Once you’ve starte??d building up a sel??ection of strong Pokémon in Pokémon GO, what better way to test their capabilities than the Pokémon GO Battle League?

This PVP arena allows players to take on other players using their best and most pumped-up Pokémon. There are three different Leagues to take part in, each of whic??h is suited for Pokémon of a certain strength:

  • Great League

    • Pokémon with a CP of 1,500 or lower

  • Ultra League

    • Pokémon with a CP of 2,500 or lower

  • Master League

    • No maximum CP

It’s always a good idea to figure out which Pokémon are suited to which GO Battle League, enabling you to build the strongest possible teams. That’s where tier lists come in. ??There’s a tier list for each of the three Leagues.

If you’re excited about Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Global, then you’ll be happy to know that the wait is almost over, and in t?he meantime, we have the Road to Unova event to keep us occupied.

The Road to Unova event will last from February 24 to March 1, leading directly into the main Unova Global event. It’s a free event for all to take part in, but there are?? also paid tickets that can get you some nice bonuses.

As with all events, there are some featured Pokémon, worthwhile bonuses, a?nd some raid b??osses to take on. Here’s everything you need to know.

Darumaka and Darmanitan in Pokémon GO

During the Road to Unova event, two new Dy?namax-capable Pokémon will be available to catch in th??e form of Darumaka and its evolution Darmanitan. Both will also be available as a Shiny version, if you get lucky enough to find one.

On top of that, the three Generation 5 starter Pokémon will see increased spawn rates in the wild, with Shiny versions available for their basic forms. Second-stage evolutions of these three starters may also appear in the wild, especially if you use Incense or Lure Modules, but you won’t be a?ble to find a Shiny of these evolutions in the wild.

Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott in Pokémon GO

Here are the three starters and their evolutions?? that will show up m??ore often in the wild during the Road to Unova event:

  • Snivy
  • Servine
  • Tepig
  • Pignite
  • Oshawott
  • Dewott

If you obtain any 2 km Eggs during the event, it’s a good idea to hatch them as soon as possible, benefitting from the halved hatching distance bonus. If you do, you’ll likely get one of the following Po??kémon from a 2 km Egg:

  • Roggenrola
  • Timburr
  • Karrablast
  • Shelmet
  • Larvesta

Road to Unova Raid Bosses

Reshiram and Zekrom in Pokémon GO

During the event, the Tier 1 and Tier 3 Raid Bo??sses will always be the same, featuring the three Unova starters once again in Tier 1 and Druddigon in Tier 3??.

However, the Tier 5 Raid Bosses will change each day, so it’s a good idea to learn the schedule lest you miss out on some strong Legendary Pokémon. You’ll particularly want to get involved on and after February 27, when Reshira?m and Zekrom will appear. You’ll need both of them in abundance if you want to get Black and White Kyurem, so diving into their Raids is well worth it.

Each of the caught Legendary Pokémon will also have exclusive a??ttacks that wouldn’t regularly be part of their lineup.

Here’s the full schedule of Raids for the event, which Pokémon will show up ??each day, and any exclusive attacks they can hav??e:

No Pokémon GO event would be complete with??out a handful of perks and bonuses designed to make players want to dive in and start catching Pokémon. The Unova Global event is no different, and there are several bonuses worth noting.

This event is absolutely crammed with new Pokémon to catch, Research Tasks to work through, Raids to battle through, and of course the ever-important addition of Black and Whit?e Kyurem. You’re definitely going to be busy during and after the two-day Unova Global event, but what are the perks of playing during those two days?

During the two day ev?ent on March 1 and 2, players everywhere will be able to benefit from the following bonuses and features:

  • Egg hatch distance halved
  • 50% trading discount
  • Six Special Trades allowed per day
  • Unova-region Pokémon spawn rate increases
  • Themed Pokémon in Eggs
  • Themed Pokémon in Raid Battles
  • Exclusive attacks available
  • Themed Field Research

On top of that, players will have another chance to obtain a Kyurem?? that knows the special Charged Attack Glaciate. This attack was only ?previously available either during the Holiday 2022 event, or if you used a TM to teach the attack.

Duri?ng the Unova Global event, players will be able to select between one of two paths of a Special Research task, which they can then complete to unlock rewards and perks specific to that path:

Black Version (Reshiram) White Version (Zekrom)
Reshiram-themed Special Research rewards Zekrom-themed Special Research rewards
All Kyurem obtained from Black Kyurem raids will know Glaciate All Kyurem obtained from White Kyurem raids will known Glaciate

This is important because fusing a Kyurem that knows this ??attack with either Reshiram or Zekrom will result in the White or Black Kyurem knowing an exclusive attack.

For more information on Black and White Kyurem, check out our dedicated guide to obtai??ning either (or both) of them.

As part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Global, Black and White Kyurem are available to battle and obtain for the first time in the mobile game’s history. Both are strong in their own ways, and it’s worth gett??ing both, but which one should you go for first?

There are pros and cons to both Black and White Kyurem, and it honestly comes down to personal choice, depending on your playstyle and preferences. Getting even one of them means putting in a lot of effort, so you need to make the ??choice whic??h comes first?

With that in mind, let's take a look at Black Kyurem and W?hite Kyurem in a little more detail.

Black Kyurem attacks and stats

Black Kyurem in Pokémon GO

Black Kyurem is a Dragon- and Ice-type Pokémon, and one of the best picks for taking on the Master League. It has both Shadow Claw and Dragon Tail available as fast attacks, and, provided that you use a Kyurem that knows Glaciate when fusing, your resulting Black Kyurem will have acces?s to Freeze Shock as a Charged Attack.

That’s one hell of a move set, and it can e?asily put out some of the highest DPS of any Pokémon. Even outside of those major attacks, Black Kyurem can also learn Outrage, something that White Kyurem can’t do. But that doesn’t mean anything without good base ??stats.

Thankfully, Blac??k Kyurem also boasts some ?pretty impressive base stats:

  • Attack: 310
  • Defense: 183
  • Stamina: 245
  • Max CP: 5,206

White Kyurem attacks and stats

White Kyurem in Pokémon GO

Although Black Kyurem is capable of outputting higher DPS in general, White Kyurem is without a doubt the best Ice-type attacker currently in Pokémon GO. Although it does have the ability to use Dragon-type moves, it’s worth focusing on Ice-type moves like Ice Fang and, if the Kyurem you used ??to fuse knew Glaciate, Ice Burn.&n??bsp;

If you don’t have a Kyurem that knows Glaciate, White Kyurem is still a strong Ice-type attacker thanks to Blizzard, which i?s much weaker than Ice Burn but still strong enough against Pokémon weak against Ice-type attacks.

