Jonathan Holmes is really good at Street Fighter

A little over a month ago, Destructoid collaborated with Disqus (the people behind our comment system) to bring you Dtoid NYC Game Night, a meetup of Dtoid staff, co??mmunity, and g??ame developers from in and around New York. And as history has proven time and again, you fine folks are just as fun in real life as you are online!

Over 125 Dtoiders and staff showed up for the fun, including Jonathan Holmes and Conrad Zimmerman. Holmes even won the Street Fighter II tournament! Amongst the chaos, eight awesome indie developers were on-hand to showcase their wares, and two of them (Simple Machines and Holy Wow Studios) even debuted their newest creations exclusively for the Dtoid audience! (Check out the full recap here!)

All in all, it was a roaring success, and I'm incredibly jealous I c?ouldn't attend. (Though I am rocking a new custom Dtoid Game Night USB drive. Now who's jealous?) Were you able to make it to the meetup? Let us know in the comments! Interested in seeing a similar event in your town? Make your presence known!

Until next time...

A sexy recap of all the things you people do

[Every month or so, we on the Dtoid Community Team throw together a round-up of everything happening in and around the community! We'll scour the C Blogs and Forums for awesome posts, recap our latest community playdates, highlight community podcasts, and give you the low-down on any NARPs you may have missed.]

It??'s winter here in the mighty USofA, and ??if you're like me, anything below 40 degrees means you're staying the hell indoors. Thankfully, the jbsgame.community is here to keep me company!

Dtoid had a wonderfully active month in the C Blogs, Foru??ms, "real world", and on the front page, so let's take a ??look at everything you've been up to!

COMMUNITY BLOGS
by Mr Andy Dixon, US Community Manager

Nine C Blogs received the front-page treatment since we last spoke! Between Bory Borham's in-depth analyses of the newest Metal Gear Solid trailers to ChillyBilly's story of compulsive collecting gone bad to TriplZer0's five stages of backlog grief to Cutie Honey's unique recap of the games he played in 2012, the sheer variety of the things you wonderful people are coming up with never ceases to amaze me. Without a doubt my favorite blog of the year had to be the CblogRecaps crew's 2012 highlight reel, though. If you haven't checked out this compilation of almost every quality blog writ??ten in 2012, you're missing out!

And speaking of missing out, if you're not up-to-date with all of our faptastic community podcasts... well, what the hell is wrong with you?! Check out all the aura?l badass?ness contained within these pages:

Awesome, right? Go give them ??a listen if you know what's good for?? ya!

Dtoid's Artists Wanted and Bloggers Wanted have both enjoyed an incredible turnout for their latest assignments, too. Dozens of you shared your favorite videogame moments of 2012 with us, and nine of you bared your souls for our "self portrait" art assignment. New editions of both are coming soon!

And that'??s it for the C Blogs! Thanks for all your hard work, everyone!

FORUMS, WE HAVE THEM
by Aaron "Mxy" Yost and Joanna "Zodiac Eclipse" Mueller, Forum Admins

It's a new year, and that means brand new lists of stuff Dtoiders consumed! In 2012, Dtoiders completed a total of 2,523 games. Digtastik has already started up the 2013 Completed Games thread, so get to listing! Remember, if you finish 25 or more games in a single year there's a nifty badge in it for you! For those interested in listing other forms of media, Tarvu's got you covered with the ??2013 Com?pleted Films, Books, and Television Shows thread.

The Forums version of Secret Santa has finished up! If you'd like to see what people got check out the Seacrest Santa 2012 thread.

Jon Bloodspray wants to know what your New Year's resolutions are. Mine?? are top secret, so then nobody else can give me shit when I fail them.

The Werewolf games on the Forums could use some more players, whether you're a veteran or a noob. Check out the thread for info on how to ??play or to look back at previous games!

MAGFest XI happened at the beginning of January! This was the first gaming con I have been able to attend, and it was an absolute blast getting to meet you guys! Changston deserves big props for taking the lead on organizing things this year. The next major US event is PAX East 2013?? from March 22??nd to 24th, and N7 has a thread up if you're planning on going!

Finally, don't forget that planning for Friday Night Fights starts in the Forums! If you're interested in hosting or joining a game with other Dtoiders, look for the weekly t??hreads for the platform you prefer and jump ?on in!

COMMUNITY PLAYDATES
by Spencer Hayes, Community Master

So as it sits I'd like to take this chance to re-educate everyone how Friday Night Fights work. "But Spencer" you might say, "didn't M. Randy Dixon just post an awesome guide a few days ago?" Shut up, sometimes it's best to reiterate ??things in rhyme. Let's do that:

There once was a website so fair
Destructoid, with robots on-air
They started a fight
On one special night
In which every member was there

The venues were non-exclusive
And the times were all inclusive
They did it up right
With no end in sight
Now we have fun everywhere

Alright,?? ??that fell apart but you guys get the idea. Go play games with your fellow community members! It's good for you.

NARPS
by Conor Elsea, Community Monster

As Mxy and Jo just mentioned, MAGFest happened!! Some other? things too... but mostly MAGFe??st! I wasn't able to attend, but I was tweeted at with pictures of crotches, so I'm guessing it was one hell of a party. If you went, you should share your stories in the comments!

Changston and TheTino (that right, Tino?) put together a NARP in central Jersey, but as of now, there's no Cblog an??d no pictur?es. These classy gents know a thing or two about NARPing, so it's a safe bet everyone had a great time.

Start planning your spring and summer NARPs now? pe?ople! Get out of them emailers and into the forums and cblogs to get as much exposure as possible. Let me know if you ever want help or suggestions! Andy and I may even be working on something for this summer, so stay tuned!

DTOID EUROPE
by Beccy Caine, European Community Manager

Last month marked Dtoid UK's annual DecNARP, from which I was sadly absent due to my being in the line of duty in the hospitality industry during the festive period. Woe. Luckily community members JJMcCallum, iceblight and TheToiletDuck were there to chronicle the weekend and they have a lovely write up over here. For an idea of w??hat they got up to, here's a? summary from JJMcCallum:

Wooden ties, enough alcohol to intoxicate a small village, five kilograms of me??at, a roast dinner, Power Rangers, hijacking of hashtags and the little hatted hobbit who just couldn't stand no more.

So there you have it. Head on over and give it a read! For the newbies amongst us or anybody in need of a reminder, planning for events such as this one happens in our forum thread or the Google Groups mailer. Come and say hi!

And that's it for this edition! Got any ideas for making this feature better? P?lease sound off in the comments!

Until next time! <3

November wa?s an insanely busy month, both for me personally and for the jbsgame.community as well! Babies were eaten, feasts were born, games were drunk, and people got played. No, really; it's true!

Read on to see the proof!

COMMUNITY BLOGS
by Mr Andy Dixon, US Community Manager

I didn't manage to Promote as many blogs in November as I'd have liked, and for that I am truly sorry. You see, I took some personal time this month to push a human child out of my vagina, and I was so excited leading up to the event and so tired afterwa?rds (and so confused as to wear this vagina came from), I just didn't have as much t??ime available to read the wonderful things you people wrote as I'd have liked. I suck, and I'm sorry :(

Thankfully, though, the two blogs I did manage to bring to the front page were wonderful. First up was crackedbat with his look back at all the things that surprised him over the course of the last generation. Check out his list and see if you felt the same way! And skirting in just under the wire was GlowBear's analysis of what it take??s ??to convey emotion properly in videogames. Thanks for the good writes, you two, and sorry a??gain to any that I may have missed!

