There’s always been some debate around whether or not games are art, but in the late aughts and early �0s, some decided to really push for it. Sometimes, this resulted in kind of mostly successful experiments like Citizen Abel: Gravity Bone or Limbo, while other times we got more unfortunate, pretentious attempts like The Path.

It was a really insecure time for video games. We seemed to want some sort of permission to take this hobby seriously, so it’s like, collectively, as players and developers, we tried to prove video games were something they weren’t. Oh, they’re totally art. You can see that in games about flipping eggs and trimming hedges. But it’s more about harnessing the interactive element to get that piece of yourself across. A developer might try to capture how they think or see the world by asking you to live it. I’m not sure what The Path was supposed to say. Don’t do what you’re told?

We’ve largely moved past that, or at the very least, games that are 100% message have more of a purpose. A self-assuredness. It often feels more earnest and less pretentious. Which makes Miniatures something of a blast from the past.

Now, I’m not actually saying Miniatures is pretentious. No, I'm the pretentious one today. But, it’s at least making no mystery of the fact that it’s a digital art exhibit. What I mean is that it is only interactive-adjacent, and it is very art??. I wouldn’t even call it narratively focused because the stories are pretty abstract. You’ll either connect with them, maybe just find them amusing, or maybe you won’t.

For me, it reminds me of extremely late nights of being bored in front of Teletoon. Nights wh??en my parents we??re out, so I had free reign of the TV and could watch whatever bizarre concoction was on the station in the later hours.

Teletoon would often air things from The National Film Board of Canada, which was actually the butt of a Simpsons joke back in the day (not while they were still good). Very cultural stuff, but a lot of it was extremely strange. Sometimes, it would be something relaxingly amusing. Other times, it would be a piece of Canadiana, with the deepest of it being something from our aboriginal cultures. When you’re a pre-teen at 11 pm, it doesn’t matter what it was. Any attempt b?y an animation student to stretch their legs would hit like some sort of forbidden fever dream.

That’s what Miniatures took me back to; a decaffeinated Saturday night in my father’s La-Z-Boy. It’s four short chapters that sometimes make you poke the screen. On Switch and mobile, you can literally poke the scree??n, but here I was just poking it with my mouse pointer. Clicking, if you will.

I’m not trying to be dismissive, but the interactivity is very basic in Miniatures. One of the chapters has you trying to arrange a band of small sa??nd-critters in a little sand-critter town in an extremely roundabout way. This was by far the most amusing one for me, as you largely press on places you think something should happen and then watch while that something happens. It’s well-animated and amusing, so that’s? something.

There’s one where you pan the screen around to follow a story, and every so often, you need to click on something in the environment to uncover a trigger that allows you to move on. This one was my least favorite, not because of the lack of interactivity but because I didn’t connect with it. As far as I could see, it was a directionless story that wanted to look like it had something to?? say but didn’t say anything at all. Or maybe I just didn’t see the message.

As for the other two, I can at least understand what they’re trying to communicate, but I think a lot of Miniatures fails because it will elicit a feeling and then not do anything with it. They don't use that feeling to deliver any sort of message. These are short, short little chapters �miniature, if you will �so if they want you to just soak in the feeling, then there isn’t much time to do so. One strength in the artistic side of video games is that by having the player take part in something, you can hold their head beneath whatever you’re trying to convey, and when they're good and soaked, hit them with what you want to say. Miniatures ne??ithe?r has a point nor does it drown you for very long.

But, with those last two, I at least got the vibe they were putting down. One seemed to focus on childhood loneliness and discovery, while another gave a sense of tension and dread. I’ve found I’m typically able to pick up on subtext, even in games that aren’t taking an art-first approach, so I’m not deaf to what’s going on in Miniatures. I mostly have two problems. Number one: I don’t think it leverages the advantages of an interactive medium for conveying ideas. ??Number two: I don’t connect with the ideas that are here.

