Very early into Elden Ring, I kept seeing these random, cracked, conspicuous-as-hell statues with a blue or turquoise light. And 50 hours in, I finally ??know how to break them open.

Backing up a step, there are many different types of statues in this game, some of which you can directly interact with. I'm not tal??king about those. I mean the statues that are partially sliced open, and often embedded in the ground or toppled over. You'll probably recognize them when yo??u see them. Like this one!

**Spoilers below**

A glowing cracked statue surrounded by trolls
I didn't put two and two together until way later.

If you're anything like me, you might've tried two-handing your weapon, various jump attacks, and explosive throwables, to name a few tactics that seemed like a good idea a??t the time. No dice at least, not that I've seen. Instead, you'll need to source some outside help. You need to use a big boy.

That's right, a big boy

Had I spent more time scoping out this cracked glowing statue on stormy Limgrave hillside with several trolls roaming nearby, I probably would've figured out the solution way sooner. In fact, on a return visit, the a-ha moment happened organically: a giant just casually strolled through it on his way to my?? character, and the cracked st??atue exploded, revealing a shiny reward.

What was inside? Unfortunately, just some low-level smithing stones a useful find in the early g??ame, but far less helpful down the roa??d when they're more plentiful.

If you missed the st??atue pictured above, you might've seen this statue with a glowing crack in the heart of Stormveil Castle, which? you would've gone past on your way to the boss.

Inside Stormveil Castle.

It's not-so-conveniently resting next to a large, gnarly enemy large enough to make me think it could also be strong enough to bust open the statue... but it didn't work for me. Appearance isn't always everything, but once you get a feel for who (or what) has the magic touch to bust open glowing statues in Elden Ring, you'll probably be able to ??inst??antly recognize them.

What I simply had to do upon luring this troll was to have it casually walk on top of this statue. It could have also just swung its weapon at me and broken the statue as collateral damage, but at l??ower levels, that could be very risky.

Elden Ring how to open glowing statues
One good troll slam should do it.

Interestingly, it seems that other large-scale enemies in Elden Ring are capable of openin?g these glowing cracked statues. When we mean big boys, they don't have to be on the scale of the aforementioned trolls. You just need to be able to look and them and think, "Yeah,?? this guy could probably eat rocks."

Other ways to break glowing cracked statues in Elden Ring

Depending on the area you're in, you will have to do some scouting on what the biggest enemies are. You'll have to train a beast or two and bring them to the statue with the glowing cracks. In the example below found in the Sealed Tunnel, this statue is against the wall, so you can't just hide behind? it in hopes of your enemy walking right into it.

What you will have to do is put your back against the statue as an enemy is about to attack you. At the right moment, dodge its attack and hopefully, they'll open the thing for you. No?t the safest thing to do, but you probably won't get anywhere just asking politely, either.

There's something horrible just out of frame.

What do glowing cracked statues contain?

In terms of reward, from every example I've seen, these glowing cracked statues just give out various tiers of upgrade materials like Smithing Stones for your weapons and shields. A potentially good haul, but not necessarily something I'd want to go out of my way to get, if ??that makes sense.

This is just t??he latest in a line of "Wow, I really overthought that!" moments in the game. I'm loving it. Especially now that I've hit a brick wall, and it's time to go wanderin?g again.

Lancetfish Paella is a complicated five-star dish you can make in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which re??quires tough fish to make. It's located in a fa?r-off space that is hard to reach for newcomers to the game.

Where to find Lancetfish Paella Disney Dreamlight Valley ingredients

You'll requi??re? five different ingredients to make Lancetfish Paella. They are:

  • Lancetfish
  • Tomato
  • Shrimp
  • Any kind of seafood like Shrimp or Squid
  • Rice

Lancetfish can be fished from the Forgotten Lands. It's the hardest biome to reach in Disney Dreamlight Valley, unfortunately, and will require a lot of Dreamlight to unlock. Once you've finally reached the dark area, fish f??rom the ponds in the area and look for blue ripples. This is where the Lancetfish lurk. You may get other kinds of fish from the catch too but be persistent. I was able to find mine the first time, however.

Tomatoes and their seeds can be bought at Goofy's Stall in Dazzle Beach. The seeds can be bought for 8 Star Coins each from one of Mickey's best friends. You may be lucky because the tomatoes themselves may be up for sale too. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case today for me. You might also find a fresh Tomato from Wall-E's garden; thankfully, luck was on my side this time. They're also used as a Ratatouille ingredient.

Shrimp can be caught while fishing at Dazzle Beach nearby Goofy's Stall, thankfully. Catching two of them is easier to do for any kind of seafood addition, but if you have any spare Squid ??in your inventory you might as well use that. While? trying to catch Shrimp, look for blue ripples in the ocean.

Lastly, Rice can be bought at Goofy's Stall in the Glade of Trust?. You can buy the seeds for 35 Star Coins each or the ingredient itself for 92 Star Coins. It's worth the extra money ??to just get the ingredient, but if you want to save money, you can grow the Rice yourself.

Where to cook

You can cook your meal at any stove in Disney Dreamlight Valley. There's one in your house or if you've finished Remy's realm in the castle, at Chez R??emy. Throw all of the ingredients in the pot, and you should have your Lancetfish Paella. Bon appetite!

Group passwords are the backbone of Elden Ring's multiplayer scene. Whether you and our friends are playing the game's box-standard multiplayer mode or ??using one of the many incredible mods fans have made ??to trick it out, you'll need passwords to explore the Land Between as a team.

Luckily, group passwords are much more than a way to join a group for cooperative multiplayer or PVP. Many Elden Ring group password??s significantl??y buff the number of Runes you get when you defeat one of the game's shard-bearing bosses. Some of these passwords give you a boost of up to 5%, so you and your friends could end up squeezing a few more level-ups out of the game's most epic bosses.

Specific passwords also come with other effects, including unique summon signs, varying amounts of bloodstains, and the chance to run into hostile phantoms. Here are some of the best co-op codes in Elden Ring.

How to use group passwords in Eldren Ring

After popping open the menu and selecting Multiplayer, you can press Triangle on PS4/PS5 to change your password Settings from here, you can enter a Multiplayer Password or a Group Password. The latter is your ticket to scoring more Rune?s.

Image via Destructoid

You can i??nput up to five group passwords during a session, but you don't have to fill every slot. Having multiple group passwords active can lead t?o strange results, so think carefully before you input co-op codes.

At the moment, I'm using these five Elden Ring group passwords:

Before I could finish filling out all five entries, my Rune buff was already active. Here's the status icon (it looks just like the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot with an up arrow):

The Rune buff status icon.
The Rune buff status icon.

You'll also notice that your character has a golden glow wh?ile the effect is active.

While group passwords on??ly need to be t??yped once (and you can change or remove them whenever with no penalty or restriction), they won't automatically carry from one character to the next; if you've got a bunch of alt characters, you'll need to fill out the passwords again for each individual tarnished.

This is probably something I should've looked into before finishing Elden Ring, but I guess that's what subsequent playthroughs are for! I've been dominating the living room TV with t??his game, so I should cool it for now. (The keyword being "should.")

At this rate, the priciest PS Plus subscription tier is a tough sell if you're not into cloud gaming

PlayStation Plus offers three subscription tiers—Essential, Extra, and Premium—and out of all of them, the middle option feels like the best value. As someone wh??o treasures retro games, especially the ability to easily play them on modern hardware, I thought I'd be a regular Premium subscriber above all. But the initial wave of PS Plus Premium classics was sparse, and the rollout since then has been as incremental as folks had feared.

Sony's updates to its classic catalog have been disappointingly irregular, and whenever it has added old-school titles from the PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable days, they typically haven't been the most exciting inclusions. To this day, many fan-favorite games that defined these consoles remain absent from the catalog, such as the original Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon trilogies.

Right now, it seems like most of the value of Premium is tied to the streaming-only PS3 classics and cloud gaming in general. Unfortunately for player??s like me who never got into the PlayStation Now service, that's not a great deal—but it could be so much more ent?icing if the PS1, PS2, and PSP library did more heavy lifting.

For all of the backlash, I've slowly but surely come around on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack thanks to the N64, Sega Genesis,? and DLC inclusions. I hope PS Plus Pre?mium can step it up too; otherwise, I'll swap to the Extra tier when my sub runs out.

As more g?ames join the service, I'll update this list, including notes about any PS1 c?lassics with trophies, or games that are exclusively playable with PS Plus Premium.

This would be a much different conversation if PS3 games weren't tied to the cloud.

It's worth noting that some beloved games are included in the separate Remasters list on PlayStation Plus Premium. Notable examples include Patapon, Patapon 2, LocoRoco, LocoRoco 2, Toukiden: Kiwami, and Gravity Rush. So while it's a lot ??of various newer remasters, there are gems that fit the "classic" vibe of the PSP and Vita era.

