I'm back on my stupid-games-involving-animals bullshit, y'all. As a note to game developers, if you put alpacas, llamas, or pretty much any animal into a game with little rhyme or r??eason, there's at least a 60% chance I'm going t??o cover it.

Austrian developer Salt Castle Studio f??igured that out. They ?put alpacas in a party game revolved around soccer, and well, here we are.

With Alpaca Ball: Allstars, what you see if what you get. It's a soccer party game starring customizable alpacas. It looks like there are some variations for hockey, American football, and volleyball in there, too. But instead of people playing soccer, it's alpacas. It's genius.

My aunt 'bout to be hype as fuck

I promised the editing staff here at Destructoid that I would write this piece as a professional journalist simply trying to cover industry news for a slow Sunday. Little did they know I had my fingers crossed behind my back. That? means it doesn't count!

Because nothing makes sense anymore, the hit mobile Scrabble knockoff Words with Friends 2 has?? teamed up with Garth Brooks to promote the death of relevant marketing cross promotion to ?create the biggest niche promotion in recent history. Welcome to the future, people.

Normally I'd put a trailer right here, but I'm too sad?? for that right now.

Did you know Words with Friends 2 has a gameshow within the app? I didn't, because I have actual friends. But it does, and Chris Gaines Garth Brooks himself will co-host on May 1 to promote both the worldwide hit game and his new deluxe career-spanning ?vinyl set.

My main gripe here is promotions are meant to help the brands involved, right? So, like, theoretically Garth Brooks could help introduce his fans to Words with Friends, and Words with Friends could help players discover Garth Brooks' frankly intimidating discography. The trouble is, I just don't see it. Are there a lot of WwF players (who are primarily American) who somehow have a proclivity to country music but haven't heard of Brooks? Are there a lot of Garth fans who have so much time on their hands in between changing out the cassettes for Ropin' the Wind and Fresh Horses that they have an innate desire to create? words using random letters?

Don't get me wrong: Garth Brooks has sold a fucking lot of records. According to the press release Zynga sent us, dude went Diamond seven times and is the biggest-selling solo artist in US history. That's huge. And Words with Friends is apparently the number one social word game in the US, which isn't quite as impressive as selling 150 million records, but it still beats my social word game Say 'Fuck' to Grandma, which really did not take off like I'd hoped.

Just, like, WTF? Ya know? This is so incredibly out of left field ?that I couldn't help but bring this strange, random, stupid news to you, the dedicated Destructoid readers. So let's celebrate how asinine this is the only way we can -- by making fun of it in the comments below. Can you think of a celebrity/mobile game mashup that makes any less sense? I'd love to hear it.

Can you help me find some hard drive space?

It just dawned on me that 2019 is not only going to contain Kingdom Hearts III and Resident Evil 2 but Shenmue III. Holy cow is that awesome! What isn't so awesome is the required hard drive space for Yu Suzuki's long-coming sequel. As revealed in a Kickstarter update, Shenmue III will occupy a whopping 100 GB on PC.

While that is probably down to 4K assets being available, it likely means the PS4 version is also going to be ridiculously big. As we head further into th??e futur?e and game developers continuously push the boundaries of graphics, this number is only going to keep increasing. Sadly, internet speeds aren't getting that much better, so anyone opting for a digital copy could be looking at a long wait.

At least the rest of the specifications are pretty manageable. The page does have a disclaimer saying that the specs are based on an in-progress build and may likely change, but it doesn't seem you'll need a PC of the future to see the (possible) end of Shenmue. You ?can see the system requirements below (there is no minimum or recommended setup).

Dante Daddy steps out!

Devil May Cry and over-the-top pizzaz go together like Broadway shows and melodrama, so it was only a matter of time before daddy Dante made his stage debut. Capcom Japan has announced that a brand new stage play titled Devil May Cry: The Live Hacker will be opening for a limited run in Japan next March. Capcom is promising stylish action and live performances, which certainly sounds like DMC.

The performance will be directed by Jun Yukiro. Yukiro previously directed Resident Evil's stage play in 2015. Characters present will be Dante (obviously), Gideon, Elise, Henry, Ow?en, Luke, and Muul. Noah, Lady, and Trish are slated to appear but have not yet been cast.

