Recently, Resident Evil legend and former Capcom employee Shinji Mikami made it pretty clear that there was no room in the modern gaming era for a Dino Crisis renewal. This is despite the fact that it's the most-wanted Capcom revival that fans are after. Given this, it's no?t surprising that people are deciding to forge their own pa?th instead.

As noted by DSO Gaming, fans have been attempting to create unofficial remakes of Dino Crisis, and there's another one in the pipeline. Called Project Crisis, the developer has shown off an announcement trailer for the game, which is being ?built in Unreal Engine (UE4 specifically, according to the report).

//youtu.be/4KKDzvX4nmE

The teaser above is brief, but gives a little dollop of what may come. However, as it's very much a work-in-progress, it's likely that things will change as development moves on. There's no information about when we can expect it to release, bu?t we do know it's "coming soon" to Itch.io.

If it comes out at all

Given that this is a project not officially endorsed by Capcom, we can expect this fan remake to hit quite a few barriers along the way. DSO suggests that, as exciting as it would be to see Dino Crisis make a comeback, it's unlikely to be as polished as something like the Resident Evil 2 remake, and the original developer/publisher may not be please?d with people tinkering with its IP, even if the company itself isn't doing anything with ?it.

It would be a shame if the plug did get pulled, but we may get lucky. The video is probably enough to whet the collective whistles of those who remember the original 1999 survival horror game, especially as the last one we got was Dino Crisis 3 way back in 2003. Sadly, this last entry was not exactly well received, with a Metacritic score of just 51%.

Mikami's reasoning behind Dino Crisis probably not being given another shot is basically down to Monster Hunter. The hit Capcom series is evidently filling a hole that seems to render a game about fi?ghting dinosaurs moot at this point. He goes on to say that he was surprised to see fans are eager for a new game in the long-dormant franchise, but it definitely looks l??ike it's not going to be happening any time soon.

We can only hope the studio has a change of heart, or we at least get to experience Project Crisis before the lawyers get involved.

Digital Eclipse has announced that not only are they remaking Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, they’re launching it into Early Access today.

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord was the first in the series and launched all the way back in the primordial days of 1981 on the Apple II. It was one of the games that popularized dungeon crawlers and helped translate tabletop RPGs to the home computer. It’s not the first, however. Richard Garriot’s Akalabeth predates it by a year and DunjonQuest: Temple of Apshai by two. Even before that, there were attempts to recreate Dungeons and Dragons on mainframe computers.

On the other hand, you could consider Wizardry to be the seminal dungeon crawler RPG. It set the standards for a lot of first-person dungeon crawlers that would follow in its wake. It also spawned a long-running series. This isn’t even the firs??t time the game has been remade, but Digital Eclipse is staying extremely true to the original version.

Remakes and remasters are nothing new to game preservation, but I’m really digging the “warts and allapproach we’ve been getting recently. Usually, some of the more aged aspects get smoothed over, but everything that made the game special is preserved. That’s certainly the ?case here.

I was given an early look at the game but only had time for a bit of noodling. The one feature that really stands out to me is that, while you’re always looking at shiny and new graphics, the original interface continually plays in the bo??ttom-right corner of the screen. It’s sort of a picture-in-picture comparison. I think it’s pretty fun, sort of like when a game allows you to switch back and forth between remastered graphics and the old look. On the other hand, if you don’t like it, you can make it transparent or hide it entirely.

While Digital Eclipse says that they’re sticking fast to Wizardry’s original difficulty and mechanics, there are some quality-of-life changes to make it a bit more friendly. T??his mostly comes down to how you find your way around and how your characters level up. Despite this, there are options to change it to follow the rules of the?? original game more closely.

I haven’t played a Wizardry game to any great l?ength, so my first party got tro??unced by some kobolds. Then, my second party got trounced. I’ve got some learning to do.

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is out on Steam Early Access and GOG today. The downside is that it’s going for $29.99, and the price is supposed to rise as the game is u??pdated. That’s quite steep.

Look, everybody's talking about Starfield. And even if they're not, the conversation is never far away from something Bethesda-adjacent. Case in point: there's been some new footage released of Skyblivion, the upcoming fan remake of Oblivion.

Uploaded to the Heavy Burns YouTube channel, we're treated to 20 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming project, which was showcased at this year's?? Creation Mod Con. In the video, we get to see the Hero of Kvatch engaging in one of the game's many side quests.

//youtu.be/KJ1iqsKKMSo

More specifically, it's the Mazoga the Orc mission that begins in Leyawiin Castle. As in the original game, the quest plays out as normal, complete with the OG voice acting. The major difference here, obviously, is that the Skyblivion versio?n is visually different, thanks to it being done in the Creat??ion Engine.

The Skyrim DNA is definitely there as well, such as the compass and quest markers. Not to mention the anim?ations and character models, but it still plays out like the classic 2006 game.

So what is Skyblivion?

If you're not familiar with this project, Skyblivion is essentially a full remake of The Elder Scrolls 4, but done in Skyrim's engine. The team has been painstakingly (and voluntarily) recreating t??he entire RPG using somewhat more up-to-da?te software.

While the Creation Engine is still very much a Bethesda thing (version 2.0 is being used to develop Starfield), it's now considered quite dated when compared to modern standards. Having said that, it's a step up from Oblivion's Gamebryo engine which, according to Wikipedia, hasn't been used to make a game since 2011.

As for Skyblivion itself, it does look better in this engine. It's still quintessentially Oblivion, but that extra boost in visuals gives it somewhat of a facelift. The modders themselves have been tirelessly working? on it for years, and the end may be in sight.

The video says the game is aiming for a 2025 release. If you want to help out, the team is still taking on additional volunteers. You can also check out the website for more details.

Unsurprisingly, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has been doing pretty well for itself since it released in March. Given the months that have elapsed since then, fans have been finding new ways to entertain themselves in what many consider one of Capcom's be?st games.

One such example comes from YouTube user Xenoxygene (as spotted by PCGamesN), in which they challenge themselves to complete the game without firing a si?ngle bullet ?at an enemy.

//t?witter.com/Xenoxygene/status/1690837674901??274624

The idea? being to make it all the way to the end with a perfectly abysmal accuracy rating of 0%. However, as you can imagine, there were many tribulations to attempting such a thing in a game known for a lot of gunfire.