White Kyurem also has the Fire-type Fusion Flare as a Fast Move, and although White Kyurem lacks STAB, the move is sti??ll extremely powerful against Steel-type Pokémon in a pinch.

This Ice-type behemoth boas??ts the same sta??ts as Black Kyurem:

  • Attack: 310
  • Defense: 183
  • Stamina: 245
  • Max CP: 5,206

Should you get Black Kyurem or White Kyurem?

Black and White Kyurem in Pokémon GO

It’s a tough decision to make, right? Even if you eventually end up with both of them, you're alwa?ys going to have to choose which one to get first. With two badass Pokémon to choose from, it can seem like ??an impossible choice. However, it all pretty much boils down to one important difference.

Black Kyurem is by far the strongest overall physical attacker, putting out a huge amount of DPS pretty much constantly. White Kyurem, on the other hand, ??focuses more on special attacks that do a huge amount of damage when used, but the overall DPS suffers due to weaker Fast Moves.

Black Kyurem is preferred for taking on Raid Bosses that are weak to both Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, but White Kyur??em performs better against those who are weak to either Ice-type attacks, as well as any Flying-type Pokémon you’re likely to encounter.

There are more bosses weak to just Ice-type attacks than those who are weak to both Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, so you?? need to decide if you want raw power or you're? willing to forfeit overall DPS for strong Charged Attacks.

The Pokémon GO?? Tour: Unova Global event is set to start on March 1, lasting for 48 hours. While the event itself is filled with new features and Pokémon to encounter, it also heralds the arrival of some long-awaited legendary Pokémon.

Kyurem was first introduced to the Pokédex in Generation V alongside two other Legendary Pokémon, Reshiram and Zekrom. It’s already possible to get Kyurem in its basic (unfused) form in Pokémon GO, but the two Black and White forms are set to make their debut during the Pokémon GO Tour?: Unova events in New Tapei City and Los Angeles on February 21, later being released to players aro?und the world during the Global event on March 1.

How to get Black and White Kyurem

Black and White Kyurem in Pokémon GO

From the beginning of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Global event on March 1, players everywhere will begin to encounter either Black or White Kyurem in 5-star raids. Sadly, defeating these two Legendaries wi??ll not be enough to bag you an encounter to catch one, but you are guaranteed an encounter with an unfused Kyurem if you get through the raid.

Us?ing this unfused Kyurem, you’ll be able to use DNA Splicers to fuse Kyurem with either Zekrom or Reshiram, ending up with a Black or White Kyurem, respectively.

Shiny versions of both Black and White Kyurem will also immediately be available from the start of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Global event, bu?t getting your hands on one of those is purely down to luck.

How to fuse Kyurem

Reshiram and Zekrom in Pokémon GO

Fusion is not a new mechanic in Pokémon GO. It’s been used previously with Necrozma, fusing it with either Solgaleo or Lunala to get Dusk or Dawn Wings Necrozma. If you’ve already done that, then you’ll have a good ??idea of how this will work for Ky??urem. If not, then here’s a breakdown.

To create a Black or White?? Kyurem, you’ll need the following:

Fused Pokémon Fused with Cost
Black Kyurem Zekrom 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy
30 Kyurem Candy
30 Zekrom Candy
White Kyurem Reshiram 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy
30 Kyurem Candy
30 Reshiram Candy

How to get Fusion Energy

Every time you encounter and defeat a Black or White Zekrom in a 5-star raid, you’ll earn yourself some Fusion Energy specific to the form. Black Ky?rum will reward Volt Fusion Energy, while White Kyurem will reward Blaze Fusion Energy.

Stocking up the necessary 1,000 of each type is likely to tak??e a fair amount of time and lots of successfully completed raids, but it’s def?initely worth it for Black and White Kyurem.

How to get Kyurem Candy

Kyurem Candy and Kyurem Candy XL in Pokémon GO

Even when you do manage to hoard away the 1,000 Fusion Energy needed for each fusion, there is still the issue of Candy. Kyurem, like all other Legendary Pokémon, will only pick up one Candy per 20km walked. As you need 30 for each fusion, that’s a total of 600km or triple that if you also n?eed to collect Zekrom or Reshiram Candy as well. That’s a lot of walking, even for the most outdoorsy type.

With that said, you can use Rare Candy that you’ve hoarded away instead of specific Po?kémon Candy, making this process much easie??r. Rare Candy is rewarded for Research Tasks through the GO Battle League and for completing Raids.

Black and White Kyurem attacks learned by fusing

If you happen to have a Kyurem obtained from a 5-star raid during the Holiday 2022 event, t?h?en it will have an event-specific Charged Attack called Glaciate. If a Kyurem with this Charged Attack is fused, this attack will transform into one of two attacks exclusive to Black or White Kyurem:

  • Black Kyurem’s Freeze Shock
  • White Kyurem’s Ice Burn

If you don't have a Kyurem from the Holiday 2022 event, don't worry; there is still a way to get a Kyurem that knows Glaciate. When the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Global event begins on March 1, all players will gain access to the "It's Not O??ver Yet" Special Research story.

You'll have a choice between a Zekrom path or a Reshiram path. If you go for Zekrom, any Kyurem obtained after defeating a ?Black Kyurem will know Glaciate. If you select Reshiram, you'll need to defeat White Kyurem in raids to get a Kyurem with the Glaciate attack.

Completing this Masterwork Research will guarantee an encounter with the never-before-seen shiny Pokémon.

On the plus side, Masterwork Research does not expire, so you’ll be able to purchase the ticket and then complete the tasks in your own?? time without having to rush through it during the event.

Pokémon GO is ripe with Pokémon waiting to be caught, and perhaps none are more sought after than the Legendaries. These incredibly rare beas??ts are hard to find and even harder to capture, but that’s what makes players want them so badly. Right?

While Legendary Pokémon can’t be put into Gyms in Pokémon GO (understandable, they’re quite overpowered), they’re all absolute must-haves for collectors and have been since the first Pokémon game was released in 1996.

Here’s your guide to tracking down the Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO and everything you need to know so?? that you c??an catch them.