My absence certainly didn't hurt the amount of Podcasts you people recorded, however! Thanks to the dedicated mic jockeys at the Cblog Fapcast, Communitoid, LowerTierPodcast, Pocketoid, Scary Granules, Secret Moon Base, Taco Tuesdays, Words of Crom, and ZeroCool, over 20 new?? community po??dcasts hit the airwaves this month -- thanks for keeping us all entertained, guys and gals!

And speaking of entertainment, eight of you brave souls shared your gorgeous faces with the world in the theme of your favorite videogame for this month's Artists Wanted assignment: Anaugi, anglorum, BeatBeat, KeithTheGeek, Kyle MacGregor, myherozero, Roberto Plankton, and rubenf! A full recap and your nex?t assignment w?ill be up early next week!

And that's it for this month in the cblogs! I can't wait to start promoting your Bloggers Wanted as?signments and anything else you may write in December! Keep up the great work, ??everyone!

FORUMS, WE HAVE THEM

Zodiac says:

This month we celebrated American Thanksgiving and in my household that entails cutting up a dead bird and revising our plans for the zombie apocalypse. In lieu of actual research I usually spend my time reading up on new zombie games like ZombieU. I'm told it's pretty much th?e bees knees in zombie simulation with a learning curve that will leave me glad real zombies haven't taken over (?yet).

Want to share stories of all the good eats you had last month, or the super noms you are planning for this one? Swing by our food and drink appreciation thread?? and te?ll us how deep frying makes everything better. (Also, bacon.)

Fans of Telltale's The Walking Dead had their hearts ripped still beating from their chests and firmly curb-stomped this month with the release of the final episode of season one. You can find a shoulder to cry on over in The Walking Dead announcement thread.

Finally, with the holidays fast approaching now is the time to find amazing deals on games and gear. When you find those deals don't just horde all the joy to yourself, share the gift of cheap gaming in our bargain bin.

Mxy says:

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale came out, and surprisingly Sony's answer to Super Smash Bros. ended up being pretty good! This month also saw the release of Hitman: Absolution, which is apparently about killing sexy nuns. Oh yeah, and Nintendo released a shiny new console if you want to exchange Nintendo IDs with other Dtoiders.

Since the year is wrapping up, now would be a good time to update your list of completed books, TV shows, and movies and your completed games for 2012!

NARPS
by Conor Elsea, Community Monster

November gave us a couple good NARPS, by the way of BaltiNARP in the D.C./Batlitmore area and Dtoid Thanksgiving up in Seattle. Both these events went really well, fun times were had, and one of the hosts' children walked into a room were three men were mooning a Kinect sensor in hopes of sending their asses? to my television screen. They failed.

Dtoider Changston is having a dinner party in New Jersey on Saturday, December 15th, at 4:00 PM. If I was closer I would go purely on the chance that he might cook something, because that guy makes amazing edibles. If you want to attend, contact Changston via PM in the Forums, or in the Dtoid NY Google group!

As we go through the long, cold winter, it's important to remember that you can NARP any time of year! I??f you has plans for something, or want advice, suggestions, or help with a NARP, let me know!

COMMUNITY PLAYDATES
by Spencer Hayes, Community Monster

So, this is a month in whi?ch I actually get to post something different. I'm more than a l??ittle excited for this so buckle up.

Halo happened!

So, yeah that's about it. We played the ba-jeezus out of some Halo 4. It was a good time to be had by all, but it can be made even better. That's right, I'm calling for more Halo. Let's make it happen everybody.

Anyway, see you guys next month.

DTOID EUROPE
by Beccy Caine, European Community Manager

This time I'm passing you over to community member and mainland European head honcho mistic, who's going to tell you about the NARP held in Essen,? Belgium last month!

Dtoid Europe hosted one of their smaller EuroNARPs to bridge the gap between their 'BIG' editions in July and February. We started on Friday 2nd November and kept on going 'til noon on the 4th. Once again, the weekend was a huge success! Our one-price-for-everything (45 euros for three days of unlimited beer, energy drinks and f??ood) is working really well and results in a huge three-day drinking orgy spiced up with endless bo??uts of gaming.

We rebuilt our racing area, so we now have a dual-racing setup for PC with a triple screen setup and a 32" setup for the other PC (you can see Strikeman and Undergod racing their wheels off in the picture). Next to this we have a dedicated Xbox 360 racing setup which was mostly used for Forza Horizon this weekend. Apart from lots of racing, most of our efforts were dedicated to Trials Evolution, Wrecked and various co-op and versus games.

Modern Warfare 3 on PS3 wa??s once again a huge favourite. We're up to level 34 with 4 different characters purely on local splitscreen play! On Saturday we also had our customary BBQ, with Strikeman at the helm.

The weekend was over too soon and we're now looking forward?? to our winter edition in Februa?ry!

Thanks, mistic!

An?d that's it for November??! Got any ideas for making this feature better? Please sound off in the comments!

Until next month <3

A sexy recap of all the things you people do

[Every month, we on the Dtoid Community Team throw together a round-up of everything happening in and around the community! We'll scour the cblogs and forums for awesome posts, recap our latest community playdates, highlight community podcasts, and give you the low-down on any NARPs you may have missed.]

Podcasts and werewolves and NARPs, oh my!

October saw Dtoid relaunch with a ton of fun new features, we brought you some great contests, you played a bunch of awesome games together, ??and more! All in all, you were quite the busy little community this month!

Hit the jump to see everything that went down!

COMMUNITY BLOGS
by Mr Andy Dixon

It was another wonderful month in the Dtoid Cblogs!

You managed to pump out eight Promoted Blogs this month, which is absolutely amazing. vApathyv's blog about alcohol abuse was even shared by the people at Rockstar, and Revuhlooshun's open letter to Capcom was one of our most widely-read s??tories of the month, cblog or otherwise. Keep up the great work, people!

When you weren't writing brilliant editorials, you stayed just as busy by recording the 16 18 Community Podcasts you bestowed upon us this month. There were three from Secret Moon Base, one from TheFilterPodcast, one from Q and A Gaming, three from Taco Tuesdays, two from Words of Crom, one from Pocketoid, one from Scary Granules, one from the Lower Tier Podcast, one from some dude named Jonathan Holmes, two from the folks on the Cblog Fapcast team, and two from your friends over at Communitoid. HOLY SHIT that's a lot to listen to!

Equally impressive was the amount of work that went into your Artists Wanted submissions this month. Panzadolphin56, OLYJNS, noobspoon, Roberto Plankton, Anaugi, and Iacopo Donati all created fantastic pieces of art for the "Crossover" topic; I c??an't wait to see what you all come up with for this month's assignment, "Self Portrait"!