As for PS3 games, again, they're streaming only on PS4 and PS5. There are way too many for me to list out and link sorry! But Tokyo Jungle and PixelJunk Monsters sure do rule.

I always love hearing about no-brainer tips that are easily overlooked. They're small advice tidbits, yet they're impactful over time and make you do a double-take for failing to notice them. For my fellow Stardew Valley fans who enjoy caring for animals, this one goes ?out to you.

Caring for animals, at least in Stardew, is simple. Despite this, it can be overwhelming for new players who just want to farm fruits and vegetables forever. Fortunately, we have a one-?stop shop for all the animal care info y?ou'll ever need.

Where to buy animals in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley offers multiple ways for you to unlock pets and farm animals. Below is every animal you can purchase or obtain throughout your play??through:

  • Dog, cat, and turtles
  • Horses
  • Chicken
  • Duck
  • Rabbit
  • Cows
  • Goat
  • Sheep
  • Pig
  • Ostrich
  • Dinosaurs
  • Slimes

After earning at least 1,000 gold in your playthrough, Marnie will approach your farm, asking if you want to adopt a dog or cat. For the most part, your choice is final unless you buy Butterfly Powder from Krobus. From Year Two onward, you can buy a pet license ??from Marnie at her ranch, allowing you to unlock turtles or buy more cats and dogs.

Speaking of Marnie's Ranch, her shop is the key to unlockin?g other animals. After building a bar??n or coop on your farm through Robin's Carpenter, head to Marnie's Ranch south of the farm to buy some animals. Below is every animal option and their prices:

Animal Farm Building Price
Chicken Coop 800g
Cow Barn 1,500g
Duck Big Coop 1,200g
Goat Big Barn 4,000g
Pig Deluxe Barn 16,000g
Sheep Deluxe Barn 8,000g
Rabbit Deluxe Coop 8,000g
Ostrich Barn N/A
Dinosaurs Big Coop N/A

The exception to this is dinosaurs, ostriches, and golden chickens. Ostriches require you to get Ostrich Eggs from solving Ginger Island's tenth journal scrap or opening Volcano Dungeon chests, making them one of the rarest animals in Stardew Valley. Dinosaur Eggs are slightly easier to find, as they spawn in artifact spots around the mountain, fishing treasure chests, and from Pepper Rex drops. Lastly, Golden Chickens are a Perfection reward, requiring you to 100 percent Stardew Valley to unlock.

Another exception is slimes. As you explore the mine??s and defeat slimes, there's a small chance you'll pick up their eggs. Although these eggs alone sell for quite a bit, you can also build a Slime Hutch to incubate them, allowing you to have your own slime family. Just watch out; they'll inflict damage if you walk into them without a Slime Charmer ring on.

How to build Coops and Barns

If you haven't built a coop or barn yet, Robin's Carpenter Shop up in the mountains is your first stop. Head up here and interact with her ??shop to find various building options, with coops and barns b?eing among your choices.

Here's every farm animal-related ??building and their material costs:

Once you build a coo?p or barn, you can walk in and place items like the auto-collector o?r heater to make the space more comforting for your animals. You'll also find a feeding area at the back to place hay. If you have a silo, it'll automatically dispense hay here as long as you have it full.

How to pet animals in Stardew Valley

Petting your farm animals and pets is one of the best ways to raise your friendship, as it'll gradually increase your friendship, barring any issues that significantly decrease it. You can pet your animals by right-clicking, tapping, or pressing A on each animal, depending on your platform. When in doubt, press your int?eract button.

You know how you need to greet/pet your farmyard animals each day to get a little heart and grow your bond so they produce the highest-quality goods? Well, for many of us especially those of us with more goats, chickens, cows, and pigs than we probably need the morning ritual can be fussy. Stardew animals can get all bunched up in close quarters, and it's a little pesky to greet them once so that you don't accidentally bring ??up their friendship rating menu when you tend to them.

Although you can go up to each animal and pet them, you can take things a step further by holding the pet/interact button and running up to them it'll work perfectly. You'll g??et friendship points with every animal?, and you won't have to pull up the dreaded menu.

Here's a demonstration of the trick on PC from Reddit user Boiled_potato8:

//www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/l192s1/took_me_ages_to_realize_you_could_just_click_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

It'll save you time in the long run, making it relative?ly easy to raise your friendships as you gain more farm animals.

Alternatively, you can purchase the Auto-Petter from Joj??aMart for 50,000g or pick it up in Skull Cavern chests. It also can appear in mines during Danger In The Deep and with the Shr?ine of Challenge active. Having an Auto-Petter in either a coop or barn lets you pet your animals automatically without you ever having to interact with them.

The only downside is that you?r animals will receive half the friendship points they'd get from you doing it manually. The moral of the story? Human-animal interaction is more important than h??aving a machine do it for you.

How to raise animal friendship in Stardew Valley

Alongside petting your animals, you can also increase their friendship by milking and shearing those that live in your barn. Although keeping them fed with hay will prevent them from losing friendship, letting them outside to eat grass will raise it, with blue grass doubling the effect.

The real challenge comes from preventing your animals from getting upset. Not feeding them and leaving them outside overnight will decrease their friendship significantly, with the latter having a small chance of wild animals coming by and making a mess of thin?gs. Not petting or talking to your animals will also lower their friendship.

Stardew Valley animal mood
Someone's unhappy. Screenshot by Destructoid

In short, paying attention to your animals and feeding them will naturally raise their relationship with you o?ver time. Interacting with them twice shows a profile detailing their age, mood, and hearts toward you. The maximum you can earn per animal is five hearts or 100??0 friendship points.

Once you reach Farming level five, you can unlock the Rancher or Tiller professions. Choosing Rancher raises the value of animal products, allowing you to make more money later. More importantly, though, you'll unlock Coopmaster and Shepherd at level ten, letting you befriend animals ??quickly. If you want to create a massive farm full of animals, picking Rancher and Coo??pmaster or Shepherd is a solid call.

What does max animal friendship do?

The higher your friendship is with an animal, the higher their odds of producing higher-quality items. Their daily mood also determines this, which can fluctuate depending on how well you cared for them the day before. F?or example, a happy five-star rabbit has significantly higher odds of producing a rabbit foot than an unhappy zero-star one.

All animal produce types in Stardew Valley

Every animal has their own products you can sell, cook with, or turn into artisan goods. While s??ome are more valuable than others, they're all useful in their own way. Below is every animal and their product list.

Animal Products
Chicken Egg
Large Egg
Cow Milk
Large Milk
Duck Duck Egg
Duck Feather
Goat Goat Milk
Goat Large Milk
Pig Truffle
Sheep Wool
Rabbit Wool
Rabbit's Foot
Ostrich Ostrich Egg
Dinosaurs Dinosaur Egg

Like with most Stardew Valley items, quality and professions matter. Similarly, while Coopmaster and Sheph??erd help you befriend animals quicker, Artisan in the Tiller branch raises Artisan good value by 40 percent, making it extremely useful if you sell a lot of che??ese or wine.

Do animal hearts decay in Stardew Valley?

Yes, they do decay, albeit very slowly. Much like with villagers, you won't notice much animal heart decay unless you go weeks or entire seasons without feeding or petting them. If you just forget to pet? them occasionally or go a day or two without refilling their food, they'll express annoyance but won't rapidly drop their hearts. Generally speaking, raising their friendship is much easier than decreasing it.

Can animals die in Stardew Valley?

Although morbid, the answer is yes: your Stardew Valley animals can technically die. Although it's impossible for them to die from starvation, temperature, or low friendship, leaving them ?outside overnight can cause wild animals to wreak havoc on your farm. Thankfully, you won't see th??e wild animals in action, but you will hear it happen.

What's the solution, then? Make sure you keep your animals fenced in and repair any broken ones that degrade over time. You'll also want to either leave them in their barns and coops or only have them out during t??he day before herding them back inside and repeating the proces??s.

What if you can't find an animal but haven't seen the wild animal cutscene? More often than not, your animals will roam around your farm, especially if you have broken (or no) fences. I've seen my animals appear in the corners of my map, stranded for days until I finally noticed their disappearance. I'm lucky I didn't get the cutscene. Your best bet is clearin??g out any obstacles that can mess up animal pathing or be very proactive in building fences.

I have so many arcade games available on my Switch; it’s obscene. Also, kind of expensive, which we’ll get to. But with the short length of yo??ur standard arcade title, they’re easy to dive into when you need a snack.

So, here’s Irem Collection Volume 2, which is, as you have most likely guessed, the follow-up to Irem Collection Volume 1. Irem is perhaps best known for their R-Type series, but the developer was among the best in the arcade days with hits like Kickle Cubicle and Undercover Cops; games that could go under the radar and are therefore ripe?? for inclusion in collections.

But perhaps the most important contribution from Irem is Metal Slug. Not the actual game that was Nazca and SNK but it was the place where the staff behind Metal Slug first stretched their legs before setting out on their own. And nowhere is this more apparent than in Gun Force II, one of the games in this collection. There are also tw??o other games here.

