I wish I were better at this game

We're a week away from The Frozen Wilds, Guerrilla Games' first and only expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn. Previous trailers have been fairly reserved, opting to focus on the snowy new scenery, but today's video out of Paris Games Week is all ab??out that action, baby. It'll be nice to revisit t??his world.

Two quick thoughts. Actually, three! First, I would've loved to have all these ferocious machines as toys as a kid. (I was big into Beast Wars back then.) Second, for all the spectacle here, the sound design really stands out to me in this trailer. And third, it's hard to believe Horizon came out this year. It's been such a stacked year in gaming from beginning to end that my mind just can't k??eep up with it all.

Not a yes, but also not a no

Earlier today, DrinkBox Studios revealed Guacamelee 2 during PlayStation's Paris Games Week showcase. It's a feel-good announcement because Guacamelee is one ?of those rare ga?mes that most everyone who played it has some sort of affection for. A sequel is equal parts exciting and not-surprising.

However, because Guacamelee 2 was announced at PlayStation's event, there's an implication of sorts that it'll be PlayStation-exclusive to some extent. So will it be? Uhhh, probably not but maybe! But unlikely! But who knows.

We put this question in front of DrinkBox, and co-founder Graham Smith gave us an expected answer that we'll leave here for posterity's sake. "We're currently completely focused on the PS4/PS4 Pro versions of Guacamelee 2,&nbs??p;and aren't announcing any other?? platforms at this time," Graham said.

That sounds an awful lot like indication that it'll make its way outside the PlayStation family of devices. Guacamelee 2 could very well be a timed-exclusive for PS4, though. Or, Sony might just control the conversation around the announce window. Again, who knows. These types of details usually don't trickle out for a while. It is maybe worth noting that the first Guacamelee released on PS3 and Vita in 2013; it came?? to Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U approximately 15 months lat??er in 2014.

Anyway, DrinkBox also sent along these two exclusive screenshots to share. They're scenes that you'll be able to see for yourself in Guacamelee 2 on PS4 and possibly other places too.

Snuff film

I wasn't quite sure what we were witnessing when the teaser for The Last of Us Part II came on. I just saw a lad?y getting lynched and another getting beaten with a hammer. It was ridiculously v?iolent and a little hard to look at. I'm not normally squeamish, but this might just push me over the edge.

Eventually some heroes came in to save these characters from getting brutalized with some more violence. The world that Naughty Dog has built for The Last of Us is very oppressing and it looks like the sequel w??on't let up on that.

There still isn't any gameplay to look at, but I think its safe to assume this will follow in the footsteps of the original.?? At least we know the violence is getting ratcheted up.

High speed hypercolour mayhem

Sony have released an action-packed, tyre-ripping trailer for off-road racer Onrush, coming to the PS4 in the Summer of 2018, coming from MotorStorm's ??former developer ??Evolution Studios (now a part of Codemasters).

The quick-cut preview features a bevy of all-terrain racing vehicles and dirtbikes jocke??ying for position on a series of chaotic, off-road courses. We don't know much else, but the?re's a whole lotta flippin' going on.

Onrush accelerates onto PS4 next summer.

We hunted down this new trailer for you too

Monster Hunter World is shaping up to make a monster splash when it releases early next year. It's a mainline Monster Hunter game, sure, but i??t's the first to come to consoles in a long time and the first ever to hit PC.

Sony has a neat little piece of exclusive content that might sway some players to pick it up on PlayStation 4. Monster Hunter World will have Aloy, the protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn, as?? a playable character on PS4 ver?sions. She's used to taking down robotic monsters, but carbon-based ones probably won't be too much of a stretch.

Fings are abaaat taget complikated

Sony's Paris Games press conference has being pretty heavy on the VR announcem??ents, showing that Sony clearly has a lot of support lined up ??????????????????????????for the PSVR unit come 2018.

If ever you wanted to be 007, but with a Guy Ritchie twist, then the upcoming Blood & Truth might be just for you. The PSVR title puts you in the role of a super cool hitman-gangster-problem solver type, using your very specific set of skills to take down London's criminal underworld. It is developed by Sony London, who were responsible for PS2 how's-yer-father The Getaway.

Sony also s??creened a compendium trailer, seen below, which captured moments from many of the PSVR's upcoming titles, all just rearing to make your head spin in the near future.

The return self-exploding, pad-throwing nightmares

At the very end for the pre-show for Sony's Paris press conference, a trailer was unveiled for Spelunky 2?, the sequel to Mossmou??th's highly addictive puzzle-platformer.

Though no in-game footage was sh?own, we got a trailer that seems to show that the famous whip, hat and large red nose will be passed down to the next treas??ure hunter in the family lineage. Let them deal with those frikkin' giant spiders and that angry shopkeeper.

Mossmouth's Derek Yu has since confirmed via Twitter that Spelunky 2 wi??ll launch on PS4 first, then is planned for a PC release thereafter.

New trailer time!

At E3, we learned about Star Child. It's a sci-fi sidescrolling action g??ame for P??layStation VR, and it looks pretty neat.

Now, four months later, we hear from Star Child again. Or, rather, we see it again. Developer Playful released this new cinematic trailer at Paris Games Week. Hey, it still looks pretty ne??at!

Light on news, heavy on reassur?ance that this is somet?hing I want to play.

Coming to PS4 next year

One of the first games revealed at PlayStation's Paris Games Week showcase was The Hong Kong Massacre. As of right now, it's just as mysterious a??s i??t sounds.

All we really know is that this is coming to PS4 in 2018, and that it's some sort of a top-down twin-stick shooter. The commentary booth compared it to both Max Payne and Hotline Miami in terms of style.

Seven new games!

Sony is hosting a conference at this year's Paris Games Week. While this normally wouldn't be a big deal, apparently Sony is gearing up to announce seven new games for the PS4! What the hell? Seven more?! 2018 is already going to be jam packed with?? exclusives and big games; what more could there be?
