Here it is. This is it. By now, the lucky group of people that were able to grab a Switch will have one in their hands. Everyone will be running around the Great Plateau in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Shovel Knight made it??s way in?? at the very last second, with the new expansion to boot. 

A large chunk will be blowing friends up thanks to Super Bomberman R coming to a home console after seven years. While it may be no F-Zero, Fast RMX is sure to scratch some itch f?or fans that are? looking for something similar on a Nintendo console. Heck, those last two have online versus capabilities! Who knows how the network will be on launch though...

All in?? all, I think it's safe to say everyone's excited. I know you won't see too much from me once I get everything open and set up on my end. Here's to hopefully a bright future for Nintendo and more games to play with friends online.

Friday Night Fights

Well, this is it folks. We are one week away from the launch of one of the most anticipated consoles, the Nintendo Switch. I personally can't wait for next week to finally get one. I will be going out to my local Best Buy Thursday night to grab my system when midnight rolls around. Whil??e I'm sure there are a lot of you are tired of hearing about the Switch; I couldn't be more excited.

I personally haven't owned a home Nintendo console since the N64. To finally be grabbing one after all these years - it is also my first day-one console - feels like coming home. I do own a 3DS XL that I have enjoyed all these years, but the Wii and Wii U never really enticed me. I watched from afar as Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Splatoon, and Super Smash Bros. 4 all released on the Wii U. Thankfully I could get my Smash fix on the 3DS, but I never had a chance to play Splatoon. I played Mario Kart 8 once at a friend's house an??d fell in love with it. I just never got around to muster up the excitemen?t, or money, to pick a Wii U up.

However, it seems that my patience has paid off! I was lucky enough to grab a Switch for myself. Now I will get to experience Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in all its glory when it releases next month. I will finally get a chance to try out the new favorite IP from Nintendo when Splatoon 2 launches later this summer. Finally, I haven't been this excited for a Zelda game since Majora's Mask. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks like a game I can get lost in for days. Plus, how can I say no to a physical copy of Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ that I can take with me wherever I go? I just wish it wasn'??t pushed back two weeks at the last minute. 

All I know is that the next week is going ?to be a long wait.&nb?sp;

Friday Night Fights

We have all had those times. The one in particular that I’m thinking about has to do with a long losing streak. My work schedule consists of me going into when everyone is getting home from a long? day’s work. After eight hours, I go home when everyone is waking up to go to work or sleeping off an all-nighter. Due to this, I mainly play multiplayer games by myself. Of course this usually means I get matched up with randoms.

I have had some awesome synergy with randoms sometimes. We all choose roles we know that would greatly benefit the team. This is the reason why I picked up maining a healer in Overwatch. Well, it seems that well has dr??ied up for the time being.

I ha??ve been able to barely scrape by and get the weekly loot boxes right before the refresh? timer in Overwatch. I have been on multiple streaks of losses as I groan when I see another Widowmaker or Hanzo sitting away from the poi??nt. The match?? ends with overtime and they just stare at the objective. I audibly yell when a Symmetra places a teleporter down instead of a shield generator when the payload is about to reach the last point. I eventually found a friend online to play a few matches. In those few matches, he even commented about my bad luck with queuing up with randoms.

While this has made me rage and give up on Overwatch, I have been playing other multiplayer games that?? I have neglected during the busy season last year. I finally got around to playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and getting back into Gears of War 4. I have had the complete opposite experiences in those games. I’ve had fun building my stealth class in Modern Warfare so I can stalk people around corners without appearing on the map. In Gears, I? think I finally nailed down the rang?e on the Gnasher shotgun to start being effective with it.

While I may be ups?et about missing some of the season items in Overwatch, at least I am giving more times to games I bar??ely touched last year. Gotta look at ??the silver lining, right?

Friday Night Fights

The? hottest games of the spring season ?are right around the corner. You know what that means, right? Closed betas! It seems like the past couple weeks have been filled with betas. The For Honor beta lasted all last week before ending S?unday. The Injustice 2 beta is still going strong. The codes are being sent out in w??aves to participants. I sadly haven’t been a?mong one of the lucky few. I am a huge fan of the first installment so I am crossing my fingers that I get in soon. Hopefully one of the future waves finds my email among the mass that probably signed up.

If you are interested in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, you can give the beta a shot this weekend! Codes go out sometime this week. The beta starts this weekend and will last a few short days, so if you want to give the next big Ubisoft game a shot, this is your best chance!

I have quite a few memories of playing beta tests back on the Xbox 360. I shamelessly bought Halo: ODST to play the Halo: Reach beta as well as buying Bulletstorm to play the Gears of War 3 test. I thought ODST was completely worth it. One of my favorite campaigns along with the chance to play Bungie's last upcoming Halo game? Yes please. The purchase of Bulletstorm on the other hand... yeah. I think I spent more time in the Gears beta rather than the game I bought in?? order to play it.