How to catch Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO

The Lake Guardian Trio in Pokémon GO

If you’re just starting with your Legendary Pokémon collection, the ideal first targets are the Galarian forms of the Legendary Birds (Articuno, Za?pdos, and Moltres). These three Pokémon are always available to find i??n the wild, but only after using your Daily Adventure Incense.

Sadly, they have a high flee rate and are damn near impossible to catch. As with all Le??gendary Pokémon, it’s a good idea to focus on landing Excellent Throws and Curve Balls while using any Premier Balls you happen to have to increase your catch potential.

Outside of those three, the Lake Guardian Trio (Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf) can ?appear in the? wild at any time. However, which one you’ll be able to find depends on where you live in the world, as each of them is region-locked:

  • Uxie - Asia-Pacific region
  • Mesprit - Europe, Middle East, Africa, India
  • Azelf - North America, South America, Greenland

If you’r??e hunting for the other Legendaries, there are a few different ways to go?? about finding them.

Raid Battles

Your best bet to get a Legendary in Pokémon GO is through 5-star Raid Battles, which take place regularly at Gyms. These are tough battles, and y??ou’ll need to team up with at least four or give other train?ers if you want to stand a chance of winning.

If you do beat a Legendary, you’ll be rewarded with a few Premier Balls that can then be used to catch the beast. However, the catch rate for Legendaries is abysmally low (2%, as a general rule), so there’s a high likelihood that? you won’t catch the Pokémon even if you do win the battle.

The Legendary Pokémon available to fight and catch in Raid Battles ?change regularly, so there’s always a chance to try again ??for a Pokémon that escaped your capture previously.

Timed Research

It’s always worth keeping a??n eye on Timed Research during events because Legendary Pokémon sometimes feature as rewards. This is by no means guaranteed and hard to predict, but it’s something to look out for wit??h every event.

GO Battle League

Once you rea??ch Rank 20 of the GO Battle League, any Legendary Pokémon that are currently available from Raid Battles will be added to the pool of possible rewards. This is a bit hit-and-miss, but worth striving for.

Defeat Giovanni

Taking on Giovanni is possibly the best way to get some Legendary Pokémon, at least in Shadow form. Once you’ve defeated the Team GO Rocket boss, you’ll have a Shadow Legendary encounter with a 100% catch?? rate.

Pokémon Sleep f?eatures a quirky way to catch Pokémon, and it all revolves around tw??o things: how well you sleep (which means I’ve never done particularly well) and your ability to boost Snorlax’s Drowsy Power.

Every week, a fresh new Snorlax will appear, giving you the chance to boost its Drowsy Power with recipes that can be cooked up and fed to it at regular intervals throughout the day. Increasing this Drowsy Power (and cultivating good sleeping habits) is definitely worth?? it, because the higher the p??ower, the more Pokémon will be drawn in for you to capture and befriend, including some rare ones with potentially new Sleep Styles.

There are a huge variety of different Recipes to cook in Pokémon Sleep. Here’s how to unlock the ability to cook, and every Recipe you can eventually ??put together.

How to cook in Pokémon Sleep

Until you’ve unlocked 12 unique different Sleep Styles, you’ll only be able to poke Snorlax and select the “Auto Cookâ€?function. However, after witnessing 12 ?Sleep Styles, you’ll be able to start using a variety of ingredients to cook specific dishes.

You can cook ?at any time by simply tapping on Snorlax, which will open up the Cooking Pot. Here, you can either Auto Cook or cook specific recipes. It’s worth always making spec?ific recipes that suit your current Snorlax’s taste, which are different every week.

There are also possible boosts on offer whenever you cook, and you always have a chance to create something known as an “Extra Tastymeal. From Monday to Saturday, there is a 10% chanc??e that any meal could be Extra Tasty, while on Sunday this chance is boosted to 30%.

As you begin to find more unique Sleep Styles, you’ll be able to upgrade your Cooking Pot. This will enable you to use more ingredients, which can then be used to create recipes with a higher base strength. All of these upgrades cost Sleep Shards, and certain upgrades ca??n only be unlocked after finding a certain number of Sleep Styles.

Here are all of the Cooking Pot upgrades in Pokémon Sleep:

When to feed Snorlax in Pokémon Sleep

Snorlax with a meal in Pokémon Sleep

Snorlax is a big olâ€?hu?ngry Pokémon, and seeing as your progress pretty much depends on its satisfaction, you’ll need to know when to feed it.

Once you’ve figured out what your Snorlax of the week wants, here’s when you’ll need?????????????????????????? t?o check back in and give it another meal:

  • Breakfast (8 a.m. - 12 p.m.)
  • Lunch (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
  • Dinner (6 p.m. - 6 a.m.)

Outside of these three main meals, you can also regularly feed Snorlax with?? Berries that your Helper Pokémon has discovered. This won’t give much of a boost to Snorlax’s Drowsy Power, ??but every little helps.

Of all the Pokémon currently available to catch or evolve in Pokémon GO, perhaps none are more popular than the Eeveelutions. These?? fan favorites are?? always sought after, and each of them evolves in specific ways depending on which Eeveelution you want to end up with.

Umbreon, the Dark type Eeveelution, is a par?ticularly beloved variant. Its black and yellow (or black and blue, if you’re lucky enough to get ??a shiny) color scheme is striking, and it comes with a powerful move set that makes it an asset to any Pokémon trainer.

How to get Umbreon in Pokémon GO

If you want to get Umbreon in Pokémon GO, there are two methods that will guarantee its addition to your Pokédex. Here’s how you can get Umbr??eon.

Method #1 - Naming tricks

Eevee named Tamao to get Umbreon in Pokémon GO
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you’re relatively new to Pokémon GO and this is your first attempt to get? an Umbreon at your side, then you’re in luck, because there is a staggeringly easy way to guarantee your Eevee will evolve into Umbreon. All you ??need to do is give it a specific name.

There’s a name for each Eeveelution:

  • Vaporeon - Rainer
  • Jolteon - Sparky
  • Flareon - Pyro
  • Umbreon - Tamao
  • Espeon - Sakura
  • Leafeon - Linnea
  • Glaceon - Rea
  • Sylveon - Kira

To change your Eevee's name, select the Eevee you want to evolve from within the list of captured Pokémon, then select their name. You can change the name of any Pokémon to anything you like, but for this purpose, you need to change your Eevee's name to “Tamao/strong>.

Provided this is your first time attempting this trick, the silhouette next to the “Evolvebutton should change to one that looks like Umbreon. You can now evolve with the guarantee of getti??ng your very first Umbre??on.

