A new Indie World Showcase from Nintendo has arrived here at the end of 2023, spotlighting the independent projects headed to the Nintendo Switch. Sorry Silksong fans, today was not your day.

Despite the noticeable lack of Hollow Knight updates, though, there were quite a few games that caught my eye. This didn't feel like a big showstopper, but it's definit?el?y tacked a few more games onto my watch-list. And heck, with a few available today, it's added onto my increasingly large 2023 backlog.

Here's?? all we saw at today's Indie World Showcase.

All announcements from the November 2023 Nintendo Indie World Showcase

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=D41wEMc3_ME

  • WayForward is preserving more of Shantae's legacy with Shantae Advance, an updated version of the lost-in-development GBA game Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution. This layer-shifting, world-spinning adventure is set to arrive in 2024.
  • Core Keeper looks to bring some co-op mining and base-building next summer on the Nintendo Switch. It looks fairly in-depth, for those looking to dig into a co-op adventure with friends.
  • For something a bit different, On Your Tail blends mystery with card systems, all set in a world full of anthropomorphized animals. Take or leave the art style, but it's certainly distinct. That's set to hit Switch in 2024.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_YkQRFZnO8

  • My first big pleasant surprise of the show is Howl, a gorgeous-looking strategy game about a hunter and some wolves. Everything about this seems super interesting, and you don't need to wait to try it out. Both the full game and a demo of Howl are available on Switch today.
  • The Star Named Eos is a photography-driven adventure title arriving in spring 2024. Definitely seems like those that love narrative adventures should keep an eye on this one.
  • Space-management roguelike Backpack Hero is heading to the Switch later today. I've played the demo of this on PC, and it's really fun. Definitely one to pick up if you like roguish games or autobattlers.
  • Here's another pleasant surprise: Blade Chimera looks like a 'Vania fan's type of game. While the setting is very neon and futuristic, the action reminds me of Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. Keep an eye out for this in spring 2024.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiocMlIG5lE

  • I'll pay attention any time that Inkle's name is brought up, and A Highland Song is indeed an Inkle project. A story about a girl exploring the Scottish highlands, this certainly has a memorable aesthetic and mood. Look for that to hit Switch on December 5.
  • Moonstone Island has just about every genre buzzword you could feasibly smash together: creature collecting, card battles, farming, life-sim, and more. It sounds like a lot to juggle all at once, but hey, if someone can pull it off, it could be special. We'll find out when Moonstone Island hits Switch in spring 2024.
  • Enjoy solving murders? Then Death Trick: Double Blind might be one to watch. This mystery adventure is from some self-professed fans of the genre, and it's got quite an art style to match its macabre subject matter. It's due out in 2024, but a demo arrives for Switch later today.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukBSRJgFAUM

  • Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition finally sets a date for December 7, with a physical version out in 2024. Do I need to tell you this? Play Outer Wilds. Do it already. Seriously.
  • The sizzle reel closes out our show kicks off with a series of trailers and dates:

    • Planet of Lana - Spring 2024
    • Enjoy the Diner - Later today
    • Heavenly Bodies - February 2024
    • The Gecko Gods - Spring 2024
    • Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist - Later today
    • Urban Myth Dissolution Center - 2024
    • Braid, Anniversary Edition - Spring 2024

That's all for today's show. Not quite a blockbuster, but a good few games that I'm k??een on following towar??ds their eventual release dates. Anything catch your eye? Let us know down below.

A little look at what's new for indies this year

Nintendo aired a new Indie World Showcase today, spotlighting what's to come for independent games on the Switch. Clocking in at roughly 20 minut??es, it's a neat little look at what indies have in store amid the coming months.

Really, it was a strange sh??ow. The games shown were neat, but this showcase felt a little slim when it came to firm updates. Several projects popped up that we've known about, and a lot of windows were confirmed, but there wa??s less in the way of hard dates.

Still, there were some surprises, as always. And even a few "out later today" appearances, which are always a highlight. I'll also just pre-emptively say this now: sorry Silksong sickos, but no news.

