This year, two shōnen action series of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine reached their long-awaited conclusions: Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia and Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen.

These were, without a doubt, two of the biggest titans of its genre and demographic, and their absence will certainly leave a huge empty hole in the entire anime and manga industry. However, their respective fan bases reacted to each ending with a lot of controversy and mixed opinions.

As someone who has been reading weekly chapters of both My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen for several years, witnessing these series flesh out their stories unt?il the very end has been mind-blowing. While their finales had a lot of issues, one of them excelled, whereas the other failed, and vice versa. So the only remaining question is: Which one of them had the strongest ending?

A brief recap of the two divisive final chapters

A panel from the final chapter of My Hero Academia and a panel from the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen.

To recap: In the final chapter of My Hero Academia, we see series' protagonist Izuku Midoriya after eight years have passed since the final battle. He is now Quirkless because he transferred One For All to Tomura Shigaraki, but he became a renowned hero for not only having defeated All For One and Shigaraki but also for inspiring the Hero Society of Japan to improve and be more prone to saving innocent people. While Deku laments that his friends are still active heroes, he still enjoys his job as a teacher at U.A. High School and realizes that he has made an important impact on other people. However, at the very last minute, All Might gives him a special arm??ored suit that lets him become a hero once again.

On the other hand, Jujutsu Kaisen's ending is much more simple. After the deadly battle with Ryomen Sukuna, Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki go back to their usual lives and stop?? a corrupt sorcerer who was stalking a woman during one of their missions. However, after they detain the enemy, Itadori assures him that he won't be executed, echoing the late Satoru Gojo's dream of inspiring a new generation of sorcerers to be kinder and more empathetic. After a brief interaction between Sukuna and Mahito in the afterlife, we see the final finger of?? Sukuna resting while hidden away, as it no longer has a curse sealed within it.

Despite their flaws, both endings did many things right

All For One and Ryomen Sukuna.

There's no denying that both My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen had exciting final battles that not only made their respective antagonists seem intimidating and dangerous but also made good use of almost every relevant character who had appeared throughout the series. Both Horikoshi and Akutami's illustrations were incredibly detailed during these final confrontations, and they will definitely look amazing whenever they g??et animated by their respective studios.

My Hero Academia did a solid job at closing off almost every single plot beat that it established throughout the series, and most of the characters had satisfying conclusions: From the inspiring and heroic main characters, like Deku himself, Bakugo, Todoroki or Uraraka, to the tragic villains, like Shigaraki, Spinner, Toga or Dabi. Even minor characters like Gentle and La Brava got end?earing conclusions to their?? stories. The time skip during the final chapter was certainly a bold move, but getting to see grown-up versions of Deku and his friends finally become famous Pro Heroes was as satisfying as it was emotional.

The ending of Jujutsu Kaisen was much simpler, as it instead focused on showing how the main three characters were able to n??ot only return to their regular lives but also how their experiences during the Culling Game Arc and the Shinjuku Showdown Arc affected them, especially considering that Nobara Kugisaki was absent from the story for a very long time. Akutami also took his time to explain a few loose ends from the final battle and briefly showed what was going on with other characters like Yuta Okkots?u or Kinji Hakari.

However, My Hero Academia failed in some important areas...

All Might in the final chapter of MHA.

Despite all their positives, both My Hero Academia's and Jujutsu Kaisen's endings left much to be desired. Even though My Hero Academia managed to close off the stories of most of its important characters, it still left a lot of open plot threads that could have easily been resolved before the finale: What happened to Re-Destro? Is the Quirk Singularity Theory ever going to become a reality? Di??d Uraraka and Deku get together during the timeskip?

The idea of the eight-year time skip was quite brilliant, but it could have been executed better. Many fans felt it was disappointing that Deku became a teacher and couldn't fulfil his dream of becoming t?he?? #1 Pro Hero, something that the series had established since the very first chapter. Other fans would have also preferred a Naruto/Boruto approach, where they could have seen which members of Class 1-A got together and had children. Lastly, while many fans understand that Deku giving up his powers for the sake of Hero Society fits perfectly within the themes of the entire series, they also criticized the fact that he received a special suit at the very last minute because it ul??timately undermin??es his difficult decision.

And Jujutsu Kaisen's conclusion felt rushed...

The final finger of Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a much different story, though, since fans were already having issues with its final story arcs before Shueisha even announced its finale. Most of them criticized the manga for some of its odd writing choices, like the omission of classic characters like Toge Inumaki or Nobara Kugisaki and the abrupt death of popular character Satoru Gojo at the hands of Ryomen Sukuna. After the critically acclaimed Shibuya Incident Arc, Jujutsu Kaisen went in an entirely different direction that a huge part of the fan base didn't enjoy. It also le?ft many unanswered questions that left most fans frustrate?d: What happened during the Heian Era? What did they do with the bodies of Geto and Gojo? Why did Uraume follow Sukuna with so much loyalty??

But the main criticism regarding the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen is related to its abrupt nature. While Akutami had revealed that he intended to end the manga in the near future, many fans believed he could have kept it going for a few more months. The final battle against Ryomen Sukuna felt too drawn out, and by the time the good guys finally came out victorious, the series c?ame to a close before getting the opportunity to properly show how this conflict changed the world and its main players. Personally, the final chapter feels more like the ending of a major story arc instead of feeling like the ending of a manga series that had been in serialization for more than six years.

At the end of the day, it's all about timing

Color Spreads for the endings of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen.

When Shueisha announced that My Hero Academia was going to end in 5 chapters, the final battle was already over, and the final Epilogue Arc had already begun. So Horikoshi cleverly used these final five chapters to close off most of the big plot threads that still remained open. By the time My Hero Academia ended, Horikoshi had made 430 chapters in total over the course?? of 10 years. This was quite ??a lot of time for him to flesh out his world and characters. Although to be fair, some fans argue that this extensive duration made the lack of answers in some areas all the more disappointing.

On the other hand, Shueisha announced that Jujutsu Kaisen only had 5 chapters left right in the middle of Itadori's final clash against Sukuna, which immediately made fans worry and question if Akutami was going to have enough time to write proper conclusions for every single one of his characters. While he did get the chance to answer many remaining questions, the eventual conclusion of the story felt uneventful and mundane. Jujutsu Kaisen ended at 271 chapters, which is a lot less than My Hero Academia in length. Of course, not all shōnen manga series have to be equally extensive, but Jujutsu Kaisen felt as big and ambitious as some of its contemporaries. Unfortunately, it compromised this ambition by telling its story in half of the ??time and with fewer chapters.

So, which ending is better? My Hero Academia? Or Jujutsu Kaisen?

Cover of Weekly Shonen Jump 35 and Cover of Weekly Shonen Jump 39.

While I certainly appreciate that Jujutsu Kaisen took a lot fewer risks and gave us a more concise and predictable ending, it just can't beat the finale of My Hero Academia for me. It is not without its flaws, but both the Final War Arc and the Epilogue Arc did a way better job at using all the relevant players of the series and closing off almost every single big plot thread than any of Jujutsu Kaisen's final arcs.

While it's perfectly understandable why some fans may find Deku's final fate to be disappointing, it fits perfectly with the themes of the series that were proposed from the very beginning, and the final panel with him in his iron suit was a little treat for those who still wanted to see him and all of his friends working as Pro Heroes. When compared to the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen, it certainly left more fans satisfied. My Hero Academia just had the more fulfilling ending of the two, ????even if it was far from perfect.

Nevertheless, regardless of which series had the superior conclusion, there's no denying that both My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen changed the world of anime and manga forever, and fans of the genre will miss them. It's important to point o?ut that Horikoshi and Akutami's unfortunate health issues indirect??????????????????????????ly caused some of the flaws in their series' endings, so fans of both are hoping that they will now get a chance to properly rest for a few years. At the end of the day, these two talented authors expressed their desire to keep working in the manga industry, so hopefully, we'll get to see more amazing stories from them in the near future.