How did it go?

The first thing Xenoxygene has to establish is what constitutes accuracy in the Resident Evil 4 remake. For starters, killing an enemy with the knife or explosives doesn't count. Neither does the rocke??t launcher, it seems?.

In order to ensure that 0% accuracy was met for each ?level, they made sure to fire at least one bullet into a wall or ceiling so the game would register the gun had been fired, but it hadn??'t hit an enemy.

Obviously, this wouldn't be a c??hallenge if it was easy, ??and the player does come across several obstacles. One such example being the infamous water room, in which Leon has to protect Ashley while she activates cranks.

//youtu.be/MBWi0Obny58

This led Xenoxygene to placin?g mines on the stairs the Zealots would walk by, which would take them out without a bullet being needed.

Sadly, the challenge proved a little too much in Chapter 11, w??hen it became apparent that it wasn't possible to get through the mine cart section without having to use a gun to take out en??emies.

Even a script that was programmed to fire con??tinuously into the ceilin??g in order to bring the accuracy right down couldn't get it below 0.1%.

As such, Xenoxygene was unable to get 0% accuracy across the board, but it's definitely a valiant effort, especially considering th??e tricks that had to be employed in areas where firing a bullet was a necessity. It begs the question of whether anyone can come al?ong and actually finish the challenge.

Given that it was one of the most popular shows on TV back in its prime, it's not surprising there have been a number of video game adaptations of The Simpsons.

Some have been less than impactful, while others have been downright abysmal. However, one that tends to get mentioned (even these days) is Simpsons: Hit & Run, the collective of open world adventures of the titular yellow characters that parodied the likes of GTA.

//youtu.be/AHAY-teQoFc

Now, it's made a comeback. Sort of. That is to say that someone has managed to remake Hit & Run entirely in Unreal Engine 5. Taking a year to complete, developer reubs has now finally managed to do a full recreation from scratch of the iconic 2003 Simpsons game.

Not for public consumption

Sadly, ?reubs says he won't be making his UE5 version available for all to play, stating clearly that this is not a downloadable mod. However, we do get to see the first 30-minutes of this unofficial remake.

There's plenty of content that the developer goes through, showing us the new graphics (with artwork done by technical artist korylonplay) and the new cutscenes. It still has that Simpsons: Hit & Run charm that Radical Entertainment gave us 20 years ago. It just?? looks?? more up-to-date.

For those who remember playing the original, it's a little trip down memory lane. Okay, so we can't play it, which kind of sucks, but you can imagine the litigation that would have to be traversed to get a remake approved by D?isney (which now owns the franchise).

Simpsons writer and joint showrunner Matt Selman has expressed interest in seeing the game get remade, but describes the "complicated corporate octopus to try to make that happen." Given that, reubs' proof-of-concept is probably the closest we'll ever get to a modern take on Hit & Run.

FES Up

We now have confirmation that Atlus' upcoming remake Persona 3 Reload will be coming to PlayStation and Steam platforms alongside its previously announced Xbox and Windows editions. The new ports appeared on the official site in a CERO ?ratings listing, which was then followed by an u??pdated trailer.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RycGltKqjg

While this will hardly come as a s??urprise to most, there were still many only panicking that perhaps the black-and-blue brand would not be making the return journey to Tartarus. Frankly, this wasn't going to happen, not when ??there is so much cash to be made, but at least those who were concerned can rest easy that they will be revisiting The Dark Hour with Messrs Makoto, Junpei, Mitsuru, and company.

First leaked during Summer Game Fest, before being officially announced during Sunday's Xbox Game Showcase, Persona 3 Reload is a full remake of the 2006 PS2 classic. While fans have been craving this title for some title, the hype has been somewhat quashed by the revelation that Reload will not feature any of the content from expanded edition Persona 3 FES, nor the Persona 3 Portable release, which included the much-loved female protagonist, known to the co?mmunity a??s "FemC".

Persona 3 Reload will launch in early 2024 on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms. Additionally, Persona 5 Tactica will launch on the aforementioned platforms and Nint?endo Switch.

Burn my Hype

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the biggest and most exciting announcements of Summer Game Fest has been Atlus' reveal of Persona 3 Reload, a full remake of the classic 2006 PS2 RPG and a title for which fans have been pleadi??ng for the longest time Unfortunately, however, the reveal came with some caveats that have left some in the community a tad disappointed.

First and foremost, Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the vanilla Persona 3 release. As such, it will not contain any of the updated edition content such as story expansion The Answer, or the additional difficulty options. Reload will also not feature the content of Persona 3 Portable, which means no playable female protagonist, lovingly referred to by the community as "FemC". In addition, Persona 3 Reload will also have ?a re-recorded English voice tr?ack, featuring some very notable and talented VAs such as Allegra Clark, Aleks Le, Heather Gonzalez, and Zeno Robinson.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIIPXA2A6cM

Producer Ryota Niitsuma and Director Kazuhisa Wada confirmed the above in comments to IGN.

"First I'd like to mention that since the basic concept of the Persona 3 remake was to remake the Persona 3, we don't have the FES and Portable contents included," said Niitsuma. "We wanted to really genuinely work on recreating the Persona 3 experience [...] So we have newly recorded voices, we have new?? scenes and events. We also have both new and arranged music. We'll be kind of releasing that information, following everything. So please look forward to that."

The news has put a damper on the project for some fans in the community, who took to social media to express their displeasure. The general consensus for aggrieved parties runs along the lines of "If it's not The Definitive Edition, then what's the point even remaking it?" A stance that is, quite honestly, difficult to oppose. The l?oss of the epilogue, a much-loved player protagonist, and the voices that the player has become accustomed to somewhat undercut the initial excitement that greeted the original reveal.

Added to this is the fact that people are assuming Atlus is preparing to simply release a Persona 3 re-remake somewhere down the line, with the original content added. A Re-Reload, so to speak. It should be noted that this is pure guesswork on the players' part, but Atlus has never been shy about courting the big bucks of expanded editions, DLC content, and other post-release add-ons. Ultimately, Persona 3 Reload does look like a great remake, and remains an exciting release, but these revelations have, undeniably, cast a bit of a shadow over one of the summer's biggest an??nouncements.