Without further ado, let's get into the recap.

Everything shown at the Nintendo Indie World Showcase for April 2023

  • The show kicks off with Mineko's Night Market, a charming shop sim with absolutely gorgeous graphics. I love the vibes here, and the minigames combined with running the stall make it seem like this could be a pleasant little slice-of-life game with some rural, spiritual vibes. That's out on September 26, 2023.

[caption id="attachment_374418" align="alignnone" width="640"] Image via Nintendo / Meowza Games[/caption]

  • Farming and mining game My Time at Sandrock, the follow-up from the My Time at Portia team, is slated for a Switch port in summer 2023.
  • Chaotic co-op restaurant game Plate Up! is already a blast on PC, but Switch players will get to hop into the ever-evolving sim later this year. It's aiming to hit Nintendo Switch sometime in October 2023.
  • Quilts and Cats of Calico is adapted from real-life tabletop game Calico. It also simulates a very real reality of cats walking all over your tabletop games. Still, fans of feline friends and Clubhouse Games may find something to enjoy here. That arrives sometime in fall 2023.
  • Rift of the Necrodancer was a not-so-surprising hit from my time at PAX East 2023, and we got some looks at the different musical bouts and mechanics coming to the rhythm game sometime this year.

[caption id="attachment_341528" align="alignnone" width="640"] Image via Brace Yourself Games[/caption]

  • We're kicking off a DLC addition-specific section with A Little to the Left DLC coming in June. The premium DLC will add 25 new messes to the game, and it looks to be a little more tactile.
  • Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon gets the Puzzler's Pack DLC for free this spring, with some new characters and hats.
  • Cult of the Lamb ushers in the Relics of the Old Faith DLC on April 24. I played a little of this at PAX East, and it certainly offers more of what Cult of the Lamb does: creepy-cute animals and intense combat, with a hearty side of base-building.
  • YouTube's Dunkey arrives to introduce Animal Well, an indie project under his Bigmode publishing label that's aiming for early 2024. Even before the pickup, this curious puzzler was on my radar, so I'm looking forward to seeing what mysteries the final version holds.

[caption id="attachment_374416" align="alignnone" width="640"] Image via Nintendo / Shared Memory[/caption]

  • The surprise hit of the showcase for me is Crime O'Clock, a game that's a little hard to discern from gameplay alone. It seems like you travel through different areas and times, attempting to solve mysteries. Both the art style and general concept intrigue me, and I'm curious to see how it all comes together on June 30.
  • Both Teslagrad 2 and a remastered version of Teslagrad are out today, for those who want some immediate exploration in their lives.
  • Shadows Over Loathing has a digital version out today, with a physical version planned for the fall.
  • The dark and grim sequel Blasphemous 2 is looking to hack, slash, rip and tear this summer.

[caption id="attachment_374417" align="alignnone" width="640"] Image via Nintendo / The Game Kitchen[/caption]

  • Oxenfree II: Lost Signals resurfaces with a firm release date of July 12, 2023. Easily one of my most anticipated indie launches this year.
  • And now we're into the montage. The pretty game Paper Trail leads off with an August 2023 window.
  • The adorably named Little Kitty, Big City continues the virtual cat trend sometime in 2024.
  • I couldn't glean much from the trailer for Chants of Sennaar, but I was pretty intrigued by it. That's arriving on September 5.
  • The action-heavy Brotato will hit Switch sometime in 2023.
  • Escape Academy: The Complete Edition brings virtual escape rooms to the handheld system in fall 2023.
  • Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is available later today, for those who want their animatronic scares on the go.
  • Lastly, a surprise date for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk closes out the montage portion. Maybe I'm biased, as someone very much looking forward to Team Reptile's title, but this August 18 release date felt like it deserved more fanfare.

