Fields of Mistria was an unexpected hit when it was released into early access in June 2024, and it’s already benef?ited from a major update in December of the same year. Now, barely two weeks into 2025, NPC Studio has shared a refreshed roadmap for the coming year, including the second major update.

The feature-packed update is set to drop at some point in March, although an exact date is not known at this time. ??It’s filled with fan-requested elements a?nd expansions to established gameplay mechanics that players have been waiting for.

One of the most exciting things set to change in the March update is that Calderus will no longer be only accessed via his statue on the farm, but will instead become ?a fully fledged villager in his? own right. There’s no telling what his story will be as of yet, but many fans are excited to find out.

A new seal, the Fire Seal, will be added to the Mines, gaining access to an additional 20 floors to explore. Of course, this new biome will come with new monsters to tackle, but th?ere will also be new resources? and loot to grab as you progress further down into the earth.

Have you noticed the blocked off area in the far north of The Eastern Road? Well, this is the entrance to the Deep Woods, and players will get the chance to unlock the path to this new area as part of the update. It’s likely that this will be done by completi??ng the new town ?upgrade quest that’s also being added. You can see a wizard’s tower in the distance from The Summit - are we finally going to get a chance to visit our mysterious neighbor?

Along with all of these exciting new features, there’s a whole host of o?ther tweaks and updated included in the March update:

  • Villagers and Romance

    • New “Elsie Gossipâ€?mechanic, which will apparently give gift hints
    • Additional dialogue for NPCs and schedule updates

  • Mines and Dungeons

    • A brand new spell that will likely help with survival in the new biome of the Mines

  • Town and Renown

    • Renown level cap will increase by 20 levels
    • Additional requests added to the Request Board
    • Additional museum sets and rewards
    • New festival

  • Skills and Perks

    • Additional Tier 4 Skill Perks

  • Customization and Cosmetics

    • Players will get the chance to expand their farm, opening up more room for animals, crops, and decorations
    • New furniture and decor sets will be added
    • New cosmetics for both the player as well as animals

  • Miscellaneous updates

    • Players will now be able to have pets
    • Sprinklers will be added (Honestly, this might be the most exciting thing about the March update)
    • Auto-petter mechanic will be added
    • Players will have the choice to adjust time progression to their preferences
    • Performance optimization

What’s coming to Fields of Mistria in the future?

With Fields of Mistria set to leave earl?y access at some point in 2025, there’s still time for further updates past the one promised in March. Included as part of the roadmap, NPC Studio also gave some insight about what we can expect as we move forward through the year.

The list is as you’d expect and can be seen alongside the March update in the image above, but the most exciting thing is definitely the increase in NPC heart caps and the ability to marry and then have children with your chosen spouse. It’s unclear whether the spouse will mov?e into the farmhouse, although it’s?? likely.

More fest??ivals are also set to be added, as expected, and new Saturday Market vendors are coming too, although who they’ll be is already well-known by many players. For the sake of those who are unaware, I’ll not go into details. You’re welcome.

It’s safe to say that Fields of Mistria is firmly nestled within the hearts of cozy gamers everywhere? at this point, and if updates keep coming as regularly?? as they currently do, it’s likely to only be further cemented as a staple of the genre.

Whether you want to start life over on a run-down fa??rm or you want a new challenge to absorb all of your spare time, there’s never a shortage of cozy games ready and waiting to distract you from reality. 2025 is set to be a big year for the genre, with a myriad of announced titles set to release.

Although games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing served to propel the cozy gaming genre to a huge number of new players, the genre has been around for far longer. Some would pinpoint the birth of ?cozy games with Little Computer People, released for multiple platforms in ?1985. We’ve come a long way since then, but cozy games are still a firm favorite for many.

Many cozy titles are set to release this year, make their way to new platforms, or leave early access behind. As something of a cozy ??gamer myself, here are 15 that I’m looking forward to getting into.

Kitori Academy

Kitori Academy is coming in 2025
Image via Cubenary

Although there is no set release date for Kitori Academy yet, and the Kickstarter page still suggests?? that the game should have been fully released in 2023, all signs point to this magical cozy game being released at some point in 2025. Of course, that’s not set?? in stone, but the gorgeous art style and promising concept of the game are hard not to be hopeful about.

In Kitori Academy, you tak?e on the role of a wizard apprentice who attends the academy alongside their pet cat. If you’ve ever wanted to head off to Hogwarts, this will definitely appeal to you. Not only can you train in the arts of potion brewing and spellcasting with an aim to tackle the curse that threatens the land, but you can also grow vegetables and build relationships with those around you.

Discounty

Discounty is coming in 2025
Image via Crinkle Cut Games

Discounty is what would happen if Jojamart wer?e in charge of Stardew Valley. Rather than trying to save the town from a money-hungry? conglomerate, Discounty will give you control over the local town store and hand you the power to pour contamination into the water stream. Or, you could take the other, more honorable route, but that’s been done before, right?

There are plenty of townsfolk to make friends with in Blomkest or turn into enemies if you disturb the peace of the quiet? town by growing your business too rapidly. You get to pick your stock, set the prices, and make trade deals to thrive one way or another. Essentially, you get to become Pierre, and that’s weirdly appealing.

We Harvest Shadows

We Harvest Shadows is coming in 2025
Image via David Wehle

Admittedly, We Harvest Shadows can only be described as ‘cozyif you ignore the large number of horror elements at play, but there are some who find relaxation in creepy surroundings. The game takes inspiration from the te??rrifying folklore surrounding the Appalachian mountains. You know the ones “if you hear someone calling your name, no, you didn’t

But that’s just one side of We Harvest Shadows. The cozy elements come in the form of farming, fixing up your house, looking after your animals, and gett??ing to know those who live in the area surrounding the farm. There’s a hu??ge focus on slow-burn storytelling, rather than throwing you in at the deep end with pure horror and jump scares, so you can take your time enjoying the cozy before giving yourself nightmares.

Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria will leave early access in 2025
Screenshot by Destructoid

Fields of Mistria is technically already available to play and has been since it entered Early Access in August 2024. There’s already so much to do, including over 40 hours of gameplay and endless customization, never mind all of the friends you can make along the way. However, it is set to leave early acc??ess behind at some point during 2025, fully packed with features that currently aren’t implemented.

According to the roadmap, more levels are set to be added to the Mines, new NPCs are due to arrive, and many new items are likely to arrive, too. I’m very much a fan of Fields of Mistria, and those who have pla?yed it already have fallen in love with the world and the people in it. It’s easy to lose hours while playing, and it’s worth diving in whenever you’re ready.

Solarpunk

Solarpunk is coming in 2025
Image via Rokaplay

If you’re looking for a cozy game with space to drag your friends along for the ride, Solarpunk might be it, although it’s perfect if you want?? to do some solo gaming as well. It is a survival game with an emphasis on rebuilding and thriving on futuristic floating islands, although there’s a huge amount of cottagecore goodness to be found even in the technologically advanced setting.

While the game will center around building up a farmstead using farming, crafting, and gathering skills and harnessing natural energy to power it all, there’s also an exploration element to Solarpunk. Eventually, you’ll be able to build a private airship, facilitating travel to islands further afield so that you can gather resources and materia??ls or make new friends along the way.

Witchbrook

Witchbrook is coming in 2025
Image via Chucklefish

2025 might be the year of magic-based cozy games, with Witchbrook being the second on this list based in the more fantastical realm. With instantly familiar graphics and an emphasis on friendship building, Witchbrook has all of the elements that point to success and is definitely worth keeping an eye on as we g??et closer to releas?e day.

Once again, you enroll at a College of Witchcraft to learn everything there is to know about magic, but that’s not all there is to Witchbrook. You’ll be able to cook, grow plants, forage, and even soar through the skies on a broom. Eventually, you move on to postgr??aduate studies and take on deliveries for the locals, allowing you to build friendships or roma??ntic relationships with those both inside and outside of the college walls.

While Waiting

While Waiting is coming in 2025
Image via Optillusion

Sometimes, it can be hard to sit back and watch the world around you without any input, but While Waiting? is a cozy game that aims to challenge the control freak in all of us, no matter how big or small that part of us may be. The game even comes with a warning that it might get boring at times, but that’s not?? necessarily the case.

While the aim of Just Waiting is overwhelmingly simple just wait there is no shortage of things to do or experienc?e while you do. I mean, yes, you might technically be waiting for a bus or for the rain to stop, and nothing you do will make that waiting time go any quicker, but there’s still a lot to interac?t with in each scene and many puzzles to figure out to complete objectives.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Hello Kitty Island Adventure will release on Steam and Switch in 2025
Image via Sunblink

I know that Hello Kitty Island Adventure was first released in 2023, but thanks to the exclusive availability on only the Apple Arcade,?? many people have never had the chance to play. Now, it’s coming to both Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, opening up? the Sanrio world to a whole new influx of players.