This makes it kind of hard to review a game like this because its effectiveness will vary from person to person, and I can’t speak to what you’ll feel. Maybe you’ll see yourself reflected in one or all of the games here. What I can say is that from an interactive standpoint, as well as a narrative one, I find Miniatures lacking. In comparison to other games that I would applaud for their contributions and approac??h to the art form, this wouldn’t be high on the list, but I wouldn’t throw it away wholesale, either.

Over 30 million players have pre-registered for the latest entry in the Nikki series, and the release date is finally in place. You'll be able to leap into Miraland and dress up all fancy when Infinity ?Nikk?i launches worldwide on December 5, 2024.

Following up on last month's closed beta, Infinity Nikki has its sights set on PlayStation 5, PC, and iOS and Android devices. You can see some of the colorful open world and sample pop artist Jessie J'??s theme song, "Together Til Infinity," in the release date trailer below.

Kentaro Tominaga—who previously worked on Nintendo titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, among others—is at the helm for this one. Infinity Nikki lets players explore the world of Miraland, taking on puzzles, digging up secrets, and putting on ??their fiercest dud?s for fashion contests. 

There are other characters to meet, and story quests to accept along the way. It all looks and sounds like a pretty pleasant little adventure, with more dress than stress on the menu. If you didn't get a chance to see how it plays during the recent beta, you'll be able to set out on t??his delightfully poppy adventure early next month. 

And yes, that song is going to be in my head for the rest of ?the day, too. It's definitely fitting for something that bills itself as "the coziest open-world game."

Genshin Impact 5.2 Banners

The first half of Genshin Impact Version 5.2 will feature character banners for Chasca (5-star Anemo Bow) and Lyney (5-star Pyro Bow). The weapon banners will feature C??hasca’s 5-star signature Astral Vulture's Crimson Plumage, as well as Lyney’s signature The First Great Magic.

Chasca is a 5-star Anemo Bow character who’s really neither Anemo nor a Bow user. Her attacks i?nfuse different elements based on Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teammates, so Chasca deals mixed-element “rainbow�damage instead of just Anemo. And although she equips a Bow, Chasca actually summons a giant revolver which she rides like a flying steed and fires like a shotgun. Chasca looks to be a unique on-field DPS who focuses on mixed-element damage.

Ororon is a 4-star Electro Bow character who deals off-field Electro damage using his Skill and Burst. His kit incentivizes Electro-Charged teams utilizing Electro and Hydro chara??cters. It sounds like he’ll be a possible alternative to Fischl in Electro-Charged teams that require Nightsoul mechanics.? Ororon has the ability to leap high into the air before gliding slowly to the ground, and if you enter aiming mode while in the air, Ororon can hover in place.

Genshin Impact’s Xbox release and special wings

With Version 5.2, Genshin Impact will be available to play on Xbox Series X|S. Travelers logging into Genshin Impact on Xbox will receive a new pair of green wings (Wings of Fate's Course Intertwined), as well as two Intertwined Fates and a Northlander Billet Trove. Going forward, Xbox users will receive additional exclusive goodies with? each patch, consisting of Fates/Primogems and other upgrade materials.

Users on other platforms won’t receive the Fates and other materials, but they can still get the Xbox wings! As you can see below, the throne room will be located at the very top of the castle, past the Abbadon boss fight.

Unlike how their battle played out in Rondo of Blood, Dracula X Chronicles, and Symphony of the Night, and although his location will be marked with a Skull, Dracula is not a boss here. Instea?d, upon performing a comical reenactment of their classic confrontation, the vampire will immediately join your squad and unlock the stage's true final boss, Death. After defeating Death, you will both complete the stage and become able to get 20 secret characters, including fan favorites like Isaac.

How to unlock Richter Belmont in Vampire Survivors

You can unlock Richter Belmont in Vampire Survivors by evolving the Guardian's Targe into the Sacred Beasts Tower Shield. You can perform the evolution by opening a chest while having both the weapon at max level ????and a Pummarola in your inventory.