The thrilling season finale of My Hero Academia Season 7 ??is going live this Saturday, but fans don't have to worry about the potential lack of episodes, because Bon??es and Shueisha already confirmed that Season 8 is coming very soon.

This announcement was made in this week's issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump (and was later reported by Shōnen Jump News on Twitter/X). But the most noteworthy part is that Season 8 will be the final season of the My Hero Academia anime, which shouldn't be a surprise considering that the original manga by Kohei Horikoshi recently reached its conclusion as well.

This week's ep?isode of the anime is seemingly going to adapt content from chapter 395 up to chapter 398, meaning that Season 8 will have to cover around 31 chapters from the original manga, including the climactic final battle and the controversial finale of the entire series. This is far less than what other seasons previously adapted, which ultimately means that the final one will most likely be around 10 or 12 episodes in total, instead of the usual 25 (A?lthough season 1 was the only exception to this rule).

At the end of the day, it's quite mind-blowing to think that My Hero Academia, a huge and influential action shōnen anime that has consistently been on air since 2016 is finally going to end in 2025. It will certainly leave an empty space in the anime industry, similarly to how the conclusion of the original manga was a huge occasion for its ??respective industry.

Why are My Hero Academia fans so happy with this decision?

Fans reacted to the announcement of My Hero Academia's final season with a lot of excitement and celebration, and it's not only because of the idea that they will get to see the finale of their beloved series in animated form. In reality, most fans feel relieved by the confirmation that Bones is going to adapt the ending of the series into a full anime season, instead of relegating it to a canonical movie.

In recent years, the anime industry has been going through a peculiar trend of adapting important canonical story arcs into feature films. While these types of adaptations can certainly see a rise in budget and in animation quality, they also take a lot of time to produce, not to mention that it forces the studio to adapt an extensive arc into a fe??w hours of content, which sometimes isn't enough t??o properly convey a story.

Because of this, movie adaptations of canonical arcs have been a divisive endeavor among fans, as this has recently happened with the final arc of Demon Slayer and the Bomb Girl arc of Chainsaw Man. Fortunately for My Hero Academia fans, they won't fall victim to the glar??ing issues of this trend, and they will be able to witness the finale ??of their favorite series next year.

Overwatch 2 is no stranger to collaborations with some of the most popular anime franchises, including One-Punch Man and Cowboy Bebop. Now, a new crossover is getting fans hyped up, as the game is getting a brand new collab with My Hero Academia

The official Overwatch Twitter account recently debuted a teaser for the upcoming event, with a ??video showing off many new skins based on some of the most popular characters from the manga. Kicking off on October 17 and concluding on October 30, players will be treated to these skins for a limited time.

//twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/1839334388183584855

My Hero Academia is coming to Overwatch 2 in October

The teaser features five of the playable heroes in skins of some of the most recognizable cha?racters in the ani??me, including:

  • Tracer as Midoriya Izuku
  • Juno as Uraraka Ochako
  • Kiriko as Himiko Toga
  • Reaper as Tomura Shigaraki
  • Reinhardt as All Might

These skins will be available through the shop during the collaboration period, similar to how previous crossovers have worked in the game. It’s not yet known how much each skin will cost, but as confirmed in the official post by Blizzard, you will be able to buy each legen??dary skin individually or as a set, the Overwatch 2 x My Hero Academia Mega Bundle. This bundle will? include additional cosmetics, as well.

If you don’t want to spend any money but still get in on the fun, you can earn five sprays and a charm through regular gameplay. We don’t know the exact requirements for unlocking these yet. However, we do know you won’t need to purchase anything, ?which is always a win.

My Hero Academia officially concluded its manga with Chapter 430 in early August. While the anime hasn’t officially concluded yet, there isn’t any info about a Season 8, so this has left fans with a big void to fill. The collaboration with Overwatch 2 might be able to fill some of it.

Overwatch 2, on the other hand, is still going strong, currently running Season 12 with a World of Warcraft theme. The collaboration will coincide with the release of Season 13, which will run? the entire duration of the collab and likely beyond. While we don’t know much about Season 13 yet, the MHA collaborat?ion is a great piece of news for anime fans and cosmetics completionists.

Overwatch 2 has plenty of great skins on its own, but it’s always great to see the game working with other iconic franchise??s to cre?ate some truly impressive cosmetics.

One of the flagships for the Shonen demographic for more than 10 years, Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia is also responsible for introducing a whole new generati??on to the world of manga.

But now that the series has reached its conclusion, many are left wondering what to read next. After all, is any other title capable of bringing forward the same feel as MHA? Here are the 10 best ongoing manga for those looking to fill the My Hero Academia void.

10. Gokurakugai

Image via VIZ Media

  • By: Yuto Sano
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Monthly

Set in a world where humans, beasts, and the supernatural go hand in hand, Gokurakugai follows Tao and Alma —the sole members of the Gokurakugai Troubleshooter Agen??cy?as they take on odd jobs and wo??rk to eradicate the threat posed by the magas.

Pairing what I believe to be the most stylish character designs since Tite Kubo's Bleach (as you can see by the image above), a solid narrative, and some of the most impressive visuals and creative paneling within its demographic, Gokurakugai is an easy pick for all looking to be impressed.

9. Make the Exorcist Fall in Love

Image via VIZ Media

  • By: Aruma Arima (Story) / Masuku Fukayama (Art)
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

Although a title that —like Chainsaw Man?treads the utmost limit of its demographic by touching sensitive topics and showcasing a high level of gore, Make the Exorcist Fall in Love brings forward a great mix of action and r??omance. In it, we follow the story of the world's greatest exorcist, who is ordered to protect a famous artist targeted by Satan. Little does he know, however, that the one he must protect is an envoy of the demon lord. Her mission? Well, the title says it all.

8. SPY x FAMILY

Image via VIZ Media

  • By: Tatsuya Endo
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

The manga that started the global phenomenon, Spy x Family follo?ws the story of Twilight, a secret agent tasked with forming a fake family as part of an infiltration mission that could change the world's fate. But his mission won't be easy, as both his daughter and wife also have secrets of their own.

Featuring way more similarities to a slice-of-life manga than an action-oriented one, Spy X Family can be seen as the ideal p?ick for those looking for a cozy title that can still shake you to the core when the time is?? right. On another note, the series' slow pacing might make it a frustrating read for some after a while.

7. Chainsaw Man

Image via Shueisha

  • By: Tatsuki Fujimoto
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

One of the most talked about manga in recent years, Chainsaw Man tells the story of Denji, an orphan whose life is ripped apart after a tragedy sees him become one with the Cha??insaw Devil.

Considered by many as Tatsuki Fujimoto's magnum opus (which says a lot given how well-received Fire Punch and hi??s one-shots are), the manga pairs his unpredictable and unapologetic narrative style with merciless fighting sequences. That combination results in some of the most ruthless and out-of-pocket moments within the demographic, many of whic?h will stay with you whether you like it or not.

6. One-Punch Man

Image via VIZ Media

  • By: One (Story) / Yusuke Murata (Art)
  • Demographic: Seinen
  • Release schedule: Bi-weekly (Irregularly released)

A safe bet for all looking to dive into the hero world once again, One-Punch Man adapts the webtoon of the same name and follows the story of Saitama, a hero capable of defeating any threat with a single pu??nch.

Al?though its premise might make any conflict seem pointless, the series makes it work by relying on a strong cast of supporting characters to build momentum. Yusuke Murata's artwork is also a huge draw here, as the artist manages to showcase movement in a way I don't believe any other in the market can.

5. Jujutsu Kaisen

Image via Shueisha

  • By: Gege Akutami
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

To open our top five, we have Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen, which tells the story of Itadori Yuji, a student whose life changes after being tangled with that of the King of Curs?es, Ryo?men Sukuna.

Already dashing toward its conclusion, JJK still stands strong as one of the pillars of the battle shonen sub-genre, given its strong cast of characters and tendency to throw curved balls at readers, for better or worse. Akutami's creativity when the subject is special abilities also deserves a mention. You can learn more about them in our 10 strongest Cursed Techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen list.