With all of the most well-loved Sanrio characters (including Gudetama, a fact that makes my heart sing), Hello Kitty Island Adventure has won a long list of rewards for gameplay and design. There are 80 quests to complete, many friends to?? make, crafting and gathering to be done, and all of it in Sanrio’s telltale kawaii style.

Ritual of Raven

Ritual of Raven is coming in 2025
Image via Spellgarden Games

Ritual of Raven isn’t the first cozy game from Spellgarden Games, but it is their first foray into the world of farming sims. You might be familiar with its previous cozy gem, Sticky Business, and the now familiar art style has been transformed into a lively, story-based life sim that revolves around gro??wing herbs in a magical world while accompanied by your trusty raven.

Not only can you cultivate your herb garden with the power of magic, but you can also truly personalize your space with decorations. A few friendly neighbors are waiting to form friendships with you, and you can even learn how to control the phases of the moon in your own self-interest. Ritual of Raven has been on my radar since it was announced in August?? 2024, and I can’t wait to dive in and play.

Outbound

Outbound is coming in 2025
Image via Square Glade Games

In Outbound, you’re in control of a camper van with a huge map to explore, materials to be scavenged, and endless customization options as you turn the camper van into your own ideal home on wheels. You can play both solo or with up to four friends, and there’s no right or wrong, making Outbound truly cozy in every sense of the word.

You’ll ??need to adapt your play style depending on how far you venture, with everything from expansive fields to treacherous mountains to explore, but your trusty camper van can go everywhere with you. You can also establish a base camp by building around the camper van,? growing plants, and learning to cook the ingredients you cultivate.

Crimson Hollow

Crimson Hollow is coming in 2025

And just like that, another magic-based cozy game is waiting to be tried. Crimson Hollow will allow you? to try your hand at skills like mining, blacksmithing, herbalism, alchemy, and fishing because what would a cozy game be if there was no fishing? It’s almost a basic requirement at this point. Almost.

Outside of your own farming and gathering tasks, there are also quests to complete and townsfolk to meet, befriend, or become romantically entangled with. Building relationships will uncover new secrets or perks, and you’ll also be able to customize not only your character but also your home. With a cute cartoon art style and an intriguing story waiting to be told, Crimson Hollow is worth keeping on your radar.

Date Everything

Date Everything is coming in 2025
Image via Team17

Date Everything is proof that there’s a fine line between just-plain-weird and weirdly-cozy. Dating sims aren’t exactly a new thing, but Date Everything takes, well, everything, to the extreme. Rather than meeting and picking up regular people, Date Everything puts you in a house and offers you the chance to date eve??rything from the lamps to the dishwasher. How many times can I say “date everythingin one paragraph?

The concept is bizarre, but there’s a lot of appeal there. While I can’t say I’ve ever thought about the potential personified appearance of my TV cabinet, I’m intrigued to see what ??it c??ould look like if given the chance to become something more than it currently is. There are 100 characters waiting to be pulled from the furniture and appliances; the whole pun-filled experience is fully voice-acted by a large number of recognizable voices, featuring three endings per character. That’s a lot to get absorbed in.

Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game

Tales of the Shire is coming in 2025

There’s something infinitely appealin??g about life in Hobbiton, The Shire, Middle Earth. It’s picturesque, quiet, laid back, and outside of the appearance of Gandalf and Pippin and Merr?y’s insistence on causing chaos, there’s very little drama. That sounds relaxing, peaceful, and, dare I say it, ultimately cozy.

In Tales of the Shire, you can immerse yourself in Hobbit life. Farming, fishing, foraging, and, of course, the most important task for any Hobbit, cooking. No Hobbit hole is complete without a well-stocked pantry, and second breakfast is the mo??st important meal of the day. Stock up on potatoes, and explore ??the village of Bywater to create connections with your fellow Hobbits, which is greatly helped by sharing meals.

Loftia

Loftia is coming in 2025
Image via Cloud Games

Loftia is a cross between a life sim and a small-scale MMO. You have your own floating island that can be customized and used to farm, forage, and craft your way to a brighter future. You can then join players nearby to form neighborhoods, using ethical energy to p?ower your creat?ions in this sustainable new world.

Through the use of hydroponics, trellis farming, repurposing trash into usable furniture, and scavenging from abandoned factories, you can create a utopia while uncovering hidden stories to play through and locations to explore. There’s also the ability to adopt companions, including capybaras, turtles, and even some as-yet unrevealed endangered creatures. As if that’s not enough, you can dress them in adorable outfits, instantly making Loftia worth your time.

inZOI

inZOI is coming in 2025
Screenshot by Destructoid

It’s been hard to avoid hearing about inZOI over the last few months, especially for those heavily into The Sims and other similar titles. inZOI takes the prov?en life sim concept and throws?? it into the 21st century with almost photo-realistic graphics and endless customization possibilities powered by what KRAFTON has promised to be ethical generative AI.

There have been countless videos of early gameplay released through YouTubers such as MadMorph, and KRAFTON also released the character studio demo for a few weeks toward the end of 2024, allowing players a glimpse of what’s to come. And what’s to come looks incredibly impressive. With ultimate control over everything from the weather to the type of wild creatures you can encounter and the possibility to upload photos of your own items to import and use in the game, there’s no end of new things to try when inZOI eventually gets a full release on March 28.

Throughout the years I’ve spent gaming on various platforms, I’ve alway??s found myself drawn to the more cozy side of virtual life. Not exclusively, of course, but I always find myself drifting back to sli?ce-of-life experiences when I need some rest and relaxation.

2024 has been one hell of a year for cozy gaming. Not only ??did we get updates for ever-popular games, but there were also some surprises along the way that took hold and cemented their place in the cozy sphere. In short, it was a good year to be a cozy gaming fan.

With 2024 rapidly coming to an end, here are my top 12 cozy titles from th?e last 12 months ranked from good to incredible, and every single one of them is worth checking out if you want to de-stress and escape from the real world for a little while.

12. Botany Manor

Botany Manor
Image via Balloon Studios

As someone who is seemingly incapable of keeping a succulent alive (seriously, I just took a look at it on my shelf and it’s in a sorry state, but I was at the very least reminded to water it), even I can see the appeal and relaxation that comes with honing your horticultural knowledge and raising a selection of plants from seed to flower. Botany Manor allows you to do just that, without the danger of killing any real-life pl??ants.

With point-and-click puzzles and a frankly stun??????????????????????????ning Victorian Manor setting, it’s easy to kill hours of time just wandering around, getting your virtual fingers dirty as you rediscover lost and forgotten magical flora. Unlocking new areas is done through successfully getting a plant to bloom, giving you a much needed sense of accomplishment every time something grows.

11. Little Kitty, Big City

Little Kitty, Big City
Image via Double Dagger Studio

There’s something about cats that can make any game feel cozy, although I might be biased as something of a burgeoning crazy cat lady. However, Little Kitty, Big City?? deserves a place on this list due to the relaxed way in which you play, as long as you’re not trying to speed run through all of the cha??llenges you face along the way.

With a myriad of critters to meet and befriend, from the sewer-portal-creating Raccoon, to the duck with questionable parenting skills, Little Kitty, Big City is almost guarant?eed to make? you smile as you play. Then there’s the art style, which is undeniably cute, and the story of this little house cat who slowly learns how to exist in the outside world.

10. Shashingo

Shashingo
Image via Autumn Pioneer

Okay look, Shashingo might not seem all that cozy at first glance, but I urge you to hear me out. At its core, Shashingo is a game designed to help you learn Japanese through virtual photography. Armed with only a camera, you wander around a Japanese city center and take photos of the various items and characters you encounter, with the photo coming comp??lete w??ith both spoken and written translations.

So yes, while you’re lear?ning as you play, the concept of stretching your legs and just snapping photos of your surroundings is absolutely a relaxing experience. You can add frames, more of which are available to unlock through gacha machines in various locations, and there’s a mode that challenges you to find different objects so you can test your memory.

9. Little-Known Galaxy

Little-Known Galaxy
Image via Carbon & Kay

Little-Known Galaxy is one of what seems like thousands of pixel life sims that are currently available to download and play, but there’s something just different about it. It has everything that you likely expect from a game of its type - farming, friendships, mining, crafting, and decorating to name but a few - but?? it’s s??et on a spaceship in the middle of space.

You’re not confined to the spaceship though. As you progr??ess, you’ll unlock your own tiny shuttle that can be used to explore planets both near and far to gather more resources that can’t be found elsewhere. The planets are essentially the equivalent of the Mines in other similar games, but every one of them is different, and the exploration potential seems positively endless.