Method #2 - Walking to evolve

Having Eevee as a buddy in Pokémon GO
Screenshot by Destructoid

The whole premise of Pokémon GO is to get you out of the house and walking, and the second way to get an Umbreon really plays on that fact. If you’ve already used the above-mentioned naming trick, you’ll need to go for a really long walk. Or lots of short ones, they all add up in ?the end.

To complete the “properway to get an Umbreon, you’ll need to set an Eevee as your buddy and then walk 10 kilometers. I know, it’s a really long way, but it’s a good job that Umbre??on is so cute. Right?

Anyway, once you’ve walked the required 10 kilometers, you’ll then need to wait until nighttime before you evolve your Eevee. Nighttime in Pokémon GO is from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. local time. This means that wherever you ????are in the world, as long as it’s after 8 p.m. where you are, you should be safe to evolve your Eevee and get an Umbreon.

Before the Nintendo Switch and Wii U GamePad, there was the Game Boy Advance. It seems like only yesterday that I was playing on that ti?ny little screen, making the time go by much faster dur??ing long car rides well, unless the screen was too dark to see at night.

Although it seems as if the times of the Game Boy Advanc?e have come and gone, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription has kept it alive. So, if you want to get a blast from the past, here are the best GBA games you can play on the Nintendo Switch.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

To this day, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 remains my favorite Mario game. The manifol??d of worlds and vigorous abilities were enough to keep me entertained at the age of eight, a time when I didn??'t exactly have the best attention span. It stuck with me for so long that I would eventually revisit it again in my adulthood, just to experience the nostalgia.

I know there are plenty of other great Mario titles out there, but you should make the time (if you haven't already) for Super Mario Bros. 3. It's a classic platformer that stands the test of time an??d is often considered the fan-favorite of the franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

The Legend of Zelda series has carved its place in the Nintendo collection, with unforgettable titles like Ocarina of Time and Tears of the Kingdom. During the Game Boy Advance era, we were graced with The Minish Cap, a classic adventure that follows the valia??nt Link. What sets this entry apart is its unique perspective, allowing you to experience Hyrule in a whole new light by shrinking Link down in size. This change in scale makes everything around you appear grander, where even the leaves take on a colossal form.

Seeing the world through a smaller lens makes exploring all the more int??eresting,? especially if you spent a lot of time in Hyrule in past games. Though, I will say the dungeons can be a bit grueling, whether with overwhelming hordes of enemies or puzzles that require a bit of backtracking. But if you're a fan of the series and don't mind a little challenge, you should definitely pick this one up. Even newcomers can try it out to experience its retro goodness.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team

Almost every Pokémon entry follows the traditional journey of a trainer as they catch and release critters in an epic battle. But with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, things take a different turn, assuming the role of a Pokémon rather than ?a human being. In fact, there's not even a human in sight, where the entire universe is only made up of legendary creatures.

The same Pokémon battles you know and love are still present, just with a twist of a much more direct approach. You'll also understand what Pokémon are actually saying, including many dialogue scenes during rescue missions. So, instead of Pikachu's usual "Pika Pika" dialogue, you'll have a rather intellectual conver??sation with the franchise's most notable character.

F-ZERO Climax

F-Zero Climax gameplay
Image via Suzak and Nintendo

The Nintendo Switch Online system comes with plenty of F-Zero games to choose from, such as Climax, GP Legend, and 99. If I had to pick one, it would have to be F-Zero Climax, considered one of the best in th?e business with 2D racing games. There's a ?plethora of modes to go around, from the competitive Grand Pix to the fast-paced Time Attack.

You can also make the tracks much more persona?lized through Ed??it mode, where up to 30 original courses can be carefully crafted. That way, you can test out both your customization and racing skills.

Fire Emblem

Original Fire Emblem Expansion Pack
Image via Nintendo YouTube

Since the Fire Emblem series has been around for a long time, you'd have to be living under a rock to not know about it. Heck, even Super Smash Bros. fans are probably familiar with it, as it includes over eight FE fighters in its roster. If you were curious about this franchise or want a nostalgic comeback, you can play the original that started it all (at least internationally): Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem, also known as Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, immerses you in a strategic adventure across the nation of Lycia. As corruption spreads, you're tasked with outsmarting the enemy on the battlefield. The complex challenge of each fight and the rewarding victories that follow make it a game that's hard to put down. It may just convince you to explore the rest of the series, like Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

Metroid Fusion

Image via Nintendo

With the upcoming release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, it's the perfect time to jump into this action-adventure franchise. Metroid Fusion, in particular, is a beloved entry amongst the Game Boy Advance community thanks to its riveting story, challenging?? foes, and a mass amount of handy upgrades. We also can't forget about the mighty Samus, the s??eries' long-running main protagonist who's made quite a name for herself in the gaming world.

You'll have to use Samus' strength to take down the X Parasite, known as "SA-X." The terrifying threat of this being almost makes Metroid feel like a horror game, especially with ?the ominous sounds of its approaching footsteps.

Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3

Yoshi's Island Super Mario Advance 3 cover art

Although I do love playing as Mario, there's something unique about the playstyle of his companions. Yoshi is undoubtedly one of my favorites, using the abilities of his eggs, tongue, and the flight of his Flutter Jump. You'll see these skills in action in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, the GBA remake of Super Mario 2: Yoshi's Island.

Instead of the ???typical Princess Peach rescue mission, Mario and his friends need Yoshi's help to defeat the great Kamek. Most of the cast takes on a new baby form, including Baby Mario and Baby Bowser. They are just plain adorable in this iteration, and the cuteness factor gets even better with the many color variations of Yoshis.

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror

If you love the platformer escapades of Mario, you'll certainly enjoy Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. You'll take on the role of not one, not two, not three, but four different variants of Kirby. Using the mobile phone, you and your friends can work together online or locally to?? restore Dream Land to its former glory.

I've always loved how OP Kirby feels in light of h??is copy ability, which i??nherits other beings' skills by inhaling them. It gives enemies a taste of their own medicine while also providing a diverse array of combat strategies.

Golden Sun

Golden Sun cover art
Image via Camelot Software Planning

Like Fire Emblem, Golden Sun is another classic RPG from the Nintendo collection that first took shape on the Game Boy Advance. While the Lost Age is widely known as the best game in the franchise, it's crucial to start with the original GS to understan??d the story completely. Not only will you go deeper into its expansive lore, but you'll also feel powerful with the magic of Psynergy, wielding the elemental abilities.