If you have yet to unlock the Targe, you will get it? together with Maria Renard. But don't go thinking that will be easy, as you will only be able to get her after unlocking a series of 12 characters, including most of the Belmonts. To be more specific, here's a step-by-step guide on everything you will need to do to unlock both Maria and Richter:

• Open the first coffin in the Castlevania map to get Leon Belmont. Kill the Giant Medusa Head with him to unlock Trevor Belmont.
• Defeat the Doppelganger with Trevor to unlock Alucard.

But don't worry if you fail to get the item at first, as you can jump right back into Holy Forbidden from the stage selection menu until y?ou complete it.

The Premium Pass in Pokemon TCG Pocket is a handy choice for? tho??se who, like Ash, want to "Catch 'em all."

But unlike the an??ime, you'll have to shell out extra money if you want to quicken your in-game progression. To be more precise, you'll have to spend $10 eve??ry month if you're looking at getting the Premium Pass. Since Pokemon TCG Pocket is a free-to-play title, there's always a question of whether spending any real-life money is actually worth it.

So, it's clear t??hat we have to pay $9.99 per month to get the benefits of the pass. Bu??t what do we get in return?

• One extra daily pack, totaling 30 if you manage to log in once every day.
• Monthly premium missions.

If you manage to complete all the premium missions (which is pretty easy to do), you'll get a total of 11 pack Hourglasses, eight Wonder Hourglasses, and 29 Premium Tickets. For comparison, if you were to spend the same money on the "Release Celebration" sale, you'd get 72 Poke Gold. One Poke Gold will help to reduce the waiting time for a pack by two hours. Hence, you'll need six Poke Gold to grant a pack and a total of 12 packs??.

Hence, spending the same amount on the Premium Pass is a far better way to spend if you want to do so. The only benefit of getting the Poke Gold is immediate access to the extra packs. Unless you're in desperate need of new cards, the Premium Pass is perhaps the best way to spend money on Pokemon TCG Pocket.

That said, you can simply play for free, as Pokemon TCG Pocket isn'?t your typical digital TCG. While there is PvP, the game doesn't have a ranked mode. The lack of a progression system means that you can enjoy the game casually, and for that, having a meta deck isn't neces?sary.

As long as you remember to log in daily to the game and complete the missions, the Premium Pass is well worth buying inside the game. Opening 30 extra packs over a month can help build up your collection nicely and let you build more decks.

The best thing about this deck is that you can use the Monk’s deflection ability when it is near any chessboard pieces. Basically, he will def?lect all the attacks of the enemy units back to them. So let’s say four chess?board pieces are attacking Monk; in that case, there is a huge chance that he will destroy all four of them with his deflection ability.

In defense, use the Cannon Cart and Flyi?ng Machine combo to save your chessboard from any push, and keep using Firecracker as a support unit. You can also use Mirror if push comes to shove, but you better save it for spamming the spells over the opponent’s chessboard piece??s.

Anyone who is using the Hog 2.6 cycle will have a basic idea of how to use the Goblinste?i??n Hog 2.8 cycle. For offense, use the combination of Hog Rider and Ice Spirit to do a push, and make sure to use your The Log or Earthquake in case your opponent counters it with swarm troops. 

For defense, use the combination of Cannon, Firecracker, and Goblinstein to defend the enemy push. Keep using the?? Ice Spirit for defense as it freezes the enemy push for a second. Your defense will become even stronger as you move into 2x Elixir or 3x Elixir mode.

In the Goblinstein RHogs deck, you don’t have to use the Goblinstein as an all-rounder. Your sole objective in this deck is to keep pushing with the Royal Hogs. For offense, use the combination of Giant Skeleton and Royal Hogs, and since it is such a big push, the only way to minimize it is with the swarm troops. Don’t worry, you ca??n easily deal with them with Arrows.