Good things come to those who wait

I first heard about Ooblets back in 2018. I've been following the game's development since then, because nothing sounds more up my alley than a Pokémon-inspired life simulator where you get to both grow crops and have your weird little creatures compete in dance-offs. Ooblets went into early access back in the summer of 2020,? bu?t it seems that the game is now entering its final stages of development... finally, the wait is almost over!

We got the update during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase this morning, where Ooblets was just one of the many noteworthy titles we covered in our roundup. Since Nintendo hosts the whole shindig, the biggest news for this title was that it's coming to Nintendo Switch this summer in addition to PC and Xbox, which is already exciting news on its own. Of course, that wasn't the end of it, because developer Glumberland also revealed that Ooblets w?ill finally be leaving ?early access with the release of its 1.0 version.

The full version of the game will include all of the updates that players received ove??r the course of alpha such as new locations and quests, as well as more new updates that players have yet to see, including a conclusion to the game's main storyline. That last detail is what I've been particularly excited for, because I've been holding off on playing the game until Glumberland releases the full story knowing me, I'm going to binge it all at once, so I wanted to be able to do so when the time comes.

As of now we don't have a release date for the Nintendo Switch port or the 1.0 version yet, but I'll be keeping a close eye on their website and social media until then.

I rem??ember when that announcement trailer dropped a few years ago, and what a cool yet far-away feeling dre??am it was. There's nothing better than seeing a small team of passionate game designers not only make that dream for themselves, but flourish because of it.

Indie games old and new appeared today

Nintendo aired a new Indie World Showcase today, spotlighting some new and previously announced projects coming to Switch. Cards, crabs, and Making the Band all made the cut, as the publisher and Switch maker showed?? off what's on the way.

20 games were on the docket, including four that are out today. A few brand-new reveals were also in store, like noir-meets-Metroid adventure Gunbrella and the Soulslike Another Crab's Treasure starring a crab.

It wasn't the most explosive showcase, especially if you were holding out hope for some Hollow Knight: Silksong news. But as always, I walked away from this showcase with a couple more games on my To Wa??tch list,? and at least a few I'm going to download and check out this afternoon.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV3tesGHSFg

Here's the full rundown of everyt?hing shown today.

Every game shown in today's Nintendo Indie World Showcase

  • Ooblets: Glumberland's cozy, chill farming and monster-raising sim makes its way to Nintendo's handheld this summer. Dress up, play arcade games, and then duke it out in dance battles.
  • Batora: Lost Haven: This action-RPG takes a puzzle-y, nonlinear approach to the usual Diablo style. Balancing body and mind seems key to surviving the journey. That's from Stormind Games and Team17, out this fall.
  • ElecHead: Nama Takahashi's adorable little puzzle game ElecHead hits a system that seems just perfect for it. Using the lil' robot guy's head and body, you solve a bunch of puzzles involving tricky floors and traps. That's on Nintendo Switch this fall.

  • Soundfall: The first "available today" of the Indie World Showcase goes to Soundfall, a rhythm and dungeon-crawling hybrid from Drastic Games and Noodlecake. Explore the levels, pick up the loot, smack enemies, and do it all to the beat for extra power. It's got over 140 songs and, importantly for some, up to four players in local or online multiplayer.
  • Wildfrost: A new tactical roguelike deckbuilder from Deadpan Games and Chucklefish is on the way. Wildfrost has a Norse mythology vibe to it, with some great art and what looks like a tactical approach to putting cards on the table. I'm intrigued to see more of this as we get closer to its holiday launch window.
  • Totally Accurate Battle Simulator: This summer, armies of little dudes can be slammed against each other on a whim, and on the go. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is headed to Nintendo Switch, so you too can be a callous and uncaring god, seeing if a few boulder guys can beat a mammoth.
  • Gunbrella: This new game from Gato Roboto developer Doinksoft and Devolver Digital might be my highlight of the stream. A noir-punk Metroid-style game where the protagonist has a gun, that's also an umbrella. Say no more. But do please keep me updated and apprised as this aims for a launch on Switch next year.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uaqf0k9r36c