The Djinn system, a unique feature of Golden Sun, is the true highlight of the game. These entities, which you collect throughout your jou?rney, can be used to enhance your Psynergy. Each Djinn has its own elemental affinity, and experimenting with thei??r different classes proves entertaining.

Densetsu no Starfy series

Densetsu no Starfy characters

When it comes to the Densetsu no Starfy series (also known as The Legendary Starfy), there's not really a wrong choice since they all are exceptional in their own right. The Game Boy Advance Nintendo Switch Online subscription offers three entries for you to play, including DNS 1 to 3. Initially, these platformer ??games were only available in Japan, but now everyone can finally experience it globally with the NSO.

If you want to play the games in order, you can begin with the first in the series, diving into the underwater tales of the main protagonist, Starfy. However, you're welcome to try out the second or third titles to explore more unique? worlds.

Just like any other popular fighting game, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is no stranger to well-made fan-created content. Even 4 months after its initial release, talented fans are still making wild and creative mods, like this one, which adds the iconic Pokémon Greninja to the g?ame's expansive rost??er.

//youtu.be/aStcanRCdXU

Nyoh972 is a talented modder who has been working on a personal project named Project: P, which adds one popular Pokémon mod from each generation to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. While he already completed some amazing characters like Lucario, Blaziken, and Golisopod, ??his newest one, the representative from the Kalos region, is one of the best ones so far.

Greninja, the Ninja Pokémon, was first introduced in Pokémon X and Y, and it quickly became one of the most popular creatures in the franchise, thanks to its slick design, its formidable battle abilities, and its appearances in Super Smash Bros and the Pokémon anime. So it's no surprise that Nyoh972 chose Greninja as the representative of the Sixth Generation and added it to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. His am??bitious mod ??is now available to download on Game Banana, and? it even comes with a full description of every mechanic and move that the Ninja Pokémon can use.

This Pokémon mod is so incredible and ambitious that it feels official

Greninja the Pokémon changes its typing in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.
Image via Nyoh972/GameBanana

It's important to keep in mind that Nyoh972's Greninja mod is not just a simple skin, it's a complete character with its own unique move set. In Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Greninja can use its signature move, Water Shuriken, alongside many other powerful moves it can learn in the Pokémon games, like Hydro Pump, Shad??ow Sneak, Toxic, and Dark Pulse. Another great detail is that its iconic Shiny version is available as a?n alternate costume.

However, the most impressive aspect of this Greninja mod is the inclusion of its hidden ability, Protean. In the Pokémon games, it allows its user to change its typing to the type of move it's about to use, which was extremely useful until Game Freak nerfed it in Scarlet and Violet. Protean has been synonymous with Greninja for more than 10 years, so it's no surprise that Nyoh972 decided to include it in his Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero mod, where it lets the Ninja Pokémon change its skills between 4 different types (Water, Dark, Poison and Ghost) without changing form. This is actually a brilliant addition that proves this creator is a huge Pokémon fan.

The only thing missing from this mod is Battle Bond Greninja (AKA Ash-Greninja), the special transformation that it can achieve in Pokémon Sun and Moon and in Pokémon the Series: XY. Don't worry, however, because Nyoh972 already confirmed that he's working on a Battle Bond Greninja mo?d that he will upload as? a separate, 2-stage character, in the near future.

The Pokémon Center has officially revealed the t??heme of the next Elite Trainer Box expansion and what players can look forward to being included. Among the ??goodies in the Journey Together set are something that hasn’t come around in years Trainer’s Pokémon cards.

Trainer’s Pokémon cards were introduced to the collection early into the life of the Pokémon TCG, with cards such as Misty’s Seel or Brock’s Onyx now being fond memories for those who were lucky enough to pull them and play them in their decks. It’s been a very long time since we had any new Trainer’s Cards as part of t??he collection, but the Journey Together Elite Trainer Box and expansion will introduce four new ones:

  • N’s Zoroark ex
  • Lillie’s Clefairy ex
  • Iono’s Bellibolt ex
  • Hop’s Zacian ex

The box and expansion will be relea??sed under the title of? “Battle Partnersâ€?in Japan on January 24, and will reach the west as the Journey Together box on March 28, with pre-purchase beginning two weeks earlier.

While the Trainer’s Pokémon cards are definitely the highlight of the upcoming rel?ease, there are plenty of other goodies in the set to be excited over. Along with the usual dice and counters, there will be 11 Journey Together booster packs included in the box. Each booster pack ?has a chance to produce the Trainer’s Pokémon cards listed above, as well as the following:

  • 16 Pokémon ex cards
  • 11 rare illustration cards
  • 6 special illustration cards
  • 3 hyper rare gold cards

As stated, Trainer’s Pokémon cards aren’t a new gimmick, but it’s interesting and more than a little exciting to see them making a comeback.? If you want a better look at the box itself or the artwork you can expect to see on the booster packs for Journey Together, they’re already live on the Pokémon Center we??bsite, although the ability to actually order them is locked until the middle of March.

Aardman's managing director, Sean Clarke, stated that "Aardman and TPCi share an emphasis on heritage and attention to detail as wel?l as putting our fans and audiences at the heart of what we do, which we know will steer us right as we together create charming, original and new stories for audiences around the world." Lastly, The Pokémon Company's vice president of marketing and media, Taito Okiura, said, "This is a dream partnership for Pokémon. Aardman are masters of their craft, and we have been blown away by their talent and creativity."

So what are Pokémon & Aardman going to work together on?

Neither company has revealed whether they're working on a show, a movie, a stop-motion video game, or something else entirely. The Pokémon IP is no stranger to stop-motion animation since Netflix released Pokémon Concierge in early 2024. While Dwarf Studios animated that show, it's possible that Aardman may assist in the production of its second season.

However, it's unlikely that The Pokémon Company would partner with an animation studio as prestigious and renowned as Aar?dman for something as minimal assistance on the second season of an existing show. Considering tha??t TPCi has been further adapting its flagship IP into other forms of entertainment over the last few years, like live-action movies and TV shows, it's possible that its project with Aardman may end up being way more ambitious than we initially thought.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet came out in 2022 and still are the most recent mainline entries in the Pokémon franchise. However, and despite all the people that heavily criticized them for it's glaring technical issues, these games were apparently a big ?commercial success, especially in Japan.