I've been a bit lax lately on keeping up with the weekly Community Blog Roundup, and for that I apologize. I promise it'll be back soon! Thankfully, the sexy Dtoiders on the CblogRecaps team don't know the meanin??g of the word "lazy", and they're still hard at work every day of the week archiving every little thing you people write. Let's give them all a hand! *claps*

Despite how awesome everything above was, my favorite trend this month had to be all the Halloween-themed goodness you people came up with. Between this spooky threesome of blogs by nekobun, the Halloween specials recorded by Secret Moon Base and Taco Tuesdays, Wrenchfarm's tribute to masks, Steven Hansen's tips for surviving the spookiest? night of the year, and Swishiee's special edition of Team Fortress 2sdays, Michael Myers' birthday wa??s truly?? a treat this year. Thanks for keeping us entertained!

FORUMS, WE HAVE THEM
by Aaron "Mxy" Yost and Joanna "Zodiac Eclipse" Mueller

Mxy says:

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween! Show off pics of your awesome costume with the rest of the community in the COSTUMETOID thread!

This month we had some big releases such as steampunk stealth murder game Dishonored and Revolutionary War stealth murder game Assassin's Creed III. If you'd rather shoot bad guys in the face rather than sneak up and slit their throats, Halo 4 just released and Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be coming out soon! Kickstarter-funded space sim FTL also came out a while? back, and apparently nobody actually w??ants to talk about the game on the Forums.

For those who want to take a trip down memory lane, VG_Addict wants to know about your favorite Obscure PS1 Gems and Obscure Genesis Gems.

November is National Novel Writing Month according to whoever decides these things, and Mecegirl has started the Nanowrimo 2012 thread for any aspiring writers who are up to the challeng??e!

The holidays are fast approaching, which means it's Secret Santa time! If you want to participate ??this year, be sure to hit the thread soon to sign up. But if you're going to be a lamer who never sends out a gift, don't bother. Because y?ou suck and make Baby Jesus cry.

Zodiac says:

Mxy already picked all the good threads. Guess I'll just go listen to some sweet new Communitoid and play videogames.

NARPS
by Conor Elsea

It's sometime between 4 and 7 am and I'm sitting in a hotel because our real estate agent screwed up and we can't move into our house yet. I don't even think anyone else on the community team remembered to ??do this, but I'm a bit drunk and can't sleep, so here's what's happening!

Have you been to MAGFest?  If not, you're fucking up your life. Fix that this year! Go to the planning thread and get the ball rolling! MAGFest is one hell of a time, and with the musical guests having just been announced, now is the time to get on it.

If you'd rather wait a couple months to get your Dtoid partying on, PAX East is your next bet. The Forums have a planning thread for that amasexing weekend alr??eady running, so go check it out!

Looking for something sooner? Check out Dtoid Baltimore/DC's BaltiNARP! There's history there people. I've partied with a lot of the people that will be in attendance, and I can tell you that you will not be let down. That's coming up this weekend, November 9th, 10th, and 11th, so make plans with due haste. Check it out here!

Or, if you're stuck out on the west coast and can make it to the San Francisco area on November 10th, you can see one of our alumni, R3Y GUTI3RR3Z DJing at a Destructoid dance party! If I wasn't in the middle of this stupid-ass move, I would already have m??y flight booked and spot reserved. If you go, party hard for me, kiddies.

If it's the holidays you're thinking of, Mr. Gobbldigook is still hard at work planning a Dtoid Thanksgiving! It's (tentatively) scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Seattle, but stay tuned to that forum thread, because it could change. It'll b??e at Panamusica's house, who is the raddest of dudes. I'm nothing less than positive it'll be a night to remembe??r. And I know a thing or two about nights to remember. I've forgotten almost all of them.

May his Noodliness forgive me if I've forgotten any??thing. Hit me up if you're planning anything in the future, wa??nt advice or help on throwing your own NARP, or just want to tell me how sexy I am. Until next time, be good people.

So, October happened. You know what else happened? Playdates. That's right, myself and the rest of the community's parents drug people around and watched them awkwardly fall around in the playpen with the other kids. Wait, it's not that kind of playdate? Damn... I guess we did have other ones of the more virtual variety.

Every week we have two scheduled playdates: Team Fortress 2sday on Tuesdays and Friday Night Fights on Fridays. I know the naming scheme is complicated but try to keep up. This month we had each of these literally every week. If that's not?? consistency, I don't know wha??t is.

Sadly, that's all the Playdates news I have for this month. If you're interested in jumping into the upcoming events we have a brutal Halo-themed murder-fest coming up on the 9th. You know, if y?ou like gam??es with murder and whatnot.

See you guys next month.

DTOID EUROPE
by Beccy Caine

October was another busy month for the Brits, with yet another two gaming events to keep us occupied. First up was the GameCity 7 festival in Nottingham, a nine-day celebration of grassroots gaming and indie culture. Brandon Boyer's Venus Patrol Training Facility saw people of all ages and backgrounds trying out gaming gems such as Mega GIRP, Johann Sebastian Joust and PoleRiders. We discovered quite quickly that there's something rather disconcerting about children playing sumo wrestling Move game Get on Top as they cheer without fail at every sickening crunch signaling that the loser has broken their neck. I may also have video footage of community member iceblight playing Proteus in frog boss mode i.e. on a tram?po?line. (Will sell to the highest bidder.)

GameCity also treated us to a whole host of speakers, ranging from Leigh Alexander to Kieron Gillen, covering topics such as video game preservation and experimental design culture. My personal highlight would have to be the ethereal Proteus demo given by creators Ed Key and David Kanaga, leaving fellow developer and attendee Rami Ismail and I speechless. If you know either of us, you will u??nderstand that this is no mean feat.

I've attended GameCity for several years, but it never felt like anything to write home about until now. It's gained a real sense of legitimacy in recent years and has come to encapsulate everything I love about indie culture and video games as a whole. Consider this a hearty recommendation to drop ??by next year if you're in the area.

The London Comic Con MCM Expo couldn't be a more different event, but if comics, cosplay, gaming, "celebrities" and all things Asia are your thing, this is the event for you. The gaming presence at the expo was relatively light in comparison to, say, the cosplay, but developers such as Square Enix, Ubisoft and Namco Bandai were in attendance, with Dtoid alumnus Hollie Bennett walking us though Ni no Kuni. The ever-talented AceFlibble, my stalwart photography companion for the weekend, has uploaded his photos from the event, while you can expect to see a gallery from me soon. (Spoiler: There's a Wo?lverine holding a pug in a dress.)

And that's it for October! Got any ideas for making this feature better? Please sound off in th?e comments!

Until next month <3

Destructoid has an awesome fucking community. Whether we're chatting it up online, gaming together during the week, or meeting up and grabbing a beer on the weekend, there's always something going on worthy of note.

In that spirit, we on the Dtoid Community Team have thrown together this monthly round-up of everything happening in and around the community! We'll scour the cblogs and forums for awesome posts, recap our latest community playdates, highlight community podcasts, and give you the low-dow??n?? on any NARPs you may have missed.

Fun? FUN! ?Now hit the jump ?to see what happened in September!

September was certainly a busy month in the CblogsBorderlands 2, the Wii U, gender issues SEX... you people covered it all!

