use to individualize the livestock.

Each type of animal has its own set of Cosmetics, and while some can be purchased at Hayden’s Shop on Sweetwater Farm, others are earned through breeding certain types of the animal?? or other gameplay. Seasonal variants each come with unique Cosmetic items, which can then be used for all other animals of the same type regardless of which tier that animal is.

Within the Mines of Fields of Mistria, there are a selection of forageable it?ems that can be used in cooking, handed into the museum, or used in quests. One of these items is Jade Dulse, but you’ll need to do some work before you can find it.

Jade Dulse is a green, seaweed-esque item that only spawns on floors 21 - 40 of the Mines, otherwise known as Tide Caverns. Before you can get there, you’ll need to unlock the Mines, descend down the first 20 floors, and then unlock the Water Seal.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to find Jade Dulse, but you might have a hard time tracking it down. It can be pretty elusive, but I’ve got a c??ouple of tips to help:

  • Start at floor 20 and repeatedly go down the floors in order to maximize your chances
  • Unlock the level 15 Cooking perk “Seasonedâ€?at Caldarusâ€?Statue, which increases the likelihood of finding uncommon or rare forageables

How to use Jade Dulse in Fields of Mistria

The main use for Jade Dulse is for unlocking the Earth Seal in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Earth Seal

It’s definitely worth seeking out Jade Dulse for a variety of reasons, but the main reason you’ll need to find it is in order to unlock the Earth Seal on floor 40 of the Mines. Along with the Jad?e Dulse, you’ll also need to ??find the following items on floors 21 - 40:

  • Coral Mantis
  • Sapphire
  • Archerfish

Museum

Jade Dulse is an item that can be donated to the Museum, and makes up part of the Ti??de Caverns Set. For completing this set, you’ll be rewarded with unique items.

Cooking

Jade Dulse is currently used in the following two recipes, although furt??her ?recipes requiring it may be added in future patches:

Meal Recipe Energy/Health return
Tide Salad 1Tide Lettuce
1 Sea Grapes
1 Underseaweed
1 Jade Dulse
76
Deep Sea Soup 1 Jade Dulse
1 Mines Mussels

There are a number of vendors in Fields of Mistria, and all of them come with a specific stock of goods. Balor has his Wagon, which is situated to the south ??of Mistria, and sells some usef?ul items.

The stock at Balor’s Wagon will change daily, so it’s always worth checking back each day. This is especially true near the beginning of a playthrough, as you could get lucky and find items needed for the Museum, and Balor even sells items outside of the season in which they would usually spa??wn.

There are five different tabs at Balor’s Wagon, each including a different type of item to be purchased.&nbs?p;

Syrups in Fields of Mistria a?re particularly useful when it comes to the Mines, and can be used to not only refill your health ??and stamina, but also give you some buffs. It's a good idea to keep a stack of these to hand at any moment.

How to get Syrups in Fields of Mistria

Valen's Clinic in Fields of Mistria

Syrups can be purchased at Valen’s Clinic for 500 Tesser?ae each, and there are five different syrups to choose from. Each Syrup has a different effect, so it’s worth knowing what each does.

Restorative Syrup

Restorative Syrup is dark green and described as tasting like Spearmint. When consumed, it provides you with 2 ??hours (in-game time) of health and stamina regeneration, providing you with approximately 5 of each stat every 10 in??-game minutes. This is particularly useful in the mines, when you have to worry about losing health to monsters.

Speedy Syrup

This Syrup is a dark orange color and apparently tastes like Oranges. When consumed, it provides you with a two hour (in-game time) speed boost. This is particularly useful when exploring the mines, lessening the time that you spend on each floor. It’s also useful when you’re trying to find particular bugs or fish, as it allows you to move between m??aps much more quickly.

Fairy Syrup

This Syrup is possibly the most useful of all when in the Mines, and if you plan to go down there at any point during the day, you should take this first thing in the morning. Fairy Syrup is pink in color, described as tasting like Strawberries, and will revive you if? you pass out down in the Mines. It doesn’t work if you pass out at 2 a.m., however.

Stamina Syrup

Stamina Syrup is bright green in color and apparently tastes like Peppermint. When consumed, Stamina Syrup will provide you with 100 Stamina. These are useful both inside and outside of the Mines, but it’s worth remembering that some recipes can provide much mor?e Stamina when cooked and eaten.