According to Famitsu (and confirmed later by Serebii.net) The Pokémon Company recently revealed the total sales numbers of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet in Japan. With over 8.3 million units sold, the Generation 9 games broke a 28-year-old record and surpassed Pokémon Red & Green in sales, ultimately becoming the best-selling Pokémon games of all time in its home country.

This is a monumental achievement, seeing as the Pokémon franchise was a global phenomenon during the late 90s, and the Japanese Generation One games still regularly sell copies, even to this day. This popularity is not even exclusive to Japan, because Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have sold 24.36 million units worldwide, which cemented them as the third best-selling Pokémon games in the entire world.

In a fun but appropriate coincidence, yesterday was the 2-year anniversary of these games, and The Pokémon Company seemingly celebrated it by releasing a new Tera Raid Battle event in which trainers can fight and catch a pow??erful Shiny Rayquaza.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet were successful but extremely controversial

The announcement of this impressive milestone was quite divisive and controversial among gamers, just like anything else related to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Since it's initial release, the entire internet heavily criticized them due to their frustr???ating technical issues, like their lackluster performance, their disappointing graphics and their many bugs and glitches. While subse??quent updat??es patched some of these issues, both of these games are brimm?ing with technical errors to this?? day.

However, and as some commenters have pointed out, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet still have plenty of positive features that many fans have been asking for many years. They are the first true open-world entries in the franchise, the narrative is gripping and introduced a bunch of memorable characters, the soundtrack is incredible and almost every new Pokémon has an impeccable design. Some fans were able to get pass their massive technical issues and now see Pokémon Scarlet & Violet as some of the best games in the entire franchise.

Another c?ommon criticism was related to their ??release date, since Pokémon Legends: Arceus, another ambitious mainline entry in the series, also came out in 2022, a few months before Scarlet & Violet. Many fans blame this tight deadline and a potentially rushed development for these games' shortcomings, and some are worried that this may affect future titles as well. However (and fortunately) The Pokémon Company revealed last year that it's already having internal discussions about future game's release schedules in order to ensure quality products. This explains why the next game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will not come out until 2025.

It’s fair to say that there are a lot of different versions of Monopoly on the market, and there are even previous iterations with a Pokémon twist. Now there’s a new version joining the fray, and it’s as close to a full-on Pokémon board game as we’re likely to get.

Pre-orders for Pokémon Monopoly are open now through Hasbro Pulse, and it won’t break the bank either. The game retails for $24.99 USD, so it’s a solid choice for a Christmas gift if there’s a Pokémon fan in your life. It's set to begin shipping o?n December 20, so there's even a chance you might get it before the big day.

If you’re a Monopoly naysayer, try not to let the title put you off. You could pretty much remove the em>Monopolypart and this board game would work on a standalone level, mostly because it has ditched most of the typical Monopoly gameplay in lieu of more Pokémon-esque tasks.

Okay, so there’s still a jail and free parking, which doesn’t necessarily fit the vibe and I’m not sure how they’re go??ing to work exactly, but other than tha?t there’s a whole other way to play. Instead of traveling around the board to buy properties and ripping off your tenants, this version has you exploring locations and capturing Pokémon.

The aim of the game, and what will eventually make you the winner, is capturing eight Pokémo??n. You’ll need to get one of each of the following type??s:

  • Grass
  • Fire
  • Water
  • Fighting
  • Psychic
  • Rock
  • Electric
  • Ice

There are 48 Pokémon available to capture in total, which spawn in designated locations around the board. Exploring these locations is done by obtaining Adventure or Challenge cards, which can also allow you ??to steal Pokémon from other players, take over their obtained locations, and more.

Looking through the product photos on Hasbro P?ulse reveals all 48 of the Po??kémon that will be available to capture:

  • Geodude
  • Graveller
  • Onix
  • Rhydon
  • Tyranatar
  • Rockruff
  • Spheal
  • Abomasnow
  • Mamoswine
  • Froslass
  • Cubchoo
  • Eiscue
  • Alakazam
  • Slowpoke
  • Espeon
  • Wobbuffet
  • Gardevoir
  • Gothorita
  • Mankey
  • Machamp
  • Hitmonlee
  • Lucario
  • Hawlucha
  • Bewear
  • Charmander
  • Vulpix
  • Arcanine
  • Rapidash
  • Magmar
  • Torkoal
  • Voltorb
  • Jolteon
  • Ampharos
  • Elekid
  • Zebstrika
  • Yamper
  • Bulbasaur
  • Exeggutor
  • Sceptile
  • Pansage
  • Rowlet
  • Smoliv
  • Squirtle
  • Magikarp
  • Marill
  • Mudkip
  • Mantyke
  • Greninja

You may have noticed that among the listed Pokémon, one certai??n yellow electric mouse is missing. Well, the good news is that you can actually play as Pikachu, as?? it’s one of the player pieces. The bad news is that there’s likely to be some arguments over who gets to play as the OG cutie pie, but it’s not as if the other choices aren’t great as well. Generation 9 starters take center stage.

There’s no money, with replac?ement Pokéballs filling the gap. There are even battle encounters that can take place if you land on a location that’s controlled by another player. You can fight to knock out their Pokémon, and if you win, you gain control of the location and have a chance to catch more Po?kémon.

In case you haven't been following the Pokémon Trading Card Game scene lately, a recent art contest for it became mired in controversy when it was suspected several entrants had submitted AI generated art?work. While The Pokémon Company has not exp?licitly commented on the matter, it has since confirmed that some of the contest's finalists have been disqualified.

Over 10,000 pieces of fan art were submitted for the Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest, with 300 of them making it to the first round of the finals. A link to the results was shared on June 14 via Twitter, and the replies were soon filled with accusations that some of the chosen pieces were made with AI. It was even claimed that several entries had been submitted by t??he same? person going ??under slightly different names, which is against the contest's rules.

//twitter.com/PokemonTCG/status/1805430785056588279

A follow-up post from the Pokémon TCG Twitter account on June 25 states that select entrants have been disqualified for violating the rules. However, it stops short of confirming it was because these entrants submitted AI art, only concluding with, "We're committed to upholding the integrity of the Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest and appreciate fans' continued support as we celebrate the artistic abilities of the talented Pokémon community."

Regardless, the general response from fans has been positive, with most people assuming the AI generated art will be removed. What's more, new finalists will be picked to replace the disqualified ones, so thos??e who missed out originally have a second chance. At the time of writing, though, the pieces of art commonly alleged to be AI generated are still present among the top 300 on the contest's website.

