During today's State of Play, developer Rogue Factory and publisher NACON showed the first glimpse of gameplay for Hell is Us, an upcoming 3rd person action first announced back in 2022. In the trailer, we see the player take on a va?riety of spooky-looking demons that have literally caused Hell on Earth.

The trailer is giving me somewhat soulslike vibes, but also reminds me both in enemy design and gameplay of Scarlet Nexus. Players will wield a wide range of weapons including swords, spears, and axes as they take on supernatural?? creatures that have invaded Earth.

Hell is Us is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2025.

When Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases later this year, one thing is for sure: The Great Circle will certainly encompass a genuine rendition of Indiana Jones. During today's Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer MachineGames and publisher Bethesda Softworks showed off various elements of gameplay and confirmed the action adventure title will release on Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 9, 2024 as a timed console exclusive bef??ore coming to PS5 in Spring 2025.

For the first time, we got an extensive look at the gameplay that will take place in the all-new handcraft Indiana Jones story coming in The Great Circle. At its core, the name of the game in The Great Circle will be stealth. Often times it looks as though there will be plenty of enemies between Indy and his destination, making the quiet unseen route t??he safest and most reliable option. But when things get hairy, Indy will have options.

Using his signature trusty whip, pla?yers will be able to smack around, disoriented, crowd control, and subdue enemies. Every location will also have a variety of objects that the player can interact with and use to assist them in combat a??s well, ranging from actual weapons including firearms to random knick-knacks to throw at the enemy.

Based on the trailer, it looks as though we'll be exploring a variety of detailed environments and solving interesting puzzles to crack the code of The Great Circle.

11 bit studios gave a glimpse of the upcoming survival city-builder Frostpunk 2 with a gameplay reveal trailer. The developer and publisher also confirmed that the sequel will be released as a Day One on Game Pass title. Frostpunk 2?? will originally launch on PC in the first half of 2024—where it will be available on Game Pass for PC—followed by a later release on Xbox Series X|S—and Xbox Game Pass—as well as PlayStation 5.

Three Decades Later

The gameplay reveal looks similar to what we saw during a preview event a few months ago, highlighting the shift of focusing on a small ramshackle community from the original Frostpunk to building a sprawling post-apocalyptic city. Rather than placing each building individually, players will now district out areas similar to what you'd see in Cities: Skylines focusing more on the bigger picture.

Even though the Earth is still ravaged by a seemingly never-ending blizza?rd, the harsh environment is no longer the biggest threat. Taking place 30 years after the original, humanity has learned to adapt to its new reality for better or worse. However, players will have to manage a new threat: humanity itself.

No longer desperate just?? to survive, human nature has once again led people to chase an unsatiated thirst for power. Players will have to manage the demands of various factions, trying to keep everyone happy while doing what's best for the city.

Frostpunk 2 is shaping up to look like a fine successor to the original, keeping ??its bleak and intense setting while also being its own thing. I'm looking forward to keeping the generator running when it releases in the first half of this year.

Publisher Microids has released the first gameplay trailer for Flashback 2, the r?un 'n' gun sequel to the iconic 1992 Delphine adventure �In addition, the publisher announced a release window of November 2023, which will see the sequel launch on PC and console platforms.

Initially announced back in the spring of 2021, Flashback 2 will see returning federal agent Conrad Hart once again take up arms against a shapeshifting alien race, The Morphs, in a sci-fi noir adventure set against the backdrop of the 22nd Century. The sequel will feature characters, mechanics, and locales familiar to fans of the groundbreaking original, while introdu??cing all new elements such as Conrad's powerful new A.I. firearm, A.I.S.H.A.

As you can see from the gameplay trailer, Flashback 2 is taking something of a 2.5D approach to its platform-based, run 'n' gun action, featuring all the of ledge scaling, dodge-rolling, abyss-leaping excitement of the original, while affording combat new depth through the use of cover systems and the ability to move and shoot both into and out of the geometric plane. Interestingly, the game this footage reminds me of the most is Epic's great 2009 release Shadow Complex, and while Flashback 2 is most certainly set to be somethi?ng of a modest production and release, this early trailer has promise.

Microids also revealed that it will be releasing a physical edition of the new sequel, which will include a physical copy of Flashback 2 on PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, a soundtrack CD, sticker sheets, a pin featuring the original Conrad Hart sprite, a digital copy of the 1992 release, steelbook casing, and an 8-inch figurine of our amnesiac star himself??. This edition will launch alongside the game itself this fall.

We got the news during today's Xbox Games Showcase

Minecraft is one of the most beloved franchises in all of gaming that has inspired a slew of spin-offs into other genres. The newest entry in the Minecraft franchise is delving into even more unexplored territory in the form of Minecraft Legends, an action strategy game that was announced at last year's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. This title has made an appearance at the same event in 2023, this time revealing a brand new gameplay trailer, as well as an official release date: April 18, 2023.

The trailer showed off the game's overworld, which players will be able to roam freely on horseback, as well as combat with "familiar foes" and "unexpected allies." We also got a brief look at the Minecraft Legends' online features, as players will be able to play co-operatively with friends, or challenge them to play as opponents. Between the adorable Minecraft art style to the bombastic gameplay, this title looks like it's going to be a blast for action strategy lovers and long-time Minecraft fans alike.

This is My Dune

Publisher Funcom and developer Shiro Games have offered up the first gameplay video for their incoming strategy title Dune: Spice Wars, an adaptation of the legendary sci-fi universe devised by author Frank Herbert. The game is currently in development for PC and consoles.

As we reported in December, when Dune: Spice Wars was first announced, the new title will return the real-time-strategy roots of Westwood's classic Amiga and PC releases of the?? early 1990s. Players will be afforded the opportunity to select from a number of houses set within the Dune universe, before attempting to build a thriving mining commu?nity within the planet's lucrative spice-mine mar??ket.

The new trailer, which appears to be narrated by the dulcet tone of a Lady Jessica-type, demonstrates how players will be responsible for the building and maintaining of communities, factorie??s, silos, and machinery, carving out a piece of the all-important spice pie while steadying the scales of democracy, subterfuge, and war with rival houses, local communities, and cut-throat bandits.

Bargaining, espionage, resourcefulness, peacekeeping, and brute force will be the tools necessary to ensure that your time on Arrakis is a successful one, lest you and your people find yourselves face down in the sand. These are very early days, but if Shiro Games is able to capture even half the atmosphere and compelling gameplay of the Westwood titles, then Dune: Spice World could prove to be a real gem.

Welcome to Yara

This Friday, we'll get a glimpse at the gameplay of the next entry in the Far Cry series. Ubisoft has announced that a new live stream featuring gameplay of Far Cry 6 will air on May 28.

The stream, which will go live at 9:30 a.m. PT, will be the first glimpse we've had of the next Far Cry in a good while. On top of seeing gameplay, I'm also hoping we see more of Gian??carlo Esposito's?? villain too, as he stars in the teaser for this week's stream:

Since Far Cry 6 was delayed from its previous launch, it'll be interesting to see how much we learn about the new game this Friday. With Ubisoft's E3 Forward looming, this c?ould be getting some news out a little earl?y, or at least teasing more to come once June 12 rolls around.

And this Far Cry stream also adds onto the pile of streams scheduled for this week. Tomorrow will feature both a Dying Light 2 stream and a State of Play centered around Horizon Forbidden West, as well as a "Sonic Central." The summer of gaming is well underway, folks.
