Pixel Reef has announced that its gorgeous virtual reality adventure Paper Beast will arrive on PC via Steam next week, following on from its launch on PS4 earlier this ye??a??r.

Created by Eric Chahi of Another World fame, Paper Beast is an exploratory experience set within a strange alternate universe, populated by well-known wildlife styled in origami fashion. Utilising immersive VR, players can explore the strange landscape, solving puzzles and interacting with the fold-filled inhabitants. Alternately, players can create their own world via Paper Beast's deep sandbox editor.

Paper Beast for PC will support HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Valve Index VR headsets. You can check out the title's calming atmosphere - something we could probably all use right now - in a new trailer below. Paper Beast launche?s on PC July 24, ?and is available right now on PS4.

Looks like paper's back on the menu, boys

The peculiar PlayStation VR game Paper Beast is launching on Steam later this summer, and if you're into the idea of studying fantastic wildlife in a strange land that you can physically reshape, you're gonna want to check it out. It's the imaginative work of Pixel Reef and Another World creator Eric Chahi.

At a glance, this might look like a sandbox-style god game about a surreal? ecosys??tem – it can be, if that's all you're after – but there's a main puzzle-solving adventure mode, too. You'll need to figure out what makes these creatures tick and how they can inadvertently help you. It's an exploration game.

The PC VR version of Paper Beast will have a few advancements over the original PSVR edition. Oculus Rift, Vive, and Valve Index players are getting "continuous move support, upgraded visuals, gameplay tweaks, an expanded sandbox mode," and more?? animals, plants, and items, according to the developers.

"The initial reaction to the PlayStation 4 version by both the fans and the critics was beyond what we could have imagine," said Eric Chahi. Did anyone else play From Dust? I'm glad to see him back at it.

Pixel Reef is also planning to release a demo of Paper Beast as part of Steam Game Fest: Summer Edition, a digital event ??with playab?le builds of upcoming games. It's running from June 16–22, 2020.

Another world to explore from Eric Chahi

Eric Chahi, the creator of Another World, is coming out with an ecosystem simulation game about origami creatures for PlayStation VR. Paper Beast has a story mode – you can alter the terrain and weather, not unlike a god game, to solve pu??zzles – and a sandbox ??mode. It's the best of both worlds.

You might've heard that name before and wondered whatever happened to this game. Paper Beast is st??ill happening, and as we learned tod??ay, it's releasing soon – it's out for PS4 on March 24, 2020.

"The player-explorers in Paper Beast can interact with every creature they discover on their journey," according to developer Pixel Reef. "Powered by an extensive physics engine that ??calculates the creatures' motions in real-time, the??y can be lifted up to resolve situations or to rescue them from predators and natural danger. The animals will adapt their behavior accordingly. The player is also able to manipulate the terrain to overcome obstacles or resolve environmental puzzles."

Paper Beast doesn't have the biggest Ve??nn diagram, I'll admit, but it looks like it'll click with a particular audience. It's a niche within a niche ?from a legendary game creator, and that's just cool. I'm glad someone's out there making neat PSVR experiences that aren't ports of high-end PC VR titles.

This strikes me as one of those games where I want to know as little as possible going in. Discov??ering how the creatures, plants, world conditions, and other factors intersect seems like the main hook.

As someone who spent a ton of time with Birthdays the Beginning, I'm feeling this concept.

Unfold the mysteries in PSVR

During last December's stacked State of Play presentation, Sony dropped a trailer for a strange and esoteric-looking VR title, Paper Beast. Now developer Pixel Reef is peeling back the l?ayers on this stylistic release, with a new trailer showcasing a sandbox mode.

Paper Beast's sandbox mode is essentially a world-builder, and will give players the chance to create and cultivate their own environments. Design the landscape and terrain layout, then populate it with Paper Beast's weird, origami-style creatures. Ot??her factors can be manipulated - such as weather, light, and plant life - and all within an immersive VR environment.

Created by Eric Chahi of Another World fame, Paper Beast takes place in a completely fan??tastical universe, where the refuse of big data, forgotten code and waste?d algorithms are taking form as an entirely new eco-system. It certainly looks like an odd place to visit, but given the possible tranquility of its strange-but-quiet plains, it could turn out to be a trip worth taking.

At this morning's State of Play presentation, Sony revealed a new trailer for Pixel Reef's esoteric looking VR title, Paper Beast, that features folded creatu??res, much like the ones created in origami art, existing within a huge ?sandbox world.