  • We Are OFK: We got a decent look at Team OFK's Making the Band-style narrative adventure today. Released as weekly animated episodes with interactive music videos, I dig the vibe and look of this a lot. The series starts this summer, as Itsumi Saito and her friends embark on their journey to make it big.
  • Silt: Giant fish! Big teeth! Silt looks frightening. But if you're somehow not terrified of the deep, and you should be, Silt is coming to Nintendo Switch in June.
  • Mini Motorways: From Dinosaur Polo Club, this Mini builder lets you organize the routes and highways cars take on their daily commute. Much like predecessor Mini Metro, this looks like a deceptively straightforward but ultimately engrossing puzzler. It's out today on Nintendo Switch.
  • Wayward Strand: This narrative adventure from Ghost Pattern has a real look and style to it. Follow along as an intrepid young journalist explores a flying hospital, in what looks like a cozy but probably very sad story. It hits Switch on July 21.

  • Cult of the Lamb: We didn't learn too much new here, but Cult of the Lamb continues to look good. I was impressed by my time with it at PAX East 2022, and will definitely keep my eye on it, for whenever it lands this year.
  • Another Crab's Treasure: From Aggro Crab, makers of dystopian dungeon crawler Going Under, it's Another Crab's Treasure. Be a crab. Fight other sea life. Acquire new shells. Profit? This new action-adventure crabwalks onto Switch next year.
  • OneShot: World Machine Edition: Leading off the closing montage of indies is OneShot, a bit of a cult classic on PC that's coming to Nintendo Switch. I hesitate to say more, but fans of Undertale and Inscryption should take note. That's coming to Switch this summer.
  • Gibbon: Beyond the Trees: Another out today, this game from Broken Rules has a narrative journey about a lost gibbon on a dangerous journey. Hopefully it isn't heartbreaking!
  • Idol Manager: Manage and train a stable of idols on Aug. 25. I didn't get too strong of an impression from this, but it looks appealing to folks who like sim-narrative games, like the Princess Maker series.

  • Card Shark: Devolver and Nerial's game about getting away with cheating at cards has two pieces of news. In the showcase, it was confirmed to have a demo out today. And right after, the team locked in a date of June 2!
  • Cursed to Golf: This golf roguelike certainly made an impression in my PAX East demo. We didn't see too much today, but it's one for golf fans to keep an eye on this summer.
  • A Guidebook of Babel: Since this popped up in the montage, I didn't get too much info about this. Even so, I dig the art, and it seems to have some kind of puzzle-solving going on too. I'm keeping my eye out for more info as we get close to a fall release date for this.
  • Opus: Echo of Starsong - Full Bloom Edition: This under-the-radar hit from Sigono is coming to Switch, and doing so today. Its mixture of narrative and puzzles with some great art and mysteries put it on my backlog, and with a Switch version out today, it's about time I got to playing it.

I see what they did there

I'm always on the hunt for some cool new indie games. I want something unique, fresh, and unlike anything I've ever played before and that's exactly what I think I'm going to get from Robust Games' new title Loco Motive. The game's first trailer dropped last week at the Indie World Showcase, and upon first watch I was immediately sold on? the silly s??lapstick murder mystery adventure.

The game takes place on an opulent train, when suddenly a murder happens! Gasp! Now a "straight-laced lawyer, a crime novelist-turned rookie detective, and an undercover spy" find themselves wrapped up in the plot, and you as the player have to work out the case for yourself. As a fan of classic mystery novels, it sounds to me like Loco Motive is going to pay homage in a? r??eally fun way. If the name alone is any indication of the zany tone the game has, I think we're in for a real treat.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFahJJOdMzI

Loco Motive originally began as a game jam project by brothers Adam and Joe Riches, and was then picked up by the publisher Chucklefish of Stardew Valley and Eastward fame.?? The Riches subsequently went on to finish the project und?er the banner of their new studio, Robust Games. The main story has an estimated runtime of seven-plus hours, is fully voiced, and has three playable protagonists.