8. Minami Lane

Minami Lane
Image via Doot Tiny Games

Bizarrely, Minami Lane might be the most stress-inducing entry on this list of supposedly stress-free cozy games, and it doesn’t seem like it would be stressful at all from a quick glance. The ??art style is completely adorable, the characters are sweet, and the concept is addictive in a weir??d sort of way.

However, trying to meet the requirements to pass a level can be in?furiating. You need to balance the wants and needs of both old and young residents, both of which want vastly different things from their street. You need to pick the stock for bookstores, ramen stands, and convenience stores, while making sure everything is aesthetically app??????????????????????????ealing, and also keeping the trash off the streets.

So yes, infuriating, but weirdly enjoyable.

7. Snufkin: Melody of Moomin Valley

Snufkin: Melody of Moomin Valley
Image via Hyper Games

I love the fact that our review of Snufkin begins with the sentence “I grew up absolutely terrified of Moomins. because I feel like that’s a pretty common experience for most people my age, and Melody of Moomin Valley came out at just the rig?ht time to change a lot of minds about the strangely creepy little hippo-esque creatures.

Without any combat to work your way through, Melody of Moomin Valley centers around various instruments that can be used t??o overcome obstacles, solve puzzles, and generally interact with the world around you as you play. The art style is beautiful, and the waves of nostalgia will hit you lik??e a rock to the face, even if you were creeped out by Moomins as a child.

6. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Before you say anything, yes I know that Stardew Valley first released eight years ago, but we did get a hefty update in the form of 1.6 and that has dragged a lot of players to Pelican Town, both new and returning after long breaks. I know that this entry is a bit of a cheeky one, but there were various parts of 1.6 that earned Stardew Valley at least a mention on this list.

Stardew needs no description at this point. It’s the grandfather of endless cozy games that have tried to ride on its coattails, some of which have su??cceeded. It’s always cozy, and there’s an endless number of things to keep you entertained. With 1.6 now available on all platforms, now is the time to j?ump back in or give it a try.

5. Summerhouse

Summerhouse
Screenshot by Destructoid

While the majority of the titles on this list are life sims, Summerhouse is different. Rather than living out a life through your mouse, all that’s required of you is to build. Each item placed down has the possibility of unlocking a new building block, making Summerhouse feel like LEGO for adults.

Yo??u can play with two different art styles, either pixelated or not, and there’s no end to what can be achieved usi??ng the pieces at your disposal. Everything just slots together in such a satisfying way and even if you have absolutely no building skills, you’ll be able to create something beautiful. I speak from experience.

4. Tavern Talk

Tavern Talk
Image via Gentle Troll Entertainment

Tavern Talk takes the concept of an RPG and flips it on its head, turning you into a partially controllable NPC. You’re the barkeep at a fantasy Tavern, and through your conversations with various fantasy folk, you learn abo?ut the world around you while crafting drinks imbued with magical properties to help them on the quests you dish out.

Tavern Talk has a stunning, anime-esque art style and every single character you encounter is unique and relatable. Whether you have issues believing in yourself like Fable, or you’re a loner like Caerlin, you’re sure to find someone ??who reminds you of yourself. There’s comedy, too, and did I mention that there’s a cute little creature called Andu that will happily slurp down any drinks you make incorrectly? Adorable.

3. Infinity Nikki

Infinity Nikki
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are two groups of people when it comes to Infinity Nikki: those who have played the previous Nikki games, and those who have just discovered it through the latest iteration. For those who had never played the previous mobile games, the success and joy of Infinity Nikki might come as a surprise, but the open-world RPG release has taken a firm hold in the cozy gaming communit??y.

Yes, it’s a dress-up game filled with frilly dresses and adorable creatur??es. But it’s more than just that. There are endless quests to complete, a compelling story, an absolutely stunning world to explore, and the possibilities f??or future updates are practically infinite - pun intended.

If you don’t want to gamble on new outfits, one of the best things about Infinity Nikki is that you don’t have to, even if it is a gacha game. Most of the outfits are purely cosmetic, and you’re given everything you need? as you progress through the main story, making the gacha side of things truly optional.

2. Tiny Glade

Tiny Glade
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you’ve ever read any of my previous outpourings of love for Tiny Glade, then you’ll know how I feel about it, but I’m always happy for further opportunities to shout my praise for this glorious title from the rooftops.

Tiny Glade is a stunning game that, much like Summerhouse, only requires you to build. The development duo at PounceLight have poured their souls into the game, constantly listening to player feedback and implementing new features as they’re requested. These features allow players to build absolutely stunning dioramas that mess with perspective an?d challenge what should be possible.

The latest update gave players the freedom to move clutter items, which was my single gripe, so now I can safely say that Tiny Glade is the perfect game to pour hours of your life into if y??ou need something utterly relaxing and stress-free.

1. Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

I’m pretty sure that this will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody. Fields of Mistria released into early access back in August 2024, and it cemented its place in the cozy gaming history books remarkably quickly. Back in June, during Steam Next Fest, I wrote that I could see myself pouring hours of my life into the pixel world, but even I didn’t expect to fall in love with it quite as much as I did. For those interested, my? hour-count is now hovering somewhere around 500.

Not only is the art style cute, it’s also impeccably clean. Every single character has their own personality, all of which are likable in their own way, and there is never a shortage of things to do. You can spend hours perfecting the aesthetic of your farm and house, or you can explore the Mines, or simply build relationships with all of the villagers in Mistria. Did I mention that you can both jump and swim? That alone puts Fields of Mistria firmly at the top of the cozy games list.

Perhaps this shouldn’t come as a shock, considering the fact that the developers are also responsible for the household name that is Pusheen, but Fields of Mistria has proven that it has all of the elements that cozy?? gamers are looking for, and it’s here to stay, with more updates promised in 2025.

One of the most vital parts of life in Fields of Mistria is rearing livestock, ??and to do that, you need some farm buildings. Coops and Barns can each hold different types of animals, and they each come in?? three different sizes.

Before you can get animals on your farm in Fields of Mistria, you’ll need to repair both the Bridge and the Mill. Repairing the Bridge is the first task set for you by Adeline and happens fairly early on. Then, once that’s done, you’ll get a letter from Adeline in the mail after the Spring Festival in your first year. Visiting her in her office will spark the quest to repair the Mill, and when that’s done, you can move on to get some animals??.

How to get Barns and Coops in Fields of Mistria

Farm building blueprints for purchase in the Carpenter's Shop in Fields of Mistria

After you’ve repaired the Mill, you’ll get a letter in the mail from R?yis telling you that you can now purchase Barns and Coops. Initially, you’ll be able to get two different sizes of each building, each of which comes in either red or white. The color of the building doesn’t affect the resources needed to build them, nor the number of animals that it can hold. It’s purely aesthetic, and which one you get depends on the look you're going for on your Farm.

To build a Coop or Barn, you’ll need to head to the Carpenter’s Shop to purchase the blueprint, then place the footprint of the building dow??n on your farm. A box will appear where you can place resources over time, and the building will be built when all of the necessary resources are pl??aced in the box.

Each farm building requires the follow??ing resources and funds?? to build:

Farm building Resources needed Blueprint cost Capacity
Small Coop 75 Wood75 Stone 1,500 Tesserae 4
Medium Coop 100 Wood75 Stone 3,000 Tesserae 4
Small Barn 100 Wood75 Stone 2,000 Tesserae 8
Medium Barn 125 Wood100 Stone 4,000 Tesserae 8

How to get Large Coops and Barns in Fields of Mistria

The blueprints for Large Coops and Barns only become available when you receive a letter from Ryis after reaching level 40 in the Ranching skill. This is done by treating your animals well by feeding and petting them each day, letting them ?out of the buildings when the weather is nice, and not leaving them outside overnight.

Large Coops and Barns aren’t too? expensive, but if you want to replace an existing building with a larger version, you’ll need to put all of the contained animals in daycare at Hayden’s Farm, remove the original building, then place the new bigger building down where you want it to be before getting the animals back out ??of daycare.

This seems like a f?aff, but it’s worth doing if you want to maximize on animal produce while saving on space and you do at least get the resources back that you used to create the original build??ing. Sadly, the Tesserae spent buying the blueprints is not returned, but you do get to keep the old blueprint to place elsewhere if you want to.

L?arge ?Coops and Barns require the following resources and funds to build:

Farm building Resources needed Blueprint cost Capacity
Large Coop 125 Wood
100 Stone
6,000 Tesserae 12
Large Barn 150 Wood
125 Stone
8,000 Tesserae 12

Coops are designed for small animals, while Barns are obviously designed for larger animals. With the newly added ability to have a Mount ?and customize it to your preferences, you can change the appearance of your Mount to any animal that liv??????????????????????????es within a barn, as long as it has four or more hearts of friendship.

