This opening paragraph is norm??ally t??he part I write last and, as such, I am writing it whilst still hungover from a stag-do last night, so I apologise if I get a word wrong here or tehre.

(For those in the land of the non-tea-lovers, a stag-do means "bachelor p???arty.")

Procedurally generated doom

We're about ready to start off another day of live broadcasting on Dtoid TV, beginning with a little Legend of Dungeon. Jordan and I recently played this to kick off our new video series, Wake Up!, and I'm prett??y hooked on this slightly silly, procedurally generated dungeon crawler now. So, we're grabbing my lovely wife (metaphorically) and bringing her in on the fun.

And, of course, we'll play the week's?? Xbox Live Indie Games releases which, strangely, look like there may be a decent title or two in the bunch. The whole wonderful mess will start at 10 am Pacific, so be here??. Or be there. Just be somewhere where you can watch.

This week saw the release of a new game from freeware developer Locomalito, which has inspired us to take a look at their whole catalog of titles which blend and remix classic mechanics to produ?ce games which feel like their inspirations and yet wholly different at the same time.

Today on Saturday Morning Hangover, I knew we were going to have something special going on. See, my wife fancies herself quite the Foosball player and is extremely competitive, so I thought it would be fun to see how she does at Foosball 2012 for the PlayStation 3. It was either going to end in her over-excitedly bragging (hilarious) or shrieking over the agony of defeat (also hilarious), and she did? not disappoint.

But that's not all! We played the week's supply of fresh Xbox Live Indie Games demos and there were some standout titles. Smatter is a twin stick shooter with an exploration bent that was quite fun, while Retro Arcade Adventure Remade provided a really solid hack-and-slash experience. And we remake the video for Dire Strait's "Money For Nothing" while playing Uproar!.

All this, plus a trip to the Dafoeverse. Could there have been some cheeky monkeys playing April Fools this week??? Oh, there just might...

Watch Saturday Morning Hangover every weekend on Dtoid TV!

We had a truly wonderful time on Saturday Morning Hangover today??. It was a send off to our set, as we prepare to move to a new location, and it went out with style. 

The Xbox Live Indie demos were mostly sequels this week, with games like DLC Quest: Fremium or Die on one end of the quality spectrum and Island Paradise II: Karma on another. But Dead Sea II: Mutation has bi-pedal sharks which eat human heads in a single bite, so all is not lost. And make sure you check out Zippy Push Kid, which surprised us with how much fun it was.

And then there was the Dafoeverse, which has discovered even greater depths of madness. Abstract art pieces (clearly of Dafoe; why else would they be there?) have started appearing and the characters of ??Team Dafoetress 2 get their day in the sun.

Then, to top it all off, Jordan and Katrina are introduced to the 1990 Capcom arcade title Magic Sword. Watch as my wife criticizes the graphics, shallow plot and reinforcement of trop??es only to wind up being the one gripping the controller when the game is finished. Del?icious.

Watch Saturday Morning Hangover every weekend on Dtoid TV!

We had another passably entertaining time on Saturday Morning Hangover this week. We checked out Dollar Dash, recently released on Xbox Live Arcade and wound up with some mixed opinions. I thought it was pretty fun, though the AI opponents are perhaps a bit too challenging. Jordan started to get a little tired of it by the end and Katr?ina... well, Katrina doesn't like anything she isn't immediately good at. You'll see how that goes.

As ever, we also played the week's Xbox Live Indie Games demos. Battle High 2 was a pleasant surprise, a considerable improvement of our memories of the first fighting game to bear the name. Master of the Seven Teas is a cute, piratey adventure on a small scale which was charming, apart from some questionable control design. And Cootie Crusher was?? just strange enough to keep me playing three levels longer than we rightfully should have.

All this, plus a trip ??to the Dafoeverse where the existence of Drowning Pool's "Bo??dies" is finally justified. It proves that God had a plan all along!

We had a delightful little Saturday Morning Hangover this morning, playing the recently released Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds. Jordan, Katrina and I all piled on in this one and found i?t to be an enjo??yable beat-em-up, if a bit demanding and technical. Also, Katrina is deceptively good at fighting games, something I would do well to remember in the future.

The week's Xbox Live Indie demos were also played, though there wasn't really anything too exciting, other than a match-3 game, Candies vs. Hypnodeer that amused Jordan for a good bit. I was interested in Chromathud (and may yet give that another go), and you'll be astounded by the revelation which is Break. Totally.