Persona 3 Reload launches early 2024 ?on Xbox and PC. More platform announcements are expected.

Evoking Hype

Look, let's all just look surprised, ok? It's no one's fault. As part of this afternoon's Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus revealed its long-requested remake of one of the most iconic and beloved RPGs of all-time, in the form of Persona 3 Reload, which you have never heard of before.

Persona 3 Reload is a full remake of the classic PS2 social-sim-cum-demon-catcher, which wowed western fans in 2006 and took the Shin Megami Tensei brand practically mainstream. The story concerns a party of school students who uncover a temporal?? anomaly known as "The Dark Hour". The students in question form the "Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad" (SEES), with the aim of getting to the root of the anomaly and the strange creatures that lay within.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIIPXA2A6cM&ab?_channel=Xbox

Persona 3 was praised for its vivid visual style, attractive and likable cast of characters, and wild soundtrack. The marriage of dungeon-crawler with supah-anime social sim was a huge hit, and would lead to greater success in sequels Persona 4 and Persona 5, as well as an array of multi-genre spin-offs. Fans have been asking for a rem?ake of P3 for many years, and t?his news will be 100 Christmases for those folks.

Persona 3 Reload launches?? early 20?24. It will arrive on Xbox Game Pass day one.

Prep your Evoker

The hopes of the Persona fan community continued to rise as ongoing evidence suggests Atlus is prepping a remake of the much-loved 206 release, Persona 3. While there have already been whispers that said remake was in the works, a new domain purchase by the publisher adds fresh fuel to t??he? fire.

Atlus has recently updated the domain name "P3RE", which has led fans to believe that an announcement pertaining to a Persona 3 Remake or Persona 3 Reloaded is imminent. The "Rel??oaded" suffix would reference the controversial "Evoker" guns used by the characters in-game to travel to Tartarus, the? mysterious, demon0filled world that exists within The Dark Hour.

Given the launch of Summer Game Fest today, there are several key presentations that could see Atlus make the grand reveal, including tonight's kick-off show, hosted by Geoff Keighley, and Sunday's Xbox Games Showcase. Of course, it should be iterated that the Persona 3 remake remains nothing more but speculation at this point. But given the overwhelming success of a simple PC port of Persona 4 Golden, it's easy to assess that a returning P3: FES offered modern visuals and mechanics wo??uld essentially be a license to print money?.

The remake is alive but skipping Ubisoft Forward

Ubisoft is surfacing with an update on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. The project is still ongoing, b??ut so?unds like it has been effectively taken back to the drawing board at Ubisoft Montreal.

In a new update, Ubisoft says the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake is "very much alive" and in the "conception" phase of development. Ubisoft Montreal took over development on the project from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai last year.

Here's producer J??ean-Francois?? Naud on the current status of the remake:

"In terms of the development stage, we're in conception right now. Since we took over the project, we've been looking at feedback from the community and finding ?our own way of delivering the game. Now, we're building up the team, defining the priorities, putting prototypes together, testing elements, and looking at how we can include community feedback in the development as well. It’s still in an early stage, and players should not expect to hear more about the game this year, but rest assured that we’re all putting our strengths and heart into this project."

Alongside that, in an FAQ on the remake's status, Ubisoft confirms there's no plans to remake any other Prince of Persia games. It also confirms there's no release date set and, as said last year, existing ??pre-orders have been canceled and refunded where applicabl?e. Basically, it seems like it's still in very early stages.

If I could turn back time

Since it was first announced in 2020, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been a bit rocky. It's had several delays, alongside the shift from?? its previous studios to Ubisoft Montreal.

Some of the anxiety around Prince of Persia also feels like it's stemming from Ubisoft's current state. The publisher has canceled several projects, and seen games like Skull & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 sit on the backburner for quite some time.

There's also been some unrest at the publisher, and recent layoffs too. All this is to say, the upcoming Ubisoft Forward—which Prince of Persia will be skipping—seems like it's time for the publi??sher to try and chart its new course.

Horror Almost Unreal (5)

Bloober Team has revealed the launch date for its long-in-development release, Layers of Fear The highly technical psychological horror title will l??aunch on PC and Gen9 platforms on June 15, with a time-limited demo available to play on PC from now? until May 22.

Built in Unreal 5 for MAXIMUM TERROR, Layers of Fear is a remade compendium of both Layers of Fear (2016) and Layers of Fear 2 (2019), along with all previously released DLC and a brand new concludin??g chapter, titled The Writer. Developer Anshar Studios is hoping that the in?credible technical acumen of Unreal 5 will allow for a truly immersive and unsettling experience, as players pick their way through a shifting environment trapped, lost, and attacked by no less than the twisted mind of the self.

"We are thrilled to announce the release date for Layers of Fear and to bring this definitive horror experience to players,??" writes Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. "With the power of Unreal Engine 5, we’ve been able to create a game that visually surpasses our previous works, delivering an unforgettable journey into the minds of tormented artist??s. We are excited for both new and returning players to jump in."

Bloober Team also released the PC requirements, ?which you can check o??ut above.

The demo will give fans an opportunity to check that their rig is up to handling the high visual standards of this new edition, which utilizes 4K resolution, HDR, and Ray-Tracing, whil??e also enhancing its lighting, reflection, and particle techniques with some of the most modern graphics tools available. Dedicated Layers of Fear fans will be able to enjoy new mechanics and twists on the original gameplay, while newcomers can experience the entire story of both titles and their DLC expansions seamlessly branched together.

It's too scary for me, is what I'm ?basically saying.

Bada Bingo

Today sees the release of Capcom's long-awaited Resident Evil 4 remake, which launches on PlaySt??ation, PC, and Xbox platforms after much hype and hoopla And it seems that the title is already seeing top-tier levels of success, setting the series' best-ever player record on PC gaming dashboard, Steam.

According to the Steam database, an amazing 140,240 players were simultaneously logged in and making their way through the Uroboros-infested nightmare earlier today. This number represents the highest amount of Steam user concurrently playing any Resident Evil release at any one time, including previous remakes Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, as well as modern mainline sequels Resident Evil VII: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village.

