The Thirst Trip trophy in Life is Strange: Double Exposure requires Max to water both plants in Chapter 2. Gwen will be happy that someone's looking?? out for her.

Where to water the first of the plants in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

During the second chapter of Life is Strange: Double Exposure in the scene "By The Horns," you can water Gwen's plant in her office. Press the right shoulder button on your controller or the spacebar on your keyboard to skip through the lengthy cutscenes if you've finished this portion of the game. Gwen's office is located in the Fines Arts Buildin??g (FAB). After she gets kicked?????????????????????????? out by the security guard, sneak inside her office. Go into the Dead reality.

In the right-hand corner of the room, ??you'll see a shriveled-up plant by the fish tank. It's under the flyer and her posters of Remember and The Flaming ?Mermaids. You're given an option to water the plant.

Where to water Max's plant

Also in the second chapter Penumbra, you'll have a chance to water?? Max's plant in her house. Head to the Photo Finished scene at the end of the chapter. Don't get distracted by the cat or the evidence. Instead, go to the Massive Plant in the left-hand corner of the room, next to the windows and poetry books.

If you're like me, you've just finished Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and are looking for your next adventure game fix. Max Caulfield's return was great, but it's not the o?nly thing the genre has to offer.

To help, we've put together a list of the eight adventure games you need to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure. This should keep you busy.

Tell Me Why

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via DONTNOD Entertainment

Tell Me Why is pretty much Life is Strange 2.5. Released back in 2020, the project was DONTNOD's first project in its post-Life is Strange era, retaining everything that made its previous titles so engagin??g.

You've got supernatural powers, deep characters, and impactful choices throughout this powerful story, which also tackles transgender issues with tact. If you're looking for something to really scratch that Life is Strange itch, then look no further than Tell Me Why.

The Wolf Among Us

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via Telltale

If you're someone who enjoyed the mystery element of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, then The Wolf Among Us could be right up your alley. Based on the Fables comic book series, you pla??y Bigby Wolf, investigating Fabletown to solve seve??ral murders.

Its stylish cel-shaded graphics sets The Wolf Among Us apart from t??he crowd, while its narrative is arguably as strong as anything Telltale put out during its 2012-2018 heyday. We're still waiting on that sequel, though.

Twin Mirror

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via DON'T NOD

Twin Mirror is yet another DONTNOD game. No one quite captures the feeling of Life is Strange quite like its original creator - go figure.

What really separates Twin Mirror from other adventure games is its use of two dimensions - the real world, and main character Sam's "Mind Palace," where players can go to solve the game's main mystery. If this multi-dimension mechanic sounds a little Life is Strange: Double Exposure-y, that's because it is.

Road 96

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via Digixart

Road 96 is one of the most unique games I've ever played. This isn't your typical adventure game, with one main character driving the narrative. Instead, Road 96 sees you ?play as a group of teenagers trying? to flee an authoritarian regime.

In each section, you'll learn more about these characters and their individual circumstances. You can succeed in your escape, or fail and be arrested or killed. It's a game that allows you to fail - the narrative hurtles to its conclusion regardless, giving every player a unique ending. The entire package is wrapped in unique minigames, making Road 96 unlike any adv??enture game you'll have previously played.

As Dusk Falls

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via INTERIOR/NIGHT

2022's As Dusk Falls is a part adventure game and part interactive novel. Most of the time, you're watching the story unfold, interjecting to make narrative decisions at key moments. It's a very different experience coming from Life is Strange: Double Exposure, but one I?'m confident fans of the game will enjoy.

As Dusk Falls' most striking element ha??s to be its art style. Each scene is portrayed through images, which have almost a realistic oil painting effect. It's a fantastic way to hide a lower budget, and you still feel every choice the game offers you with the same emotional weight.

Detroit: Become Human

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via Quantic Dream

Straight from the brain of writer-director David Cage comes Detroit: Become Human. Set in the kind-of-distant future of 2038, this adventure game goes heavy on the detective-mystery angle, which is sure to appeal to those coming off the back of Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

You're always making choices in Detroit: Become Human. Some are small and inconsequential, while others are the difference between life and death for the game's three protagonists. It's a thrilling sci-fi adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat, even if its social commentary feels a little heavy-handed at times. As far as product?ion value goes, it's second to none on this list.

Night in the Woods

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via Infinite Fall

Night in the Woods is a small-scale adventure that broadly explores the changing economic circumstances in Rust Belt America and the effect of mental illness. It's not exactly the most light-hearted topic for a video game, but it makes for an engaging sto??ry nonetheless.

Night in the Woods rewards you for engaging with the world around you. Speak to certain characters more than others, and you'll see them pop up more later in the story. Ignore them, and you'll be left in the dark, giving Night in the Woods tons of replayability for more playthroughs. If you've just hopped out of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, this experi??ence will represent an interesting change ?of pace.

Life is Strange

adventure games to play if you like Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Image via DONTNOD Entertainment

If you've finished Life is Strange: Double Exposure, why not go back to where Max Caulfield's adventure began with the original Life is Strange? It's the perfect opportunity to go back and compare th?e differences between how DONTNOD and Deck Nine handled Max.

Obviously, if you've played Double Exposure, there's a good chance you've already played 2015's Life is Strange. Still, its emotional story ??????????????????????????packs just as much of a pun?ch as it did almost a decade ago, even on repeat playthroughs.

There are a lot of hidden secrets in Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Some of them have huge, meaningful consequences, while others are seemingly just there for ??fun. One of the latter types is the Platyp??us Facts service.

I don’t know about you, but I, for one, find platypuses (platypi?) infinitely fascinating. They’re mam?mals that lay eggs, they have beaks and webbed feet, and they’re also cute to boot. But they’re also a natural anomaly, and if there were a service I could sign up for that would give me endless fac??ts about nature's little freak? Well, sign me up!

How to sign up for Platypus Facts in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Signing up for Platypus Facts will have to wait until the second scene of Chapter 2, after Safi in the Living World has revealed that someone put a cow skull through her windshield and Max take??s it upon h??erself to investigate the matter.

Once you reach the North Quad, before talking to Vinh, Lucas, or Gwen, make sure to do a little explori?ng. The Platypus Facts sign-up sheet is pinned to the first tree past the statue from where Max begins the scene, but it’s not that straightforward.

The tree where you'll find the Platypus Facts sign up sheet in the Dead World in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

What’s on the tree is different in the Living and Dead Worlds. In the Living World, there is still a sign-up sheet, but its one from Amanda that people? can sign up to help at the soup kitchen.? While this is certainly a good cause, it’s not what we’re here for.

The two different sign up sheets in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

To find the Platypus Facts sign-up sheet, carry on down the path toward the shelter where you found the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Chapter 1, and you’ll find a portal to the right side of the shelter. Use this to make you??r way to the Dead World, then backtrack to the tree to find the sign-up sheet.

You’ll need to look at the sheet, then interact with it again and select the “Sign Up?option. This will cause a small cutscene where ??Max sends a text to the number shown, and you officially become signed up to receive periodical facts about the platypus.

How to get the Platypus Genius achievement in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

One of the Platypus Facts text messages in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Signing up to receive the facts isn’t enough to unlock the achievement, which doesn’t actually get rewarded until you’ve completed Chapter 5. There are a few things to remember when working toward?s this achievement:

  1. Max will only receive Platypus Facts text messages when she’s in the Dead World. Each time you pop over to this timeline, make sure to check your messages to see what new facts have appeared.
  2. Simply receiving text messages isn’t enough to get the achievement, as you’ll need to actually read every one of them as well.
  3. If you’ve missed any text messages before completing Chapter 5, you won’t get the achievement, so make sure to stay on top of them, even in the chaotic events of the final chapter.

Provided you’ve remembered all of this, you’ll come out of Life is Strange: Double Exposure a certified? Pla?typus Genius, able to spread the random facts you’ve learned.

One of the optional things you can complete in Chapter 1 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure involves the Abraxas Puzzle Box. It’s an easy little side task that’s easy to miss? if you don’t know where to look.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is ??filled with side tasks for Max to complete, and many of them aren’t required to progress. However, completing them anyway may or may not unlock addition??al content further down the line, so exploring every scene thoroughly is recommended.