Most notably, this was probably the best month for Promoted Bogs we've had in as long as I can remember! Between the homages you paid to videogame's superfans and the father of the Game Boy, three wonderful PAX blogs, and more, eleven of you had your hard work rewarded with front page tre?atment this month (that's one every 2.72727272727 days)! So give yourselves some hearty slaps on the back f?or a job well done!

We also saw seven new episodes of some of the best Dtoid Community Podcasts in September from the cool guys and gals over at the Secret Moon BaseZeroCoolPodcast, and TheFilterPodcast! If you aren't listening to these talented groups? of Dtoiders every week, your ears are missing out!

On top of all this, we on the community team launched a new weekly Community Blog Roundup feature this month, where we build upon the hard work being done by the dedicated Dtoiders on the CblogRecaps crew and highlight notable community blogs on the front page. Just because your blog didn't get promoted doesn't mean it doesn't deserve an hono??rable mention, after all!

As awesome as all that was, after all's said and done I think my personal favorite blog for September had to be LogicallyDashing's i?nterview of Dtoid founder? Niero. Be sure to check it out for a peek behind our robot overlord's sexy curtain! And be sure ??to keep up the great work in October, everyone!

Mxy says:

Game threads, we have them! The Resident Evil 6 demo recently came out, and popular opinion in the Forums seems to be that Capcom has infected the game ??with the "meh" virus.

If you're looking for a sequel with a little less disapointment, check out Borderlands 2! Who am I kidding, you've pro?bably been running around the des??ert collecting lock boxes for a week now.

I honestly didn't know much about Dark Souls? before writing this, but according to the trailer I just watched you go around kil?ling creepy monster things with swords and/or fireballs. I can approve of that.

Speaking of killing creepy monster things with swords and/or fireballs, Torchlight II just came out and people are super jazzed! I'd probably be super jazzed too, but I only just picked u?p the first game in the last Humble Bundle.

The long-awaited Half-Life mod Black Mesa has been released! Finally you can replay the first adventure of everyone's favorite goatee-??rocking PhD i??n cart-pushing and crowbar combat, now with shinier graphics!

For today's "Thread I thought I'd have to delete at first glance but then it turned out to be awesome", we have The Hottest Teen??ager You Know - Dreamcast T?urns 13! Take a seat right over there and give your age-approp??riate love for Sega's console swan song!

Zodiac says:

Our friends over the pond just had their big gaming convention of the year, Eurogamer. If you wanna hear about all the fun you missed or exchange pictures with them check out the Eurogamer thread over in the NARPs section.

While you're there be sure to give a shout out to the folks in the MAGfest thread to get in on the group rate badge order and book yourself?? a space in the Dtoid block of rooms for the event. Never made it to a MAGfest myself, but I hear it's the bee's knees.

Finally, with the sacred tradition of All Hallow's Eve?? encroaching upon us I feel the need to direct your attention to some threads that will keep you up at nigh??t:

The Forums edition of Werewolf is still going strong. What better way?? to convince yourself that everyone is out to kill you than to play a game where everyone is, in fact, out to kill you? (Except the people that are totally not werewolves, totally?)

If backstabbing and deduction aren't your thing then there is always Dtoid's classic Horror thread where you can talk about all your favorite slasher flicks, scary stories, and things that go bump in the night.
Still not scared? Want your terror in quick, meaty chunks? Sounds like somebody is ready for someNightmare Fuel. Share?? all the creepiest pics, videos, and short stories the internet has to offer with your fellow Fo?rumnites. This is one of my current favorite lurk spots right now; make me live to regret that.

PAX, the time of year when a young man's fancy turns to love. This year was an absolute blast. Or, at least I was blasted. I was there all of a day-and-a-half, and half of that I was? blacked out. From what I hear though, a great time was had by all, and no one got pregnant.

What I was present for was awe??some enough that it kept me awake for over 30 hours and drinking for 18 of those. I know you scoundrels: you kept it up like that all weekend. My night d?isappeared sometime after I was doing shots with some blonde British girl. Next thing I knew I woke up on someone's couch something like 15 blocks away. I'd lost my hat, my keys, and my dignity, but damned if I didn't have a good time.

Unsurprisingly, all of this month's NARPage revolved around PAX. People crashing other members' residences tends to happen when a ton of Dtoiders end up in one place. A perfect example of this hospitality can be seen from knutaf, who had people at his house for most of the week. He was even nice enough to not yell at me when I was making a mess shotgun?ning beers on his patio. At like noon.

IcarusKills had people over for fun in the sun on his rooftop! Amazingly, no one fell to their death. I think. I wasn't there and people can keep secrets very well when death is involved. Anyway, you can check out some pictures of that and many more in this awesome photo blog from Meanderbot.

A pre-PAX grill-stravaganza was had by Panamusica. He invited pretty much everybody to stop by his place before PAX on Thursday afternoon for food and frosty beverages. Let me tell you, that guy can grill. He and his family were amazingly hospitable to all that showed up. Also, you may have seen him as the Mr. Destructoid with the young son that was present during the panel and saw that sneak peak video when he probably should have. Sadly, I can't find any pictures of the cookout, but here's Panamusica(right) and Mr.?? ??Gobbldigook brofisting, apparently about 9 drinks past sobriety.

All in all it was?? an amazing w??eekend.  But hey, at this point do we really expect any less from Destructoid?

Here's what I know about the future, aside from the fact that my sex life is just going to go downhill since I hit 30. Right now Panamusica and Mr. Gobbldigook are planning a Destructoid Thanksgiving!  You might want to check this out if you live in the Pacific Northwest. Provided I don't get st?uck dealing with scabby meth addi??cts at my day job, I will definitely be there!

Pl??anning NARPs in the future? Know of any events you think should get mentioned? &??nbsp;Let me know!

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if you’re reading this you are probably aware of our crazy system of Community Playdates. If for some reason you’re deathly allergic to playing with your fellow Dtoiders you better ready your EpiPen as I’m about to blast you wit??h so much second-hand fun you’ll end up in the hospita??l.

Every week throughout September we’ve hosted two glorious meetings a week: Team Fortress 2sdays and Friday Night Fights. Taking place on our “fancy-as-hell server machine” on Tuesday nights, we’ve developed quite the little Team Fortress 2 community. You’ll have to check it out. On Friday nights different community members offer to host some of their favorite games and make them open to join by the community. Xbox 360PlayStation 33DSPC -- it’s a bit like? having an internet-wide block party every single week.

Try not to get murdered.

Welcome, Bienvenue, Wilkommen, Bienvenido. (For the Americans amongst us, that's ju??st the same word four tim??es.)

The European convention season is just about wrapping up, and what a season it's been. August saw the world's biggest trade show, the infamous gamescom, held in Cologne once again. We had a handful of Dtoiders in attendance, but as everyone who went is lame and didn't write or do anything for me to link to, we're going to move swiftly on. Fix up! That said, the lovely Dan Carneiro did a beautiful video fo??cusing on two indie developers in attendance and it's well worth ch??ecking out.

Speaking of Dan, he also participated in the Adventure Time Game Jam with Dtoid's own Jake Clarke and Justice, so if that's your thing, give it a try and let them know what you think.

I've had twenty hours of sleep since Wednesday and I'm falling asleep on my keyboard, so that can only mean that I'm fr?esh out of this year's Eurogamer Expo. In the words of Thor, "We fought, we drank, we made our ancestors proud." Keep an eye out for our foam Mjölnir emblazoned with Destructoid stickers!