Healing Syrup

This Syrup is red in color and tastes like Cherry, according to the in-game description. When consumed, Healing Syrup will restore 100 points of Health. It’s always a good idea to take a stack ?of these down into the Mines with you, although there are some recipes which restore more health when consumed.

There are a lot of different ways to get recipes in Fields of Mistria, so you’re going to need to do a variety of diffe??rent in-game activities to fi??nd them all.

Recipes unlocked automatically

Bug Catching is a fairly underutilized aspect in a lot o?f farming simulators, but it’s pretty central in Fields of Mistria. There are a huge number of Bugs to be caught, and if you want to fill out the Insect Wing of the Museum, you’ll need to pick up a bug net.

On that subject, Bug Nets are the only tool that cannot be improved upon. Just in case you’re thinking about spending your precious Iron or Silver ingots to upgrade a Bug Net - don’t bother. The only change this will result in is an aesthetic one, and the Bug Net itself is no better or different from the Worn Bug Net you get from Luc at the beginning of a play?-through.

All season Bugs

There are a total of seven Bugs that can spawn during any season, so they’re arguably th?e easiest ??to find. Only one of these Bugs has any weather or time requirements:

  • Fuzzy Moth

    • Weather: Sun/Wind
    • Time: 8 p.m. - 2 a.m.

The rest of these Bugs can be found on the Beach at any time of the day and have no weather re??quirements:

  • Beach Hopper
  • Hermit Crab
  • Relic Crab
  • Sand Bug
  • Surf Beetle
  • Waterbug

Spring/Summer/Fall Bugs

There are ?10 Bugs which can spawn at any time outside of Winter, and half of them have s?pecific weather and time requirements.

Bug Location Weather Time
Lightning Dragonfly Narrows, Eastern Road Rain 6 a.m. - 8 p.m.

One of the best things about Fields of Mistria is the fact that you’re?? never short of something to do, a new challenge, or something to find. One of ?the things you’re going to be collecting a lot of while exploring is Bugs, and none are more rare than the five Legendary Bugs.

As with Legendary Fish, there is a specific Legendary Bug which spawns in each season. As well as this, th??ere’s one Legendary Bug which can spawn during Spring, Summer, or Fall, although that doesn’t make it easier to find.

Advice for catching Bugs in Fields of Mistria

Unlike with Fish, Bugs don’t tend to have specific locat??ions where they s?pawn. They can show up pretty much anywhere in the overworld of Mistria and you need to keep your eye out for them during times when their spawning conditions are met.

You also won’t get a notification at the start of the day if a Legendary Bug is making an appearance, so my overarching advice is to keep an eye out everywhere you go and make sure you explore the m??ap fully if a Bug's spawning conditions ha??ve been met.

The only piece of advice I can give you is that leaving and re-entering an area, either through moving to a different map or entering and exiting a building, will reset the Bugs (and Fish) in an area. You can a??lso try shaking trees for certain Bugs, although this is a bit hit and miss.

From day one of its early access release, Fields of Mistria has been prais?ed for its performance on Steam Deck??. Users reported from the moment the game was available to play that it ran seamlessly.

Now, three weeks into the life of the game, Fields of Mistria has achieved S?team Deck verification, so if you’ve been holding back on taking Mistria and its residents on the move with you due to lack of of??ficial backing, you’ve no longer got any excuses.

//twitter.com/FieldsofMistria/status/1826663890140164155

Thanks to this move, Fields of Mistria joins other cozy staples like Disney Dreamlight Valley, Stardew Valley, and Unpacking, which you can all take on the move with you. On the other hand, if you want? to play without moving at all, the Steam Deck is also ?perfect for that, as long as you keep it next to your bed.

Obtaining Steam Deck verification means that the game performs as well on the handheld as it does on any other PC at default settings. With Fields of Mistria being in the style that it is, you ?can expect it to run just as well on Steam Deck as? it does on any PC, regardless of settings.

On a personal note, this does prove problematic for me, as I recently said the fateful words “if Fields of Mistria? gets verified, I think I might need to get a Steam Deck Well, true to my word, it’s now on order, and I can’t wait?? to visit Mistria on the handheld.