To find the Abraxas Puzzle Box, you’ll need t??o approach Reggie after heading to campus to meet with Yasmin, but before you enter the building itself. You can find Reggie sitting in the shelter just beyond the R.I.P. Graffiti Rock, which is close by when the cutscene with Amanda ends.

Where to find Reggie so you can get the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

If you’ve already completed Chapter 1, don’t w??orry; you can go back to this specific point by opening th?e Main Menu, selecting “Chapter Select,?then “Chapter 1," then “Back to School Blues."

Chapter select in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

As you approach Reggie, you’ll automatically enter into a cutscene where you’ll see him throw a wooden box to ??the ground in frustration. After the cutscene ends, you can either pick up the box immediately or talk to Reggie. Talking to him will open a dialogue to talk about Safi and the previous events of the chapter.

After the discussion ends, interact with the box and select “Take?to spark another cutscene with Reggie, during which he’ll tell you that it’s an Abraxas Puzzle box and ther??e are goodies inside, but only for those who are able to open it. It’s designed to test a ?key Abraxas virtue ?the eye for detail.

How to solve the first layer of the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

To solve the first layer of the Abraxas Puzzle Box, you’ll need to first inspect it thoroughly. Start by rotating it in all directions to see what’s on each side. The side you need to worry about first, though, is the one with the Founder’s Statue:

The Founder's Statue on the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Interact with this side, and Max will comment that it’s missing something ?his second bird. This is your hint for which side you need to inspect next, so now you’ll need to find the side with a bird on it:

The bird on the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

After interacting with the side that shows a bird, Max will notice that the center image is surrounded by Max, and ask Reggie for a lighter. Reggie will use his lighter ??to melt the wax, and the center image of the bird will fall out. When you’re looking at the Abraxas Puzzle Box again, rotate it until you can see the Founder’s Statue and the option ?to “Place bird.?nbsp;

Place the bird on the shoulder of the Founder's Statue to open the first layer of the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Do this, and then ?the box will open, only to reveal another slightly smaller box that will presumably need to be solved later on. Reggie will hand over the Puzzle Boz to you, and you'll stash it away ??in your bag.

How to solve the second layer of the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

The next opportunity you’ll have to mess around with the Abraxas Puzzle Box won’t come until the final scene in Chapter 2, when Moses is waiting for you down in the Dark Room after you’ve retrieved Safi’s camera from the hiding place in his office.

When you get to Max’s house, make sure you’re in the Dead World and then head to the kitchen to find the Puzzle Box sitting on the counter ne??xt to the sink:

Screenshot by Destructoid

The second layer of the box is much more difficult than the first, and you’ll need to know a little something about constellations (som?ething we saw a lot of in the previous scene) in order to complete it. Or, you can just keep reading, and we’ll give you the answer??s.

However you choose ?to proceed, interact with the box and rotate it?? until you find the side with constellations and four movable pegs:

Constellation puzzle in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Interacting with this side will zoom in slightly and allow you to move the pegs. To get this right and complete this layer, you?ll need to move the pegs in th?e following configuration:

  • Move the first peg down two notches
  • Move the second peg down two notches
  • Move the third peg down one notch
  • Move the fourth peg down two notches

In the end, it should look something like ??this, completing the shown constellation:

Completing this face of the box will cause a panel to pop open and a dial to be ejected from the side of the box.?? Take the dial, then find the face that matches it to add the second dial, as shown below:

Screenshot by Destructoid

This will cause both dials to become movable. While this might seem daunting, as there ar?e a lot of possible combinatio??ns with two moving dials, the answer is pleasingly simple. All you need to do is leave the outer dial completely alone, instead turning the inner one that you just placed to the right twice. When you’ve done that, the box lid will pop open.

The lid of the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Removing the lid from the box will reward you with an Abraxas Pin, making? Max an official member of the Abrax??as Society.

What happens when you solve the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Life is Strange: Double Exposure?

Honestly, not a whole lot. There?? is an achievement for completing the Box, so it’s definitely something you should do as you progress through t?he story, but other than that, it’s all a bit anticlimactic.

The next time you hear anything about the Box will be in the third scene of Chapter 3, when you’re in the Admin building talking to Vinh and Diamond. This discussion seems to be the trigger for Max getting a text message in the Dead World from an unknown number, congratulating her on solving the box and welcoming ??her to the Abraxas Society.

After that, the only time it comes up again is during Chapter 4. While Max is at the Krampus Party in the Living World, and after coming up with the plan to expose Lucas with Safi, you can walk by a couple of students in the corner near the pirate and cat mural. They’ll shout out, “One of us!”?/p>

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is a game where choices matter, and you can feel the consequences of your decision long into the story's future?. With that said, it can be easy to overlook certain small details, therefore missing out on choices.

With that in mind, I’ve compiled a full list of choices that can be made in Double Exposure. While not all ar??e l??ife-altering, it’s worth paying attention to what you could have missed in each chapter.

I’ve done my best to order the choices chronologically, so this list should guide you through the action as it happens so that you don’t miss out on anything. I’ve also noted which scene each choice appears in, so you can get back there and make a different choice through Chapter Sel??ect if you want to. The most important decisions, which prompt a decision screen, are highlighted in bold.

You can also see what choices you made through the main menu by going to Extras and then selecting Choices. Here, you’ll see what percentage of playe??rs you fall into with your decisions.

Every game needs a villain, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure has a few differen??t options, depending on how you view the characters and their actions. Lucas, for one thing, has made some disastrous choices even in the short time we’ve known him.

But it goes further than that. Lucas has been making terrible decisions for at least the four years since he decided to plagiarize one of his students' work. The move led to huge success for him, but for Maya, it?? led to depression and, ultimately, her death at her own hands.

Thankfully, things start to come together in Chapter 4 of Double Exposure, and Max and Safi, backed by Vinh and Gwen, team up to expose him for the liar and ??cheat he r??eally is.

How to expose Lucas in Chapter 4 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure

This can be broken down into a few different parts that need to be completed before you move on to the pivotal ch??oice of this scene:

  • Get Vinh and Gwen on side
  • Sabotage the projector

How to get Gwen and Vinh on your side

Thankfully, Safi and Max decide? to decide and conquer on this front, although that may be more to do with the fact that Safi and Gwen have some bad blood between them rather than a logical strategy decision.&nbs??p;

While Safi agrees to talk to Vinh, it’s up to you to get Gwen on boa?rd. It’s a really easy conversation, and you don’t even have any dialogue decisions to make, as? Gwen will decide that she’s sick of not standing for something, and the downfall of Lucas is a great thing to stand for.

How to sabotage Olga the projector

Olga the projector in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

This part is likely to pose the biggest problems, although it’s nothing a little timeline-hopping can?’t fix.

Firstly, talk directly to Reggie to get him to abandon his post as projector guard. You can either tell him that you need his help for a prank or that you’ll watch the projector yourself. Sadly, neither option will w??ork, so it’s time for a backup plan.

Thankfully, Moses is? great with technology, a?nd Max knows that if something were to go wrong with the projector, he’d be the only one who could fix it. Bonus points that you have a whole other Moses to help you from the other timeline.

Head to the bathrooms and use the portal to hop over to the Dead World and talk to Moses, who will offer to give you instructions that you’ll be able to follow using the Pulse ability. With the new plan in place, head back to the Living World a??nd approach the project??or. There will be a new option to tamper with it, but you’ll need to distract Reggie first.

Diamond's messages in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

To do this, it’s time to enlist Diamond’s help. She’s on a tabletop gaming date with Moses, but interacting with the projector again will allow you to text her, dragging her into distracting Reggie. She’ll start a group chat and either tell him that he missed an assignment or t??hat she has nudes of Vinh, depending on your choice. Either way, Reggie will be very much distracted, allowing you to temporarily break the projector.