4. Dandadan

Image via Shueisha

  • By: Yukinobu Tatsu
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

Following the story of high school students Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, as they get dragged into all matters of the paranormal, Dandadan can be described as what happens when you pair some of the most out-there premises imagin?able with great bits of action and?? an engaging romance story.

But that's only the tip of the iceberg, as even if not perfect, the series also showcases a poignant narrative that does not pull any punches and knows when to slow down, the latter of which results in unique and beautiful moments. Dandadan's great mix of fantasy, terror, and sci-fi also helps it set itself apart as one of the m??ost uniq?ue shonen in the market.

3. Sakamoto Days

Image via Shueisha

  • By: Yuto Suzuki
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

In Sakamoto Days,?? we follow the story of legendary? assassin Taro Sakamoto, who, after leaving the hitmen world behind and raising a family, is pulled back in the most unexpected ways.

The series shines by pairing lighthearted comedy with high-quality storytelling and a good balance of over-the-top action, the latter of which is potentialized even further by its great fighting choreography and the way Suzuki manages to make readers stay grounded even when fa??ced with the most absurd situations.

2. Kagurabachi

Image via Shueisha

  • By: Takeru Hokazono
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

Maybe the biggest representative of the new era of shonen, Kagurabachi tells the tale of Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a legendary swordsmith who embarks on a tale of revenge after his father is murdered and his six enchanted blad??es stolen.

Known for its impressive art style and paneling, Kagurabachi's biggest draw lies in its narrative approach, which always manages to keep its momentum going, even when in chapters where the action must take the backseat. That makes the series a great pick for those looking for a story that, although fast-paced, doe??s not neglect character development. As an arguably new serialization, the title is also the easiest among the manga in our list to catch up to.

1. One Piece

One Piece, one of the best manga for those looking to fill the My Hero Academia void.
Image via Viz Media

  • By: Eichiro Oda
  • Demographic: Shonen
  • Release schedule: Weekly

The best-selling manga series of all time and my personal favorite, One Piece follows the Straw Hat Pirates in their quest to ??fulfill their dreams and find the legendary treasure of the former King of Pirates.

As the definitive shonen, One Piece brings forward all you can expect through action-packed battles and a narrative capable of building up to moments like no other. The title also manages to avoid one of My Hero Academia's weakest points by excelling in connecting readers with most of its characters, no matter how minor they might be, all while never? taking the spotlight out of?? the bigger names.

The widely beloved manga series My Hero Academia has come to a close with the release of its final chapter, Chapter 430. This milestone marks the end of a decade-long journey that began on July 7, 2014, when the first chapter was published in Weekly Shonen Jump. The ending, however, didn't come as a surprise as it was already announced months before. Nonetheless, knowing that the finale was coming di??d??n't make it less emotional.

During its ten-year tenure, My Hero Academia has expanded into a major franchise, including an anime adaptation, movies, spin-offs, and a vast array of merchandise. In addition to its commercial success, My Hero Academia has also received critical acclaim for its storytelling and impact on the in??dustry.

Veteran authors have paid their tribute to the series. One Piece's Eiichiro Oda redrew the fanart Horikoshi submitted 22 years ago and used it as Chapter 1122's cover art. Similarly, Jujutsu Kaisen's Gege Akutami reportedly commented that the hit sorcerer series would not have started if not for My Hero Academia.

Created by Kohei Horikoshi, My Hero Academia quickly gained a massive following for its unique take on the superhero genre, featuring a world where nearly everyone possesses superpowers known as "Quirk??s." The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a Quirkless boy who gets a chance to fulfill his dream of becoming the greatest hero after receiving One For All.

The f??inale sees Deku return to his Quirkless self after losing his Quirks during his final battle with Tomura Shigaraki. Even so, he continues to serve society as a teacher at U.A. High School. However, his stint as a hero is still far from over. With the help of technology, Midoriya once again joins his former classmates in their bid to stop the villains from doing evi??l.

Fans can read the final chapter for free via VIZ or MANGA Plus.

My Hero Academia (MHA) is undoubtedly one of the most popular anime on the planet, and its universe has been expanded further with movies that are canon to the show. However, it can be quite confusing for newcomers to understand where exactly to begin. My Hero Academia release order is substantially different from how one would should begin watching the show if they are looking to watch t?he story unfold chronologically.

Currently, there are seven My Hero Academia seasons for the main anime series. So far, there are three canon movies released for My Hero Academia, with a fourth movie set to release ?in August 2024 in Japan, and arriving in October 2024 in the US.

After nearly ten years of captivating readers with its unique take on superheroes, Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia is officially ??coming t?o an end. The beloved manga, which has been a staple in Shonen Jump since its debut in 2014, will conclude its story in just five chapters.

This announcement comes directly from the manga's official X account. The final chapter is scheduled to be released in Weekly Shonen Jump's combined 36th an?d 37th issues, which will come out on August 5.

//twitter.com/myheroacademia/status/1805197100290031776?s=46&t=y8yQfT25NG4CcWGYgc7vBg

The announcement also comes with a heartfelt letter from Horikoshi to his fans. As translated by Animehunch, his message is as follows.

Sorry for the two-week break! My schedule got all piled up like a mille-feuille! There are just 5 chapters left until the end. Some? might think, “There’s still 5 chapters left?!??while others might think, “Only 5 chapters left?!?but I’ll do my best to make sure both sides enjoy the last 5 chapters! Together with Deku and the others!

It was a bumpy road, but I was able to draw Deku and his friends for nearly 10 years thanks to everyone who kept reading. It was like a dream. Th??ank you so much! Well then! Let’s meet again in Jump!

My Hero Academia is currently on a two-week hiatus, with the next chapter set to return on July 1. Despite the hiatus, however, readers aren't left with a heavy cliffhanger. The manga concluded its final arc a few weeks ?back and already started its epilogue. The remaining f?ive chapters will likely continue showcasing the ugly aftermath of war and how the heroes adapt to it.

Those who want to catch up on the series can read it through VIZ or Manga Plus.

Season 7 of My Hero Academia is alr??eady in full swing, and it's doing a good job portraying the series' final saga. It not on??ly gives the spotlight to the main cast but also to the side characters. It highlights the importance of teamwork, especially the vital roles that the supporting characters play

As a matter of fact, Neito Monoma absolutely ?dominated the entirety of episode 6. He played the vital role of copying Kurogiri's Quirk to bring the heroes together, a la Doctor Strange, and then used the very same Quirk to separate the League's main members. After that, he copied Eraser Head's Erasure Quirk to debuff Shigaraki, giving those facing the villain a fighting chance. So, how exactly does this Copy Quirk of his work?

As its name suggests, Monoma's Copy Quirk lets him duplicate another character's Quirk and use them as he sees ??fit. The only prerequisite is for Monoma to come into physical contact with his target. He can hold up to four Quirks, though each Quirk can only be used for ten minutes maximum. When the timer runs out, Monoma must touch the original user for another round of use. This is the reason why Aizawa remained in contact with Monoma as the? latter constantly kept Erasure activated.

Similar to the other Quirks in My Hero Academia, the Copy Quirk is not all-powerful. Monoma can only use one Copied Quirk at a time. He also cannot copy Quirks that require stored resources like Fat Gum's Fat Absorption or Eri's Rewind. Furthermore, his Quirk?? is limited by his body. If his body cannot sustain the copied Quirk's drawbacks, then he can sustain damage or even perish from its usage.

Becoming strong in My Hero Academia is more than just being blessed with a powerful Quirk. Having mastery over said Quirk is far more important, and Mirio Togata is a prime example of that. After all, the dude started as a wi?mp whose Quirk is more of a liability than a curse. But through sheer grit and effort, he ultimately became U.A.'s top student.

While all that talk is inspiring and cheesy, it also doesn't change the fact that a powerful Quirk is, well, powerful. Mastery is indeed important as most Quirks have drawbacks, but a mediocre Quirk can only bring you to a certain height. And in my opinion, here are the ten strongest Q??uirks.