Game with the Dtoid Emilia community

Nobody ever said life was easy. Mike is busy, Pixie is busy, and Occams is currently away in another dimension (I assume). Seeing as how I finished packing to go to my in-laws' place today, I could spare a moment to get FNF up. It's too bad Mike probably won't be able to join us though due to said circumstances taking him away from FNF, because he just got Monster Hunter Generations too. I even advised him on how to fight Amatsu because nob??ody online really knows how to hunt Amatsu.

In these uncertain times of difficulty with life and questionable American elections, it's important to think of what gets you through the day. Like Rem, who is clearly best girl. I mean, it's a fac?t at this point. She ran away with a victory in character polls at nearly 49%. I refuse to acknowledge any other contenders. Just play games with the community with knowledge that Rem is best girl.

Welp. I'm diving back into Monster Hunter. Picked up Generations today (on sale for $30 at Gamestop), and I'm really excited. Haven't delved into one since Freedom Unite on PSP (Did play a bit of Tri, and the demo for 4U though). I found myself playing the demo for Generations over and over though, and saw the sale... the rest is history. Really excited to try out all these styles and arts, but mainly playable Palico's! OMFG yes! Now if you'll please excuse me, I have a lot of catching up and learning to do. Hit me up if you want to team up next week!

I've been?? really fascinated by maps recently. Not sure what it is, but the shapes and curves really attract me. I get all excited looking at them, and I feel they get excited being looked at. Friday Night Fights

So, Overwatch.

It is a game that one can play, and it's a game that I've been play?ing for the past week or so. You may have noticed.

Now that the launch hype for Overwatch is dying down, we're starting to see opinions shift a little bit. Few people still think that it's the greatest thing since satay (which is miles better than ??sliced bread, don't lie to me), but most seem to agree that it's still ??a fun game in its own right.

I happen to agree! I've never been into arena shooters before. I would've liked to try Team Fortress 2, but by the time that went free-to-play there was already such a large vested userbase that it seemed difficult to jump into as a newby. With Overwatch I got a fresh start, right alongside ev??eryone else.

This has turned out well so far. I'm not going to claim that I'm God's gift to Overwatching, but I like to think that if I pick a character that suits me I can contribu?te a great deal. Some of you have already played alongside me, s?o call me out on my bullshit if you think I'm wrong.

Game with the Cattoid Community

So it's catgirl day in the qposts. Figured I'd stay with the fuzzy the?me, kind of. Honestly makes me sad as hell though. Tuesday I came home to find my best friend (non-human, or man this story would be weird), curled up where I park waiting for me. Sadly he had passed. Poncho was the best fucking pet I ever owned, and dammit it hurts. Had a lot of dogs and cats in my almost 35 yrs., but Ponch was a fucking character. Mostly though he was a lover. Dude always waited for me to come home, hung out with me, ate my fucking food (and stole my pepsi), and was just an all around good catdude. Found him in a dumpster, three years ago this July. Way too soon to lose the guy.?? Is what it is though. Time to bury that pain and kill some of you.

Actually I just want to play some Turtles in co-op (I don't gaf what folks are saying, I love it). I don't feel like hooking up the PS4, and can't afford getting Doom on PC too or Quake Live, so yeah. Let's play. Sorry for bringing the mood down. Just all the damn cat posts.??.. Also, all the cats in that header hate the? person who did that. Don't do that to your pets.

Game with the Shadetoid Community

First off, give ShadeofLight a big round of applause. He's a real boy now. He is our newest Community Manager as well. We will do a proper intro soon for him (or rather his ass will, lazy Dutch..) though. This isn't his time. IT'S MINE! I real????ly have nothing to say, but I'll be damned if that eikel takes my spotlight.

What's everyone playing this week? OH RIGHT. Dark Souls 3. Blah, blah, blah. I'm on that Ratchet and Clank dick, mother fuckers. It is a sweet, beautiful dick to hang from too. Definitely a game well worth it's asking price. Other than that I've been playing the Battleborn beta. I have to say, it's grown on me quite a bit. I'm really enjoying my time with it and will get it close to release. I may hate Pitchford, but his team puts together decent games. My biggest gripe about it is, it is obviously hanging off the skeleton of Borderlands. This really show?s in the engine, and the story mode. Not a bad thing per se, but they could have done more to distance themselves from that game. That's my two cents at least.

Hot community on community action

Bats and Supes aren't the only ones having an epic throwdown this week (Though ours will be much more fun). The always awesome, ever sexy, and my personal wet nurse, Steven Hansen is leading you into battle at 4pm today! Who are we battling? The Reverb Games Twitch maestro Rick "KingFoom" Olson (who setup this whole thing and many of you should remember) and their awesome community from their Twitch channel! The battleground itself is Psyonix's Rocket League, and we need three of you to?? help?? us (well, err, Steven) out!