Once you have taken the enemy’s tower, all you have to do is defend until? the time runs out. What’s even better is that you have better defensive cards in your repertoire that can help you defend against any enemy push easily.

For defense, use the combination of Bomber and Fisherman to split the enemy push. Also, on top of that, you can even use Skel?etons to distract enemies. You can use Giant Skeleton, Goblinstein, or Royal Ghost to tank the enemy push.

With Call of Duty now under the Microsoft umbrella, the big green giant had previously flexed its muscles by making Black Ops 6 available Day One on some Game Pass member??ship options. Now, the company has confirmed it'll come to ??the Cloud, too, on the same day.

In an Xbox Wire blog post, Microsoft has announced Black Ops 6, as well as Call of Duty's Battle Royale Warzone and last year's Modern Warfare 3, will be coming to Cloud Gaming on October 25.

As per the blog, on Oc?tober 25 (Black Ops 6's?? launch day), all three games will arrive on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

"We’re thrilled to reveal that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be playable with Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for Game Pass Ultimate members at launch and will begin rolling out to players on Oct?ober 25, 20??????????????????????????24, at 10:00 a.m. PT," it reads.

"In addition, we’re also bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming support to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone for Game Pass Ultimate members on the same day."

It'll be interesting to see how popular Modern Warfare?? 3 is on mobile with its successor dropping on the service the same day, but there's always room for Favela and?? Rust in our hearts.

Black Ops 6 will mark the first Day One Game Pass launch since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, with Modern Warfare 3 coming to the subsc?ription service just a few months ago.

Camellya is one of the most hyped characters upcoming in Wuthering Waves, and her arrival can get here fast enough. With her being announced as a playable character some weeks back, if you're wondering when you can actually start pulling copies of her, here's? what you need to know.

When does Camellya come out in Wuthering Waves?

While Kuro Games has not given any details as to when Camellya will officially be released, she has been announced, which does imply a release sooner than you might think if you pay attention to how the banner system works in Wuthering Waves.

When a character is considered the 'Featured Rate-up', it means they are currently on the banner and available to be pulled. Typically, banners last a few weeks a month, with two total banners taking up the duration of an entire major patch. We know for certain that Camellya will be released in Version 1.4 of Wuthering Waves. Currently, we are in Version 1.3, and the current Rate-up character is The Shorekeeper. After her banner ends, there's a high ch??ance there will be a re-run of a previously released character since no second character was announced by Kuro Games for 1.3.

In a similar vein, there has been no second character announced for Version 1.4. Only Camellya has been officially announced, which suggests that she is the first character to be a Rate-up in 1.4. If this is indeed the case (which is highly likely at this point), that means that Camellya will release following the re-run character in 1.3. In conclusion, based on these insights, Camellya is highly likely to release on November 14, which is just after the re-run character's banner ends an??d likely when Version 1.4 officially releases.

Arena Breakout has released their Season 6 update, which brings a bunch of new stuff in the game. Starting off, we get four new? weapons: MP5K, CPW, G3, and SG550, and three new medical supplies: Combat Stim, Auto-Immune Inj?ection, and Breakpoint Stim.

Amidst the Stars is a multi-part questline following the events o??f the main Black Shor?e questline in Wuthering Waves. Completing it requires you to do some searching, so here's a walkthrough on how to complete all its objectives.

How to complete Amidst the Stars in Wuthering Waves

As I just mentioned, the Amidst t??he Star quest compri?ses several individual quests of the same name. There are a total of six parts, and each one tasks with you a number of different objectives that must be completed to finish the entire questline. The first part can be started directly after you finish the main Black Shores storyline, and each part after that can be completed in any order. I recommend you do this in the given order, however, as there is no real reason not to, for clarity's sake.

Amidst the Stars - Part One

The first part of Amidst the Stars requires you to take a photo of the upper portion of the Black Shores facility, making sure that all three main buildings are in the picture. As implied, you'll need to use the Camera fu??nction and stand at a location so you can s??ee all three buildings.