This year's activities saw us attending an obscene amount of developer sessions and playing the odd game here and there. Mainly Luftrausers, which I am moderately good at. We also abducted Vlambeer's Rami Ismail for the weekend and gorged ourselves on pizza. Outside of the expo, we caught a showing ofLooper (you should watch it), attended the StickTwiddler's afterparty in aid of SpecialEffect (you should support them), and drank cocktails (you should join us next time). The awfully talented AceFlibble has already uploaded his photos ??from the ?expo, putting mine to shame in both quality and turnaround time. Jerk!

A huge shout out to community member iceblight for his overwhelming hospitality in putting up and wining and dining everybody in a ten-mile radius. He does this on a regular basis and it's safe to ??say that without his input the Eurogamer Expo would be a mere shadow of what it means to all o??f us.

Thanks to everyone for reminding me why we're the best regional group. (Don't you start, DtoidS??F.) Until next time, folks. [A small PSA to everyone planning on attending MCM Expo: Don't.]

And that's it for September! Got any ideas for making this feature better? Please sound off in the c?omments!

Until next month <3

Did you know that Destructoid has dozens of regional groups spanning multiple continents? Did you know that Dtoid NARPs (No Apparent Reason Parties) are a long-standing tradition in our community, where Dtoiders from all walks of life get together to play videogames and enjoy each other's good company? Did you know this stuff probably exists right next door to you?!

You didn't?! Silly Dtoid?er! Hit the jump to find out? how you can get more involved!

Hugs are kind of a thing we do.

While our community groups have been a Dtoid mainstay for over half ?a decade now, the thing we've heard from the group leaders as of late is that most of the regional groups have been internalized into emailers and Google Groups. While these are a great way to keep people in the loop when they get busy or life gets in the way, the entire purpose of th??e NARP groups and the idea of community gets lost if they become the sole method of communication.

We're saddened by the idea that someone new may join us and never know that there are other users or an established group in their area. To that end, we're suggestnig a reboot of sorts! Obviously there are some groups that maintain a fairly active presence on the site, and that's fantastic! Keep doing what you're doing. Others, though, haven't been updated in months or even years. In those cases, this is where we ask you to do your part.

We need new people to step up to the plate. More people in the community blogs making or resurrecting regional groups. Regional forum threads. Anything and everything. We want all of you to know if you are?? near each other, to optimize the amount of DtoidfunhugfestNARPgoodness you're ??having!

We're looking for people or groups of people that can establish or re-establish regional groups and update them about once a month. I've led a regional group myself (Midwest) and I can tell you that it was one of the most r?ewarding experiences I've ever had. You'??ll meet a ton of people, and with a little bit of work create groups of friends that otherwise may not have come to be.

Along with this, we on the Dtoid Community Team are re-committing ourselves to giving the NARP groups the kind of front page attention they deserve. We'll be highlighting meetups as they happen (like this awesome rafting trip? from last month) and recapping the events afterwards so everyone who didn't go can see the fun they're missing out on.

So, sound like something you mi?ght be interested in? Good! Since PAX is soon, why not take advantage of what is traditionally the largest gathering of Destructoid members every year and t??alk about this! Go meet new people and find out who's in your area. And who knows? Maybe a new group will be born!

However you discuss or think about it, if you decide you want to be more involved in the community and have questions about how to get involved, contact us at the Dtoid Community Team (community AT destructoid DOT com). We're happy to answer any questions you have or offer any advice on how to get the ball rolling. Or if you just want to jump right in, go make a community blog and forum thread and see who might be around you! Wh??atever you do, be sure and let us know about any upcoming events so we can spread the word.

I'll offer any help I can to get you started, but the key is just to meet up and have fun. So good luck, and be ex??cellent to each other!

From October 28-30 (this weekend) the MCM Expo in London will be taking place. Held twice a year at the Exce??l centre in the Docklands, this event is usually a huge mass of cosplayers, anime and some content from games.

However, as the convention has gained popular??ity over the years, the focus on games has increased. This year there are some really fun games being shown, so if you missed out on Eurogamer Expo or if you just fancy having a nerdy day out then make sure you get yourself along to MCM E??xpo.

The games that will be there this year include:

  • Assassins Creed: Revelations
  • Asura's Wrath
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Dragonball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2
  • Mario Kart 7
  • Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations
  • Ninja Gaiden 3
  • Rayman Origins
  • Saints Row The Third
  • Skyward Sword
  • Soulcalibur V
  • Street Fighter X Tekken
  • The Darkness II

There will be lots of others in ad??dition to the games above, including some indie developers too! So you can spend a good day playing some exciting new releases, with the possible added benefit of cosplaying eye-candy -- no guarantees though...

Warning! This event is rather popular so in order to avoid queuing (meaning: missing out on some swag and all the free hugs you just know you want) make sure you rock up before 11am to buy your day tickets. Or you can buy early entry tickets in advance from the MCM website. Note: the standard entry tickets cannot be purchased in adva??nce.

So hey, if you're tempted but afraid to venture into the grand hall of nerdiness by yourself, then have no fear! Dtoiders are going too. I will be attending on Saturday and I know there has been interest in the forums. Make your?self known and w??e can arrange a meeting plan. I also strongly propose beer (or another form of satisfying drink) after as it is a pretty mental day.

For more information go to the main website.

If you live in Europe and are not part of the emailer, then why not? We're nice people, honest...

So yeah... Anime and Beer??? (Also, cocks.) Sounds like a good weekend. See you there!!

All over the world, Dtoid community members gather to hold NARPs (No Apparent Reason Parties) to get to know each other outside of the internet. Well, the community team here at Destructoid wants to make it a bit easier for everyone to gather and have made a page at Meetup.jbsgame.com! On this site, you can make a profile and keep track of the major community gatherings planned by Destructoid. Events suc?h as PAX, Magfest, and the EuroNARP will be planned on this site that has features such as a calendar allowing for an easy way to see what's going on.

As part of this experience, we have also opened up a Meetup Everywhere page. This aspect of the Meetup experience is community ??focused and exists to make it easier for you to plan your own meetups. Always jealous of the NARPs you read about on the front page? With this part of the site its now even easier to throw your own gath??erings!

So check out those?? two sites, and if you have any questions read below for our constantly updated FAQ!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a City Group and what do they do?

- Destructoid's community is ??one of the most awesome gaming communities - now worldwide! Not only do we hang out on the chat, forums, Twitch.tv channel, and c-blogs, but we also make a point to meet up in real life. Our love of community is what brought about the Destructoid City Groups. These groups are run by the community in areas such as San Francisco, New York, Austraila and the Midwest.

These groups gather together whenever possible to hold NARPs, also known as No Apparent Reason Parties, as seen here, or get together to go to events such as Magfest, PAX, or the famous EuroNARP.

Sounds great, but there doesn't seem to be a City Group near me. What now, brown cow?

- That's part of the joy of our Meetup Everywhere page. If a city group doesn't exists that you want to join, feel free to start your own and invite your friends! You can use Meetup Everywhere to plan your events and spread the word to those who would be interested in joining! Let people know in the forums, c-blogs, and spread the word on Twitter/Facebook/Google+!  You'll be surprised how easy it is to meet people once you sign up, and we'll be writing about events worldwide to help people find your events. Tag your group as #destructoid and it will appear on the map.