Clearly, the nostalgia factor of the original Resident Evil 4 still considered a series highlight some 18 years on from its initial GameCube release will help drive the new 2023 edition to incredible success. The launch of the highly anticipated title is set to kick off what is expected to be a stellar year for Capcom, with dinosaur hunter Exoprimal and the stellar-looking Street Fighter 6 waiting in the wings for the coming quarters. The publisher will no doubt be quick to let us all know how RE4's week one sales work out, as players don the sheepskin co??at of Leon S. Kenne??dy for another trip into a living hell.

Resident Evil 4 is available now on PlayStation, PC (Steam), and Xbox Series X. The additional Mercenaries mode will arrive as a free update on April 7.

Who doesn't love an escort mission?

Capcom has released the second episode of Leon and the Mysterious Village, the short-but-adorable anime series produced to help fan the flames of hype for this week's highly anticipated Resident Evil 4.

The second episode, titled "A Promise Between the Two", sees young Leon Kennedy come face-to-face with missing girl Ashley Graham, whom he must escort out of the strange town and, presumably, back to The White House. Of course, as Resident Evil 4 veterans will be more than aware, keeping Ashley out of the hands of the village's weird dooms??day cult is easier said than done. Leon, Help indeed.

A ground-up remake of the 2005 GameCube classic, the hotly-anticipated release captures all of the creepy cult shenanigans. gory head-splitting chaos, and panicky damsel-in-distress action of the original title, spruced up with brilliant new visuals, alternate twists on the narrative, and sporting an overhauled approach to its movement and combat mechanics. Now with 100% more flaming cow atrocity

It was pretty rad of the Capcom krew to give us all a taste of blood this weekend, courtesy of what has come to be known as the Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw Demo For fans across the globe, these past two days offered run after run of the same 20 minutes of gameplay, pulled from the opening of the upcoming survival horror remake. Though not without its own share of secrets and surprises.

I have to admit, The Resident Evil 4 Remake is sure looking and playing exactly how I thought The Resident Evil 4 Remake was going to lo??ok and play. That's not a negative review, far from it, but with a game as beloved as the 2005 classic, you knew that the developer was unlikely stray too far from the general concepts of the original release, albeit bolstered with fancy new graphics and a few welcome combat techniques. Did you know you carry parry a pitchfork? Well, you do now, son.

It certainly isn't a good time for animals, with the appearance of a butchered deer, a stain that was once a rabbit, a dog that, apparently, cannot be rescued, and a particularly rough moment where a cow is accidentally set alight, becoming a flaming fireball destroying all in its path. Well, they d?on't call it Survival Good Times, after all. The visuals are understandably fab, and the more claustrophob??ic atmosphere of the surrounding woodland definitely improves upon the original release. Leon still dives through closed windows, so they remembered the important stuff.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXzRRKMxUc4&ab_channel=PlayStatio??n

I think the remake is looking very solid, though the demo didn't set me, personally, on fire like that cow. Will I play the full game? Sure, in time, but I'm not in a rush to charge through Resident Evil 4 and its giant statue puzzle once again. Not unless they include the jet-ski glitch. For the dedicated fan??, however, I imagine the demo has stoked the hype fires a little even if Leon does move like he's carrying rock??s in his back pockets...

...Ah well, at least he's mastered the art of walking while? aiming.

But this isn't about what I think of the demo, we wanna know what you think of the demo. Did you check it out? Once? twice? 30 times? Have you uncovered the secrets? What have they improved? What do you think still needs a little work? For 15 minutes of gameplay, there's a surprising amou??nt to be said, so dro??p into Destructoid's big bingo card below and have your say.

MUSH ROOM ON YOUR SSD.

PlayStation Blog has released the specifications for the incoming PC port of Naughty Dog remake The Last of Us Part I, and they're unsurprisingly meaty, given the Gen 9 tech and general visual brilliance of the 2022 PS5 relea??se.

Anybody looking for a steady 60 FPS at 1080P will need to rock a rig with an Intel i7-800 CPU and an 8GB nVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3060 or equivalent. Those looking for "Ultr?a" settings, for example players looking for a 4K experience, will need an Intel Core i5-12600K CPU and a pricey NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4080 or equivalent.

You can chec?k out the?? full "Minimum" to "Ultra" specifications in the image below.

//twitter.com/Naughty_Dog/status/16??33875501759737856?s=20

Whatever your setup, you'll need an SSD footprint of 100GB to store all of those lovely textures, visual effects, and hours and hours of dialogue. The PC edit??ion of Naughty Dog's glumfest will also include additional features such as new resolution options for ultrawide monitors, as well as 3D audio support, and adjustable sliders for texture quality, shadows, and ambient occlusion, among other elements.

The Last of Us Part I launches on PC (via Steam) on March 28. The celebrated remake will be made available in standard format, or a Digital Deluxe Edition which includes early weapon unlocks and additional weapon skins. The Last of Us Part I is available now on PS5.

Trial of Terror

During tonight's Capcom Spotlight presentation, it was announced, as rumored, that a special "Chainsaw Demo" for incoming remake Resident Evil 4 is going live today on ?all platforms Eager players can download? the demo on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), and Xbox Series X/S.

The demo will give us all a taste of how Capcom is handling the remake of what is not only one of the most beloved titles in the Resident Evil franchise, but one of the most popular titles in gaming history. We will once again step into a mysterious European village with Leon S. Kennedy, as he searches f?or the missing President's daughter, Ashley Graham, who has seemingly been abducted by a strange and mysterious cult.

The Resident Evil 4 demo will offer up the infamous village assault that opens Leon's terrifying? adventure. OF course, "Chainsaw Demo" refers to the notorious chainsaw-wielding maniac that attack Leon during this sequence. As opposed to other recent Reside??nt Evil demos, the Chainsaw Demo has no time limit, and can be run and re-run as many times as you wish, scratching that itch ahead of the full game's incoming launch. Have fun, and don't lose your head.

You can almost feel the chainsaw on your eyes

We are a sliver under a month away from the launch of Resident Evil 4, easily one of the most highly anticipated remakes of all time And for those of you who want a truly immersive experience with the Los I??lluminados, Capcom is developing an immersive virtual reality experience for th??e PS5 edition and its related PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2) hardware.

"VR mode for Resident Evil 4 has started development! Stay tuned for more details!reads a new tweet from the Japanese Resident Evil Twitter account, before later adding "The VR mode of Resident Evil 4 will?? be distributed as free DLC for PlaySt??ation5 / PlayStation VR 2."