Head to the TD Observatory waypoint located at the Black Shores Archipelago and look out over the shoreline. This location is probably the best? one as it is close to the quest NPC you spoke?? to, and you'll have a great view of the three buildings in question. Successfully taking the photo finishes part one of the questline.

Amidst the Stars - Part Two

The second part of Amidst the Stars has you searching for clues about a mysterious Resonator, and this particular clue is located at the Eidoscope located in Tethys' Deep, where you first found the physical body of The Shorekeeper during the main story. Head to the Deep-Error Cell Waypoint and follow the path up.

The quest will update and require you to use the Sensor to fi?nd the clue. The clue itself is located in front of The Shorekeeper's chair, where a large lamp is sitting on a n?earby table. Next to this lap is a folder of sorts, which is the clue you seek. Interacting with it will complete part two of the quest.

Amidst the Stars - Part Three

The third part of Amidst the Stars requires you to head to the entrance of the Modulation Hall located in Tethys' Deep. Specifically, you need to head to the area just before reachin??g the bridge leading to the hall itself.

Once you're there, use Sensor to locate the clue nearby. This time around, the clue is located on ?top of a small overhang, to the left of the bridge entrance. A folder, like the one in part two, will be there. Interact with it, and you'll get a brief, lore-based cutscene that plays.? Once this cutscene has ended, you'll have completed part three of the questline.

Amidst the Stars - Part Four

In the fourth part of Amidst the Stars, you need to head to the exit of the Bank of Life in Tethys' Deep. This is the same location you reached in the main story after reaching? Tethys' Deep for the first time. When you arrive, you'll encounter an ethereal version of The Shorekeeper. Interact with her and exhaust her dialogue.

After doing so, you'll be tasked with taking a photo of the Data Torrent right in? front of the platform you're on. Use the Came??ra function again and take the picture to finish this part of the questline.

Amidst the Stars - Part Five and Six

Parts five and six of the Amidst the Stars questline are simplistic since you won't be looking for clues. Instead, all you need to do is follow the markers to each location. For both, you'll be tasked with surfing around The Black Shores on Aet??herfins, which you'll be directly guided to. Aetherfin Surfing is a mini-game where you must surf through rings to maintain your balance. Failing to do so, though, will make you sta??rt over from scratch. Succeed, and you'll have completed the entire Amidst the Stars questline.

Wuthering Waves - Amidst the Stars Quest Rewards

Every part of the Amidst the Stars will reward you with 40x Asterite each. You'll also receive various other materials such as Resonance Potions and Echo experience �both valuable things to have in Wuthering Waves.

Boundary of Deduction is a quest in Wuthering Waves that involves solving a puzzle with a solution that isn't so obvious. If you're struggling to figure out what you need to do, here's how you can get?? through it.

How to finish Boundary of Deduction in Wuthering Waves

Boundary of Deduction is located within one of the side rooms in the Error Cell of Tethys' Deep. To gain access to this quest, you must first finish the main Black Shores storyline first and for??emost. Fortunately, the storyline isn't too long, ?so you can probably do so in one setting.

Once you have the Boundary of Deduction quest, you're tasked with making two ne??arly identical rooms the same by switching computers on and off. A portal in the area reveals that there are two rooms, and while both rooms appear the same (apart from the lighting) at the star??t, there is a key difference.

The computers on the table in the middle of both rooms can be toggled on and off, and you must match the red room's computers with the main room's. This is done by going up to one of the monitors present and interacting with them. This will change their state, let?ting you complete the?? questline.

Remember that the rooms are mirrors of each other and appear as such when you look through the portal on either side. I recommend looking at the door in the back of both rooms as the door makes it easy to tell which side of the room you're on w??hen turning computers on ??and off.