The play will be running from March 1, 2019, until M??arch 10, 2019, with 13 sho??ws. It will be held at the Zepp DiverCity plaza in Tokyo with tickets going for 7,800 yen for general admission and 9,800 yen for "premium." Registration from the limited lottery of tickets will begin on November 10 at 10:00 am JST and run until November 25. Winners will be announced on November 29.

That's a new one

Just last week, Bethesda sent out a letter to fans warning about potential bugs in the Fallout 76 beta. Now that it is available on PC and PS4, though, an extremely odd one has cropped up. For players on PC, clicking any button in the game's la??uncher will actually delete the entire game? and necessitate a redownload.

A Tweet was put out this afternoon warning all players on PC to not click any buttons in the client "for the time being." As discovered by Kotaku, doing so would erase? the nearly 50 GB beta from users hard drives. A follow-up tol?d players that if they see a progress bar for a download, to let it finish.

It seems we've ascended from glitches "breaking" a game to outright deleting them. I can guarantee this wasn't the type of bug Bethesda was anticipating, but the coincidental nature of this type of thing affecting Fallout 76 makes me chuckle a little. Hopefully, everything works out for players, since I would hate to be downloading 50 GBs multiple?? times in? a day.

Despite Saints Row IV still holding the record for the most absurdly priced special edition ever made, I'm floored by how ludicrous the prices for special editions are. What used to max out around $150 has steadily grown until we're seeing $300, $1,000 and now an almost $8,000 package for ultra fans. Capcom Japan has announced that its upcoming Devil May Cry 5 will be receiving three different "Ultra Limited Editions" that contain replica jackets o?f the game's three stars.

For those of you wi??th more money than sense, you'll be able to grab Dante's jacket for 900,000 yen ($7,983), Nero's jacket for 750,000 yen ($6,652) or V's jacket for 600,000 ($5322). Thankfully, each jacket comes with a copy of the game on your platform of choice, but you're probably not even going to care at that point. Obviously looking as good as old man Dante is your main priority, because why else would you drop around eight grand for something?

While I wouldn't expect these editions to come to the US (Resident Evil 6's insanely?? priced jacket edition didn't), you could always? import them and add an additional few hundred dollars to the mix.

At least it has fun stuff

Physical strategy guides might still be a thing in 2018, but they typically don't cost more than the game they're covering. Bethesda's upcoming Fallout 76, though, is getting a "Platinum Edition" guide from Prima that will run you around $115. That is certainly a lot of dough to pay for a game guide, but at least the bonus goodies included might sweeten the deal for Fallout mega-fans.

For those of you with money burning a hole in your pockets, this guide will contain a Fallout fashioned binder, an individually numbered art print, three pocket journals, postcards from the Appalachia region, beverage coasters, a "premium" double-sided map and an alternate cover with ??a special cloth bookmark. That is certainly a lot of swag for your buck!

You can currently find the guide on both Amazon and Bethesda's official website. Shipments are said to s?tart on December 14, 2018, so you probably won't even need this by the time it ends up?? on your doorstep.

Blackout your hard drive!

With the news that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's disc wouldn't function without a day-one update, the next question in order was how large of an update was required. While we've been seeing game sizes increase over the last few years, usually buying a disc means you get to skip some downtime by having the files ready to install. Apparently not this year, as Black Ops 4's game enabling patch is massive.

If you intend on getting Black Ops 4 physically, you'll need to download a 50 GB patch before you can play it??. The official Activision support site actually recommends around 112 GB be free for "an optimized download experience," which just makes no sense to me (is the game downloading a full installer then unpacking the files?). The final space usage clocks in around 55 GB, so do the discs contain next to nothing?

If you're buying the game digitally, then this news won't matter. As noted under the digital version, Black Ops 4 is around 55 GB in size. That is still quite a large download, ??but that typically comes with the territory for modern triple-A games. For people buying the disc, however, this is pretty unacceptable. The whole point of nabbing a disc is to skip gigantic downloads like this, so why is the majority of the game's data not available?