//twitter.com/BIO_OFFICIAL/status/1628309614843??559937?s=20

One can only assume that the new mode for Resident Evil 4 will see players go face-to-face with some of the terrifying mutants of the iconic survival horror title, which first freaked out video game fans the world over on its initial releas?e, way back in 2005. If you ever fancied looking one of the horrifying Regenerators, dead in the eye in full 3D, then you'll soon?? have the opportunity.

Also, what's wrong with you?

Resident Evil 4 VR will not be the only virtual reality experience coming to the Capcom franchise this year, as Resident Evil Village is receiving its own virtual reality equivalent today on PlayStation 5. Resident Evil Village VR lets players step into the shoes of Ethan Winters as he goes toe-to-toe with terrifying characters such as Heisenberg, Lady Dimitrescu, and, of course, that baby. Yikes.

Resident Evil 4 launches March 24 on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox Series ??X.

Carpenter weighs in on EA's latest release on Twitter

Serving as the director and composer for over a dozen horror classics, including Halloween, The Thing, and The Fog, John Carpenter has secured his role as one of the greatest horror filmmakers of all time. Fans of his films might not know that Carpenter is also something of a gamer, having expressed an interest in the Fallout, Horizon, and Borderlands series.

Well, if you missed this detail in the past as I did, now we know that Carpenter is keeping up with the latest horror games, as he took to Twitter (with his aptly-chosen handle @TheHorrorMaster) yesterday to profess his love for EA's Dead Space remake -- more specifically, he called it a "great game!" exclamation point included. With so many games trying to imitate cinema,?? it's really cool to know a film legend who sees the legitimacy and artistic value in the interactive medium.

//twitter.com/TheHorrorMast??er/status/1619855538589937665

In an interview with AV Club last year, Carpenter also let in on the fact that he wants to make a Dead Space movie. "I could do that," he said. Not only do I think you could do it, Mr. Carpenter, but I think you'd knock it out of the park. The cold confined indoor space of the Ishimura would be familiar territory for him, especially after helping to create The Thing's setting of an isolated Antarctic research site. I think we're due for another clau?strophobic space horror flick, and this fra??nchise would be a match made in heaven with Carpenter.

We're already in the middle of a flood of gaming adaptations, such as HBO's The Last of Us series, Amazon's upcoming Fallout series, and a Borderlands movie. Even amidst all these cool projects, I think John Carpenter's take on the Dead Space series would put them all to shame.

(Re)make us whole again

It’s been 15 years since Dead Space first hit the Xbox 360, and a lot has happened since then. Survival horror and action games have evolved a lot in that timeframe. With the prospect of reviving a dormant but well-remember??ed franchise, EA Motive has quite a task.

For the most part, though, Motive has managed to revive the spirit while reimagining the container. The Dead Space remake frequently surprised me, both in how it put twists on familiar moments and still held true to the spirit of the original. Those fans who have been hoping for their limb-cutting, boot-stomping blend of action and body horror to arrive should be satisfied in Motive’s take on Dead Space.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctQl9wa3ydE

Dead Space (PS5 [reviewed], Xbox Series X|S, PC)
Developer: Motive
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Released: January 27, 2023
MSRP: $69.99

The crux of Dead Space is still the same: engineer Isaac Clarke and a small band of operatives are responding to a distress call from the planet-cracking USG Ishimura, a station that’s also home to Isaac’s long-distance partner Nicole. A crash-landing leads the crew to begin exploring a ship that’s clearly fallen into disrepair, and they soon learn why as screaming, terrifying horrors dubbed “necromorphsstart crawling out of the air ducts, straight for their thro?ats.

Some of the most noticeable differences between Motive’s remake and the original Dead Space are in the story. To be clear, broad story beats are still intact. But the way they happen, how characters are introduced or even possibly perish are changed, and things just play out a bit differently than you may remember. It’s not quite at the scale of Resident Evil 2, but there’s enough that I kept opening up old videos and surprising myself at how Motive had reimagined this story??.

Even the way Isaac gets from chapter to chapter has changed, thanks to a few new ways for him to get around the Ishimura. The zero-gravity moment from later Dead Space replaces the swimmer-kick-and-launch from the 2008 Dead Space, and the results are pretty great. I did find reorienting was?? a bit awkward, so I spent a decent chunk of my zero-G time flying parallel to the “floor.Still, sections that felt a bit stiff in the original n??ow feel way more fluid and mobile in the remake.

[caption id="attachment_359830" align="alignnone" width="640"]Dead Space Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Speaking of stiff, forget the old turret sequences. Rather than sitting in a chair and firing cannons at asteroids, the turret-centric portions take on a mo?re active approach. I won’t say too much more, but M?otive took those, some of my least favorite sequences in the original, and made them some standout sections.

The tram is also a bit different, serving as the fast-travel hub for a much more open Ishimura. Node doors have been done away with, and you’re encouraged to backtrack more through Isaac’s Security Clearance level, which bumps up at different points in the story. It makes sections where you’re treading back through old haunts feel a bit fresher, as there may be new treasure to d??iscover.

Something th??at I didn’t gel quite as well with were the side quests. Motive has introduced a few side quests that expand the narrative of the game, diving deeper into certain characters or different sides of the Ishimura crew. While I enjoyed the drive and some of the content itself, actually back-tracking for these objectives felt a bit hollow, as it usually just meant walking back through old corridors, following my basketball-dribble waypoint line to its next target. Some are gated by security level too, something you might not realize until you get there and find out you can’t open the right door yet.

When the narrative takes drastically different turns, though, it really works. A few moments have some massive added drama and tension, characters from the original shine in new ways, and the remade versions of them look fantastic. Isaac even speaks and removes the helmet a few times, with his Dead Space 2 and 3 voice actor Gunner Wright lending his voice. It works really well, and builds up the ??big dramatic swings very well.

[caption id="attachment_359826" align="alignnone" width="640"]Dead Space Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

Visually, Dead Space looks great. I mostly stuck to Performance mode on my PlayStation 5, opting for the 60 FPS that made the action feel crisp and responsive. Even then, when not on the ultra-high scale settings, Dead Space looks good. Seeing all the rusted metal and occasional glints of light, contrasting the shadows where fleshy, lumpen necromorphs waited to pounce, felt like seeing Dead Space the way I remembered it.