When you've successfully mirrored the rooms, the quest will upd??ate, and you'll need to talk to the scientist outside the red room. The door in the red room will open up, allowing you to do so.

Speak with the NPC, and t?he quest will end, rewarding you with useful Asterite for your trouble.

Genshin Impact’s current rate-up 5-star weapons are Peak Patrol Song (Sword) and Uraku Misugiri (Sword). They are accompanied by the 4-stars Mountain-Bracing Bolt (Polearm)?, Rust (Bow), Sturdy Bone (Sword), Sacrificial Greatsword (Claymore), and Favonius Codex (Catalyst). Of the 4-stars, Mountain-Bracing Bolt and Sturdy Bone are exclusive to the weapon banner and cannot be obtained via standard wishes.

There is currently no Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact.

There are two new characters coming to Genshin Impact in Version 5.2. They are the Anemo Bow user Chasca and Electro user Ororon.

How good are the current Genshin Impact banners?

Disclaimer: There is no pity for a specific 4-star character or weapon. Do not pull for a specific 4-star unless you are prepared to pull several 5-stars along the way. The weapon banner is even more punishing than the character banners. Do not pull unless you are okay with receiving at least one of each featured weapon.

How good is Xilonen?

Xilonen is a strong support who debuffs enemies and provides healing. Geo characters usually synergize poorly with other elements, but Xilonen breaks the mold by actively encouraging Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teams. With the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set, Xilonen provides additional buffs when she triggers Crystallize. Unless you play primarily Anemo, Dendro, or Geo teams, Xilonen will be a valuable pickup. Her kit functions differently depending on which elements are present in her team, though, so be sure you know how she will work in your team before you decide to pull.

How good is Chiori?

Chiori is a decently strong off-field Geo DPS unit. She hasn't had a particularly strong presence in the meta since her release, primarily beca??use Geo teams just aren't that popular. Still, even if Chiori is rarely the best option for a team, she's never the worst ?option either. If you like Chiori, be sure to play her in a Geo team where she can synergize with other characters' Geo constructs. If you don't play Geo teams, and you're not in love with Chiori, then she's an easy skip.

4-Star Characters

The featured 4-star characters are Collei, Candace, and Dori. None of them are particularly exciting. If you're thinking about pulling for Xilonen or Chiori's Constellations, you might want to hold off until they rer??un with less tragic 4-stars you'?ll actually want to play.

Of the three 4-stars, Collei is the strongest. She's a Dendro Bow user with decent (if unreliable) Dend??ro application. Every player gets Collei for free upon clearing Floor 4 of the Spiral Abyss, but her Constellations improve her ability to deal damage and apply Dendro. If you want to play Collei, I recommend getting as many Constellations for her as you can.

Candace and Dori are both niche support characters. Neither of them see much play, simply because so few characters want what they offer. Candace converts melee attacks to Hydro damage and buffs Normal Attacks. Dori heals and provides Energy generation. Most teams that can use either Candace or Do?ri will be better off replacing them with someone else. Constellation 6 Candace allows her to apply some extra Hydro, though, which can enable some unique Vaporize or Bloom teams.

5-Star Weapons

Peak Patrol Song is Xilonen's signature weapon. This 5-star Sword has a DEF% secondary stat and allows Xilonen to buff teammates even more than she already does with the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set. Peak Patrol Song is the only weapon in Genshin Impact that fully synergizes with Xilonen's ki?t. 4-star alternatives include Favonius Sword for some bonus Energy, or Flute of Ezpitzal to improve her healing.

Uraku Misugiri is Chiori's signat??ure weapon, but you can use it on DPS Xilonen or Albedo too. For the very few characters can take advantage of its passive, it's a significant DPS upgrade over their 4-star options. Even with Urak??u Misugiri, though, it's hard for me to recommend playing DPS Xilonen without at least Constellation 2.