Irem Collection Volume 2 (Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Switch [Reviewed])
Developer: Irem
Publisher: ININ Games
Released: November 14th, 2024
MSRP: $24.99

I’m going to go through the individual games included in this collection, but I want to give a word about how they’re packed: awkward. Kind of awkward. Not every game collection needs to be Atari 50, but Irem Collection Volume 2 is barebones on top of unintuitive. The volume of the menu, for example, is substantially higher than the games themselves. Each game has a “casualand “classicmode, the difference being that you can’t participate in the leaderbo?ards in casual mode, but you get access to game settings, cheats, and rewind. I’m guessing that they’re presented separately for leaderboard reasons, but I don’t see why they can’t just warn you when you try to turn cheats on. You can use autofire on both, which seems strange.

It uses an emulation platform that I’ve seen before in Ratalaika/ININ re-releases like the Cyber Citizen Shockman games and the Ninja Jajamaru: Retro Collection. That’s not nec?essarily a good or bad thing. I just want you to know what you’re in for, if you’re familiar.

There’s no supplemental documentation or credits for the original games, which lacked them at release, and we still don’t know who some of the developers were for the games. What’s galling is that the physical collector’s edition of ??the game comes with things like reproduction arcade flyers and a visual compendium, so it’s not like they don’t h??ave anything to show, they just chose not to include them in a digital format.

Annoying, but let’s talk about the games.

Air Duel

Irem Collection Volume 2 Air Duel
Screenshot by Destructoid

The odd one out in the collection is Air Duel. It’s the only scrolling sh?oot-’em-up of the bunch. It’s extremely challenging, but you’re not exactly going to run out of quarters here. It'll be a real climb if you want to place on the leaderboards, though.

You can choose between a helicopter and your typical futuristic jet-thing. The jet thing works about how you’d expect one to work in this kind of game, but the chopper’s gunfire will turn in the direction you’re pressing. It’s awkward at first, but learning to use it gives yo??u the advantage of being able to stay out of the direct line of gunfire and still attack. I didn’t like it the first time I tried it, but after clearing the f?irst level, I can’t imagine playing without it.

About a zillion of these types of games were released through the 0s and 0s, and you can get a lot of them on Switch. In comparison, Air Duel is fine. I like it, but it’s not likely to be the game I reach for next time I’m in the mood. That will probably be something like Raiden or Raystorm. On the other hand, I now have the worldwide high score on this game. Take that, three other people who have early access to Irem Collection Volume 2. You suck.

GunForce (Arcade)

Irem Collection 2 Gun Force (1)

I’m technically going out of order here, but I feel like the arcade version should come first. GunForce is a run-and-gun like Contra, except with more vehicles and way clunkier. Its subtitle is em>Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island, which is just an incredible mash of words.

GunForce is so clunky that it might take a bit to acclimate. Your dude moves so stiffly, and enemies just pour in from the side of the screen. Crowd control and learning to dodge don’t come as naturally as you’d probably find in a Contra derivative.

Once you do get a handle on things, it can be an enjoyable game. It gives you a new vehicle practically every few steps and these range from jeeps to helicopters. Powerups drop constantly, and you’re able to grab onto overhanging objects. It’s just getting into or out of a helicopter, climbing a ladder, or letting go of an object that can take a bit of fighting, and in a game like GunForce, a little bit of fighting can mea??n another lost life.

GunForce (Console)

I keep forgetting that GunForce even came out on SNES/Super Famicom. That’s probably because it’s not talked about all that much. Not in my experience, anyway. Its inclusion here is more of a “good to havethan a “need to havesituatio??n. It’s largely the same as the arcade version but squished dow??n for less powerful hardware. It plays very faithfully, with the biggest difference being that, on classic difficulty, you’re saddled with a handful of continues. Occasionally, there are too few continues since a bad situation can make you drop lives fast. Other times, there are too many because there are only a few levels.

The?? biggest drawback is tha??t it’s a lot less colorful. GunForce wasn’t a colorful game to begin with, but anything vivid it did got flattened out on SNES. It’s a shame because the console was capable of more. It’s still an okay translation of an okay game, but being a shadow of another game in the collection makes its inclusion feel somewhat unnecessary. Good to have, though.

Gun Force II

Irem Collection 2 Gun Force 2
Screenshot by Destructoid

Gun Force II is the last arcade game to be developed by Irem. Named Geo Storm in Japan, it’s largely a different beast from the original GunForce. What links them is the fact that they’re both run-and-gun shooters, a??nd they have you jump into a tonne of different vehicles throughout the levels. Otherwise, the??y feel pretty distinct.

There’s still a noticeable degree of clunk to be found in Gun Force II,? but it makes up for it by being absurdly over-the-top. Your dude comes equipped with two guns at all times, and at any given time, 80% of the screen is covered in explosions. It’s a game that never lets up, constantly throwing new situations at you. Turning on autofire just makes things more insane. And more fun.

It’s not Metal Slug, but you can see the similarities. You rescue captured people who, in this case, are scantily clad women in torn clothing. The enemy's screams are exactly the same. You can also see a lot of art style similarities between the two, though it’s less pronounced and consistent in Gun Force II. Only Takeshi Okui is confirmed to have worked on the art, but I’d be very surprised if he was the only one from the Metal Slug team.

The Collection

Gun Force II is easily the standout of the bunch. I’ve talked to smaller developers who have worked on run-and-gun shooters, and t?hey often cite it as an inspiration. It maybe doesn’t make t?he whole collection worth it, but it’s definitely worth playing.

And that’s kind of the hang-up here: whether or not the collection is worth it. It’s one standout title (Gun Force 2), a good one (Air Duel), and one that is simply okay (GunForce). You get different regional versions where applicable, as well as the console port of GunForce. There isn’t really any supplemental material (which isn’t totally unusual), and the UI could be better. The value isn’t quite where it should be. It’s slightly more expensive than buying three Arcade Archives titles and worse value than something like Taito Milestones.

So, overall, Irem Collection Volume 2 is less than spectacular. If the games really appeal to you, then the collection doesn’t diminish them, but it also doesn’t elevate them. In terms of value, you could do worse, but it’s not an immedia?te recommendation. They’re your quarters, do what y??ou want with them.

Genshin Impact is due for another major update, and the 5.2 special program has finally revealed details for the upcoming patch. Here’s everything new coming to Genshin Impact in Version 5.2, titled Tapestry of Spirit and Flame, which releases on November 20.

Genshin Impact 5.2 Banners

The first half of Genshin Impact Version 5.2 will feature character banners for Chasca (5-star Anemo Bow) and Lyney (5-star Pyro Bow). They will be accompanied by the 4-star Electro Bow character Ororon. The weapon banners will feature Chasca’s 5-star signature Astral Vulture's Crimson Plumage, as well as Lyney’s signature The ??First Great Magic.

The banners in the second half of Genshin Impact 5.2 will rerun Zhongli (5-star Geo Polearm) and Neuvillette (5-star Hydro Catalyst). The weapon banner will include Neuvillette’s signature Catalyst Tome o??f the Eternal Flow. The other 5-star weapon will probably be Staff of Homa, though there’s a small chance for Vortex Vanquisher instead.

Tw??o new 4-star weapons will make their debut on the?? weapon banners: Waveriding Whirl (Catalyst) and Flower-Wreathed Feathers (Bow). It’s still unconfirmed whether they will run in the first half or the second.

New characters: Chasca and Ororon

Chasca and Ororon have featured prominently in Genshin Impact’s story in Natlan, and now, they join the playable roster. The special prog?ram revealed some new inf?ormation about how these characters will play.

Chasca is a 5-star Anemo Bow character who’s really neither Anemo nor a Bow user. Her attacks infuse different elements?? based on Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teammates, so Chasca deals mixed-element “rainbowdamage instead of just Anemo. And although she equips a Bow, Chasca actually summons a giant revolv??er which she rides like a flying steed and fires like a shotgun. Chasca looks to be a unique on-field DPS who focuses on mixed-element damage.

Ororon is a 4-star Electro Bow character who deals off-field Electro damage using his Skill and Burst. His kit incentivizes Electro-Charged teams utilizing Electro and Hydro characters. It sounds like he’ll be a possible alternative to Fischl in Electro-Charged teams that require Nightsoul mechanics. Ororon has the ability to leap high into the air before gliding slowly to the ground, a??nd if you enter aiming mode while in the air, Ororon can hover in place.

Genshin Impact’s Xbox release and special wings

With Version 5.2, Genshin Impact will be available to play on Xbox Series X|S. Travelers logging into Genshin Impact on Xbox will receive a new pair of green wings (Wings of Fate's Course Intertwined), as well as two Intertwined Fates and a Northlander Billet Trove. Going forward, Xbox users will receive additional exclusive goodies with each patch, consisting of ??Fates/Primogems and other upgrade materials.

