If you're a JRPG fan and want a big 3DS game collection in the UK, your w??allet ?might be crying out in pain as its HP dwindles. Strangely, most of this list consists of Atlus titles that are difficult to get your hands on in the British isles.

10. Barbie Groom and Glam Pups

One random tie-in game that has appeared as one of the most expensive 3DS games in the UK is Barbie Groom and Glam Pups by publisher Little Orbit. It's a port of a Wii and DS title. In a similar fashion to Nintendogs, you're raising one of six little puppies as you train them and dress them up for contests. The dogs will be dancing and walking down the runway in style. The publisher was known for shovelware tie-in games on Wii, Wii U, DS, and 3DS. This game must not have released a lot of copies as it's scarce to find. It's way more expensive in the United States as Pricecharting states that three copies sold over the past year have an ave??rage price of $2,860.91?.

9. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

The first of many Atlus games on this list is Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked. This series is a cult hit, but its JRPG audience seems relatively small compared to big games like Zelda and Mario. This 3DS port of the DS RPG classic features a new eighth chapter of the game alongside voice acting for every character featured in Devil Survivor Overclocked. Thanks to th??e handheld's extra power, it a??lso includes a new 3D mode with updated artwork and graphics.

8. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth

Launching as a very late 3DS installment in the Persona series (it launched even later in 2019 for Western territories), this spinoff is difficult to access in the UK used games market. It's a dungeon-crawler take on the JRPG franchise that features characters from Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. It's a fan's dream to see all of these characters interact. The game received an 8/10 from Destructoid's review.

"Combat is very traditional but satisfying, as you start with party members who can fulfill every traditi??onal niche, and the weakness/scan system keeps you interested even in the most menial fights," said the article. It's too bad it's one of the most expensive 3DS games as seeing all three casts crossing over in one game sounds like a cool concept.

7. Inazuma Eleven 3 Team Ogre Attacks

Level-5 is also a developer that creates illusive games in the UK used games market. This time, the football RPG title Inazuma Eleven 3 Team Ogre Attacks costs just over £100 at CeX. In this entry, you can play the perspective of Canon Evans, a kid from the future, while the prior two Inazuma Eleven 3 titles took on two other protagonists' storylines. It's similar to how Fire Emblem Fates was released, with multiple versions of the game being launch??ed at the same time. You'll be able to recruit over 2,000 characters throughout the storyline and utilize over 350 in-game special moves.

6. Etrian Odyssey Nexus

Release Date: August 2, 2018

This Atlus game is another dungeon-crawling RPG, but the genre fits so well for the 3DS, especially with Etrian Odyssey Nexus. It lets you use the stylus to map where you've been in each labyrinth so far. This game also brings back the character creation from the fifth game, letting you create the anime-like protagonist you've dreamed of becoming. Like the other titles on this list, Atlus may not be shipping as many copies because of the limited audience for this niche title, which was a late-cycle relea??se for the aging 3DS platform as of 2018.

5. Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey Redux

Like Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, this game is another remake of a DS title, and it's -- surprise, surprise -- one of the most expensive 3DS games in the UK. It includes a new character within the story, more endings, and an additional dungeon to explore. This entry in the series is a?? bit peculiar as it has sci-fi tones to the narrative and setting. You play as a force of characters sent in by the United Nations to tackle a demonic anomaly in the Antarctic. It's certainly a unique setting?, I'll give it that.

4. Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology (£120/$150)

Release Date: June 29, 2017
Price on CeX: £120/$150

This is the third remake of a DS game on this list from Atlus. Radiant Historia is a beloved time-themed RPG that received a graphical touchup and new story content featuring a character named Nemesia alongside a third timeline with Perfect Chronology. It also has newly added voice acting and even an opening animation by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day)

"I’m happy Altus is doing what it can to get more people to try out Radiant Historia because the game absolutely holds up and remains a pinnacle of original JRPG storytelling," said our review. If you have a copy of the original game, however, it may not be worth it. "Perfect Chronology is easy to recommend if you didn’t play the original but it doesn’t do? nearly enough to make the argument for a return trip to Vainqueur," the re??view explained. A copy of the original game is around £50-70 on Amazon if you want to save some money.

3. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse

Atlus cranked out so many Shin Megami Tensei titles on the Nintendo 3DS, and this is the most expensive out of them all. Don't let the name fool you; it's not like Persona 5 Royal, where there's additional content. This game is a direct sequel to SMT IV with an alternate main character and almost 450 demons to find, fight, fuse, and recruit in this epic story-focused RPG. According to the Amazon store listing, these demons are from a "wide selection of cultures and relig??ions."

"Apocalypse is a great RPG, with a limitless sense of progression and party choices," said our review. This sequel is hard to get, making it one of the most expensive 3D??S games out there in the UK.

2. Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth is another dungeon-crawling RPG from Atlus on this list, and Destructoid said in its review that it "refined the formula to near perfection." That is almost to a fault, however, as the fifth game "makes no strides to furth??er advance the series," according?? to the article. However, it did bring in character creation for the first time in the franchise. There are also Adventure Episodes, which let you make choices in the story and gain experience points. This cult-favorite RPG is one of the most expensive 3DS games you can get today.

1. Yo-Kai Watch 3

The most expensive game on the Nintendo 3DS by far (at CeX, at least) is Yo-Kai Watch 3. This RPG came at a time when Hasbro suffered "declining sales" of its Yo-Kai Watch toys in North America (via Licensing International), and the franchise became less known around western territories like the United States. Even Japan's flagship Yo-Kai Watch store closed in 2019. The Western launch of th??is game came very ??late in the 3DS cycle, on December 7, 2018, in Europe and on February 8, 2019, for North Americans.