I'm thinking about holding a NARP at home....what should I do?

- First of all, we recommend you start small.  Don't throw a 100 person spontaneous house party for strangers.  That is definitely not the point of a NARP.  We want to help people find like-minded people and bring them together: the pur?pose is small, tight groups where everyone knows and trusts each other. Less is definitely more. If you work up your way to hundreds of people, great!  We'll likely fly Mr. Destructoid out to meet you all someday!

Many of the Destrutoid city group started out as a house parties, and those are great ways to have a good time with out too much planning. But there are definitely things to consider when deciding on holding a house gathering. Make sure to use common sense with your belongings and always remember to be mindful of things such as noise complaints. Just because our community is awesome doesn't mean a raging psychopath can't show up and murder your family (tee hee).  Use common sense, silly.  If you have any doubts ??just meet at public places first.

With that said, have a great time! Open up a forum and ask your meetup members what games they like most.  At our meetups in San Francisco food and drinks are always a good way to keep the party going strong, and crowd inclusive games like Rock Band and Dance Central are usually a hit. Knowing our community, nothing beats bringing out a retro gaming system and playing games such as Mario Kart or Power Stone.  Also, you're going to want t??o include gam?es where guys can beat each other's faces in and shoot each other in the face.  Family entertainment!

Where do I upload my NARP photos?

- You did take photos, right?  We want to hear about it! There are plenty of ways you can share them with us: when you create a Group you can upload photos.  To post them on our site just write up a c-blog/forum post about your event, take lots of pictures and add them to Picasa tagged as "Destructo??id", or even upload some videos to youtube and let u??s know about them! We love seeing how the community gets together and might even talk about it on the front page!

How do I get my NARP promoted?

- Every month we try to let the community at large know what NARPs are going on around the world. This means we'll be checking our WorldWide page where you'll be posting your own events.  If you are planning a NARP, and want to promote it to all of Destructoid, post about it on the Meetup Everywhere page, and let us know at community@jbsgame.com. That way we can try to make sure that the greater Dtoid community is aware of what is being planned.

I already have a gaming Meetup.com group.  Can I just call it a Destructoid group?

- Fine by us!  Just tag it #destructoid and it will show up on our map.

Is this for singles?  OMG what should I wear?

- Romances have been the byproduct of these meetups, yes.  We don't make any guarantees though. More importantly, unlike your co-workers most people present will understand your obscure Penny Arcade references. Though, as pictured above, it will most likely be a bunch of unpretentious dudes.  Just shower before arriving, plz!

What can Destructoid do for my group?  Do I get free shit?

We're definitel?y wanting to send the most active groups some love packages in the future.  Look for group competitions and challenges in the coming weeks as we get this party started.  For now ?all we can offer is to give your group awareness and bring awesome people your way.  We definitely want to get feedback from our group leaders on what their needs are after their first NARPS, so be in touch!  community@jbsgame.com.

Thanks for reading, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask in the comments and we can keep this post updated with answers to your questions!

Oh hi, everyone!

If you live in the Los Angeles area and want to have an awesome day hanging out with some great jbsgame.community members and see SOME OF THE CUTEST ANIMALS YOU WILL EVER SEE, come and join DtoidLA at the L.A. Zoo tomorrow (Saturday, May 7th) at 11:00 AM! You'll even get to meet some of the animals that correctly predicted last year's E3!

We are all meeting in front of the main gates. If you hav??e never been to a DtoidLA event before and don't know anyone, you can use my avatar as a way of recognizing me. I will also be the guy that is obnoxiously loud and jumping up and down in excitement. JRo will also be there, and he will be loudly complaining about the lack of capybaras.

And if all else fai?ls, just look for a large group of people playing 3DSes. I hope you can make it!

If?? you have any questions abo??ut the event, just drop me a line at chad@jbsgame.com.

And, if you are on the fence about going, just know this: THEY HAVE CHURRO SUNDAES!

Yeah.

Capcom Unity and Dtoiders alike came out to Dolores Park in San Francisco this past weekend where many confused hipsters witnessed the lot of us playing Super Street Fighter IV on the 3?DS. We teamed up with the king of fighting game franchises because we're all about bringing communities together. Plus the thought of free pizza wa??s way too enticing!

We had a great turnout for the afternoon of fighting, all of which was captured on our Justin.TV stream. Yes, nothing more exciting then watching a bunch of people play on a handheld system over the Internet! Congratulations go out to Jason for winning the Super Street Fighter IV tournament we held and earning? himself the M. Bison limited edition trophy and a Mr. Destructoid bobble??head.

Many thanks to everyone that came out from both communities, Capcom for being so awesome and J Eckert for all the photos. Special thanks to chiptune artist Crashfaster who cam?e by and gave away h??is brand new CD to the crowd too!

We're definitely going to be doing more of these meetups in the future. Join the San Francisco emailer to keep up to date with all that's going on with the jbsgame.community or check out one of these other worldwide groups to be part of the fun.

[Destructoid Europe, lead by mistic, had one of their giant parties a couple weeks ago in their infamous party location 'Teh Lair'. Read on for a recap of the weekend's events, and information on their upcoming party this summer! - JRo]

What a weekend!

I left my home on Thursday, February 17th, at 8am, after getting up at 6am and loading the car. Made my way to Teh Lair for what would become another legenday NARP. I finally made it there at 10am and started unpacking immediately. Lots of stuff had to be done -- our first task was to clear out the chimney which had become blocked?? with soot from years of use during all?? our other winter parties...

Next I had to completely reorganise the main room to make space for 2 extra seats. This, as always, resulted in a hu??ge mess...

Around 2am in the morn??ing, I called it quits and went to sleep on one of our couches. I got up at 8am again to prepare for the arrival of Po0ky and Rex. We quickly cleared out Po0ky's car so we could go have breakfast at a local bread-place.

Once back, we flew at our work again - the first guests would be arriving at 6pm with more materials, so we had to be done with our own stuff. Two hours before the start we were good as done, so we decided to fill up the white wall behind the main TV with our new Narped-Logo:

And the classic Dtoid-shirt-design:

At 6pm we 'officially' opened the NARP:

One thing of which I'm quite proud is the sheer amount of systems we always manage to get together. This time we had 11 active TVs/monitors with close to 23 active consoles attached to them in one single room. Thanks to this, we got some cool comparisons going:

During the years we've been doing this, a number of classics have emerged, the most important clearly being "Mashed - Polar Wharf - Chaos Powerups & Airstrikes" on the old Xbox. There is not a single game that even comes close to the mount of playtime this game has gotten over the years, and it NEVER gets old.

Since we were doing a three day event, we did everything we could to make decent food available for all of our visitors. We had breakfast everyday, and a celebratory dinner on saturday for my birthday.