The projector you need to sabotage in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

When looking at the projector, you’ll see a lot of interactive points, but you only need to worry about three of them. You don’t technically need to ??get instructions from Moses to complete this step, although you will have to Pulse at least once; here’s the full list of instruct??ions:

  1. Open the control panel on the right side of the projector
  2. Flip the Focus Mode switch to manual (you can examine it to check)
  3. Turn the Focus Dial all the way to the left, which will take two interactions
  4. Press the calibrate button (the red one at the bottom)

When you’ve done this, talk?? to Moses and tell him that Olga is broken. He’ll get up to fix it, and you’ll offer up his services as projector guard. He won’t be too happy about it, but he’ll understand ??soon enough. Head back to the Dead World to tell Moses that the plan worked, and you’ll be able to unlock an optional side task to get Moses a new chimney for his gingerbread house.

Moses' gingerbread house in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Getting it for him is the least you can do after his help, so head back to the Living World and ask Safi if he can have hers using the “Gingerbread House?option when interacting wit??h her. She’ll give it up, adding a message for him to see. Go back to the Dead World, give it to Moses, then come back to the Living world to start the show.

After a minor setback involving Safi shapeshifting into Loretta to prevent Lucas from leaving without taking part in his own roast, he’ll eventually come inside off t??he patio to begin the festivities.

Should you tell Safi to confront Lucas as herself or as Vinh?

Choice to make in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Despite starting well, with Vinh revealing some devastating home truths about what Lucas did to Maya, he eventually gets spooked by a veiled threat that Lucas makes and lea??ves the stage. Gwen will take her turn to speak out, but Lucas also manages to make her look like a disgruntled ex-colleague and nothing more.

Ev??entually, Safi becomes ?outraged and vows to make Lucas reveal the truth by shapeshifting into Vinh. However, Max can also choose to tell her to do it as herself. Here’s how both scenarios play out:

Tell Safi to go as herself

Safi confronting Lucas as herself in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you tell Safi to confront Lucas as herself, she will storm onto the stage and give him what f?or. He will try to talk his way out of it at first, ??but eventually, he’ll slip up and admit to what he did.

Safi will feel empowered for doing it as herself, rather than having to wear the face of someone else to be h?eard and believed. She will be overjoyed, but before you can start celebrating, Lucas will approach and ask to talk to her alone.

After talking, Safi runs? off, and a storm begins. ?Whatever Lucas told her, it was enough to tip Safi over the edge.

Tell Safi to go as Vinh

If you agree that Safi should shapeshift into Vinh to confront Lucas, then things are about to get spicy. “Vinh?has some choice words for Lucas and doesn’t pull his punches in any way. Lucas, in response, has an outburst of his own and calls Maya an idiot for “running off.”?/p>

He will be outed for the fraud that he is, but there may be consequences for Vinh considering he is in two places at once?, and Safi will come to rely more on her power than she did before. Lucas wi??ll still approach Safi and ask her to talk.

Once you’ve reached Chapter 5 in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, it’s safe to say that things are getting more bizarre. However, there are still collectibles in the many scenes of the final ch??apter.

If you missed any of the three Polaroids in Chapter 5 of Double Exposure while going through the disjointed timeline and areas it features, that’s entirely understandable. Thankfully, while previous chapters are only separated into five sce??nes, chapter 5 is broken down into nine much shorter segments, making it much easier to narrow down the locations of the three Polaroids.

All Polaroid locations in Chapter 5 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure

The three polaroids in Chapter 5 aren’t exactly hard to find as you progress through the story, but given the magnitude of the events taking place, it can be easy to get swept up in the drama and miss them entirely. Here’s how ??to find a?ll three Polaroids and which scene you’ll need to visit to gather them up after the story is wrapped up.

Polaroid #1 - Hoo?

Featuring an image familiar from the first chapter, this Polaroid of an owl can be found as soon as you wind?? up back at the observatory tower with “Moses?and his many telescopes.

There are a few things in this scene that will be familiar from the first, but you’ll need to remember where Safi was standing at the point in Chapter 1 where you tried to slip her the bottle cap. On this same?? railing, you’ll find the first Polaroid.

To get back here after completing the game, sel??ect “Under Observation?under “Decoherence?in Chapter Select.

Polaroid #2 - Party w/ the new BFF!!!

A little bit later on in the story, Max will find herself in the room that signifies the root of all of her trauma ?the Blackwell Academy bathroom where Chloe was shot in the original Life is Strange

As soon as you’ve gained control of Max, ??turn around and head into the corner where the fire alarm is. The second Polaroid can be found on the adjoining wall, clo?se to the floor.

This is the Polaroid that you’re most likely to?? miss if you’re surging ahea??d with the story, so to get back here, select “Quit Stalling?under “Decoherence?in Chapter Select.

Polaroid #3 - Tell me about your telescope

This Pola??roid references something said by Vinh in Chapter 3, and you’ll need?? to do some timeline hopping to find it.

Once you gain control of Max in the Snapping Turtle, before or after talking to Amanda, use the portal near the bathrooms to hop over to the other ??timeline. You’ll know you’re in the right timeline when you find the Snapping Turtle entirely empty and mostly dark.

When you’re there, head into the main space of the bar and look at the stage. The third and final ??Polaroid can be found on the long table jutting outwards from the stage, on ??the end that’s furthest away from the mural, cow skull, and microphone.

To find this Polaroid after the fact, head to Chapter Sel?ect and then click “Decoherence? then enter into the scene called “Razing the Bar?

The action really amps up in Chapter 4 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and it’s easy to g??et distracted by the rapidly developing story, but you’ll still need to be on the lookout for collectible Polaroids in each scene.

There are a total of four Polaroids to be discovered and collected throughout Chapter 4 of Double Exposure, and each of them is accompanied by an audio clip of the moment in which it was taken. Some are hard??er to find than others, but here are all of Chapter 4’s Polaroids.

All Polaroid locations in Chapter 4 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure

For each of the four Polaroids, let’s ??go throu?gh precisely how to find them, including which timeline you need to be present in. We’ll also list how to get back to each Polaroid if you missed it during your first experience of Chapter 4.

Polaroid #1 - Johnny Cakes

After the interesting e?vents that finish off Chapter 3, Max and Safi will end up back at Max’s house in the Living World. After a lot of much-needed discussion, you’ll eventually gain control of Max and be able to go look for the first Polaroid.

To find it, you’ll? need to be in the Dead World, so make use of the portal by the door?? to get there as soon as you have control. When you’re in the right timeline, head back into the living room and to the coffee table next to the easel in the corner. The first Polaroid can be found on the table.

In case you got swept up by the events of the story the first ti??me around, you can get back to this Polaroid pretty easily b??y selecting “I Thought I Was the Only One?under “Diptych?in Chapter Select.

Polaroid #2 - Krampus on Kampus.

After coming up with a plan to expose Lucas, Safi and Max will head to the Snapping Turtle bar. Once t?here, surrounded by Krampus decorations and with the promise of exciting events ahead of you, you can find the second Polaroid.&?nbsp;

Again, you’ll need to use a portal to switch timelines as soon as you have control of Max to find it. Use the portal by the bathrooms to make your way to the Dead World, then go back into the bar. The second Polaroid can be found on the table to th??e right of the stage.

If you’re heading back in through Chapter Select, this Polaroid (as well as Polaroid #3) can be found in the “No Party Like a Krampus Party?scene under “Diptych.”?/p>

Polaroid #3 - Veggie.

While this Polaroid can be found in the same scene as the previous one, it requ?ires a lot more effort. If you’re going back to get it through Chapter Select, be warned that you’ll need to play through a significant amount of the events from the scene to gain access to the Polaroi?d.

It can be found on the patio outside,? but you won’t be able to get out there until you’ve done all of the following:

  • Talked to Gwen
  • Talked to Reggie
  • Sabotaged Olga the projector
  • Had Moses fix the projector and take over from Reggie

Once you’ve done all that,?? you can talk to Safi and begin the roast. This is when Safi will leave and use her shapeshifting abilities to take the form of Loretta to prevent Lucas from leaving the bar before the plan can be put into action. Head outside to back her up, but make sure to pick up the Polaroid on the green chair first, or you’ll lose your chance.