The third game, possibly as a result, had a lower print run from Nintendo that many on Reddit and GameFAQs communities at the time complained about. The Nintendo eShop closing has also not helped the situation, skyrocketing the price to a series some may be nostalgic about nowadays. We have yet to see a Yo-Kai Watch 4 release for Western territories, unfortunately.

Nab some fantastic RPGs before the 3DS eShop boards the doors

Nintendo eShop purchases for both the 3DS and Wii U are set to close up next spring. So today??'s Sega sale, which features some great 3DS games, is a good time to fill ??out your library.

Sega and Atlus games are on sale on the eShop, from now until April 17 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The Sega Spring Sale has plenty of good Switch deals, including a bunch of the Sega Ages releases and a 50% off deal on Persona 5 Strikers. Plus, the Valkyria Chronicles Remastered + Valkyria Chronicles 4 dual pack is only $28—a gr?eat deal for tactical ??RPG fans.

But let me turn your attention to somewhere fu??rther down the page: the Nintendo 3DS part of the sale. Several excellent Atlus RPGs are on sale, and this will probably be one of the best shots at getting these games in your library for a good price before the 3DS eShop closes.

The Shin Megami Tensei series, including SMT IV and both Devil Survivor and its sequel are on sale for $8 a pop. Some Etrian Odyssey games and Persona Q are also on sale, for a similarly low price. Also, it wasn't listed on the sale page, but Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology is also on sale for $10. (Thanks for the spot, Wario64.)

These are some stellar deals on some spectacular RPGs. The Devil Survivor series is a favorite of mine in particular, mixing Shin Megami Tensei ideas with tactics and social sims to make for a really fun, replayable duology. Plus, Etrian Odyssey and Radiant Historia are solid games worth grabbing.

I've already ??loaded up ??my cart with a bunch of games I'll want to maintain access to in the years ahead. If you're keen on keeping your Nintendo 3DS around for years, this is a good time to load up.

Ghostlight announces plans for standalone release and bundle

Releasing a Nintendo DS game isn't as easy as it once was. Now that its successor has taken off, the venerable portable isn't receiving much support from retailers, and those looking to rele??ase titles on the aged system must resort to some pretty drastic measures. 

Ghostlight is trying to do just that with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 in Europe. Whether the title will come to the territory remains to be seen. The publisher asserts it will? require at least 1,800 pre-orders in order to break even on manufac??turing costs. 

Pre-orders for the strategy role-playing game were initially planned to go live last week. That didn't happen. Ghostlight hit a snag with the content in the European version and ?is still awaiting final approval. In the meantime, the publisher has announced a pair of different ways players can acquire the title.

Should the pre-order quota be achieved, Ghostlight will be offering a bundle including Devil Survivor: Overclocked with a £10.00 discount in addition to a standalone release. If the campaign fails, pre-orders for the standalone package will be refunded. Those that ordered the bundle would receive a partial refund alongside a discounted copy of Overclocked.

Fighting demons isn't a game; If we lose, we die

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked will release one week earlier than anti?c??ipated in Europe. Originally slated for release on April 5, Ghostlight has pushed up the launch date of the 3DS title to Ma??rch 29.

Atlus first released the enhanced role-playing game in North America and Japan back in 2011. But better late than never, right? To sweeten the bitter taste of the long wait Ghostlight is including a pair of posters feauturing the title's box art and a styzed portayal of the Tokyo skyline for those that pre-order the game.

At long last, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is making its way across the pond. Ghostlight has announced the demonic ??role-playing game will see a European release on April 5.  

An upgraded version of Atlus' Nintendo DS title, Devil Survivor Overclocked features updated visuals, voice acting, and an epilogue to what players might remember from the original game. Get ready to save the world all over again!

This is more of a RPG fan service announcement than anything else. What will probably be your first real RPG for the 3DS is finally available today. Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked should be on store shelves as you read this.

I loved the original DS version, so it's already easy to recommend, but this new Overclocked one adds full voice acting, lots of visual upgrades, and a new eighth chapter to the story. The newly released trailer above covers this new chapter, teasing happenings that fo?llow the first gam??e's ending.

Fusing demons together is ??something that is unique to the Shin Megami Tensei games from Atlus. Those that have been around the RPG block a few times see the words 'demon fusion' and think about how they could get rid of those lesser, more common demons to make something cooler, and with better abilities. Everyone else would think it sounds like crazy talk. Everyone else think??s we're all devil worshipers that drink goats blood and gnaw on crow's feet. 

Demon fusion is crazy, but it's also cool and useful, and I'm glad you can do it in Devil Survivor Overclocked, an upcoming 3DS RPG. If mixing beasts together doesn't satisfy your new demon craving know that you can also hit the auction and try to get one at a good price.?? This trailer does a way better job of explaining how it works, so just watch that instead. I'll see you guys later. I've got to go make my daily sacrifice now.

I traded in my copy of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor this week. This is coming from someone that likes to keep all of his games. ??I love the game, but I know a bigger and better version is on its way.

Devil Survivor Overclocked will come to the 3DS on August 23, and with it? comes a bunch of enhancements and additions, as you'll see in this new trailer. We'll get better audio, including voice-overs for almost every line of dialogue. All the art has been remastered, as well. Also, a brand new eighth chapter has been added to the story. Yes, I'll have to start over from the beginning with this new one. That's not a bad thing, though.

This is shaping up to be the first real RPG for the 3DS. And we'r?e getting it before Japan? Wins all around.

Sure. I hear ya. You've already played this game. So have I. This is a port with a new 8th day chapter, and not really a new game. But still. You always get the SMT games first, Japan. We like 'em ??just as much as you do!

I'm hoping I get preview code of Devil Survivor: Overclocked really so?on. My 3DS needs some SRPG action to break it in.