There are a lot of fish to catch in Fields of Mistria, both in the overworld and in the Mines, and this can make things very difficult if you’re looking for a certain fish to com??plete a Museum collection or to complete a Request Board quest.

Thankfully, fish not only spawn in certain locations at certain times, but they all have specific shadow ?sizes, which can help to narrow down your search and avoid wasting stamina unnecessarily. For a select few fish, you’ll also need to be aware of the weather conditions in which they spawn.

??I know, it’s a lot to figure out, but let?’s break this down by season and location to make it easier.

To begin with, all fish will just look like dots of darkness in the water around you. However, once you start to fish more and figure out where each fish is found, you’ll begin to notice that there is a difference in the size?? of shadows.

Above, I've included a visual guide to help you better understand what I m??ean when I describe a fishes shadow siz?e.

Three weeks into its life in Early Access, Fields of Mistria is already getting a second patch in the shape?? of v0.11.5. This time, we??’re getting more updates based on community feedback and fixes for some particularly frustrating issues.

One of the biggest changes coming to Fields of Mistria in this patch is going to be a huge help to anyone whose Summer Forage Set at the Museum has thus far been incomplete because of the rarity of Sage. v0.11.5 has increased the spawn rate of Sag?e?, and it will now show up more commonly at the Beach during Summer.

The next exciting update is a fix for the villagers being MIA on Fridays. This glitch previously occurred after players completed all of the stories which took place during Friday Night at the Inn each week, and rendered Mistria a ghost town each week. Now, villagers will still be around?? on Fridays, whether you’ve completed the stories or not.

Other updates added to Fields of Mistria with patch v0.11.5

New items

  • Sunflower Seeds have been added to the General Store’s stock during Summer
  • Orange Crop Sign craftable furniture item has been added to the Fall Crop Sign Set

New features

  • “Pause Audio on Unfocusâ€?option has been added under Audio Settings

Bug fixes and QoL updates

  • Steam cloud saves are now working as intended
  • Placing a storage chest on a table and destroying it with an axe will now cause items to drop nearby instead of in the corner of the room
  • Pomegranate Crop Sign craftable furniture item is now properly listed in the Winter Crop Sign Set
  • Luc no longer makes bug-specific comments when receiving non-bug gifts
  • Game performance on rainy days and the following day has been improved
  • Horn color on sleeping female cow has been updated

Crash fixes

  • Inspecting items in your inventory no longer occasionally crashes the game
  • Sowing seeds no longer occasionally crashes the game
  • Collected items and notification pop-ups no longer occasionally crash the game

Patch v0.11.5 is live now, but y??ou may need to update your game via Steam if you've not restarted your game yet.

One of the most widely liked gifts in Fields of Mistria is one variety of Tea or another. Whether it’s with Lemon, Berries, or combined with Jasmine, a lot of villagers will appreciate getting it as a gift. But first, you need Te?a Leaves.

How to make or buy Tea in Fields of Mistria

To get Tea in Fields of Mistria, you’ve got a couple of choices, but neither of them?? can happen before you’ve upgraded the General Store and unlocked the full variety of seeds on offer. After doing this, not only will you be able to purchase Tea Seeds for 300 Tesserae from the General Store itself, but you’ll als?o be able to purchase grown Tea at Balor’s Wagon for 400 Tesserae as long as it is in stock.

If you choose to grow your own Tea, you’ll need to plant it in the Summer, and it will take five days to reach maturity before going on to produce one Tea per plant every three days. This Tea then se??lls for 135 Tesserae each, and can be used in a variety of different Tea based recipes.

There are currently five different types of Tea that can be made in a Kitchen in Fields of Mistria. If you’re lucky,?? you could possibly find any of these for sale in any of the fo??llowing locations:

  • The Sleeping Dragon Inn
  • Balor’s Wagon
  • Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market

Of all the villagers in Fields of Mistria, Hayden is perhap?s the most realistically suited to a love affair with your character. He owns the farm next door (you can combine acreage!), and, othe??r than his bizarre relationship with a chicken, he has few faults.

Of course at this point in Early Access, you can’t actually get very far with romancing Hayden, or anyone for that matter. However, you can give yourself a head start and get him to the current maximum heart level of four, ??preparing yourself to woo him when the time comes.

?As you might expect, Hayden loves to receive farm produce. Clearly, his animals aren’t performing as well as he’d like, as he's always happy to take what your animals provide.