Polaroid #4 - What the fuck???

After the events at the Snapping Turtle, and after Safi has been told the “whole truth?by Lucas and runs off, leaving behind a trail of destruction and a horribly familiar storm, Max will return to the North Quad. This is where you’ll fin??d the fourth and final Po??laroid for Chapter 4.

To find it, take the path forward and make your way toward the shelter where you picked up the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Chapter 1. On ??t??he left table in the Shelter, you’ll find the final Polaroid.

If you want to get back here through Chapter Select, select “Diptych?and then “Scatterbrained.”?/p>

As you progress through the main story of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, it’s always worth examining your surroundings to make sure that you don’t miss out on any collectibles or optional encounters.&n?bsp;

The collectibles in Double Exposure come in the form of P??olaroids that are littered throughout the different scenes of each ch?apter, and there are five to find in Chapter 3.

Where to find all of the Polaroids in Chapter 3 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure

While some of the Polaroids in Chapter 3 will be fou??nd organically, and all of ?them are hard to miss if you thoroughly inspect all of your surroundings, it’s easy to get excited by where the story is headed and miss one or two. If you want to make sure you find all of them, we’ve got you covered.

Polaroid #1 - Release the Kra-Can!

This will be the first Polaroid you’re able to find in Chapter 3, and can be located in the FAB Coffee Shop when you go to see Yasmin in an attempt to get ?information about Maya.

You’ll need to make sure you’re in the Dead World, so if you’re not, make use of one of the Portals and the Pulse ability to get there. Then, head to the Coffee Shop, and make your way to the table ?in the back corner. You’ll find this first Polaroid the?re.

If you want to get back to this Po??laroid through Chapter Select, choose “Spin?and then select “Unwarranted Reasoning?

Polaroid #2 - Sebastian the Hedgehog

The second Polaroid you’ll be able to find is of a mug with a ceramic hedgehog in it. You’ll be able to pick it up after talking to Lucas a?nd making your way to the Admin Building.

Make sure you’re in the Dead World, or use t??he Portal and Pulse ability to get there, then head into Vinh’s office. On the table where the two of you either ??drank or not in Chapter 2, you’ll find the Polaroid.

Polaroids #1 and #2 can both be found in the “Unwarranted Reasoning?scene of Chapter 2, so head there if you missed e?ither of these during the main play through.

Polaroid #3 - Lucas?Office

Polaroid #3 is a strange one, show??ing Lucas?office in total disarray. You’ll be able to get to it after talking to Lucas in your attempts to get some details about Maya.

After talking to Lucas in the Living World, use the Portal in his room to get to the Dead World, and you’ll fin?d the Polaroid on his bookshelves on the right-hand wall of the room.

If you missed this Polaroid the first time around and want to go back for it later, head to Chapter Select?? and then click on “Spin? Navigate to the “Re: Verses?scene, and you’ll have access to it.

Polaroid #4 - Acid Pink Concert

After your latest en??counter with Safi in the Living World, Max will head to the Snapping Turtle, and this is where you’ll find the fourth Polaroid for Chapter 3??.

As soon as you have control of Max, head over to the small room with the fireplace and sofas, then turn to your left. On the small barrel table in the corner, near the two people sitti?ng and talking, you’ll find the Polaroid, featuring a set of blue drums.

This Polaroid can be found in the “Nobody Wants to ??Drink Alone?scene of Chapter 3 in Chapter Select.

Polaroid #5 - Don’t Drink and Drive

After all of the exciting events that take place at the Snapping Turtle in the previous scene, Max will come home to find her home has been invaded and ransacked. Rather than heading straight to the basement Dark Room, make sure to ex??plore the house so that you don’t miss anything, including the fifth and final Polaroid of Chapter 3.

To find it, use the portal by the front door to get to the Dead World, and then make your way into the not-so-destroyed living room. You’ll find the fifth Polaroid on the table in the top right corner of the room, next to the armchair with ?a lamp lighting up both pieces of furniture.

To find this Polaroid through Chapter Select, click on “Spin? then?? on “Heartbreaking and Entering?

There are a lot of mysteries at play in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and as you play, things will slowly begin to make a little more sense. From th??e very first chapter, we’ve heard the name Maya mentioned a few times, but who is she?

Chapter 3 dives deeper into this question, but the answers are not given freely. Most of the chapter is spent trying to? find out who she was, why she??’s connected to Safi, and who wronged her to the extent that she felt she needed to take her own life?

Unfortunately, talking to the people who knew her will not be a rew?arding experience. In fact, people absolutely shut down at the mere mention of her name. Instead, we’ll need to use Max’s ability to traverse the split timeline in order to get the information we need.

How to listen in on Vinh and Diamond’s confrontation

Diamond and Vinh's confrontation in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

When you arrive in the Admin Building to talk to Vinh about Maya, he won’t want to discuss her, at least not any more than anyone else seems to. However, y??ou can make your way to the Dead World and then enter the Library to find Diamond and Vinh having something of a heated discussion i?n the corner.

Diamond is trying to take the Abraxas leadership from Vinh, and after he walks away, she wi?ll ask you for some information she can use to make him drop out of an upcoming race for leadership.

Either dialogue option will get you the same result, and Diamond will? head off to confront Vinh with the information you’ve just given her. In order to listen to their upcoming argument, make your way to the Living World and?? go into Vinh’s office, then use Pulse to listen in on what’s happening in the other timeline.

With the information now in your arsenal, head back to the Living World and talk to Vinh in his office, using the new information to your advantage. He’ll direct you towards Lucas, telling you that the professor has “blood on his hands? but nothing more. Vinh will also admit that it was him who? put the cow skull through Safi’s windshield, in an attempt to direct her anger towards Lucas.

How to get information on Maya from Lucas

Lucas in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Talking to Lucas won’t really get you anywhere, but that shouldn’t? come as a surprise at this point. Instead, after your discussion in his office, use the Portal there to cross into the Dead World. In this timeline, Lucas has gone to the Burlington?? Book Expo, so you can snoop for as long as you need.

First, interact with th??e family photo on Lucas?desk. Move it around until you c??an see the bottom, and you’ll discover a small key taped to it. With the key in hand, you’ll need to figure out what it unlocks.

The key can be found on the bottom of this photo frame in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are three options:

  • The drawer under the Espresso Machine
  • One of the cabinets of the bookshelves
  • The golden typewriter on display on the shelves

The key will only unlock the golden typewriter, so interact with it to gain access to the secrets within. It turns out that Lucas???book m?ay not be the original piece of work he’s made it out to be. Could his plagiarism be the cause for Maya’s untimely death?

  • A Nice Girl Who Runs a Bar (Romance Amanda)
  • Only Eyes for the Bad Boy (Romance Vinh)

  • Romantically Disentangled (Romance neither Amanda or Vinh)

If you’re wanting to get one or more of these achievements, you’ll need to know how to romance both of Max’s possible love interests. If you want to get the final achiev?ement, this guide will also help you learn how to avoid getting wrapped up in the heat of th?e moment.

It's worth noting that romancing both Amanda and Vinh will prevent you from unlocking either of their individual achievements, so yo?u'll need to play through the chapter at least four times in order to get all four achievements.

Both of these romances can be embarked upon during the third section of Chapter 3, so if you want to go back in via the Chapter Select menu, click “Spin?and then “Nobody Wants to Drink Alone? The best part? You can get both of them done without ever leaving th?e Snapping Tu??rtle.

Once you’ve gained control of Max inside the Snapping Turtle, head to the portal and use the Pu??lse ability to shift over to the Dead World. When you get there you’ll find Vinh propping up the bar with a bottle of what appears to be Wh??iskey.

Interact with Vinh a??nd then speak to him, and Max will join him at the bar. You’ll have a few dialogue options to choose from before things become a little heated, and you end up playing a game of “Smash or Pass?with the fac??ulty of Caledon.