4-Star Weapons

The 4-star weapons, in general, are quite good. Rust is useful for Normal Attackers, Favonius Codex can be a good for supports, and Sacri?ficial Greatsword has its u??ses on the likes of Chongyun. Sturdy Bone is a new banner-exclusive 4-star Sword that increases Normal Attack damage after sprinting. Mountain-Bracing Bolt is a banner-exclusive 4-star Polearm that increases Skill damage. Neither of these new weapons are game changers, but the Polearm could be an interesting option for Kachina, Emilie, or Cyno.

Genshin Impact is infamous for its incomprehensible ability descriptions, and the new character Xilonen takes this wordiness to the next level. If you d??on’t want to spend an evening reading the novel that makes up h??er kit, here’s a quick run-down on how to play Xilonen as both a support and DPS. You’re welcome.

Is Xilonen a DPS or support?

Xilonen’s kit enables her to function as either an on-field DPS or an off-field support. Despite this flexibility, Xilonen is far more effective as a support than a DPS. You can still play Xilonen as an on-field DPS, but I recommend obtaining at least Constellation 2 and a 5-star CR?IT weapon if you choose to go this r?oute. 

DPS? Xilonen uses differ??ent combos than support Xilonen. Scroll down to the relevant section based on how you want to play her.

How to play support Xilonen

As an off-field support, Xilonen requires a team with at least two characters that are Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. This? team element requirement is critical since it significantly alters how Xilonen functions. You can see whether your team qualifies by using Xilonen’s Skill and looking at the colors of the three triangles next to her Nightsoul meter. Only one triangle is allowed to be yellow. If at least two triangles are orange, blue, purple, or light blue, then your team will work with Xilonen.

Once you have your team, you need to figure out your rotation. Xilonen should take the field before your on-field DPS in order to activate her buffs. Switch to Xilonen, use her Burst, then Skill, then two Normal Attacks. After two Normal Attacks, her Nightsoul meter should fill up and disappear??. If your combo is interrupted, you may need an additional Normal Attack to fill up the meter, since it passively drains over time.

Xilonen’s Burst heals the on-field character over time, and filling up the Nightsoul meter activates her debuffs. After you’ve? finished her Normal Attacks, you can switch Xilonen for your on-field DPS, who will then deal increased damage and e?njoy some healing.

How to play DPS Xilonen

I don’t recommend building Xilonen as a DPS unless you’re either a whale or just really dedicated. Her damage isn’t amazing for a 5-star, but it’s still good enough for most content. For reference, in similar teams, my DPS C0 Xilonen with Uraku Misugiri does about 20-30% more damage than my C6 Noelle with Redhorn Stonethresher. Your r??esult??s may vary.

DPS Xilonen requires at least two Geo teammates. I ??recommend Gorou and either Albedo or Chiori. If you lack any of those, Navia, Zhongli, and Yun Jin are also p?otential options. Once you have your team set up, try using Xilonen’s Skill. At least two of the triangles next to her Nightsoul meter should be yellow.

Having two Geo teammates changes how Xilonen’s kit functions. Instead of Normal Attacks filling up her Nightsoul meter, the meter will constantly dra??in over time. Since Xilonen’s Normal Attacks deal incre??ased Geo damage while her Skill is active, they will be her main source of damage.

To play Xilonen as an on-field DPS, first rotate through your supports to set up their abilities. Then, switch to Xilonen and use her Burst, then Skill. Follow up with as many Normal Attacks as you can before her Nightsoul meter completely?? drains. This will usually be three sets of four Norm?al Attack combos, for a total of 12 hits.

Genshin Impact has never seen a character like Xilonen before. She’s a Geo character, but she can buff multiple elements and heal her teammates. With such ?strong supportive abilities, will Xilonen affect the meta, or can you afford to skip her?

Is Xilonen worth pulling in Genshin Impact?

Xilonen is shaping up to be an incredibly strong support for Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teams. Xilonen’s flexibility and ease of use in Genshin Impact teams definitely make her worth your pulls. Even at Constellation 0 with 4-star weapons (Favonius Sword or Flute of Ezpitzal), she can ena?ble your team to hit for bigger numbers while simultaneously keeping them alive.

