Should auld acquaintance be forgot!

Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, otherwise known as the only part of Federation Force worth a damn, had a demo that included online support. It was basically the entirety of that extra mode which had amiibo support along with allowing you to transfer your save dat??a to the full version. Anyone hoping Nintendo would at least give the demo a fu?ll year of service will be saddened to learn that the demo is to be pulled offline on December 31, 2016.

You have a mere three days left to enjoy this demo online, then you'll have to shell out for Federation Force to keep on blast balling away. If you intend to play offline with friends, that will still be an option. While I wasn't so keen on how the game controlled, I did enjoy how much Nintendo seemed to have copied Rocket League. Blast Ball was also relatively inoffensive to the Metroid name, whereas Federation Force kind of misses the entire point of the series.

We'll always have Blast Ball

Next Level Games is in a good spot. Since 2014, it has just been working with Nintendo even though it's technically an independent developer. Despite having a history with low-key ports, it hit the big-time with 2009's Punch Out!!, as well as Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

I'm not sure what's next after Metroid Prime: Federation Force, but I ?hope the studio can regain some of that magic??.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
Developer: Next Level Games
Publisher: Nintendo
Released: August 19, 2016 (US) / August 25, 2016 (JP) / September 2, 2016 (EU)
MSRP: $39.99

Aegis, Excelcion, Bermuda system. These are all phrases Federation Force throws at you in the first several minutes. They might mean something to the most stalwart of Metroid fans, but to everyone else??, it's white noise. That diarrhea of terms sums up the entire plot, and thus, the justification of this spinoff in a nutshell. It's a fun popcorn co??-op romp, and not much else.

Federation seems to be canon, taking place between the first two Metroid games, just like the Prime series proper. Phazon has been destroyed, and the "good guys" are making a move to eradicate Space Pirates. That's where you come in as a plucky marine from the Galactic Federation, in an adventure spanning three planets with roughly 10 missions each. It all plays out like a Monster Hunter lite. In fa??ct I'd recommend it to be people who feel overwhelmed by that series, because it's much easier to get into and lacks a lot of t?he grinding elements.

Throughout my time with it, I really felt it was clear that Next Level Games does care about the source material. There's familiar enemies that accompany some new ones that fit the universe perfectly; shooting blue doors to open them feels like a nostalgic endeavor; and firing off missiles and super missiles just feels right. Even the new "squad" elements like healing friends with medic drops don't feel too far removed, and the idea of kitting out different players to perform dynamic roles works as it should. Hell, I even like the chibi heads and quad-colored suits. It feels a little muted compared to the great Alien-esque, terrifying atmosphere of the real Prime games, but as a spinoff, it's fine. P??lus, the sound design (especially with headphones) can be surprisingly haunting in spite of its soft veneer.

My issue lies in its inability to remain gripping throughout as an action game, which is partially to blame on? the ??lack of balance for solo play. Maps feel large, but limited, and have very little in the way of secrets or hidden zones off the beaten path. Sure it has online capabilities (as well as local options, sadly sans download play for the campaign) to help ease that pain, but finding people to sortie with months down the line is likely going to be tough.

Its biggest problem? The three planets are different enough (ice, desert, and gas), but the missions within aren't. In a typical Metroid game you're bounding through zones at a rapid pace, weaving in and out of a world that feels connected, even if it's technically comprised of segmented themed areas. But in Federation Force, the level-based setup and world map don't really do it any favors, and expose its one-note nature. It would have been better to see more meaningful missions spread across more locations -- because as it stands, a lot of the ??replay value is intrinsically linked to a score-attack gimmick that I don't have much of an incentive to go for.

The controls also take some getting used to, mostly because they have to conform to the limitations of the 3DS. There's gyro or nubbin' (read: right stick) aiming, along with a lock-on feature and a quick "jet boost" strafe mechanic. The nubbin' can induce a mighty feeling of cramping when you're shooting off volleys of rapid shots, and ironically, I also don't prefer using the gyro function when I'm lying down playing 3DS games -- quite the conundrum! It's a personal thing, so grab your 3DS, move the nubbin' (o??r Circle Pad Pro) like you're aiming, then press the R button around 100 times to see how you feel. It's doable (I love the touch of having L as the jump and strafe button, and how everything is accessible with your fingertips on top), but not over long periods of time.