The game is set to launch on PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022, and players can find updates on the Loco Motive Steam page, as well as on Robust Games' Twitter account. If you just can't wait that long to give Loco Motive a try, a short demo version from the original game jam event is playable right now on itch.io. I know I'm for sure going to add it to my wishli??st, because this looks like one silly mystery adventure that I don't want t??o miss.

School's out for Summer

During yesterday's exciting Nintendo Indie World Showcase, publisher WayForward offered up some new tidbits on its skull-cracking brawler River City Girls 2. Not only did we get a funk??y new trailer, showing our pint-sized pugilists in action, b??ut we also got to hear some rad new tunes, and even received a tentative release window of summer 2022.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7ESLdjvtNo

While plot details remain very thin on the ground, eagle-eyed River City Girls fans will spot final boss Sabuko, looking a little worse for wear and accepting a limo ride from a mysterious stranger. As a dedicated crime-lord, I doubt that Sabuko will take her ass-kicking lying down, and we can perhaps expect to see her make a comeback and on a quest for revenge. Sabuko's a great character, one of the original game's many fantastic bosses, so I ho?pe she does return for the sequel, if only to find herself on the receiving end of some brand new combo chaos.

The trailer also shows off RCG 2's roster of six playable characters. Of course our gals Kyoko and Misako are present and correct, alongside series veterans Kunio and Riki, and newcomers in the form of former Double Dragon damsel (and now incredible abs owner) Marian, and the streetwise ass-kicker Provie, who fans will recognize from the stylish 2017 release River City Ransom: Underground. River City Girls 2 will see these six protagonists embark upon more face-smacking adventures across the hazardous 'berg, utilizing new weapons, techniques, and moves while la?ying down the law on a flurry of new and returning enemies. On?line co-op is confirmed, so you won't have to go it alone.

It's all looking very exciting, you certainly don't have to sell me twice. Oh, and don't forget to turn the volume up so you can check out an awesome new turn from composer Megan McDuffee.

River City Girls 2 will launch summer 2022 on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms. Additionally, retro remaster River City Girls Zero will also launch on Nin??tendo Switch in early? 2022, with other platforms to follow suit.

From Chicory to Omori, it was a pretty colorful cavalcade of games

Nintendo debuted a new Indie World Showcase this morning, spotlighting the independent games coming to the system this December and into the new year. It was a lineup that was filled with surprises, new footage, and of course, some surprise "available later today" announce??ments.

Opening the show was Sea of Stars, the classically-styled RPG from The Messenger developer Sabotage Studio. It's got a great look, some good ol' RPG combat, and features some music from Yasunori Mitsuda of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross fame. It's aiming for a holiday 2022 launch.

In the games that followed, there were some dates laid out for indies across the coming months. OlliOlli World locked in a Feb. 8, 2022 launch date for its skateboarding world, and River City Girls 2 has a window of Summer 2022. A few new surprises showed up, like point-and-click mystery throwback Loco Motive and the seemingly heartbreaking musical adventure After Love EP, both targeting the summer of 2022.

On the "out today" front, a few games will be available sometime today on the Nintendo Switch. The headliner is Chicory: A Colorful Tale, a wonderful game that seems very well suited for the Switch. Dungeon Munchies looks like a cool dungeon crawler with a focus on cooking your enemies to make yourself stronger. Puzzle game Timelie gets both a demo and a launch today, and board game collection Let's Play! Oink Games also hits the Switch today.

Finally, closing the show out is Omori, the beautiful and haunting RPG from Omocat LLC that became something of a cult hit around the end of last year. It certainly comes bearing a content warning, but if you're looking for an RPG that doesn't feel like any other RPG you've played in recent memory, it seems well-suited to the task. Omori will hit Switch in spring 2022.