I guess it is better to know now so you can make your plans accordingly for Friday. I'm not so sure this wasn't just a way for Activision to push people into nabbing the digital version but maybe that doesn't matter for an online b??ased experience.

A.K.A. Saving Face

Being a famous Hollywood actor must really suck. You can't speak freely about your projects without someone quoting them out of context or weaponizing your words against you. As I posted yesterday, Tom Hardy stated in an interview with YouTube channel "ComicsExplained" that his favorite scenes to film from Venom were in the 30-40 minutes cut from the film. Since that sounds an awful lot like a red flag, IGN took to asking Hardy about the quote at the premiere for Venom last night.

While I do honestly believe his answer here, I can't help but feel he was coerced into this response from a studio executive. Mumbling around his words, Hardy clarifies that to answer the question of the scene he was most excited in shooting, "I was talking like an actor. I had a lot of time improvising and a lot of freedom to play with Venom. So in honesty, there is probably like seven hours or more of me playing Venom and enjoying myself."

He then continues, "So me and the other executive producers know full well that has nothing to do with what's in that story. But never the less, would I like to watch a seven-hour version of Venom...yeah." Hardy also mentions that everything he wanted for the story was included in the fil??m and that it is awesome and he's ready for a sequel.

I'm fully aware that there are probably hund?reds of hours of "footage" from various films that never see the light of day. When making any project, you always want more footage instead of less, so Hardy's comments from yesterday shouldn't have been automatically bad. That being said, Hardy's response here doesn't really clarify much. You could bas??ically break this down to, "I did what I was told and let them cut out the parts I liked."

Really, I would just ignore these bits if you have any interest in the film. There is no point in entering a theater with a negative bias, so just let go of Hardy's possible misquotes and try to enjoy Venom for what it is. As I said yesterday??, maybe Sony rea?lly does have the best interest of this film in mind.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. At the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, attendees were able to sample a wide range of upcoming titles from major Japanese developers. One of the more prominent was Devil May Cry 5, a sort of revival of the zany action genre that Capcom lit a fire under in 2001. While other people also spotted this, GameSpot broke the news that Dante and Nero's latest adventure would ??include microtransactions for those among us with fa??t wallets.

Speaking to Hideaki Itsuno, GameSpot asked if having the feature was even necessary for an action title like Devil May Cry. Isn't the whole point of the series to progressively better yourself by unlocking combos, learning them and then perfecting them to earn?? more orbs? I'm pretty sure you can guess ??the response because it is the same trite nonsense we've heard time and time again.

"With giving people the ability to purchase Red Orbs, it's something we want to give people as an option. If they want to save time and ?just want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do t?hat," Itsuno stated. He then continued, "But on the other hand I don't feel you have to get all the moves. You should be able to play it the way you want to play it."

Not content to just let things end there, Itsuno then went on to discuss how the costs of moves in-game are calibrated to try and push people into some risk/reward style of thinking. For clarification with this quote, I'm almost certain he is talking about the Red Orb cost instead of real money ??value.

"It's interesting because from?? a game design point of view there's two different things we think about when we set the prices of the moves, skills, and abilities [which can be purchased with Red Orbs]. The first thing is the stuff that we feel people should want to get first is made cheaper. So people will think, 'Oh this is cheap so I'm just going to buy this.' But then for the stuff that's going to be harder to use and master, we make that more expensive. Partly because if you save up for that you're not going to be able to buy as many skills, so you're going to have the time to learn it. So you have to make the decision between going for the cheaper stuff or saving up, getting the thing that has a lot of application but you'll have to spend time learning and perfecting."

More surprising, to me, is that Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition also contained microtransactions. I never picked that up since I don't like the game, but has Capcom not learned anything over the past few years? People have become increasingly less tolerant of needless microtransactions and these same practices nearly sank the company around the time Street Fighter X Tekken came out. Why are we going back to them?

Whatever the reason may be, this?? is yet another "feat??ure" you can look forward to for Dante's big return.

No official announcement as to why

Fans of the Tales series are likely excited as hell about the upcoming Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition remaster. Widely considered as one of the best games in the series, it was also the first game in the series to be in HD and release on a Microsoft platform (which saw some crazy sales spikes for the Xbox 360 in Japan at the time). Sadly, not everything? about this re-release is good.