Golden Animal Products will only drop from your animals once you reach a relationship of at least 8 hearts with them. You can possibly get them by giving 100 Shiny Beads to the Chicken Statue on Sweetwater Farm, though. Which is lucky, because Hayd??en is very close by if this happ??ens.

What not to give Hayden in Fields of Mistria

If ?you’re looking to befriend or woo Hayden, it’s a safe bet not to give him an??y of the following items:

  • Junk items, such as Hay, Sod, Clay, or Peat
  • Any bugs (although he will ask if you meant to give them to Henrietta)
  • Any Fish or dishes made with them (Fish are friends, not food!)

Hayden also particularly hates receiving a Sushi Platter. Apparently, this one in particular ?is worse than any of the other fish dishes you could possibly give him.

Like many farming simulators, fishing is one of the quickest ways to earn money in Fields of Mistria. It also helps you establish your collection finds for the museum and knock off a few tasks for the villagers. So, if you want a complete guide to Field of Mistria's fishing, we'll?? div?e into all fish types and their locations.

All fish types and where to find them in Fields of Mistria

After you've obtained the Worn Fishing Rod, you can start your fishing ventures at the Beach, the Mines, and the many bodies of water in Mistria. Cast your line when there's a shadow ??of a fish in the water, and hois??t it up once the '!' marker appears. There will also be diving spots and schools of fish to diversify your capturing techniques. No bait is required to do this, but you must have enough stamina to cast the line or dive.

Fish discovered in The Mines don't involve any specific season, but they will require you to unlock various seals for the higher tiers. Check out our Earth and Water Seals to access these locked areas in Fields of Mistria.

The Legendary fish brings even more challenges, as it mandates a Level 30 fishing level. Speak to Caldurus to obtain a unique perk for this and gradually rise up the ranks. I suggest acquiring the Appealing Reeling perk first in Tier 1, as it helps lure the critters to your bobber more ??quickly. The better the rarity, the more money you'll get ??????????????????????????from this diverse lineup of fish.

Whether you’re aiming to fill out the collections of the Museum in Fields of Mistria or want to cook one of the many recipes available, you’re going to need a sizable stash ??of forageables from every season. They’re not all easy to find,?? but don’t worry, I’ve tracked them all down.

There’s a very long list of forageables in Fields of Mistria, and each will only appear in certain seasons, with some even spawning in particular locations. With that in mind, I’m going to split this guide into seasons ?and go through how to get each forageable and whether ??or not you’ll need to give one to the Museum.

How to find all forageables in Fields of Mistria

Non season-specific forageables in Fields of Mistria

There are a few forageables that can be obtained in the Overworld of Mistria either all year or in every season outside of Winter. These ??are a??mong the easiest items to find, and you can build up a hefty hoard very quickly.

This doesn’t include forageables found in the Mines, which I’ll g??o over later. None of these items need to be donated to the Museum.

Forageable How to get Spawn seasons

Spring forageables in Fields of Mistria

There are a total of 17 forageables to find, which only spawn in Spring, and although not?? all of them need to be donated to the Museum as part ??of a collection, it’s a good idea to keep a stock of each for crafting or cooking purposes.

If you’re hoping to complete all of the collections of the Museum in Fields of Mistria, you’re going to have to find a lot of items. For the fish wing, these items are (unsurprisingly) fish, and they all have thei?r own requirements which must be fulfilled in order to catch them.

Some fish are harder to catch then others, and those inside the Mines can prove to be particularly evasive. Thankfully, there ar??e few things you can do to improve your chances of?? finding them all, including the Stone Loach.

How to catch a Stone Loach in Fields of Mistria

The Upper Mines in Fields of Mistria

The Stone Loach is a fish which can be located in the Upper Mines (F??loors 1 - 20). If you’re looking for a Stone Loach, you’ll need to find a medium sized shadow,? but sometimes it just isn’t that simple, and even the basic layout of the Mines themselves can make things complicated.

There are limited water pools within the Mines,? especially on the first 2??0 Floors, and they’re all relatively small. Fish within these pools can often disappear under the cavern walls, and this makes it difficult to attract them to your bobber.