A holiday surprise from Nintendo and its indie partners

Nintendo announced today that it will be hosting a new Indie World Showcase, and it's showing up before the year's out?? too. A new Indie World Showcase will air tomorrow, Dec. 15, to share informatio?n on upcoming independent games coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The broadcast will air at noon ET, or 9 a.m. PT. You can find it live on YouTube here, or via the embed below:

Nintendo has said the Indie World Showcase for December 2021 will feature r??oughly 20 minutes of content about upcoming indie games coming to the Switch.

The year might be almost over, but that doesn't mean there's any shortage of speculation on what this showcase might bring. I imagine the cries for news of Hollow Knight: Silksong are already ringing out across comments sections and forums. And other indies, like Sports Story, have been drif?ting around for a bit and could b??e due for an update.

Looking back to an Indie World Showcase from the same date last year, it had announcements like Spelunky coming to Switch and a same-day drop of Among Us. There is precedent for some drops. And earlier this year, we had a bunch of surprise-drops on the day of an Indie World Showcase.

That said, I prefer to temper expectations and just look forward to what the next few months of indie games can bring. Th?e new year is going to get going fa?st once we get to February. But in the space in-between, I'm definitely looking to pick up some indies to pass the time.

Nintendo delivers a whopping summer indie showcase

Nintendo hosted an Indie World Showcase today, and one that turned out to be chock-full of independent games. From 2022 windo??ws to same-day surprise-drops, here's the lineup of what's coming to the Nin??tendo Switch.

Bomb Rush Cyberpunk kicked the show off with Jet Set Radio vibes, even showing off some gameplay. The adorable photo-adventure TOEM also made an early appearance, and the PC indie hit from earlier this year Loop Hero locked in a Switch port for this holiday.

Far: Lone Sails is set to get a follow-up, called Far: Changing Tides, in early 2022, which is the same window as a Switch version of Astroneer. Metal Slug Tactics and the previously mentioned Bomb Rush Cyberfunk are also targeting next year, while Chucklefish's Eastward is aiming to launch next month, on Sept. 16, 2021. Oh, and Tetris Effect: Connected, on the Switch, this year, just in time for that fancy OLED model.

Time to spotlight some more indies coming to the Switch

Nintendo is? set to host another Indie World Showcase, spotlighting the independent games coming to the Nintendo Switch. Tomorrow, the Switch manufacturer will air a showcase stream, showing off wh?at's coming to the platform from indie developers.

Announced today on Nintendo's social channels, the new showcase will air on Aug. 11 at 9 a.m. PT, 12 p.m. ET. The company says we can expect roughly 20 minutes of informati??on on upcoming indie games heading to Nintendo Switch.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDclD1QMmYM

Not much more has been revealed otherwise, but a reminder: this is an Indie World Showcase, not a Nintendo Direct. So don't expect Breath of the Wild 2, or Metroid, or any other major Nintendo title.

Instead, the focus will be on the indies, and honestly, there are a good few I'm keeping an eye out for. Nintendo's done a pretty good job in bringing indie devs onto the Switch, and has featured some neat upcoming games like Sports Story, Axiom Verge 2, and Oxenfree II: Lost Signals in the past.

At roughly 20 minutes, it'll probably be a very direct, focused affair. But there's still a few months left to go until we're in the holiday season, and alongside Nintendo's slate of Metroid Dread and Advance Wars, some indie?s might help round out the Switch's fall and? holiday offerings.

Obviously, hopes are high for any news on the anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong, too. Me personally? Aside from some indies I'm looking forward to like Sports Story, I'm just hoping for some surprises. A shadow drop, "it's available? now" is always exciting, and there are always one or two games I've never heard of that can pop up at these and make a case for my backlog.

We'll see what Nintendo and i??ts partn??ers have in store on Aug. 11, at 9 a.m. PT / noon ET.

Skateboards, radios, and abodes of the dead

A new Nintendo Indie World Showcase debuted this morning, and it had a little bit of everything. There were Aztec myths, sick tricks, and even FEZ, that precocious little platformer.

