Gamescom 2024 is kicking off in Cologne, Germany on August 20, and Geoff Keighley will be starting the convention with Opening Night Live. There’s s?ure to be a lot of surprise reveals,? but we do know a little something about what to expect. 

Gamescom Opening Night Live will be streaming on both YouTube and Twitch, with what promises to be an epic show beginning at th??e following times, depending on your location:

• 11 a.m. PST
• 2 p.m. EST
• 7 p.m. BST

A pre-show, hosted by Kyle Bosman?, will begin 30 minutes before Opening Night Live. This pre-show will feature additional announcements and trailers, so make sure to sit down and get comfortable for what’s to come!

NetEase Games, which is set to have two unannounced titles set up for visitors to play at its booth at Gamesco?m, will also feature in Opening Night Live alongside a spooky new title from THQ Nordic and Tarsier Studios. A teaser trailer for the latter unnamed game is already available, and intriguing to say the least:

Perhaps the most exciting reveal at the event, at least to me, is a new trailer for Little Nightmares III. The upcoming sequel will feature online co-op gameplay, allowing you to ‘face your childhood fears together� The third game in the Little Nightmares franchise was announced at Gamescom 2023, and the development team made the decision back in May 2024 to delay release until 2025, so I’m excited to see what the n?ew trailer will reveal.

Originally slated for a 2024 release, Little Nightmares 3 is now expected to hit the shelves in 2025. This delay was announced by the developer, Supermassive Games, who cited the need for additio?nal time to enhance the game's qual??ity.

News about Little Nightmares 3's release date may come soon, considering the game will be featured at Gamescom 2024. If we're lucky, it could mean an early 2025 launch, but depending on the development process, it could end up being mu????ch later.

The hype surrounding Little Nightmares 3 began with?? its Announcement trailer, which provided a brief gameplay teaser in Nowhere's desolate universe. You'll remember this place from previous installments, diving into the dark depths of frightful dreams.

While there haven't been any trailers since this debut, we did get a substantial 18 minutes of gameplay in the barren desert of Necropolis. If you've played the games before, the walkthrough offers the same eerie feeling you've likely experienced in the original and its sequel. The soundtrack is utterly haunting, but that's just one of the many things we love about Little Nightmares.

The gameplay of Little Nightmares 3 is reminiscent of its predecessor as you strategize your escape. Puzzles and challenges await you across Nowhere, including a Monster Baby that is the st??uff of nig??htmares.

Who do you play as in Little Nightmares 3?

Low and Alone are the two playable characters in Little Nightmares 3. Low has been lost in the Spiral, a location that's a "cluster of dystopian lands." As a tinkerer, Alone wants to know all the ins and outs of this mysterious universe to sa??tisfy her curious nature. Together, these two best friends must survive to get them back home.

It's worth noting that the previous protagonists, Mono and Six, don't seem t?o be associated with the n?ewest entry. However, the game's producer, Coralie Feniello, confirms that there will be nods to the past titles, ensuring that the essence of the series is not lost in this new installment. If you haven't played the other games, don't worry; the third installment is a stand-alone story.

Does Little Nightmares 3 have co-op?

The Little Nightmares series has primarily been a single-player game, but now the third entry will introduce an online co-op mode. That means you can conquer LN3's many challenges with a friend or family member or play solo using an AI companion. It should be noted that couch co-op play will not be available, as it will remain strictly online for m??ultiplayer.

Fans who were looking forward to Little Nightmares III will unfortunately have to hold on, as the g??ame has now been delayed.

In a post on the official Little Nightmares Twitter, developer Supermassive Game??s revealed ??the game was being delayed, and would now release in 2025.

"As much as we can't wait for you to return to the Nowhere, we also want to make sure we give the game the care and love it deserves." Supermassive said in the statement. "Quality is a top priority for us, and w??e know you feel the same way. For this reason, we've made the decision to shift th??e game to 2025."

"We'll be sharing more about Little Nightmares III later this summer, so please bear wit?h us? and look forward to further updates." the developer promised.

Little Nightmares III was announced in 2023 with a 2024 release window. It is the first in the franchise ?to be developed by Supermassive. The game will follow two young protagonists, Low and A?lone, as they explore a haunting 2.5D world that focuses on exploration, platforming, and puzzles.

The previous games in the franchise were developed by Swedish-based Tarsier Studios, who had to leave the franchise when they were acquired by Embracer Group after the release of Little Nightmares II. Tarsier Studios does n??ot currently have an announced project.??

Little Nightmares has been a cherished franchise since its 2017 launch. The original game followed Six, a girl who had to escape the horrifying vessel known as The Maw. Though Six retuned for 2021's Little Nightmares II, the character and compatriot Mono do not appear to be returning for Little Nightmares III.

During Gamescom, developer Supermassive Games revealed the next entry in the Little Nightmares franchise: Little Nightmares 3. We got a fi??rst look at the gameplay in the third dark atmospheric adventure ??title that will be released in 2024.

Players will follow the journey of Low and Alone, two friends looking to escape the nightmarish world of The Nowhere. In typical Little Nightmares fashion, players ?will encounter signatu??re elements including dubious puzzles and memorable monstrosities including the Monster Baby we see in the trailer.

A?lso, from a gameplay perspective, the sequel adds a new element. Both of the characters have their own unique items to progress through the journey. As such, team??work will be a big part of the adventure with two-player online co-op. However, for those looking to play solo, you will still be able to do so. But instead of another player, AI will control the other character.

Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares 2 are staple dark atmospheric adventure titles in my opinion. It looks like that will only continue with Little Nightmares 3. If you w?ere a fan of the first two, chances are you already know you're getting this one.