Here’s what animals live in which farm building:

Building type Animals
Coop Chickens
Ducks
Rabbits
Capybaras
Barn Cows
Sheep
Horses

It’s an unwritten rule that any good life sim should have a museum where you can hand in items to complete collections and earn rewards. Fields of Mistri?a is no exception to this rule, with hundreds of items of all different types to hand in.

The first major update to Fields of Mistria on November 18 added some new collections to the Museum, including the new Multi-Season sets in the fish and insect wings. Prior to the update, fish or bugs that could spawn in more than one season were generally not included in any collections at the Museum, but this update changes that, and there are new rewards up for grabs, t?oo.

How to complete the Multi-Season Fish set in Fields of Mistria

The Multi-Season Fish set is by far the easiest of the two new sets to complete. All of the included fish are common ??and can spawn in?? any season, including Winter, so there is no limit to when you can go fishing and work towards completing the set.

On top of that, you can narrow down the search for each fish because not only do they each spawn?? in specific locations, but they also have specific shadow sizes. This means you don’t have to waste energy fishing up every fish in a location but can focus on the specific shadow size of the fish you’re looking for.

Here’s all of the fish included in?? the Multi-Season Fish set, as well as the??ir shadow sizes and where they spawn:

Fish Spawn location Shadow size
Koi Pond Medium
Pollock Ocean Large
Pike River Large
Smallmouth Bass River Small
Trout River Medium

For completing the? Multi-Season Fish set at the Museum in Fields of Mistria, you’ll earn the following:

  • 1 Golden Treasure Box
  • 1 Faux Fish Wall Plaque
  • Faux Fish Wall Plaque recipe

The Multi-Season Insect set is much harder to complete, especially if you’re starting the search in the Fall, frantically searching to find them before the first day of snow. Four of the five insects included in the set will not spawn during Winter, so you’ll have t??o find them in Spring, Summer, or Fall instead.

On top of this, each insect will only spawn during specific weather conditions and at certain times of the day. All of this adds up to become quite frustrating,?? but you can make it easier on yourself by remembering a few things:

  • Chopping down long grass can sometimes cause insects to spawn, especially on the Farm
  • These insects can spawn anywhere other than the Beach or inside the Mines, so explore all other areas thoroughly during their spawn windows
  • You can check what kind of weather you’re going to have the next day by using the Crystal Ball or on the day by checking the icon next to the date in the top right corner of the screen

Here are all of the insects included in the Multi-Season Insect set, as well as all the information you’ll?? need to find them:

Insect Seasons Time Weather conditions
Fuzzy Moth Any 8 p.m. - 2 a.m. Sun/Wind
Ant Spring/Summer/Fall All day Any
Hummingbird Hawk Moth Spring/Summer/Fall All day Any
Bumblebee Spring/Summer/Fall 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sun/Wind

Seasonal variants each? come with unique Cosmetic items, which can be used for all other animals of the same type regardless of which tier they are in.

If you have a lot of animals on your Farm in Fields of Mistria, you’ve likely grumbled at least once a??bout having to do the?? rounds to get them in or out of their respective buildings with individual bells. If so, you’re definitely going to want the Big Bell.

The Big Bell was added to Fields of Mistria as part of the first major update on November 18. Once placed, it can be used to call all of your animals in or out of their farm buildings, regardless of how many of them ther??e are.

Unfortunately, unlocking the Big Bell is going to be a bit of a grind, ??but here’s everythin?g you need to know.

How to get and use the Big Bell in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Big Bell in Fields of Mistria

The Big Bell can be unlocked by grinding out your ranching level all the way to level 45.?? When you get there, you can head over to Calderusâ€?Statue on the farm and unlock the level 45 ranching skill perk “The Bell Tollsâ€?at a cost of 155 Essence.

This won’t just hand you the Big Bell itself, though. Instead, you’ll unlock the rec??ipe to craft it yourself, so you’ll need to head over to a Crafting Bench with the following resources:

  • 5 Copper Ingots
  • 5 Iron Ingots
  • 5 Silver Ingots
  • 10 Hardwood

If you haven’t got the necessary resources to make the needed Ingots, you’ll need to head down into the Mines to gather them. Copper Ore can be found in the Upper Mines (floors 1 - 20), Iron Ore can be found in Tide Caverns (floors 21 - 40), and Silver Ore can be found in Deep Earth (floors 41 - 60). You’ll ne?ed 50 of each typ??e of Ore before you can use the Anvil outside the Blacksmiths to turn them into Ingots.

The recipe for the Big Bell can be found in the "Functional" section at the Woodworking Bench. Once you’ve crafted the Big Bell, you can place it anywhere on your Farm, then it’s used in the same way as any of the bells on individual Coops or Barns. Just interact with it, then select eithe??????????????????????????r “Call outsideor “Send insideto get the ??animals in or out.

How to increase your Ranching skill in Fields of Mistria

Animals in their building in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

Even if your ranching skill was at the maximum of 30 pre-update, you’re still going to have to grind out 15 levels, and that takes time and effort. Unlike other skills like Mining or Cooking that can be done as much as you like and increase quickly, ranching is limite??d to what you can do with the an??imals each day.

The s?peed at which your ranching level increases will also depend on how many animals you have on your farm. It’s a good idea to at least fill each building to its full capacity, and once you reach ranching level 40, you’ll unlock?? Large Coops and Barns to purchase at the Carpenter’s Shop for 6,000 and 8,000 Tesserae, respectively. These buildings can hold 12 animals in each.

Here are some general tips for increasing your ranching skill ??level:

  • Pet each animal every day
  • Feed each animal every day (with feed inside the building, hand-fed crops, or allow them to eat crops outside)
  • Let them out of the buildings on days with good weather
  • Don’t leave them outside overnight

If you’re finding your space restricted in Fields of Mistria and running out of places to put things inside your farmhouse, don’t worry. If you can save up the funds and gather up the resources, yo?u’ll soon have a lot of space to decorate.

To begin with, the inside space of your home is only 13 by 8 tiles in size. This is incredibly limiting, especially when you start to craft your own furniture, earn rewards at the Spring Festival, or bring back choice finds from the Mines.

How to upgrade the Farmhouse in Fields of Mistria

Thankfully, there are three different upgrades that can be?? purchased to expand your spac??e. The first of these will expand the central room to a larger size, while the other two will add a room on each side of the original farmhouse.

Remember to physically take all of the resources required to the Carpenter's Shop with you when it's time to perform e??ach upgrade.

First upgrade

How to upgrade the farmhouse in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you’re looking to expand, you can do so pretty easily by purchasing the first House Upgrade from the Carpenter’s Shop. This will increase the size of the main room to 17 by 12 tiles. Unfor??tunately, this initial upgrade isn’t cheap, and you’ll need a hefty sum of both materials and Tesserae.

In total, you’ll need the ?following resources before you can p??urchase the first House Upgrade:

By far, the easiest way to get Stone is by heading into the Min?es, and you’ll be happy to know that you can commit mass deforestation across the entirety of Mistria to get the wood. Don’t worry, the trees will be back in their usual spots the very next day, so you’re not doing any lasting damage even if you chop them down on the daily.

Once you’ve got your resources and have purchased the House Upgrade, the Farmhouse will already be bigger ??when you return to it. You mig?ht find you need to rearrange your furniture, so make sure you’ve got enough time to do this when you get back to the farm unless you want to pass out at 2 a.m. While the change to the outside is minimal, it’s really inside where the difference is most noticeable:

Second upgrade

Second farmhouse upgrade in Fields of Mistria

The second? farmhouse upgrad??e in Fields of Mistria can be purchased after the first, and will add a new 13 by 9 tile room to left side of the house, including a new dormer window in the roof on the exterior. As with the first upgrade, getting the second one requires a large amount of resources and Tesserae.

In total, you'll need the following:

  • 500 Wood
  • 500 Stone
  • 20 Iron Ingots
  • 15,000 Tesserae

Despite the cost, it's a good idea to expand outwards so that you can begin to dedicate different spaces for different uses. For example, having a separate room for interior storage and crafting can be very useful, as it prevents you from being stuck outside in the rain when you want to craft. Alternatively, you could purchase some of the new bathroom inspired items available at Merri's stall at the Saturday Market.

You'll n??eed a?? total of 200 Iron Ore to make the 20 Iron Ingots required as part of this upgrade. Iron Ore can be found in Tide Caverns (floors 21 - 40) within the Mines. Alternatively, you can purchase Iron Ore from the Blacksmith as long as you've passed the Water Seal. It costs 70 Tesserae each, or 14,000 Tesserae in total.