On Twitter yesterday, a fan had pointed out that it sounded like main character Yuri Lowell wasn't being voiced by his original English actor, Troy Baker, in Definitive Edition's newer scenes. While that could have been down to bad video compression or maybe just a placeholder actor w?hile the new dub was being recorded, the worst possible news has turned out to be true. Baker, himself, responded to the fan and confirmed he wasn't called back for any additional lines.

Why would something like this even happen, though? Well in Japan, Vesperia eventually saw a release on the PS3 and that included ??a whole slew of new content. Since the US never received this version, a dub wasn't recorded for any of the new scenes. Now that Bandai Namco is finally localizing the additional scenarios, it seems no one thought to call up Baker and have him revoice Yuri (or even replace his ?original work).

At the time of its original release (2008), Baker wasn't as prominent of an actor. He had certainly been in titles before Vesperia, but that game was the first time I and many others took notice of him. Since then, he has starred in such mega titles as BioShock Infinite and The Last of Us, as well as basically every other game in your ?library. Having him not return is a huge loss.

What really makes this odd is that the Tales series is one of Bandai Namco's biggest franchises. Maybe Baker commands a higher rate nowadays, but why would they? cut corners on what is always a high seller for them? It just seems like an overall crappy situation that could have easily been rectifie??d with a simple phone call.

$20 for a year of Nintendo Switch Online isn't the worst price around, but the value isn't really there. All of the features are years behind the competition and the selection of free titles is incredibly lackluster. I suppose the family plan option might make it more palatable for customers, but there seems to be a silver lining here that we didn't notice before. In the newly updated FAQ for Nintendo's online service (which is separate from the one I had used for my last article about Switch Online), it states that users can use My Nintendo Gold C?oins to pay for their subscriptions to Ninten?do's service.

For a lot of users, that could mean the service ends up being free. Surprisingly, you can use Gold Coins for discounts on eShop purchases, but I don't believe many people are even aware of that functionality. I could see a lot of people having a small stockpile of coins and being all set for this Tuesday when the service launches (provided their coins haven't expired, because of course, that is a thing).

As for me, I haven't really used my coins on anything. The Switch's digital storefront has fewer restrictions than past Nintendo consoles, but I'm still not entirely comfortable with the way Nintendo handles DRM. At least now, my coins can be put to some use, even if it is just to restore features I've pre??viously?? had for months now.

'Most Nintendo Switch Games' do

When we first got details about Nintendo's upcoming "Switch Online" service, one of the promises was cloud saving for "most Nintendo Switch games". While it may have been naive to assume that Nintendo ??was just being cheeky, I honestly didn't think the company would put limitations on which games users could backup data for. Turns out I'm just an idiot, though, as Nintendo has now finally confirmed that not every game will allow for cloud saves.

Earlier this morning, a user on ResetEra noticed that the official website for Splatoon 2's Starter Edition noted, "This game does not support Save Data Cloud backup". Going further, Ars Technica did a search for that exa?ct phrasing with a limit to Nintendo.com and pulled up a number of other games with the sa??me description.

After running the story earlier today, Nintendo of America issued a statement to Ars Technica. In that statement, Nintendo explained, "In certain games, this feature would make it possible to, for example, regain items that had been traded to other players, or revert to a higher online multiplayer ranking that had been lost." With specific regards to Splatoon 2, Nintendo said the feature? is absent, "to ensure that Save Data Cloud backups cannot be used to unfairly affect online mult??iplayer rankings."

What makes this truly ridiculous is that the original Wii gave users the ability to back-up their data. You could copy most e??verything to an SD Card in case of needing to do a system format. While some games didn't natively allow it, the Wii was?? cracked open so fast that even those weren't immune. With Switch hacking being so prevalent, Nintendo putting odd restrictions on its paid service is just going to push people to jailbreak their consoles.

I know we won't be able to reverse the decision, but I'm just in awe of how narrow sighted this really i??s.? If it wasn't enough that Nintendo's online infrastructure is still lacking, now we have to deal with yet another limitation. There better be something really special in store for Switch's online service, because it sounds just a bit worse now.