Although I wouldn't really say the ho-hum experience is "saved by the Blast Ball" (I really just wanted to use that line), it's certainly helped by it. As a three-on-three affair, this Rocket League-like event is a thing of beauty, serving as both a minigame and a tutorial for the core questline. They took something that's usually a drag and made it an entire mode, and did it with gusto, with download play, to boot. Oh, and there's even a concession for all you Blast Ball ?demo players -- you ??can transfer all your data over in the full version.

I was holding out hope for Metroid Prime: Federation Force, but at this point, there are so many other dungeon crawlers that are worth your time. Just like Hunters on the original DS, the main questline of Federation will probably fade out of the limelight over time and become a whisper in hardcore Metroid crowds -- t??hough ??I can see Blast Ball having longer legs.

Lovin' it up while I'm goin' down

One of my most anticipated games just got a new trailer that has me even more pumped. I'm speaking, of course, of Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a game that takes the formula of the Prime series and combines it with a bit of Monster Hunter, it seems. Sounds like?? a winning combinati?on to me!

This trailer has a lot of Michael Bay-like ??quick cuts, but we g?et to see all kinds of cool explosions, giant monsters, and four-way fun! What's not to love?

No longer overwhelmingly negative

Let's check in with the E3 2015 trailer for Metroid Prime: Federati.....whoa! It's 10,000+ likes to ??88,000+ dislikes. That's right, people hated it.

But wait, there's more. It's been over a year now, and some of you out there have came around to it. In the game's newest trailer (that's m??ore like an informative vig??nette clocking in at 15 minutes, including some developer insight bits), there's 2,400 likes, and 2,200 dislikes at the time of this writing.

Maybe it's the positive impressions pieces around the web? Or the goodwill the free Blast Ball demo generated? Or perhaps people don't care anymore. If you're still undecided, go grab Blast Ball for free on 3D??S ??and see how the controls grab you.

It still looks meh

Noticeably absent at E3, Metroid Prime: Federation Force still exists, and is creeping up with an August release. If you're still on the fence about it Nintendo has provided 10 full minutes of footage on their YouTube channel, which looks...incredibl??y bland.

At the very end of the trailer (whic??h you can watch in isolated form at the bottom), Nintendo shows off planned amiibo support for the game, which essentially amounts to themed skins for Blast Ball, and upgrades for the campaign if you use the Zero Suit or regular Samus figures.

I'm always willing to give things a shot but this does not look appealing outside of the potential for a fun time in ?co-op.

Let's shave another Metroid into Zack's hair

Nintendo announced a new Metroid at E3 last year. Unfortunately it's Metroid Prime: Federation Force, which is, uh, well. Fortunately, this technicality did mean that we got to try and shave an approximation of a metroid into Zack's hair in a bathtub at E3 last year.

Federation Force will be at PAX East if you want to play it. Nintendo also let loose the release date: August 19 in the US and September 2 in Europe. It was originally expected earlier in the year. But this means we'll all be together at E3 again for Nintendo to talk all about it some more, so I vote we shave another metroid ??into Zack's hair, even though he's trying to grow it out at the mome??nt.

Please join me in peer pressuring him.

And not very much shooting

GameXplain has posted the above gameplay footage lasting just over 18 minutes showing off an entire level in the upcoming Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a game that I was pretty hyped for; past tense. I'm all about slow, lonely exploration, but when you add three friends into the mix it ends up feeling like a bit of a crawl, the same way I feel about Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

I'm thinking Nintendo is trying to capture the feeling of past Metroid titles where you mostly wander through an alien land in isolation, but it just doesn't look fun here. I could see if there was some tension to be built up, but that doesn't seem to happen as enemies look easy to defeat without much fuss. I'm hoping that the boys at GameXplain were playing on an easy difficulty, or Nintendo ups the difficulty and enemy health before it launches sometime in 2016. A?s it stands now, it looks boring as hell.

Nintendo, now I have doubts...I have such doubts.

Nintendo removed the likes/dislikes display from the trailer

Recently, I threatened to start a pet??ition to cancel all upcoming Nintendo Directs unless more Metroid Prime: Federation Force was shown, but luckily Nintendo caved to my demands and showed off the game. The Internet's reaction to the latest trailer on YouTube has been so negative that it prompted Nintendo to disa?ble the counter that displays likes? and dislikes; before removal, it was about a o?ne to three ratio in favor of dislikes.