It's perfectly understandable why the community got up in arms about some of the finalists potentially being AI generated. So many people probably spent hours crafting and refining an art piece that could match the same level of quality as a professionally made trading card, only for their work to be passed ?over for something that was made in far less time by someone typing a prompt into an art generator. Not to mention many artists argue that these AI art generators effectively steal from others' work since they scrape the internet for existing art to base their creations on.

Hopefully, there won't be any furthe?r controversy surrounding the contest. I can't imagine what the uproar would be like if an AI generated piece of art won one of the top prizes, which is to have your art be turned into an official card for the TCG.

If you're looking to add the mythical Celebi to your Pokémon Go collection, you need to compl??ete the A Ripp?le in Time Special Research tasks, which were added to the game back in 2018.

There are 22 tasks to complete across eight sections, and we've listed all of them below, along with their respective rewards, so you can plan ahead by knowing what Pokémon Go expects of you. We've included some tips on how to com??plete certain tasks as well, but a lot of them will simply require a lot of time an?d patience.

As a dual Psychic and Grass type, Celebi is naturally a good counter against Water and Fighting types, particularly with its Psychic and Magical Leaf attacks. However, it's not considered an optimal ?choice for PvP or PvE battles due to its low damage output and lack of moveset versatility. You get Celebi more for completion's sake t??han anything else.

Pokémon Go: A Ripple in Time tasks and rewards

Pokemon Go Rediscover update
Image via Niantic

Part 1

The first set of tasks are:

  • Power up a Pokémon 5 times—Requires Stardust and Candy, which can be acquired simply by catching Pokémon or hatching Eggs
  • Battle in a Gym 2 times—This only applies to regular Gym battles, not Raids. Also, you don't need to worry about winning; just battling in a Gym is enough
  • Battle in a Raid

Your rewards ??for completing these tasks are 10 Poké Balls, a Fast TM, and a Super Incubator for hatching Eggs.

Part 2

The second set of tasks are:

  • Make 3 new friends—If you don't know enough people to complete this one, there is a dedicated subreddit and website where other players will happily share their Friend Codes
  • Evolve an evolved Grass type Pokémon—This refers to Pokémon that have evolved once already, such as Ivysaur and Bayleef
  • Catch a Pokémon 3 days in a row

Your re?wards for completing these tasks are 1,500 Stardust, a Sun Stone (which you'll need for the next set of tasks), and a Premium Raid Pass.

Part 3

The third set of tasks are:

  • Reach level 25—You will earn player experience just by playing the game and completing these tasks, but you can use Lucky Eggs to double the amount of experience you earn for 30 minutes. You can buy a Lucky Egg from the in-game Shop for 80 PokéCoins or a bundle of eight for 500 PokéCoins
  • Use a Sun Stone to evolve Gloom or Sunkern—Both of these Pokémon can be found in grassy areas, especially in sunny weather
  • Hatch 9 Eggs—Use the Super Incubator you got from Part 1 to help expedite this. You can purchase more Super Incubators from the Shop for 200 PokéCoins each

Yo?ur rewar??ds for completing these tasks are an Eevee encounter (be sure to capture it since you'll need for the next part), a King's Rock, and a Premium Raid Pass.

Part 4

The fourth set of tasks are:

  • Walk 10km with Eevee as your buddy to earn Candy—This will also contribute to evolving Eevee into Espeon
  • Evolve Eevee into Espeon during the day—After completing the previous task, Eevee must be given 25 Candy during daytime to evolve into Espeon. Make sure it's still your buddy before you evolve it, otherwise it won't turn into Espeon. If you've never acquired an Espeon before, you can nickname your Eevee "Sakura" to trigger the evolution
  • Send 20 Gifts to Friends

Your rewards for completing these tasks are another Eevee encoun??ter (again, keep this Eevee for the n??ext section), 2,500 Stardust, and a Metal Coat.

Part 5

The fifth set of tasks are:

  • Walk 10km with Eevee as your buddy to earn Candy—Yes, you have to do this again, but you need to anyway for evolving Eevee into Umbreon
  • Evolve Eevee into Umbreon at night—Just like with Espeon, you need to give Eevee 25 Candy and evolve it at nighttime while it's your buddy. You can nickname it "Tamao" to instantly trigger the Umbreon evolution, but this only works if you've never acquired an Umbreon
  • Trade a Pokémon—Trading costs Stardust, so stick with trading a regular Pokémon for one you already own since this trade is the cheapest. You can only trade with a player who's within 100 meters of your location, so you'll need to find a local group if you don't know anyone else who plays Pokémon Go

Your rewards for completing these tasks are a Star Piece (which awards 50% more Stardust for 30 mi??nutes), 15 Pina?p Berries (which, when fed to wild Pokémon, double the amount of Candy they drop when captured), and an Up-Grade.

Part 6

The sixth set of tasks are:

  • Visit PokéStops 7 days in a row
  • Use 25 Pinap Berries while catching Pokémon—Aside from the ones you earn from completing Part 6, you can acquire Pinap Berries from PokéStops and Gyms
  • Use items to evolve Pokémon 2 times—The King's Rock, Metal Coat, and Up-Grade items you've earned so far can be used to complete this task, but any item-based evolution will count

Your rewards for completing these tasks are 3,500 Stardust, a Dragon Scale, and 5 Silver Pinap Berries?? (which, when fed to a wild Pokémon, increases the odds of catching it and how much Candy it drops).

Part 7

The seventh set of tasks are:

  • Catch 40 Grass or Psychic type Pokémon—Grass types can be found in any grassy areas. Psychic types can be harder to find, but can show up in grassy and urban areas. Exeggcute and Exeggutor are dual Grass/Psychic so catching these will help
  • Make an Excellent Curveball Throw—If you're struggling, there are guides on YouTube to show how it's done
  • Earn a Gold Johto Medal—This is earned by catching 70 Pokémon from the Johto region AKA ones that debuted in Pokémon Gold & Silver. Examples include Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile

Your rewards for completing these tasks are a Charged TM, 10 Silver Pinap Berries, and an encounter with ??Celebi.

Part 8

At this stage, Cel?ebi will appear, and you can capture it. Celebi will teleport, so you'll need to constantly turn your camera to look for it, but you'll be granted an unlimited amount of Poké Balls for this and there's no time limit. Just keep throwing Poké Balls at it and, once you've hit it three times, it'll be yours. You'll also be rewarded with 5,500 Star??dust, a Super Incubator, and 20 Celebi Candy.