$34.99 a month for two years

Microsoft is set to introduce a subsidized contract plan for the Xbox One family of consoles. Similar to a plan the Xbox 360 had, signing up for this new Xbox One package will give users an Xbox One console alongside membersh?ips to Xbox Game Pass and Live Gold with a monthly fee. The Xbox One S will run you $22 a mont?h while the Xbox One X goes for $34.99 a month.

The bundle will be available at Microsoft retail stores, though Microsoft is working with different PC manufacturers to make it available elsewhere. The plan will launch in the US as a test before possibly moving to other territories. Afte??r the contract runs out,?? the console will be yours to do with as you see fit.

Oddly, even with the? upfront cost, this still works out to be slightly cheap??er than getting all the individual parts separately. I apologize for my terrible math skills. The total cost is actually around $1,070 for everything if you go for the S model. That is basically equal to buying everything individually and ad?ding an upfront cost. The only difference is that you get to spread the price out over time. Microsoft is likely bank??ing on people having the same math ability as me and being drawn in by the allure of a cheap Xbox One. As with any contract, though, you always make some concession to get the thing you want right then and there.

What do you know, Mi??crosoft didn't wet the bed this year which makes a nice welcome change to be honest. No, instead this year Microsoft seemed to take ??all the rightful criticism on board and showcased what we gamers really want to see: Games that we can play on our PC and PS4!

In all seriousness though, the sheer amount of games meant that selecting comments was a real struggle because I had to keep f?licking back? to the stream every ten seconds to make sure I hadn't missed something. As such, I have had to flick back through the comments section as I missed loads of comments last night.

?We all also managed to keep the snarkiness to a minimum...what has become of you all?

I don't know about you, but one of my favorite aspects of video games is their propensity to tell stories that are not only compelling but also historically accurate. What is the point of turning on my PlayStation 4 if not to experience the stories my grandpa would tell in hushed tones while visiting the salad bar at Ryan's Steakhouse? After two long years of waiting following the release of Battlefield 1, DICE and EA finally dropped a trailer for Battlefield V. The hype was palpable. The excitement was electric.?? But then something went wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong.

They put women in a video game.

Now, despite being a white male in my 30s who plays first-person shooters, I'm not technically a historian. However, what I do know is this: There were absolutely no women in World War II.

Anywhere.

Come to think of it, women didn't factor into any major historical movement at all. The Million Man March? Dudes only. Neil Armstrong, male astronaut, famously said it was one small step for mankind, not one small step for womankind. And women's suffrage? You guessed it -- bros passed these laws, not hoes. To put it bluntly, Battlefield V spits in the face of history and ??ruins what would otherwise be a 100% factual representati?on of Stephen Spielberg's World War II.

But never fear, fellow truth-seekers, because games still exist that are committed to giving us the true-to-life experiences we so desperately crave. These games honor the historical record upon which DICE so proudly squat down to pee on and would NEVER compromise the tenets of truth or pillars of posterity we hold so dear. Join us, if you will, in consideration of historically accurate games you can play instead of Battlefield V.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

No other game on the market achieves such a high representation of the epoch of man as Kingdom Come. From managing hunger levels and sleep cycles, to having to patch your wounds lest they fester and lead to your inevitable demise, and being able to go through an entire 50-hour adventure without having to see any black people, this game will definitely appeal to everyone who feels slighted by Battlefield V's baffling dec?ision to let women shoot digital bullets at one another.

Somebody at some point played ping pong and it looked a hell ??of a lot like this. This is how it's done, DIC??E.

Catechumen

Set during the reign of Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius in A.D. 171, you play as a Roman soldier and recent convert to Christianity who must rescue his mentor and brethren from the clutches of Satan. This game is based directly on events taken from the Bible, a book known for being 100% accurate from Let There Be Light to the somewhat somber Th-Th-Th That’s All Folks!

Super 3D Noah's Ark

Speaking of the truth of Word in the Bible, it says in Leviticus 4:20 that, "Thou shalt put to slumber the animals under thy dominion using thine thong." Since it was 1994 when this game came out, Sisqo hadn’t yet introduced the world to scandalous bathing apparel to somehow knock out goats on a boat, but the developers of Super 3D Noah’s Ark did the best imitation it could given the frankly primitive swi??mwear ?technology available to them.