Users on other platforms won’t receive the Fates and other materials, but they can still get the Xbox wings! During Version 5.3, everyone logging into Genshin Impact on any platform will receive the Xbox wings in their mailbox. This only lasts through Version 5.3, going away once 5.4 rolls around. Howe?ver, Xbox users will be able to claim the wings anytime by logging in on their Xbox Series X|S.

Throughout the years, particularly in 2023 and 2024, we've experienced some of the best (and worst) gaming has to offer, from role-playing games that set the standard for years to come to small indie titles that lay comfortably in our hearts and tug at the heartstrings. We're also continuing to see the rise of expansions for some of the most famous games out there, from World of Warcraft: The War Within to Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.

Wit??h all that said, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of game releases as the months go on, especially if you're partway through a playthrough and learn that more games are launchin?g the same week.

The Model L is a capable gun in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 with its respectable damage and mid-range advantages. However, it does have some faults that need to be remedied and can be done with the loadou??t you choose.

So ?here's the best Model L loadout in Call of Duty Black Ops 6.

The Model L Call of Duty Black Ops 6 loadout you should use

The Model L is a ful?l-auto assault rifle that is slow at firing but has great accuracy, making it great at mid-ranged gunfire. To help enhance its accuracy and improve its firepower, here are the recommended attachments:

  • Optic: Accu-Spot Ultra Holo
  • Muzzle: Muzzle Brake
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Precision Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag I
  • Rear Grip: Commando Grip
  • Stock: Balanced Stock
  • Fire Mod: 5.56 NATO Overpressured

Best Model L loadout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can get eight attachments if you use the Gunfighter Wildcard. Otherwise, you're stuck with five.

Why should you choose this loadout?

The Optic is completely up to you, but the Model L should have a 3x optic as it's suited for mid-range combat. I picked the Accu-Spot Ultra Holo optic as the Willis 3X reduces your Aim Down Sight Speed. Next, for the Muzzle, go for the Muzzle Brake. It gives you further control over your gunfire and increases the Kick Reset Speed. If you want to go for a stealthy build, choose the Suppressor as it removes your shots from the mini-map.

Moving on, the Barrel should be the Reinforced Barrel as it increases your Damage Range and Bullet Velocity. This is great for mid to long-ranged fights and significantly improves the Firepower of the Model L. The Precision Foregrip should be the next pickup in the Underb??arrel section. It i??mproves Aiming Idle Sway and Horizontal Recoil Control, giving even further accuracy.

It's always best to have more ammo at the ready, so an Extended Mag I is your best pick for the Magazine. If you want to improve the speed of your gun, however, the Fast Mag I is not a ba??d shout either because i?t improves Reload Quickness, Aim Down Sight Speed, and Sprint to Fire Speed. As it's a mid-range gun, however, it's not as suited to close-quarters scenarios.

Thankfully, you can significantly increase the Aim Down Sight Speed of the gun with the Quickdraw Grip as your Rear Grip. You don't need the Sprint to Fire Speed and Slide to Fire Speed from other attachments as this gun shouldn't be as mobile as the XM4 and the Goblin Mk2.

The Balanced Stock improves many factors of the Model L, including Strafing Movement Speed, Hip??fire Movement Speed, Movement Speed, and Aim Walking Movement Speed, making the gun more adaptable to short-ranged and mid-ranged encounters.

Lastly, you'll want the 5.56 NATO Overpressured Fire Mod on the Model L. It will help you counter t?he gun's slow-firing capabilities.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 local multiplayer is something many fans want as it's been a part of the series for decades. Playing against your friends or with them in co-op on the couch is a memory many cherish and would like to resume in 2??024 and beyond.

Is Call of Duty Black Ops 6 split-screen-capable with friends?

Thankfully, you can play both the zombies mode and multiplayer with split-screen functionality. There's a catch, however. PS4, Xbox One, and PC Call of Duty Black Ops 6 players can't use split-screen and are only able to play with one player at all times. Onl??y those on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can play a round of Team D??eathmatch with a mate on the couch with split-screen. Simply connect the second controller and have them press A or the cross button at the lobby.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has splitscreen
Screenshot by Destructoid

The positi?ve is that the split-screen covers the entire screen with no cut-off sections. It's fully 16:9. It doesn't see??m like you can play competitively against each other, however. I've tried to start a local multiplayer match under the "Private Match" mode and it didn't connect a second controller.

Does Call of Duty Black Ops 6 need to connect online?

Unfortunately, you'll need to always be online while playing Call of Duty Black Ops 6, even for the single-player campaign. This means that LAN has become obsolete. At least, some form of Black Ops 6 local multiplayer is supported through split-scree?n??.

Do you need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass to play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 online?

If you're playing the game on PS4 and PS5, you'll need at least PlayStation Plus Essential to access Call of Duty Black Ops 6's multiplayer matchmaking. This is the same with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S users with Xbox Game Pass Core and up. Thankfully, both of these services come with free games each month. November 2024, for example, has Ghostwire Tokyo and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 included with your subscription.

If there’s one thing that every Fallout game has taught us, it’s that humans never learn their lesson. As if Earth needed to endure any more nuclear explosions, Fallout 76 allows players to launch nukes of their ow??n and eve?n encourages them to do so.

While obtaining pre-war nuclear launch codes was a privilege only a few in the world had, the post-apocalyptic wasteland hands out codes as if they were phone numbers. If you're looking to leave a radioactive scar upon Earth yourself, you're gonna need to know what Nuke Codes are currently active.

Currently active Fallout 76 Nuke Codes:

Alpha:
822 72 317

Bravo:
295 55 318

Charlie:
896 72 304

Nuke Code??s reset eve??ry Sunday at 5pm PT / 8pm ET / Monday 12am UTC

What are Nukes Codes used for in Fallout 76?

fallout 76 blast zone
Screenshot by Destructoid

In Fallout 76, Nuke Codes are weekly codes for launching nukes across the Appalachian Wasteland. When the codes reset every Sunday night, any codes held within player inventories will be d??eleted. Each code consists of eight digits corresponding to one of the three nuclear launch sites within the game: Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Since each code can be used by any player while they are active, the community comes together to decipher ?the codes each week so that individuals don't have to.

Besides nuking other playersâ€?camps for fun, nuclear launches play a vital role in the endgame of Fallout 76. After an area?? is nuked,? some of the highest-level enemies, loot, and mutated flowers spawn within the newly created blast zone. Some bosses such as the Scorchbeast Queen only spawn when particular areas are nuked.

How to use Nuke Codes in Fallout 76

Every player is capable of taking advantage of the r?egions nuked by other players but to launch nukes of your own, the??re are some prerequisites.

Here’s what needs to be done in order to use ?Nuke Codes to? launch nuclear missiles:

  1. Complete the Main Quest
  2. Become a member of the Enclave faction
  3. Complete the Enclave quest, I am Become Death (This acts as a tutorial for the launch process)

    1. Alternatively, having a team member launch a nuke will automatically complete the quest for you.

  4. Obtain a Nuclear Keycard - By using the tracking terminal located within the Whitespring Congressional Bunker, you can trigger a repeatable quest to track a cargobot convey which carries a Nuclear Keycard.
  5. Travel to any of the three nuclear launch sites: Alpha, Bravo, or Charlie
  6. Fight high-level enemy hordes within the launch site. (Prepare for level 50+ robots)
  7. Input the weekly Nuke Codes found at the top of this page that correspond to the nuclear launch site you’re at. (Ex. the Alpha code only works for Launch Site Alpha.)
  8. Select your target and launch your nuclear missile

Where are the nuclear launch sites in Fallout 76?

There are three nuclear launch si??tes in Fallout 76, each located within the Savage Divide region. There aren't many differences between them, but if a player has recently used a site to launch a nuke, the interior will be on lockdown (effectively a cooldown state).

Where to find Launch Site Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie

Launch Site Alpha

Site Alpha is?? located North of West Tek ??Research Center.

Launch Site Bravo

Site Bravo is fou??nd directly South of the Palace of the Winding Path, or Northeast of the Grafton Dam.

Launch Site Charlie

Site Charlie is Southwest of Foundation wi??thin a warehouse facility.

Note that the Elden Ring Walking Mausoleums are found as quickly as the first area, but if you want to go in fresh. Skip away!

Here's a buffer for you:

[caption id="attachment_624604" align="alignnone" width="1200"]How to get in the walking Mausoleums in Elden Ring Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Okay, ready?

To get into the Elden Ring Walking Mausoleums, you'll need to bring them down to your level.

So, for many hours (like 30), I thought you had to run up some mountain somewhere and then jump down on it. Some will require you to do that while others are more straightforward.