To say I wasn't super excited to see new footage of the game would be a lie; taking down large creatures in the Metroid universe with my friends is something I never knew I wanted, till now. Nintendo has a history of taking its IPs and innovating, creating things that fans may not have asked for. The reactions and results to these innovations are usually the same: fans are upset that the game isn't what they had hoped for, yet after release most everyone ends up loving the game. This flip flopping happened with both The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and the original Metroid Prime.

All the way back in the year 2001 there were so many threads on IGN's forums complaining about The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker after release that someone consolidated them into one classily named "Official Zelda Bitch Thread."

Some of the many complaints laid out include "It ticks me off that they have to make it so kiddy. They have to make Link look like he needs a diaper," and "[Link] Looks like a reject from Hey Arnold or a similarly badly animated pr?ogram. I wanted Mature, I ??got 5 year old!"

Fans were upset that Nintendo didn't deliver the Zelda game they had all pictured in their heads, sayi?ng, "This is a VERY bad dream, it can't be happen?ing."

Reactions to Metroid Prime are strangely a bit harder to find, but at the time fans were upset the game ditched the platforming for a first-person view, and? were concerned it couldn't replicate the feel of the previous?? titles in the series.

Nintendo keeps doing what Nintendo does, surprising us time and time again. Just during the last Nintendo Direct there were multiple of these surprises. Did I ever think, "I want a Kirby game where he drives mechs?" Sure didn't, but I do now that I've seen Kirby: Planet Robobot in action. Have I ever wished that Slippy the Frog from Star Fox had his own game? Well yes, but never in a million years did I think I wanted to play a game featuring his uncle G??rippy who sports a mustache and soul patch combo.

I understand that many gamers want game series to stay similar to previous titles -- I'm even guilty of it myself as I haven't played Metal Gear Solid V because I just don't dig it being open world -- but I think we should give Federation Force a chance. Fans want a mainline Metroid title from Nintendo, but the last one, Other M, wasn't so well received by fans, so?? why not give Nintendo a chance to try something else?

Meanwhile, there are plenty of decent Metroid-like games out there to quench your thirst that are similar to the series roots such as Axiom Verge, Xeodrifter, and Environmental Station Alpha.

Federation Force looks like it could be a lot of fun to me. What other game lets you and three friends blast away at monsters with arm cannons in first person on the 3DS? None. Maybe it isn't Samus, but I'm all about interesting gameplay. I've got enough platformers and RPGs on my 3DS and not nearly enough shooters (at least good ones; looking at you, Dementium Remastered). I'm aboard the hype train, though, from the Internet's reaction, I imagine the train isn't a fully fledged steam engine, but a tiny toy train that somehow supports my mass??ive bearded body.

So what exactly about Metroid Prime: Federation Force don't you like other than a perceived notion that it somehow keeps Nintendo from releasing a different non-existent Metroid title?

'Absolutely belongs in the Metroid universe'

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is coming to 3DS in late spring, Nintendo?? just announced.

Speaking during today's Nintendo Direct presentation, producer Kensuke Tanabe spoke about the title's development, which started in as 2009 on the Nintendo DSi. The development team eventually decided the portabl?e's hardware wasn't capable of what they were envisioning for the project and scrapped it until the New Nintendo 3DS came along.

Tanabe also said his team "wanted to use this new game to tell the story of the battle between the Galactic Federation and the Space Pirates," something Tanabe had imagi??ned and wanted to do for more than a decade, but never had an opportunity to do??.

Despite sporting a new group of protagonists and only featuring series protagonist Samus Aran in a cameo role, Tanabe asserts Federation Force is something that "absolutely belongs in the Metroid universe." From the sound of it, it seems like Tanabe is well aware of the vocal contingent of fans who are upset over this spin-off's existence and want a ?new mainline entry.

Okay

Ah, Metroid Prime: Federation Force. I suspect that we'll be debating the merits of this game until it launches, when...we'll be able to actually debate for real since it'll be out. Until then, we can only speculate on what to expect, and CGM has uncovered a few great tidbits compliments of the game's producer, Kensuke Tanabe.

For starters, Tanabe reminds us that Samus will be in the game in some form, and it may allude to what happened post-Prime 3. When asked point blank about the franchise heroine, he stated, "That’s for sure. You will see her in some way. I feel like that’s something nice about this game. It’s kind of like a mix." He explains earlier that, "so in Metroid Prime 3, there’s sort of hints where Sylux is sort of there. In a way to sort of create that potential for the story,?? between Samus and Sylux." Tanabe  goes on?? to say that he "expected" that fans would react in a negative way to the project.