In roughly 20 minutes, the showcase ran down a list of games coming to Nintendo Switch ?as far out as next year and as soon as today. Here's a ru?ndown of everything they showed:

  • Road 96: This road-trip roguelite got revealed last year, and it's still looking pretty rad. Also a little unsettling. It's set for Nintendo Switch later this year.
  • Oxenfree II: Lost Signals: Another Oxenfree is coming, set five years after the first but still featuring plenty of radio-wave ghosts by the look of it. The first Oxenfree was one of my big surprises of the year back in 2016, so I'm definitely excited to see what Night School has in store later this year.
  • OlliOlli World: Take one excellent 2D skate franchise, turn it into a 2.5D world with branching paths and quirky characters, and now you have OlliOlli World. It's coming to Nintendo Switch this winter, where I will once again return to the rails and bail spectacularly.
  • Hindsight / Last Stop: Annapurna Interactive, the publisher who's picked up previous indie hits like What Remains of Edith Finch and Gorogoa, had two new games to showcase today. Last Stop is the supernatural narrative adventure we've seen at a few other showcases and still looks pretty interesting. Hindsight looks pretty rad too; it's a narrative game about an older woman reminiscing about her family, with objects serving as portals into the past. That's coming this year, while Last Stop is scheduled for July.
  • The Longing: The 400-day wait for a king to awaken is coming to Nintendo Switch, which should make the excruciating wait a little more manageable. As your in-game character waits out their painful respite in real-time, you can explore, manage puzzles, and generally vibe in the cave systems. It's also out later today, so hurry up and start waiting!
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge: Not too much info was shown for this beat 'em up, but what more do you need? It's Tribute games and Dotemu, it's coming to Switch later this year, and good lord, it looks absolutely radical.
  • GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon: One of the stranger reveals, this game from GuruGuru and Konami (!!!) has a super-stylized look, mixed with a roguelite setup. It looks like there are some gorgeous monsters to hack-and-slash through, but honestly, it was wild enough seeing Konami's name pop up in the showcase. GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is coming to Switch next year.

A few more games got some release dates, including Cris Tales—which arrives on July 20—and classic platformer (with a fair share of secrets) FEZ, which hits Ni?nt?endo Switch today. Here's a list of the rest of the games shown off, as well as their expected launch window.

  • Aerial_Knight's Never Yield arrives May 19, with a demo later today
  • Aztech Forgotten Gods hits Nintendo Switch this fall
  • There is No Game: Wrong Dimension is out later today
  • Beasts of Maravilla Island looks like a super-chill wildlife photography game, out this June
  • Skul: The Hero Slayer arrives this summer
  • art of rally drifts in this summer
  • KeyWe looks adorable, and arrives this August
  • ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights lands on June 21
  • Weaving Tides weaves in this May
  • Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective brings incredible details to life this spring
  • The House of the Dead: Remake is back, coming to Switch later this year

Silksong fans, start arranging your salt circles accordingly

[Update: The show's about to start!]

May is approaching and the summer mont??hs o??f games soon after, but before we get there, there's always some time for indies.

Nintendo announced today that it's hosting another Indie World Showcase tomorrow, April 14, at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT. The live stream can be wa??tched on Nintendo's website or through streaming services like YouTube, embedd??ed below:

The showcase is expected to feature roughly 20 minutes, focused on "fresh and new indie games" coming to Nintendo Switch. And remember, this is an Indie World Showcase; if you go into this hoping for news about Breath of the Wild 2 or Metroid Prime 4, well, I don'??t know what to tell you, ot??her than you clearly ache for disappointment.

Of course, this will no doubt spur up more anticipation for the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong. There are some other eagerly sought-after indies, like Axiom Verge 2, that would be neat to see again.

I like surprises, though. Usually these showcases are a way to expose Switch owners to games they wouldn't normally seek out or hear about, and sometimes a two-minute spot on a showcase makes the difference. Big reveals are always nice, but with the summer and some version of E3 looming in ??the distance, I'm happy just to add some charming new experiences to my wishlist.