Still, so much of what drew me to Dead Space is still here. Isaac is an engineer, trying to survive on a mining ship, so his implements and ?arsenal are all improvised from? tools not normally meant for such violence. The Plasma Cutter rips through limbs, the Ripper slices through bodies, and the Force Gun lets out a deafening boom with each discharge. And yes, the chopping is still good. Blowing off a necromorph’s claw, grabbing it with Kinesis and sending it flying back still feels great.

There’s something about this era of game design that still shines through, and still hasn’t been lost in the update. Dead Space rarely wrests the controller away from me. And everything in its world is reactive and tumbling into each other. In one zero-G section, I was trying to line up an explosive container, to blast towards a pes??ky wall-clinging necromorph, when it lunged at me. I dodged to the side, still holding onto the container with my Kinesis ability, and watched as it slammed face-first into the barrel and blew itself up. It would’ve been brilliant had I planned it, but was even better in the way I hadn’t.

[caption id="attachment_359823" align="alignnone" width="640"]Dead Space Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

My absolute favorite moment of playing the remake happened during a tense fight. Necromorphs were crawling ou??t of vents and gutters, cornering me on a narrow walkway, and I pulled out my Line Gun. I figured putting a laser trap on a handrail would give me a nice way to stem the tide, and slow down my pursuers as I fought for better ground. My shot went a little wi??de though, and instead of landing on the rail, it attached itself to a necromorph’s head.

Rather t?han shutting off, the laser activated. Now, normally, the laser would act as a wire, running from its origin point to an endpoint directly across, slicing enemies in half as they tried to walk through it. Well, that origin point was now attached to an angry necromorph’s head, and the laser no?w emitting from his dome was whipping around the room, like I had startled Cyclops from the X-Men.

These moments, of interactivity and reactivity, are the heart of Dead Space for me. I don’t think it’s particularly scarier than?? other action-leaning survival horror games. It’s certainly demanding, asking me to count my inventory and savor every health pack, making calculated risks by selling items for precious nodes that can upgrade my weapons or armor. Isaac is slow and not meant for acrobatics, and the weapons can feel clunky in a go??od way, mirroring how Isaac is repurposing his Space Home Depot loadout for real-time alien downsizing. Stomps made my haptics rumble, and instant deaths were brutal and quick, punctuated by the trademark flatline blaring in my speakers.

[caption id="attachment_359829" align="alignnone" width="640"]Dead Space Screenshot by Destructoid[/caption]

What Dead Space still nails, alongside the atmosphere and a story that’s given some extra momentum from Motive’s tweaks, is the fast and evolving survival situations. It’s walking into a room, seeing a red barrel in one corner and some stompab?le crates in another, and knowing you’re about to get ambushed. It’s questioning every air vent you see, an??d smiling when the game’s intensity director gives it a little spin, just to keep you on your toes. It is my wildly flailing laser??-head zombie, slashing up his compatriots and taking a chunk out of me in the process. I couldn’t even be mad. It was just good.

Ther??e are some hitches that I ran into, from some odd menu fuzziness to pick-ups that would stubbornly refuse to be picked up, and even some weird save issues—nothing that killed my progress, but definitely enough to keep m??e a bit cautious.

It feels great to just dive back into the USG Ishimura, though. Dead Space as a concept still holds up, and the reworking EA Motive has provided highlights its best features while shoring up old pitfalls. Sci-fi survival horror fans should get what they want out of this: the return of a classic, with gorgeous graphics and some new twists, but the? same o?ld boot-stomping good time.

The next Fortnite collab drops just in time for the Dead Space Remake

As one of the most popular games in the world, Fortnite is known for a whole host of different things, but its most famous feature is probably its huge variety of crossover events. They've teamed up with everyone from Star Wars to Ariana Grande, and now Fortnite is back with their Gaming Legends Series to collaborate with yet another iconic video game protagonist: Isaac Clarke of Dead Space fame. Clarke serves as the player character of all three Dead Space games, and is described as a "ship system specialist and necromorph slayer" by Fortnite's blog post. Yeah, that sounds about right to me.

Clarke is coming to Fortnite in the?? new Strange Transmissions Quest Pack, which will be available in the Item Shop for $11.99. The pack will include the Isaac Clarke Outfit, the RIG Back Blind, the Plasma Cutter Pickaxe (which comes with a built-in Bench Upgrade Emote), and the Strange Transmissions Quests that can earn you up to 1,500 V-Bucks.

This Fortnite x Dead Space collaboration lands only four days before the long-awaited Dead Space Remake, which is officially out on Friday January 27, 2023. Now fans will be able to get extra hyped-up by taking on the new Strange Transmissions qu?ests, and I expect we'll be seeing a ton of Isaac Clarke's flying ar??ound Battle Royale Island soon enough.

Don't Come!

Forever Entertainment has announced that MegaPixel Studios shooter The House of the Dead: Remake will bring its deca??ying destruction to PS5 on January 20, following on from its previous releases on PS4, Xbox, PC,? and Nintendo Switch platforms.

First launched in the spring of 2022, The House of the Dead: Remake is a fully overhauled revisit to Sega's widely popular 1997?? arcade release, and follows special agents Rogan and G as they once again infiltrate the mysterious Gothic mansion of god-complex motherfucker Dr. Curien. What follows is a particularly splashy battle with a wide variety of disgusting zombies, weird mutants, vampire bats, chainsaw-wielding hillbillies, and bizarre, wall-running gremlins. Just r?emember to aim for the head.

MegaPixel's remake of the iconic, gory rail-shooter captures all of the grim, fast-paced action and multi-pathed, breathless gameplay of the original release, while also offering fully redesigned visuals, new monsters, an arsenal of additional weaponry, multiple endings, gallery and photo modes, and a brand new "Horde" style multiplayer variant. The PS5 version of HotD: Remake also features some additional? visual polish from its?? previously released PS4 brethren.

The House of the Dead: Remake launches digitally on PS5 January ?20. It is available right now on PS4, Xbox, PC (via Steam and GoG), and Nintendo Switch.