You can be as honest as you li??ke here and let your true feelings come out about the characters you’ve met along the way so far, but eventually Vinh will ask how you feel about him. If you want to romance Vinh, when he asks whether you’d smash or pass on him, select “Kiss Vinh?to begin a whirlwind romance with Caledon’s resident bad boy.

Whether you choose to go down this road before or after you?ve locked lips with Vinh, you’l?l need to make sure that you’re in the Living World if you want to romance Amanda. While there, talk to her at the bar and you’ll embark upon a cute, if a little bizarre, make-believe date.

Eventually, once the date is over and things get a little more serious, Amanda will guide Max to ??the comfy sofas near the fireplace for a very open and honest heart-to-heart. During this conversation, you’ll be given the choice as to whether you want to kiss Amanda or not. Which one you choose is up to you, but it should be obvious that if you want to pursue this romance, you’ll need to kiss her.

With that done, Amanda will? get back to work and you’re free to conti?nue with the rest of Chapter 3.

I really enjoyed the first Life is Strange game. Sure, I found Max a little bland as a character, but it was still a captivating? story I wasn't used to exploring at the time. Now, with Max returning in this direct sequel, I was intrigued to ??see what's changed.

Now that I've given in to my curiosity and spent around ten hours flying through this latest entry, let's have a quick chat about Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

Before diving into this, I need to bring up the original Life is Strange again. Although I won't be spoiling Double Exposure here, the game does expect you to have played ??the prequel and references multiple major plot points from it. I'll avoi??d spoiling these, too, but I will make direct comparisons to both games with this in mind.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure (PC [Reviewed], Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5)
Developer: Deck Nine Games
Publisher: Square Enix
Released: October 29, 2024
MSRP: $49.99

I was already optimistic about Double Exposure after playing the first game. Although I haven't gotten around to playing the other entries in the series, with True Colors sitting comfortably in my Steam Library to play later, I was still excited about this one. Life is Strange was never a perfect ten for me, but it's the closest a choices matter game has gott?en so f??ar.

When I first heard about this sequel, I was a little skeptical about how it would take a similar murder mystery concept from the first game and change it in a way that makes it unique. At first, we're introduced to Max, her best friend Safi, and another important character, Moses. The entire premise focuses on Safi's death, mimicking the Rachel Amber story from the first game, with Max discovering she still has her mysterious powers. They may take a different form now, but they still have th??e unintentional butterfly effect consequences they had the first time around.

If you've already finished the first game, you know exactly how much things escalate early on, with some seemingly random plot twists added for shock value. Double Exposure takes more than a few bits of inspiration from its prequel, but I like how it ties everything together. Like before, everything has a purpose and severe consequences. Well, outs?ide of the dialogue.

Unsurprisingly, Double Exposure follows a very similar premise and plot structure. The twists are a mix of surprises and ones that elicited "Oh, I guessed that two hours ago" reactions from me. It almost felt like a nostalgia trip to the first game, especially as I got through the story's second half. Although not particularly impres?sive anymore, it was a familiar setup that helped me understand what was going on without feeling lost.

And yet, even with that said, I was still hooked the entire way through. During my original Life is Strange playthrough, I was pleasantly surprised by how easily I got immersed into its story despite some of the characters being a tad one-dimensional. Double Exposure also captured this feeling. The only difference is that this time, Max was easily one of the most interesting characters to learn about, and her growth in this time skip is apparent. Age has done a lot to her, and although she's still a bit ner??dy, she's also a lot more confident and bold. What can I say? She's a cool gal.

Life is Strange Double Exposure Max and Safi conversation
Image via Deck Nine Games

Speaking of the time skip, having this take place this far into the future was a solid move on Deck Nine Games' end. Although I certainly related to a few characters in the original Life is Strange, many of the issues Double Exposure's cast faces hit much cl?oser to home, making their circumstances and dialogue choices relating to them feel that much more significant?.

Life is Strange's characters have definitely been the highlight for me so far, and Double Exposure is no exception. There are far fewer memorable characters this time than in the prequel, but they're genuinely fascinating and enjoyable to talk to. The romance options were especially fu?n to get to know, even if I would've liked more depth to the relationship-building. The game's justification for not doing so made sense but left me wa??nting more.

That's my overall feeling towards Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Everything happens so quickly, and I certainly think there was room to get to know the cast a little more, including how Max has been doing since we last saw her. You can get to know people if you snoop around the environment enough, but there was some room to expand further, even if it slightly padded the runtime. Even with that said, I was still happy to meet some new LiS folks and experience some ref??eren??ces to others from the first game.

Life is Strange Double Exposure featured image

There are a few specific characters from previous Life is Strange games that make a comeback in some peculiar ways. A particular one that stuck in my mind appears in the second half of the game, but I'll let you discover who that is and some of the bizarre antics that arise from it. Let's just say I got an unexpected chuckle in between Max's serious and stressful circumsta??nces. I even got surprise laughs from plenty of conversations in this game, which I wasn't expecting when looking back at the somewhat bland dialogue from the prequel.

One point I was initially conflicted about but ended up liking is Max's reintroduction to her powers. While I won't go into them much to prevent spoilers, I enjoyed the changes Double Exposure makes, even if most of it felt like convenient plot devices. When it came to actual gameplay, I had a lot of fun experimenting with the whole timeline-shifting change, especially when seeing how various events impacted the world. Looking past the overarching plot and conflict, seeing the little details in people's behavior, environmental changes, and even different music depending on which timeline you're in all help elevate the already impressive story-telling aspects Life is Strange is known for.

Overall, Life is Strange: Double Exposure is a satisfying sequel that ties in the events of its prequel well. It remembers and stays true to the original story without straying too far from its core. Although it relies a little too much on your having played the first Life is Strange, it continues the adventure well and bal??ances the feeling of familiarity while still keeping things refreshing. If you enjoyed the first game, you're in for a treat with this one.

While there aren’t many true collectibles in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, there are Polaroids to be found in each chapter. Not on??ly can they help pull together the disjointed parts of the story, but you can also earn yourself a few achievements.?

One achievement is for getting all of the Polaroids in each chapter, and you'll g??et another one for gathering up all of th?e Polaroids from every chapter overall. It can be tricky since they’re easy to overlook, but we’ve got you covered with this full guide on how to find all of the Polaroids in Chapter 2.

All Polaroid locations in Chapter 2 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure

There are five Polaroids to be found in Chapter 2, with one to be sought out in each scene. Here’s where to find them all, and how to ?get to them if you’re going back through Chap??ter Select.

Polaroid #1 - Present

Chapter 2 begins with Max sitting in the Snapping Turtle with a newly resurrected Safi and her mother, discussing the book deal that Safi has been trying to make. After the cutscenes are over and you’re able ?to control Max, you’ll need to travel to the Dead World to find the first Polaroid. This will happen naturally as the scene progresses, or you can hop over purely to get the Polaroid and then retur??n to pick up where you left off.

The Polaroid is located in the Dea?d World on the table where, in Chapter 1, Reggie and Diamond were sitting? during your previous visit to the Turtle.

If you’ve alread??y played through Chapter ?2 and missed this Polaroid, you can go back and pick it up through Chapter Select by selecting “Table For Three?under “Penumbra?

Polaroid #2 - The Great Snowball War

In the next scene, once you have control of Max’s movement on the North Quad, don’t immediately begin hunting down Vinh, Gwen, or Lucas. Instead, head towards the shelter where you got the Abraxas Puzzle Box in Chapter 1.

The second Polaroid for Chapter 2 can be found on the right-hand table, and this is the first one that fe??atures Max’s handwriting. This leads to a realization in Max, or at least the beginnings of one.

If you’re going back in via Chapter Selec?t, you can go str??aight to this scene by selecting “By the Horns?under “Penumbra?

Polaroid #3 - Gwen’s Tires?/h3>

As you naturally progress through Chapter 3, you’ll eventually find yourself heading up to the Overlook after Reg??gie describes seeing some bizarre things up there. On yo?ur way, you’ll need to switch between the Living World and the Dead World a few times to get past obstacles and security guards.

Once you reach the Overlook itself, you’ll find the third Polaroid of Chapter 3 on the closest bench, which features an image of Gwen’s bike with deflated tires.

