While the story eventually normalizes with both groups, you have somewhat of a difficult decision at the start of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Do you go with the Persona 3 crew, or the gang from Persona 4?

I know a few people who agonized over the situation, but for me it was simple -- Persona 4. While I think that P3 is technically a deeper game, the setup is more interesting, and the gloomier tone melds more with the SMT universe, I can't resist the cast of P4. 

Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Teddie, Rise -- the Investigation Team is classic at this point and I couldn't give them up. On the flipside, while they do fit the more lighthearted tone of Shadow better, it's really interesting seeing the cast of P3 with the new animation style, interacting with the new characters and the entire cast. It's pretty much a Persona fan's dream.

Persona Q, the chibi 3DS amalgam of Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters, has a North American release date: November 25. The opening is still amazing. The premium edition is pretty nice, too. Shadow of the Labyrinth has won me over since its announcement -- or maybe it's just the dearth of Persona -- so I'm pretty ready.

No word on which character she'll be voicing just yet

Our old friend Ashly Burch is lending her vocal talents to Atlus USA's localization of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Congrats, Ash!

The Hey Ash Whatcha Playin'? co-creator has voiced characters in several titles in recent years, most notably in Borderlands 2 as teenage explosives expert Tiny Tina. While Burch hasn't revealed her role in Persona Q, there's some speculation it will be Rei.

Unlike the majority of Persona Q's cast, Rei is a new face. She's a mysterious blonde amnesiac who th??e Investigation Team and SEES kids discover in the eponymous labyrinth. Rei's often seen eating treats like corndogs and donuts, which she apparently pulls out of thin air.

Persona Q is slated to ?launch in North America and Europe this November for Nintendo?? 3DS.

I would never let you forget that Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is coming to 3DS later this year. I'll tie today's reminder to the announcement of a premium edi?tion release for the title in North America. For $79.99 you'll get the The Wild Cards Premium Edition, which includes:

• Special packaging
• Tarot Card Set #2
• an art booklet
• a soundtrack CD
• a deluxe hard case for 3DS XL -- previously only available in Japan

And $49.99 ge??ts you the normal retail release, but the first run printing comes with the same tar??ot card set and special packaging.

Atlus would like to stress that these versions are only available in limited quantities. You should pre-order now.  They advise getting orders?? in by mid-July to be safe.

Celebrate with some trailers!

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth may be launching in Japan later this wee?k, but it'll still be a few ?more months until the Nintendo 3DS RPG arrives on western shores.

While you're waiting, I know a way you ?can kill a good four minutes or so. Atlus has released the title's final f?our character trailers, which spotlight Velvet Room denizens Elizabeth, Margaret, Theodore, and Marie. So watch those and keep on sitting tight.

Atlus has shared new trailers for upcoming 3DS game Persona Q, just days before its Japanese release. 

We all love the school side of Persona games, right? The above ?video shows off school life and lets us hear the obligatory laid back school life music. It looks and sounds so good! 

Below you'll find a good look at the map system for Persona Q. It's a quick overview of how the Etrian Odyssey-style auto-mapping works, set to ?another awesome tune.&??nbsp;

Finally, there's a quick look at the F.O.E.s (read: big ass sub-bosses) that you'll find in the labyrinths. I bet t?he encounter shown ends badly.

First off, how cute are the Velvet Room girls in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth? Especia??lly Marga??ret! Oh, and that Velvet Room theme song remix is fun.

Atlus Japan released a nice, long trailer for Persona Q today. It shows off lots of new footage of cutscenes first, and then moves onto game systems. You'll see overviews of the party system, the mapping system (this game does use Etrian Odyssey's engine, after all), the battle system, the boosting system, difficulty settings and so much more. There are plenty of funny bits tucked in as well. I love that Etrian Odyssey style F.O.E. are in these dungeons, too.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth and it's autumn release are still a ways off, which means there's still plenty of time to do things li??ke watch gameplay trailers. And as luck would have it, Atlus ha??s shared some  tantalizing footage of the dungeon crawler's old-school battle system.

Confirmed for North America

I screamed. I screamed loudly. It's not like we didn't know that 3DS RPG Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth was coming eventually. But to finally know that it's in the works and will be in stores this Fall is exciting. Thrilling.  As I said last week, I'm a??lready in love with this game. Now I'm having an All-Out Attack on my computer keyboard.

Persona Q takes characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 and throws them into an Etrian Odyssey-ish world for a mash-up that would stop?? the heart of any Atlus fan. The pairings, people! The pairings!

The whole gang has been ??thrown into an alternate world where they're still at school, and they're still out to solve a mystery. Two new characters, Rei and Zen, are likely linked to this the mystery the two teams are out to solve. 

Again, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is scheduled for release in North America sometime in Fall? 2014.

And Yukari has a little cherub bow!

While we were beary excited to bring you Teddie and Aigis' Persona Q trailers last week, we totally whiffed on Junpei and Yukari. We've got to show Persona 3 some love. I'm more excited for both of their entrances into Persona 4 Arena, but seein??g Junpei get slapp?ed and Yukari's cute little cherub bow (below) is nice.

The wait is unbearable

Is Aigis not doing the stilted robotic voice because of where Persona Q falls in the timeline, o??r did the Japanese voice actor never do it? Because that was a bothersome element to Aigis' character for me. Not as annoying as Fuuka, but, still.

It's hard -- perhaps impossible -- to live up to Mitsuru-senpai's trailer, but Aigis and Teddy give it their bes?t, with the latter hamming it up below.

Japanese Teddy still creeps me out.

Meaty mash up

It's a good day when I can just sit and write several articles about Persona. The last bit of the lengthy interview with Katsura Hashino, following talk on Persona 5, Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, centered on the chibi P3/P4 mash up Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth.

After starting on collaborative works Dancing All Night and Persona 4 Arena with outside developers, the team thought "doing one within the company itself would be neat in a sort of oblique way," Hashino explains. "We'd like to hope that by bringing Persona and Etrian Odyssey together, the ensuing chemistry betw?een the two series will result in something ?that fans find to be really immersive." A fitting union to celebrate Atlus' 25th anniversary. 

Hashino also said that, "if you play both the Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters' respective stories to completion, it'll be like playing two whole RPGs altoget??her." Sounds hefty as heck. I'm sure Dale will be up for it.

Atlus-developed dungeon crawler coming to Nintendo handhelds

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is heading to Nintendo 3DS, Atlus has announced.

The dungeon crawler features chibi versions of the protagonists from Persona 3 and Persona 4 in a spin-off adventure akin to Etrian Odyssey. Players are given a choice between which set of demon-summoning s??choolkids to follow, which will have impacts on dialogue and how the story unfolds.