The focus of the game is to tie the universe together, as Tanabe puts it "similar... to the Aveng??ers where they had individual movies focus in on one hero and now this is the team up that brings it all together." We'll find out how this whole situation is re?solved sometime in 2016.

Mega64 never ceases to entertain me and its just-released Metroid Prime: Federation Force petition spoof is proof of that. 'Trust us'

Many a Nintendo fan were met with disappointment one week ago when a new Metroid game was announced, but it wasn't anything like the Metroid game that they actually wanted. It didn't take long for the Internet to organize a petition for that game's cancellation. Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime h??as seen those efforts, a??nd he says to those people "Trust us."

In an E3 interview with Kotaku, Fils-Aime makes it clear that he's aware of the petition, and insists that fans just need to place some faith in Nintendo. He cited The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker as a similar situation. "So, the game is developed, becomes one of the most beloved games of all time, one of the most highly-rated games of all time, so I use that example to say: 'We know what we’re doing, trust us, play the?? game and then we can have a conversation,'" he said.

Continuing, Fils-Aime showed some awareness by stating "Look, we know that the fans want a straight Samus Aran game." But, he doesn't think an imminent reveal aligns with Nintendo's marketing strategy. "[Other companies] announce a project that you may not see for five, six years. It’s just not the way we do things. We know the community wants to see a straight-up Metroid game. We know it."

Just because Nintendo knows fans want a proper Samus game doesn't mean it'll ever deliver. But, if it eventually does, you know da??mn well it'll be on its own terms.

Preview: Metroid Prime: Blast Ball

Ah, young, handsome Zack Furniss. Relatively new to Destructoid and attending his first E3 for the site, Zack was wide-eyed and hopeful. He imagined a world of Metroid Prime 4 or Super-er Metroid and took his e3thusiasm to declare that, should Nintendo announce a new Metroid, he'd let someone at Destructoid shave a metroid into the back of his head.

Capitalizing on this bet, cruel Nintendo took a 3-vs-3 space soccer game and added "Metroid" to the title. Lo, a new Metroid was announced, technically.

Zack, a man of his wor??d, would be shaven. Me, a man of manyThursday beers and one broken finger, would serve as shaver.

Mixed emotions!

So, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, guys! It was announced, and it was quickly banished into the co?rner of E3 hours later -- the corner that no one wanted to talk about. But there were a lot of people who had strong opinions on the matter, so talk we shall. I read through every comment, and picked out all sides of the argument as best I could.

Here's a selection of what everyone had to say about the announcement and the prospect of another spinoff Metroid game before a proper series entry.

Crooks kicked things off, explaining why people might h??ate it:

I don't care about Metroid, but that game just looks like some cheap shitty looking robots with the Metroid name slapped on. These could be any kind of robots, only the form of the head looks a bit like metroid. I can understand that people hate it.

FlanxLycanth is already done with Federation Force:

Why is thi?s even a question. It's shit, we can all see that. Let's talk about something more important like Lemonade or bra sizes.

Electric Reaper says it shouldn't be called "Metroid":

Speaking for myself, I was looking for another main entry in the Metroid series, like another 2D sidescroller adventure platformer shooter, or a 3D adventure shooter with puzzle elements. Federation Force just doesn't really fit with the Metroid games with Samus Aran as the player character, like Fusion, Zero Mission, or Corruption.

I'm honestly thinking the "Metroid" part of Metroid Prime: Federation Force should be removed, since even though it takes place in the Metroid universe, it doesn't seem to involve Samus Aran in any way, or the traditional elements of a Metroid game. The game might still be fun on its own, but it's not a true Metroid game.

NinjaBlaze is not happy with any aspect of it:

I don't like the notion that being disappo??inted with the game is associated with being a rabid Metroid fan?? or a Nintendo fan that doesn't like change.

I have no problems with games going i??n different directions and trying new things, and I'm not the biggest Metroid fan by any stre?tch

I just think the game will be shitty because it, well, looks like shit, in general. Everything down to the aesthetics to the gameplay design choices. It's not that it looks like a bad Metroid game, it just looks like ??a bad game in general imo.

Nathan D says this is indicative of a bigger ??problem?? at Nintendo:

The problem with the "don't buy it" argument is that if it bombs, knowing Nintendo they'll take it as no one being interested in the series and shelf it for longer. A?s of now it looks like even if this doesn't bomb that another core game is at least 3 years away regardless.