Humanity Ends Here

While the actual release is still two weeks out, publisher Electronic Arts is hoping to get the hype fires going with a new "launch trailer" for its highly anticipated remake, Dead Space. The iconic interstellar horror title ??makes its grand return January 27 on PC and ninth gen co??nsole platforms.

The dramatic, explosive trailer somewhat belies the sinister, slow creep and sense of pervading dread that punctuates Dead Space, making it appear som?ething more of an action m?ovie than a survival horror title. But, as fans will know, the 2008 original was one of the finest examples of the genre, and there's no telling how studio Motive has been able to bolster the excitement, adventure, and nerve-wracking tension of Visceral Games' seminal work.

Having been around the rumor mill more than enough times one would care to remember, the Dead Space remake was finally announced in the summer of 2021, with fans eagerly twiddling their thumbs for the past two years, eager to get their hands on the long-awaited title. The remake retains the narrative of the original game, as engineer Isaac Clarke investigates a distress signal sent by planetary mining vessel the USG Ishimura. Once aboa?rd, Clarke discovers that matters have taken a turn far wors??e than anyone could have imagined, it what becomes a violent, terrifying fight for truth and survival.

More Isaac for your buck

If you're keen on revisiting the Dead Space series ahead of the remake releasing this month, the Steam pre-order has a neat incentive. Pre-ordering the Dead Space remake on Steam before January 27 will net you the second game in the series, Dead Space 2, for free.

As spotted by VG247, the Steam pre-order has a special deal going. Picking up Dead Space through either its base version or slightly-more-expensive Digital Deluxe version will net you a free copy of Dead Space 2. And if you've already pre-purchased the remake, you should receive a copy of Dead Space 2.

While it might feel a bit disorienting to get the sequel to the original as a tie-in for the original's remake, this does net you two absolutely stellar sci-fi survival horror gems. The Dead Space series has garnered acclaim over the years, and for good reason. The first two are prime examples of action-oriented sci-fi horror. The third game? Well, that's a different story.

Space-based savings

It's a nice upside for those who want to dip back into the series ahead of the remake, or maybe have the second lined up to play after they finish the remake. That date isn't too far off, either. EA Motive's Dead Space is set to launch on January 27, 2023 for PC, ??as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

While a remake of one of sci-fi's survival classics is already a strong pitch, survival horror fans are also probably hungry for Dead Space's return. The Callisto Protocol stumbled out of the gate at the end ?of 2022. And now, a remake of a major inspiration is just around the corner. It could be a big one for survival horror fans. We'll see how Isaac and the crew fare?? on new tech in just a few weeks.

Developer looks to 'safely' modernize 2001 horror classic

When it was finally revealed that the horror-lovin' developer Bloober Team would be producing a remake of Konami's Silent Hill 2, there were some grumblings from the peanut gallery, with some fans feeling that the Layers of Fear and The Medium developer might not be up to the task in handli?ng the beloved 2001 release

Perhaps sensing said concern, (or simply after reading all of the complaints on social media), Bloober Team has noted its intention to present a faithful and authentic ada?ptation of the survival horror classic, one which will capture the spirit and heavy atmosphere of the original title while modernizing some of its more dated ele?ments.

"We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernized Silent Hill 2. Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us 'missing the point' while we’re livening up the title." said marketing chief Anna Jasińska in an interview with DreadXP. "We will? faithfully stick to the traditional story canon while rem??aking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up."

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qP??dInnvMzg&ab_chan?nel=Konami

Anna cites specific examples that will be tweaked in the remake include the use of the in-game camera, as well as the combat mechanics. Jasińska descr?ibes the team as taking a "very safe approach" to any of the proposed in-game changes, but is committed to ensuring that the remake will present a modern and contemporary edition of the now 20-year-o??ld PS2 title.

If I may play Devil's Advocate, Marge, I'm willing to give Bloober Team the benefit of the doubt. I think that Layers of Fear, The Medium, and Observer offered creepy atmosphere, psychological horror, and suitably unnerving visuals, and the Polish developer has shown growth with each consecutive release. While tampering with a stone-cold classic is packed with untold risk, those are, unfortunately, the breaks that com?e with getting a remake at all. There is definitely a mighty, thankless task ahead.

We'll see whether Bloober Team is able to prove all of its doubters wrong when Silent Hill 2 remake finally emerges from the fog. In the meantime, check out the full interview over on DreadXP.

Nightdive Studios insist game finally ready to rock

Developer Nightdive Studios has announced that its troubled, long-in-development remake of sci-fi horror classic System Shock is entering its final development phases, and is officially expected to launch on PC, via Steam, this coming?? March.

One can forgive fans for eyeing this news with suspicion, as the System Shock remake has been through a helluva lot of delays and licensing troubles ever since its initial announcement way back in 2016. Since then, System Shock has been tentatively announced for several release windows, from 2017 through 2020 and into 2021. In a new update on the project's Kickstarter page, however, Nightdive Studios openl??y ackn??owledges the remake's delayed development.

"As some of you have already pointed out this is not our first time announcing a tentative launch window, but over the past few years much has changed the scope and scale of the project has evolved dramatically and with Prime Matter joining the project it’s enabled us to focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support the last major steps towards releasing a game we’re all incredibly proud of." writes the team?? on Kickstarter.

"This has also given us time to go back and polish various aspects of the game that needed that e??xtra shine."

//www.youtube??.com/watch?v=vWUYz9x_I18&ab_channel=NightdiveStudios

In addition to the release window, developer Prime Matter has released several new images, showcasing the locations, enemies, and weapons that will be encountered by the player as they pick their way through Citadel Station en route to a fatef?ul encounter with the terrifying rogue A.I.: SHODAN. A few short in-game clips are featured, but unfortunately, there is no full trailer, which will hopefully be incoming soon.

The launch of System Shock will finally put the long development cycle to rest, and will hopefully result in a faithful recreation of one of the genuine classics of the sci-fi/horror genre. It's understandably tough to approach this release with 100% confidence, given the multitude of hurdles it has had to clear en route to fruition. System Shock is a hugely beloved game, a genuine classic in an era that tosses that phrase around liberally. It remains to be seen whether the problems faced over the past six years of development will have hindered the studios' desire to ?pay it fair tribute. We shall see soon enough.

System Shock launches March 2023 on PC.