If you missed this Polaroid the first time around, you can dive back into this scene by selecting “Leaving Not?hing Overlooked?under “Penumbra?in Chapter Selection.

Polaroid #4 - Bitter and Sweet

After Moses confides in you that he took Safi’s camera from the crime scene and deposit?ed it in a secret hiding spot inside his office, you’ll start jumping between timelines to avoid d??etection by Detective Alderman. While you’re doing this, make sure to pick up the fourth Polaroid.

It can be found inside Moses?office, but you’ll need to be in the Dead World for it to show up. While in the Dead World, head towards the door separating you from Moses and Detective Alderman, and look left towards the three PC monitors that are turned on. To the left of these screens, you’ll fin??d the fourth Polaroid.

This scene can be accessed through C??hapte??r Select by choosing “Avoiding Detection?under “Penumbra?

Polaroid #5 - Horror Movie Night

The fifth and final Polaroid of Chapter 2 can be found once you’ve rescued Safi’s camera (and Moses, in the process), and are back at Max’s house?? to look at the imag??es on the camera. However, if you don’t do things in a particular order, you can miss out on this Polaroid easily.

Whi?le in Max’s house, approach the back door to trigger a cutscene of a cat meowi??ng on the other side. While I know it’s tempting to immediately rush to the door to let the kitty in, you need to hold off a second to pick up the Polaroid. It’s located on top of the sideboard to the left of the back door.

If you missed out on this Pola??roid because you spiritually sprinted towards the cat at the door (I speak from experience), then you can get back to this scene by selecting “Photo Finished?under “Penumbra?in the Chapter Selection menu.

While playing your way through the chapters of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for collectibles. Within the context of this article, there are Polaroids hidden in each chapter that can help piece together the story, although they aren’t vital??.

If you’re a completionist, or just enjoy the feeling of getting achievements, each chapter has its own achie??vement for collecting all of the Polaroids. There’s also another achievement for getting every Pol??aroid in every chapter, so it’s worth gathering them all.

All Polaroid locations in Chapter 1 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure

There are three polaroids to gather in Chapter 1 of Double Exposure. Here’s where to find them, and how to track them down if you’ve?? already completed the chapter and are going back in through Chapter Select?.

Polaroid #1 - Reggie and Diamond

The first of the three Polaroids to be found in Chapter 1 is in the Snapping Turtle, and can be found relatively early in the chapter. After you’ve arrived at the Turtle with Safi, and you’ve discussed Chloe and Amanda, Max will be free to roam around the area to gather information. This is your opportunity to pick up the Polaroid, so?? make sure to use it.

To find the Polaroid, head left from the bar and into the separate room where the fireplace is, passing by Reggie and Diamond at their table. The Polaroid is located in the? room beyond them, on the high bar table along the right-hand wall.

If you missed this Polaroid during your first playthrough of C?hapter 1, you can explore the scene and pick it up by selecting “A Drink to Remember?under “Still?? Life?in Chapter Select.

Polaroid #2 - Snowman

The second Polaroid shows up after you’ve spent time with Safi and Moses on the Astronomy department balcony. After you’ve left the balcony yourself, and had some time to admire the campus under snow, head towards the beheaded snowman and then cont?inue down this path.

Eventually, the path will briefly branch off to the left, before being blocked by a wooden gate. The second Polaroid can be found in front of this gate on the floor, and is hard to mi??ss as there’s nothing else in th??e area to interact with.

To get to this Polaroid through Chapt?er Select, you’ll need to replay or explore the “Things Are Looking Up?scene under “Still Life?&??nbsp;

Polaroid #3 - Mascot Plushie

The third and final Polaroid in Chapter? 1 can be found after the tragic events, and after Amanda decides that she’s coming over to Max’s place whether she likes it or ??not. While tidying up the place, make sure to look out for this one.

To find the third Polaroid, head downstairs and cross the main living space of Max’s house towards the telescope set up by the window. The third Polaroid can be found on the table just left of the telescope, and features the same plushie that you could take home earlier in the chapter.

If you need to go back and pick up this Polaroid after finishing the chapter for the first time, head?? to Chapter Select and then select “Upstairs, Downcast?under “Still Lif??e?

With newfound powers comes a whole new level of responsibility in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and what greater responsib?ility than helping the innocent get to the bathroom without being shot with dart guns?

Admittedly, this might not be the most important side task you'll ever choose to undertake in Double Exposure, but who knows, maybe it will earn you some good karma in future chapters. Whether or not completing this task will have any actual results later down the line remains to be seen, but there is an achievement for doing it, so here’s how to? get it done if you’re a bit of a completionist.

How to help the timid guy use the bathroom at the Snapping Turtle

As soon as you’ve awoken in Chapter 2 of Double Exposure, you’ll find yourself in the L??iving World with Safi and her mother, Yasmin. This will come as something of a shock, but they’re acting perfectly normally so Max will soon adapt. Once the initial cutscene ends, you’ll be free to explore the Snapping Turtle in this new timeline where Safi hasn’t met with a tragic fate.

While exploring, you may notice a couple of guy?s looking suspicious on the patio opposite the bathrooms. To be??gin this side task, head out onto the patio, talk to them, and Max will ask if they have the bathroom key.

The guys with the bathroom key in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Unfortunately, while they do have the bathroom key, they won’t be willing to hand it over. They won’t even tell you what they’re up to, but thankfully you have a way to listen in without them being awar?e of your presence.

Go back into the Snappin??g Turtle and to the entrance to the bathrooms. Here, you’ll find a portal that will take you to the Dead World. Use it, and once you arrive, head back out to the patio and use the Pulse ability to listen in on the conversation currently going on in the Living World.

Af?ter finding out that they’re aiming to lure a poor man into an attack with dart guns, you can choose to provide him with an alternative key that could help to avoid his fate. To do this, head back into the Snapping Turtle and, staying in the Dead World, go towards the bar to find the hooks holding the bathroom k??ey.

Pick it up and take it back to the Living World, replacing it on the hook there. Sure, the Dea??d World ??now has no bathroom key and the Living World has two, but at least the intended dart gun target can go to the bathroom in peace. His bladder surely thanks you.

If you want to impress Amanda in Chapter 1 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, you’ll need to learn what she likes. While investigating the Snapping Turtle to find talking points, you can choose t?o fix the wrongs o??f an ill-thought-out college prank.

To begin this optional task, head over to the right side of the stage and? look at?? the note from Amanda, which says “To the assholes who keep flipping the paintings: STOP MESSING WITH OTHER PEOPLES ART!?

Clearly, Amanda is passionate about art, which bodes well for any hopes of future romance between her and Max, but for now, the least you can do is flip over all of the upside-down paintings around the Snapping Turtle. There's also an achievement available for completing this task, if you're a completionis??t.

There are a total of three paintings that have been flipped and if you flip all of them, Amanda will be grateful??.

One of these hidden items can be found early on in Chapter 1, as soon as you set foot in the Bowling Alley with Safi. Max Caulfield is back in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and you can bet that wher?ever she goes, weirdness is bound to follow. In this case, a fellow faculty member at Caledon needs a book, and to get it, Max needs to do so??me lock-picking.

The events we’re about to cover won’t happen until late in Chapter 1 of Double Exposure, so you’ve got a while to get familiar with your surroundings on campus before you reach ??this point. After certain tragic events occur, you’ll need to go and talk to Yasmin in her office in the Admin Building, but you’ll need to wait before she’s ready for you.

One of the side tasks you need to undertake before you can get in to see Yasmin is helping Gwen in the Library. She wants a book fr??om a locked cabinet, and with Max’s breaking and entering skills, it’s up to us to get it for her.

How to get Gwen’s book in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Afte??r Vanh tells you to wait for a while before entering Yasmin’s office, you’ll hear Gwen shouting expletives in the Library. You’ve likely explored the building before heading for Yasmin’s office, but just in case, the Library can be found across the hall and to the right from the waiting area.

Talk to Gwen, and she’ll ask you to break into the cabinet to get the book, then interact with the book and inspect it to find a copy of the same book from Shelf 12 in the sam?e Library.