Applying simple? business properties to Nintendo is like trying to use calculus to ??unplug a toilet, not compatible.

JohnSmith123&??nbsp;had a lighter view, but was still disappointed:

After Other M, I hoped that Nintendo would make a good Metroid game that'd bring fans back to franchise. This was their answer. A co-op dudebro shooter that takes Samus out the game entirely with Metroid tacked on the front. Oh and s??occer.

I'm kind of bummed out by that.

Pedrovay2003 weighs in on this, and Other M, and it doesn't sound hopeful:

Honestly, from what I've seen right now, it looks like Generic Space Shooter: The Game. I haven't even seen a hint of what makes Metroid Prime what it is other than the camera angles, and graphically, I think Hunters on the original DS looked better.

I'm one of the very few people I know (at least on the Internet) who truly liked Other M. It wasn't without its flaws, sure, but I thought it was a fine entry into the Metroid series. This new game doesn't even remind me of Metroid; if it wasn't in the title, I wouldn't know what series it belonged to, if any. Seeing as how it's more of a spin?off than a main title, though, I really can't complain too much; I just probably won't buy it, because it doesn't look like it offers anything over co-op first-person shooters I can get on consoles or the PC.

Fenriff has a pretty middle of the road view on it:

Whether or not it will be a fun game is anyone's guess at this point. It might very well turn out to be good. The problem is the slapping of the Metroid name on it seemingly just to help it sell. It's not even the fact that Samus isn't in it. Metroid, at least for me, isn't about Samus, it's about that sense of wonder and exploration. Fighting your way through alien hordes on an alien world alone. This seems like a mission based co-op shooter with Metroid Prime paint.

Who knows though.

Warruz is more hopeful:

I am generally ok with this game, I wish the style was more....Hunters looking and personally I think they should drop Prime from the title (Metroid: Federation Force), but generally the concept I am for. Its a chance to actually expand the Metroid universe outside of just Samus which simply put hasn't happened and if ?the franchise is to grow then ?its a must.

Nintendo know's its fans in that they don't take to new IP's well(see Code Name Steam, even though its a good game), so if Nintendo wants to provide different games like an FPS game that involves co-op then they need to take an existing universe and do it there. Simply put, Metroid is the universe to build FPS games in, and Metroid Prime is more of an adventure game then it was a shooter(first two games didn't even really have aiming, it was just lock on). So whats the way to get a more traditional FPS game for Nintendo? Expand the Metroid Universe.

Just drop prime from the title and r??econs??ider the look.

Zen Grenadier will wait until launch to decide:

Honestly I don't care much for the title. I only want to know two thi??ngs.

Is it f??un? And will it keep me invested in playing it after the first day? Answers I won't know until I get to try it. These are the only things I care about in a?? video game.

And Waifus. I REALLY care if it was Waifus.

Evergreen doesn't seem to mind at all:

Would I rather have a more traditional Metroid? Of course!

At the same time, I'm glad to see Nintendo taking a risk with one of their IPs and do??ing somethi??ng new with it.

chiptoon is another righteous individual who liked Other M, and weighs in on Federation:

I loved Other M. Its such a blast to play. Its like arcade Metroid.

I'm also quite keen on Federation Force. I think they could have sidestepped alot of the negativity by not adding Metroid Prime to the ??name. Just let it be in the universe without headlining that fact.

Vectorman12345 says this situation is familiar:

Honesty, I'm willing to give it a chance. I remember when the original Metroid Prime came out, people complained about the first person view and how it wasn't true to the nature of the Metroid series.

As a group, we gamers have entitlement problems, I admit it. But when it comes to situations like this, I'll choose to judge the game for what it is and not for what it isn't. Doing that so?rt of thing can?? deprive you of potential enjoyment.

Seriously though, someone should write an article about the vitriol for the original Metroid Prime before it came out.

Isay Isay gave us some valuable insight into the decision:

Well 4 isn't a prime number,?? so they had to mix it up.

There you have it! See, we can ha??ve a discussion about video games.

Let's have a discussion

I haven't seen a reaction this ??strong in quite some time.

Just two days ago during their 2015 E3 press conference, Nintendo revealed Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Emotions, to say, the least, were high. Some people are angry that it exists, rather than a proper Metroid game. Some people are angry at those people. Some folks are saying "Destructoid" as a whole?? condemns the gamers that are upset about it. Well it's a good thing Destructoid is comprised of more than one writer!

