That's it, Guardians...

The servers are officially down in the lead-up to the release of Destiny 2: Lightfall on February 28. Bungie has had some surprises up its sleeves though, as it released a very heavy blog post detailing all of the changes being made to the game during the server downtime, which lasts for 24 hours.

Amongst all of the details, one controversial nerf has been spotted by fans. One of the most popular Titan Exotics in Destiny 2, Heart of Inmost Light, has had a huge change which severely diminishes its effectiveness. In the patch notes, Bungie detailed the changes being made to Heart of Inmost Light. Pri??or to the servers being taken down, the Exotic chest plate was giving a 150% class regeneration buff in PvE activities and 38% in PvP. After the changes, this drops to 25% across both PvE and PvP activities. As well as this huge drop, the duration of its Empowered buff will decrease from ten seconds to just five.

Bungie, why?!

[caption id="attachment_361917" align="alignnone" width="640"] Image via Bungie[/caption]

Bungie always has its reasons for adjusting equipment and weapons in Destiny 2 and it seems this alteration to Heart of Inmost Light is no different. "This change is intended to decrease how easy it is to get and maintain a 2x empowerment bonus in PvE, as well as reduce the? total amount of bonus ability energy provided," Bungie said. "The goal is for Heart of Inmost Light to remain strong in ability-focused builds while giving room for other Exotics to shine as well."

The Exotic chest piece became popular for the Titan class in Destiny 2, as it regenerated ability energy faster than many other Exotics. This led to ability-focused builds that could create "loops" of using abilities almost endlessly, with those abilities also outputting higher damage numbers. This doesn't seem to have changed in the massive overhaul being done with the introduction of Lightfall.

Perhaps the most valu??able thing about Heart of Inmost Light, though, was the fact it could be used with any subclass build. Without its effectiveness, there's a chance Titans will look to Hallowfire Heart for Solar builds, or another neutral Exoti?c such as Mask of the Quiet One.

All is not lost though, as there are plentiful reworks, system overhauls, new mechanics, and an entirely new subclass in the form of Strand for Guardians to get their hands dirty with when Lightfall becomes available on February 28.

It's a real-life Fishbones!

Jinx was already one of the most well-loved and recognizable characters on the League of Legends roster, but after the release of Netflix's Arcane, her popularity has launched into the stratosphere. That kind of mainstream recognition usually means there are some awesome collabs on the way, which is definitely true in this case. This time around, Riot teamed up with Nerf to create a life-sized replica of Jinx's classic blaster known as Fishbones, which was also featured in Arcane, as fans will remember.

Jinx's Fishbones is available for pre-order now (pre-orders close January 1, 2023, and will be shipping on December 31, 2022. The gun is a gargantuan 35 inches long, and features jaws that open and close as you shoot. It holds 18 total darts, shooting out a three round burst every time you pull the trigger. Fishbones also comes with a Jinx-inspired stand and "display-worthy packaging" for those who want to show it off for everyone to see. The NERF LMTD League of Legends Jinx Fishbones blaster retails for $169.99, and is available for pre-order on Amazon or directly from Nerf.

The Jinx Fishbones collaboration is part of NERF LMTD, a " premium, special edition, fan-focused line from the Nerf brand brings you some of the most iconic items from movies, video games, and entertainment with premium features and packaging." Other franchises that have been honored with a Nerf collab include Star Wars, Halo, Star Trek, Aliens, and G.I. Joe, just to name a few.

This has seriously got to be one of the coolest gaming merchandise crossovers I think I've?? ever seen, and absolutely something I wish I had when I was a kid. I've only touched League of Legends once in my life (that's a whole story for another day), but the second Nerf releases something from a game I play, I might just have to splurge and treat my inner child.

Kill the Wabbit

This past weekend saw fight fans lock horns in Warner Bros.' brand new scrapper MultiVersus, the crossover fighter having just launched its open access beta on PC and console platforms and while the fur has only been flying for a few? days, already characters are queued up to have their wings clipped by developer Player First Games.

In something of an obscure tweet posted this weekend, MultiVersus director Tony Huynh noted that "Nerfs Inc." would be headed to the title post-EVO (which takes place in Las Vegas this weekend). While no specific characters were announced for the chopping block, Huynh ??added that "Bugs Bunny will always be fun."

//twitter.com/Tony_Huynh?/status/1552517058??918682624?s=20&t=unq02SbgfNGQK4ddQ-VM9A

No doubt Huynh is pointing toward the fact that the carrot-chomping smart arse is already proving to be something of a dominant player within MultiVersus' crossover world. Bugs has seemingly overshot Taz as somebody singled out as something of a problem character for players, after the latter had his devastating Tornado Spin attac?k scaled right down scant? hours into the beta's launch.