Ultimate Muscle: Legends vs New Generation

Though women have recently invaded the entertainment sport of wrestling, there is still a strong tradition of wrestling video games featuring men. The Ultimate Muscle series, based on the legendary exploits of the Galactic Wrestling League, is as colorful and surreal as those tiny mathematicians that hail from the Land of the Rising Sun. Donning bright costumes with silly names like Pandaman and Kid Muscle, these wrestlers show just how nimble and spry the People of Bamboo can b?e. While lacking the raw strength, moral compass, and the Christian God that Western wrestlers have enjoyed, this game shows that even those who worship their ancestors as dragons can embrace the power of masculinity and overcome their bestial nature.

Final Fight

Not all wars are fought between countries and some battlefields are set in our backyards. Based on the Tim O'Brien short story Mad Gears in the City Clock, celebrated arcade brawler Final Fight is actually based on events O'Brien witnessed as a teenager growing up in Austin, Minnesota. The names were chan??ged for legal reasons but the details remained exactly as O'Brien witnessed them. From Haggar's belt strap in place of a shirt to a crying white woman with prodigious cleavage fully displayed while she begged to be rescued, it is a classic example of truth being stranger than fiction.

Cho Aniki: Seinaru Protein Densetsu

I'm gonna be honest with you here -- I don’t know what any of those words mean. What I do know is Cho Aniki: Sayonara Pre-Teen Dementia is a traditional Oriental story that follows Emperor ??Nagasaki and his brother, Toshi, in their quest to save Japan from the dreaded round-eye Bill in his conquest of strange Eastern lands. Lauded for its g?ameplay which most agree is the most accurate portrayal of ancient Japanese combat techniques, this game is the perfect way to forget about all those nasty women invading our American war games. Kimono? More like, kimoyes, please!

Jonny Moseley Mad Trix

If there's one thing white people love more than skiing, it's having very early-00s parties at ski resorts. Someone starts break-dancing next to a pool table while nearby a professional skier feels up a female fan eager for an autograph. Somehow managing to layer two different tops without sleeves is the epitome of #whitepeople. I'??ll eat my hat if you find anything more Caucasian than getting excited over the prospect of doing some mad trix on your skis in front of Danny Tanner's crib. All the while hoping to catch a glimpse of Stephanie's bodacious ta-ta's as you hit the pipe for some mad air. I haven't? actually played this game -- no one has -- but this intro video alone is the most realistic shit I've ever seen.

Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch: Make My Video

Painter of Light Thomas Kincaid once said of Mark Wahlberg, "There is Jesus. There is God. Then there is Marky Mark." Accompanied by his merry band of minstrels the Funky Bunch, Marky Mark made mass market mayhem materialize with such hits as "Good Vibrations" and "Your Mother! (How’s She Doing?)." With all things '90s back in vogue, it stands to reason that cultural artifacts such as this would once again be called upon to tell the tale. Part video editor and part homosexual softcore pornography, Make My Video allowed the player to create new versions of Marcusy Marcus' popular music videos using clips, all under the auspice of a pair of teen??ager??s discovering the burgeoning sexuality together.

Stand tall, fellow upholders of truth. One day, men will finally get the??ir due.

Select territories

From literally nowhere, Microsoft has released Miami Street as a free-to-play racer on Windows 10 devices. This new racer is not only compatible with PC, but on Windows Surface tablets as well. The general gameplay of Miami Street is more like a cinematic racer than a traditional Forza or Need for Speed and utilizes a lot of QTEs to pump up the action.

The game features the ever popular energy mechanic, where you'll have a limited amount of attempts at a race before you run out of energy and need to wait (or pay to resume). Your car will automatically steer itself, but you'l??l need to make strategic use of gas and break to get a boost and speed past your opponents. This i?s all facilitated either by your space bar and mouse or your touch screen, should you be on a tablet.