As a Metroid fan, I totally get it. I mean, I was surprised to see the dislike ratio so high for the debut trailer, but fans haven't had a solid new game in the franchise since 2007's Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (as much as I like Other M for what it is, I wish it was better). I'm willing to give Federation Force a shot of course, but it's very strange that Nintendo continues to tap dance around this franchise. At least Donkey Kong had plenty of play in other games before Donkey Kong Country Returns was out -- Samus barely gets any love.

Much like the Mass Effect 3 ending talk, I want to hear your thoughts and have a discussion. I'll locate th??e best responses from all sides of the argument, and present a follow-up piece in the near future.

Sure, it could use some work

Since I've been busy at E3 I haven't been able to check out the Nitendo Treehouse live streams (which were excellent last year, are they good this year as well?) but I did look up this replay of Metroid Prime: Federation Force to see some more gameplay since the trailer didn't really show us much. Grouping up with three of your friends to take down large enemies using weapons from the Metroid universe looks genuinely fun.

I know I was harsh and could have probably chosen better words when I called people petitioning Nintendo to cancel the game ??entitled babies, but what can I say? I'm passionate about video games, and it sometimes gets the best of me when people call for a g?ame to be canceled just because it offends their personal tastes. I understand a lot of you are upset because this isn't the 2D side-scrolling Metroid game you've been asking for for years, I felt the same way when playing Kirby's Epic Yarn. This isn't what you've been asking? for, but maybe it could be fun?

If you check out the gameplay above, it looks like all the staples of the Metroid Prime series are there. You've got an arm cannon, missiles, an alien world to explore, and some monsters to shoot at, all in first person. I agree that the characters ??look ugly and don't fit the universe well, but I'm also keeping in mind that? this is just a side game, and not a flagship entry in the main series. I'm not afraid that the whole Metroid franchise is doomed just because some aspects of this? multiplayer focused, 3DS experime??nt look a tad janky.

Fans have every right to be u??pset and voice their opinion, I just can't agree with them trying to get a game canceled, no matter the case. Art deserves to exist, whether or not you agree with it. More important, someone may actually like the game, so why should we keep it from the??m if it isn't hurting anyone? Sure, that petition has no chance of ever going anywhere, but if you're driving any kind of anti-game movement forward, you'd best be ready to be called out.

If I were to make a petition as a Metroid ?;fan it would probably be something along the lines of asking for?? what I want in a game, not demanding one be taken away from those looking forward to it.

Have you played it? Didn't think so

Fans of the Metroid series have taken to Change.org to petition that Nintendo cancel the just-announced Metroid Prime: Federation Force for 3DS stating:

Metroid Prime: Federation Force was announced at the Nintendo digital event on June 16, 2015. For almost a decade, long time Nintendo fans have been waiting for a true Metroid game. Metroid is one of Nintendo's most beloved and respected franchises spanning almost 30 years of legacy. The foundations of isolation, atmosphere and exploration in unknown planets are what made Metroid great. With the release of the Wii U and its greater technological capabilities thousands of fans were expecting a new and improved Metroid game.

What we got however is a disgrace of a game with the name "Metroid" slapped on the title. It has no elements at all of what Metroid is about and its a disrespectful manner to old and new fans of the series of showing them that the Metroid franchise is not dead afterall. This is not the Metroid we asked Nintendo to make. We should let Nintendo know what we really think of the game and make them actually LISTEN to their fans for once. Help us stop this atrocity of a game from bearing the beloved Metroid franchise name and make N?intendo halt production on it.

The petition also notes the number of dislikes on the official trailer for the game stating, "Please notice the 90% dislike ratio. NO ONE wants this game." As it sits 25,575 people have given the video a thumbs down while 2,567 people have given it a thumbs up. So it sounds like 2,567 people do want the game, and you can add me to that list as well because of this. I have a feeling Dtoid's own Zack Furniss is going to sign this.

Getting the razor ready!

NEW METROID GAMES! Not exactly what I expected, but I'll take it! Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a four-player co-op shooter set in the Prime universe. It was shown only briefly but there is definitely a Hunters vibe.

Blast Ball is a strange th??ree-on-three competit??ive sports/shooter hybrid. Players are in mech suits than can switch to a morph ball form and need to score more goals than the other team.

Guess I gotta get ready for a haircut!