Third upgrade

Third farmhouse upgrade in Fields of Mistria

The third upgrade available for your farmhouse will add an equally sized room on the oppos?ite side of the farmhouse, leaving you with a total of 438 tiles to fill with furniture and decorations. Of course, this doesn'??t come cheap, although many of the resources needed remain the same:

  • 500 Wood
  • 500 Stone
  • 20 Silver Ingots
  • 25,000 Tesserae

To get the 20 Silver Ingots you need to purchase this upgrade, you'll need a total of 200 Silver Ore, which can be found in Deep Earth (floors 41 - 60) within the Mines. If you'd rather buy the Silver Ore, you can get it from the Blacksmiths as long as you've passed the Earth Seal. It costs 100 Tesserae each, so you'll need to spend 20,000 in total to get all 200 needed for this up??grade.

This is the final upgrade that's currently available for?? your farmhouse in Fields of Mistria, although more are likely to be added during future updates. When more are added, this page will be updated accordingly. Until then, enjoy the added space to decorate!

Requests from villagers are a common staple of any farming sim, and Fields of Mistria is no different. The Request Board has been giving out small quests since the beginn??ing, but the first major upd?ate has added a new type of request.

Whereas regular Requests are for one-off items, such as forageables or crafted items, the newly added Crown Requests are much more labor intensive. They come directly from the King of th?e mysterious Capital and involve shipping items out of town. Effectively, Crown Requests turn you into a one-man export business.

Crown Requests will become available when you reach Town Rank 50, so you’ve got a bi??t of work ahea?d of you if you’re just starting out on your Mistrian adventure. When you reach this pivotal point, you can begin to pick up Crown Requests from the Request Board to the left of the General Store in town.

You only get one Crown Request a week, with a new one becoming available to pick up each Monday as long as you’ve completed the previous one in the week preceding. Each Crown R?equest offers two rewards:

  • 75 Renown (as opposed to the 20 Renown offered for completing regular requests)
  • 1 Golden Treasure Chest containing Tesserae and resources

All Crown Requests in Fields of Mistria

There are a lot of Crown Requests to work through, so this list may not be entirely exhaustive as of yet, although I’ve played through two seasons, completing one Crown Request each week sin?ce the update. I will add any further ?Crown Requests to this list as more become available.

Crown Requests seem to come out in a particular order, with the first one being Crops. They’re all relatively simple to complete, although a couple ar??e a little resource??-heavy. All Crown Requests ask you to ship certain items, but simply doing that isn’t enough to complete the request. You’ll need to talk to Adeline the day after the shipment has been made to complete each Crown Request.

For Crown Requests that don’t call for specific items, you can mix and match the different items to fit the requirement. For example, to ship 30 ?crops, you can ship a mixture of different kinds as long as you ship the requested total.

Here’s all of the Cr??own Requests that I??’ve personally seen so far:

Week Crown Request How to complete
1 Request for Crops Ship 30 crops of any kind
2 Tables and Chairs Ship 6 dining tables and 12 dining chairs of any kind
3 Mine Forageables Ship 30 Mines forageables of any kind
4 Fish Ship 40 fish of any kind
5 Berries Ship 30 berries of any kind
6 Ingots Ship 10 Iron Ingots and 5 Silver Ingots
7 Animal Materials Ship 10 Feathers and 10 Wool
8 Soup Ship 15 soups of any kind
9 Stone Ship 250 Stone
10 Archaeology Shards Ship 10 Shards and 10 Shard Masses

The first major update to Fields of Mistria added a second festival, and it’s a re??markably cute one. It’s got some really adorable lore, and is an opportunity to get to know your in-game crush just a little bit more.

The Shooting Star Festival takes place on Summer 28 each year, and lore-wise, it’s a chance for people to get together with friends, family, and loved ones to watch the meteor shower that takes place at that time. It’s also said that if you choose to watch the Shooting Star Festival ?with someone on The Summit, it will intrinsically tie your destinies together.

How to invite someone to the Shooting Star Festival in Fields of Mistria

Elsie visiting before the Shooting Star Festival in Fields of Mistria

On the morning of Summer 28, Elsie will come to visit you at the Farm to tell you about the Shooting Star Festival, and you’ll have to decide whether you want to take s??omeone with you to The Summit for a moon and meteor lit date (“Yes! Please tell me more!â€?, or if you want to experience the moment alone.

Who you can (or should) take to The Summit to e??njoy? Shooting Star Festival will depend on a couple of things:

  • Which romanceable villager(s) you currently have four or more stars with
  • Which of them you want to move forward to the next stage of your relationship with

If you tell Elsie that you want to take someone, she will provide you with a Sta??r Brooch. This item can be given to a villager with four or more hearts of friendship to invite them up to The Summit. After they have accepted, you’ll then need to wait until 8 p.m. to go and meet them. Meeting ??with your chosen date will end the day, so make sure you’ve done everything that you wanted to do in the meantime.

If you’re impatient and want to speed up the waiting process, you can take the op??portunity to do some milling. ?Each milled item will take up a chunk of time, and I very quickly passed the entire day churning Butter.

After entering The Summit after 8 p.m., you’ll enter into a cutscene with your chosen companion, during which you’ll learn more about them and? have the opportunity to grow closer.

Who should you invite to the Shooting Star Festival in Fields of Mistria?

Date with March on the Summit during the Shooting Star Festival in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

This de??cision is entirely personal and will depend on who you’ve developed more of a bond with. I chose to go with March, mainly because I’ve not put too much effort into building relationships and he was my only available option, but I likely would have invited him anyway even if I did have a choice!

Regardless of who you take with you to watch the meteor shower, you’ll have an opportunity to ge??t to know more about their past, as well as more about who they are now. It’s unclear as of yet whether taking someone to the Shooting Star Festival is the kick-off point to a romantic relationship, with this information likely becoming more clear when more heart events are added during future up??dates.

To be safe, think carefully about who you want t?o grow closer with before you hand out the Sta??r Brooch.

There are a ton of different resources to collect in Fields of Mistria and eventually us?e as part of crafting recipe, and the first major update on November 18 added a few more to worry about. One of them, Essence Drop, is particularly useful for a particular crafted set of furniture.

The problem with Essence Drop, is that it is a drop from only one monster within the Mines, so you might have a hard time stocking up on it to begin with. However, once you’ve unlocked the necessary levels of the Mines, you’ll b?e able to go down and farm for the resource pretty easily.

How to get Essence Drop in Fields of Mistria

Essence Bat in Fields of Mistria

To begin farming for Essence Drop, you’ll need to first unlock the Mines and then get past the Water Seal. It is a purple teardrop shaped resource that is a possible drop from the newly added Essence Bat monster within the Mines. They can be found anywhere in Tide Caverns ??and Deep Earth, although they seem to get more common the? further you descend.

Watch out for their sonic attack, which can be pretty devastating if yo??u’re not geared appropriately for the level of the Mine that you happen to be exploring. Essence Bats will get an exclamation point above their head before they attack, and then shoot out purple rays in your general direction that can’t be deflected, so make sure to dodge and weave!

How to use Essence Drop in Fields of Mistria

Before you reach Town Rank 50, Essence Drop might not seem all that useful and it can be tempting to just sell it, even though it only sells for 20 Tesserae each. However, I’d advise that you stock up on this resource as much as possible, because it’s used as part of the recipe for items that are part of the Cottage Garden? decor set.

You receive five different items from this set, as well as their recipes that can be used to create multiple variations of each item, between Town Ra?nk level 50 and 60, so you’re going to want some Essence Drop when you get there. You’ll only need on?e or two Essence Drop per item you want to make, but as they’re very cute and almost romantically themed, you’re likely to want to make a lot of them.

The five different items included with the Cottage Ga?rden decor set, and what Town Ran?k you unlock them at, are:

Rank Decor item Recipe variants
52 Cottage Garden Planter Comes with 3 different color variations
54 Cottage Garden Trellis Comes with three options: Plain, potted plants, and vine covered
56 Cottage Garden Workbench Can be either cluttered or clean
58 Cottage Garden Arch Can be either plain or covered in vines
59 Cottage Garden Shed With a plain roof, or one covered in moss

Bugs seem to be everywhere you turn in Fields of Mistria. No, I’m not talking about the development variety, I mean the tiny creatures with six (or more) legs that crawl, fly, and flap around the town ready to be caught using the Bug Net. ?;

As part of the first major update on November 18, a few new collections were added to the Museum and one of them requires you to gather up bugs that spawn in more than one season. There are a fair few of these multi-season insects to work through, and it can be a little?? overwhe?lming trying to figure out which spawns when.

All multi-season bugs in Fields of Mistria

There are two different types of inter-seasonal bugs in Fields of Mistria - those that spawn all year round, and those that can spawn in any season other than Winter. There are also Mines bugs, which are also multi-season, as the weather doesn’t quite penetrate bel??ow the ground.