Eraser Head in My Hero Academia
Image via Crunchyroll

10. Erasure

The world of My Hero Academia is run by people with overpowered abilities. It even reaches the point wherein a Quirk can determine a person's social status, with the Quirkless at the bottom of the pyramid. But no m??atter how powerful a Quirk is, Erasure can counter it.

Erasure cancels other people's Quirk factors as long as the u?ser lays their eyes on the target. It doesn't even have to be the entire person. It can simply be a body part. However, Erasure has one major drawback. Its effect instantly disappears the moment the target gets out of the user's field of view or the user blinks.

9. Black Hole

Utilized by the hero Anan Kurose, Black Hole lets its user generate black holes through their fingers. The suction force is strong enough to disintegra?te anything at the atomic level, including light. However, using Black Hole requires a lot of caution.

Black Hole may be extremely powerful, but it is ?also volatile and dangerous. It sucks anything and everything, including the user and their allies. While it can be deactivated at a moment's notice, doing so leaves the u?ser vulnerable to counterattacks.

8. Double

Double grants its use??r the ability to create replicas. The catch, however, is that the user must possess an impeccable understanding of the target, down to their physical features and measurements. Otherwise, the resulting ??double will be weak and fragile.

The? created copies are not invulnerable. They will turn to sludge after receiving sufficient damage. The user can also only create two doubles at a time, but there is a catch. Since Double copies both the target's appearance and abilities, the created doubles als??o possess Double. Should the generated clones spam Double, the user can theoretically create a never-ending army of themselves.

7. Half-Cold Half-Hot

Endeavo?r's Hellflame allows him to fight even the mightiest of villains, and Sh??oto's Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk is something like that but better. Half-Cold Half-Hot gives Shoto the ability to generate both fire and frost. While it doesn't let him control external fire and frost, what he can generate is more than sufficient to defeat villains.

Half-Cold Half-Hot also eliminates the Hellflame's drawback ?overheatin??g. By using his cold half, Shoto can regulate his temperature to avoid reachi??ng dangerous temperatures. Similarly, he can heat himself to prevent hypothermia.

Eri in My Hero Academia
Image via TOHO animation YouTube

6. Rewind

As its name suggests, Rewinds is a Quirk that turns back time. However, it only works on living ??beings. Those affected by Rewind will find their bodies being reverted to their previous states, including the point before they?? came into being.

The only reason Rewind's full potential isn't shown in the anime is Eri's inexperience. Eri is still too young to grasp and control the full capacity of her Quirk. And since Rewind only works on living beings, practicing it requires a lot of caution. But should Eri master Rewind to its fullest, she can easily become the strongest healer and fighter in My Hero Academia.

Kai Chisaki using Overhaul in My Hero Academia
Image via TOHO animation YouTube

5. Overhaul

Overhaul is, without a dou??bt, one of the most destructive Quirk in the entire series. Using Overhaul lets the user destroy and restructure their targets, and it applies to both organic and inorganic matter. The user can also opt not to restructure the target, leaving them obliterated. Should the user choose to do some reconstruction, they can revert the target to its original form or turn it into something new altogether.

Overhaul's only weakness is? its activation requirement. The user needs to be in contact with the target through their hand. It can be just the tip of a finger, but it has to be the hand. The moment the user's hands are incapacitated, Overhaul is no longer a threat.

Image via Crunchyroll

4. Decay

Decay is quite similar to Overhaul. It can obliterate anything with the slightest touch. But unlike Overhaul, Decay does not give the option?? to reconstruct. What's already turned into du??st remains as such.

After its evolution, it far surpassed Overhaul in destructiveness. Decay's effects spread beyond what t??he user touched, creating a wave of destruction. Similar to Overhaul, however, Decay's activation reli?es on the user's fingers. Incapacitating them also incapacitates the user.

Image via Shueisha

3. New Order

Cathleen Bate's New Order?? created a buzz with her superb use of it. The Quirk allows Cathleen to manipulate her environment by setting new rules on them, even to a miraculous degree. For instance, she turned light tangible and altered the very nature of her Quirk.

However, New Order has a lot of limitati?ons. The power it grants has limits, and the user can only set two rul?es at once. Most of all, the user must have the same understanding as the target in terms of the target's identity. Otherwise, the Quirk won't activate.

Image via Crunchyroll

2. One For All

One For All has been heralded as the heroes' strongest weapon against the series' main villain, All For One. And for good reason. It was, after all, th??e Quirk the No. 1 Hero possessed.

One For All is a tran?sferrable Quirk, allowing the old user to transfer their Quirk ?in addition to One For All ?to the new one. Even without the extra Quirks, One For All's physical boosts still make it a top-tier Quirk. As shown by All Might at his peak, utilizing One For All's full power can easily decimate its surroundings.

Image via Crunchyroll

1. All For One

All For One is undeniably the vilest and strongest villain in My Hero Academia, and it's all because of his Quirk. All For One lets its user steal and bestow Quirks. He can store the Quirks inside him and use them as he sees fit??.

The only probable weakness of All For One is the possibility of overloading the user. Should the point wherein the stolen Quirks surpass what the user's body can handle, then the Quirks will start to affect the user's body. But given the long list of All For One's stolen Quirks without any negative effect, this can't even be co??nside??red a weakness.

My Hero Academia's pitch is quite simple. It tells the story of a young powerless boy who aspires to be a superhero. Despite the numerous twis?ts and turns, the series remains loyal to that idea. Izuku Midoriya's hero journey started when All Might chose him to inherit One For All ?the very same Quirk that allowed a Quirkless All Might to ??become the symbol of justice.

Initially, One For All is thought to only grant immense strength. As such, the user's body must be strong enough to endure the strain of releasing that much explosive power. But as the story progressed, the mysteries involving One For All slowly unraveled. It turned out that One For All not ??only passes superstrength from one user to another but also the Quirks the previous users wielded.

Image via Crunchyroll

What Quirks does Deku have?

Being the ninth user of One For All, Midoriya, also known by his hero alias Deku, inherited the Quirks of the previous eight users. Given that both he and All Might were Quirkless before inheriting One For All, Midoriya only has seven Quirks in possession. The Quirks he has are One For All, Gearshift, Fa Jin, Danger Sense, Blackwhip, Smokescreen, and Float.

One For All, obviously, has a complex history. It all started with All For One handing a stockpiling Quirk to his supposed Quirkless younger brother, Yoichi Shiga??raki. That same stockpiling Quirk c??an also exponentially boost the user's physical abilities, from strength to endurance. But unbeknownst to everyone at the time, Yoichi wasn't actually Quirkless. He did possess a Quirk that allowed him to pass it from one user to another. This Quirk merged with the stockpiling Quirk, ultimately giving rise to One For All.

Kudo, th??e second wielder of One For All, has a Quirk called G??????????????????????????earshift. As its name suggests, it allows the user to change the speed and/or velocity of its target. The user can use it on themselves or anything they touch. Fa Jin, the third user Bruce's Quirk, also works in a simple manner. Fa Jin lets its user store kinetic energy, which can be released at the user's convenience.

Danger Sense is perhaps Midoriya's most-used Quirk. He may have discovered it later that One For All, but he k?ept the fourth user's Quirk active at all times, especially during his stint as a dark hero. After all, Danger Sense can detect any threat within the user's vicinity. For Midoriya, the warning comes via a stabbing sensation at the back of his head.

Blackwhip, the fifth user Daigoro Banjo's Quirk, generates black tendrils that the users can manipulate as extensions of themselves. It'??s the perfect Quirk to grab faraway objects ala Spiderman. It's also the first Quirk that manifested other than One For All's usual physical enhancements.

The sixth user's Quirk, Smokescreen, grants Midoriya the power to emit purple smoke, which he utilizes to obscure his opponents' vision. The final ??Quirk, Float, is as simple as it comes. It gives the user the ability to remain in mid-air. Using Flo?at jointly with the other Quirks ultimately allows Midoriya to fly.