How do you join? KingFoom will be hosting a private server and Discord chat (I'll update with a link, once I have it) for this event. All you need to do is head over to Twitch.tv/ReverbGames chat and say "Hey, I'm from Dtoid and want to play!" Since Rocket League is crossplay, don't worry if you're on PC or PS4, it'll all get sorted. Just get in there and have fun with some great people! The games will also be hosted on our Twitch channel as well, so? we've even given you viewing options (we classy)!

Foom tells me there might be prizes, Steven has (not) promised nudity, and there's a 75% chance I'll show up in chat and say something horrible abou??t someone's mother. What more do you need?

Game with the Anniversatoid Community!

Ten years of you assholes. Well, eight for me, but it feels like ten though. Dear lord, we are all old now. Thank God my dick still looks 25 though. No clue how he does it. Must be all the moisturizer. Anyway, Dtoid... ten years... man. It's beautiful. I love this site so damn much. We've had our ups and downs, but what relationship doesn't? The key is, there are way more ups than downs here. For me it starts with the community (that's you fucks), but where else are you going to read stuff like this?  Or great interviews with the boss man himself (part one and two)? Shit, we got Ben crushing it on Experience Points. We have the progenitor of Skynet himself: Chris Carter, busting out reviews like no ones business. Hell, did you guys know Steven is our features editor now! Giv??e him a round of applause! Those are just t??hree of the amazing folks here! We still have Darren, Stephen, Laura, Kyle, Patrick, CJ, Jordan, Jed, and a ton of other crazy talented folks here. All of them busting their asses to entertain us.

That is a bunch of crazy talented people, but then there's our community. You guys are fucking amazing (except for you, you fuck). You all are what hold this place together. Help?ing with that, of course is our community team. Huge shout out to Pixie, Occams, Strider, Beccy and Konor... Connoer? Err Bloodspray. Let's not forget those that came before either, such as M. Game with the Elsatoid Community!

We are currently at $295 of our $400 goal. This community is as always, amazing, and so damn beautiful. What am I on about? Well, Papa Bear/Grumpy Dad came at the FNF team, with this great idea to raise money for one of our best: Elsa. So of course, we set about doing that. Why are we raising money for Elsa? To help get her some game stuff, that'll help take her mind off/ease her having to deal with this. Why should you care about Elsa? Because she is quite frankly, one of the most amazing people out there. Incredibly smart, badass at FPS, and kind and sweet. She is Dtoid's voice of reason, and the Mom of FNF. She hasn't been around much due to crap going on, but that doesn't change our love her.

So here we are, dedicating this night to Elsa. Screw that. This whole weekend is yours Elsa. Come Monday, we are going to grab you? some sweet swag and send it your way, but until then, let's co-op our way to awesomeness, race to the finish, and kill our way to victory for Elsa.

EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF!

You hear that? After 7 years... 7 full years of peace, quiet and other Earthy stuff. They are returning. THE FUCKING BUGS ARE COMING MAN! Definitely a job for the EDF. Earth Defense Force 4.1 is hitting next week on the 8th, and I am beyond excited. The airdrop class is pulling me hard, but Wing Diver is my shit. Fencer looks badass as well... TOO MANY AWESOME CHOICES! Sorry Fallout 4, time to get shelved.

Speaking of shelving that beast of a game, I've been taking a break from it occasionally with some Rainbow Six: Siege. While I recognize most folks issues with the game, I personally love it. Terrorist Hunt is a blast and the MP is a breath of fresh air. I will definitely be enjoying it for quite some?? time. On that note, let's play some games together.

Welcome to another spooktacular edition o?f Friday Night Fights! Hollowiener is upon us, and I'm excited to take my kiddos trick or treatin' and see some slutty costumes on moms. I had to miss Halloween last year due to surgery, so I'm really happy to be going this year. Plus I get to be Batman and my son is Robin. My daughter is an asshole (I know you're reading this) and refuses to be Catwoman, Harley or Poison Ivy. "I want to be a creams??icle." This is why I tell people you're adopted. Smh. What 13 year old wants to be a popsicle?

Moving on from crushing disappointment in my child, what spooky games are y'all playing? Playing any of them together? WEL??L YOU FUCKING SHOULD BECAUSE IT'S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS! ?WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

New to FNF? Read this! Each week, a bun?ch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It's a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!

The planning for FNF used to start in the forums, where community members signed up to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Gamertag, etc.). Now, every Monday, posts go up in the community blogs where you sign up and it's all kept up than?ks to a dedic??ated group of volunteers. I then recap it all here on Friday, on the front page to give it a bit more exposure.
