Ion Lands, the developer behind the cyberpunk delivery game Cloudpunk, has released a set of new screenshots for its upcoming slice-of-life simulator Nivalis. It's shared ??them to help give fans a look behind the curtain and involve them in the development process by showing how the world is coming ?together.

When Ion Lands asked its community what it wanted to see in the future, it said it was made very clear that it needs to show more of Nivalis as it's being developed. The developer stated, "We really want you to feel like you’re on this journey with us, and strongly believe that by giving you a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes, this will help with that." In addition to the featured image for this article, we've now got six new gorgeous screenshots of what is my favorite cyberpu?nk city in video games, Nivalis.

You can see all seven of the new Nivalis screenshots shared by Ion Lands in its post on Twitter. I want to highlight a couple that I think are particularly beautiful and interesting, starting with this picture of a man sitting beneath a sign. He's set up shop with a magazine rack to his left and a stove on the right. Clearly, he's just trying to eke out a living in what?? is a fairly tough city to carve out a business in, utilizing the space available and a huge sign that has nothing to do with him but would certainly draw the eye.

This screenshot, showing the space between two buildings and the endless structures beyond, is the perfect image of Nivalis. In Cloudpunk, you fly around and between buildings moving from delivery point to pick-up spot. The portal at the bottom of the image in the distance is a link between dis??tricts that a huge train moves through.

One of the best parts of Cloudpunk is walking the streets of Nivalis. You need to take lifts up to the top of skyscrapers to see the dingy apartments that people have saved their entire lives for. Despite the depressing situations the citizens find themselves in, I always look upon Nivalis and find beauty in the endless clouds and complete annihilation of nature. Something about its brutality and the way people have made it their own with bright signs and wires dragging through the air between windows really stands out to me.?

The final image I want to showcase is what could easily be the interior of the apartment or restaurant you end up in while playing Nivalis. It's run down now, but one of the goals of the game is to set up a thriving?? business. I look at this and see the potential for all sorts of decorations I could buy by making my business profitable. Even if it goes under, I cou?ld always sell the fish I catch from the rivers that cover the bottom of the city's skyscrapers.

Nivalis is slated for a 2025 release, but we don't have a date or window outside of that year. These screenshots certainly make?? the environments look promising, but I'd like to see some new gameplay in the future to better understand where we fit into this world.

As part of the Games Made in Germany Steam Festival, supported by B2B Magazine GamesMarkt, developer Ion Lands has finally revealed the release date for Novalis. The game will be available in Spring 2025, allowing fans to return to the city first seen in Cloudpunk.

Nivalis is a cozy cyberpunk slice-of-life game in which you set up and run a restaurant for the citizens living out their lives in the titular city, decorate apartments, make friends and enemies, find love, and even go fishing. The game is a surprising follow up to the narrative delivery driving game Cloudpunk, but one that looks to delve deepe??r into what is arguably the second main character of that game. The city you explore itself.

See the city beneath the clouds like never before when Nivalis launches in early 2025

In Nivalis, you begin your journey as a restauranteur with a small stall selling ramen and noodles. From there, you can specialize and expand to offer new food, stims, or shift your focus to something ??else entirely, like a nightclub. You'll meet a diverse range of strange characters, some of whom can help you succeed, require your assistance with interesting problems, or make a nuisance of themselves and threaten your business.

The game has a lot of depth to it, requiring you to source the ingredients for the food you serve by purchasing or growing it. That's where fishing comes in??to play because you've got to find meat for your cyberpunk sushi from somewhere. I don't trust the waters of Nivalis myself, but your customers don't need to know where the fish came from.

I'm most excited about the stories you get to experience in Nivalis. Cloudpunk showcased many?? aspects of this intriguing world, including the ever-growing city and the AI that powers it, an escalat?or to nowhere, and a faction living off moss in the city's giant sewer system.

The characters in Cloudpunk are also a huge part of what makes that game so engrossing, so I'm expecting big things from the characters we'll meet in this game. From a head who rises through the ranks?? to the top of society to a group of androids who have had their memories erased over and over again to keep them compliant, there's so much potential in this?? world for stories that have never been told, and I can't wait to see how they unfold when we get to play it.

A slice of cyberpunk life

Today, developer Ion Lands launched DLC for its cyberpunk taxi game Cloudpunk. Dubbed City of Ghosts, it's the size of a sequel, according to Ion Lands. And what's more, it's not all the developer has planned for the world of Cloudpunk.

City of Ghosts sees players return to the city of Nivalis, conti??nuing the story of Rania and Camus. There are two viewpoints, swapping between Rania and deadbeat gambler Hayse, as well as new features like street racing and vehicle customization.

Alongside the launch of City of Ghosts, Ion Lands also launched a store page for Nivalis, a slice-of-life sim set in the same world as Cloudpunk. Taking place in the city of Nivalis, you choose how to spend your time: grow your bu??siness, hang out with characters, and decorate your home, or blow?? it all off to go fishing.

There's no release date or window set just yet, only a Steam page. It's nice to see that Ion Lands is finding more ways to explore this world, though. Cloudpunk was a pretty alright little experience that I've heard folks talk about for a while, and an experience ??that's just about running a shop and living your life in a cybernetic future? I'm i?ntrigued.