In a last-ditch attempt to save Tomura Shigaraki from All For One's control, Izuku Midoriya launches one final attack. Here is everything you need to know about the MHA Chapter 424 release date, time, and predictions.

My Hero Academia Chapter 424 release date and time, explained

Image via Bones Studio

After My Hero Academia went on break in celebration of a national holiday, the manga is back on a weekly schedule. MHA Chapter 424 will be released on Sunday, June 2.

Fans can check out Chapter 424 at approximately 11 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. PDT), which is closely aligned with the midnight release in Japan. If fans stay off social ??media, they should have no issues avo?iding spoilers.

Where to read My Hero Academia Chapter 424

After the new chapter officially goes live, My Hero Academia fans can read the latest chapter on Viz Media and MangaPlus. Both websites will have the chapter available in English. It all comes down to personal pr??eference for which service? you prefer.

What to expect from My Hero Academia  Chapter 424

If you still need to catch up, we recommend reading Chapter 423 before going further. Even if there aren’t any officially confirmed spoilers for the upcoming chapter, it’s ?not hard to tell where this story is heading.

Like other shonen manga, fans probably expected a happy ending to My Hero Academia's final arc. However, that? might be the case after Chapter 423, which ended with Tomura Shigaraki possibly dying. As we learned from other manga, you can't assume a character is dead without seeing a body. However, based on Shigarak??i telling Midoriya to give Spinner one final message before disappearing after a final punch, it appears that he might be gone forever. In the end, Shigaraki was able to steal back his body from All For One and possibly end the war, but it comes at the cost of his own life.

After fighting so hard to save him, I expected Midoriya to be more heartbroken by this realization. Still, he was able to come to terms with the situation and find some common ground in their disapproval of the way All For One handled things. With both main villains potenti?ally out of the picture, it is hard to imagine there is much left in ??this story before Kohei Horikoshi calls it a wrap. But with any story, there could always be one or two twists left before reaching a conclusion.

My Hero Academia is in the midst of its final battle. With the war between heroes and villains at its peak, now is the perfect time to catch up on the series and start reading the new chapters as they come out. It is only a matter of time before the series comes to an end, so here is what you need to know about the presumed My Hero Academia manga release sch??ed??ule for the foreseeable future.

My Hero Academia manga release schedule

Below, you’ll find a list of the next several chapters of the My Hero Academia manga series from now through the next few months. That said, we should note that these are based on patterns from previous releases, not all of ??the official, confirmed dates.

It is entirely possible we could be wrong about a chapter or two, so keep? t??hat in mind while taking a look. Here is when we may see the next several chapters of this series come out:

Chapters Release Dates
Chapter 424 June 2
Chapter 425 June 9
Chapter 426 June 23
Chapter 427 June 30
Chapter 428 July 7
Chapter 429 July 21
Chapter 430 July 28
Chapter 431 August 4
Chapter 432 August 18
Chapter 433 August 25
Chapter 434 September 8

The idea is most of the My Hero Academia chapters t??hese days are released either weekly or every two weeks. It seems to be on an alternating pattern right now of one chapter, a week until the next chapter, then two weeks until the chapter after that, and so on. As such, this release schedule reflects that, but these are based on our predictions for the year ahead. There is even the chance for a possible short delay before the end.

When will My Hero Academia end?

While the My Hero Academia manga series is right near the very end of the final fight at the time of publishing this, it is uncertain when exactly the series will come to an end. There is no telling h??ow many chapters will be devoted to the epilogue or if any sudden final twists might show up to delay everything. The series could even end before the end of the presumed release schedule above or shortly after.

Those who want to dig in and catch up with the entire series, plus see each new chapter as it releases, can do so on two different sites. Fans can read the ongoing My Hero Academia series on either Manga Plus or the Viz Media website. Both release chapters at the exact same time on Sundays and eac??h new chapter is completely free to read for a limited time.

If you still need to catch up, we recommend reading Chapter 422 before going further. Even if there aren’t ??any officially confirmed spoilers?? for the upcoming chapter, it’s easy to connect the dots and infer where this story is heading next.

MHA Chapter 422 once again puts the spotlight on Midoriya as other heroes on the battlefield desperately attempt to distract All For One. As Midoriya passes by and gets pushed forward by every character we have gotten to know in the story, they shower him with words of encouragement in a beautiful series of panels. From Uraraka, to All Might,?? to Midoriya's mom, its moving watching them all become overcome with emotions as they cheer on from the sidelines. In particular, All Might saying "you've been my greatest hero" was an amazing line that resonates perfectly with what makes Midoriya special in the eyes of people that know him or have become fans from watching along at home.

In a surprising development buried beneath an emotional high for the series, the United States president is also moved by Midoriya and agrees to send his heroes to aid in the fight. All For One even acknowledges Midoriya as more of a threat than All Might because of his ability to inspire, making him a great shonen manga protagonist. MHA has put all of the pieces in place for this moment, and I predict the finale is close. Kohei Horikoshi has done a masterful job of handling this story's final act and the next few chapters are guaranteed ??to be memorable, if Horikoshi nails the ending.

Chapter 423 will most likely mark the start of the fi?nal fight with All For One, and I would be shocked if there weren't a few more surprises in store for the last confrontation.

With every hero and civilian cheering Midoriya on for one final push in the fight against All For One, My Hero Academia is inching closer to an epic finale. Here is everything you need to know about the MHA Chapter 422 release date,?? time, and predictions.

My Hero Academia Chapter 422 release date and time, explained

My Hero Academia will be on break next week because of Golden Week, a group of holidays in Japan from April 29 through May 5. As a result, MHA Chapter 1114 will be released in the U.S. on Monday, May 13.

Fans can check out Chapter 422 at approximately 11 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. PDT), closely aligning with the midnight release in Ja??pan. If fans stay off social media, they should have no issues av??oiding spoilers.

Where to read My Hero Academia Chapter 422

After My Hero Academia fans can read the latest chapter on Viz Media and MangaPlus. Both websites will have the c?hapter available in English. It all comes down to personal preference for which service you prefer.

What to expect from My Hero Academia  Chapter 422

If you still need to catch up, we recommend you read up through Chapter 421 before reading further. Ev??en if there aren’t any officially confirmed spoilers for the upcoming chapter, it's easy to connect the dots and infer where this s?tory is heading next.

At the end of Chapter 421, Midoryia confesses to Aizawa that he no longer has One For All but claim?s that he still has the ember of the Quirk inside him, and that's enough to fight. Then, in a beautiful series of panels, Aizawa hands Midoriya an All Might shirt to wear, and Aoyama takes his hand and leads the determined hero into battle. Kohei Horikoshi is delivering one the best final arcs in Shonen manga history, and this final panel of everyone cheering on Midoriya is just one of several that have perfectly captured the spirit of this story. There was also a stunning double-panel earlier in the chapter, showin?g every hero offering their services despite being battered and beaten. It's clear that all of the build-up has been for this moment.

In one final mission, all U.A. High School students and teachers are alongside Midoriya in his batt?le against All For One??. Based on the rapid pace of this battle, I don't expect it to go on too much longer unless there is a major twist or change in momentum. Desperate and almost out of options, All For One has devolved into a hideous creature that no longer resembles a human. I predict that the heroes will prevail within the next few chapters, and potentially put the final bow on this outstanding last story arc.

Momentum swung heavily in one direction during My Hero Academia's Final War Arc, and fans can't wait to see what this epic conclusion has left in store. Here is everything fans need to know about the My Hero Academia chapter 421 release date and time.

My Hero Academia Chapter 421 release date and time, explained

My Hero Academia is on a weekly schedule, but the manga takes at least one break every month to relieve Kohei Horikoshi of a grueling work schedule. So, after a scheduled one-week break, the next chapter of My Hero Academia will be available to read on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Fans can check out Chapter 421 at approximately 10 a.m. EDT (7 a.m. PDT), ??closely aligning with the midnight release in Japan. If fans stay off social media, they should have no issues avoiding spoilers.