Bugs in Fields of ??Mistria also have specific time and weather restraints to think about. If you’re confused, don’t worry, here’s all the bugs you?? need to consider if you’re trying to fill out the Multi-Season Insects collection at the Museum.

Year round bugs

The following bugs can spawn during any season, and most don’t have any specific spawn conditions. The Fuzzy Moth is an outsider here, and is slightly harder to catch than any of the other bugs that can be caught at any time. For the most part, if you wa?nt to catch these bu?gs, you’ll need to spend a lot of time at the Beach south of Sweetwater Farm.

Bug Location Weather Time
Fuzzy Moth Mistria Sun or Wind 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Beach Hopper Beach Any Any
Hermit Crab Beach Any Any
Relic Crab Beach Any  Any
Sand Bug Beach Any Any
Surf Beetle Beach Any Any
Waterbug Beach Any Any
Pond Skater Ponds Any Any

Spring, Summer, and Fall bugs

T?hese bugs are apparently not hardy enough to brave the cold of the Winter months like their Beach loving cousins, and you’ll mostly find them in the center of Mistria and the surrounding areas.

Bug Location Weather Time
Ant Mistria Any Any
Bumblebee Mistria Sun or Wind 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Grasshopper Mistria Sun or Wind 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Hummingbird Hawk Moth Mistria Any Any

Praying Mantis Mistria Sun or Wind Any
Question Mark Butterfly Mistria Sun or Wind Any
Redhead Worm Mistria Any Any
Rhinoceros Beetle Mistria Any 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The Speedy Snail could also be considered a Spring, Summer, and Fall bug as it can spawn in any season. However, as it is a? Legendary Bug, it is infuriatingly hard to find and belongs to the Legendary Insect collection at the Museum.

Bugs in the Mines

While bugs found within the Mines have their own collections at the Museum, it’s worth including them here as they are technically all-season bugs. They don’t have to worry about the rain, cold, or how windy it happ??ens to be, so th?ey can live their best lives down in the dark.

When you find a new co?smetic item, ?you’ll need to hold down ‘Eâ€?to learn it, and then you’ll always be able to use it in the character customization menu. Once you’ve learned a cosmetic, you won’t be able to find or purchase the same cosmetic again. For purchasable cosmetics, this does mean that stalls regularly end up with nothing to sell, but future updates promise additional cosmetics to come.

The Chicken Statue is an excellent source to earn different rewards in Fields of Mistria, which includes loot items and cosmetics.

Located in the Sweetwater Farm, it doesn't take too long?? to come across the statue. You can make your o??fferings by interacting with the statue, which will require you to spend some Beads. Let's take a look at all the available rewards you can get, which include special cosmetics.

Disclaimer: List to be updated based on Update 0.12.

Complete list of Fields of Mistria Chicken Statue rewards

Once you interact with the Chicken Statue?, you'll have to spend Beads to get the rewards. The rewards are random, but they are affected by the in-game season. You can spend 10 or 100 Beads, depending on the possible reward you want to obtain.

Beads Loot Season
10 Purse of Tesserae Winter
10 Butter x2 Spring, Fall, Winter

As part of the first major update to Fields of Mistria, a new type of area was added within the Mines called Ritual Chambers. Alongside this, ?a new Artifact set was added to the Museum to be completed, and the two are intrinsically linked.

Ritual Chambers seem to be exceptionally rare, with my first ever Ritual Chamber showing up after three in-game days of constantly descending into the depths of the Mines. You’ll also need to put a lot of effor?t in before you can ev??en unlock their ability to spawn.

How to find Ritual Chambers in Fields of Mistria

Level 45 mining perk in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

Before you can find Ritual Chambers, you’ll first need to unlock them. They’re part of the level 45 mining perk called “Lost to History so you’re going to be doing a lot of mining b??efore you can purchase the perk. Once you've done some grinding and reached this high level, you’ll be able to interact with the statue in the entrance to the Mines and unlock the “Lost to His?toryperk for 155 Essence.

After that, everything is dow??n to luck and RNG. There is no minimum level where a Ritual Chamber can spawn within the Mines, with my first spawning at level 19 and further ones at levels 32 and 54. The best method to maximize your chances of finding a Ritual Chamber is to start at level 0 and continue descending through the levels with your fingers crossed that one appears.

You’ll know when you’ve found a Ritual Chamber because it will be a mostly empty room with no enemies (including the new Mimic enemy), and just a large archaic, cauldron-esque pot in the midd??le. Interacting with this pot will cause it to th?row out an Artifact.

Ritual Artifact Set in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

Each of the Artifacts thrown out by the pots is part of the Ritual Artifact Set in the Museum, so make sure to hand them in as soon as you acquire them. These artifacts can only be found in Ritual Rooms, so it's definitely something to aim towards.

I haven’t managed to collect all of the items as of yet, but ??I’l??l update this with their identities and the reward for handing in all five as soon as I do.

Mounts are an exciting new feature added to Fields of Mistria as part of the? first major update on November 18. Not only do you get a default mount, but you can also ride around on your own large animals, as long as you mee??t certain requirements.

Unlocking your first mount can’t be done until you’ve completed a relativ?ely large chunk of the main story of Fields of Mistria, and you’ll need to complete all of the following tasks:

After doing all of that, ??you can finally move on to getting your hands on a mount that can give you a hefty speed ??boost.

How to get a mount in Fields of Mistria

During the “Find the Weatherva?neâ€?quest, you’ll get your first glimpse of a new and mysterious Horse Statue that was also unearthed during the wind storm that took the Weathervane from the roof of Hayden’s Barn. This statue is your key to getting mounts.

Either before or after you’ve returned the Weathervane to Hayden, interact with the Horse Statue to trigger a cu??tscene. In thi?s cutscene, you’ll be introduced to your first mount Mistmare

After the cutscene, you’ll have a new icon on the bottom right side of the screen, with an associated key that you can press to summon your new mount. By default, this is the key on your keyboard. If you want t?o change this, you can do so by opening u??p the settings and navigating to controls, then scrolling down to find “Mount You can re-assign the default button, and also assign a secondary hotkey.

Your mo??unt can be summoned while you’re outside at any time. There is no cooldown period between summonings, so you can hop on and off of your horse as man??y times as you like. Using the mount increases your movement speed dramatically, and also lengthens the distance of your jumps.

As wel??l as improving your movement speed, mounts can be so much more useful if you unlock all of the mount perks available by interacting with the Horse Shrine in the same way that you would CaldarusStatue on your farm. There are currently three in total, and each offers something incredibly worthwhile. You’ll need to spend a hefty amount of Essence to unl?ock them, but they’re definitely worth it.

Here are the three skill perks, what they offer, and how muc??h Essence you’ll need to part with to?? unlock them:

Mount perk What it does Cost
Horsepower Increases the movement speed of your mount by 10%. 200 Essence
Harvest Horse When you run over fully grown crops or dig spots on your mount, the item or
crop will automatically pop out of the ground. (This is basically the Tractor Mod
from Stardew Valley).
190 Essence
Nice Ride Allows you to change the appearance of your mount to any large animal that
you own and have more than 5 hearts of friendship with.
205 Essence

Before you can change the appearance of your mount, you’ll n??eed to unlock the “Nice Rideâ€?perk at the Horse Shrine. A??fter that, you’ll be able to change the appearance of your mount to any owned large animal that has a friendship level of more than 5 hearts.

To change the appearance of your mount, open up the main menu and select the An?imals tab. Your mount will be at the top of the list of animals on the right-hand side. Click on the mount, and then on the drop-down menu on the left side of the screen.

All animals that have a friendship level of 5 or more will be listed here??. Select the animal that you want to ride, and your mount's appearance will change. It’s worth noting that you retain all unlocked perks regardless of which animal you’re riding. You can also choose a new name for your mount in the same menu.

There are a lot of fish to catch in Fields of Mistria, and many of them have seasonal restrictions. However, there are a certain number of fish that can be caught in multiple sea?sons and as part of the first major update, these fish have t?heir own collection at the Museum.

Prior to the update, any fish (or Insect) that appeared du??ring more than one season was not included in any Museum collection. This new addition gives a whole new reason to hunt down all of these fish, but it can be hard to know what you’re l??ooking for.

So, with this in mind, let’s go through all of the fish that can be found during more than one season, where you’ll find them, and all the other details that you’ll need in your endeavors to complete the Museum.

As part of the first major update to Fields of Mistria, new main story quests were added that enable you to get new features. One such quest is “Find the Weathe??rvaneâ€? which will eventually enable you to use animals as mounts.