How to get into every Walking Mausoleums in Elden Ring

There are a total of seven Walking Mausoleums in the base game of Elden Ring. Here they are as follows from their??? closest Site of Grace:

[caption id="attachment_624606" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Elden Ring Wandering Mausoleum in Limgrave Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Isolated Merchant's Shack (Limgrave)

Just a bit northwest of sp?awning here, you'll see your first Mausoleum roaming around. Carefully remove the barnacles on its legs. They appear more like skull clusters. You will do so by attacking them. Upon cleaning up enough of them, the Mausoleum w?ill come down, granting you entry inside the tomb.

[caption id="attachment_624605" align="alignnone" width="640"]Elden Ring Wandering Mausoleum in Liurnia Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Gate Town North (Liurnia of the Lakes)

Go north from hear by the cliffside to find the Mausoleum with a bell. This one requires you to jump onto the grassy part of its body to b??ring it down. You'll need to wait until it gets close enough to the cliffs? you can scale to climb aboard. You can also use the spirit spring to jump onto it if you're scared of falling to your death.

Once on top, clean up the barnacles on its body to bring it down and open the ??door.

[gallery size="full" ids="624608,624607"]

Mausoleum Compound (Liurnia of the Lakes)

There are two Mausoleums here which will require you to hit the barnacles on their legs to bring them down. It's straightforward??, but they do get agitated and start jump-stomping. When you see them do so, make sure to get back so you won't get crushed.

[caption id="attachment_624610" align="alignnone" width="640"]Elden Ring Wandering Mausoleum in Consecrated Snowfield Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Apostate Derelict (Consecrated Snowfield)

South of this Site of Grace will be the next wandering Mausoleum. Once again, hack away at the skull barnacles on its feet to bring it down. This time, it'll shoot you with ranged attacks, so be ready to dodge not only its feet, but ma?gic bolts c??oming at you.

[caption id="attachment_624611" align="alignnone" width="640"]Elden Ring Wandering Mausoleum in Mountaintops of the Giants Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Castle Sol Main Gate (Mountaintops of the Giants)

Right next to Castle Sol's gates will be the sixth Mausoleum. Slash away at the barnacles ??to bri??ng it down.

[caption id="attachment_624612" align="alignnone" width="640"]Elden Ring Wandering Mausoleum in Deeproot Depths Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

The Nameless Eternal City (Deeproot Depths)

The final one can be encou??ntered underground. Unlike most other Mausoleums, you will have to use the roots around it to climb onto the thing while it's still in motion. The barnacle skulls will be on its upper body compared to the legs. Clear?? enough of them to bring it down.

Once you're there, the Elden Ring Walking Mausoleums can be used to duplicate remembrances.

If you've played the Souls series before, you'll be very familiar with this concept: they're boss souls. In Elden Ring, they can be used to "squash" into raw runes (souls) for leve??ling up for buying items, or you can transmute them into one of two items at the hub area (usually a weapon, or a spell).

Good luck! ??The Walking Mausoleums are super easy to spot, and now that you know the trick, you can ??bring them down.

Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fancy seafood dish that can impress ??your fellow villagers l??ike Mulan and Belle, among others. You'll need four ingredients throughout the game to make this gastronomic spectacle.

All Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon Disney Dreamlight Valley ingredients

To make this four?-star dish, you'll require the following ingredients:

  • White Sturgeon
  • Butter
  • Basil
  • Lemon

White Sturgeon can be found within the waters of the Frosted Heights. Get your fishing rod and get the valuable fish for your dish. They're from orange ripples in the water; I found them very quickly in my experience. Butter is an easy ingredient to find as it's sold in Chez Remy after finishing the Ratatouille realm's missions in the Castle.

Basil, which can also be used for cooking Creamy Soup, is picked up from the ground in Peaceful Meadow. Look for its green leaves and you should find the herb fairly easily. Lastly Lemons can be grabbed from trees within the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust. All of these ingredients are pretty easy to get, so you should be able to gather them and cook them at any stove around your house or Chez Remy easily. You'll now have the fancy four-star dish to give, eat, or sell in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How much is this dish worth?

You can sell the Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon for 2,284 Star Coins at Goofy's Stall and you can eat the meal for 4,961 Energy. If you sell it, it will account towards?? your Dreamlight tasks and goals.

This Mexican dish, the Vegetarian Taco, in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a wonderful meal that can get you 423 Star Coins at Goofy's Stall. Thankf??ully, it's fairly easy to make if you know where to get the ?ingredients.

Vegetarian Taco Disney Dreamlight Valley ingredients

To make a delicious Vegetarian Taco, you'll need the fol?lowing ingredients:

  • Chili Pepper
  • Cheese
  • Corn
  • Any vegetable like a Carrot or Corn

To get yourself some Cheese, head over to Chez Remy and buy it from the rat. It might not pass safety standards in our world, but you can get the ingredient for 180 Star Coins. You'll need to complete the Ratatouille realm inside the castle to gain access to this?? restaurant an??d Remy himself.

Corn seeds and the ingredient itself can be bought from Goofy's Stall in Dazzle Beach for 15 Star Coins. Chi??lli Pepper can be purchased from Goofy's Stall i??n the Sunlit Plateau for 20 Star Coins.

You can buy another Corn to make up for the vegetable y??ou need for the fourth ingredient or use something else you're growing like a Carrot.

Once you have all the ingredients, ??you can make the Vegetarian Taco by throwing in all the ingredients at a stove from your house or Chez Remy.

Other Cheese dishes you can make

With Cheese in your inventory, you can make Puffs in Disney Dreamlight Valley. For example, you can create Eggplant Puffs by including the Eggplant, Cheese, and Eggs. It's a three-star dish. You can even make Kronk's Spinach Puffs from the movie The Emperor's New Groove.

The Chili Pepper can help you make Spicy Baked Bream too.

Tequila Works already has a storied history in the indie scene since it arrived in 2009. RiME is one of its most acclaimed titles with an 80 Metacritic score. Its last project Song of Nunu was a collaborative project with the League of Legends license starring a boy and his yeti friend in an arctic landsc??ape.

In 2022, Tencent became a majority stakeholder in the Spanish studio. “We are delighted to ally with a partner that allows us to make Tequila Works a stronger studio with access to all the resources required to produce titles of the highest quality, all made with the care and passion our beloved fans know us for as well as the opportunity of bringing these projects to a wider audience," said Tequila Works Chairwoman Luz Sancho at the time in a news release.

Tencent also holds stakes in Epic Games, Bluehole, and Ubisoft. It also acquired Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios in 2021.

Genshin Impact has several gacha banners that change?? on a three-week basis. Read on for an analysis of the current and upcoming banners and see where you?? should spend your wishes!

Current Banners in Genshin Impact

Current banners end on:
October 29, 2024

Genshin Impact’s current rate-up 5-star characters are Xilonen (Geo Sword) and Chiori (Geo Sword). They are accompanied by the 4-star characters Collei (Dendro Bow), Candace ?(Hydro Polearm), and Dori (Electro Claymore).

Genshin Impact’s current rate-up 5-star weapons are Peak Patrol Song (Sword) and Uraku Misugiri (Sword). They are accompanied by the 4-stars Mountain-Bracing Bolt (Polearm), Rust (Bow), Sturdy Bone (Sword), Sacrificial Greatsword (Claymore), and Favonius Codex (Catalyst). Of the 4-stars, Mountain-Bracing Bolt and Sturdy Bone are exclusive to the weapon banner and cannot be obtained via standard ??wishes.

There is currently no Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact.

Upcoming Genshin Impact Banners

Genshin Impact 5.1 banners

The second half of Genshin Impact 5.1 will feature Nahida, a 5-star Dendro Catalyst character, along with Hu Tao, a 5-star Pyro Polearm character. We can expect Nahida and Hu Tao's? banners on October 29.

Genshin Impact 5.2 banners

There are two new characters coming to Genshin Impact in Version 5.2. They are the Anemo Bow user Chasca and Electro user Ororon.

How good are the current Genshin Impact banners?

Disclaimer: There is no pity for a specific 4-star character or weapon. Do not pull for a specific 4-star unless you are prepared to pull several 5-stars along the way. The weapon banner is even more punishing than the character banners. Do not pull unless you are okay with receiving at least one of each featured weapon.

How good is Xilonen?

Xilonen is a strong support who debuffs enemies and provides healing. Geo characters usually synergize poorly with other elements, but Xilonen breaks the mold by actively encouraging Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teams. With the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set, Xilonen provides additional buffs when she triggers Crystallize. Unless you play primarily Anemo, Dendro, or Geo teams, Xilonen will be a valuable pickup. Her kit functions differently depending on which elements are present in her team, though, so be sure you know how she will work in your team before you decide to pull.

How good is Chiori?

Chiori is a decently strong off-field Geo DPS unit. She hasn't had a particularly strong presence in the meta since her release, primarily because Geo teams just aren't that popular. ??Sti??ll, even if Chiori is rarely the best option for a team, she's never the worst option either. If you like Chiori, be sure to play her in a Geo team where she can synergize with other characters' Geo constructs. If you don't play Geo teams, and you're not in love with Chiori, then she's an easy skip.