Where to read My Hero Academia Chapter 421

All For One

Once the floodgates open, My Hero Academia fans can read the latest chapter on Viz Media and MangaPlus. Both websites will have the chapter a?vailable in English. It all comes down to personal preference for which service you prefer.

What to expect from My Hero Academia  Chapter 421

??If you still need to catch up, we recommend you go through Chapter 420 before reading any further. Even if there aren’t any officially confirmed spoilers for the upcoming chapter, we can infer what might happen next based on the? final few panels of Horikoshi's most recent entry.

At the end of Chapter 420, Aizawa teleports to the battlefield and uses Eri's Rewind Quirk to restore Midorya's arms, which he had lost moments earlier while trying to save Shigaraki. Aizawa pulled off the miraculous stunt using Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk and brought other heroes along to help. Based on the rapid pace of this battle, I would guess that we are?? almost near the end of it. All For One is running out of options and the odds are stacked against him. ?The Final War Arc has already been the longest Arc of the series, and there aren't too many chess pieces left on the table.

Earlier in chapter 420, Aizawa mentioned ??that this is the start of phase three of their plan, so fans should still expect a fe??w twists and turns before the story comes to a head. It's hard to believe that there will be another Arc after this one, so fans should strap in and enjoy the ride while it lasts.

My Hero Ultra Rumble recently got a Season 2, just after its launch in September of this year. Bandai Namco dropped Season 2 of the MHA brawler on November 24, featuring one fiery addition to the ?roster in Endeavor.

One of the most anticipated changes that Season 2 will feature is a new playable character. Fiery and fierce hero Endeavor has been added to the playable lineup. Endeavor is featured in the Plus Ultra Roll banner, while the vein-wielding hero Ibara is headed to the Character Tickets section.

Alongside the Flame Hero, players are getting a new “Duo? or two-player team, option where 12 teams of 2 can go head to head in battle. You can also spice up your fighters' looks in game with new costumes being added to My Hero Ultra Rumble Season 2.

My Hero Ultra Rumble is a fighting title based on the popular superhero manga-turned-anime My Hero Academia. This battle royale based fighter features matches between teams of players, made up of characters from MHA. In the series, characters are able to u??se “quirks?or supernatural abilities that make them a bit out of the ordinary, in combat and in everyday life.

My Hero Ultra Rumble only features an online mode, meaning that there is no offline option? for the game at this time. The free-to-play fighter is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.

18 characters, both heroes and villains, will be available at launch. This includes the recent additions of Eijiro Kirishima, Momo Yaoyorozu, and Ibara Shiozaki. You'll unlock these through in-game currency and pulls. Todoroki, fresh from his appearance in Fortnite, is also in this battle royale.

A Twitter (X) follower campaign for My Hero Ultra Rumble

Bandai Namco has also announced a Twitter (X, ugh) follower campaign. If the a??ccount gets 10,000 new followers from now until September 27, everyone will get the following as in-game rewards:

  • +1,000 followers = 1,000 Agency Points
  • +3,000 followers = Three Roll Tickets pulls
  • +5,000 followers = 2,500 Hero Crystals
  • +7,000 followers = Five Roll Tickets pulls
  • +10,000 followers = One character ticket (which is an instant unlock)

My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble is a 24-player battle royale that has you compete in teams of three. Each character has their own unique moves to bring to the table. For example, Baku?go has his explosive fists, while Yaoyorozu can? summon ranged cannon fire.

You can mix and match heroes and villains to create the best team. Like many other battle royale?? games, there are costumes to unlock too.

For example, the first Mission Event will give Uraraka a red and orange look while Tsuyu has a stealthy black and purple design. There will be three events per season that have you "[completing] objectives to earn limited-time rewards," according to the game's official Twitter account.

Additional outfits can also be retrieved by using Roll Tickets and Hero Crystals. My Hero Academia Ultra Rumble hopes to leave ?a mark during this busy gaming season.

Animes and RPGs are such a great power couple, however, so hopefully one day My Hero Academia will receive a roleplaying game inspired by the Persona series in the future. That's simply a wish though.

There are a bunch of new Fortnite My Hero Academia characters in the game, as announced? Tuesday by Epic Games. You can now play as Shoto Todorok?i, Eijiro Kirishima, and Mina Ashido from the anime's Class 1-A. Todoroki is available by himself, while the other two are included in a bundle. Additionally, characters can now create an Ice Wall, in addition to using the Deku Smash.

Todoroki, Kirishima, and Ashido are available on Fortnite's Item Shop. Todoroki himself comes with two costumes and is 1,500 VBucks. There's a bundle with him and three other items, such as the Cold-Hot Hitters and U.A. Uniform weapon skin, for 2,4??????????????????????????00 VBucks.

Ashido and Kirishima are 1,500 VBucks separately or 2,800 VBucks together. That 2,800 VBucks bundle also comes with the Cultural? Festival Dance, Red Riot Thrashers, Red Riot Shield, and Acid Axe.

Fortnite players can also find the Ice Wall ability, in addition to the Deku Smash as an item pick-up. You can score them easily from the All Might supply dr?op, which has the former hero's face on the balloon. The Ice Wall can protect your friends or slip up players as an offensive attack.

Additionally, there are quests focused on My Hero Academia. These include finding All Might supply drops, damaging foes with the Deku Smash, and causing fire da??mage to structures around the world. If you finish enough of these quests, you'll gain an instant level-up.

Deku, Bakugo, and Uraraka are currently not on the Fortnite Item Shop at the time of writing, but they'll may join the lineup soon if you missed them the first time. Epic Games likely wants to go all-in with this Fortnite My Hero Academia collab.

Don't worry, I am here

Fortnite is getting another anime collaboration today, this time with some superpowered stars. Deku, Bakugo, Uraraka, and All Might from My Hero Academia arrive in Fortnite today with purchasable skins and?? cosmetics i?n the Item Shop.

Over in the Item Shop, the four aforementioned heroes are getting their own skins and special items. Midoriya's skin comes with an All Might Back Bling, for instance, while Bakugo's cosmetics are suitab?ly explosive. Th??ere are emotes as well, featuring bits like Deku's tendency to take notes on heroes and All Might's cheerful laugh.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7O4UypFSp4

Even if the cosmetics aren't your thing, the My Hero Academia Fortnite collaboration is also shak?ing up the island. Special All Might-themed Supply Drops will be hitting the arena, and they can contain a little bit of Smash power to b?last at opponents.

Plus, some new Creative and additional experiences are joining the game too. Completing the special quests will net you some cosmetics, while the Hero Training Gym offers a themed activity to take part in, much like the Hidden Leaf Village map for the Naruto crossover.

Going Plus Ultra

If you're unfamiliar with My Hero Academia, it started as a manga and has become a pretty popular modern anime series out right now. Set in a world where superpowers are real, My Hero follows Izuku Midoriya, a.k.a. Deku, on his journey to become a hero through attending U.A. High, taught by the heroic icon All Might and learning alongside childhood rival Bakugo, newfound friend Uraraka, and the rest of Cla?ss 1-A.

To boil it down further, it's got a lot of similarities to Sky High. But it's a pretty good series with some memorable characters, and a cool one to feature alongside previous Fortnite crossovers like Dragon Ball and Naruto. I'm hoping for more Shonen Jump series to make their way in, too.

The My Hero Academia Fortnite crossover event is live ?now. The special quests will run until Dec??ember 29, 2022.

Another chapter, another season of skins to collect

Following yesterday's somewhat longwinded finale to the third chapter of Fortnite, the game is finally back online with Chapter 4 Season 1. At the end of the last chapter, spectators watched as the game's island was destroyed and then slowly reassembled. For Fortnite Chapter 4, that means getting to know this island from scratch once more. What locations are in? Which?? ones are out? And most ??importantly, what do I get if I buy the season pass this time?