??This quest will only become availabl?e at a certain point after you've done a significant amount of town improvement. You'll need to have completed all of the following:

At some point after Hayden’s barn is enlarged, an overnight event will occur and a “strong windâ€?will blow through Mistria. When you step outside of your house the morning after, Hayden will ??pay you a visit.

He’ll make sure that everything is okay with you, before admitting that the Weathervane from his new Barn was blown off by the wind. He’ll ask you to go and look for it, before handily s?tating that the wind was blowing in a northerly direction.

I’m not sure how he knows what direction the wind was heading, but? this information very usefully narrows down your search to somewhere in The Narrows.

How to find the Weathervane in Fields of Mistria

To find the Weathervane, head up into The Narrows and make your way to the platform just north of Errol’s Cabin. Then, make your way to the left. Here you'll find a big rock (it's new), along with Hayden’s Weathervane lying on the ground in front of a new and mysterious Horse Statue. The location is marked be?low on the map:

Once you’ve got the Weathervane, track down Hayden and give it back to him. He’ll thank you for your efforts and return to his Barn to replace it before Ryis and Landen notice that it’s gone. This is pretty much all there is to this quest, but you can now go and interact with the Horse Statue ??and see what happens.

No spoilers here.

You've probably heard about the Mimic monsters if you're a big Dungeons and Dragons fan. They're known for their trickster ways, disguising themselves as a chest to lure you in for a treat. Fields of Mistria's Mimics functions similarly, bu?t fortunately, there is a?? way to defeat them.

Here's how to eliminate the Mimic and collect its rewards in Fields of Mistria.

How to get rewards from a Mimic in Fields of Mistria

You can find Mimics deep in the caves of Mistria, typically after the Mine's Level 15. They'll look like any standard chest, just without a lock (it will move, too). To defeat it without getting hurt, you must throw a meal at it by pressing the 'G' button. Ensure not to press Interact,?? as it will cause the Mimic to attack yo??u.

Throwing a meal at a Mimic
Screenshot by Destructoid

Based on my experience, any meal seems to work, whether you've cooked it up yourself or purchased one at the restaurant or shop. Approach the Mimic with the recipe on hand and throw it, resulting in the creature eating it shortly after. It will then spit out valuable rewards, including gold, artifacts, and other resources. The first time I defeated the Mimic, it gave me the Scrap Metal Chestpiece, but it will ?always change up d?epending on your playthrough.

You may receive higher-valued rewards when progressing further into the Mines. Higher levels will require various seals, including Water and Earth, allowing you to pass Levels 20 and 40.

If you do?n't have a meal to defeat the Mimic, you can press the Interact button to collect a few coins. Although you'll get hurt by its attacks this way, it'll at least offer you some money. Mine monsters, in general, also have a rare chance to drop new cosmetics for your collection. Plus, the latest Ritual Chamber rooms offer even more collectibles.

Besides Fields of Mistria's Mimic, you may ??encounter the new Essence Bat. Watch out for its damaging sonic wave, and try to take it down using a sword. If you kill it, it will drop a Monster Wing or Essence Drop, which?? is used in various crafting recipes.

The life of a farmer can get pretty lonely, especially if you've got a big ole' plot of land with no one to share it with. Fortunately, thanks to the lineup of Mistria's eligible bachelorette?s and bachelors, you don't have to go at it alone.

So, if you're ready to put yourself out there, here are all the romance options in Fields of Mistria.

Romance characters and gift preferences in Fields of Mistria, explained

Step into the dating world of Mistria with the various single and ready-to-mingl??e characters. Currently, 10 bachelors and bache?lorettes are available upon start, with two more who have yet to make their mark.

Although the two characters haven't been revealed, it could have something to do with Caldarus, the Guardian of Mistria. This character, in particular, has a heart symbol in its dialogue, which typically links to a romanceable option. The Priestess from the Mines may also be another potential partner, but it still hasn't been confirmed yet. Given that Fields of Mistria is still in Early Access, these two mystery dates could be arriving at a later time. I'll explore the new update to see if they're available, so check?? back here for more details.

We'll break down each romanceable character in Fields of Mistria, including their gift preferences.

In Fields of Mistria, Saturday might be the best day of the week, because that’s when the Sa?turday Market comes to town and you have a chance to get your hands on items that you can’t usually get.

The Saturday Market can also be incredibly help??ful if you have request items to hand in, or simply want to get your daily conversation in with each villager, because everyone congregates in the middle of town to do some shopping.

When you first begin a playthrough, the bridge that you hop over with Balor has been damaged in the recent earthquake, and without the bridge, the vendors for the Saturday Market can’t get into town.?

The quest to repair the bridge will arrive in the mail on Spring 3 of the? first year, and you’ll need the?? following resources to complete it:

  • 60 Wood
  • 60 Stone

How many stalls are there at the Weekend Market?

Currently, there are four stalls at the Weekend Market in Fields of Mistria:

  • Merri’s furniture stall
  • Louisâ€?clothing stall
  • Vera’s hair salon
  • Darcy’s café

Items available at each stall will vary week ??on week and both Louisand Vera’s stalls will stop selling items o?nce you’ve purchased everything that’s currently on offer. Darcy and Merri will continue selling their ready-made items, but they will stop selling recipes once all currently available ones have been purchased.

Will we get more vendors at the Saturday Market?

Future vendors at the Saturday Market in Fields of Mistria

According to the early access roadmap from NPC Studio, th?ere will be more Saturday Market vendors coming to Mistria at some point in a future update, but it’s not been confirmed when this will happen.

It’s not due to arrive as part of the first planned major update, which is expected before the end of 2024, but it is included in the future update ??plan. There is some knowledge of who these vendors will be, but more information will become available closer to the time they’re added.

There are a lot of resources in Fields of Mistria, and a l??ot (though definitely not all) of items can be purchased from one of the various vendors. The General Store is a great first place to look if you’re hunting for something.

There are two types of stock at the General Store, permanent and seasonal. Permanent stock includes furniture, tools, and ingredien??ts, while seasonal stock is all of the seeds that you ca??n use to grow crops on the Farm.

The stock displayed at the beginning of a playthrough is not the full list of items which can be purchased, as further stock is added after you upgrade the General Store as part of the main story quest “Repair the General Storeâ€?

Before you upgrade the Store, th??ere are still a lot of items which can be purchased there. It’s where ?you’ll need to go to get basic tools, and the first seeds you need to start your farming business.

Ingredients

Ingredients are permanently in stock at the General Store regardless of the season. You’ll only really need to purchase these ingredients prior to repairing the Mill as part of the main story quests, but it’s still handy to be able to go back and get them if you’re running low on resources or ??are out of season to grow them.

Tools

If you’re looking for your first tools, or have made the mistake o??f thinking that your Shipping Bin is a storage chest like I did during my first playthrough, you can get them from the General Store. Again, these are always in stock and have no seasonal limitations.

Note: You get the Worn Axe, Worn Pickaxe, and Worn Bug Net through completing quests. These cu??rrently cannot be purchased back if you accidentally sell them, so make sure to keep them close to you at all time??s.

Item Cost
Worn Shovel 500 Tesserae
Worn Watering Can 150 Tesserae
Worn Hoe 150 Tesserae
Worn Sword 150 Tesserae

Furniture

There are limited pieces of furniture available to purchase from many vendors, including the G??eneral Store, but most decorative items are crafted after unlocking the recipes. Regardless of the season, you can always pu??rchase the following items at the General Store.

Item Cost
Potted Plant 100 Tesserae
Scarecrow 160 Tesserae
Wheelbarrow 200 Tesserae
Basic Wooden Chest 250 Tesserae

Whether you’re trying to complete the Fish Wing in the Museum, or get through the Earth Seal door, there’s one fish you’ll need to find in Fields of Mistria â€?Archerfish.

Thankfully, the Archerfish is a Mines fish, and that means that you don’t have any weather or seasonal restrictions? when it comes to hunting it. Sadly, that doesn’t make it easier to find. As an uncommon fish, you’re likely to be fishing for a while before you come across this little spitter.

For context, Archerfish are a very real fish which will hunt its insect prey by shooting a stream of water at them from beneath the surface. While Archerfish in Fields of Mistria aren’t about to start spitting at you while you’re fishing, it’s a fun piec??e of trivia that I’ve never ?had an opportunity to share. And now you know.

How to catch an Archerfish in Fields of Mistria

Tide Caverns in Fields of Mistria
Screenshot by Destructoid

To find an Archerfish, you’re going to have to first unlock the Mines, reach level 20, and unlock the Water Seal. This will give??? you access to Tide Caverns (Floors 21 - 40), which is precisely where you’ll need to be to catch an Archerfish.