Pokémon is one of the most consistently successful brands in the history of video games, which means that all of its fans have more than earned enough badges to broaden their video game horizons and try something new but not too new.

To avoid too shocking a transition, I looked at a lot of games that are not Pokémon, but that likely would not hav?e been as good without the influence of Game Freak's masterpiece.

10. Jade Cocoon

Let's start with a blast from the past. Jade Cocoon was already showing off gorgeous 3D graphics while the Pokémon series was still stuck in the 2D confines of the GameBoy screen. Even better, on top of being a nice alternative to Pokémon, Jade Cocoon gave us a neat alternative to the Final Fantasy series. Yeah, even though Final Fantasy VIII's popularity cast it into the shadow realm upon release, Jade Cocoon had all the makings of a bonafide '90s RPG with the pluses of being able to capture monsters, do battle?? with?? them, and even merge them like a true mad scientist.

9. Ooblets

Do you love Pokémon but feel like there's more Brock than Ash in you? Do you feel like your more-nurturing view of the Pokémon world gets neglected by the fighting-crazed devs? Then Ooblets might be the one for you. While capturing monsters is still a thing here, that can take the backseat as you worry about all other facets of life, such as gardening and farming. Ooblets is a very relaxing game that also features some unique visuals. This one works not just as an alternative to the Pokémon series, but to any other life simulator out there yes, perhaps even Stardew Valley.

8. World Of Final Fantasy Maxima

One of the biggest problems I have had with Pokémon for the past many years is the monster designs. World Of Final Fantasy Maxima solves that by featuring a pristine roster of some of Final Fantasy's most popular monsters in chibi format. While this is not a 1:1 replacement for Pokémon—far ?from it, even, as it features a bunch of very original and ?bonkers combat mechanics—it's an alternative you should definitely give a chance.

7. Shin Megami Tensei V

Are you looking for a more mature alternative to Pokémon that still involves having monsters fighting each other out, but doesn't feature Palworld's human-on-monster cruelty? Then SMTV might be the game for you.

Much like Jade Cocoon, SMTV also doubles as a story-centric RPG, with the main difference being that SMTV is a much better game. SMTV is definitely a very natural next step for anyone who happened to be a fan of both Pokémon and Final Fantasy as a kid.

6. Ark: Survival Evolved

Tired of the anime look of the Pokémon series of games and of the games that followed in their footsteps? Then it's time to America-it-up with Ark. It mixes MMO gameplay, survival elements, dinosaurs, dinosaur controlling mechanics, GUNS, and all sorts of popcorn sci-fi shenanigans you loved as a kid. Ark is absolutely bonkers, bu?t it's one hell of a time for anyone looking for a game that never stops bringing in the? fun.

5. Bugsnax

Bugsnax was a huge mystery until the very day it finally came out, and I'm assuming that might be due to how just how hard it could be to categorize. While it's far from a Pokémon clone, it's still a game where you have to use your wits to capture these strange creatures that are bug and foodstuff hybrids if you're not already an illuminated bug eater, that is. Bugsnax is fun, makes great use of physics, and, most of all, is hilarious. Get this one if you're looking for laughter that doesn't come at the expense of Pokémon-like creatures.

4. Palworld

You knew this one was coming. Despite its questionable use of violence and forced Pal labor or perhaps because of it, you monsters Palworld became one of the biggest games of 2023. If anything, you cannot deny that Palworld is a pretty courageous take on the genre.

"Pokémon with guns" sounded like a completely ridiculous concept for a while to the point that the devs at Pocket Pair had to reassure fans that Palworld was not a scam but Palworld is just too much fun. Also, it looks cute to the point that you forget all the atrocities ta??king place!

Sleuthing the digi world

3. Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition

Cyber Sleuth is another great pick for those who vibe with Palworld's deviation from the cutesy norm. Cyber Sleuth doesn't have players committing Poké or Digi-crime, but it's a much darker game than what most players would expect from the already darker Digimon universe.

As the title suggests, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth is less about getting monsters to battle it out, and more about acting as a detective in Digimon-related mysteries, and trust me when I say they do get dark sometimes. Bottom line, it's great to see Digimon, a series that clearly exists just because of the success of Pokémon, creating something truly original yes, even if you count Detective Pikachu.

TemTem is gorgeous

2. Temtem

Before the arrival of the smashing success that is Palworld, Temtem was seen by many as the best unofficial Pokémon game out there. Temtem has gorgeous visuals, creature designs that I'm sorry to say are usually better than most of what we've seen in the past 4 generations of Pokémon, and it just feels very comfy to play. Also, it's an MMO. When are we getting a Pokémon MMO?!

Cassette Beasts key art

1. Cassette Beasts

Most games on this list try to at least distance themselves from the Pokémon formula in one way or another, but Cassette Beasts goes head-o?n a?nd tries to improve upon it directly. The best part? It succeeds for the most part.

There are many things to love here, like co-op gameplay, but the ace in the hole for Cassette Beasts' is the fusion mechanics. Don't like the creatures that you have? Well, no problem as you get to combine them to create over ten thousand different beasts, which is way more than you'll fin?d in any game of this kind.

The Pokémon Company has formally confirmed a location and dates for this year's Pokémon World Championships, with the e??vent to be held in Hawaii this summer.

The news was dropped in the wake of the Pokémon Europe International Championships, which wrapped up over the weekend. Not much else has been shared, barring a cute piece of art showing Pikachu and other Pokémon scuba diving, but fans now know Pokémon World?s 2024 will run from August 168 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. So, you'll want to start making travel plans ASAP if you wish to attend.

//youtu.be/yJ2oq33xE_M?feature=shared

This will be the fourth time Pokémon Worlds has taken place in Hawaii, having previously been held in 2007, 2010, and 2012. The competition has since branched out to other locations in the last 12 years, so local Pokémon fans are bound to be thrilled to see it come back to Hawaii after so long. That said, its previous stints in Hawaii took place in Waik??oloa Village whereas the 2024 event is heading for the capital city of Honolulu. As such, anyone going in-person should expect a crowded venue.

While there'll be no Pokémon Sleep tournament (that was an April Fool's joke), you can expect to see the usual tournaments for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Go, and the trading card game. It's unlikely the new Pokémon TCG Pocket mobile game will make an appearance considering it lacks an exact release date. Maybe it'll be included in the 2025 competition after ??players have become more familiar with it and had time to figure out the m??eta.