The game comes from developer Electric Square, which is a sister studio to Studio Gobo (known for For Honor's DLC and Disney Infinity). The game was soft launched on the Microsoft store, so it may not be ava??ilable in all territories. As a matter of fact, it isn't even available in the US, so I can't even giv?e it a shot.

Here is a five-minute gameplay trailer that looks positively devoid of life. I can understand wanting to try something a bit different, but I don't know how much life Miami Street has in it. At the very least, you can earn achievements for your Gamertag for fre??e. That is nice...

Now 100% less broken

From out of nowhere, Microsoft has put up a listing for ReCore Definitive Edition on its website. We kind of knew this was happening since March, but the lack of a formal announcement is surprising. If you're interested, you can now pre-order the all-in-one package for $19.99, which comes with the "Eye of Obsidian" adventure and a "T8-NK" Corebot frame (originally planned to be in the game). Along with the extra content, the game will also officially support HDR on compatible televisions and monitors, so it should look ex?tra pretty!

This "new" version will be launching on August 29 and will still feature cross-buy support if you go the digital route. I'm mainly surprised that the extra content for this game isn't coming as standalo?ne DLC for previous owners of the base game. While $20 isn't the worst price in the world, what was the point of buying the game early? I know that can be said of any re-release, bu?t usually DLC get released to expand the game if you just cannot wait.

It also doesn't help that ReCore was launched in a state that felt very incomplete. Releasing anything that has "Definitive" on the label after such a launch comes off like a slap in the face, especially since fans that put up with the crappy initial ??state of the game are getting boned.

Straight out of left field, Sony has announced that they are teaming up with writer/director Vince Gilligan to create a "Breaking Bad VR Experience" for PlayStation VR. While this will be available on PS4, it is decidedly a non-gaming experience. Sony Interactive Entertainment America Presid??ent Shawn Layden says this deal came about because of the shift of the PlayStation Group's HQ from Tokyo to California. "Having the epicenter of PlayStation closer to Hollywood and closer to where a?ll the online action is has been really beneficial," Layden states.

Even though this new "experience" isn't going to be a game, it is likely that whatever happens with this project will be rendered with 3D graphics instead of live action video. Sony's global chief executive, Andrew House, said, "I think this could be another interesting way to ??see how VR can drive towards the mainstream."

As for other projects along the lines of Breaking Bad VR, House said that Vince Gilligan was not the only creator that Sony has scouted. Purportedly writer/producer David Shore and Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore tinkered around with Sony's VR headset for a day. "They just played around with VR. Several of them were intrigued," claims House, "but? Vince was the one who said, 'I really want to do something with this. I w?ant to experiment with this."

I'm not quite sure what VR could bring to Breaking Bad that hasn't already been done on the show, but I guess fans looking for more of Heisenberg will be happy to know they? can get one step closer than just another episode.

What if they still made movie tie-in games?

I'll be the first to admit it, this story's a little strange. I'm pretty sure we've never posted anything from HalloweenCostumes.com before.

Movies and TV shows tend not to have full console releases anymore, as the tie-in games we see today seem to have shifted to mobile, where it's easier and faster to develop a title. So it's an interesting "what if" exerc??ise to think about what some game boxes might look like if the SNES were still the dominant console, still receiving licensed movie and television tie-in games. 

Some of these are better done than others, but one thing that particularly impressed me was the attention given to each fake SNES game's publisher. Interplay is a great choice for the Game of Thrones game, since that publisher was known for adapting story-heavy intellectual properties and TV shows like Star Trek. Similarly, it's logical that Capcom would've published the Deadpool ??game back in the '90s, even though Activision was actually publisher for the 2013 game. 

Furthermore, it makes perfect sense that Sony Pictures would have tapped Sony Imagesoft to promote its tie-in of the rebooted Ghostbusters.

And for better or worse, JVC was the publisher for the three Super Star Wars games that were released on the SNES, making this box for the upcoming Rogue One anachronistically accurate.

If the titles on display here piqued your interest, there are several more boxes at the HalloweenCostumes website, including Captain America: Civil War, Better Call Saul, and Suicide Squad. In all, 16 titles were boxified,?? one for each of the Super Nintendo's 16 bits.

New project from David OReilly

"In Everything, every single thing is a playable chara??cter; if you can see it, you can be it."