Shelf 12 is located to the right of where Gwen is currently standing if you’re looking at her from behind, s??o you can go and retrieve the book if you want, although this step is optional because the book isn’t good enough for Gwen. She will only accept the one from the cabinet.

Shelf 12 in the Library in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

There ??are three possible tools for this that can be interacted with, and they’re dotted around the Admin Building, but only one of them is the ??tool you need to get into the cabinet.

Here are the two items ??you can interact with, although you can skip this step if you want to go straight to getting the book:

  • Ink Pen

    • Located on the table close to Shelf 12 in the Library

  • Scissors

    • Located in the office opposite the entrance to the Library, on the desk in front of you as you enter the room

If you want to kill two birds with one stone, you can also pick up the package for Vanh in the room where the scissors can be found. It’s in a? box on the lower shelf to?? your left as you enter the room.

The tool that you actually need is, bizarrely, a spoon. This spoon can?? be found back in the waiting room for Yasmin’s office, next to the Coffee Mac??hine. Interact with it to inspect it, and then pick it up and return it to the Library.

Interact with the cabinet ?and select the “Pick?option, and you’ll successfully get Gwen’s book out of the cabinet.

During Chapter 1 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Max will head up to the balcony of the Astronomy department with Safi and Moses to w?atch a meteor shower. During the evening, Safi will cryptically allude to some good news without going into detail.

There is a way to get this information out of her, and it involves a bott?le cap that forces the holder to do anything they’re told to do, within reason. I’m fairly confident there isn’t any actual magic involved aside from the power of friendship.

To reach the point where Max has the bottle cap, you’ll need to wait for the cutscenes to end and then approach Moses at the computer. Max will?? ask him if he wants to know Safi’s good news, and that’s when he’ll tell her about the bottle cap. Unfortunately, we can’t just hand it to Safi, and will instead need to trick her into taking it.

Where to hide the bottle cap in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Once you’ve got the bottle cap in your possession, it’s time to look around the balcony for different methods to discreetly pass it over to Safi. There are a lot of things to interact with up he?re, but in reali?ty, only four of them are relevant for this purpose:

  • Safi’s Bag next to the chair she was previously sitting in
  • Snow Bank to the left of the entrance to the balcony
  • Cigarette Pack on the balcony balustrade near Safi
  • Sour Candy on the cooler next to Safi’s chair

What happens if you hide the bottle cap in Safi’s bag?

Hiding the bottle cap in Safi's bag doesn't work in Life is Strange: double Exposure

Max says herself that Safi is insanely protective over her bag and will likely notice if you go anywhere near it. Despite this, you can still choose to try and hide the bottle ??cap inside. Sadly, she will notice you snoopi??ng, and this option won’t work.

What happens if you put the bottle cap in a snowball?

Hiding the bottle cap in a snowball doesn't work in Life is Strange: double Exposure

As it turns out, Max does not have a good throwing arm. Placing the bottle cap in a snowball made from the Snow Bank does not go according to plan, and Max completely misses Safi?, sending both the snowball and the bottle cap over the edge of the balcony.

What happens if you hide the bottle cap in the cigarette packet?

Hiding the bottle cap in Safi's cigarette packet doesn't work in Life is Strange: double Exposure

Safi is a bit of a chain smoker at times, so one of your options is the cigar??ette packet located close to her. Despite trying to be sneaky, Safi will absolutely see Max hiding the bottle cap in the packet and immediately call her out for doing it.

What happens if you hide the bottle cap in the sour candy?

Hiding the bottle cap in the sour candy is the right answer in Life is Strange: double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

This is the only way you can get the bottle cap to Safi successfully. Hide the bottle cap in the sour candy and then offer some to Safi, who will eagerly hold out her hand in acceptance. Max will then pour th??e bottle cap into Safi’s hand, and you’ll be able to either force the good news out of her or not, depending on which choice you go for.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is filled with choices to make, each with its own consequences. Even what seems like t??he smallest decision at the time can lead to drastic story differences down the line, so it can be tough to know what choice to make.

There are a lot of decisions to be made in Double Exposure, and while not every si??ngle choice you make will dictate the possible ending you uncover, some of them are really that important.

One of these choices in Chapter 1 is whether to answer Loretta’s questions or not. Whether you giv??e her the answers she wants for her podcast or otherwise call her bluff, there are consequences to each choice. Here’s what you need to know about the decision you’re being asked to make??.

Should you answer Loretta’s questions?

Answer Loretta's questions or call her bluff in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Loretta will approach you after your meeting with Yasmin, and she’ll get very pushy about her podcast before proceeding to ask questions that Max definitely wouldn’t be comfortable answering after previous events of the chapter. W?hat’s worse, she’ll try to blackmail you by threatening to tell Gwen that you were listening to her phone call.

Partway through the conversation, you’ll be offered the choice to either answer he??r questions begrudgingly or to call her bluff.

What happens if you answer Loretta’s Questions?

Loretta in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you choose to answer Loretta’s questions, things get pretty intens??e, and Loretta doesn’t have much tact when it comes to her interviewing skills. After telling Loretta that you don’t think Safi was dipping into school funding, she’ll ask whether Safi had “pissed somebody off,?and in ??response, you’ll have three choices:

  • Gwen
  • Yasmin
  • Vinh

Although you’re not blaming any of them for the murder of Saf??i, choosing this option does put you at risk of seeming accusatory. Each of them has their ??own connection to Safi (Mentor, Mother, and what you might describe as a rival), but there’s no real reason to suspect any of them yet, so be mindful of who you choose to put on the chopping block at this point.

What happens if you call Loretta’s bluff?

Gwen in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Surprisingly, Loretta will indeed go directly to Gwen’s office and knock on the door to rat you out for eavesdropping on her previous conversation. Gwen will chastise Loretta and send her away with her tail between her legs, b??ut that doesn’t mean you get off withou??t ramifications.

After Loretta has left, Gwen will turn on you and say that sh??e thought the two of you were cool, and no a??ttempts to convince her that you are will placate her displeasure at your actions. Ultimately, she will tell you to leave her alone before slamming her office door in your face and locking it.

Another year, another Call of Duty. However, this time feels different. This entry includes omnidirectional movement for ?the first time, letting you move more fluidly throughout? the map as you dodge and slide your way to victory. The game will take place in the 90's and Activision promises on the game's Steam page that it will have a "mind-bending narrative" as the United States approaches the end of the Cold War. The campaign will have varied levels, from stealth sections to blockbuster action. The multiplayer mode will launch with 12 6v6 maps and four Strike maps. Zombies multiplayer is returning as well.

Black Ops 6 will be the first in the series to launch day one on Xbox Game Pass after Microsoft purchased Activision for $68.7 billion. It launches on October 25.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

You'll lead a new team and become the Veilguard, the hero fighting the Elven gods blighting the world. As you'd expect from the series, you'll meet seven different companions, who, according to the Steam page, will have "rich lives and deep backstories."

"Lucanis is charismatic from the jump," said our preview, describing one of the characters in the game. "A suave assassin with a hint of magic and a darkness stirring within him? Sign me up." We'll get to meet him and six other characters when the game launches on October 31.

Another fan-favorite series returns with Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and the original prota?gonist, Max Caufield, retur??ns as the hero. You'll be switching between both timelines to solve the murder and save Safi ??in the parallel universe.

If you preorder the game's Ultimate Edition, you'll get the first two chapters two weeks early on October 15. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for its official October 29 launch for all of the game's chapters.

If I had to give the award for the most ridiculous name of the year for a game, it would be Metaphor ReFantazio. Despite that, a lot is going for this RPG. Coming from the Persona team, this magic-themed RPG has a gorgeous art style and a combination of turn-based and actio??n combat.

"In a year where the high fantasy genre is well-served, Metaphor: ReFantazio could end up being a standard-bearer," said our preview. "Everything feels like it’s in place, and I left my preview feeling like Metaphor was now easily my most anticipated game of the fall season." We'll see if it deserves that moniker when it launches on October 11. You can try a five-?hour prologue demo now if you're ?interested.