Archerfish have small shadows, but they’re not the only fish in the area with the same size shadow. The Sapphire Betta is another small fish caught in the Tide Caverns, and it is a common fish, so you’re likely to stock up on them while hunting for Archerfish. On the plus side, Sapphire Betta can also be donated to the Museum, can be given to Balor as ??a like??d gift, and each one sells for 40 Tesserae.

To make it easier on yourself, make sure to unlock the following Perks at Caldarus' Statue when they become available:

Perk What it does Level Essence cost
Appealing Reeling Fish will become attracted to your bobber from further away 1 10
Perfect Catch Uncommon and rare fish become more common 15 40

How to use Archerfish in Fields of Mistria

The Earth Seal in Fields of Mistria

Outside of donation to the Museum, the only real use for an Archerfish is to make your way through the Earth Seal. This will provide access to Deep Earth (Floors 41 - 60 of the Mines), allowing you to gather Silver Ore and Eme?ralds, as well as giving you the ability to ??catch more fish or bugs for the Museum.

If you’re a fan of chocolatey goodness and indulgence, then I’ve got good news for you. Fields of Mistria’s v0.11?.6 update added a new and gloriously decadent recipe to the game Chocolate Cake.

Although Chocolate Cake itself isn’t new to Mistria, having been sold at Darcy’s Stall and found in Treasure Chests previou??sly, this is the first time that we can cook this tasty treat. This gooey, melt-in-the-middle dessert is a 3-star, le??vel 20 recipe made in tier two Kitchens. It takes 40 minutes to cook, so make sure you leave enough time between starting the preparation and the end of day at 2 a.m., lest you pass out in the cake mix.

How to get the Chocolate Cake recipe in Fields of Mistria

As with all things cakey in Fields of Mistria, the recipe for Chocolate Cake can be obtained from Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market. It’s among the most expensive recipes, and will set you back 400 Tesserae.

Remember, if you’ve not purchased all of the recipes on offer from Darcy’s Stall, you may have to wait a fe??w weeks before Chocolate Cake shows up.

There are four necessary? ingredients when it comes to making Chocolate Cake, and they’re as you’d expect if you’ve ever made a cake in real life:

  • 1 Chocolate

    • Has a chance to appear at Balor’s Wagon for 200 Tesserae. As this is a fairly common ingredient, or otherwise liked gift, I advise that you stock up on Chocolate whenever it appears for sale.

  • 1 Flour

    • Produced at the Mill using 1 Wheat, or otherwise purchased at the General Store for 200 Tesserae
    • It’s possible for Flour to drop from any type of Treasure Chest

  • 1 Sugar

    • Produced at the Mill using 1 Sugarcane, or otherwise purchased at the General Store for 115 Tesserae
    • It’s possible for Sugar to drop from any type of Treasure Chest

  • 1 Egg

    • Dropped from female chickens
    • Can possibly be found for sale at Balor’s Wagon for 50 Tesserae
    • Possible reward after exchanging 10 Shiny Beads at the Chicken Statue

Is Chocolate Cake worth making in Fields of Mistria

March and Eiland in Fields of Mistria

Of all the new recipes, Chocolate Cake is possibly the most worthwhile. In terms of gifting, Eiland loves Chocolate Cake while March l?ikes it, so if you give them Chocolate ??Cake, you’ll get 20 or 10 friendship points, respectively, at least.

Once baked, Chocolate Cake sells for at least 470 Tesserae, which is a pretty profit if you’ve grown your own ingredients. In terms of energy and health, Chocolate Cake will restore 110 of each when consumed, which is more than enough to get you through a few levels of the Mines in good shape.

Pan Fried Bream is a recipe that was added to Fields of Mistria in the v0.11.6 update, and unlike some of the other recipes, this one is very easy to cook from a? relatively low level. Let’s look at where to get the recipe ?and ingredients.

Thankfully, you don’t have to grind very hard before you can cook this fish-based meal. Pan Fried Bream is a 1-star, level 2 recipe that can be cooked at any tier of Kitc??hen. It takes 20 minutes to prepare.

The recipe for this fish dinner can be purchased at the Sleeping Dragon Inn for 150 Tesserae. As with all other recipes which are sold by vendors, you may need to buy up all of the recipes on offer before this one s??hows up for sale.

All recipes that are sold at the Inn have an equal chance to show up on an?y day, so make sure to check bac??k daily if you’re looking for this recipe or any other particular one.

Yo??u’re only going to need two ingredients to make this dish, and the main one can be ??found only in Summer:

  • 1 Bream

    • Found in Rivers during the Summer with no weather or time restrictions. Bream is a fish with a large shadow.

  • 1 Oil

    • Purchased for 60 Tesserae from either Balor’s Wagon or the General Store.
    • Can also drop from either Wooden or Copper Treasure Chests

The Mines in Fields of Mistria

Pan Fried Bream is definitely not the most popular gift in Fields of Mistria, but most villagers feel neutral about it, so you’ll get at least three friendship points with whoever you give it to. The exception to this is Hayden, who dislikes any fish or fish-based dishes.

When consumed, Pan-Fried Bream will restore only 24 energy and health, although this is still enough to save you if you’re in trouble down in the Mines. It ??sells for 80 T??esserae, which is a small profit compared to the cost of Oil.

Iced Coffee isn’t new in Fields of Mistria, we’ve been able to buy it from Darcy’s Stall for a while. However, the recipe is now obtainable thanks to the v0.11.6 update---here??’s how to get it and how to make this chilly caffeinated drink.

Iced Coffee is a 2-star, level 10 cooking recipe that can be cooked at any tier ?of Kitchen??, including the one in the Sleeping Dragon Inn. It takes 20 minutes to prepare, so avoid cooking it close to 2 a.m.

As with a lot of drink recipes, you’ll need to wait for Saturday ??to ro??ll around if you want to unlock the Iced Coffee recipe because it’s sold at Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market for 300 Tesserae.

Of course, this poses some problems, especially if you’ve not been buying up all the recipes she can carry. Make sure to buy all the recipes you see, but if this one doesn’t show up, you’ll need to wa?it for the next week. Restarting your game does not re-roll the recipes on offer.

There are th?ree different ingredients required to make Iced Coffee, only one of which requires a specific?? season:

  • 1 Ice Block

    • Foraged from around Mistria in the Winter. It’s usually found on the darker blue areas of ground around trees, and one spawns on the north bank of the river directly above the Farm.

  • 1 Milk

    • Dropped from female cows, or can otherwise be purchased from either the Sleeping Dragon Inn or Balor’s Wagon for 120 Tesserae.
    • You can also potentially get Milk after exchanging 10 Shiny Beads at the Chicken Statue, or from Wooden Treasure Chests.

  • 1 Coffee

    • Perhaps the most vital ingredient, you can get Coffee from either Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market, or from Balor’s Wagon, for 100 Tesserae
    • It’s also possible to get Coffee from Copper Treasure Chests

Reina and Ryis in Fields of Mistria

While it isn’t on any of the villagers loved gift lists, it is liked by both Reina and Ryis,?? so you can get at least 10 friendship points by giving it to them.

Outside of this, Iced Coffee isn’t particularly useful when it comes to energy or health, only providing 10 of each when consumed. However, Iced Coffee will provi?de you with a speed boost if you drink it, so if the thought of hot Coffee doesn’t take your fancy, you could always substitute this chilled version. You could also sell it, as it sells for 105 Tesserae.

The Jasmine Tea recipe is, perhaps unsurprisingly, obtained from Darcy’s Stall at the Saturday Market for 150 Tesserae. If you’ve not been buying up all of her available recipes, you might have to wait a few weeks?? before Jasmine Te??a appears. ;

Each recipe sold by Darcy has an equal likelihood of appearing on any Saturday,? and restarting the day does nothing to change which recipes are on offer, potentially making this ?one a little difficult to get your hands on.

De??spite being a floral recipe, you’ll need to gather ingredients in t?wo opposing seasons in order to make Jasmine Tea:

  • 1 Tea

    • Grown on the Farm in Summer, with seeds being purchased from the General Store after it’s been upgraded for 150 Tesserae. It takes five days to mature and then reproduces every three days as long as it’s watered daily.

  • 1 Jasmine

    • Foraged around Mistria during Winter, or grown on the Farm during the same season. Jasmine Seeds can possibly drop while foraging wild Jasmine after unlocking the level 1 “Prepared Pickerâ€?Perk at Caldarusâ€?Statue.

If you’re looking for a good gift for eithe?r Elsie or Josephine, Jasmine Tea is loved by both?? of them.

Outside of gifting, Jasmine Tea will sell for 185 Tesserae, and when consumed, will restore 34 health and stamina. While this isn’t groundbreaking, it will serve you well if you’re about to be knocked out by a Ore Clod or Enchantern down in the Mines.