After the breakfast interlude, we threw ourselves at our games again ASAP :-)

Bhuub playing some Virtua Cop on the SEGA Saturn:

No comments needed for this one (since they're on the pic):

On Saturday after our dinner, Viersee and Smis arrived, bringing along a Fanatec GT3 RS-wheel and RennSport Wheelstand so we could all "test its durability":

This caused a slight "rift" in the container as the people in the racing-area were playing NFS:HP while the people near the Fanatec-wheel were playing the more 'serious' WRC3 :-)

After that the biggest battle of the weekend broke out on the classic XBOX with an all-time-classic, 4vs4 HALO1. We connected the old XBOX's using SCART-cables to 32" HDTV's, which gave a glorious pixel-soup to play in :-)

They might've been the last to arrive, but they were also the last to stop gaming in the morning:

Keep an eye on our Google Group and blog to fin??d out more about EuroNARP4 on the weekend of July 15th, 2011!

With rumors of PAX UK flying around over the last fe??w days, it is great news to announce that another UK-based gaming convention will be ta??king place. London GamingCon will be happening in Holloway Road, London, November 26th and 27th.

Unlike other events where the f??ocus is mainly ??on gaming news and releases, London GamingCon is a fan run event that looks to simply bring fans together to do what we do best -- play games. London GamingCon will feature tournaments and gaming zones for handheld, retro, LAN, fighting, Dance Dance Revolution and table top, as well as guests, talks, parties, exhibitors and live music with the event running from 11:00am to 1:00am.

Naturally Dtoid Europe will be in attendance, and I actively encourage you all to attend, especially if you are already a part of Dtoid Europe, or someone who just wants to meet up with some awesome Internet friends. These events are the perfect place to meet like-minded people, and tickets for London GamingCon are available from their website with discounts for buying in advance; all attendees must?? b??e over 18.

I hope you find some redeeming value in this thing. At the very least, I bet it will make you feel better about yourself in a r??elative sense.

It's no secret that Destructoid is composed of one of the most vibrant gaming communities out there. There are a ton of ways for you all to interact on the site through the forums, blogs, comments and so much more, but sometimes that's not enough. This is where the NARPs (short for No Apparent Reason Parties) come?? into play.

NARPs are when we can get together and hang out in person rather than just in a digital space. We go on trips, go to restaurants, go to PAXs and of course, play vi??deogames! There are over a dozen city based groups that you can be a part of, from San Francisco to everything in between New York. Beyond America, we also have Canada, Australia and Europe regional groups of their own, all of which is detailed below.

Dtoid New York -- Managed by power-glove

Hello New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut! This is the Dtoid New York calling out to all people in these three states. We hail from the Southern tip of New Jersey, to NYC, to the great state of Connecticut and we want you to join us for all of the wonderful bro-tivities that we have going on. We have plenty of fun doing small events like random parties and karaoke gatherings. We also do bigger events like the New York Comic-Con and Blipfest (featuring our bleeping Chiptunes scene) as w?ell. Although we are primarily based in NYC, we are always willing to hang out with the New Jersey and Connecticut crowd too.

Awesome places that Dtoid NY li??kes to frequent are the prominent arcade Chinatown Faire, the local hipster hot spot Barcade, the crazy toy store Toy Tokyo, and the New Jersey retro game store known as Digital Press.

Please say he??llo and join our Google Group e-mailer discussions. We have nearly 100 members that are constantly active with the most messages of any other Dtoid City Google Group. The Group is where we do most of our planning ?and all ideas for future events are welcome or could use it to just chat with us as well.

Remember, Dtoid New York is the only place where you can exp??erience KittenNegro, Fistbumps, The Wall, Tummysticks, ATV Trails, Banksota, CakesterFan007, and the Guantanamo Basement.

Dtoid Los Angeles -- Managed by Jonathan Ross (blurb by Dexter345)

Live in the Los Angeles area? Love games? Join DtoidLosAngeles! Home to E3 and several development studios, Los Angeles is a gamin?g mecca of sorts. Among the millions of people in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, we are?? a group of people who all share common interests; namely, we love games and we're not afraid to meet new people. We get together at least every couple months, usually at somebody's house, for games and drinks and more games (and sometimes more drinks). Since 2009, Destructoid has had an annual KarE3oke, which we plan to attend in full force until they stop doing it. Other events include trips to Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, or any of the several other theme/water parks in the area.

If you're interested in what you hear, follow our Blog, join our Facebook Group, or most importantly, join our Google Group.

Most of the event planning goes down in the Google Group, so join up there to stay in the k??now. If you think you may be too far, don't sweat it; we've got members as far east as San Bernardino, as far west as the San Fernando Valley, and as far south as Tijuana. So no matter where you are in the greater Los Angeles area, you're likely to find somebody nearby. If nothing else, join our Google Group and shoot the Internet breeze with some like-minded individuals.

-------??-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dtoid San Francisco -- Managed by Tactix

Live in the Bay Area? The Destructoid Army in and around San Francisco wants to meet you! DtoidSF is comprised of a group of gamers who love to get together and do what we do best ... play games! Past events have included road trips to Sunnyvale Arcade to play DJ Max Technika, having NARPs at various group members homes for some Rock Band fun, and even fighting game tournaments in almost every fighting game imagina??ble.

Not only do we have a good time with community, but seeing as San Francisco is a hub for the gaming industry, we love rocking industry events too such as the 4th Anniversary Destructoid GDC party, Giant Bomb's anniv?ersa?ry party and various Capcom community events! So come join us! There are many ways to get involved and we'd love to include YOU!

Dtoid Australia -- Managed by FooLiz

AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!
GAME! GAME! GAME!

Australia's gaming scene is ra??pidly expanding and DtoidAustralia is growing with it. We may be that out of the way country with the world's deadliest animals, but those of us who have survived want to play games with you! We're tired of being known for our archaic ratings system and gettin??g games months later so we're going to play the games we do have together! We have people from all over the country wanting to hang out with other Dtoiders and this is the way to find them all.

We have had many events in the past including regular Supanova meetups, Guitar Hero VS Rock Band parties and other nerdy outings! This year we have tripled in size and have big plans including our regular team at "Yahtzee Croshaw presents Video Game Trivia" at Mana Bar, Shitty Movie nights, NARPs and Friday Night Fights? that are actually held on Friday Night! Events will be held in any city that Dtoiders can be found within Australia!

If you're interested and want to be involved then join our Google Group, Facebook group, follow our blog or our Twitter!

------------------------------------------------------------------------??------------

Dtoid New England -- Managed by Senisan

The purpose of th?ese groups as you know is to set up a local community to get together for videogame or NVGR related shenanigans. It's a great way to have fun with like minded individuals who carry the phrase "Also, Cocks" in their hearts. So, join me Dtoiders in creat??ing something wonderful in the New England Area!

We've held a few events in the past year and I had them summarized in this C Blog

Dtoid NE's Blog

As for future event's we only have ideas floating around ??and nothing really solid. Well try to update as soon as possible!

--------------??------------??----------------------------------------------------------

Dtoid Europe -- Managed by Hollie Bennett

Dtoid Euronoobs, Unite like the European Union!

We are DtoidEurope, a group for all you Europeans amidst this sea of Americans. We'?ve got the benefit of free universal healthcare, so we don't have to be as careful as those American pansies. Therefore each EuroNARP so far has been a race to see who crashes first, the? drunk gamer or the overheated consoles?