In a chaotic platform fighter such as MultiVersus, it can be difficult to accurately ascertain who may have a leg-up on the competition. Add to that th??e way ALL fighting game players call for nerfs within minutes of?? a title's launch, and it takes a sharp developer to truly ascertain which characters are actually broken and which characters players are simply "losing to" as they aren't bothering to learn the matchup.

Either way, MultiVersus has had an immensely healthy beta launch, with over 144,000 players logging into Steam at its peak period. We shall see how the title retains its audience over the coming weeks and months. MultiVersus is now in open beta on PlayStation, ?PC, and Xb??ox platforms.

Dang, they already Nerfed the Gjallarhorn

The infamous Gjallarhorn rocket launcher is arriving in Destiny 2 as part of Bungie's 30th Anniversary celebration. And for Guardians who get one in-game, they'll also be able to get one in real-li?fe in the form of a Nerf Gjallarhorn blaster.

Yes, Bungie and Nerf are teaming up for a Nerf Gjallarhorn blaster. The shop page is already live, but locking one in comes with a pre-requisite: You'll need to unlock the Gjallarhorn in-game before August 1, 2022. Those are who are ??eligible will then be notified by email when they can pre-order the $160 blaster, for a limited time, before sales open up to the public.

And fittingl?y, this Gjallarhorn Nerf blaster seems terrifying. First off, it's designed at a 1:1 scale. That means it's over four feet long,?? with sculpted details. It also fires "first-of-its-kind" Mega shells, which fire three darts at once from a shell, imitating the Gjallarhorn's Wolfpack rounds.

Now you may be asking yourself, is that all worth it? It's a giant imitation blaster of a fairly infamous Destiny 2 rocket launcher. I think your personal response to that sentence will answer the question on its own. For me, I'm becoming slightly worried that writing about Nerf versions of video game guns is going to become my beat.

And on top of it, the Gjallarhorn Nerf blaster comes with several saf?ety warnings, including one telling you not to modify the blaster. I don't know why you would, when it? seems like the 1:1 scale launcher could probably already punch a hole through a window.

It's unclear when this will be available t?o the general public, or if pre-orders won't already wipe the supply out. So if you want your own massive Gjallar-Nerf-horn, you should probably start working on that 30th Anniversary quest.

This is the best argument for never giving me spending money, and I simply do not care

Growing up, you always dream of the day you have the cash to buy something frivolous for yourself. Something you want but don't need like, say, a Nerf rifle version of a Halo Infinite assault rifle.

So now that I'm older, I've bought myself a Halo Infinite Nerf assault ?rifle. This o??ne was for you, my younger self.

Microsoft and 343 Industries have been running several tie-ins for Halo Infinite with chances to get in-game cosmetics, ranging from some silly ones to typical ones. Yet when I saw the Halo Infinite AR, after spending days and nights playing the shadow-dropped Halo Infinite multip??layer, I knew I had to get it. I'm older now. I have the cash to spare.

W??ell folks, it arrived t?oday, and honestly? I don't regret a penny of it.

The Nerf blaster itself is a pretty solid recreation of the Halo Infinite MA40, or Assault Rifle, in plastic-y Nerf form. It's got?? some bulk to it, and a good mechanical feel thanks to the locking Nerf clip, rail riser, fake ammo counter, and internal mot?or.

The Halo Infinite MA40 Nerf Blaster in real life

I don't know wh??en they started making Nerf blasters this cool, because I still remember the single-shot pump-action ones. But not only does this one have an internal motor that requires some battery power, but it's much larger than I anticipated. I was under the assumption that kids, or at least older kids, would be the target demo. It's not actual rifle-sized, ?but it's definitely bulkier, sturdier, and larger than I imagined.

And while the Nerf rifle itself is fun, just as entertaining is having it in-game in Halo Infinite too. I've liked the toy variants in other games like Valorant, and the Halo Infinite Nerf rifle looks genuinely fun in-game. Sadly no darts on the ground that I noticed, but the colors and little N??erf dart? charm are already a good time.

The Halo Infinite MA40 Nerf Blaster in-game

And like other cosmetics, players can pick up and use my Assault Rifle, so really this gift goes out to all of you. I'?ll be dropping a cool, colorful Assault Rifle every time I die and, if my efforts to secure the objective in Big Team Battle are any indication, you'll be finding a hefty number of colorful Assault Rifles on the ground.

So while it was a pricy skin—running about $50 USD when I bought it—I've got both a sick new prop and a fun new in-game MA40. I've spent more for less. And honestly, it's a lot better than chugging more Rockstar E??nergy for another XP boost.