Live A Live

When I first covered the rumor that Square Enix was reaching well into its own past to dig up long-lost Super Famicom release Live A Live, I will admit that, despite being pleased with the preservation element, I didn't really think that the endeavor would amount to much. After all, various '90s classics have been resurrected time and again, only to fall short of their former glories or, in the worst cases, miss the point entirely.

But Live A Live was something different. Live A Live, launched in 1994 at the tail-end of the 16-bit reign, was both ambitious and way ahead of its time. The unknown release featured a slew of characters and worlds, multiple backstories, and a fascinating chrono-conundrum set against the backdrop of eight different time periods from prehistory and Imperial China, to the American Midwest and the far-flung f??uture.

To build this complex story complete with wildly different stylistic settings for the humble Super Famicom was an incredible feat, and conceptually beyond anything available on the console at the time. A feat readily achieved by director Takashi Tokito (Parasite Eve, Chrono Trigger), designer Nobuyuki Inoue (Sword of Mana, Mother 3), composer Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts), and the rest of Sq?uare's talented RPG sector known as Development Division 5.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbzZl49kklU&a?b_channel=Destructoid

And yet, despite the high praise received for the title at launch, Live A Live would never officially see the light of day outside of its native Japan. Launched just too late for the suits, already eyeing up the fledgling 32-bit market, Live A Live would not be localized for western audiences, spoken of only via word of mouth, gaming magazines, and new?sletters... And now, it is readily available for Nintendo S?witch.

Developed by Square's Team Asano, and overseen by Tokita himself, the Live a Live remake wisely avoids tampering with the original title too much, merely cleaning up the visuals, accurately translating the dialogue, and offering small tweaks to elements of its gameplay, control, and U.I to better present the title on modern technology to modern audiences. The delightful characters and worlds were redrawn by Naoki Ikushima, while Shimomura, having lost the master tapes, recomposed the entire soundtrack by ear a task she admitted held momentous weight, given fans' love of the game's score.

Finally released in the summer of this year, the Live A Live remake retains all of its power to capture and charm an audience's imagination. Importantly, it finally cements over a large pothole in the history of developer Square Enix, and sees one of the most pioneering and ambitious RPG releases ever developed to players young and old, many of whom now have the opportunity to e??xperience this fine adventure for the very first time.

It may have taken almost three decades, but Live A Live can finally bask in its long-deserved spotlight.

Only a few more weeks of waiting

The Dead Space remake is one of the most anticipated games of 2023, and it's right around the corner as we near its January 27 release date. The team at Motive Studio have just completed the final step before release: they've gone gold! For those who?? may not know, this simply means that the team has fin??alized a version of the game that they're happy with, and sent it off to begin the physical manufacturing process to be made into discs, and to get the digital version ready to go up on its various platforms. It's a huge milestone at the end of the development process, and while it doesn't necessarily guarantee the game will come out on its announced release date, it's a good sign that there likely won't be a delay between now and January 27. Woohoo!

//twitter.com/Moti??veStudio/status/1603??480192755851278

The studio took to Twitter to announce their gold status, announcing "WE ARE WHOLE AGAIN" to the entire world. Nothing like an ominous yet celebratory tweet to get me in the mood for some spooky space adventures. I admittedly didn't play the original Dead Space series out of fear, but now that I'm getting better with horror games, I'm thinking this time it's gonna be worth a ??shot.

Motive Studio was created by Jade Raymond, an executive known for helping to create the Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs series, under the larger EA umbrella. Motive created two games within the Star Wars franchise in 2017 and 2020, Battlefront II and Squardons, before deciding to shift their focus back to the beloved Dead Space series. In addition to the remake, Motive also announced that they're working on an Untitled Iron Man game for Marvel, which should be interesting to see as it will likely come around near the same time as Insomniac's Wolverine adaptation.

Dead Space will be available for PC, Play??Station 5, and ?Xbox Series X/S on January 27, 2023.

If you haven't played it, it's new to you

One might assume that the dawning of a new gaming generation would essentially bring an end to the flurry of remasters and remakes that we saw flood the market in the most recent decade. But of course not. ??Much like the film industry, the concept of taking a second pass at some beloved (and even not-so-beloved classics) is clearly here to stay with no sign from?? the cash registers that it isn't still a hugely lucrative endeavor.

2022 contained two very extreme examples of the remaster/remake concept, namely in the form of Square Enix sliding-door RPG Live a Live and Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part I. On one hand, we had a long-lost RPG dating back to 1994 and Nintendo's Super Famicom, while on the other we had a remake of a game less than 10 years old one that had already been remastered at that.

It will be interesting to see how blurry the lines become in regards to how long is "long enough"? And while I have zero problem with the concept of remakes and remasters per se, it's worth raising an eyebrow ??at the idea that each new generation of hardware immediately requires the re-establishment of the previous generation's best-selling games. Not franchises. Games. Time and the creativity of the next wave of studios, developers, and players will tell.

A little less forgiving than his ancestors

Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has released an action-packed trailer for its upcoming remake Like a Dragon: Ishin! spotlighting hero Sakamoto Ryoma as they embark upon a claret-spewing quest of honor and violence, set against the backdrop of 17th-century Japan.?? It looks to be a pretty brutal affair.

The Like a Dragon: Ishin! trailer focuses specifically on the remaster's combat mechanics, and sees our stoic protagonists engage with an army of samurai, ninja, and mercenary soldiers utilizing several different fighting styles that all lead to the same result: a lot of blood and a lot of bodies. We see Sakamoto demonstrate four arts in all Swordsman, Gunman, Wild Dancer, and Brawler as he battles his way past insurmountable odds on his mission of vengeance. Sakamoto's wrath sees him lay waste to the opposition with fists, feet, cold steel, hot lead, and even a combination of all four simul?taneously!

His enemies best just stay home today.

//youtu.be/LQhLakRCEvQ

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a long, long, long-awaited localization of the 2014 PS3 release Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! brought up to speed with the power of Unreal Engine 4. Ishin! concerns the events of ronin Sakamoto Ryoma, an ancient ancestor of Like a Dragon protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, as they search for the killer of the father in the Bakamatsu age of Japan's Edo era. While it has been an exceptionally long wait for series fans, this remake looks set to deliver, freshly repainted?? and given a serious gamepla??y boost.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! l??aunches on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms on February 23.