Silent Hill 2 (PS5, PC)

Publisher: Konami
Developer:
Bloober Team
Price: $69.99
Release Date: October 8
Trailer

Spooktober is finally upon us next month, and Konami's Silent Hill 2 will likely fill your quota for a horror game during the Halloween season. Remade by Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team, we'll be exploring the atmospheric, fog-filled town of Silent Hill. The main character receives a letter from his deceased wife and decides to revisit the town where they shared memories. The game supports ray tracing tech and will feature "cutting-edge technical enhancements," according to the Steam page. Konami says, "The world of Silent Hill and its unsettling? ambiance is e?ven realer than before."

Bloober Team doesn't have the best track record with average scores from critics (The Medium scored a 71 on Metacritic, and Blair Witch fared worse), but it does show shines of brilliance within the dark atmosphere of Observer: System Redux.

Indie Highlight: Europa (Switch, PC)

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is putting players back in the shoes of Max Caulfield, the iconic protagonist of the original Life is Strange. And as if that’s not exciting enough, this time she’ll be armed with an all-new power: the ability to enter alternate timelines in which certain characte??rs are st??ill alive.

From the trailers and teasers that Deck Nine has given us, we know that Max will use her new power to solve the mysterious murder of her friend Safi. However, the ability to enter alternate timelines opens up seemingly infinite possibilities for other Life is Strange characters to return. It also leads us to ask the all-important question- will Chloe be in Double Exposure? We’re pretty sure Dec??k Nine is playing their cards close to the chest and has some exciting surprises in store for us.

10. Joyce Price

Joyce life is strange

Even if you chose the Bae over Bay ending to the first Life is Strange, the powers that Max has in Double Exposure could theoretically allow for key? characters from her past to make a return. Though Joyce is Chloe’s mom and not Max’s, she is still an important figure in Max’s childhood. A few texts, emails, or postcards from Joyce could be a good way to link the new game with the classic one.

9. Chris Eriksen

life is strange captain spirit
Image via SQUARE ENIX

Chris is the imaginative main character of The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit who also plays a key role in Life is Strange 2. We don’t have any confirmation on exactly when Double Exposure takes place, but he might now be about the right age to be a college student at Caledon University, where Max is a photographer-??in-reside?nce.

8. Skip Matthews

skip Matthews life is strange
Image via SQUARE ENIX

Skip Matthews is a security guard at Blackwell Academy in Before the Storm who makes music on the side. Hopefully, his band PissHead made it big, and Max will hear their tunes on the radio. It would certainly bring back some of that classic Life Is Strange spirit and would be a nice lighthearted touch.

7. Max’s Parents

Max Caulfield life is strange
Image via SQUARE ENIX

We don’t know much about Max’s family; they only appear in the original Life is Strange via text messages. But Double Exposure has the opportunity to open up the mystery of their characters a bit more, as it might give Max an even more complex backstory. Regardless of the choices you made and the e??nding you selected, it seems most reasonable for them to still be in contact with Max and w??ant the best for her.

6. Alex Chen

Alex life is strange true colors
Image via SQUARE ENIX

The main character of Life is Strange: True Colors is a deeply empathetic, caring person who has a personality that would blend well with Max’s. It would be nice to find out more about what’s happened to her since the events of True Colors, and even if her appearance is just in the background, it would likely aid in establishing a more fully intertwined Life is Strange timeline.

5. William Price

will Chloe be in life is strange double exposure
Image via SQUARE ENIX

Chloe’s dad William is a key figure in the Arcadia Bay chapters of Life is Strange, despite the fact that he passed away before the games began. If we’re opening up alternate timelines, we’d love to see one in which Chloe and William are both present together- though maybe that’s just wishful thinking. If we do see William again, Deck Nine has to be careful to ensure that his return doesn’t retract the importance of the orig??inal game’s story.

4. Hawt Dog Man

life is strange best characters
Image via Life is Strange Wiki

Hawt Dog Man is an icon of the Life is Strange franchise who’s in every game and?? timeline. There’s no way his mustard-loving self won’t return in some form or another, and no way he wasn't going to nab a spot?? on this list.

3. Rachel Amber

Rachel amber
Image via SQUARE ENIX

Major spoilers for the first game ahead- no matter how you play the original Life is Strange, you can’t save Rachel Amber. Her presence, however, hangs over the entire game to the point where Max can almost feel it, despite never having met her. In the Life is Strange comics, Ma??x is able to meet Rachel in an alternate reality. What if a similar scenario was possible with Max’s new power? I’d love to see how the two would in??teract.

2. Kate Marsh

Kate marsh life is strange
Image via SQUARE ENIX

Kate Marsh is a fellow student that Max cares deeply about in the first game, and so it would, of course, be great to see her or hear from her again in Double Exposure. Her storyline is also the first to truly show players just how powerful Max’s rewind powers are and how much of a difference your choices make in the Life is Strange universe.

1. Chloe Price

double exposure Chloe
Image via SQUARE ENIX

And now for the question we all want answered- will Chloe be in Double Exposure? In one of the preview scenes for Double Exposure, we find out that Max is keeping a photo of Chloe close but that her friend Safi doesn’t know Chloe. This implies that Max might be keeping her past a secret or that she hopes to escape it. Perhaps the latter is more likely since we now find Max on the other side of the country from where she grew up. Years have passed since the first game, and I think it’s fair to say that Double Exposure's Chloe, if she appears, will have to be a very different character than the one we? saw in Arcadia Bay.

We’re excited to see what Square Enix and Deck Nine have in store for us when Double Exposure releases on October 29th, 2024.

After puzzle platformer Jusant and action RPG Banishers: Ghosts of Eden, Don't Nod Entertainment is going back to the well of narrative driven adventure games with it's next title, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. It was supposed to be launching later this year, but the publisher has since announced it's being held back thanks to the surprise announcement of a new Life is Strange game from Deck Nine.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Don't Nod explained this in a press release, confirming a new launch window of early 2025 due to "recent trends and developments in the industry." Life is Strange: Double Exposure was unveiled during the Xbox showcase earlier this month, with it already slated to release on October 29 and bring back the very first game's protagonist Max Caulfield. While Bloom & Rage never ha?d an exact release date, it sounds like Don't Nod was considering an October launch too, or at least intended to have it out within the same time frame.

As a reminder, Don't Nod was the original developer on the Life is Strange series, but moved on after Life is Strange 2, with Deck Nine taking over. Despite not being involved with the newest entry, Don't Nod CEO Oskar Guilbert not only hopes for Double Exposure to do well, but believes delaying Bloom & Rage will benefit both games in the long run. "We know that many of our fans are eagerly awaiting [Bloom & Rage], just as they are the recently announced next installment of Life is Strange," he said, "Let's give both titles the space they need to be enjoyed by our pl?ayers within the large community we have built."

Guilbert's probably not wrong. Bloom & Rage is shaping up to be quite similar to Life is Strange, not just in genre but also general vibes. Its teaser trailers suggest it'll focus heavily on grounded drama between old high-school friends, while still having some supernatural elements. It may star adults instead of teenagers but, at this early stage, it feels like it could've easily been a new Life is Strange game. Given their similarities, there's a chance consumers would opt to buy Double Exposure over Bloom & Rage or vice versa if they launched around the same time, thus limit??ing their sales potential. Both games do stand a better chance if one doesn't launch until many months after the other.

I imagine Double Exposure would've fared a lot better since it's part of an established IP, while Bloom & Rage is entirely new. Plus, Double Exposure bringing back a former protagonist in Max gives it an advantage. Although Deck Nine's reputation did take a hit earlier this year following an IGN report about workplace abuse and Nazi symbols being sneaked into the then unannounced Double Exposure. Time will tell if that will at all?? hamper the game's launch sales.

By comparison, Bloom & Rage has no such controversy swirling around it. "We firmly believe that the wait for Bloom & Rage will be worth it," said Guil??bert. "We look forward to sharing this new adventure, which we hope wi??ll become another memorable chapter in the Don't Nod universe."