4-Star Characters

The featured 4-star characters are Collei, Candace, and Dori. None of them are particularly exciting. If you're thinking about pulling for Xilonen or Chiori's Constellations, you might want to hold off until they rerun with less tra?gic 4-stars you'll actually want to play.

Of the three 4-stars, Collei is the strongest. She's a Dend??ro Bow user with decent (if unreliable) Dendro application. Every player gets Collei for free upon clearing Floor 4 of the Spiral Abyss, bu?t her Constellations improve her ability to deal damage and apply Dendro. If you want to play Collei, I recommend getting as many Constellations for her as you can.

Candace and Dori are both niche support characters. Neither of them see much play, simply because so few characters want what they offer. Candace converts melee attacks to Hydro damage and buffs Norm?al Attacks. Dori heals and provides Energy generation. Most teams that can use either Candace or Dori will be better off replacing them wit??h someone else. Constellation 6 Candace allows her to apply some extra Hydro, though, which can enable some unique Vaporize or Bloom teams.

5-Star Weapons

Peak Patrol Song is Xilonen's signature weapon. This 5-star Sword has a DEF% secondary stat and allows Xilonen to buff teammates even more than she already does with the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set. Peak Patrol Song is the only weapon in Genshin Impact that fully synergizes with Xilonen's kit. 4-star alternatives include Favonius Sword for some bon??us Energy, or Flute of Ezpi??tzal to improve her healing.

Image via HoYoverse

Uraku Misugiri is Chiori's signature weapon, but you can use it on DPS Xilonen or Albedo too. For the very few characters can take advantage of its passive, it's a significant DPS upgrade over th?eir 4-star options. Even with Uraku Misugiri, though, it's hard for me to recommend playing DPS Xilonen without at least Constellation 2.

4-Star Weapons

The 4-star weapons, in general, are quite good. Rust is useful for Normal Attackers, Favonius Codex can be a?? good for supports, and Sacrificial Greatsword has its uses on the likes of Chongyun. Sturdy Bone is a new banner-exclusive 4-star Sword that increases Normal Attack damage after sprinting. Mountain-Bracing Bolt is ??a banner-exclusive 4-star Polearm that increases Skill damage. Neither of these new weapons are game changers, but the Polearm could be an interesting option for Kachina, Emilie, or Cyno.

Genshin Impact is infamous for its incomprehensible ability descript??ions, and the new character Xilonen takes this wordiness to the next level. If you don’t want to spend an evening rea?ding the novel that makes up her kit, here’s a quick run-down on how to play Xilonen as both a support and DPS. You’re welcome.

Is Xilonen a DPS or support?

Xilonen’s kit enables her to function as either an on-field DPS or an off-field support. Despite this flexibility, Xilonen is far more effective as a support than a DPS. You can still play Xilonen as an on-field DPS, but I recommend obtaining at least Constellation? 2 and a ??5-star CRIT weapon if you choose to go this route.

DPS Xilonen uses ??different ?combos than support Xilonen. Scroll down to the relevant section based on how you want to play her.

How to play support Xilonen

As an off-field support, Xilonen requires a team with at least two characters that are Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. This team element requirement is critical since it significantly alters how Xilonen functions. You can see whether your team qualifies by using Xilonenâ€??™s Skill and looking at the colors of the three triangles next to her Nightsoul meter. Only one triangle is allowed to be yellow. If at least two triangles are orange, blue, purple, or light blue, then your team will work with Xilonen.

Once you have your team, you need to figure out your rotation. Xilonen should take the field before your on-field DPS in order to activate her buffs. Switch to Xilonen, use her Burst, then Skill, then two Normal Attacks. After two Normal Attacks, her Nightsoul meter should fill up? and disappear. If your combo is interrupted, you may need an additional Normal Attack to fill up the meter, since it passively drains over time.

Xilonen’s Burst heals the on-field character over time, and filling up the Nightsoul meter activates her debuffs. After you’ve finished her Normal Attacks, you can switch Xilonen for your on-field DPS, who will then deal increased damage and e??njoy some healing.

How to play DPS Xilonen

I don’t recommend building Xilonen as a DPS unless you’re either a whale or just really dedicated. Her damage isn’t amazing for a 5-star, but it’s still good enough for most content. For reference, in similar teams, my DPS C0 Xilonen with Uraku Misugiri does about 20-30% more damage than my C6 Noelle with?? Redhorn Stonethresher. Your results may vary.

DPS Xilonen requires at least two Geo teammates. I recommend Gorou and either Albedo or Chiori. If you lack any of those, Navia, Zhongli, and Yun Jin are also potential options. Once you have your team set up, try using Xilonen’s Ski??ll. At least two of the triangles next to her Nightsoul meter should be yellow.

Having two Geo teammates changes how Xilonen’s kit functions. Instead of Normal Attacks filling up her Nightsoul meter, the meter? will constantly drain over time. Since Xilonen’s Normal Attacks deal increased Geo damage while her Skill is active, they will be her main source of ??damage.

To play Xilonen as an on-field DPS, first rotate through your supports to set up their abilities. Then, switch to Xilonen and use her Burst, then Skill. Follow up with as many Normal Attacks as you can before her Nightsoul meter completely drains. This will usually be ?three sets of four Normal Attack combos, for a total of 12 hits.

Genshin Impact has never seen a character like Xilonen before. She’s a Geo character, but she can buff multiple elements and heal her teammates. With such strong supportive abilities, will Xilonen? affect the meta, or can you a?fford to skip her?

Is Xilonen worth pulling in Genshin Impact?

Xilonen is shaping up to be an incredibly strong support for Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teams. Xilonen’s flexibility and ease of use in Genshin Impact teams definitely make her worth your pulls. Even a?t Constellation 0 with 4-??star weapons (Favonius Sword or Flute of Ezpitzal), she can enable your team to hit for bigger numbers while simultaneously keeping them alive.

Xilonen’s role in teams is similar to that of Kazuha, an Anemo unit who provides similar elemental buffs and debuffs. Xilone?n can’t replace Kazuha’s crowd-contro??l and sustained elemental application, but she can provide healing instead. If you’re looking for a buffer for your elemental teams, Xilonen is a good option and an alternative to Kazuha.

Outside of meta reasons, Xilonen is just nice to have for exploration. She skates faster than Kachina’s Turbo Twirly and saves stamina when climbing cliffs. She also generates some Phlogiston when other characters trigger their Nightsoul Transmi??ssion traversal abilities. There’s also the sheer cool factor of a DJ cat woman on rollerblades who can transform into a glittery ocelot. Her trailer theme is an absolute banger, too, if you haven’t checked it out already.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KxK37KN7Hk

Are Xilonen’s Constellations worth it?

Xilonen is already strong at C0, but her Constellations further improve her abilities to various degrees. You don’t need Constellations for Xilonen to per?form well against most enemies. I only recommend pulling for Constellations if you’re not saving up for future characters? and/or you have the disposable income for extra wishes.

It’s not worth pulling for Xilonen’s first Constellation on its own. It improves her exploration perks by allowing her to skate for longer. Cons??tellation 1 can mostly be considered a stepping stone on the way to Constellation 2.

If you do choose to pull for Constellations, Constellation 2 is my recommended stopping point for Xilonen. Constellation 2 improves Xilonen’s buffs based on the elemen?ts present in her team. It also allows her to support Geo DPS teams. If you want to play Xilonen specifically with Itto?, Noelle, Albedo, or Chiori, Constellation 2 is a must-have.

Constellations 3 through 5 improve Xilonen’s supportive capabilities, but to a lesser degree. Constellation 6 allows Xilonen to become an on-field DPS. These higher Cons?tellations exist for whales who want to hyper-invest into their Xilonen.

Xilonen from Genshin Impact

Is Xilonen’s signature weapon worth it?

Xilonen’s signature 5-star Sword is the Peak Patrol Song. It has a DEF% secondary stat with a passive that buffs your team’s elemental damage based on the equipping character’s DEF. In short, it improves Xilonen’s buffing abilities, making it Xilonen’s best weapon overall. Peak Patrol Song is worth it if you want a weapon that synergizes well with Xilonen’s kit.

Xilonen has perfectly usable 4-star options. Favonius Sword takes care of her Energy Recharge needs while providing more energy for the entire team. Flute of Ezpitzal can be crafted using billets and improves Xilonen’s healing. There aren’t any 4-star weapons that directly improve Xilonen’s unique kit, though. If you want a weapon that actually feels like it belongs on Xilonen, you’ll ?ne?ed Peak Patrol Song.

Don't worry too much a??bout how your weapon looks on Xilonen. During normal team rotations, you won't actually see her weapon. Xilonen prefers to kick enemies with her rollerblades instead.

Xilonen from Genshin Impact on rollerblades
Screenshot via Genshin Impact YouTube

Should you pull for Xilonen’s C2 or her signature weapon?