All this, plus another trip down the glorious Rabbid hole that is the Dafoeverse for more of your homages to the greatest actor living today, ?including an incredibly meta drawing of our show surfing the Dafoeverse. It's like staring into infinity and finding it full of spiders!

This week on Saturday Morning Hangover, I took Jordan and the lovely Katrina on a journey back to my childhood and shared with them one of my favorite competitive games ever, Dashin' Desperadoes for the Sega Genesis. It's a two-player, split-screen racing platformer where two cowboys compete for the affection of a perky blonde on a trip around the world. It's also mean-spirited, vicious fun, ??as you'll observe.

As ever, we also played the week's Xbox Live indie demos, which had one very pleasant surprise in Marble Masters: The Pit, a physics-centered game that challenges players to be the last marble standing.  And, of course, we took a visit to the Dafoeverse to see all the wonderful contributions Wii U users have made in honor of the star of Beyond: Two Worlds.

(Also, our apologies for the skipping in the video. It seems we lost a lot of frames during the live broadcast.)

After being away for a week in Vegas for CES, and another week due to some scary ass health issues, I'm more than ready to come back to Mash Tactics tonight and have some fun. I'm still damn near blind in my left eye, but that's not going to stop me from hanging out, and playing some Sanctum with the live crowd. As well, I have ten copies of the game to giveaway a??t the start of the show, so make sure you get there early, and get you some!

Another highlight of our weekend content has to be what's happening on Rad Show: Get There this Sunday. Join in on the madness with the always amazing Johnny Luchador, as he shows off his skills in Ultimate Marvel vs.Capcom 3. If you think that sounds just a tad too dry for a Rad Show broadcast, well, you're thinking correctly. Lucha will be playing UMvC3 not on a regular controller -- oh no -- but with a set of Rock Band drums. That's what's up!

The secrets of Frog Fractions revealed

Join in on the conversation this weekend, as the always amazing Jonathan Holmes sits down with Jim Crawford from Twinbeard Studios, creators of Frog Fractions. I'm getting ready to head out to Vegas this Sunday to cover a bit of CES 2013, so, I don't really have anything big planned for this evening's show. However, we'll still be doing our regular Friday night thing at Mash Tactics, where we get together, and play a variety of multiplayer games with the live crowd. You'll just have to tune in and find out what's going down! We also have a full weekend of awesome live gami??ng content going down as usual this weekend. Check it out!

The Wii U's Miiverse community network is my absolute favorite thing about the console thus far. This is in no small part due to our very own Jim Sterling's declaration that the community for Rabbids Land would see better use as a community honoring the immensely talented Willem Dafoe. The internet heard the message (mostly) and the content you'll find in the "Dafoeverse" is some of the most creative and ent??ertaining stuff you'll find in the whole of the Miiverse.

I'm absolutely hooked on it, but what about all those who haven't been able to purchase a Wii U and join the fun? Oh Noes!!2 charmed the hell out of us on Saturday Morning Hangover

Each week on Saturday Morning Hang?over, we perform the public ser?vice of playing through the demos of new releases on Xbox Live Indie Games. While it's probably charitable to call the service "hit or miss" in terms of the content, it is something of a breeding ground for weird and amazing stuff.

The absolute best game we played this week was Oh Noes!!2: Attack of the Space Burger. You control a flying burger (presumably from space) which sucks up humans from the ground and uses them to fuel destructive "blood lust" powers which let you carpet bomb with gherkins, gain temporary invulnerability or expunge collected humans in?? a shower of bodies and gore. Oh, and you have a gun too but I clearly didn't figure that out until nearly the end of?? the demo when I was forced to face a dolphin defender of the planet. 

Go grab the demo and see for yourself. If you don't think this ??is wor??th dropping a buck on just to see how weird it can get, we have very different priorities in life.

Well, okay, maybe not 'televised.' But streamed on the internet, which is like television but not at all. Don't look at me like that.

Today is a very special Saturday Morning Hangover because it's one of the few weeks out of the year I get to be genuinely excited about the content on Xbox Live Indie Games. We're smack dab in the middle of the Indie Games Summer Uprising and nearly a third of the demos we'll be playing come from this curated batch of games aiming to represent the best st?uff on the service. But don't worry, there's still a whole bunch of questionable stuff that wormed its way in and we'll play all of that too.

And then, following our demo run, I'm going to surprise Jordan by forcing him to play Double Dragon Neon with me. ?It's... weird. I'm not sure if I like it, honestly. Maybe you c??an help me figure that out.

It all goes down at 10am Pacific over at Dtoid TV. Come, stay a while and marvel at two guys and a girl on a couc??h playing games. It'??s a thing you can do!