To make ?catching a Stone Loach (or any fish in the Mines) easier, I have some tips:

  • Make sure that all of the monsters on the floor are defeated before starting to fish

    • If you’re attacked while fishing in the Mines, your cast will be interrupted and the fish will get spooked and swim away

  • Unlock the level 1 Fishing Perk ‘Appealing Reelingâ€?using 10 Essence at Caldarusâ€?Statue

    • This increases the range from which fish will be attracted to your bobber, making it easier to match fish even from a distance

  • Unlock the level 15 Fishing perk ‘Perfect Catchâ€?using 40 Essence at Caldarusâ€?Statue

    • This makes both uncommon and rare fish more likely to spawn, which is perfect for the apparently uncommon Stone Loach

  • Always start at level 1 of the Mines and repeatedly go down the floors

    • This will improve your chances of finding water sources, and therefore possible chances for a Stone Loach to spawn

Outside of handing a Stone Loach into the Museum in order to complete the Upper Mines Fish Set collection, you’ll also need one to complete the main story quest “The Water Tabletand unlock the Water Seal. This will allow you to de?scend further into the mines, unlocking Tide Caverns.

The latest farming simulator to hit the scene, Fields of Mistria, has taken the cozy corner of the gaming world by storm since its release into Earl??y Access on August 5. I could rave for days about it, but one tin?y yet important detail excites me the most.

If you’ve taken the time to look at Field of Mistria’s credits or followed NPC Studios on the developmental journey to release, you will no doubt know the names of the game's co-directors, Claire Belton and Andrew Duff. When I first saw their names a couple of years ago, I vaguely recognized them yet couldn’t quite place where I knew them from. But, while perusing the credits for Fields of Mistria, it hit me.

Screenshots by Destructoid

Back in 2010, there was a website called Everyday Cute, one which I used ?to frequent. As part of this website, Claire Belton and Andrew Duff created a character for a comic strip, and I’m sure this particular kitty cat needs no introduction:

Image via Pusheen.com

That’s right, Claire Belton and Andrew Duff, the Co-Directors of Field of Mistria, are also responsible for the globally recognized and adorably chonky cat, Pusheen. Assuming that there isn’t a strangely similar duo out there who share the same names and apparent hair colors according to their icons on the Team page of the Fields of Mistria website, they’re also behind Fields of Mistria.

Now, I don’t know about you, but this definitely cleared up a couple of things in my mind. First and foremost, how incredibly good Fields of Mistria is, especially given its Early Access status. Second, I knew that my Capybara?? was a familiar shape. There’s even a Yuzu hat that you?? can equip on yours!

Capybara in Fields of Mistria wearing a Yuzu hat, a well known thing in the world of Pusheen
Screenshot by Destructoid

Pusheen has been a recognizable character to me for almost half of my life, and even my four-year-old is a fan, with plushies of Pusheen littering her bedroom floor as we speak. It’s a testament to Fields of Mistria that it has been so successful already, without leaning on the co-directors' previous experience and creations, but Fields of Mistria is excellent in its own right.

However, this does bring forth one question - why aren’t there any cats in Fields of Mistria? Well, according to the Early Access roadmap,?? pets will be coming at some point, although they’re unlikely to appear as part of the first major patch planned to be implemented before the end of the? year.

?Whenever they arrive, I know exactly what I’m going to be calling my far??m cat!

One of the best aspects of Fields of Mistria is all of the co??ntent provided by Museum don??ations. There’s always something to find or aim for, so you’re never left hunting for something to do.

Fields of Mistria has been out in Early Access for less than two weeks, and the devs at NPC Studios have already been hard at work. On August 15, Fields of Mistria rec?eived its first patch, addressing p?esky bugs and delivering some updates based on community feedback.

If you’ve ever lost track of time decorating your farmhouse and passed out, only to wake up in the void of black space the next morning, then this patch is going to come as a relief to you---and for those who managed to accidentally put their Worn Tools in a Shipping Bin and have been stuck without tools, you’ll be happy to? know that this update also fixes that issue and many more.

It’s worth noting that this is not an update intended to bring more features to the game, such as those mentioned in the Early Access roadmap. This is a bug fixing patch, although the?re are some small features thrown in for good measure.

There is a known issue regarding Steam Cloud Saves, which is causing invalid save files. In the patch notes, NPC Studios suggests ?turning off the Cloud Saves option and playing the game on the original device it was downloaded on to circumvent the issue while they actively seek to fix the root cause.