Maybe you have the extra wishes for either Constellation 2 or Peak Patrol Song, but not?? both. Which one is better for your Xilonen?

For most teams, Xilonen’s Constellation 2 is better than R1 Peak Patrol Song. However, with the recent changes to Genshin Impact’s weapon banner, Constellation 2 can be about twice as expensive as a 5-star weapon. If you’d rather save some pulls for future Natlan characters like Chasca or Mavuika, Peak Patrol Song is the cheaper option. You can always o??btain C2 Xilonen when she reruns.

If you plan to play Xilonen primarily with an Electro DPS, keep in mind that her C2 bonus for Electro is finicky. 25 energy is nice, for sure ?and it affe?cts the whole team, not just your Electro characters. But you won’t be able to take advantage of the extra energy or the 6s Burst cooldown reduction unless you specifically build your team for it.

Genshin Impact has released preview images (known in the community as “drip marketing for its next cohor??t of upcoming characters. This round of drip marketing features the peacekeeper Chasca and the enigmatic Ororon. Here’s what we know about them so far.

Chasca the Anemo archer

If you’ve played through the first couple of Archon Quests in Natlan, then you’ve already met Chasca. She’s a Bow use?r from the Flower-Feather tribe, which represents the?? Anemo element. Apparently, Chasca was raised by Saurians, resulting in a combative nature. When she was found and adopted by a human family, Chasca had to learn how to navigate human interactions in a more peaceful manner. Now, Chasca embraces her role as Peacemaker, resolving tribal conflicts wherever they may arise.

As for Chasca’s playable kit, we’ve seen her use a Bow during cutscenes, and her Anemo Vision is clearly visible at her hip. Other than her weapon and element, though, we don’t know how Chasca will actually play. Given Chasca’s story invo?lvement and how her element matches her tribe’s theme, it’s likely that Chasca will be a 5-star character. More details should be on their way in a few weeks.

Ororon the enigmatic traitor?

We never actually saw Ororon during the Archon Quests in 5.0, but we did hear him spea??k a few lines. He appears to be from the Masters of the Night-Wind the Natlan tribe symbolizing the Cryo element. Despite his tribal affiliation, though, Ororon is shown to have an Electro Vision. The Archon Quest reveals that Ororon is collaborating with the shady Fatui Harbingers, though it's unclear whether he’s being coerced or acting of his own free will. Aside from his brief involvement in the Archon Quests, we don’t know much else about Ororon.

Ororon officially has an Electro Vision, but his weapon type remains unknown. We haven’t even seen him in-game yet, hindering speculation about his playable kit. Fun fact: Ororon is only the fourth male Electro character to join the Genshin Impact roster. All ten other Electro characters in Genshin Impact are female, resulting in the?? most skewed ge??nder ratio of all elements.

When are Chasca and Ororon coming to Genshin Impact?

Going by past release trends, we can expect Chasca and Ororon to become playable sometime during Genshin Impact Version 5.2. Our roadmap puts 5.2 at a November 20 release date. The two ne??wcomers should make their debut either on that date or three weeks later on Dec??ember 11, depending on how HoYoverse staggers their banners.

While we wait for Chasca and Ororo?n, Geo Sword user Xilonen is releasing very soon on October 9. Be su??re to check back then for more resources on Xilonen’s builds and if she is worth pulling!

In an unexpected crossover, music channel Lofi Girl and Alien Isolation have released a lo-fi collab based on the fan-favorite game. During the Hallowe?en season, you can now listen to some chill music inspired by the horror title while studying or working.

This is "a collab I was no?t at all expecting," said YouTube user @Owlgineer with the top-rated comment. "At least now I can vibe out while hiding from Xenomo??rphs."

//youtu.be/LfJODQV8C8E

It may seem like a strange collab out of the blue, but it has been published on SEGA's YouTube channel as part of ??the publisher's 10th anniversary celebrations for the hit horror game. "Put on your headphones and relax through spacebut don't forget to check your motion tracker," warns SEGA in the video's description. HoKø has created the music, which successfully chills you but at the same time, maintains its horror-like essence with odd atmospheric sounds sprinkled in.

SEGA also announced on Monday that an Alien Isolation sequel is in the works. The creative director Al Hope returns with the game's original studio Creative Assembly back to develop the title. It's currently in early development. "We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready," said Hope in a social media message released Monday.

Alien Isolation is a beloved horror game from 2014 that has high critical praise. It has an 81 Top Critic rating on OpenCritic. "Isolation has some flaws, but it’s faithful to the film series, and I’d love to see a follow-up with a few extra alien evolutions," said our 8.5/10 review from Destructo??id's Editor-in-Chief Chris Carter, who will likely get his wish.

Tuna in Disney Dreamlight Valley ??is a gateway to many fishy dishes in the game. It can be found in two s??eparate biomes in this Disney title.

Tuna Disney Dreamlight Valley location

Tuna can be spotted in the Glade of Trust and Forgotten Lands, just like Squid. However, you'll find Tuna from white ripples within the waters of these locations, not blue.?? Search the rivers and ponds of these biomes and get your rod out to catch the Tuna you require. You should be able to find the fish fairly easily. If you don't see a white ripple, however, try to catch a fish from a different colored ripple for a chance of a white ripple appearing straight afterward.

If you catch a Tuna, you can sell it for 95 Star Coins and eat i??t for 350 Energy. You'll likely want to make a dish with the Tuna, on the other hand. This ingredient is also collected for one of Nala's quests??.

How to make a Tuna Burger

You can make a Tuna Burger fairly easily in Disney Dreamlight Valley, ?and it's surprisingly a five-star meal. You'll require the following:

  • Tuna
  • Lemon
  • Wheat
  • Onion
  • A vegetable of your choice (Carrots, for example)

Lemons grow on trees in the Glade of Trust and Forest of Valor. Wheat is purchased from Goofy's Stall in the Peaceful Meadow. Onions and Onion seeds are bought from Goofy's Stall in the Forest of Valor. You can then use any vegetable of your choice, such as a Carrot, Lettuce, or Potato. After piling them all into a pan at a stove in Chez Remy or your house, you'll finally have a Tuna Burger in your grasp. You could also make a Vegetarian Stew if you'd like.

It's time to flip some faces and figure out the murderer, as Clue, Guess Who, and Connect Four are all heading to Fortnite in the coming months. Clue is the first Hasbro game to launch in Fortnite, and Guess Who comes to the battle roya??le titl??e later in October.

A refresh of the games

Launching today, Murder Mystery: Clue has players in round-based gameplay and a countdown timer. Everyone has different roles, such as the Killer, Detective, and Guest, and each one has a different win condition. The developer Look North World says, "This new take on Clue offers a highly replayable exp??erience, blend??ing nostalgia with engaging gameplay that resonates with today’s players" in the press release.

Guess Who comes to Fortnite later this month, while we'll have to wait until December for Connect Four. This move ??is to help pivot Hasbro's classic games to a modern audience. Apparently, they will be "offering a fresh twist that reimagines these classic bo??ard games."

"We are excited to work with Hasbro, a brand that understands the power of user-g??enerated content as a unique opportunity to connect with passionate gamers," said Look North World Founder and CEO Alex Seropian.

Seropian helped create Bungie, the studio that developed the legendary Halo and Destiny series. Now, Look North World is creating content for Fortnite and premium mods for ARK: Survival Ascended.

Hasbro claimed in 2023 that Clue is the second-most popular board game in the world. It has sold over 150 million copies in its lifetime. It also has a new live-action film on the way by director James Bobin and 20th Century Studios. The game itself?? has been around for over 70 years and was created by Anthony Pratt during World War 2.

It's quite fit?ting.

The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa will say "Hakuna Matata" to Ursula, Mickey, and Jack Skellington when they join Disney Dreamlight Valley next week. A few improvements have been implemented into the user experience as well as par??t of a new update.

There are no worries as Timon and Pumbaa become guests

On October 9, Disney Dreamlight Valley players will return to the Lion King realm ??to recruit Timon and Pumbaa to their village. During this visit, however, we'll experience both the day and the nighttime in the jungle. As you may expect (if you've watched the original movie), the duo will be teaching us how to relax as we set up a camp, power nap, stargaze, and learn how to deal with stress.

There will be new story quests and friendship rewards with Timon and Mr. Pig. One of the friendship quests has us helping Pumbaa embrace a new, unexpected hobby: pottery. You'll likely need to make bug-related dishes for Timon and Pumbaa rather than a Souffle, but that's just a hunch.

A new Star Path

Gameloft has confirmed a new Star Path co??incides with the October 9 update called the Night Show. It includes rockstar-themed clothes for your character. It also comes with neon lights, pyrotechnics, and even a stage for you to build inside yo?ur valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley x Loungefly

Disney Dreamlight Valley will feature some popular Loungefly designs you can pick up in real ?lif??e. Some of them include Maleficent's dragon form and Mickey's sorcerer look. Maleficent's bag even glows in the dark.