Some of those questions are answered in the launch trailer below. As teased in the cinematic trailer released on Saturday, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher is in, as is Doom Guy. My Hero Academia is getting some repr??esentation too with Izu??ku Midoriya. Also, dirt bikes. Lots and lots of dirt bikes.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXYxZySYeFU

That map looks like it'll be fun to explore though I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the ??days when there was? a massive cliffside and waterfall right smack in the middle of it.

As for that season pass, D?oom Guy is available starting on page 5 with the rest of the skins for the season belonging to original characters, including The?? Ageless. Geralt will get his own set of missions that'll unlock later this season.

With the update to Fortnite Chapter 4, current-gen graphics have arrived for the game. Even tho?ugh I predominantly play on Xbox Series S, I can see som?e serious changes in how Unreal Engine 5.1 is handling the game. Especially the lighting. The lighting is gorgeous. In fact, I'm tempted to download it to my PS5 to see if there are further improvements my Series S isn't doing.

One Piece Odyssey preparing to set sail?

Multiple new trademarks have been filed by Bandai Namco in Japan, suggesting that more video games based on the hit franchises One Piece and My Hero Academia are in the works at the anime-loving publisher.

The One Piece trademark in question was originally filed over a month ago, back on June 17, and references the title "One Piece Odyssey". This new title would be the first One Piece release from Bandai Namco since the epic RPG-brawler One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, wh???ich launched on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch back in the spring of 2020.

Two further trademarks ?filed in Europe on June 25 ?are a little trickier to confirm, as they are simply titled "MHUI" and "MHUR" respectively. Bandai Namco has already released multiple games under the My Hero banner, so it's a snug bet that these latter trademarks represent fresh titles in the fun, superpowered series. Bandai Namco itself is yet to comment on any of these discoveries, but with multiple gaming events aligned for the coming summer, we will no doubt be hearing news on these projects very ?soon.

Seeing Red

It's been well over a year since the launch of crossover fighter Jump Force, but publisher Bandai Namco isn't done filling out its all-star cast. The next anime headliner stepping into the ring is none other than My Hero Academia's Shoto Todoroki.

Todoroki is a quiet and reserved young student who carries himself w?ith an aloofness that can be misinterpreted as arrogance. The product of an unhappy childhood, Todoroki tends to shut himself off from his fellow students, but is actually a loyal and faithful ally in battle, clearing the field with a juxtaposition of fire and ice-based powers.

As we?? can see from the above trailer, Todoroki will utilise these dueling elements in-game, with his ice abilities allowing for speedy maneuverability and the freezing of his opposition, while raging fireballs and streams of flame can cause colossal damage.

Shoto Todoroki will be made available May 26 as a part of the Jump Force Character Pass 2, or can be purchased separately for around $4. Jump Force is available now on PS4, ?PC, a??nd Xbox One. It will launch on Nintendo Switch later in 2020.

Go ahead and jump

As reported in Japanese magazine Weekly Jump (coincidentally) Bandai Namco's anime fighter Jump Force will be ??headed to the Nintendo Switch platform later this year, following on from its 2019 release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

Jump Force sees famous characters from the world of manga and anime collide, featuring throwdowns between such intergalactic megastars as Dragon Ball's Goku, Vegeta, and Cell; Hunter x Hunter's Gon and Kurapika; Naruto's Naruto and Sasuke; Bleach's ?Ichigo and Ranji and many ??more recognisable warriors from page and screen.

The Jump Force Deluxe Edition will ??include the base game and its nine previous DLC characters. The Switch edition will feature online battles for up to six players and will?? support two-player wireless for local showdowns.

In addition to the Switch port news, Weekly Jump also announced that a second character pass was in the works, which will add five more fighters to the game's already expansive roster. First up is My Hero Academia??'s Shoto Todoroki. You can check out his trailer below.

Jump Force is available now on PS4, PC, an??d Xbox One. It will launch on Switch later this year.

Upcoming DLC character prepares for battle

At this weekend's Anime Expo event, Bandai Namco, (among a glut of other news and announcements), released a trailer for the next character headed to their anime crossover fighter Jump Force. Joining the roster this summer will be Katsuki Bakugo of My Hero Academia fame.

Although the young hothead's inclusion as paid DLC has been ??known about for some time, this new trailer gives fans the chance to check out Bakugo in action. Blink and you'll miss it as,?? in true Bandai Namco fashion, the trailer whizzes by at a scant 20 seconds. Hot-head en route to anime fighter

Bandai Namco has released a few teasing screenshots of My Hero Academia star Bakugo, who is headed to anime crossover fighter Jump Force as one of the title's DLC characters.

Katsuki Bakugo is a hero-in-training from super-popular anime series My Hero Academia. Of the series cast, Bakugo has one of the more unlikable personalities. Brash, rude and highly volatile, Bakugo obsession with victory, eye for strategy and fragile pride make him a formidable hero, but a questionable personality. Still, he's on the side of ?the good guys, regardless of his crappy attit??ude.

You can check out the screenshots of Bakugo in action below. There is currently no specific date for when he will be joining the roster, but he will be made available as part of the Jump Force' Character Pass, alongside fellow MHA alumni All Might, Naruto's Madara Uchiha, One Piece' T?rafa?lgar D. Jump Force is available now on PS4, PC and Xbox One.

Various State Smashes

My Hero Academia's star character, All Might, will be coming to Jump Force as DLC soon. Bandai Namco revealed the news on its Facebook page with a plethora of screenshots to show him off. I'm curious if his super move will be the "United States of Smash," which could honestly be a good name for a Smash Bros. tournament.

All Might is the second DLC character revealed for Jump Force. The First, Yu-Gi-Oh's Seto Kaiba, was said to be released in May alongside two other fighters, so All Might is likely to be accompanied by another mystery dueler. I'm not sure what the price is for indiv??idual fighters, but you can nab them all in the "Character Pass" for $29.99 on your respective platform.

Gale Force is back

My Hero Academia has had an explosive year despite its humble origins back in 2014 as a manga. It's hosted a third season of its anime adaptation this year and a full feature film (that got a theatrical release in the west) and its first major console fighting game: My Hero One's Justice. Which, notably, had a Switch release.

Now Bandai Namco is gearing up for one of the things it does best: a lengthy DLC campaign. The publisher has announced that the wind-based fighter Inasa Yoarashi also known as "Gale Force," is arriving in One's Justice. He'll be playable of cour??se and sport his own mission pack.

Inasa Yoarashi will debut on November 14 in all versions of the game (PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch). He should follow suit with the pricing scheme already in place for DLC ?characters: $2.99, which is already implemented with Endeavor.

Do you know My Hero Academia? How about Boku no Hero Academia? If?? you’re aware of the blockbuster manga and anime series, that goes by either one of those names, then My Hero One’s Justice might just be the fighting game for you.

If you’re by some chance not aware of it... well, it might still be the fighting game for you, th??ough at that point you'll have to ask yourself how much you like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series.

My Hero One's Justice review

My Hero One's Justice (PS4 [Reviewed], Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC)
Developer: Byking
Publisher: Bandai Namco Games
Released: October 26, 2018
MSRP: $59.99

[Note: This review may contain spoilers for the My Hero Academia anime.]

On the off chanc??e that someone is confused about the rather awkward title, this game is indeed the English release of My Hero Academia: One’s Justice. Whatever the shenanigans  that caused this awkward re-branding may be, they haven’t affected the game underneath in any way I can detect. Fans can rest assured that they won’t need to rep?ort this game to the @bootleg_stuff Twitter account. Then again, it’s hard to make that mistake once you actually see the content. The game&rsquo??;s so marinated in My Hero Academia that it practically assumes players have, at minimum, seen ??????????????????????????a significant chunk of the anime series.