Xilonen’s role in teams is similar to that of Kazuha, an Anemo unit who provides similar elemental buffs and debuffs. Xilonen can’t replace Kazuha’s crowd-control and sustained elemental application, but she can provide healing instead. If you’re looking for a ?buffer for your elemental teams, Xilonen is a good option and an alternative ??to Kazuha.

Outside of meta reasons, Xilonen is just nice to have for exploration. She skates faster than Kachina’s Turbo Twirly and saves stamina when climbing cliffs. She also generates some Phlogiston?? when other characters trigger their Nightsoul Transmission traversal abilities. There’s also the sheer cool factor of a DJ cat woman on rollerblade?s who can transform into a glittery ocelot. Her trailer theme is an absolute banger, too, if you haven’t checked it out already.

Are Xilonen’s Constellations worth it?

Xilonen is already strong at C0, but her Constellations further improve her abilities to various degrees. You don’t need Cons?tellations for Xilonen to perform well against most enemies. I only recommend pulling for Constellations if you’re not saving up for future characters and/or you have the disposable income for extra wishes.

It’s not worth pulling for Xilonen’s first Constellation on its own. It improves her exploration perk?s by allowing her to skate for longer. Constellation 1 can mostly be considered a stepping stone on the way to Constellation 2.

If you do choose to pull for Constellations, Constellation 2 is my recommended stopping point for Xilonen. Constellation 2 improves Xilonen’s buffs based on the elements present in her team. It also allows her to support Geo DPS teams. If you want to pl??ay Xilonen specifically with Itto, Noelle, Albedo, or Chiori, Constellation 2 is a must-have.

Constellations 3 through 5 improve Xilonen’s supportive capabilities, but to a lesser degree. Constellation 6 allows Xilonen to become an on-field DPS. These higher Con??stellations exist for whales who want to hyper-invest into their Xilonen. 

Is Xilonen’s signature weapon worth it?

Xilonen’s signature 5-star Sword is the Peak Patrol Song. It has a DEF% secondary stat with a passive that buffs your team’s elemental damage based on the equipping character’s DEF. In short, it improves Xilonen’s buffing abilities, making it Xilonen’s best weapon overall. Peak Patrol Song is worth it if you want a weapon that synergizes well with Xilonen’s kit.

Xilonen has perfectly usable 4-star options. Favonius Sword takes care of her Energy Recharge needs while providing more energy for the entire team. Flute of Ezpitzal can be crafted using billets and improves Xilonen’s healing. There aren’t any 4-star weapons that directly improve Xilonen’s unique kit, though. If you want a weapon that actually feels like it belongs on Xil??onen, you’ll need Peak Patrol Song.

Don't worry too much about how your weapon looks on Xilonen. During normal team rotations, you won't actually see her weapon. Xilonen prefers ?to kick enemies with her rollerblades instead.

Should you pull for Xilonen’s C2 or her signature weapon?

Maybe you have the extra wishes for either Constellation 2 or Peak Patrol Song, but not both. Which one is better for yo??ur Xilonen?

For most teams, Xilonen’s Constellation 2 is better than R1 Peak Patrol Song. However, with the recent changes to Genshin Impact’s weapon banner, Constellation 2 can be about twice as expensive as a 5-star weapon. If you’d rather save some pulls for future Natlan characters like Chasca or Mavuika, Pe??ak Patrol? Song is the cheaper option. You can always obtain C2 Xilonen when she reruns.

If you plan to play Xilonen primarily with an Electro DPS, keep in mind that her C2 bonus for Electro is finicky. 25 energy is nice, for sure �and it affects the whole team, not just your Electro characters. But you won’t be able to take advantage of the e??xtra energy or the 6s Burst cooldown reduction unless you specifically build your team for it.