A few quality-of-life updates will arrive on October 9. Furniture will begin to appear at Scrooge's store instead of empty clothing displays. There will also be a new cursor option while moving furniture and other items in the world, which locks the cursor to the m??iddle. Recipes can also be added to the quest tracker, which will definitely ?help.

On September 26, SNK announced Street Fighter's Ken Masters and Chun-Li are joining the roster of its upcoming Fatal Fury title. The announcement was made during the developer's block at Tokyo Game Show along with a teaser trailer.

Coming just days after Fatal Fury protagonist Terry Bogard's release in Street Fighter 6, the news that Capcom characters are crossing over into SN??K's intellectual properties as well, lit the fighting game community on fire.

Beloved YouTuber Maximilian Dood's hilarious reaction to the trailer is already being memed into oblivion, and ??questions of what's next in this working relationship b??etween two fighting game titans are swirling in the rumor pool.

Fighting game players, especially of the older generation, are familiar with past crossovers between Capcom and SNK, such as the Capcom vs. SNK games and SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos. These crossover titles hol?d a legendary reputation and were foundational in the development of the FGC. They run so deep in the community that the CvS games held spots at EVO when it was still called Battle by th??e Bay.

2003 was the last time gamers received a full crossover fighting game from the two developers, but with Terry and Mai Shiranui in SF6 and Ken and Chun in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, it's very likely one is in the works. But the Street Fighter crossover isn't the only one SNK is working on presently, as the company strangely announced soccer star Ronaldo's involvement in its new title just one day before that.

Fatal Fury is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and? PC before its release on April 24, 2025.

It feels like just yesterday that Genshin Impact had a massive update that introduced Natlan. But the team at HoYoverse isn’t done, and we now have details for Genshin’s next major update: Version 5.1, titled The Rainbow Destined to Burn.

Genshin Impact Version 5.1 releases on October 9, 2024. Check back later for even ??more details, as well as pre-install information and maintenance rewards.

Genshin Impact 5.1 Banners

The first half of Version 5.1 will feature Xilonen (5-star Geo Sword) and Chiori (5??-star Geo Sword). They will be accompanied by their si?gnature 5-star Swords, Peak Patrol Song and Uraku Misugiri.

The second half of Version 5.1 will feature reruns of Nahida (5-star Dendro Catalyst) and Hu Tao (5-star Pyro Polearm). The?ir 5-star signature weapons are A Thous??and Floating Dreams and Staff of Homa.

In addition to these 5-stars, three new 4-star weapons will be available on the weapon banners. These are Sturdy Bone (Sword), Mountain-Bracing Bolt (Polearm), and Fruitful Hook (Claymore). Mountain-Bracing Bolt, in particular, appears to be Kachina’s preferred weapon, ??at least in cutscenes. There's no information yet on which banners will include these weapons.

Xilonen

There’s one new 5-star character coming to Genshin Impact in 5.1: Xilonen. Xilonen is a famous smith from the Children of Echoes whose handiwork can be seen in? everything from the Pyro Archon’s sunglasses to Kachina’s Turbo Twirly. She’s a DJ on the side, and she’s crafted herself a special pair of earbuds so she can listen to music on the go. Xilonen uses her special rollerblade??s to skate around Natlan, even traversing sheer cliffs.

There are two ways to play Xilonen. If you have two or more Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro characters in your team, Xilonen will be able to support them b?y reducing enemy RES to those elements. Give her the new Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set, and she’ll provide DMG buffs, too! If your team is primarily Geo, though, Xilonen will function more as a damage dealer.

Events

The flagship event for Genshin Impact 5.1 is Chromatic Ode of Candies and Roses, aka the Sabzeruz Festival. Travelers will return to Port Ormos and collaborate with Sumeru characters to plan a birthday surprise for Nahida. Given all that she’s been through, Nahida deserves a proper birthday celebration. This event will feature several minigames, including a flower carriage rhythm game, a spot-the-anomaly game, and some combat trials. Completing the event rewards players with the usual Primogems and Ascension materials, as well as a free Candace.

The other events in this patch consist of Aphid Treasure Trace (use Xilonen’s net to capture corrupted aphids), Feast of Pursuit ??(a high-difficulty combat event), and Reminiscent Regimen: Thrill (a co-op combat event). Liben will also be making a return to the city of Mondstadt, trading various valuable goods in exchange for odds and ends.

Other additions to Genshin Impact 5.1

We can expect new Archon Quests that continue Natlan’s storyline. Acts 3 and 4 of Natlan’s Archon Quests will fe?ature some new characters: Citlali and Ororon. N?either of them is playable in Version 5.1, but they probably will be added to the roster in future updates.

Secret Source Constructor world boss in Genshin Impact
Image via HoYoverse

A new world boss will be available in Natlan: the Secret Source Constructor. This is a mysterious ancient machine that looks like a larger version of the Secret Source machin?es in ?Natlan’s open world. Xilonen will likely use the Secret Source Constructor’s boss materials to Ascend.

Exploration rewards will be added for the existing regions of Natlan. Complete exploration objectives before the end of Version 5.2 to receive Primogem rewards. Future regiona??l releases will also have exploration rewards for? the two Versions following their introduction.

New Envisioned Echoes trails will be added for Zhongli and Keqing. Zhongli’s Echo looks like golden dragon scales, while Keqing’s has little purple flowers. Use Keys of Echoes to unlock their respective trials and unlock these co??smetics.

If you’ve been regularly clearing the Spiral Abyss, your experience will now be streamlined. Completing Floor 12 with full stars will allow you to skip Floors 9 and 10 in the next cycle, claiming their rewards directly from the Abyss screen. Completing Floor 11 with full stars only all?ows you to skip Floor 9.

?The crafting experience will receive an overhaul, allowing you to sort by character at the crafting bench. No more scrolling through pages and p?ages of items just select the character you’re trying to level up and see the materials they need.

5.1 appears to be a lighter patch for Genshin Impact, adding no new regions and only one n??ew character. Still, I'm grateful for the o?pportunity to catch up on exploration, and I'm excited to see how Natlan's story will continue.

Ghost of Tsushima's sales numbers have reached over 13 million copies worldwide across PS4, PS5, and PC. The news was announced via a New York Times interview published Thursday, generating further excitement for Ghost of Yotei.

Ghost of Tsushima sales numbers are great ahead of its sequel

Sucker Punch Productions' Ghost of Tsushima has reached the milestone four years after its release on PS4. It has since received a Director's Cut edition on PS5 (which comes with the DLC expansion), and a recently launched PC version in May that received a Very Positive score on Steam. It also released a multiplayer mode, possibly enticing more play??ers to get into this adventure title.

Back on July 15, 2022, Sucker Punch reported on X that 9.73 million copi?es were sold. This means that?? the PC launch, plus additional sales on PS4 and PS5 has resulted in more than three million copies shipped since.

Likely in response to the critical and commercial success of the first game, PlayStation revealed the game's sequel, Ghost of Yotei. It features a new female protagonist played by Erika Ishii (Apex Legends, Destiny 2), who explores the region of Ezo (now known as Hokkaido) and the stunning areas surrounding Mount Yotei. "Atsu sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount YĹŤtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers," said the PlayStation Blog.

//youtu.be/7z7kqwuf0a8

“Being in this incredibly beautiful park with jagged cliffs and water, yet all the time being aware there were dangerous bears?, was electrifying," said creative director Nate Fox to The New York Times.

The game's trailer already has over five million views on YouTube. PS5 players can check out Ghost of Yotei when it launches sometime in 2025.

Topaz in Disney Dreamlight Valley c??an help you finish certain quests and gain a lot of Star ?Coins. They're mined from stones in a familiar area of the game; here's where to find them.

Topaz Disney Dreamlight Valley location

Topaz is a rare crystal that can be obtained by mining rocks in The Plaza. This is the first location you visit in the game in front of the castle. Topaz is yellow, so if you see a ro??ck gleaming in that color, go mine it.

How to find Topaz in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

There is a chance it appears without the crystal popping out, but it's far less likely. Keep trying if you don't find Topaz in your first run of mining. Wait five minutes, and then the rocks should reappear. I had to do this four or five times before one emerged. You may find Garnet, w??hich ?is red, as well. It can be frustrating, but keep going, and you'll find Topaz eventually.

Mulan is one of the quest givers who want three Topaz from you with the A Daily Regime quest. Thankfully, Garnet is another crystal she'd love; she'll ask for six. She'll also need four Aquamarine and six Peridots. Aquamarine crystals can be mined at Dazzle Beach and the Forest ??of Valor. Peridots are obtained by mining rocks in Dazzle Beach and the Peacefu??l Meadow.

What is Topaz sold for in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Topaz can be sold for 240 Star Coins at Goofy's Stalls. They're mostly valuable when quests are invo??lved, but hey, it's something.