For the absolutely uninitiated, though, the setup is pretty simple either way. In the near future, human society has gone superhuman, as most people are now born with a superpowered ability, or “Quirk”. The change has led to the rise of a new type of celebrity civil servant: the crime-fighting Pro Hero. Chief among them is All Might, the ultra-strong “Symbol of Peace” and mentor to series protagonist Izuku “Deku” Midoriya, a hero-obsessed fanboy born “Quirkless”. Deku is selected by All Might to inherit his power (a mighty Quirk called “One For All”), and enrolls into U.A. Academy, the premier educational institute for?? aspiring pro heroes. There he meets his classmates, and makes some enemies, notably the League of Villains, an antisocial organization led by a murderous jerk named Tomura Shiragaki, and “All For One”, a powerful super??villain and All Might's arch-nemesis.

All the above is pretty much covered in the opening crawl, after which the campaign mode leaps straight into the middle of the second anime season, covering events up to about the middle of the third season, with basically no deviation beyond slightly remixing circumstances to allow for more brawling. Otherwise, it's a straight retread of what's gone before, featuring most of the principal Hero Academia cast. To pad things out a bit, the same events can be played from the Villains' perspective, putting players in control of characters such as Tomura, Dabi, Himiko Toga, and even All For One himself. Future characters, like Shoto Todoroki's dad, Endeavor, and an alternate version of Deku using his "Shoot Style" fighting techniques, have b??een announced as DLC downloads.

Campaign s?tages can be replayed to fulfill challenge goals and unlock new customization options for multiplayer. A more distinct "Mission Mode" imposes stricter conditions, a basic Training mode provides a space to practice, while a??n Arcade mode rounds out the single-player options with a quick six-match run against AI opponents. Multiplayer-wise, basic online matchmaking, lobby, and local versus options are provided, but tournament modes or the sort of community-boosting measures that more serious fighter fans might desire are absent.

There's plenty to get silly with for My Hero Academia fans, though, as the in-game currency shop can unlock all manner of customization options, including alternate voice lines for intros, alternate win screens, player profile flairs, and alternate colors and accessories for the in-game models. It's nowhere near as robust as the character creators for the likes of Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur, but if you ever wanted to fight as the bird-headed Tokoyami while wearing a giant mask of his own head on top of his actual head, this is definitely the place to be.

My Hero One's Justice review

It's also the place to be if you've been jonesing for another fighting game in the mold of the Naruto-based Ultimate Ninja Storm games. For all intents and purposes, the core mechanics of My Hero One's Justice so closely mimic Cyberconnect2's landmark anime fighter that I'd believe you if you told me this was some kind of My Hero Academia-themed total conversion of the recent PC edition of Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. And that's no?t a bad thing at all, since those games are among my favorite fighters of all time.

Like the Ultimate Ninja Storm titles, One's Justice is an input-light fighter with 3-D movement set in a large arena. Characters can move around freely, as well as use various auto-aimed ranged and melee attacks to close the distance and set up air juggles. Normal attacks and "Quirk Specials" are easily accessed on ??the face buttons, and inputs rarely get more complicated than simply pushing the stick in a direction and hitting a key.

Filling a super meter lets a player toss out a "Plus Ultra" attack, which typically comes in?? two varieties that take up one or more "charges" of the super bar. For younger players and those who want an easier time, an "auto" mode will automatically string together basic combos, allowing players to just hammer the attack button repeatedly. Tellingly, this the default "Normal" setting, with a slightly trickier "Manual" mode letting more advanced contenders take advantage of cancels and other fun stuff.

Though the inputs are mostly uniform across the roster, every character behaves fairly differently based on their Quirks and other characteristics. Deku and All Might are ?fairly straightforward power fighters, but Bakugou works best when he can corner his opponent and feed them a steady diet of explosive death. Tokoyami, who can call out a shadow-like buddy to fight with, can attack from two directions at once, while Todoroki, with his dual-mode ice and fire powers, works quite differently in the air from how he does on the ground.

My Hero One's Justice review

That said, even fighting fairly brain-dead AI opponents in story mode quickly surfaced some of the annoyances of combat. The reliance on homing attacks and air juggling makes the fighting feel a bit floaty and unresponsive, and pretty much everyone has too few ways to break out of a combo once they get caught in one. Bar a "counter" attack that has an uninterruptible animation, many fights just boiled down to who could stun-lock their opponent long enough to land ?a super.

Ultimately, the fighting in My Hero One's Justice feels like it lacks the fine-tuning and more elegant qualities of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games it cribs from. Further, some aspects just don't look right in the context of the source fiction. Byking's legacy, making high-flying games like Gunslinger Stratos and Rise of Incarnates, reveals itself in just how much of the game can be played in the air. Jumps and dashes regularly take characters floating high into the sky, even if very few in the roster even have the ability to hover. In some of the stages that feature a ring-out mechanic, it was hilarious to see two characters just dashing and double-, triple-, quadruple- and quintuple-jumping to combo each other off of the safe ground. It was like the game was inadvertently channeling Smash Brothers at times, and unfort??unately not in a ??good way.

That being said, it does get the spectacle right elsewhere. The game looks gorgeous, and unlike many fighting games, takes the aesthetic appeal of a super-fight just leveling the zone seriously. Though only cosmetic, there's a level of attention given to environmental destruction in the game that I find utterly joyful. Over the course of a round players will turn places like clean city streets, immaculate classrooms, peaceful homes, and the frontage of U.A. Academy itself into a charred, smoking ruin. The sheer amount of debris flying around and ??oddly weightless bits and bobs being knocked about by the shockwaves, explosions,?? and super-powered hammer-throws is enough to make my base model PS4 turn its cooling fans on full blast (it sounded like I was playing next to a vacuum cleaner). Bar a few noticeable drops when a lot of fire or particle effects on screen, the game moved at a high, fairly consistent, framerate.

My Hero One's Justice review

How much you get out of My Hero One's Justice will likely depend on how much you enjoy either My Hero Academia or how much you desire a highly accessible, style-over-substance fighter. Giv??en that we live in a time with a see?mingly unprecedented number of absolutely fantastic anime fighters, that might be a big ask for some. In the end, the game's biggest sin may be not embodying U.A.'s "Plus Ultra" spirit, and simply settling for being a decent, good-looking fighting game take on a popular anime franchise.

At least HIDIVE joined VRV

Today is a sad day for anime fans. For the past two years, Funimation and Crunchyroll have had a partnership where they would share the streaming rights for various anime titles, but that partnership has come to an end. As of November 9, the partnership between Funimation and Crunchyroll will? end, as well as Funimation's partnership with VRV. The reason is mostly due to AT&T's buyout of WarnerMedia, who owns both VRV and Crunchyroll, while Sony owns Funimation.

So what does this mean for the average anime viewer? Well, it's unclear at the moment. According to Crunchyroll, several Funimation titles will disappear from its service on November 9, however, those titles have yet to be decided on. Crunchyroll also stated that titles that premiered during its partnership, like My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan, will continue to air on Crunchyroll, though the company didn't specify for how long or if future seasons will still air on its service. On t??hat same note, the Funimation channel on VRV will shut down on November 9.

On a more positive note, HIDIVE, another anime streaming channel specializing in dubs, will appear to take Funimation's place. HIDIVE is a relatively new streaming service, but it's streaming some solid titles like Release the Spyce and Made in Abyss, aka if Dark Souls was made for children.

It's sad to see Funimation leave Crunchyroll and VRV, but they're still going to be producing dubs for shows. It's just inconvenient to see them leave VRV and Crunchyroll since it was so nice having all of my anime in one location. Still, getting HIDIVE on board softens the blow, plus now I have another excuse to watch Made in Abyss on an anime streaming service that won't implode on itself after ??a year (co??ughanimestrikecough).

The best girl is here

My Hero Academia is getting a major fighting game adaptation later this year, and joining the already four confirmed characters (Izuku Midoriya,?? Bakugo Katsuki, All Might, and ??Tomura Shiragaki) are three more Class 1-A favorites.

Shoto Todoroki, Tenya Iida, and Ochaco Uraraka (the goodest girl, fig??ht me) have joined t??he roster. See how they look in action below in the gallery.

My Hero Academia: One's Justice hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, ??an?d Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