Come again?

"The game lets you see the entire universe from the point of view of the thousands of things in it. In other words, there is no distinction between you and the world, or between a level and a character. All these things experience and interact with the world differently."

This is an upcoming PlayStation 4 title from David OReilly (The External World) and Damien DiFede, who previously collaborated on the "ambient procedural mountain simulator" Mountain.

"If you ever wanted to see what it's like to be a horse, or a paperclip, or the sun, this is for you," says OReilly. "Your main power in the game is Being (??there are more but I won't ruin the surprise)."

The trailer and screenshots aren't especially informative, but this specific line -- "we developed an entirely new way to create and design levels, which treat objects more like ecosystems, and slightly closer to how they would be in nature" -- has me interested. In general, it sounds more enjoyable to play than Mountain while still retaining some of the same installation-?art??work vibes.

Rocket League is inescapable. Everywhere I look, people are praising the game, a fusion of soccer and cars, for being accessible, rewarding, and endlessly entertaining. I have resisted. I'm not much of a gearhead, and the closest I've come to liking soccer was Shaolin Soccer. That ends today.

I've seen a lot of disturbing Sonic the Hedgehog con??tent online, but this one is probably my favorite. A boy dressed as Sonic wanders around his town looking for adventure until he spots a very Dr. Robotnik-looking fellow with an animal trapped in a cage. The boy's curiosity gets the ??best of him and he must investigate. 

Be warned, The Hedgehog isn't a feel-good film and has some disturbing content. I'm still not sure what the story or message is, but I know I enjoyed it.&??nbsp;

Pre-orders for the GameStop exclusive Ness amiibo went up last week, and it wa?s pretty much a? disaster. GameStop.com ended up being taken ??offline as a result, and in-store orders took upwards of two hours in some locations due to the store's servers being completely overwhelmed. Even fans waiting second or third in line for the toy might have been shut out, as GameStop's pre-orders weren't organized by a store-specific allocation, and instead were divvied from a chain-wide pool. If some jerk in Tuscaloosa decided to pre-order ten Ness figures in his store, then that was ten fewer Nesses for everyone else in the country. 

Sadly, long time fans of EarthBound are used to the feeling having a door closed in their faces. From Nintendo's decision to keep Mother 3 locked to Japan, to continued reluctance to release one of the ?many ports of the games to the United States, fans of EarthBound who live anywhere othe??r than Japan have had to grow accustomed to not gettin??g what they want.

The most recent case of EarthBound neglect comes from Club Nintendo. The game was initially one of the many titles made available to as part of the service's mega "going out of business" sale, alongside other SNES classics like Super Metroid and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Now the rewards page for the ??game reads "This item is unavailable. Sorry!" That kind of "sold out!" message is usually reserved for physical Club Nintendo rewards, which would often disappear in a few days, but this is a download we're talking about. It's hard to understand why Nintendo blocks us from access to a endlessly replenishable digital produ?ct. 

Maybe this is just another Club Nintendo glitch? Given how unstable the site is, I wouldn't be surprised. Sadly, I think it's possible that this move was intentional. Maybe Nintendo of America is planning on releasing the EarthBound Zero/EarthBound/Mother 3 compilation on the Wii U and/or 3DS and it doesn't want too many people to download the game for "free" before it releases the games for sale in a new form? That's probably the only way fans might excuse this latest bout of anti-EarthBound antics from Nintendo at large. We'll ask Nintendo for comment ??on the situation when worke?rs get back to the office on Monday.

In its divine wisdom, Screen Gems has decided that it's not enough to give the world yet another Resident Evil movie by Paul W.S. Anderson, but that we would all be better off with a title that captures the true dynamic essence of a fifth entry in a quality series: Re5ident Evil: Retribution.

According to an interview on Collider.com, the new film will feature Las Plagas because that way the infected can "run around, ride motorbikes, and shoot machine guns." Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Barry Burton will make an appearance due to popular request, and they are lifting some driving/turret sequence out of Resident Evil 5.

Expect more 3D metal objects to fly into your face on September 14, 2012, and che??ck out ??the plot synopsis below if you dare.