S??ince last year we've even taken ?over the crown of the biggest gaming event with "GamesCom 2009" which officially had more visitors then E3 and Tokyo Game Show, so to celebrate that we'll be having an organised visit over there to represent Dtoid!

I???f you're from Europe, just join this group even if you're currently not even thinking about joining in in any events, you never know if one will tickle your fancy and make you change your mind. You'd be mad not to join in our events, you can see what we've done before in the links provided below.

Please join our DtoidEurope Google Group e-mailer and to follow our blog: DtoidEurope-C blog, as well as our Facebook group

Dtoid Baltimore/DC -- Managed by Hitogoroshi

Welcome one, welcome all! This is none other than Dtoid Baltimore/DC group, servicing all those in the DC, Maryland, and Virgini??a area to their fullest desires, and sometimes Delaware or Pennsylvania folk. What can we say, we are versatile! Keeping it real, we make sure we have the old school flavor with arcade cabinets to MAME machines galore next to the new stuff, cool a?ction figures, lightsabers, and crazy stories by the grill.

From Parkon, MD to Baltimore, MD and even down to Alexandria, VA for the buffalo wings and our increasing presence to the best gaming festival around, MAGFest, we like to Venture out t????o new areas with our brothers and sisters.

So come and join us, partake in the meat, games, zombies, and debauchery. We have a Baltimore/DC Google Group as well as a blog dedicated to gatherings.

---------------------------------------------?----??-----------------------------------

Dtoid Northwest (comprised of Portland/Seattle/Vancouver)

Dtoid Portland -- Managed by king3vbo

Microbrew capital of the world, UNITE!

Sup noobs, we're DtoidPDX and we represent all the Dtoiders in Oregon (and maybe a few from Washington if we feel like it). Like every other group out there,?? our goal is to get together, throw down a few brewskies and act like idiots. We have NARPs, track and field throwdowns at Ground Kontrol, shitty movie parties -- everything you could ever want to do with a group of socially awkward nerds. So if you want to hang out with some fellow geeks who bring the thunder, join us today!

Our Google Group emailer is where we plan our deadly raids into the greater Portland area, and you can join us by going here and joining. You can also follow our cblog.

Our chapter also has signed a non-aggression treaty with our Battle Brothers in the Northern Wastelands, in which we plan our NW MegaNARPs. These MegaNARPs are the stuff of legends, where memes are forged and gods are born. Your very weekend will be thrown as under as we come together and drink whole cities dry, whilst gaming into the wee hours. If you feel so inclined to come to these meetings of kickass and awesome, join our Google Group of win here, and prepare yourself for some god-tier fun.

Dtoid Seattle-Vancouver -- Managed by Kai/DJDuffy

In the deep of murky night, the moon melancholy in its cloudy penitentiary, silhouettes file forth, like drops rolling out of shadowy condensation. Passing briefly through light, details emerge: fight sticks, Rock Band instruments, a might??ly collection of hard drives. These then, are the doomed, the lost ones of dark portent, condemned forever to find solace in each others company and in a life dedicated to gaming. ??And drinking homebrewed beer. And eating delicious homemade food. And doing other stuff that, generally speaking, is pretty sweet. They are ... Dtoid Seattle-Vancouver.

Oh, we also want to take you to the gay bar.

So far, we don't do much in the way of local gatherings. But that's because we start to think about partying, and then we talk to our Rose City brethren down south, and then the MegaNARP is upon us, and hope is lost. But where hope is lost, so is found chili, music gaming galore, and live rebroadcasts over the internet of Street Fighter: the movie, complete with our custom live commentary trac?k.

Should any of this sound interesting to you -- whether for entertainment or law-enforcement purposes -- feel free to read our C Blog, get in on the Dtoid Seattle-Vancouver Google jamalama, or risk complete brain death by hitting up the Dtoid Northwest Google nabob. You were warned.

------------------------------------------------------------------------??------------

Dtoid Penn -- Managed by JT Icefire

Hey, keystoners! If you live in the great state of Pennsylvania -- from Philly to Pittsburgh, from Erie to the Poconos -- then Dtoid Penn is the group for you! We're one of the newly-released expansion packs to Destructoid Nation, so we're looking for Dtoid members from all across the state to come on out for NARPs and get-togethers. We are the keystone state, so not only are we going to be building our own NARP scene, but we'll be routine??ly making plans to join our older brothers in Baltimore and NY (and our fraternal twins, the Midwest) on their amazing adventures. Drop on by, it's going to be one hell of a ride!

Dtoid Austin/Texas -- Managed by Sean Carey (blurb by Blehman)

Dtoid Austin was formed by "Internet Phenom" Austin J. Smothersby in 1992, and was purchased by jbsgame.com in November of 2008 for three packs of smokes and a Delta Miles upgrade voucher. Constantly trying to put i??ts notoriously racist past behind it, Dtoid Austin welcomes all comers, as long as they live in or around Austin, Texas, and don't have anything to do with Lithuanians. Or maybe it's llamas. How about both, just to make sure.

Sometimes the members of this group play videogames together, although why you'd need to be in Austin to do that, what with theI nternet and all, is beyond this bio writer. Sometimes they meet up and socialize, which again didn't the internet take care of this? If you want to lug your hulking meatsack over to sit in a place with other stinking piles of animated flesh, be my guest. Shove some?? dead plants and ?animals into your gaping foodholes while you're at it, and wash it all down with a flagon of rotting sugarwater designed to suffocate your brain. God you people make me sick.

Dtoid Midwest -- Managed by Jon Bloodspray

DtoidMidwest is your #1 resource for NARP planning and general merrymaking in the Great Plains. W?hat constitutes the Midwest, you ask? Well, for our purposes, we're including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, the Dakotas, Iowa, Indiana, and Ohio. We cast a pretty big net, I know. There's probably more to it than that, but we've never met anyone from anywhere else, so they might as well not exist.

Anyway, if you live near a corn field and want to meet some other Dtoiders, add DtoidMidwest to your friends list, join the Google Group, check out our main Forum thread, and start talking to your fellow midwesterners! Rumor has it ??that we're actually the sexiest regional group, but don't tell DtoidSF. They get jealous.

It's also a city of gamers and now Dtoid Chicago is here to give us wayward nerds a chance to unite! Still in its infancy, the jbsgame.community here in Chicago is organizing to host gaming events, nerd gatherings, and take part in the video gaming subculture of the city. Come join so you can suggest ideas, meet like-minded gamers, host gatherings, or just show up to a party with a fight stick and a copy of Street Fighter IV. Welcome!

Recently, our friend and DtoidLA member lv99ron was feeling sick. His father took him to the hospital for a?? check up and within 20 minutes he was in surgery. An infection grew in his lungs that need three emergency surgeries to remove and he spent three weeks in the ICU. He is currently home and on his way to a full recovery, but ?his hospital bill is astronomical (think half a million dollars). We wanted to help out, so we’re having a fundraiser. And the only thing we know how to do is play videogames and have fun.

So today from 10AM til 10PM PST, we’re having a Variety Show and a Gaming Marathon. I know you're th?inking, “Gaming Marathon, ok I get that. But what kinda variety show is it gonna be!?” Well, handsome person, that is a great question. Jonathan Ross’ Street Fighter Academy
